Because the in game event is just a copy and paste job.

Even the stuff they're doing out of matches is just a variation of stuff they could already do. Such as rotating the shrine of secrets, giving log in rewards, and reskinning default cosmetics + items.

None of the upcoming event is effortful, and if this is BHVR putting in extra effort. Then I don't have much hope for the future of events in this game. Honestly, indie titles with much smaller teams have pulled off much better events than this.

BHVR worked overtime to ######### it up. That's the Extra Effort they put in.

In my honest opinion noed is the only perk that I think needs a rework. Why be rewarded for losing? The perk should give a increased speed increase with a 50-75% weapon hit recovery.

Because it doesn't reward for playing bad. It punishes survivors for not doing their optional second objective. You chose not to do totems so endure your punishment. Or you can evade punishment and open a exit gate and get out.

Guessing is not counterplay lol and Spirit does not guess when she can literally hear where the survivors are.

Source: Have played as and against Spirit more than 3 times.

Please do bestow your godly knowledge upon me on how exactly to counter Spirit? Maybe another recycled argument that can be debunked simply by saying Spirit can hear you, is invisible, and moves like 3x as fast as survivors in phase?

Scratch marks aren't dependable she relies on them to point her in the proper direction. Oh and by the way survivors have control over there scratch mark trails, they can do this by letting go of Shift which also stops your footstep sounds. Your injured? Iron Will. She has Stridor? Its a shame Yin and Yang cannot exist without each other.

Throwing pallets down early isn't counterplay. Isn't the point of chases to buy teammates time to do gens and doesn't throwing the pallet down and forcing her to break it buy you and teammates time?

As a Spirit main, survivors tend to run obvious paths because they've gone brain dead to looping that they don't stop to think. If I'm at a jungle gym, I simply stay away from obvious looping paths because that's what she expects. If I'm at a unmindgameable loop I just throw the pallet down to both confuse her and force her to waste more of her power. Your at loop with a dropped pallet, count to 3 if you haven't gotten hit, she's faking it and you need to get away from the loop.

I'm not a basic survivor player that calls killers broken because shift + w isn't effective. I find shift + w counterplay boring af, because its not skillful and involves no risk decisions, because unlike most survivor's I like using my brain to outplay others in a pvp.

Now if you'll excuse I gotta get 3 heals and escape with Dwight and than murder someone with Spirits grandfather

What exactly is the “purpose of her kit?” To be completely unfair and give survivors no reliable counterplay against her?

Just make her intermittently appear while phase walking and buff the passive phasing so that The Spirit knows when it’s happening and can mindgame with it.

"To be completely unfair and give survivors no reliable counterplay against her?"

That statement literally says that you have gone brain dead to just holding Shift + W and playing Ring Around The Pallet. People that play Spirit such as myself understand how to counter Spirit simply because we know how she thinks and what information she needs to track survivor's. It's called "Using Your Brain" something your suppose to do to outplay the other person in a PvP game.

But it doesn't matter I guess. It's okay for killer's to guess but it's bad when survivor's have to guess

Huh? What is this even supposed to mean.

Does it matter whether we label it a "rework" or a "nerf"? Sounds like semantics to me...

The purpose of Spirits kit is to trick survivors. Reworking her kit is nerfing her, which she's going to need a buff to compensate.

  • There's just no way to rework or nerf Spirit without nerfing her, and if you nerf her you have to buff her

  • As a Spirit main, I just don't see how you nerf her or give her counterplay without defeating the purpose of her kit. As a survivor I love playing against her because she's not Shift + W and go brain dead

  • Been Banned from that Discord for 2yrs and I still see it as a blessing

  • @CornMoss said:

Make it so when she phases she is deaf, buff other things accordingly (maybe let her see blood at all times). This way it is now her guessing what the survivor is doing and the survivor is guessing what she is doing, also survivors can walk to hide scratch marks and misdirect her.

Or instead of making her deaf, make it so she cannot hear any noise other than grunts of pain and make it so those grunts of pain are not directional. (this means the sound does not get louder the closer you get to the survivor, merely lets the spirit know they are closer by)

There is no way to nerf Spirit without defeating the purpose of her kit. Giving some kind of tell would be like nerfing Nurse to where she can't blink through objects, or making clowns gas not slow survivor's.

The only way to fix Spirit is to delete her, but I doubt BHVR would do that

But isn't that the exact inverse situation vs iron will when you aren't prepared for it, where the killer doesn't know where you are and there is nothing they can do about it now they just have to guess

We live on a DBD generations were survivor's are suppose to have all the information they need to win, but killer's have to guess.

We also live in a generation that Spirit is complained about, but survivor's don't complain about being mindgamed at a jungle gym which is pretty much the same thing

If you can loop a Spirit with Stridor while injured, then I'll agree.

