  • Because long time plays may have stockpiles doesn't mean we need to arm everyone else.

On the flip side, what benefit does taking away the bloodweb afford? You've stated that long time players already have everything they want with the current system. New players shouldn't be relying on crutch addons to survive/kill and they need to test out which addons are good for them over time. Maybe the system we have, considering the amount of BP we generate, is just fine.

  • No, DS is one of the most shrine perk to be available that anyone that wanted it most likely does.

  • Losing an icon.

  • Lot of blaming content creators when anyone objectively looking at the changes could tell that they were bad. Those that keep bring this up, as though it's not being worked on, just want anti-tunnel/slug so bad they don't care how it is done.

That’s the things - there was zero reason to change from the ESC button, nobody was asking for it, yet they did it anyway, spending time and resources that could have been spent on far more pressing game issues. This kind of thing happens all the time.

BHVR will make odd changes, claim it was community supported, and if you dig into the forums you will find one post with little to no views asking for it.

Yes, but if you spend time tunneling that 1 survivor, the point is that you still have to catch them 6 times, even doing literally the bare minimum and just running in a straight line and using the endurance effect, 5 gens will get done before you get that 1st kill.

But you still need to do those chases anyways. How much time do you save chasing a fresh survivor?

Maybe you forgetting that there are killers with great map mobility that can disrupt gen progress while still having a hook bias towards one survivor.

  • @Reinami said:

It actually discourages it. The reason that tunneling works is because you can eliminate someone early. If it takes you 6 hooks of tunneling the same guy. Thats 6 separate chases. Assuming the first chase lasts like 25 seconds for 2 hits and each of the other 5 chases lasts the minimum amount of 15 seconds (the duration of the endurance) that would still take you.

    • 25 seconds first chase
    • 15 second other chase * 5
    • 2.7 second wipe animation * 6
    • 3 second pickup animation * 6
    • 8 seconds to walk to hook * 6
    • 1.5 second hook animation * 6

    That's a total of 25 + 75 + (15.2 * 6) = 191.2 seconds.

Gens take 90 seconds. Thats almost 200 seconds of 2 survivors doing nothing but gens (you are tunneling remember?) And a 3rd stopping periodically to unhook the guy getting tunneled and going back to a gen while the killer spends time tunneling that person. And this is assuming that the survivor getting tunneled can't get to a pallet in that 15 second endurance and the killer waits it out instead of having a proper chase that probably is able to last 25+ seconds assuming the killer hits them right off the hook.

If you can't finish 5 gens and escape while 2 survivors get 3 full minutes each of uninterrupted gen time, its a you problem at that point.

The point of tunneling is to get one out early but it is also beneficial to remove hook states from hard to catch survivors by chasing easy to catch survivors that are already injured. It's six easy chases vs 3 easy and 3 hard. The amount of chases doesn't change between tunneling and not tunneling so why not get the easy hook state?

It's also bad from the survivors point of view. Imagine playing solo and a teammate wanting to die removes one of your chances to escape.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461483/is-there-a-way-to-eliminate-tunneling-entirely

The way i would do is that survivors share the 1st hook state. Meaning that the earliest you could remove someone from the game is the 6th hook, which at that point most people would agree is near the later half of the game.

There's an obvious problem with that. It encourages tunneling! You can get free hook states on hard survivors by bullying the same survivor over and over?

Something tells me that it will be equivalent to the Skull Merchant rework.

    which one?

  • Nothing has been cancelled it is still being worked on. The game survived for a decade with tunneling and camping, it will survive until the new system is ready.

  • It depends on who you watch. Survivor mains are going advocate for survivors and killer mains will for killers.

Even those who want to be viewed as both sides have a bias towards one on some issues.

  • Not every loop or pallet is going to be safe. It should be a mix of good and bad and knowing which ones are which. I sure someone can go around a picture every strong loop as a counter to this.

Ideally the quantity of good and bad loops need to be taken as a whole not individual screenshots painting a one sided story.

Except Devs have pushed stuff to live from PTB that nobody wanted in the past

So they should repeat that mistake?

I realize many in this thread don't think it would be a mistake but there are some that do. There's nothing wrong with going back a refining the system until it works.

