so now the question remains, why do you main spirit?

Because she's a killer that can do something no matter what situation she's put in and doesn't have to depend on survivor's to make a miatake to win a chase.

Its not a particularly fun add on to use either. I dropped Freddy for Clown after his launch as a main and played him for a long time. The add on is extremely boring, mainly because you just slow with one bottle and get the hit with another. As a survivor its boring because you don't get the back and forth in the chase. The Clown will go out of his way to just bloodlust and get as close as possible until the bottle is unavoidable. Sure, it'll take a while but its boring. It's literally old Legion without the moonwalking.

Also could do without the victim complex in your post. I've been playing killer for 4 years, I'm looking at this from both sides. From a game design perspective, if something is enjoyable (and pinky finger being enjoyable is reaching) for one side to play for but unejoyable and unengaging to play on the other side (winning or losing has nothing to do with this, I can win against a slowdown Freddy. It doesn't mean I'm having fun) it makes sense to change it.

What are your thoughts on Iridiscent heads, by the way?

    Yada yada!

I have mixed feelings about iri heads!

Everyone wants iriheads to have a range restriction and I heavily disagree. Put this way. If I'm bout to have sex and they ask me how long I am. You gotta find a ruler than measure yourself. After you measure your lil homie he ain't in the mood and neither are you.

The point that I'm trying to get is that no one is going to wait for that range limit due to the fact that it'll become useful against baby survivor's and survivor's will have too much reaction time so they can miss.

    I suggest changing it to.

Hatchet trigger Dying on FULL WIND UP!

    TREMENDOSLY increases WIND UP time!

One of the reasons why I have mixed feelings is because the add-on is considered broken if survivor's get outplayed example in the video below

Its more that 90% of Clowns will just bloodlust it and slam the bottle in your back from 2 feet away, removing any actual chance of dodging it and making for a very dull chase. I've never seen a Clown go for actual ranged hits with this or play normally until they get one by chance in an open area.

I've also never seen it not paired with an ebony mori.

Also, this add on is from when Clown slowed upon throwing a bottle making that palystyle impossible. It was never changed upon the movespeed buff.

    Yada yada yada!

"Its more that 90% of Clowns will just bloodlust it and slam the bottle in your back from 2 feet away, removing any actual chance of dodging it"

That's like getting mad at the fact that your out positioned and have to take a hit and getting mad that you had no reaction time try and avoid getting M1'd.

"and making for a very dull chase."

So we are back to the thought process that killers are responsible for survivors fun I guess. Killers are suppose to use and ruin builds that are fun survivor's. Because ######### the fact that the killer is a player as well.

What's the point mindgaming when someone has this perk? I'll bait a survivor making them think I'm going one way but go the other way and they use dead hard to save them. How is that fair? I made a play but got played by a perk. Got outplayed at killer shack? Press this button to save you! Survivors always get carried by this perk

Imo DH needs to have a risk to it due to the fact that survivor's can use it for distance to negate counterplay and because it's the most effective way to use it. Either make the perk a one time use or lock survivor's intersections for 3 seconds after using DH.

  • Why is the community so upset with instadowns? Clown has to hit survivor's with the bottle and he has very little time to get the hit, therefore I consider the add-on fair do to the simple fact that he has to be tactical to get the bottle.

Next thing you know we are putting a range restriction on this add-on to create that 1 very useless add-on for the killer

  • No not really. Ik for sure it would encourage me to stalk more with him.

  • Survivor:

Bond - I'm a solo survivor so that should explain

Autodidact - I like to heal teammates quickly

Resilience - Because I spend 90% of the match injured

    Killer:

Make Your Choice(MYC) - Perk is extremely underrated but is only useful to killers with high mobility

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

I am a long time killer and I simply do not understand how so many killers can get upset about DS.

The devs won’t change it because the survivor can only use it ONCE. This means the absolute MAXIMUM amount of times a killer can be stunned by it is 4.

