KILLER
Default: Plague
Cosmetics: Spirit’s Burial Kimono
Event: Nurse’s Withered Blight

PROS:
- You no longer are reliant on a killer hosting the lobby so if they lobby dodge you stay in the lobby until another killer joins. So no more getting kicked to matchmaking for 10+ minutes.
- No more 600+ ping games because of a bad connection.
- When the servers work the games runs pretty smooth.
CONS:
- Dead Hard sometimes does nothing and results on being exhausted on the ground.
- Getting hit through pallets and windows is much worse.
- Sometimes you get teleported backward as both survivor and killer.
- It is automatically worse for killer because now you have a ping when you didn’t before.
- Survivors make more rapid turns and spins with dedicated servers so it is easier to get spun especially on console.

I disagree. I think she's good and certainly in a better spot than a lot of other killers, but she is JUST shy of being top tier. The range limit on her traps really limits her play potential especially on large maps.
Also couple the fact she is another killer with a way for survivors to disable her power and she's not top tier, just shy of it.
Who do you consider top tier? In my own personal tier list I consider Nurse, Spirit, Hag, and Billy top tier in that order.

Ghost Face because they usually react to my username and be playful. We have a good time, I usually make them hook me in the end.
Do you play on PS4? I think I’ve seen somebody with your name before.
-
Myers and Demogorgon
-
Red ranks. I mainly play Plague, Spirit, and Pig
-
Hag the most boring killer? You misspelled Freddy Kruger.
Just a matter of an opinion. I don’t find Billy fun to face. At all.
Hag is decently fun to play against in a chase. It’s just that her playstyle is extremely campy and return to the hook.
-
Blendettes annoy me the most due to the fact that Yamaoka, MacMillan, and corn maps exist.
I guess the survivor that loops me the most is probably Dwight for a male survivor and Nea for a female survivor. Yui is slowly climbing that “annoying survivor who tries to get my attention by abusing a strong loop” list.
-
I have complained about this in the past. Sounds are something killers HEAVILY rely on.
I do play Spirit quite a bit and everytime I play her now I get more and more disappointed and distant from playing her. I hit a survivor and they make ZERO injured moans as if they have Iron Will and they do not. I always run Stridor on Spirit so I should hear some kind of noise. Nope. I hear nothing.
I’ve lost some games due to not being able to hear a survivor right beside me. It’s ridiculous that sound issues have gone on since the Oni patch and we’ve gotten zero fixes for it.
It also feels like chase music is amplified. The chase music should be toned down a bit on the killer side. They have to listen for sound. It’s fine to have louder chase music on the survivor side but not the killer side. Sometimes I can’t even hear footsteps over how loud the chase music is.
It’s ridiculous how every other patch is sound bugs.

everyone moves on and play another game, this doesn't mean that what you/we faced wasn't a frustrating situation.
It's not a matter of 4k or winning, you can win and 4k and still be frustrated at how the match went. If this doesn't happen to you, well, good for you, but again: play only Legion and Clown for a couple of weeks, then come back :P.
Maybe you are just exceptionally Zen, who knows.
I try not to get angry over small things. If a survivor outplays me and loses me in a chase then nice job on their part.
If something happens like framedrops cucking me over, sounds bugs, and game breaking glitches THEN I’ll get frustrated over the game being fundamentally broken.
I can play Clown and Legion all day long and be bored to death but I already know in the end it really has no effect on my personal life whether I win or lose. It’s only a game. It’s an ego/pride thing that players get upset over when they lose.
The situation I faced might have been hard or frustrating but why get mad over it? The survivors are only doing what they’re meant to do. Survive. It’s like me getting mad at a killer because he killed me first.

I think that yes, you do care (well, not for a week, duh!), since you just stated that playing Legion and Clown is masochistic, it's just that you play killers that are strong enough for you to not face too much the frustration :).
In fact, you see as an example of fun killer not other than Hillbilly and Spirit, which are arguably two of the strongest killers in the game.
I just played Clown my last game. Two died and two escaped through the hatch with a key. I’m not gonna moan over the fact that they escaped with a key, it is what it is. I’ll move on and play another game. You win some and you lose some. I hate playing Clown and Legion because they are boring. I play a lot of Pig but she is considered “weak”. She’s just more fun.
I don’t care enough about the 4K to complain about it and whine because I had one bad match.
I don’t play Billy, ever. His power is just more enjoyable. I mainly play Plague and Spirit.