  • The PTBs are to test solutions, not a preview whats to come in the next update. Stop making these test out to be promises to fulfill.

Devs have already stated they want solutions to these very complex issues. Don't expect the first, second, or even third attempt to be that solution.

  • Only people upset about the new system are those affected by the new system. Mainly those that DC their last game of the day to start fresh the next.

how someone plays is not my decision to make.

True. Which is why I word things to be directed largely at the devs.

It's their fault that the most effective way to play the game is unengaging for all 5 players and unfun for everyone.

It's up to them to change that (being that the efficient method to play is more engaging). That could be making tunneling someone out more interesting for everyone, but I doubt it.

The alternative means making tunneling less effective so we can also address things like gen speed, assuming the tunneling issue doesn't already solve that as well. (Since engaging more survivors automatically means less time on gens also).

Ideally, whatever solution it is ends in all 5 players have a more fun experience overall.

Unfortunately, there are some extremely loud voices that don't want anything to change at all, and that is impeding progress for everyone else.

Regardless if tunneling is a problem or not, it does not excuse a survivor DCing simply because they were the first found.

It also does not excuse the practice of not moving away from the hook if the killer does happen to return. Not all killers are going to go after the unhooked. But if you hand it to them on a silver platter then you lose all rights to complain.

Sure, but my point is that. Since tunneling is not just meta, but a play style that people insist and demand remain... To the point of dropping a nuclear bomb on the devs during the PTB, that players are absolutely conditioned to expect it, even when it may or may not happen. And conditioned because probably 8 out of 10 of their recent games have had someone tunneled out immediately.

Let me put this a different way: gen rushing, as in, actual full blown "4 man showing up to speed run the match", is far, far less common than tunneling. Would you tell killers that they should "wait until they're sure that's what's happening"?

Because the answer seems to always, always be that they feel "forced to tunnel because of gen speeds".

Also, no. I don't tell killers to tunnel. I also don't tell them not to tunnel. Because how someone plays is not my decision to make.

Do I tunnel? Not by default. Many of my matches I will outright ignore the unhooked survivor in favor of the healthy survivor. Only when the survivor side is playing like this is for money do I play less forgiving to mistakes and bad plays.

I wouldn't say that, true. What would say, DCing because you just had your ass handed to you doesn't mean you get to do the unsportsman like action of DCing like a little b.

  • Did we get tired of Ghoul nerfs that we are back to Blight?

  • he gets all these bonuses while killers around him get nerfed

If you're going to make a topic like this, at least list these bonuses Blight somehow gets.

Blanket statements with no substance is just to rabble rouse those of similar opinions.

while killers around him get nerfed while he still remains in the same spot. It begs the question should blight be toned down a little?

Or maybe we shouldn't be nerfing these killers but making them stronger? Why must everything fall to the least common denominator?

Having an immediately over, hopeless match is the core problem though. And everyone complains about that since matches are largely decided in the first, roughly, two minutes.

But instead of being able to meaningfully fix the fact that being found first means you don't get to play the match at all, the current narrative is to chalk it up to "pettiness".

Because fixing the core game balance problem is simply not allowed by some in this community.

Being found first isn't a death sentence. Survivors that DC because of it don't wait to see if the killer will play in a way they prejudge them to play. They DC before being picked up.

  • @JohnNemesisMan said:

There is something that needs to be brought up about the DC penalty and its the cheaters. Its the ONLY problem with the old DC penalty system is that cheaters could hold you hostage and force you to quit.

Nowdays abandoning can mostly solve the issue, and most people wouldn't need to deal with them. But there are still people who could be targetted and harassed by petty cheaters and force them into a lose/lose scenario.

If there were a proper anti-cheat that prevented this sort of thing, the old DC penalties could 100% come back without any issues.

Cheaters in general need to be delt with but also note that thats not a solvable issue. Cheating can only be mitigated at best.

DC penalties are needed because there are more immature players than cheaters playing.

doesnt it remove exhaustion? 1.sprint burst. 2. syringe for another burst then 3. sprint burst again due to exhaustion being removed via syringe? not sure if it works like that but its a guess to explain possibly 3.

another guess would be haste off the hook being 1. then sprint burst being 2. then syringe being 3?