Just eat the stun. It’s really not that crippling. That survivor is now vulnerable for the remainder of the trial.

I think the problem our brothers and sisters have with DS is how punishing it feels when you don't tunnel

  • Nurse and Spirit are the only killers that force DH to be used as intended. Billy, Leatherface, Oni, exhaustion add-ons/perk, exposed add-ons/perks

What makes you think using Dead Hard to gain distance isn't part of the design of the perk?

The perk is literally designed to be a "second chance" perk. It's designed to be an extra health state for someone who doesn't have health (No Mither).

Because the purpose of the dash is to avoid taking a hit. DH for distance isn't even remotely trying to avoid taking a hit.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1861307#Comment_1861307

Enlighten me then, how do you "use it properly" is that the thing where you press e to avoid a hit and end up on the ground because of hit validation? Dead hard worked when it was peer to peer, it broke with servers and broke even more with "hit validation" the exhausted on the ground happens then "hit validation kicks in" and I am no longer exhausted but I am still on the ground. The game knows I shouldn't be exhausted because I got hit mid dead hard so I shouldn't have gone down but the hit validation favours the killers and as such the game says the dead hard didn't happen even though on my screen it did.

    @HollowsGrief said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1861316#Comment_1861316

You use it to gain extra distance, you don't use to it "dodge" an attack. If you are smart when you use it for distance it becomes the strongest perk in the game by a mile, it's the difference between going down and getting to that pallet which in turn lets you get to a long wall, etc.

That is called "abusing the perk" simply because your using the perk to do something it was not intended for, like when Wake Up affected every single action survivors did.

The reason why DH for distance is problematic to killers is because it negates counterplay for such a strong perk that requires no skill or thought process.

If they made the perk more risky for distance users, than the perk wouldn't be problematic but we already know BHVR won't touch survuvirs precious second chance perks

  • I just don't like playing against killers that are Shift + W counterplay, due to how 90% of the killer roaster is weak to this.

I prefer killers like Spirit and PH

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    You can't.

You can only aim your blink towards the ground to shorten the blink distance

    To add to this,

Beware maps that have multiple floors such as The Game, Stanger Things map, and basements. If you blink downwards and the basement or the bottom floor is beneath you, YOU WILL BLINK TO THE BOTTOM LEVEL!

  • After reading some of these comments let me ask this.

Why is it ok for killers to rely on survivor's mistakes, but it's not ok for survivirs to rely on killers to make a mistake?

Why is it ok for killers to guess, but it's not ok for survivors to guess?

Why does every killer have to be loopable?

90% of killer gameplay is guessing and hoping that every move you make is the right one, but when it comes to a killer that is rewarded for playing well and forces survivor's to play differently its a problem.

  • @Raccoon said:

I know Dead Hard for distance sucks the fun out of certain chases for some people, but stating that this circumvents its intended purpose is incorrect:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Activate-able Perk.

You can take a beating. When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to avoid damage.

    • Press the Active Ability button while running to dash forward.
    • During the dash, you avoid damage.

Causes the Exhausted Status Effect for several seconds.

Dead Hard cannot be used when Exhausted.

You do not recover from Exhaustion while running.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dashing forward pre-emptively to extend a loop (instead of taking a guaranteed hit) or over a bear trap (instead of activating it) is still avoiding damage. These are the most common things people bring up.

You can also use it to avoid lots of other stuff like hatchets, spear shots, red puke, Pyramid Head's ranged attack, chainsaw hits, shred, and Oni's instant down - This is still avoiding damage.

Does it suck and feel cheap sometimes? Sure, but it's still using the perk for its intended purpose.

Currently, Clown's Solvent Jug (this will 100% be removed in the rework I guarantee it :-/ ), Demo's Whistle, and Mindbreaker are the only things that can actually counter it somewhat reliably (while the latter two are still dependent on positioning and survivor reaction).

The perk is ridiculously strong, and sometimes stupid, but it's still falling within its 'intended purpose' in these scenarios.

Imo I like the idea of Dead Hard but it has its problems!