Well, apparently playing killer is not frustrating so...!
Depends on what killer you are talking about and how easily you get frustrated.
I personally don’t get frustrated easily as killer because I just don’t care enough about the 4K.
Playing Clown and Legion won’t be as fun as a killer like Spirit or Billy. They’re not as good and their powers are just boring. I find Clown and Legion to be boring as hell to play. The only reason I find Clown even mildly entertaining is his laugh.
It’s a game, it has no effect on me personally. Whether I win or lose is irrelevant. I’ll forget about it the next day. You think I’m gonna care about the Blendette that butt danced at the exit gate a week ago?

Play only Clown and Legion for a couple of weeks (no Ruin, of course), then read this topic again :P.
Only a masochist would play only Clown and Legion. Who wants to be in pain that badly?

Not to be rude or anything, but if you've ever faced strong survivors, you'd ought to be frustrated.
Unless you have the skin of a rhino, then I just envy you.
Facing a very strong survivor group is few and far between though. I’d like to see where these people are going against these GOD survivor groups. A majority of my killer matches are chill with the average survivor player.
I would rather face strong survivors than complete potatoes. It becomes boring facing survivors who are bad. The outcome is predictable. I would rather have a challenge than a landslide victory in my favor all the time.
-
Can you pass the milk?
-
I also play both sides at high ranks and I rarely get frustrated either. I get frustrated more-so over the game cucking me over (sounds not working, no lunge for Spirit/Wraith, frame drops, etc...). I don’t get frustrated over getting outplayed by a survivor.
People are preparing for the Ruin change which is another reason they are going to find killer frustrating but it’s not even a bad change. It’s just at a bad time. No way can a low map pressure killer like Huntress defend gens on a map like Rotten Fields which is the size of Saturn. If all maps were the size of Coal Tower OR if there were more options for an early game delay perk, there would be no issue.
It’s a game. You win some and you lose some. It doesn’t matter the outcome.

Lately Freddy has killed me the most.
All round I’d say I’ve died to Spirit or Billy the most.
I’ve definitely been moried by Myers the most though.
-
Hag is underrated and WAY better than Billy in my opinion. She’s not better than Spirit though. You HAVE to spend a lot of time setting up traps with Hag and corral survivors into your traps. OoO and flashlights also wreck Hag pretty badly while all Spirit has to do is open her ears and learn to track sounds and she’s automatically better at ending chases quicker with way less effort.
Nurse is still the best killer to me.
-
Ghostface is my least favorite killer because he has two things I hate playing against, a stealth mechanic and the ability to one shot you. His entire power is buggy and cheesy. I despise Ghostface which is weird because I love the Scream movies.
Even though you don’t like playing against him doesn’t mean he has no counterplay though.
The ONLY thing that should be changed is the reveal mechanic because it’s legit broken. You can stare at him and he’ll still expose you or he’ll get revealed behind a wall.

