The matchmaking change caused a sudden rise in the demand for higher ranked killers. Alot of games have matches like THIS one where the game grabs for a red rank killer if even a single member of the survivor team is red ranks, where as before...it wouldve been searching for lower ranked killers instead.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujv2iHoTkmU&t=138s

In this match, only 2 members of the survivor team are red rank against Umbra at rank 1. The other 2 survivors are ranks 8 and 17. The old matchmaking system wouldve been grabbing for a non-red rank killer. The new system is TRYING to grab for more red rank killers. Its not that theres a sudden lack of killers, just that the system is grabbing for them MUCH more often.

That’s why it should be a happy medium when it comes to finding killers to face. Usually I’ll have an SWF group and the ranks will be something like 2, 5, 8, and 17. It’s basically a 3V1. All I have to do is quickly kill off the Rank 17 and I can’t lose. The matches are so predictable and boring. All I do is demolish teams because there is one or two weak links that aren’t on the same skill level as me.

It also makes survivor queues longer because more survivors are piled into finding red rank killers because red rank survivors are bringing their yellow ranks friends into queue with them; while any killer below green ranks suffer from worse queue times.

As you said, there isn’t an absence of red rank killers. There are just more survivors getting matched with them due to the SWF matchmaking system.

  • The grass isn’t any greener on the other side either. As a Rank 1 killer I constantly get Rank 13-20 survivors who are in SWF with their one red rank friend. Matches are predictable and boring. All that happens is that the team DC’s and dies.

I should never be put against Rank 20 survivors.

  • Huntress should gain a 1% movement speed depending on the number of hatchets she currently carries.

    5 hatchets- 110%

    4 hatchets- 111%

    3 hatchets- 112%

    2 hatchets- 113%

    1 hatchet- 114%

    0 hatchets- 115%

That way it doesn’t make her incredibly overbearing but also not extremely susceptible to being looped while out of hatchets.

  • Most players I’ve seen that play Dwight are team players who fix gens and go for unhooks. Just depends on if they are a baby or not. Poor baby Dweets...I feel bad everytime I have to kill one.

  • Legion’s power gives survivors Borrowed Time and a Sprint Burst. At least Doc is SOMEWHAT threatening. Legion is not whatsoever. Survivors don’t even bother healing.

  • The game is full of RNG and players who don’t play as often as others. It’s way too wishy washy to be considered a competitive game. Why do people want this game to be competitive?

It’s not 100% casual but it’s more on the casual side than competitive.

I think they should just nerf every meta perk or buff those underwhelming perks you mentioned to create a more diverse meta.

I wouldn’t say to nerf ALL of the meta perks. Why break something that doesn’t need fixing?

    1. Surge shouldn’t have a cooldown. Should activate on the closest three generators to your location. Should work on ANY attack and should instantly regress generators to 10%. This perk I think needs the most fixing.
    2. Territorial Imperative shouldn’t have a cooldown.
    3. Blood Echo shouldn’t have a cooldown.
    4. Iron Maiden should have the exposed status effect for AT LEAST 30 seconds.
    5. I’m All Ears shouldn’t have a cooldown.
    6. Cruel Limits should block vaults from 32 meters at least. Blocking all vaults seems a bit powerful, although it would be pretty neat.
    7. Infectious Fright should show auras.
    8. Thrilling Tremors should block all generators regardless of if survivors are working on it or not.

Those are just a few suggestions I had in mind.

Plague is a strange one. I bought her at launch of the expansion and felt she was very underpowered. Then with the right perks and add-ons, she was ULTRA OP.

She really has a major power divide between Good survivors and survivors that are still learning.

Good strats to play against Plague:

    • MINIMIZE CLEANSING.
    • Do NOT CLEANSE in fountains near exit gates lolz.
    • Do NOT cleanse in fountains that are in killer shacks. (MEGA LOLZ).

Her add-ons are actually REALLY bad, and only a couple are good. Just like the Doctor (im sure there are others that are just as bad - LOLZ trapper).

From what it felt like for me. The projectile vomiting she does feels, like the add ons should have NOT been the way they are. The range she has, is an issue, and the duration of the puking.