Since servers people tend to be exhausted on the ground and thus the birth of DH for distance was born! If DH was more riskier than I wouldn't care if it was used for distance.

Do I think DH needs to be nerfed? Yes and No! I would lock survuvirs interactions for 2 to 3 seconds so that the perk still has counterplay, but it can be used more tactically.

And yes I do play survivor I just stopped using survivor meta perks because My gameplay wasn't improving

  • @Starshadw said:

I'll just mention it again - devs need to take a look at Killer DC rates. Killers that aren't fun to play against, to the point where people DC out of the game, should be looked at to figure out how to correct the situation.

Here's the problem with that logic

    1. Hag: They DC just because

    2. Pyramid Head: Survivor's hate the gamble and risk and don't like the fact that they have to get hit

    3. Slinger: A lot of survivor's DC against him because Shift + W isn't that effect and that survivor's like having control

Spirit: Let's just say that survivor's think its okay for killers to guess, but when they have to guess instead of using their ######### brain its justified to DC

The problem doesn't lie within the killers, its mostly because survivor's are use to majority of the killer roaster being Shift + W counterplay. The devs are trying to create killers that are more M2 reliant on using their powers in chase rather than W A S D and mindgaming 100% of the time

I've been watching a lot of Michi's videos and frankly, I enjoy it. It's nice to see unused perks like MYC, ToT, Dark Devotion, Third Seal, and even Cruel Limits being actually viable with Hag. All she needs is Corrupt intervention and she's good to go.

And yet so many people seem to want Hag nerfed, they want instant teleport hits removed, they want Rusty Shackles gone (Which I guess I can understand), they want Mint Rag nerfed and many other nerfs to completely butcher her until she's as bad as Trapper.

I can understand the frustration with her since she is a teleporting killer like Nurse but come on! It takes 0 skill to play Hag?! Freddy I can understand, Spirit I can somehow understand but why Hag! If your trap placement is terrible, you won't be able to use your power and you're stuck as a 110% killer. Basement Hag is the least skillful playstyle of hers and even then you can still do some nice mind games with it, unlike camping Bubba.

But most of all, I like Hag because she makes some perks work and she doesn't have to rely on Ruin Undying Tinkerer. Sort of like Demo, she can activate MYC and Devour Hope and still get the unhooker afterwards. Perks that give you short bursts of information or only work on certain locations like Bitter Murmur and Cruel Limits can also work on her.

Heck, things that Demo can't usually run because of his shred like Knock Out and Dark Devotion can work on Hag. Perks that rely on spreading damage like Third Seal and Blood Echo are pretty decent on her. As long that Corrupt Intervention is there, she can run whatever she wants and I like that. I get to take on 3 possibly unique perks and 1 uncommonly used one. Also before you say Hags that run Ruin Undying Tinkerer are boring, unless the Hag is running Mint Rag, Hag is terrible at scaring people off gens. Remember, she a 110% killer who is trap based.

TL;DR : Hag is great because she can give a variety to the game if the player chooses. That is the opposite of boring

I'm fine with Hag, I just feel that she shouldn't be able to spam traps on hooked survivor's.

People want Rusty Shackles nerf.., that's like asking to nerf Trappers traps because you didn't see it there

  • For me it's between Oni and Blight!

Let's say they are being played to full potential. Blight has great mobility and alright chase pressure. Oni has alright chase pressure but lacks map pressure until he gets pissed off which he becomes deadly.

  • @Harrington said:

I'm not sure how to feel about it right now because moris have been rendered basically useless and I don't know if I should spend blood points on them.

As a killer main I hardly ever used mori, but think the change wasn't the best idea!

Ivory Mori shouldn't have been touched imo, Ebony Mori was over kill! I think they should have made it to were all survivors need to be hooked once.

To keep the game fresh with new content.

But how does this keep the game fresh when survivor is still Shift + W counterplay and killer is just gambling Mindgames and M1

  • Give survivors more objectives is my solution!