Where did the recovery from exhaustion come from in step 3? You already got the reset in step 2.

Others have mention Blood Rush that can reset exhaustion. This makes sense but this topic makes it seem the syringe is the only item involved besides SB.

  • Anti-Hemorrhagic Syringe:

Removed the heal over time effect.

    Removes Exhaustion on use. (Rework)

Consumes the med-kit on Secondary Action use.

How three times? I'm only seeing two instances. Initial run to trigger SB. Pop the syringe for another SB. Where's the third?

Fighting survs that have double your framerate isn't great though. Now that more and more people have TVs/monitors that can do 120hz (personally my tv could do 144hz and it isnt even top range), they should invest resources into making this a thing.

It's not that I can't do 120 or even higher. It's that there are detrimental bugs when fps fluctuates.

  • Apparently there's some bugs tied to fps with movement. Because of that I've limited fps to 90. Steam version.

Asking for 120fps may be asking for more issues that bhvr will never fix.

  • You can make killer a cake walk but killers that tunnel now will start to tunnel if survivors ever get close to escaping. Killers that say they tunnel only because the matches are too fast, only say that to justify an action they feel is wrong. But not every killer thinks tunneling is wrong or feels guilt for doing so. Getting a 3v1 as fast as possible will always be beneficial to the 1. The killers that tunnel at 5 gens, the type where these complaints come, won't stop simply because you made the match overall easier for them.

  • There's no point to be on the Steam forum. All the complaints and rabble rousing is here now.

  • The goal is to limit not eliminate it. Not as a easy button but one where you must weigh risk and reward. Mostly when it comes to slugging. As for tunneling, they are trying to use the carrot than the stick. Many will say where's the carrot and they may be right, but I'm happy to not be getting the stick like in the last PTB.

Yes, there are those that think the solution should or does remove these elements but they are wrong or misinformed (like usual).

Also, yes. You can't fix BHVR.

  • Question is, what do you do if it keeps happening over and over. Do you still take it easy or do you start to feel like you're babysitting?

Please tell us you havent played trapper, with out saying it.

But to answer your question, to set, lets say 6 traps, trapper have to set 2 traps, then travel around the map to pick up 2 more, then he have move back to the area he want to trap, and set 2 traps and then travel around the map to pick up 2 more traps, AND then he have move back to the area he want to trap and set the last 2 traps.

    • Now how long do you think that would take?

Any survivors in that area are long gone or they have seen what trapper was doing and are most likely disarming the traps.

Imagine that Blight, Billy or Wesker only had 2 charges of their "dash" power, and they had to travel around the map to get more and were not able to carry more than 2 charges at one time.

Yes in my 5K hours playing DBD I haven't played Trapper. Clearly, even though the changes complained about in this post are not even Live I mistakenly underestimated the amount of time it requires to trap the entire basement. My mistake was clearly that it takes half the hook timer to fully setup and defend the basement.

Maybe just maybe I don't play Trapper like a castle defence game. Where I stake the entire outcome of the match on getting one survivor in the basement and hope survivor empathy catches the other three.

  • I've said it before, no tutorial can make someone play DBD properly. Player's don't begin to get good until they have played hundreds of hours. One reason is to find out that playing boldly is better than sneaking around. That only comes when you become accustom to maps and killers.

  • In ranked based you had good players playing sweaty matches for half a month (before the 13th everyone tries to get to iri rank). Casuals playing in greens and purples, and new players in yellow and brown. Issue was, players that were good brought up real issues while casuals in mid ranks said everything was fine.

One thing that MMR brought to DBD was showing players the game is not balanced well and you cannot escape it by deranking.

  • How long are you taking to set traps, because it is sounding excessive.

  • But you can progress the game?

    Stated reason:

killer or teammates are doing nothing to progress the game

    Actual reason:

killers I have gone up against have been complete asshats

  • I think it will pay nothing and leave us in debt.

  • No stick either. Half wins are good too. Last PTB punished the killer even when the survivor repaired in their face knowing the killer couldn't risk hooking them. Paired with being able to endlessly pick themselves up made it a lose lose.

  • Because the carrot is better than the stick?

  • Really? I've never seen that for other games. Thanks.

