  • Can you snuff out a locker?

  • Yep, bought with shards after finding out there wasn't a Steam page for the chapter. I think five years ago this survivor would of been free. It's behind a paywall now for those that will just pay cells. Everyone else will use shards.

  • Why would someone get better at something with no benefit? Why go for great skill checks if it doesn't do anything more than a basic skill check?

Why do people that practice free throws in basketball benefit over people who never played before? It is quite the odd question to have. Should we give new players two points if they miss just because they are new?

That is exactly the problem I’m pointing out. If a player has 7,000 hours of actual mechanical experience, but the internal system only "sees" them as having 1,000 hours, then the system is fundamentally flawed and data-blind.

You can't ignore 6,000 hours of muscle memory, map knowledge, and mechanical mastery just because an arbitrary "score" hit a ceiling. From a programming perspective, if your input data (actual skill/experience) is vastly different from your processed variable (the hidden score), your output (the match quality) will always be garbage.

The fact that the system treats a 10k-hour veteran and a 1k-hour intermediate player as a "perfect match" isn't a feature—it’s a massive failure in data granularity. It confirms that the "hidden score" doesn't reflect reality once you pass a very low threshold. We shouldn't be making excuses for a system that chooses to be ignorant of the most important metric in a competitive environment: actual time spent mastering the mechanics. The core issue is that the algorithm relies on almost binary kill/escape data. It completely ignores what actually happens during the match, which is just bad design. Treating a 10k-hour veteran and a 1k-hour intermediate as a "perfect match" isn't a feature—it’s a massive failure in data granularity. It confirms that the hidden score doesn't reflect reality once you pass a very low threshold. We shouldn't make excuses for a system that chooses to ignore actual time spent mastering the mechanics.

The internal system doesn't see hours at all, it looks at your kill/escapes which over time will place you against a challege every match. If you get 3-4ks, you are going to face survivors that escape more often than not. If you continue getting those 3-4Ks then your MMR score is going to go above the match making threshold where there's no upper limit to who you will face. The very nature of the system is to pit high kill rate killers against high escape rate survivors.

One thing to point out. New players are going to think those first few matches are hard when any experenced player would think it's easy. Nobody seems to notice that this is true at every skill level. Casuals vs Casuals is going to feel just as difficult as Vet vs Vet. Players think they are at high MMR and every match is sweaty. But facing the same skill level will always feel like you're struggling.

The MMR system isn't there to give easy wins. If it did, well I guess you were the sacrificial lamb for that team.

  • MMR is not based on hours but a score that's adjusted by how many kills you get a match or how often you escape.

Hours is only something they started tracking. Those high hour you played against may only have a thousand hours according to the system. In that case, if this were based on hours, they would be a perfect match for you.

  • Lose enough and survivors you are paired with get weaker.

I believe what they are referring to is the aim assistance addons in general not just a general crosshair. Such as the addon which visually shows Huntress's arc.

I would hate to see any aim assist in DBD. That includes the existing M1 aim assist.

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4061073#Comment_4061073

They alredy have a throwing arc style crosshair for springtrap with an addon. Itd be possible to do something similar with huntress and unknown. As you hold the hatchet it just has to show an arc line that gets straighter as it winds up. With unknown it can show its bounce trajectory. With deathslinger it can be a basic X or something so you can make quicker shots, knowing where the gun is going to aim before pulling it up.

But generally its just nice to know where the center of the screen is so that you don't miss by a hair just because the center isnt shown without some addon or third party program or sticking something to your screen.

I'll repeat myself a bit, there are things that require some level of skill. Skill that comes with practice. Don't cheapen the killer by adding hand holding. Neither Huntress or Deathslinger require a means to show you where the axe/spear is going.

For those saying it's an assessability concern, there's no need to add something for being unwilling to practice. Players with real disabilities can play these killers just fine. Focus more on the color blind and hard of hearing options. As sight and sound are far more important in DBD.

It would be easy enough show huntress's hatchet arc. They could just implement something like you see when throwing a grenade in pubg. When you wind up a throw it shows you the arc and end point of the throw with a line and dot at the end of it.