Favorite: Myers and Demogorgon
Least favorite: Ghostface and Freddy

Started playing on Xbox in 2017. Reached rank 1 in both killer and survivor. Moved to pc in August of 2018. (It's annoying my frames are capped at 62, but it's still better than the 30 frames I was getting on console.) I play on Ultra and main Spirit, Trapper, Ghostface, Hag, and Freddy currently. Naturally, rank 1 in both killer and survivor on pc as well.
My opinion on ruin is that it needed changed but the timing is currently awful to make the change due to the reason for it being used not being adressed and that Peanits made a statement for the change that was clearly biased towards survivors. For someone that claims to play both sides it's rather interesting that he could release such a one sided statement.
However, I will be blunt. When the ruin change goes live I will most likely no longer play hag, trapper, ghostface, and maybe even freddy. They lack the mobility necessary to pressure gens at red ranks. This is especially the case against SWF.
I do not use ruin on spirit. It's not necessary in the slightest. Sounds broke in chase and can't hear survivors next to you?Think devs will fix it? I gave up on hoping for that fix weeks ago. Run stridor and you'll be fine. If survivors complain and say it's a crutch... tell them the devs should fix the sounds in chase then. (Yeah survivors are mostly gonna hate you. Get used to it.) Lol.
If you want to know a good build for spirit atm focus on speed and blood. Ignore the gens mostly since hitting them would waste time and hexes are unreliable by both design and placement. Sloppy, stridor, thanataphobia, and then a perk of your choice. I recommend nurses, bloodhound, make your choice, whispers, bbq & chili....
There are others as well. Mix and match as you see fit until you find something that works for you. As for most optimal add-ons take mother-daughter ring and father's glasses. Or prayers beads and that green add-on that considerably reduces the spirits phase cooldown. Why prayer beads? They got nerfed right? Umm no. That's just naive thinking. You can still get gen grabs with prayer beads in their current state. (Its only a bit harder really) Just initiate a chase and make the survivor think your after them. If their in swf they'll tell their friends their being chased. Phase to gen and grab instead of chasing. Works well in red ranks because the survivors are cocky and trying to rush gens. Did it twice in a single full red rank trial.
My thoughts on future killers is this. I'll play the ptb and see how optimal they are against red ranks. If they aren't up to par then I won't buy them.
They nerf spirit again I'm gone. Why? She's the only killer I have left that can compete with SWF in red ranks. Im sure someone will say learn nurse... Frankly, nurse is to difficult to learn, and her rework made it so that the killer is punished too harshly if the chain blink misses repeatedly. Her add-ons are also terrible btw.
Then I'm sure I'll get the well you shouldn't think you deserve a 4k. Sighs.... never cared in the first place. But, I would like to at least have the chance to do it. Otherwise, why call this a horror game?
(Some advice for killers that swap to survivor. Change your name. It will spare you from being griefed by salty survivors that you may have played against previously that hold a grudge.)
Fellow killers, good luck!
Some killers rely more on early game slowdown but I do not believe Trapper, Hag, or Freddy need it.
I also run Stridor on Spirit. She’s so strong in a chase and ends them so quickly than Ruin isn’t needed as you said. I just get confused because sometimes the game just gives survivor Iron Will for no reason.
Freddy is strong enough with Disordance and PGTW. He can just teleport to a generator after hooking a survivor. I don’t think Freddy relies on Ruin at all.
Hag is also so strong in a chase and requires set up so Corrupt Intervention is actually better then Ruin on Hag in my opinion. Same with Trapper except he is a lot weaker than Hag is.
Some players also don’t realize that a lot of the time they basically play without Ruin due to it breaking in the first 30 seconds without them finding a survivor.
-
Does Jake need a babysitter?
-
Rank 1 survivor and Rank 1 killer.
Age is 21.
-
I don’t target anyone for a specific reason. Unless they show that they are trying to BM me. I show them a nice “fun” game of Spirit next time I see them.
I’m more likely to try to get rid of a survivor based on the item they have. Why would I go after the Nea who is clicking her flashlight when I can go after the Tapp who has Stake Out and a commodious toolbox? I never give players what they want. If they want to be chased I leave them alone, makes them mad.
If I had to choose a specific character it would most likely be Claudette.
-
I use Dead Hard as my exhaustion perk since BL was nerfed. It’s easily the best exhaustion perk. People use it to bait a hit which will never work against a competent killer more than once. It’s used to gain distance in a chase and get more out of a loop.
It’s not always reliable though.
-
The Smasher would be cool, definite interest.
I hope the next killer is a female though. It just seems like they are stronger and the devs put more work into them. Nurse, Spirit, Hag, Plague, and Huntress are all aesthetically pleasing and have strong powers.
I always get excited for a female killer because they’re usually the better killers in my opinion.
-
Extremely boring to play against. I despise playing against Freddy. It’s overall never a good experience. Just a snooze fest, pun intended.
I haven’t played as Freddy since his rework so I don’t really have an opinion other than what I’ve seen other players do. He’s strong.
Even though I hate playing against him, he doesn’t need changes. Overall he’s in a good place. Just not gonna be the most pleasant killer to play against.

