  • Happens quite often when I play hag. In less than 50% of the games I make it to the totem first to trap it before its gone alreadey. The fact that you barely see it anymore as killer doesnt help either

Then they "fixed" totem placement on it some patch later, due to the outcry.

    As usual.

    sad but true

  • Its not trapper who needs a buff, its gentime and looping that needs to be adressed

  • With the hatch closing mechanic where you need to complete a gen to open it again it might have seen play, but survivors effectively prevented the closing thing

This is true unless they are intentionally trying to keep your attention

I've been trying to get this through to him about BL 3, if you get to that point you've been chasing them too long. If someone kites you that long they're doing it intentionally to make you waste time. The top killers always abandon bad chases instead of getting to BL 2 let alone BL3.

Most survivors don't have an issue with Nurse, they don't like her but they also don't quit. I take it as a challenge to face the strongest killer in the game.

You might take it as challenge.
I am currently stuck at rank 15 because everytime the "special" survivors in my team hear a nurse blink, they simply quit. I am only talking about my own experience, sure its low rank survivor atm but I really dont care about ranking up as long as they dont fix the DC problems. (I play solo btw)

Since there are no servers, the ping depends solely on the players. If you have a day where everyone had a bad ping, then its on your side

Honestly I'm getting tired of these scummy SWF survivors not wanting to help anyone that's not in their group, it's irritating and unfair to people who enjoy to play by themselves.

Which is worse, honestly, Bloodlust after 30+ seconds of looping or... Nothing But Nurses, all day, every day? Nurse is the ONLY killer that doesnt rely on Bloodlust to stop looping. The only reason why other Killers get used is because Bloodlust allows them to reduce the loops too about a minute. Even if you dont down them, they have to do something OTHER than loop. Nerf the Bloodlust, you will get NOTHING BUT LOOPS as any other killer but Nurse. Any Killer who is serious and nit just messing around will be forced to use Nurse to stand a chance.

Your Choice, Nerf Blood lust and get nothing but Nurses, or, leave it alone and get more variety in Killers

Survivors prefer DCing against nurse and playing against the baby killers they can loop

What a way to ruin the experience/fun for someone don't you think?

Wait, how do I ruin their experience? Isnt it the point of the game being chased and killed eventually?

Yeah eventually, but when the killer solely tunnels you and camps you instead of chasing others or patrolling gens it kinda takes the fun away doesn't it. I mean camping and tunneling is such a huge issue that has been discussed since the release of this game so why endorse that kind of behavior?

    I dont camp.
What do you mean when talking about tunneling? Do you mean using common sense as in not hooking everyone 2 times before actualyl killing someone? Then yes, I tunnel
Do you mean standing next to the hook waiting for someone coming for the farm? Then no, I dont tunnel

Seems like devs dont agree with that, look at the latest Q&A. Survivors will receive insane buffs and killers will be nerfed at the same time

Yup. Which is why I'm maining survivor until they fix things a bit. I much prefer to main killer, but I'm not into S&M.

Hopefully if the killer numbers dwindle enough, they'll get the message.

Me too. Unfortunately its not possible to play solo survivor anymore. As ex-rank 1 survivor I am unable to leave rank 15/14 because everyone DCs.. its kinda pathetic so I am playing monstre hunter now^^

For killers, camping is still too strong. It was always one of the best strategies to 4k (proxy/bait camp first guy, win the 1vs3) and it singlehandedly wins low-mid rank games. I really believe, after the recent survivornerfs, that the base hooktime needs to be increased.

Could you elaborate on how the recent survivor nerfs have either decreased the loop or increased the camping? I must have missed those patchnotes...

In 2.0 palletvacuum got removed. Really big deal (no sarcasm)

Also double pallets got removed earlier this year.

Camping didnt get changed. Thats the whole problem.

Pallets are about to get a huge buff, so let's see how that plays out in PTB.  I think it is going to make last-second pallet drops far less likely to result in a hit.

Pallet vacuum was just survivors teleporting to the other end of the pallet while dropping it. Killers got their pickup vacuum removed at the same time. Which makes it easier to hit them, when they try to pick someone up who is under a pallet.
Double pallets still exist. The reduced number of pallets only affected a few maps (by 1 less pallet) but increased the pallets on most maps.

Killers got more perks that give them an incentive to leave the hook like BBQ and MYC. So camping has indeed cosiderably decreased.

Palletvacuum was a HUGE distance gain for looping and that got removed. Its a really noticable nerf, so i dont know why you want to ignore that. It was one of the most impactful changes for dbd.