The arc is not easy with a crosshair. What you be asking for is a full on pointer showing you the fight path.

I sorry, but some thing must take some kind of skill.

  • If you need it for accessibility, there are plenty of ways to put a dot on you screen.

    @CatManThree said:

I feel like in some cases it would be kind of distracting or become a crutch to people, but it would be nice to have as a togglable option in the settings at least. Would make Huntress and Springtrap SO much easier to get better at. Unknown too, although I imagine adding something for it would be really buggy.

Shouldn't be a thing on Nurse though considering how buggy it is for her.

A crosshair for Huntress would not take the arc into account. It would result in axes hitting the ground before the survivor.

Nurse doesn't require an indicator and if you are planning on learning her it's best that you don't use the addon that provides one.

Except that in DBD the Killer is basically the peeker all the time. The Survivor is the angle holder and gets screwed over by high-ping peekers.
The rule of thumb is: low-ping Survivors have the advantage, high-ping Killers have the advantage.
Holding angles (checkspots in this game and reacting to the Killer’s movement) is way easier on low ping, while peeking (coming around a corner, double-backing, momentum teching, baiting pallet drops and going around) is much easier on high ping.

From my own testing, the “golden ping” on Killer is as close to 100 ms as possible without actually being at 100. At 100 ms you start getting noticeable delay on charging certain abilities, etc.
Everything below 100 ms has basically no downside whatsoever, except for the special case of Blight’s bump registration being very ping-dependent, but that’s about it, I think.

I don't believe that to be the case 100% of the time. Sure the chaser will have the advantage over the chased but that is because the one being chased is reacting to movements of the chaser. In non-async PvP both sides are reactingto each other more often.

Where this isn't 100% of cases is with killers like Huntress where the blood splatter hit is negated by a laggy survivor.

Also, believe it or not, pallet hit rollback do still occur. It happened to me during this 2v8. Survivor screams as though they were hit but perfectly fine on the other side of the pallet.

It is true though, but hoping for something better is always allowed.

Hope vs reality. Everyone has their own view what a reward should be. The problem that it is different from person to person. Working in the confines of not wanting to make players feel like they have to do something, nobody was going to accept what would ultimately come.

The only outcome to this was complaints that it isn't enough.

  • @THE_Crazy_Hyena said:

What a letdown. Definitely not what I thought a real P100 reward would be like.
I'd expected at least a special banner and a charm as well, or even a special T-shirt or something, that showed off the dedication to that character

Funny that this is the very reaction many said would happen if they added rewards.

have you never played against a bad ping projectile killer? It’s awful.

Have you ever played an online PvP game outside DBD?

I am aware, but it seems to be worse for DBD than the others

only because it's melee instead of projectiles. The more up close and personal the players the more the latency desync becomes apparent.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4058807#Comment_4058807

To be fair, DBD's coding interacting with their dedicated servers and us has much more pronounced issues than most multiplayer games out there.

except latency is very much a part of every online game where you interact with other players. You simply cannot see the same game state as every other player. In a 1v1 there's three different game states going on. Player 1's perspective, player 2' perspective, and what the server is told, and none of them match.

  • I liked it when BHVR thought DBD characters didn't need to speak.

  • Give him the ability to teleport to his traps.

    😁

  • Wormhole technology is still in it's infancy but once it hit mainstream, welcome back to the LAN party era with 0 latency!

  • Clearly because he's OP.

  • This is why we can't have nice things.

  • Should also give them a pat on the back and a there there.

Also an achievement that says they did their best.

It's on topic? We are discussing the perk nerfs, which are not what people have been asking for.

Instead of touching actually problematic stuff, they go after stuff that nobody talks about.

You have directed more on topic with your replies, but the initial post was about nerfing Nurse and Blight as if they were the cause of perks like Spirit Fury being nerf needlessly.

Granted you are free to complain about these killers, I just felt the inclusion of them in this discussion was unwarranted.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4058264#Comment_4058264

My point is that people were not complaining about Spirit Fury.

People are complaining about cheaters, about server issues, about Killers like Ghoul, about Killers like Trapper (for entirely different reasons, tbf) and we get vintage BHVR, changing something nobody was complaining about.