Freddy is top 3, good chase potential(snares or pallets) good map pressure(teleporting to gens with cooldown that decreases for each sleeping survivor)
I put Freddy in Top 5 at best.
- Nurse
- Spirit
- Hag
- Billy
- Huntress/Freddy/Plague are all interchangeable
I just can’t put Freddy above the Top 4. They all can have way better map pressure, end chases sooner, and cut loops off more effectively (except Billy). Freddy is more of an annoyance that actually a VERY top tier killer.

-
If he is then he is the worst of the best. He is either the VERY bottom of A tier or the very top of B tier.
No way is he better than Hag or Billy. He’s right around the Huntress/Freddy tier.
-
Steve is mah boi. Who doesn’t love Momma Steve?

Plague because I play her the most.
Huntress would be cool as well since she already has a unique lullaby.

If Clown ever gets a change then he’d probably get new chase music like Doctor.

The only real barrier besides the actual console manufacturers (Sony is notorious for denying cross play...or is it Nintendo? I don't remember), would be framerate.
The game itself, survivors playing on a controller are at no disadvantage when compared with mouse/keyboard survivors. They can literally do all the same stuff (aside from pointless things like moonwalking) at the same pace and speed. Which in turn makes it so console killers lives wouldn't change much beyond what they already deal with. That's one thing I commend BHVR on. They definitely created something where crossplay, balance wise, is more than workable.
The issue is the framerate. Most PC players are running at at LEAST 60FPS. As far as I have seen in my own experience on my PS4 Pro, DBD on consoles has a hard time maintaining even 30fps. Framerate differential is a huge issue.
Survivors are not at a disadvantage. Using a controller is no different than mouse/keyboard as you said, but console killers would be affected.
It’s already not as easy on console killers because you can’t do everything as well on controller as you can on mouse/keyboard.
Framedrops as you said are also an issue. I’d love for crossplay to come to DBD but I don’t know if it is possible.

That's been happening to me personally sense DH has come out. I don't think that's a server issue.
I play on PS4 and I have never been exhausted on the ground until yesterday when the dedicated servers were dropped.
-
I don’t find the new Ruin change to be bad. It’s just at a bad time. When you have maps the size of Jupiter like Rotten Fields and the Red Forest maps, killers with no map pressure (Clown, Huntress, Plague) just can’t pressure generators.
If certain maps were shrinked in size it would be a great change.
The Ruin change doesn’t affect high mobility killers but makes the low mobility killers even less viable.

Stopped reading at pipping at 1 kill. A low rank can pip with 1 kill, but the emblem system is often more ruthless than a woman on Black Friday. Iv had far too many 3 kill or 25K BP black pip games to count, but don't recall ever earning a pip off a 1 kill game outside of yellow ranks.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/981831#Comment_981831
You asked me for proof. I gave examples. Now Im asking for you to do the same. That's now these things work, you gotta back up your claims with examples. Not just a "he said/she said" one line reply.
Please explain how SWF isn't cheating when if gives information Survivors aren't suppose to have without paying a cost and/or when it actively bypasses ranking and matchmaking systems.
“Stopped reading at pip with 1 kill”. Okay...well since you’re gonna be that way, you’re gonna have to deal with the fact that you will have to deal with SWF groups because it’s NOT considered cheating by the devs and they aren’t getting rid of it because it would literally kill the game.
Any normal match against an SWF group is going to be your average match. Half the time I believe the team is SWF and they say that they were all solo. Just play the damn game and worrying about if people play with their friends or not. It’s not hard to do my dude.

