IMO nothing really changed between UE4 and UE5 when it comes to DBD. Updating the engine doesn't mean the graphics change if you don't create new meshs and textures to take advantage of new features. What we got was how lighting was handled. Other than that I would be hard press to find anything visually different.
Now the bugs moving to a new engine, those are very noticeable.
-
Yes, leave them on the ground. Either patrol around them pressuring other survivors or leave them to use up their UB. No one is forcing you pick them up when it's a high likelyhood they have DS. Force them to waste UB or have another survivor waste time picking them up. It's better than you going through the pickup animation time sink just to lose both survivors.
-
Any creative change would be met by criticism. Either it's garbage or broken with no room in the middle. If the Devs can get by this anniversary with the typical killer OP pls nerf, they are doing pretty good.

That's exactly what survivors want. They want you to come over and look at them. They'll be waiting for you at the closed exit gate until you're forced to open it or stay in the match until the server inevitably shut down.
sounds like what survivors want was to waste your time. So which one will you give them? An open exit with a timer or forever waiting for them to do it?
Not to mention this very scenario is ludicrous on its face. I don't know how one finds themselves in that situation let alone enough times to get upset enough to make a thread about it.

DBD community is very opinionated and are the types to lash out when that opinion is not recognized by reality.

A replay system would fix this you could check sus people and show evidence kntop of also being able to use it to see where you messed up. But the other problem is one side has it so much harder then the other that it makes the game one sided.
you're not the first to ask for a replay system. In fact many people have and the Devs answered that they won't due to technical reasons.
From looking at games with replay systems, cheating still runs rampant. As long as there's money to be made new cheats will continue to be made.
-
Hate to say, but 100hrs is barely getting your feet wet. Yes, a lot of legit stuff in this game will seem like cheating. Not just perks but the environment gives you away a lot of the time. Crows taking off shows a survivor is near and coming back indicate a survivor was there. Breathing is auditable while in a locker. If the killer is wearing headphones they can hear you. Crows spawn on top of the locker if you idle too long in one. Not to mention there are common hiding spots that killers are going to quickly check if the suspect you are near by.
If you are just starting out, don't think that everything sus that happens to you is cheating. Try to figure out what went wrong as though it was legit or you will be one of those that scream cheater at a legit player.

I feel it's also because the survivor animations and models for Licensed characters are more often than not unappealing, Claire Redfield's hands are still broken, when you point as her she has claw hands etc. Not to mention shoulders still collapse and dislocate despite being "fixed".
Leon with his perfectly circular open mouth and vacant lifeless stare, another character people would love to play as but just looks really wierd in the game. If they put half the effort into what they do for Killer designs people would be really happy to play as their fav horror icons.
Also I'd like to point out Heather (Cheryl) is so busted looking they wouldn't even use her against her own killer. Yet for some reason used Legally distinct ripley for Xenomorph. There are 52 survivors and the only difference between them is appearance. Killer's are unique, the game is built around them. That isn't a dig on survivors or how survivors play.
-
Being able to prove it is step 1. You can't detect crosshairs built into high end monitors. You can't detect a dot pasted on the screen.
So no, it's not an action that can be detected so BHVR can't do anything about it.
-
All for a queue just for these types so they can play with equally inept teammates.
-
The games draw are its killers. As and against.

To be fair, Killers were just used to getting ######### which should not have hit in the first place. And when it worked properly, they were unhappy.
Same with Dead Hard btw. Huge outcry when it was fixed after years and the people who were used to getting hits (because they did not see that the Survivor on the ground was exhausted because DH failed once again) did not like that they were on the side of receiving bad feedback.
Any Dead hard criticisms from killers was against the perk itself not how the Devs coded it.
For the complaint on this post the negative feedback killers were given, aka sound and visual ques, was the issue with the initial rollback system. If we weren't given a victory notification just to watch the survivor run off it wouldn't of been a huge issue.
What many survivors are missing is the rollback sysytem wasn't there to eliminate hits through pallets. You can, even in the initial rollback, get hit if you time the pallet wrong. Survivors cannot camp every pallet thinking they are safe.

I wanna remind you that they fixed those ping hits few years ago…
DBD for survivior felt amazing then.
but they brought it back to the previous state because killer mains shared their "feedback".
You mean, hear the scream, see the survivor on the ground, and then immediately pop back up and run off?
Yeah, killer's were just upset about not getting their free hits.

It would favor the killer and survivor with the best perks. Every lobby would more or less be the same match.

Imagine every game the survivors have knowledge of the killer's location and their teammates location. So a hypothetical situation that the OP is not presenting and (with killer location thrown in) I don't think I've ever seen and there being no chance of something this extreme happening?
Yeah, it this occurred there would have to be radical changes to other elements of the game (not least of all a whole array of perks, totally changing certain killers, and redesigning maps), but no one is talking about anything approaching this level of change.
Some people just don't understand what making solo more like SWF actually entails.