    • Things like "Tablet add-on". leave me going "#########?! LOLZ".
    • while Emetics and Toe seam to be the ONLY useful add-on.

The emetic add-ons are good for getting quick downs but I find the Vile Purge cooldown add-ons better. You have basically no cooldown between puking. It’s similar to Oak Haft on Huntress but even faster. It can be the difference between getting a hit or a survivor getting to a vault or a pallet.

I find any of her Vile Purge add-ons to be good. Any of her Corrupt Purge add-ons are not useful. I would never play around Corrupt Purge because you might not even get to use it.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

The main problem is, that BHVR is too scared to nerf powerful perks. They are designing kinda bad perks with CDs while ignoring meta perks.

They are making somewhat decent perks but the cooldowns make the perk not worth it to run. Surge, Blood Echo, and Thrilling Tremors all have potential to be top tier perks but the cooldown on the perks make them not worth it over the meta perks.

If plague is so good where is she at red ranks? Never see her. The only times I do is when she is running the black incense addon. Which to be fair makes her really strong.

Just because a killer isn’t played frequently doesn’t mean they aren’t good. I don’t see a lot of Nurse at red ranks but she’s still easily the best. I don’t see a bunch of Spirit anymore and EVERYONE knows she’s a great killer.

Trapper is played a bunch but he’e not the best killer.

Plague isn’t played a lot but it doesn’t mean she’s not good. I see her just as much as I see any other killer.

Have you ever tried the strategy for yourself? You are a killer moving around with no terror radius. ZERO penalty due to this. It isn't add on dependent at all. It makes most of his add ons pointless. If anything it helps because the only add ons yo uwant are the cooldown ones.

Thana, Nurses, Sloppy, and whatever else you pick. No stalk means first hit is usually free and a good amount of the time its a grab. Easily resulting in a mistake directly after by the person you hit or the person there with. Same approach as Wraith and very easily you have everybody constantly injured everyone is off healing. This is even more of a problem for them if you brought Ruin and its up. If done right they have time to do just about nothing. Lol you can even get them at the exit gate easier as you can bother to stalk for the 1 shot at that point. This strategy turns the game on its head. No warning killer is coming for the first hit....being healed by teammates tells him where you are where his team is all while you don't know hes coming. Its actually CHEAP.

Its the only build I ever bothered to keep track of how I did with it. In 8 matches at rank 3 only one time did I get a 4k and it was because they spawned on Ruin. In 7 matches they couldn't get more than 2 of the gens done. I should keep my mouth shut but its not like I have more pull than truetalent....the approach is strong and they will surely do some type of nerf eventually.

How could Ghost be more loopable than Plague? If you encounter Plague you get 2 chances to loop her. No stalk ghost you will only have one chance to loop him....if he doesn't outright injure you then smash you with Nurses calling later on.

Plague counters all medkit and healing functions but a smart team will gen rush her. Then during the end even IF she has the 3gen. They cleanse and she gains her ability at the expense of the gens going off.

Survivors who aren’t aware of their surroundings will get snuck up on by a Ghostface. Not all maps have multiple LOS breakers like the indoor maps. Some maps are wide open areas (Autohaven, Asylum, MacMillan, etc...) you won’t always have a free hit on survivors if they are aware of where they are and their surroundings. Plus Spine Chill is pretty meta. Yeah you can go undetected but good survivors will know when you’re coming.

Plague has the potential to snowball incredibly easily and keep three gens on lock.

Ghostface is a normal M1 killer. He has no way to counter a loop. He can hide his red stain and try to mindgame but he can’t counter it. Plague at least has Corrupt Purge and the ability to instadown if they don’t cleanse which Ghostface does not have (if we are only discussing “No Stalk” GF).

I’ve 4K’ed over 10 rounds in a row at red ranks with Plague. I don’t lose that often. I typically win. That doesn’t mean anything though. One round I can kill them all easily and the next round I can get looped and demolished.-

Plague can get gen rushed...as can any killer in the game. A team can gen rush any killer.

I’m not saying Ghostface is a bad killer or that the build isn’t strong. I just believe Plague has the potential to be stronger and has better control of the game.