The pickup vacuum was balanced with reduced pick up time. Fine by me, makes no difference tbh

Double pallet setups do not exist, except the minimum amount of pallets havent spawned, then they can fill up double pallet setups. And pallets have been decreased in general. There are no pallet spawns for double pallet setups regularly, which didnt happen before 2.0

Doube pallets still exist, there is a common double pallet spawn on the corn map with the big house (cant remember map name). It has been a thing for ages now and I can confirm that it is still possible after 2.0 (not sure about latest patch though, rarely play anymore)

  • Ive lost one hook due to that perk so far. I consider it quite weak yeah.

They cant mess with the wiggle speed however or it will be impossible to hook someone with all the bodyblocks

I agree, killers absolutely dominate at low ranks. But when you get 1k+ hours as a survivor (not even mentioning SWF) you will see how difficult it is for the killer. They cant let dominant SWF groups with thousands and thousands of hours dictate the game at higher ranks. Get more hours in and you will see

SWF groups with experience already dictate the game. The only exception is an experienced nurse, thats the only chance a killer has against such a swf

Side note, I didnt play a match as killer, went AFK to get food about 2 gens in, ending up the hatch spawned right in front of me. I get back about 30 minutes later and see the match it still going on and the survivor is like... scouting the area waiting for me to leave... thats sick.

A person playing DBD has to have a very special character in general. I am not surprised at all that some players actually have standoffs over several hours and actually are ready to react all the time.

Usually when someone forces me into an standoff I get sth to eat and watch a movie/series, come back after 45 mins or sth and hit the survivor/enter hatch.
Its always funny when the other guy argues in the endgame chat that he was afk all the time and just came back when I entered hatch/downed him. It always makes me wonder what these guys are actually doing with their life

    Heyo.

So there is actually a system in place to punish people who disconnect. On a monthly basis, anyone who disconnected from over a certain percentage of their games received a softban. The reasoning behind this is as you mentioned, sometimes there are legitimate times to disconnect. We also want to leave the option open to leave if you're just plain not having fun. It's just an issue when you're doing it too much, because it hurts the other players in the lobby.

Although we may be able to detect how someone disconnected, you shouldn't differentiate between them. If you only punish intentional disconnects by clicking the leave button, people will catch on and just start pulling the plug to avoid punishment. It would trick the game into thinking you just list connection. So it's important to treat them all equally, but give a margin for error.

As for being able to buy 'forgiveness' from the shop, I wouldn't want to see this. This basically creates a "pay to disconnect" system where those with extra cash to throw around are above the rules. The idea is that we don't want to see that type of behaviour in the first place.

I used to derank by DCing when I played the game regularly. I never even got a warning. The system that is currently implemented (if there is sth at all) is completely useless.

A queue time punishment as suggested is used by any other competitive game and there is literally no reason why DBD shouldnt have such a system, or is there one?

I can only imagine toxic survivor mains grumbling that they cant DC anymore but they would never say that in public I guess?

If you are leaving in a competitive game, thats fine, but then you will have to deal waiting 5 minutes. I am fine waiting 5 minutes after I dced against a hacker or sth like that but it shouldnt be a thing that there is at least every 2nd game someone Dcing

Of course every DC has to be punished, no matter whether technical or intentional, other games dont make a difference here either.

  • @S0ckenSchuss said:
As a billion times before, the neverending Story of the Disconnect(er)s continues.

There are 3 kinds of DCs.

1st: technical Issues, Real Life things. Game Crash to Desktop, Internetconnection is broken for a short time, Telephne rings or a fresh hot pizza is delivered at the door. - There is NO Problem with all of that and similar things.

2nd: The "I see, There is, I dont like" - Disconnecters.
Most time you will find them on surv side. the match starts, the first mate screams because of the doctors Madness, and BAM one is gone. He dont want to play against the doctor. Or the next one finds a jigsawbox on the map and DCs becaus he dont want to play against the Pig. And so on.

3rd: The "I Teabag you and when you catch me i DC" - players. The worst of all.
They ran into your sight, flashlightklick you hard, makes moves with their arms and start to juke you. After every pallet they teabag and IF, but only IF you hit them down, they DC immediatly. Because you are not allowed to knock them down, of course. If you are a lucky killer and get the teabagger at a hook befor he DCs you you get points at least.

So in a ranked gamemode, why is that allowed by the game? The DCer is gone and starts over the next round. The difficulty for the other 3 survs increases, their chances of higrank pip decreases just because of such (sorry for that ->) idiots.