If SWF groups can simply goof around and not bother to try and win, but still do well against Killers of "equal" skill playing for keeps. That's a problem.
If Killers have to work their asses off to earn their rank. It is only fair play to expect the same from Survivors. Not every SWF is a death squad, never said they was. But I am saying that SWF is simply unfair as a whole.
I’ve never in my life as killer had to work for my rank nor as survivor. Bringing up a broken ranking system where Legion can pip off of 1 kill and Plague can de-pip from a 4K isn’t stating anything other than the emblem system favors some killers over others.
And who is SWF unfair to? Because I’m certainly not gonna be losing a match as killer when I have 2 Rank 16 Claudettes self caring in a corner not contributing to their team. Red rank killers get matched with low ranks because they are in an SWF group. It’s basically a 2V1 because all I have to do is kill the two Rank 16 survivors quickly and then it’s just the two red rank survivors. Nobody will win a 2V1 no matter how good they are.
Of course you’ll lose some matches against a good SWF group just like you’ll lose some matches against 4 good solo survivors but blaming everything on the fact that they are friends just seems whiny. I win the majority of my matches against SWF groups.

No Killer in the game breaks the games own rules. SWF bypasses rank, gives over a dozen perks for free, and allows coordination well beyond the game ever intended to have.
That's why SWF is hated. It's a legal form of cheating. SWF is a root cause of the vast majority of balance problems in DbD. KYF should have been worked into a proper unranked mode instead of forcing SWF into ranked and breaking the game ever since.
SWF is literally just friends playing with each other. A majority of the SWF groups I go against I can easily beat. It doesn’t matter if they have free information, if they’re not as skilled as you are then they won’t beat you. The only time an SWF group beats a good killer is when they are all on equal skill level.
A majority of SWF groups are just having fun and goofing around. I survive more solo than I do in a SWF groups. I just don’t see these death squads people are talking about nor does it happens every single game because the very moment a killer gets a 4 man escape and they had a sweaty group, they forget about the 8 previous rounds they had that they won and destroyed them all.
Games are only stressful if you let them be stressful.
-
Used Dead Hard and got downed and exhausted on the ground. Second match in by the way. Yay.
-
I don’t think Mother Daughter Ring is that powerful especially because sounds are bugged currently. If I couldn’t see the scratch marks, sometimes I would’ve lost the survivor because they randomly gain Iron Will sometimes even when I have Stridor equipped.
I don’t think MDR should have a downside.
I dunno. It’s a decent add-on but I would rather use duration and power recovery speed add-ons.

Plague is SMOKIN. That strut is enough to make the boys come crawling.

Iridescent Head is very strong if paired with Infantry Belt, but it’s weak on it’s own.

People regularly get 2-3 kills after the last gen pops, whether due to Rancor, NOED, Remember Me, Blood Warden, over-altruism, Moris, etc.
Is that LOSING + WINNING?
*gets sucked into paradox*
People that say the game is over at that point, just aren't playing people that are capable of providing solid/exciting games, I guess.
That is if they are running an endgame build and sacrificing other perks to MAYBE get use out of an endgame build.
Not to mention that if they are all on death hook you cannot feed on their altruism.
If survivors make it to the end of the game and even one escapes through the exit gate I count that as a loss on my part personally.
In a regular match, you’re not coming back if you have four competent survivors at the end of the game. If you have NOED (which isn’t even reliable and might not even happen), Blood Warden, and potato survivors then sure you can kill them all. Good survivors though? Not a chance.

"Why should you get upset that they completed their objective when you failed at yours?"
The objective is to escape, though. They have not escaped yet, so they have not finished their objective.
"It can be overbearing if all four survivors have Adrenaline but at that point you have LOST. Having all four survivors at the end of the game is a L on your point as a killer."
No, you haven't. The game isn't over until all Survivors are either safely out of the trial or dead.
What are the odds though? If you have four competent survivors at the end of the game you probably already lost.
If they are all on death hook that’s the worst case scenario because you can’t feed on their altruism. You basically have to be running NOED and have a crutch Blood Warden because no way you’re killing anymore than one or MAYBE two survivors without NOED at the end of the game if they are all competent.
In my own view, if any survivor escapes through the exit gate I lose.
-
They’ve completed all five gens and you failed to kill them all before the generators activate. Why should you get upset that they completed their objective when you failed at yours?
It can be overbearing if all four survivors have Adrenaline but at that point you have LOST. Having all four survivors at the end of the game is a L on your point as a killer.
It’s strong but it doesn’t reward survivors for nothing like the old Mettle of Man did.
Old MOM rewarded survivors for getting hit and punished killers for doing the objectives.
Adrenaline rewards survivors for completing all the generators.