  • @Marcus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/943159#Comment_943159

No stalk Ghost Face is still an add-on and map reliant killer which gets completely countered by certain perks. I don't see how he's any better than Plague.

Agreed. Ghostface can sneak up on survivors but he is still a loopable killer with no map pressure and has to hit survivors twice if he’s not using stalk.

Plague is slightly less loopable, has a bit more map pressure (due to being able to puke on generators and stall because survivors don’t wanna touch the gens), and can basically instadown survivors if she hits all her vomit stream or if survivors don’t want to cleanse.

Plague can have an insane three gen strategy and stall the game with Thantaophobia if the team doesn’t cleanse and can easily down if they stay infected AND has easy tracking.

Ghostface is countered by perks. Plague completely counters all healing perks.

Ghostface isn’t a bad killer but I don’t think he’s better than Plague nor do I see why players call him top tier.

  • Plague is fine the way she is. My only issue is that it is in the survivors hand on whether she gets to use Corrupt Purge or not. I’m not really affected by it because I’d rather they not cleanse. It is much easier to have control of the map and you’ll easily find survivors.

Survivors should passively gain status effects while injured, for example

    1. 30 seconds- Hemorrhage
    2. 45 seconds- Blindness
    3. 60 seconds- Exhaustion
    4. 90 Seconds- Hindered

Those are just examples to make survivors WANT to cleanse against Plague so she’s not just running around smacking survivors and having no way to use Corrupt Purge.

    Her add-ons are fine.

She also needs a bigger deviousness gain. She is not on par with only killers with BP gain because her deviousness gain is so low.

She also does not pip well either.

I pretty much agree with everything said by @DudeDelicious and @Blueberry

  • It’s a dumb add-on. I believe the add-ons for increasing the number of hatchets that can he carried are stronger as well as the exhaustion add-ons.

I only see bad Huntresses use Iridescent Head and they always pair it with an ebony mori.

All she’s gotta do is get right behind you in touching distance and you’re down. It takes no skill. It just incentivizes bad gameplay.

It should be changed to an instadown past a certain distance (like 20 meters) and have her have be able to carry all five hatchets. That way it rewards you for being able to hit long range hatchets.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Maps are the problem yes but that doesn't mean we should ignore low tier killers.

Many of the low tier killers would perform better if map were reworked. Many killers can’t deal with strong set ups and just have to leave them. Unless you’re a killer that can just ignore all survivor defenses like Nurse or a killer that is so strong that they don’t have to play it normally like Spirit; you just gotta leave the loop or structure.

I don’t even bother chasing inside the asylum building because it’s so strong. If it were reworked, killers like Leatherface and Wraith could have actual potential on that map.

Not saying that some killer don’t need buffs but map reworks would certainly help.

For a while I used Mad Grit on Plague just because of that.

Then I got a streamer who said “your exploits were caught on stream” referring to spamming my attack button with Mad Grit.

I still chuckle about that occasionally.

  • @GrootDude said:

I’ve hear that GrootDude is pretty toxic, I’d avoid him if I were you. In all seriousness though, try to ignore those people, it is better for you to focus on the people who want to discuss with you. :)

Can’t be any worse than a MegHead. I heard you’d have better luck teaching a houseplant physics.

  • Sometimes you gotta play a bit scummy. I just got the challenge a few games ago as Pig. I got Disturbed Ward and the basement was in the killer shack and I got two potatoes who went down near the shack and their teammates didn’t save them. I downed a baby Claudette in shack and crouched in a corner and waited for the Meg to come for the save. She saw me and Sprint Bursted away. I downed her in the main building and I kept having her wiggle free until I got her close enough to the basement.

Basically you gotta play a killer who is good at defending the basement (Huntress, Trapper, Leatherface, Demogorgon, Hag) or play a bit campy and hope they are overly altruistic.

  • Legion and Jeff. As a matter of fact, just get rid of that entire DLC. Ormond is terrible.

  • I’m not the best killer but I’d say I can play Plague and Spirit the best.

I’m a bit rusty on Spirit. Combined with the fact that sounds are broken, her power is bugged, and I don’t play her as much...I’m just not as great with her as I once was.