I suggest a Lobby joining delay for every DCer. (If a killer dodge a lobby (close it befor all got ready) there is already a timer of 5 seconds. So the mechanism is already in the game.

Let me tell you what i think should happen.

1 (first) DC - 2 or 5 mins Delay. Thats also ok for Phonecalls or the hot Pizza that is delivered
    2nd DC 5 or 10 minutes
    3rd DC 15 or 20 minutes

Here comes a cut and we call it Stage one Delay

Now we start Stage two Delay
    4 DC 30 mins
    5 DC 45 Mins
    6 DC 90 Mins
    More DC 2h Delay

When a DCer has a delay he just can play kyf and tutorial. No swf, no solo surv, no killer. The delay counter also counts if the player closes the game and does something else of course.

Sounds hard? It HAVE TO BE hard.
But what about to reset the DC counter? In my opinion i would say every 13th of a Month should reset the DC counter for every player for free. you know what i mean.

But hey the Devs can use the InGame Shop for reset the counter too. It helps the game, the devs and all fair players

Add an item to the store that resets the stage one delay. It cost an amount of "The blue things you get at levelup". (because technical and reallife issues and reasons for DCs also have a fair chance to reset) maybe limit that item to 1-3 per month to prevent abusing.

Add another item to the store for resetting stage 2 delays. That HAVE to cost auric cells. (for all that Kind 2 and 3 DCers ;) )
If you want a fair play you limit that item to 1 per month. if you want to earn money you sell it multiple times - its your choice :chuffed:

I read somewhere here that devs are able to see, how a DC was about. if it has been over pause menu or network error. dont know if this is correct, but if it is, this could be also used to identify the kind 2 and 3 DCers maybe.

All of this is just an idea that would help ALL of the fair players and the devs also. It can be balanced of course. its just the basic model i would prefer.

When someone want to avoid a lobby. he should leave before thje match starts or he should at least get hooked and let himself die to leave the match. (noone needs to stay in spectator mode of course. i dont think thats a classical DC and shouldnt be punished)

Hope you like it - It would help alot. really alot. DC ing is one of the biggest problem in DBD

    Kind regards,
    S0ckenSchuss

    +1

Im tired of DCing and it has become so common nowadays that I hardly play DBD anymore.
ANY other competitive game punishes DCing, ONLY DBD allows players to DC left and right as if there was no tomorow

I recommend doing the same as survivor btw, playing killer will teach you sth

As a main killer i dont have a problem with the surv perks. if i expect a Strike, i plan the usage of it already in my tactics. so i hunt obsession first, lift her/him up and hope he waste the strike at the early game. so its done for the rest of the match. most times that strike just gives the surv 10 more seconds to run until i catch him again, maybe 15 if Dead hard is also active. Also i dont have a problem with any other perk that survs use. I also have perks to find them. So they can use perks to hide better or whatever. no problem.

My main problems as killer are good jukers (dont missunderstand, i pay respect for everyone who is able to juke a killer for a long time) - but i dont like jukers that teabag, and run around the same obstacle over and over again. i like a great and long hunt if its diversified.

And a main problem are the hex perks. that totem spawns are obvious almost every time and the hex totems dont live long. so i also got taken one perk away for the rest of the match. thats more bad then every perk a surv have.

This tactic can backfire. If the obsession with DS knows how to loop, then you´ll have to ignore that survivor for the rest of the game. Or face the consequence that you´ll lose 3-5 gens only to get him.

Exactly its best to ignore the obsession and if you down him, either slugg or juggle

I would give killers the possibility to mori survivors once they have been downed 3 or 4 times without getting hooked. Counter would reset on hook.

That's a lotta' damage. It'd be impressive if someone manages to down someone four times but can't get them to a hook once. It's not that hard to get rid of blockers.

I've always liked the idea of a perk that gives you instant downs while carrying a survivor when 3/2/1 survivor(s) are within 16m. Adds some risk to it. You could save a teammate, but it might backfire.

We are talking about a anti bully mechanic here. We could add additional prequesites. But every killer has experienced this situation, where you can down a survivor, but you can´t reach the hook because of DS, flashlights, pallets, body blocks and/or sabotage.

Flashlights are a non issue these days. You can face a wall to hard counter a flashlight save, and with how tight the angles are and how fast the pickup animation is now, the only way someone could reasonably make a save is if you're in the open and they're already right there.