And plz share your winning technique

(dropping strong pallets early doesn't count)

Imma harp on this a bit, but why is "Dropping a pallet" not considered a counter when the purpose of chases is to buy time so teammates can do gen? This is one of the most effective things you can do to Rin to throw her off or force her to break a pallet to buy time, yet this is frowned upon as a counter because it doesn't meet survivor's style of counterplay

Scratch marks, breathing and any other noises such as grass rustling or footsteps.

So you want to take away her main source of tracking when scratch marks aren't reliable due to the fact that it takes ages for fresh scratch marks to show up, breathing and footsteps can barley be heard over ambient noises, and not every map has grass?

  • @Quake said:

Than how do you suggest nerfing her without defeating the purpose of her kit?

If you nerf her the way the survivor community wants to, you defeat and butcher the purpose of her kit. It would be like nerfing Nurse to where she can't blink through objects, or making Wraith stay visible while he's cloaked.

    • up the ante - known for always getting rare drops in video games, rolling high on need/greed. my friends get upset with me when we compete on loot in ffxiv because i always win it lol
    • autodidact - i'm a fast learner, rapidly iterating and improving on new skills in a short period of time.

maybe it doesn't have to be only survivor perks. if anyone has a history of spontaneously causing technical difficulties for electrical devices nearby then, by all means, tell me you have surge 😂 i've definitely heard that's a thing for some people.

Iron Will and Calm Spirit: for some unknown reason I have a very very high pain tolerance, that I just don't react to pain, or fear.

Most of them are besides Undying, Thrill, and Blood Favor (which makes 0 sense why it's a hex with a cooldiwn).

The problem comes from totem placement and how survivor's either spawn on them or they are hidden in obvious places.

They hate her because she takes away some of the control that survivors have during a chase. Survivors hate anything that causes them to work harder or more, which is why they complain about perks like NOED and BBQ. All they want to do is kite a killer through an obstacle course that is designed for them to have every advantage.

    @Blueberry said:

If they took the time to play her they would know how to beat her.

These comments pretty much sum up why Spirit is hated. It why I've been saying since the start of her hate train Spirit is not the problem. The problem comes from the fact that survivor's have gone so brain dead to holding Shift + W and dropping a pallet that they don't have a thought process anymore. Spirit is one of the few killer's I enjoy playing because she feels like PvP to me. Yeah sure I'm 100% guessing, but at least me being a Spirit main gives me the advantage on how she thinks so that I can turn the favor of the chase into my favor.

  • First you need to understand how Spirit thinks, and the best way to do this is by playing her.

    1. If she's not phasing throw the pallet down. This will force her to either brake the pallet, or determine if the loop is mindgameable to her standards. If she breaks the pallet "leave". If she doesn't count to 3, and walk in one direction. If you don't get hit than shes fake phasing and you need to run/walk in the opposite direction.

    2. If she's phasing than you need to scramble your sounds. Run in a circle to scramble your scratch marks and sounds. Double back over your scratch marks. Fast vault than slow vault back.

    3. Be unpredictable! Most of the times spirit will see scratch marks leading to a safe area which is when spirit will be like. "Well those scratch marks are going towards the shack and the window is right there"

The forum is full of people claiming there's counterplay to anything, and the majority refuse to elucidate.

You can't just say 'there's counterplay', you have to say what it is.

I can't use my brain for the whole community. From perks to legit holding Shift + W can counter her.

Instead of just waiting throw the pallet down to get the stun throw it down to deny her fake phasing potential. But of course to survivor's this is considered 'boring' as if killers are just bots and chases are all about survivor's.

As for perks IW does wonders against her. "But Stridor counters IW" yet Yin and Yang are capable of doing things the other can't.

Like I said, I can't use my brain for the whole community.

Damn, guess all those hours of learning how to loop, how to counter each killer, how to be as time efficient as possible, how to maximize chase time, and other skills just don't count as skill :/

I don't consider looping skillful because, I don't sense or feel myself using my brain outplay the killer, I'm just going off of information that's given to me.

I'm at a mind-gameable loop. Oh well, let me wait and peek around the corner fits spoonfed counterplay instead of basing everything off of expirence.

But God forbid a killer that actually makes you make a educated guess, is problematic because I'm not getting the direct counterplay information I need in order to loop the killer for 5 gens.

How is it a challenge when there is zero counterplay at all? How would it be fun when there is absolutely nothing you can do but just be on the hook no matter what you do. On hawkins by the way the most killer sided map in the game in my opinion as I main killer myself. I like going against good killers. I don't see how it's amazingly fun to go against a killer who already has minimal counterplay, and stacking expensive headphones on top of Stridor.