  • Pale Rose is NOT a survivor sided map. The boat isn’t the strongest main structure when compared to other main structures on different maps. Survivors don’t have much to work with on that map besides the boat and the dock which are both able to be dealt with easily.

Grim Pantry is a different story though. That is a heavily survivor favored map.

I do agree that some maps need to be looked at (I’m looking at you Thompson House). Rotten Fields needs to be shrinked A LOT. The window should NEVER be open on Rancid Abattoir. There should only be one window open on Wretched Shop. The ENTIRE building on Disturbed Ward needs a change. Those are just a few examples.

  • It’s strong for survivors if they are conservative with pallets and get generators done fast. Once the pallets are gone the whole map is a dead zone. There is almost no vaults on the map so there is nothing keeping survivors safe besides the unmindgamable safe pallets.

Luckily for survivors the map is full of safe pallets that the killer HAS to break and the pallets seem endless so rarely do they run out of pallets before all the generators pop.

The map is definitely favored toward survivors because most of the pallets are safe. If they just throw down pallets and go through them quickly then the match will quickly turn into the killer’s favor.

  • Solo doesn’t mean anything. If I am playing against four really good optimal solo survivors I will probably lose, as will most killers who aren’t playing Nurse or Spirit. Any good players is going to be able to keep the killer occupied for a while. SWF isn’t going to change this. Most SWF groups aren’t even good.

Giving a second objective to power exit gates just for an off chance you get decent survivors isn’t the way to go.

My point is that you don’t need a second objective to power exit gates when most players aren’t that great.

  • @DwightOP said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/937481#Comment_937481

That's not a good examples. Them flowers were needed to unlock cosmetics + it wasn't needed to do in the first place to open gates. Obviously, people abused it to farm vials afap

Needing a secondary objective to open exit gates would be a bit much don’t you think? As a killer I already win about 85% of my matches. I don’t want to have my matches be predictable and boring.

Adding a secondary objective similar to cleansing totems wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Sitting on generator is boring so adding a secondary objective is a great idea. Having it be a MANDATORY objective for opening exit gates would be a little bit much. Players really don’t realize that as a killer they win most of their matches (if they’re good).

I would love for a secondary objective to be added.

Give something more engaging to survivors to complete and prolong the time of matches. Hopefully we see something like this soon ^^

I dunno how that will work out though. Remember the Hallowed Blight event in 2018 when every survivor was killing themselves for the petals? It was boring to play killer because you just destroyed everyone and frustrating for survivor because everyone killed themselves for the petals.

If a secondary objective was added for survivors, it can’t be a huge objective or matches will be super boring and predictable.

  • the pallet on Hawkins on the third floor is stun and go pallet.

The pallet in the temple by the generator is probably the worse pallet ever.

The pallet outside the chapel on Clown’s map by the window is terrible.

Most of the pallets on Badham are able to easily be bloodlusted.

I agree with the secondary objective but until then, ruin should be basekit. In this way, I can play with 4 perks instead of 3 if it goes down

Ruin should never be basekit. You’re taking a gamble bringing in a hex perk knowing that it can go down at any point in the match whether it be 30 seconds or 10 minutes.

Ruin is only really meant for early game, it’s not supposed to last all game. If I can get two hooks before it’s gone then it’s done it’s job. It’s supposed to prevent 3 gens from popping while the killer is trying to apply pressure and all survivors are full HP.

There is also other perks that either regress generators, slowdown progression, or gives you information on generators. Surveillance, Pop Goes The Weasel, Dying Light, Thanatophobia, Discordance, Corrupt Intervention, Overcharge, and Surge all come to mind. Players become so attached to Ruin, I’m one of them. Even though I know there are other perks.

  • I like the outfit itself but the head piece isn’t my favorite. Imma just stick with the long carnie red hair and crimson crop top with the leggings.

I’ll inevitably get the outfit though. I get most of Meg’s outfits.

  • I use Iron Will, DS, Adrenaline, and Dead Hard.

Basic ######### build...yeah I know. I’ve become attached to it and I don’t play survivor as often as I used to due to queue times so I use what I’m most comfortable with.