But if there's multiple people there, I'll just drop them and start swinging.

a week ago a survivor managed to blind me from outside my FOV while I was looking at the wall. It is still possible. And of course the pallet stun is still guranateed

You're the injured one, the others aren't, why would he go after them? You're closer to death on the hook! So why, WHY would he go after anyone else? Also, I nicked this example from someone a while back, it's a pretty neat example;

If you said the 50% generator, congratulations, you "tunneled."

IKR thats the comparison I always bring when survivors complain about tunneling.

DBD became balanced and looping and camping were not allowed/viable anymore?

What if you all started playing the game the way it was meant to be played, and called out the devs then?

My thought is Dev's are allowing camping because they are allowing Looping.

So why give the DEVs a good reason to stop looping.

We’d do just fine. You see, the game didn’t have Looping at the start when it launched. It was introduced in Patch 1.4.0 when the developers re-sized the Survivors hit boxes to be smaller, in order to make Survivors harder to hit out in the open due to P2P latency and at windows and vaults. As an UNINTENTIONAL side effect of this change, Survivors found out they could run tighter, therefore faster, circles around objects via abusing the smaller collision they have. The game was never balanced with Looping in mind, that’s why it’s an overpowered mechanic and the developers are constantly fighting to rebalance the whole game with it included.

This is because they have to find a way to incorporate it because of all the cry baby Survivors who suck at hiding and LoS jukes. They have no skill and need a way to win by abusing game mechanics and letting the mechanics of the game carry them. instead of playing smart and not getting found and caught.

So is it the same thing for killers on camping? Did the Devs allow camping because some killers have no skill either? Survivors are op, but I'm not like them, I do just fine without DS and I'm great at sneaking around with O.o.O.

So but explain this to the other killers then, other wise they will just keep whinning,

Killers camp because in the third Dev Diary the game director mentioned it. (3:05)

Another motive might also be that it is a relatively simple strategy that's completely acceptable.

Is camping a good strategy? Unless the survivors are overly altruistic, no. Is it an honorable strategy? To most people it's not.

Here's the difference between camping and looping though.

Camping is a bad strategy that only one player per match can use that can be countered without perks (gen rush) or it can be crushed with your allies' perks (Borrowed Time).

Looping is a powerful exploit that 4 players can use in a match that can devastate the other team by wasting their time. Not to mention it can consume all 4 perk slots for those who don't want to blinded and run in circles around the map all game.

    Sums it up pretty well

Thats when I either go afk or walk to the killer and let them kill me.

DCing needs to be punished btw

Before anyone storms at me like a madman i know that face camping is not deserving of a ban but it is an a*hole thing to do so i came up with a solution. (keep in mind that this is ONLY a suggestion)

If the killer is standing ?m near the hook, the hooked survivor will be teleported to another hook in 30 seconds. (if the killer hasn't moved out of the area) Both the killer and the survivor will get a notification that the survivor has been moved onto another hook.

Doesnt matter whether facecamping deserves a bann or not.
Facecamping is impossible nowadays because devs fixed it, so that question doesnt need to be answered

This maybe works on idiots, but most killers dodge 4 swf or 4x flashlights.

This might work for massive idiots, but most killers know how to play around 4 swf or 4x flashlights.

I play around by avoiding them? That counts.

    LOL

No, you do things that don't allow them to use the flashlights. You pick up facing away from them or face a wall. You bait pick ups. You slug, et al.

well yeah with the new update since all the killers whined about flashlight saves being op they made it to where you have to start blinding at 1 sec instead of 2 so you have to be right next to the killer when he pick up to flashlight save

It was easy to counter flashlights before the updated pick up animation. People just thought it was easier to moan instead of getting better and doing something different.

Thats the survivors way of life. Why git gud when you can instead complain, project power, review bomb and get what you want anyway without any practising

its also the killers. why do you think they changed it in the first place?

    What are you talking about?
You think the killer problems are a git gud issue? Take a look at the official tournament games where a non-nurse killer has been played

  • @Peasant said:
The game clearly needs to buff killers or nerf survivors, this much is certain. The only question is how.

Seems like devs dont agree with that, look at the latest Q&A. Survivors will receive insane buffs and killers will be nerfed at the same time

  • That doesnt fix the problem that they always spawn on my totem

We’ve all heard of toxic survivors, but what about killers? I understand that they do things that can piss off survivors, but can they do it in a Toxic way? And How often do you see these examples?

Of course, you can hit someone on a hook or you can even tbagg with pig e.g.