We're in complete hypothetical territory already on equilibrium being established and this is asking another hypothetical on top of it, that's why its so difficult to answer.
It depends on how big the change would be to kill rates. If the drop is minute (like 0.25%), probably nothing. If its something like 5%, wide scale buffs to basekit killer mechanics. If some killers drop and not others (say GF compared to Nurse), then those killers who dropped could be buffed in a way that would make them healthier in all situations without changing the killers who remain fine.
This is of course looking only at kill rates, there are other factors that might arise but that's the easiest one to look at.
I think situation 3 is most likely, so we'd need to go killer by killer to discuss what could be changed. But its a hypothetical on top of a hypothetical, so there are lots of presumptions that need to be made and it would be a massive amount of changes to list in a forum post which would require more data than we have access to.
Imagine every game the survivors have knowledge of the killer's location and their teammates location. No second guessing if someone is going for the save or that they should go.
It's not hard to think what the game would be if every match was like an average swf game.
The advantage for the killer is to create chaos to limit efficiency in gen repair. Solo being like SWF is to give the ability to coordinate. The killer will need something to compensate. We could at least speculate on what that may be.
-
- Subtle cheaters
- Killer players that don't understand that survivors can loop around obstacles tighter than them.
-
BHVR would be wise not to get tangled up with Disney.

Idk off hand, no one does yet because no one knows exactly how such a change would affect the game. Bhvr would look at the escape/kill rates, see what the feedback from players is and go from there.
If we are talking about BHVR then they will bhvr'd it. My question is to the concept that once solo and swf are equal we can balance the game. The issue is, no one wants to pitch ideas on what that would look like.

Not at all? Like if anything if you use this perk to battle a 3 gen it's more so helping the Killer cause you repair 50% slower you only get permanent progress if you hit great skill checks and if you ain't running a skill check build to spawn more skill checks it's not helping much and the killer would sooner run out of 8 kicks on the gen rather then finishing it.
What would you consider the best use of the perk be then? 3 gen was my guess on what the Devs made the perk for.

Nah man, this has nothing to do with Diminishing Returns. The simple thing is that running 4 Slowdowns is possible on any Killer without exception. Some Perks work better on some Killers and not really on others (e.g. BBQ is good on a Blight or Billy, but way worse on a Myers or Deathslinger). But Slowdowns work equally as good on any Killer, with slight variations. But there are enough Slowdown-Perks to have 4 for every Killer.
Plus stacking slowdowns and tunneling are just the easiest ways to play the game. Obviously this will be done.
Most slowdowns require downs and that is easier on some killers than others.

I would never try to make swf and solo equal, because its just impossible. I just want it to become as close as possible, so Bhvr gets better data for their statistics, so they can look at it and react to things being good or being bad.
In my opinion the game is Swf-Sided at the moment. Survs are in general pretty strong because of the gens being done so damn fast. So on the survivorside i'd look for Solo-Q Buffs in general, like the one i just talked about or status effects being shown in the Hud.
The first thing to focus on imo, after getting Solo-Q and SWF as close as possible, is the main objective. Gens are going damn fast, thats why the meta is almost everytime Killer running full antigen builds. In my opinion every single perk regarding Gens should be deleted and the objective needs to be redesigned or extended. But not in the simple way by just raising the timer for a gen to be done. I'd say nobody likes to do a gen for 2 minutes. The first thing coming to my mind is for example an additional objective, f.e. Survivors need to open chests to find a Genpart and they need to take it to the gen to start repairing it (its just a random idea coming in my mind to make the games last a little bit longer). The parts idea already has a surrogate in the blood event fuel cans. Would your example work in the same way or does it just unlock the ability to repair?

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4076876#Comment_4076876
It would allow bhvr to balance the game more accurately. The whole point is that soloq is, as a rule, extremely bad for survivors. It's obviously never going to be balanced the same as swf. Currently the average soloq team has a worse escape rate than average swf. It skews average escape rates. But bringing it closer allows for better game balance.
I understand the why, but I'm asking the how and what would change for either side after this equilibrium between solo and swf had been reached?
-
Steadfast seems to be a 3 gen counter. The gen doesn't need to be near the totem but the gen closest to it, even across the map. Otherwise, it's not that useful in a normal match.
-
If solo and swf were equal, impossible as you can't mimic team experience, how would bhvr balance the game after? What nerfs or buffs would each side receive?
-
It's no more than last year when someone made a similar post. Or the years before that.
-
Tunneling 3 out of the 4 is just what a toxic killer would do.