I don't use flashlights or tbag, nor do I get mad at randoms because someone else did so. Individual players are individuals and should be regarded as such. Also never said anything about toxicity. I'm saying the instances of hatch gifting went down after the finisher mori came about. That's it. That's the whole entire point.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying You did anything. Killers are going to carry their frustrations from prievious matches into the next.

  • @cogsturning said:

I don't think evey killer suddenly got mad about flashlights at this particular moment in the game's history. I didn't say anyone was entitled to the hatch, I said there was a noticeable shift away from mercy that directly correlated with the finisher mori's release.

Flashlights, pallets in the face, teabag at the exit? Take your pick to what could cause a killer not to feel merciful to give you or anyone else hatch.

Being given hatch should be viewed as rare, not to be used as a messurement to how toxic killers are being.

  • @cogsturning said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4022162#Comment_4022162

I used to be gifted hatch waaayyyyyy more before the finisher mori. Mercy damn near disappeared when it came into play. It's only sorta come back a little now, but not much. Having that period at the end of the match has changed a lot about this game.

Gifting hatch is a sign of mercy or respect. Maybe killers ran out of mercy or had one too many lights in their face to feel any respect towards survivors.

For me, I'm not giving hatch unless I think your team was dog water and you personally got screwed over by their actions. How you played during the match will only grant you a quick hook or a mori animation, not hatch.

You and the killer are owe nothing. Not a hook and not the hatch. If a killer doesn't give hatch, that's because they are playing the game.

  • @random1543 said:

I hate slugging for the mori, just play for the hatch, hatch play never comes into play anymore because of this sorta gameplay.

all tho with the new anti slugging changes coming glad we will just be able to pick ourselves up rather then be left there to bleed out .

and with regards to comment "wasn't it like this before" so many people now will slug one person with two people left has become way more common. the main slugging situation i saw complained about before was killers just leaving everyone to bleed out on the ground.

nowadays people are slugging one on the ground to go find last one no matter how long that person has to stay slugged for.

and that was the complaint for years and it wasn't just a one two thread thing.

@THE_Crazy_Hyena no, the amount hasn't changed only what happens after the last survivor is down changed. Players that slugged for the 4K now mori you. That's all that changed. People who didn't slug for the 4K before didn't suddenly value time less to simply watch a mori animation.

  • So all the posts before the final mori about slugging for the 4k was all smoke? This isn't about the mori. Killer's have slugged for the 4k forever.

  • Unhooked survivor not having collision sounds good on paper until you realize you're playing DBD.

These survivors could still be hit, that's why they have endurance. All they have to do is stay closer to the killer than other survivors to take the hit.

  • I like to know how one gets the chance to fill out this survey. When you uninstall on Steam? I've never seen that with other games. Is it uninstalling on other platforms? Or does the person have to seek out this survey? If so, how do we know they uninstall or even had it installed to begin with?

  • @chknTM said:

Cause surely no one ever would use the free basekit OTR, Babysitter, Wicked to Bodyblock the Killer aggressively with 30s of Endurance and then speed across the map at 10% haste they get for 30 seconds?

Like your argument is good, yes you could target the unhooker, if we didnt have the best perk combination for aggressive unhook bodyblocking basekit now.

Cause they did remove the collision removal with the changes, so now they can be abused to bodyblock again.

And if your response is to then Punish the Bodyblocker, it will take a while to even catch up with 30s of 10% Haste, and then they can run DS and StB so not only will it be impossible to complete the chase in reasonable time, and you cant slug them either to outplay DS, cause antislug exists aswell, you also wont get anyone out, you lose regardless of the decision you make.

Putting an aggressive amount of great Survivor perks into basekit with no downside leads to alot of Lose-Lose situations for the opposite side.

The colision removal only works if they also remove aim assist. Anyone that played with the OG Freddy knows this. When you swing for a sleeping survivor and a awake is closer the swing goes towards the closer survivor.

Unless aim assist is disabled while the survivor has no closion, I rather have the means of hitting the body blocker.

  • The aura reading is only for the unhooked. The unhooker is still there to take your hits, unless your gripe is not downing the hooked survivor again. Which happens to be the goal of the system.