Very true but very off topic and not really what you said with your first post.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4057927#Comment_4057927

It doesn't, they'll do anything but touch the ACTUAL problems. That was my point.

The actual problem is Nurse and Blight having Spirit Fury and everything else would be good and balanced without Nurse and Blight having Spirit Fury.

I know you have issues with Nurse and Blight, (and most likely a few more killers). But coming into a post about Spirit Fury, a perk not utilized by the specific two, is disingenuous. If any killer is affected the most by this change is our resident face camper, Bubba.

  • @Pulsar said:

    This is dumb, imo.

Just killing off perks for no reason instead of nerfing Nurse or Blight.

Tell me how Spirit Fury affects Nurse. Please enlighten me.

The greed being he was bugged for 9 months, not 1 or 3, the entire duration 24/7, always bugged.

    Kidnap tech for 6 months

Then biting through walls (yes that was apperently a bug fix) for 9 months

And after that was the big vaulting hitbox, which caused unfair injuries. For 1 month (8 month post release)

They could have easily switched him, fix the bugs and enabled him, but they didnt. Because of money.

I'm thinking you don't know what greed means or just using it to flair up outrage because not fixing bugs is not greedy when you cannot explain how it's impacting sales.

Those that wanted the Ghoul have already purchased him and are way outside the ability to get a refund. They could nerf the hell out of him with no financial impact. In fact, that what BHVR did for many killers preceeding The Ghoul leading to many calling it a rug pull.

    Don't confuse incompetence for malice.

Maybe be but let me break it for you, the current ptb where trickster rework will be and map etc. the devs shortened perk names but more specificaly they difference way more between killers action like what is break action base and what special break (breaking base is with scpace bar your killer kicking the pallet and special is bubbas saw, nemis whip etc.) and they filter this out on the perks so now the spirits furry should count broken pallets with killer powers like bubbas saw, nemis whip or demos shread, legions vault when he has iri button addon (breaks pallet on vault) they are now in current DBD counting it into spirit furrys charges but after this update hits live from ptb (if they dont change it) it wont count all pallet break actions that are considered special break.

Same thing happened years ago with safe the best for the last (mayers perk) where you could with certain killers ignore the obsession toke loss when you injured them (the obsession guy) by killers like demo, nemi, xeno because their attacks are special attack but tokens builded by m1 attacks on STBFL and now you cant bypass it with speciall attacks so even if you injure obsession as demo with m1 attack or shread the outcome will be the same on lvl 3 STBFL you will still loose 2 tokens.

So for spirits furry this means many killers wont be good with it or their funny and good builds as it is now like with bubba you will have to waste your time and kick the pallet to get tokens which survivovrs that arent knew will notice as strange and will 100% know what are you up to instead of now you can play your saw and break normaly and than let them stun you and surprise them with fast recovery with enduranding and pallet break with spirits and follow it into instadown with your saw, this wont be possible if this change to spirits comes to live.

Hope its not so cunfusing as before but as someone with 10k post i guess you are here (in DBD) for some time so you will understand many thnings (I think you will understand all but one cant be 100% sure always).

No, I just didn't watch the live stream and the post above mine made it sound as if it would still count with killer power but not with addons, and another post said it was normal breaking only. So that was the confusing part.

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4057571#Comment_4057571

I think it worked on killers powers like saw from bubba and billy or nemis whip counted too but now its just basic attack so legion with iri button wont get stacks for spirits too.

Pretty much almost dead perk if this goes to live.

    sounds confusing.

  • 3 survivors alive will always be better than 4 survivors alive.

    Yes, this is true.

Killers have no choice but to tunnel 1 survivor out of the game.

This is an opinion and not a stated fact. Nothing forces a killer to tunnel a survivor and there are many matches won by 4k without tunneling.

if they killswitched ghoul, people wouldnt have been to incentivised to buy him and his cosmetics.

because he hasnt been killswitched, people happily got their money's worth, bought him and maybe his 15 dollar rize skin, which seems to have worked out with no consequence.

Yes, but Ghoul was three chapters back, almost a year. The greed of initial sales was over long ago. Other killers have been nerfed far closer to their release date.