My idea would be that survivors with on a gen to 25% and at the 25% the gen becomes too hot for them and the killer to interact with so they have to go to the killer shack or something to get oil and pour it the gen to progress it to the next 25% want repeat to till the gen is complete.

  • The new Twins perk: Cooldown is way too long, and the cooldown of it feels like the devs are trying to get rid of the slowdown meta

Surge: I personally think the cooldown is too long

Blood Favor: Makes no sense why it's a hex perk with a cooldown

Thrilling Tremors: This might be my entitled side talking but I feel that this perk shouldn't have a cooldown

  • @beatddb said:

Considering my tinkerer most of the times pops up 25 seconds into a game. How can this even be possible?

Just wondering, cause playing handicapped with one gen less in not even a minute of match is not my cup of tea.

(and corrupt intervention doesn't get rid of the problem, just delays it).

    Gen speeds aren't the problem!

With the amount of second chance perks survivor's can run, the fact that 90% of the killer roaster has to capitalize on survivor's mistakes to even remotely win a chase; the problem lies within the fact that survivor's don't have enough objectives (imo)! Survivor's have to depend on the killer for more objectives!

For example, Ruin and Undying! If the killer has too much pressure on survivor's they tend to go totem hunting, which is an optional objective, but I firmly think survivor's need a secondary objective that has to do with gens!

  • I hardly use moris but this change is a little too harsh and not only that, kinda encourages soft camping the way I see it!

  • Either he got pulled out of a locker or a gen!

  • @Wesker09 said:

It makes no sense and it's super frustrating. I get the whole "lockers victor" but to be fair he's really fast and it's actually kinda hard to dodge him so I think lockers are fair but holy ######### going into the locker and getting downed or pounced on it's so annoying

Have you actually tried juking Victor instead of taking the cowards way out and nullifying a killer's power?

  • I really don't consider survivor skillful due to the fact that 90% killer counterplay is Shift + W

  • @Canas said:

I'm honestly upset that she wasn't even brought up on the latest Q&A session when the devs mentioned various killers who'd they like to update/rework in the coming months.

Plague has been in a pretty bad spot since she came out and hasn't seen any actual changes to her addons or gameplay so far. She remains the least played killer in the game with also the lowest killrate together with Blight.

Her last original cosmetic came out 10 months ago, beyond that the only skins she has received were recolors which were locked away behind premium Rift passes. She really deserves far better than this.

She also struggles with pipping due to her playstyle conflicting with the requirements for various emblems. Her overall bp-gain is pretty bad, too. You literally get more bp from gentapping compared to infecting generators.

There are so many things in need of improvements, however seeing how BHVR doesn't even have her on their radar gives me very little hope regarding the future of this killer.

The problem with Plague is that survivors still have control over her power! An easy fix to this would be to give survivors motivation to cleanse by debuffing them the longer they stay sick

    Fully sick = Broken

15s Broken = louder grunts of pain that IW can't surpress

30s Broken = Hindered and the above

45s Broken = Exhausted and all the above

60s Broken = Slower action speeds and all the above

This would be my idea of fixing Plague! I feel that her kit is alright, but survivors having full control over her power is the problem!

  • @Big_Tim_The_Pig_Main said:

We all like to point at bad killers and say fix them. But what about the other killers. The ones whose powers are outdated in the meta like doctor and Wraith? Doctor is a fix to a problem that doesn't exist anymore, sneaking around is not a strategy at high ranks it's not very useful. And being sneaky as killer is worthless because spinechill exists. Pig was a fix for Gen speeds and well she needs momentum to make that work and she doesn't have a power that can help her chase survivors down. With every new chapter a new problem comes for old killers. Every killer is a fix for a problem that survivors abuse. Gen speeds=Pig, Tracking=Doctor, Holding W=Nurse,Spirit,Billy,Hag,Blight.Vault loops=Huntress,Deathslinger, Pyramid head. Healing=Legion,Plague. Hook rushing=Bubba Demogorgon and Clown don't really counter anything. Freddy counters survivors existing on the map same with Nurse. Like killer design has become outdated and in need of REAL fixes not reworks that make them weak.