  • Ghostface can activate undetectable whenever he wants and moves at 115% movement speed with a small frame. He sacrifices a naturally smaller terror radius when not in Night Shroud. He doesn’t need a smaller terror radius when he can get rid of his terror radius at his own will.

Myers only has undetectable in EW I but moves like a slug. He has a smaller terror radius in EW II but can never have the undetectable status effect. He cannot control his terror radius unlike Ghostface.

Myers also can expose everyone but runs out of stalk on certain survivors. Ghostface can only expose one survivor but cannot run out of stalk. Both have differences that make them unique.

Myers needs more of a change than Ghostface. He needs to be more stealthy in EW II. He also shouldn’t run out of stalk on a survivor. Survivors stalk meter should gradually increase if Myers doesn’t stalk them for a certain period of time.

Assuming I'm a crying killer main again bud? I said 3k. The game is balanced around 3k imo. You should only fail to get a 3k on a balanced or killer map because you have no skill. Again, please read.

You must assume you’re a “crying killer main”: I never said you were but you keep bringing it up. If you believe you’re a “crying killer main” then just say so. It would be a lot easier if it came from you.

Balance is 2 escape and 2 are killer by the way. That’s the way the devs try to balance the game.

Am I talking to a brick wall?

Come on read before you post

Do you know what balance means? A balanced map does not entitled you to a 4K especially if the survivors are good. The round should be able to go either way without having one side be too overbearing. That’s balance. Not you destroying the survivors.

You aren’t missing much with Jason X. It’s a bit better than Part 8 and 9 but it’s on the lower end of an F13 movie list.

Not what I meant bud. I'm not a crying killer main don't condescend to me please.

Never called you a “crying killer main”

The game is meant to be your skill as a killer vs the survivors skill. What I’m saying is, just because you’re playing the best you could doesn’t mean you automatically deserve to win. Sometimes you just aren’t gonna win. Some maps aren’t going to be in your favor and sometimes the survivors are very coordinated and able to get the objectives done faster than you can kill them off.

Doesn’t mean you played wrong. Sometimes I’ll play perfectly but I still lose because of map design. It happens.

There's a couple of killers IF is used on and it's mostly instadowns or it's just wasting your own time, and I really don't play them.

CI is a really great way to ruin your own lategame because it basically guarantees the last 3-4 gens will be incredibly split up. I would personally never touch it with a 10 foot pole.

I never use either of those perks but I do know that Infectious Fright is pretty solid on killers who can either end chases quickly (Nurse/Billy) or killers with instadowns (Billy/Myers/Plague if survivors don’t cleanse). I’ve seen players make good use of it.

Corrupt Intervention is good for early game and can help apply some pressure. I don’t personally like it but again...players have made good use of it.

  • @Acromio said:

I'd like playing stealth killers. The thing is, none of them is viable.

I wouldn’t say Ghostface and Myers aren’t viable. They’re able to do well in your basic average match.

Against a really good group only a few killers are going to do well.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/935178#Comment_935178

Yee I can understand that. GF can be really fun to play, but staring at one that's leaning and stalking you without being able to reveal him is just a bad feeling.

I play against Ghostface probably more than any killer and I played him to see what all the hype was about. I gotta admit he is pretty enjoyable to play as so I see why people play him.

The reveal mechanic is super buggy. Sometimes you’ll stare right at him and you’re exposed and the next time you’ll reveal him behind a wall.

I universally hate all stealth killers because it makes me anxious when I don’t know when they’re nearby (which is good for a horror game I suppose). Especially Ghostface though. He moves at 115% movement speed and is undetectable and makes little noise and has a small frame unlike the towering Myers you can see from a mile away.

I was also super afraid of the Ghostface mask when I was younger so I am very jumpy around him. Sometimes I spook myself when I load into the match and he is staring at the screen XD.

Personal experience I guess. I have yet to have anyone escape through the gates on that map. Not many pallets and the gen spacing is pretty favorable if you don't lose the one up top early

Only reason I hate it is because it is SUPER dark. It’s bad when I also passed a Kate in her USA top hiding in the bamboo. I literally can see in front of my face sometimes. Guess I’m just blind. I get stuck on rocks I can’t even see.

I hated Yamaoka before but now it’s even worse.