  • @Philscooper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4056059#Comment_4056059

Because he has been bugged for 9 months and refused to killswitch him.

But when streetwise was a bug or fog-vials were bugged, it got switched or nerfed to the ground. (Same year this happened)

But kaneki got neither, people happily abused a BUG for 9 month until they fixed it.

    Not balance issue, Several BUGS.

Negligence is not greed. Please explain the greed? Or does killers having long term bugs represent greed? Those darn Legion mains are very greedy, yeah?

  • @Philscooper said:

They gave him several changes throughout the months, they just refuse to killswitch or rebalance him like they did vecna dnd.

This isnt a liecensing issue. Its just greed.

How is it greed? We are far past the time for refunds. Money is not what's stopping changes.

  • @Philscooper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055241#Comment_4055241

i can also name things that survivors have been gutted.

iron will used to be trash until its buff to 100%. for years and much longer than sm has been gutted for.

fog-vials got gutted and havent recovered for 6 months. (and arent garantied to be buffed unlike sm)

distortion has been gutted for over a year and it hasnt recovered. (no garantie to be ever changed)

these problems didnt take 2 years to adress. everytime killer has a slight whiff of a problem, it got immediately nerfed, gutted or reworked within months.

meanwhile we are still waiting for ghoul to be even rebalanced. even after his numberous bugs that he didnt get killswitched for. in 9 months.

Ah no, If we are going to go down the individual perks I will bring up a lot of perks that were outright unfair towards killers that lasted for years and were outright abused until they were finally changed.

Iron Will was not trash for the majority of it's life. Basically two chapters and it was reverted. It is effectively the same now as it was on release and, for a brief time, much stronger when it was a multiplier instead of additive.

Fog viles were nerfed after a PTB. How many killers were nerfed before release? How many killers are nerfed soon after release? It's a meme that BHVR waits until everyone bought the chapter then nerfs the killer and/or their perks.

Distortion was not gutted. Maybe your threshold of gutted is different than mine. Even though I do believe the nerf was unnecessary.

Ghoul is probably the first killer that BHVR didn't take an axe to with so much outcry from survivors. I think the license holder has something to do with it. But someday that may change but Ghoul is an exception to the rule.

  • Hey, they fixed the Blink position bug introduced last chapter. Little victories.

  • Most likely won't without massive changes to how their power works.

  • My opinion, don't 99 a gate and leave without good reason. Be able to open so if a teammate is being chased, they don't need to stop for the door opening animation.

  • @Philscooper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055095#Comment_4055095

it took 2 years to get merchant the gutting. if it was really pandering to survivors, it wouldnt take 2 years to bother to act.

kaneki is the most hated killer in 9 months and he barely got the same treatment, heck, he got to get away with alot of "bug exploits" when he should have been killswitch just like streetwise.

they rather kill-off fog-vials because killers complained about it than fix the issues kaneki had in 9 months. (he's still not fully bugless after the 9.4.2 patch.)

Is Merchant in a good place today? When they did gut Merchant was it in the view of the killer or the survivor?

  • @Terror_Misu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055091#Comment_4055091

This is a change without a purpose and being done out of pure spite of the killer.

I believe this needs to be addressed. You REALLY think that? All this is because of spite? If so, please explain why this is your perspective?

I do not see how making Blight 4.4m/s helps a single survivor against a Blight that knows how to play Blight. This is only for new Blight players that play like Trapper. Realize you are complaining about the equivalent of Trapper.

So if the scenario is 1 survivor in a chase against a Blight who knows how to play Blight competently, then you do not see how this helps. I can understand that. So, does that mean you understand how it helps in other scenarios? Like those 'omg that was #$^&% close!' moments? Its dbd man. You know there are numerous random things that can/may affect any/everything. Good faith isn't required in discussion, but it helps. I say this because I feel you know these things.

Not saying your opinion is wrong or anything, I just don't understand how you can say all that and mean it. I'm not commenting on your first paragraph, I am unaffected and not in discussion, just what I've spoken on. Thank you!

    p.s.: Trapper is A tier! 😒

look at it this way. A Blight who can play wouldn't be hurt as much by being 4.4m/s. So what is the point in doing so? Well, one comment was, so they cannot fall back to using M1. In other words, they expect the Blight to always use their power. This is the same as criticizing a Billy who doesn't down you with his chainsaw. Someone who plays Billy should know, not every loop can be curved and if you don't use M1 it's a big waste of time. Same for Blight on maps full of poor collisions or no collisions.