Imo Wraith needs a power, but I'm not gonna bring this up to the devs because they're gonna return his add-ons and by looking at Nurse and Billy.., Wraith is fine

Pig imo needs a power, you crouch down at a loop and survivors run away there for nullifying her ambush.

Mikey needs to be updated! I would say get rid of T1 since it has no place in the game today, and as for his add-ons, well I don't wanna repeat myself

  • @NAERUUU said:

PH is actually one of the most hated killer, Why ?

It's just it represents all the things hated by the survivors, as much in high rank, as in low rank.

It can be impossible for saveflash to auto-unhook, some perks like borrow or DS don't work, it is frustrating on the loop and above all it can kill you with nothing.

I'm not saying he's strong but just boring for the survivors.

And don't start talking to me about spirit stridor, yes she doesn't have a counter even with iron will so we don't need to talk about this op killer

You wanna know what the most boring thing for killer is? Playing Ring Around The Rosie with survivors except the pallet falls down.

Neither side cares about the other sides fun!

As a killer I'm tired of dealing with second chance perks, but survivors don't care because they assume that all killers play the same. As a survivor I'm tired of killers camping, but the killer doesn't care because they probably don't play survivor and haven't gotten a taste of their own medicine.

Well he can't see scratch marks, what do you suggest to give victor in compensation for tracking?

  • The perk is already problematic on both sides and is being adused to reset chase! Mid-air DH is going to create more of a problem for survivors than killers

Twins is unplayable, all of the new survivor perks are unusable, 2-3 other killers, like legion, has also caught the bugged code virus. Perks can't even be used. Game is not even playable on some platforms. And much, MUCH more.

All i'll say is...play Don't Starve Together for a game that has competent devs that care about their playerbase, and releases update nearly bug free, and changes stuff accordingly that players have problems with. At the very least their updates are finished. (I know they are not the same genre, but if an indie team with less members and less money can do it, so can this game. I know the devs can do better, they just need to be willing to do so)

I had a lot of faith in BHVR to fix everything that was wrong with this killer because of Ghostface who was a complete failure the first week of the PTB, but than they turned him around and fixed him!

Aside from the non-shocking bugs, imo this is the worse chapter I have ever experienced and I'm glad I'm taking a break from this game and have no interest in buying The Twins

I would like to add that i've seen a LOT of games on both sides where me or other killers were able to completely turn the game around because survivors were too confident and made major mistakes

See that's the problem with killer! You turned the game around because survivor's made major mistakes not because you played well

  • Nurse, Spirit, Slinger, Pyramid Head: Exist

    Survivors: Nerf please

You ask me sounds like survivor's can't stand a challenge from killer's that force survivor's to play differently, but when they actually get nerfed and disappear y'all wonder what happened to the killer community and their player's for example Nurse and Billy main's are ancient relics of the past now

  • @SheKIndaSucks said:

I play both equally. My issue with killer will always be that it feels way more stressful at high ranks, and the second you make one little #########-up, you may end up losing the game. Whilst on the other side, survivors have so god damn many second chances. It's infuriating.

This! I've been finding myself mostly playing Nurse and Spirit because at least they can either nullify or make second chance perks useless and don't have to depend on survivor's mistakes. But at the same time the stress of these killer's is dealing with survivor's salt because survivor's couldn't mindlessly these to killer's.

As a killer, I try not to play scummy and I try my best to make the game fun for every one, but the amount of second chance perks survivor's have, and the fact that killer's have to capitalize on survivor's mistakes just makes killer stressful and drain's your will to play killer.

I've recently been playing a lot of survivor but the problem that I have with survivor is that it's boring and not as fun as killer. I know it sounds like I need to take a break from the game, but my next break will be last and I don't wanna give up on a game with so much potential.