She does have a counterplay. Problem is, the survivor community is use to holding Shift + W and dropping a pallet, that they don't wanna use their brain to think outside the box.

Upset that Stridor makes her easier and nullifies IW? Yin cannot exist without Ysng, and they are capable of things that the other is not.

As a reference here's a fatigue time table

    1 blink = 2 seconds of fatigue

Additional blinks = .5s of fatigue

Swinging after a blink hit or miss = .5s of fatigue

    Help tips

If you think your gonna over blink, look downwards to cancel/shorten blink distances. Though be warned of maps such as meat plant and being near the basement as it will blink you downstairs.

You can use your blink charges as a mind-game to trick survivor's. If you wanna get a reaction out of survivor's you can use one, and just charge your second blink until fatigue to try and get a reaction out of survivor's.

Pallets and windows are your best friends as survivor's lock themselves in animation, quickly get to the other side of the window/pallet and get the hit on them as they are stick in animation

  • @Northener1907 said:

Right now your main focus needs to be learning her blink ranges. Go into a match, find a area to blink around and just try blink to objects and back to your starting point increasing distance as you get more familiar with her ranges.

Don't worry about piping or dripping because once you master Nurse you'll rank you really fast.

Once you get use to Nurses blink ranges you've ready to start chasing. You need to study each and every survivor's pathing and how they are reacting to you. Are running in straight line? Are they bank juking? Do they run behind a LoS blocker and than run back? You always wanna predict and adjust your approach based on survivor's actions.

I'm a former Nurse main that learned her on console per-nerf.

Well. I did say not necessarily more gen times. As much as having to find parts to fix them. Looping isn't the problem. As much as SOME loops are way to strong. Especially when chained together..But IMO most shacks are to strong. And I really feel like shacks should be like dead dog. Where you can break out a wall near the window. That shack is VERY well done IMO...You basically have to HOPE your mind game works at shacks..You nailed it when you said you have to hope the survivor messes up. Double window LT walls are way to strong too IMO. Unless they suck...You basically have to hope Tofu tech works on them.

I learned how to deal with LT walls from Ardetha (he does personal coaching), but you are right about them being next to each other is absurd.

3.) Nurse but she got nerfed and still had game breaking bugs so I became a Spirit main, and we2 having a ######### ton of fun, because I liked the idea of not seeing survivor's and predicting them

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245150/how-would-you-fix-killer-stress

Slow down the game. And make generators take longer. Rather it's repair times. Or finding multiple parts to fix generators. Right now you can take your first chase and lose 1-2 gens before your first hook. There's a reason killers hook camp and slug.

Also maybe weakening places like shack. Or double L and T windows...Or lessening window blocking to 2 vaults.

Other then that.. Nothing..Killer is inherently stressful if you let it be. You have to know where 4 survivors are at any time...Which gens to pressure..When to slug..Paying attention to survivors and their tendencies to see which mind games may work, etc etc. It's a LOT to process

While I strongly agree that survivor objectives is the main source of killer stress, I believe increasing gen times will only make survivor more boring.

I would propose instead of increasing gen times, give survivor's a secondary objective prior to gens. For example every 25% progress gens overheat and become too hot to interact with so survivor's have to find a bottle of oil to pour into the gen to cool it off, than it becomes intractable again. At the same time I believe this will shift the killer meta and give other perks a chance to shine.

I don't think looping is the problem, I think the problem comes from the fact that killers have to hope and pray that survivor's make a mistake or that they are out positioned to win the chase, instead of being rewarded for playing well (let's exclude Sally and Rin from this).

  • @HellDescent said:

Edit: P.S. Can we have the old Freddy back now?

This is why I've stopped playing DBD. Killers have to show an extraordinary amount of skill but survivor can remain brain dead and have no risks.

I'm just curious as why they made Black Box a watered down Blood Warden.

I'm generally curious as to how many people on these forums still play DBD, and who here doesn't play anymore. I recently made the decision that I didn't want to play DBD anymore because it doesn't seem like the game is gonna get better thanks to the bad balancing decisions, and how bad things have been since the Halloween Event. So if you still play DBD would like to know why, and if you don't then I imagine it might be the same with my reasoning.

After 2.3k hrs I have quit playing DBD. Why?

    1. The devs making poor balance desicions

    2. Despite me being a killer main, killer is just too damn stressful, and ever since I stopped playing I've been less stressed and happier.

    3. Survivor is too brain dead easy. The killers I enjoy playing against are the problematic killers such as Spirit and Slinger, because their counterplay requires brain power and not holding Shift + W and peeking for spoonfed counterplay

    4. As easy and skillless survivor is, survivor is rewarded for playing well, while only 3% of the killer roaster is rewarded for playing well.

Only reason why I'm still here on the forums is because I wanna see the devs ######### up a game with a lot of potential

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 26