Did it really? I play since 2018 and it was always a wild mix of matchmaking. There were always a lot of free wins, where playing serious felt unfair.
Its still the same. Against good survivor you need to play seriously to have a chance. It was always rare bc of matchmaking.
Not really, but in comparison to today.

guess pre 6.1 dbd wasn't competitive since the game was survivor sided. I don't understand your point
Pre 6.1 being a good killer meant something because it was survivor sided. A killer saying they are being competitive post 6.1 seems a bit, underwhelming.

What’s being missed here is that the new version is effectively pointless. You will end up losing more time than you gain back by having to run across the map to maybe make the save, running back to your gen and then having to hit a great skill check. 5% is about 5 seconds saved but you spent more than 5 seconds to charge the token. If you just stay on the gen and let’s say use a toolbox, why would you even run fast track at that point?
That's your choice to make to run the perk or not. If you find no value in it then don't use it. At some point the Dev's may increase the tokens for that one survivor. But the way that it was before was clearly a punishment to the killer for hooking in the first place. I believe the survivor side doesn't like to be slugged, so why promote it?

we've had a billion 2v8s since they added the cage move feature after what was it, the first one?
you don't actually camp it you'd just proxy them and force the anti camp when anyone tried to rescue if they are about to die or go 2nd stage.
I relied on it because in the first 2v8, you couldn't save so that naturally pushed me into being a liberal slugger. that 2v8 was arguably killer leaning but since then we've added saves, Unbreakable and the catchup mechanic.
these are just my thoughts as somebody who approaches 2v8 competitively
What's competitive about it if it's killer leaning? Sounds like from what you said, the competitive side is the survivor one.

where is Discord = having n unfair advantage? You can use comms on every plattform, Discord on PC, Playstation and Xbox, Party Chat on Playstation and Xbox. Idk about Switch but im sure ther is somethng like this as well.
While it's not cheating by the devs and much of the community, you can't honestly say voice chat doesn't give an unfair advantage.
Give solo survivors unlimited aura reading of their teammates and the killer's aura when a another survivor has line of sight, then we can talk about how its not an advantage.

that first change was for survivor but I feel it ended up being something for me to weaponize. being able to on demand force a survivor to move was my secret weapon to get rid of somebody ASAP.
I'm not sad it's gone, it was super sweaty but you gotta be a sweat lord to have a chance
Being "weaponize" doesn't make it intended. My point would be the ability to camp in 2v8 wasn't around long enough for you to form a dependency.
-
You do know there are 4 survivors and 1 killer right? If all four survivors ran old Fast Track, one hook by the killer gave survivors 9 tokens total. 1 hook and the killer can lose 9% progress across the board. Kind of does sound like getting punished for doing their job doesn't it? Sounds like it would be better to slug survivors instead of hooking them… Maybe it's a good thing to not punish killers for hooking instead of slugging.
This change simply gave the tokens to the survivor than goes for the save. It's basically a refund to not hold M1 on a gen but instead help a teammate.
-
The original 2v8 had the cages move when the killer was in proximity. They changed it, not for the killers, but for the survivor going for the save just to have it move to another area killing the caged survivor. Them changing it back is also for the survivor and pausing after the move is fixing the original issue the way it should of been fixed.

So do killers only have an enjoyable time if the killer is braindead easy to get wins on?
Against noobs/casuals or survivors that know what they are doing? Because that list of easy to win killers is long with the former.

He doesn‘t even have to earn his op dash, just looking at someone for 5 seconds is enough.
Looking a someone for 5 sec is something. Old Myers didn't have a dash, but he didn't need to charge up to down you either. You could down a whole team with normal M1 and bloodwipe cooldown.
Playing Myers, I'm contantly seeing survivors just stand there staring a me as though I'm ghostface. Feeding Myers seems to be a bigger issue than dealing with the power.

Yes, but this is not the reality. You see people saying that Killer DCs are more justified. I dont see people complaining that Killers are so entitled when they DC either.
And well, we always see that people complain about Survivor toxicity. Yet, when someone complains about Killer toxicity, some people start to say that this Killer was probably bullied in a previous match and is letting off some steam.
So while you are correct, the perception of this community is a bit different.
You don't see it because it's not that prevalent. On the other hand, survivors DCing is common enough to draw the attention of both sides. It's a matter of scale, not your side does it too so there's no real issue.
No, killers are not justified in DCing. Will you say the same for survivors?

Slightly incorrect. If the Killer DCs, it is because of the Survivors. If the Survivors DC, it is because they are entitled.
If a killer DCs it's because they can't handle the pressure. Funny enough, same for survivors!
The matter of players DCing should not be partisan and anybody trying to excuse it should be called out.
-
Play however you think you need to because the survivors will be doing the same.