  • Killer is just too damn stressful. I wanna play for the lolz, but the moment you get into your first chase or 1 gen pops before you find the first survivor, the feeling of stress starts to consume you, and next thing you know your unconsciously playing competitively, because of the stress.

  • You wanna know why survivor queues are taking so long?

Their are too many survivor players and not enough killer players! I personally think balance is the problem behind this due to the fact that killer is still stressful to play, and the killers that aren't stressful to play, killers have to deal with survivors salt!

I think it's time that BHVR starts to focus on game health. A lot of my friends are starting to withdraw from the game because of poor balance and game health, and if I take another break from the game, I will be following in their footsteps

Wrong! If Nurse is in fatigue she can't be pallet stunned! If she's in The Chain Blink Window (after blink before fatigue) she can be stunned and suffers both!

Before if she got stunned during chain blink, she immediately started fatigue, but Nurse mains are use to it, it doesn't bother us that she suffers the pallet stun and fatigue

If your playing as Dwight, this is what I want

    • Love and affection
    • You to watch me kill your teammates
    • NSFW stuff in the basement
    • For you to be the best bf I've ever had

I'm really not asking for much!

  • 1. Midwhich

    2. Blood Lodge

    3. Indoor Maps

  • Just because you can't mindlessly loop a killer doesn't mean that they are broken! Have you ever tried using different looping tactic's? Have you ever stopped to think, "hold wait, it's not all about me"? Have you ever tried playing killer to understand why these killer's are played?

I'm a Spirit main because no matter what kind of situation you put her in, she can do something about it! Put Mikey at a unmindgameable loop and he can't do ######### about it, but hope that the survivor makes a mistake which is most likely not possible at a unmindgameable loop!

So long as survivor 2nd chance perks remain a thing and survivor still remains skilless I will deny these so called "no counterplay" killers unfair and unbalanced!

  • @JBWarrior said:

Ok... I would consider myself a good survivor and I despise spirit. Why? She has little to no counter play, all you need is loud sound a few hours and your top tier. I’m pretty sure I speak for my fellow survivors when I say she is maybe the best 1v1 killer. Please bring back the directional sound and make it so the scratch marks are non-existent. Really bring her back to Earth, or the realm

Her directional bug made her brain-dead boring and too easy to counter! You wanna make scratch mark non existent when those have been bugged since forever? What would you suggest giving her in compensation?

"She has little to no counter play!" Are you sure your not the problem in just trying to mindlessly loop her like every other killer and getting mad that you have to use your brain and rely on other tactics to deal with her?

Spirit is a product of what's wrong with looping! She flips the script on survivor's and make's them guess just like her Grandpa, brother's and sister's have to do!

If you don't wanna play Spirit to get a general idea of how she thinks and how she play's than I suggest you sacrifice one of your meta perks for Spine Chill. But don't be surprised when you run into a Spirit that can identify Spine Chill and can play around it!

This Spirit hate needs to stop, she's one of few killer's that I actually enjoy playing against because she's not a Shift + W counterplay killer! If she was and all killer's were Shift + W counterplay. I'm pretty sure there would be no killer's for survivor's to play against

In my own opinion, I feel like dh is too strong and in some cases it can carry survivors. Think of all the times somebody wouldve been down or killed if it hadn't been for DH. I dont find it a very skillful perk. All you have to do is click a button and get a free boost. Chases go on for at least another 10 seconds. I feel like if u had to use dead hard, you played the loop wrong. It's like the old ruin argument. Doesnt take much effort for the reward you get.

I feel that DH needs to have a risk to it! When the perk was being used to avoid taking a hit, that was fine! Now that it's being used for distance it needs to be addressed!

I would change DH to make it to were after using DH survivors are locked out from interactions (like doctors shock) for 2-3s (however long it takes for killers to recover from whiffing) to make the perk more riskier!

  • I consider it alright due to the simple fact that it has the same counter play as if she doesn't have iri heads. I actually like going against iri heads, because of the stress thought. Just my 2 cents.