Hit for hit is were a killer gets stunned as he lunges through a pallet and gets a hit on the survivor pulling it down. This is the last resort a killer has to get a hit during the current loop if the survivor has done this loop right. Even then, it's super risky and it's not hard for the survivor to slam before the killer gets close enough to hit. In order for this to be possible, the pallet stun is delayed. This delay is also why sometimes killers get hit after a pallet is thrown down. BHVR plans to remove this delay and make it stun the killer the very millisecond the survivor presses the pull down button. If you want to see a better explanation, check out Tyde tymes recent video on it. Your thoughts?

    My thoughts?

Monster hunter world just came out, I will be part of the strike that starts once the new DBD patch hits

I play as both killer and survivor but one character that is way too O.P. is The Hag. I played a match yesterday where she placed 6 hexs plus more across the map this makes it nearly impossible to win the game against her. I don't ever ######### about games but this is completely ridiculous she needs to be changed from having that power at least take it down to 3 hexs.

You can crouch over traps, just fyi

I humbly request that you all go try Death Garden for the next few days.

When I say all killers I genuinely want as many killers as possible to go play Hunter and leave Dead by Daylight for the next few days. It is important that as asymetrical horror consumers we support the continued expansion of the genre.

Additionally given how unbalanced and peculiar the most recent proposed patch is I think we should offer the developers a brief perspective on what a lack of killers looks like. After all I know that if I had to choose between being a Killer and a Hunter I would pick Hunter everysingle time. After all, Hunters don't have to deal with loops.

Deathgarden is not my type of game, but dont worry I will be part of the "strike" by playing monster hunter, just like the devs suggested when playing killer is too frustrating

I have been playing for a few months now and since the game has become a free download on playstation I have noticed a huge increase in both killers and survivors disconnecting when things aren't going their way. I would really like to see more severe punishments implemented to remedy this kind of behavior. Sorry if this has been discussed to death already but I'm curious if other are noticing this becoming a more frequent issue? If so what do you think the devs could implement to detour this behavior?

Its a joke that devs dare to claim DBD is a somehow competitive game, the whole ranked system is ######### up, rank 1s can face a rank 18 kilelr by playing SWF.
DCing is only punished if you DC in 80% of your games or sth like that.

I have no clue why we dont have a queue time punishment, 5 min for first DC, 10 sec, 30 3rd etc etc
ANY other competitive game has such a system, because ofc players would abuse DCing otherwise

Why should killer stop playing then? IF the game became balanced and looping and camping would be removed, every killer mains secret dream would be fulfilled.

I prefered the old days of DBD when looping wasnt a thing, you juked the killer by using LOS, not by abusing 360 hitbox stuff and camping was really rare, tabgging and clicking didnt even really exist.

Now I play a few games, get so annoyed after my first chase victim gets a free escape as a non-obession DS taht I simply Alt F4 and play another game, just as cote suggested

Why are killers whinning so hard because "We survivors" only have pallets as protection and they want to take that from us. They've already took our perks
Every killers I've faced lately complains about urban Evasion, Desesive strike and borrowed time....

Honestly if killers want a free hand out like always.. They should spawn 1 survivor dead, 1 survivor on a hook another one down and the last one injured....

If killers get their way this game will be one sided.. I get that some killers at smart enough to deal with looping or to lwave that one survivor alone.

I understand that looping can be difficult to counter..

Why want killers just admit to being out played?

I recommend watching the official DBD tournament where competent SWF completely destroyed non-nurse killers.

    OK, firstly.

I play as survivor and killer and have level 50s in both. And your logic so doesn't stand. What you don't see is the fact that yes unhooking and healing have X amount of time, but you haven't factored in the fact that they will most likely run to somewhere safe to heal costing them more time.

It's OK, just admit your a bad killer and we can all move on.

u say that play both sides but ur replies it show that u are a main survivor, and maybe you're level 50 in some characters but I don't care because I'm sure u have 0 skill.

In this game the rank 1 or level 50 does not mean anything.

The fact that the guy thinks that leveling up a killer to lvl 50 makes him somehow experienced should tell you already enough  In fact you dont even need to play killer to lvl a killer to lvl 50 LMAO

    Thank you for your comment.

But on the other hand any other competitive game has punishment for DCs and you can hardly call DBD a competitive game.

I am sorry that I can not understand "DCs" means.
Yes you are right. Dbd is hardly called compatitive game.
I would like more people to think that it is fun to play the killer.

    DCs = disconnects.
In DBD you can pull out the ethernet cable or simply leave the game via the esc menu and you wont be punished.