Plus having a long wall connected to shack is terrible. Reminds me of Thompson House.

It’s far from killer sided :/

I would fix the mistake I made and not go for all teachables. It'd cut the bloodwebs needed to make a decent or fun build in half or more to not have the heap of garbage that can show up.

Seriously, can you imagine a world where Up the Ante wouldn't waste bloodwebs, or Beast of Prey, or everything from plague's perks onwards as killer?

2 out of 3 of Plague’s perks are pretty good and used quite a bit. Corrupt Intervention and Infectious Fright are used pretty frequently.

  • They are fun to play as because it’s always a joy to scare survivors and get gen grabs. You also don’t have to worry about them running away as soon as they hear the heartbeat.

Not so much fun to play against though. I probably dislike Ghostface the most out of any killer.

  • It’s all RNG based. If you get any indoor map, survivors can easily escape if they time it right.

Sometimes you get a HUGE map like Red Forest or Rotten Fields and the gates are clear across the map.

Sometimes you can stand on a hill and see both gates leading to a killer easily guarding both gates.

Sometimes the survivor has a key and it doesn’t matter.

It’s not always killer sided. The survivors had many chances of escape and failed at all of them. If they get unlucky with exit gate RNG then that’s tough.

I understand that and I hope you now understand the reason I deserve to win is because I am not satisfied unless I'm performing at my best.

I’ve gotten screwed over hard by map design many of times but I just deal with the fact that I wasn’t meant to win that round against an optimal team.

Yeah you may have done better on Shelter Woods rather than Disturbed Ward but that doesn’t mean you “deserved to win”.

  • Out of all the themes the Stranger Things theme was clearly the best in my opinion.

If we are taking original killers then I’d say Clown.

  • Killers hate it because they’re bored all match and have to check every bush and corner for survivors. ESPECIALLY on a map like Yamaoka, it’s so dreadfully boring. I snooze.

As a survivor, if I see survivors with Urban Evasion crouching around when the match JUST started I roll my eyes and keep going. The best part about DBD is the chase. What’s the point of playing generator simulator. It’s so boring. If my teammates are going to crouch on the outskirts of the map and not do generators, cleanse totems, search chests, save teammates, or DO SOMETHING then they are useless.

In a nutshell, immersion is boring.

  • I play most of the killers but the two I play the most are Spirit and Plague. These two are probably the best killers aesthetically that they have created.

I love the creepy vibe around Spirit and she is very fun to play as. I’ve played her ever since she was released.

Plague I’ve also played a bunch since she was released. I love that fact that she has free tracking with sick survivors and can counter all healing perks and if they DO cleanse then she gets a strong power. Plus she’s so regal and bougie. She walks like she KNOWS she’s better than you.

  • If the other side is meming around with me. Like survivors staring at me in the face or turning their camera angle way up so their heads look like ducks. Or if the killer spins in circles and moonwalks before killing me. If they can make me laugh then it’s a pretty satisfying loss.

If I played well as a killer then I’m not ever upset. I’m never about getting outplayed, it’s more FPS drops, bugs, and map designs that make me wanna pull out my hair. I hate getting BHVR’ed.

As a survivor I really don’t care if I die. If my team can escape then it’s a win for me.

If I had fun in the game then it’s satisfying to win or lose.

  • I was Meg wearing the green jogging headband with the red hoodie and red sweatpants and I actually survived. I was with my two other friends who also bought the game at the same time. I was all our first round. Map was Red Forest and I’m pretty sure the killer was Myers.

As a killer I played Pig on Lery’s and I got teabagged and hooked one survivor I think. Didn’t even know what scratch marks were.

I'll be honest, never watched the first four parts of the F13 franchise, just all the rest but it's in my backlog.

Ahhhh! The first four F13 movies are the best (besides Part 6). Anything after Part 6 is skipable. I don’t care for the movies after adult Tommy Jarvis defeated Jason. I prefer “human Jason” over “zombie Jason”.

I’d definitely recommend the first four F13 movies. Part 3 and Part 4 are two of my favorites.

F13 as a whole is a cheesy 80’s horror movie series but Jason is a recognizable icon and is loved among horror fans.