Who 4.4m/s does hurt are new or casual players of Blight. Those that don't know the ends and outs. When it comes to these players you will find them playing like a Trapper by just chasing.

So when I say this idea of making Blight 4.4 is out of spite, it's because people hate playing against him and want to make him less viable to be picked up by new players. Look at everything OP posted for alternatives. If bhvr did half of it would making Blight 4.4 seem a bit too much? I bet many here would say no, because it's not about balance.

  • Survivors have been convinced that giving up of any inconvenience is virtuous and will eventually get the Devs to pander to their demands.

Go back before dedicated servers when the killer hosted the match. When a killer felt like they were being clowned on or thing weren't going their way, they would DC or pull the plug. For those not around back then, this wasn't viewed in a good light to survivors. Not to say it was a virtuous thing, that was bad sportsmanship then as is DCing or giving up today.

  • @ArkInk said:

Honestly, I do like this proposed set of changes more than just making Blight 110%, though I've long been an advocate of that idea.

These changes feel more pointed to make his play style work in trial rather than just keeping it busted and getting rid of his ability to fall back on M1 at certain loops. I particularly like breaking a pallet taking two tokens, as it's a change I thought of while playing him and idk how to describe it, but it just feels like it should happen when playing against him.

Also, where is the Foxy skin BHVR? Its been like 8 months since the FNAF chapter with radio silence from the devs on it, starting to feel like how they treated the tome characters back in the day.

So, what you are saying, after removing "tech" that would allow a hit, in some loops where using Blights power is detrimental he should be forced to loop like a Huntress or give up on the chase? I find it funny how the movement speed for projectile killers is being used to punish other killers. Once you agree Blight should be 4.4, there's a whole slew of dash type killers that become targets for it.

I do not see how making Blight 4.4m/s helps a single survivor against a Blight that knows how to play Blight. This is only for new Blight players that play like Trapper. Realize you are complaining about the equivalent of Trapper. This is a change without a purpose and being done out of pure spite of the killer.

  • @Terror_Misu said:

I'd personally bring back his hug tech and remove breaking the pallet on power/put it on cooldown.

Buff and a nerf, so can't 'get nuked from orbit' or whatever that crap is.

4.4 won't do much, but it will do some. If it matters so little, why not do it then? Seems it would make more people happy than not, for such a small, tiny incy change.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055025#Comment_4055025

Thats how the forums have worked for years, both sides.

and I wish more would recognize it for what it is and stop being gaslighted to if we just do this everything will be good.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Honestly I'm kinda split on the idea of a 4.4 m/s Blight, as I think it'd be interesting to see, but every time I see the suggestion it's almost always followed by something like "also, make Blight's power go on cooldown when he breaks a pallet". Like alright, we're just trying to nuke the killer from orbit at that point.

That's the end goal. Some are taking the incremental approach that makes little changes seem "reasonable" then they turn around demanding the next "reasonable" change. Repeat until the end result then find the next target.

  • Which killer, which survivor, what strategy, which perks, and on what map?

A lot of blanks for the reader to fill in that many could agree without having the same facts.

It would be like me saying every new poster says the same character is OP, the same perks are broken, and the same map is balanced towards the other side.

  • 4.4 will do nothing. Everyone that complains about Blight today will complain tomorrow. Think about it, how often does a good Blight not hit you with his M2?

I remember when people wanted Billy to be 4.4, still do probably. Same energy.

  • I have 60-70 ping. Are you trying to shun players with good ping?

  • Perk tiers is really a none issue today. Could they get rid of them? Yes. But it would take more effort than any benefit gain to us. The perk tiers today is just to incentivise playing the character.

Before the bloodweb rework I was onboard removing them as they were a big factor to the grind. Now with the way bloodwebs work, not an issue.

  • No Mither just makes the survivor broken. There's no stopping it.
