  • There is not going to be a patch today!

  • I think it's wiser not to judge someone on past mistakes - especially if it's a single ban many years ago, people grow and DO change.

Also, I'm surprised so many people check other people's profiles, I don't think I've ever looked at someones profile in a lobby whether I'm playing survivor or killer. I'm normally tabbed out on another screen until we load into a match.

Edited to add - please also keep comments on this thread relevant to the thread. Bringing in real life situations and scenarios is not relevant and has absolutely no connection to a video game.

  • When we run cosmetic competitions they have to fit in with the schedule etc, so the last one the cosmetics have to go to the team to get implemented then put into the game...so realistically once a year is the most we can do those.

  • Art work that you wish to show to the community on this forum does not have to be digital...it can be any format.

There is a disclaimer on the Creations section of the forum that gives us permission to use your art on our streams etc - if you notice that we showcase many artists in the early part of streams, the artist always gets a credit. We do not use art for any other purposes and none of the art is used for anything in-game, unless it's a specific competition for this....and there will not be another one of those for quite some time.

  • If I'm understanding this correctly, you're saying that sometimes you go for a flashlight blind on a killer when they're picking up a survivor and you do not get the save on the survivor?

If this is what you mean, then I would remind you that flashlights saves made during the actual animation require precise timing so that the blind on the killer goes through when the killer is able to move again. If it's too early and the killer is locked in animation you get a scoring event for killer blind, but you do not get the save.

  • Why is it the same arguments ensue every single time, same people as well?

Please, the discussion wasn't about the definition of the words - have some respect for the OP and their question about what they want represented in the game. If you wish to argue definitions I suggest taking that somewhere else entirely.

    i give survivor numbers

    from top to bottom

    1

    2

    3

    4

So if someone i hooked has reached second stage i just rememer the number so i dont need to remember names and cosmetics makes it easyer for me atleast. Otherwise if you have 2 megs in the game and you remember meg its confusing. Numbers do the trick for me.

Interesting! I find numbers much harder to remember (yes I am that person who can't remember her own mobile/cell phone number)...I'd be thinking so 1 is on 2, 2 is on 1, 3 is on 1, 4 is on 2 and just get it all confused.

It's interesting what people find easier to remember tbh. I'm very visual hence using cosmetics and things to help me to remember things.

  • Console players cannot use endgame chat. However all that "globe" shows you is that the player is on another platform other than your own - so could be Epic Games, Xbox, Playstation, Stadia, Windows Store etc. Due to the fact that they can chat it would mean they are likely playing from either Steam, Stadia, Epic or Windows Store, as they cannot be playing from console.

  • I don't use the mori's because I only ever take BP offerings into the game. I normally try to remember by cosmetics who I've hooked, it gets confusing when it's two people with the same cosmetic and I try to remember names in that case but my memory for stuff like that is super bad and often I forget.

I do try to make sure I'm not hooking the same person in succession - but sometimes it happens. I don't return to the hook and am off hunting for someone else, but then randomly run into the person I'd just hooked, at that point I have no other real option but to go for them.

I hope they fine tune the new mechanic before release. I still find it very intrusive.

what do you find intrusive about it? I must admit it's only really the audio I notice.

Oh my bad, it's been in the beta tab for so long it thought it was official already lmao

must admit, I forget it's beta as well. I switched it on and just never switched it off!

The sheer number of cosmetics that would be involved in giving out legacy cosmetics again makes that a non-starter, barring something lazy like the anniversary crowns. Not to mention we have way more licensed characters now; leaving out only Michael/Laurie wasn't that big a deal in 2016, but denying players who have devoted time into the large number of different licensed characters of the same rewards would be much more unfair. Legacy cosmetics will and should stay a one-time thing.

Licenced characters is a good point there. Imagine that you're only P3 character is a Stranger Thing character or any one of our other licenced characters - you would get no reward.

Making the P3 prior to the update a portrait reward for all characters is much fairer imo.

Why then can you not switch killers in a lobby? That change was sold as good because MMR would be separate for each killer. You have just confirmed that there is only slight variation, making the locked killer thing pointless. We should be allowed to switch.

Even if the variation is slight that might cross over two brackets.

It also might be the case of someone having a particularly high MMR on one character and lower on the other - there are players like this. Whilst the majority of the playerbase is in the medium range, there are a small percentage of players at higher MMR.

  • Legacy cosmetics were given out at a time where the bloodwebs were massive, where you didn't make so many points per match, where there were no 100% BP offerings or Events etc. So it was a lot harder to reach Prestige during that time, especially as the game had only been out a few months.

Legacy cosmetics will not be returning.

  • With any company there is always an official flow of communication. Nobody should be contacting the developers outside of official platforms as no news should be shared in private that cannot be said on our official forums.

Yes Peanits and myself are the main CM's who are on this forum, there are a bunch of other CM's who are here from time to time also, so we are the main people who answer questions, take feedback etc.

There is definitely no loss of confidence in the game and we're not ending support for it...we're in the process of preparing a very large mid chapter patch after all.

  • hahahaha you gave me a fright cos I lose track of time and months easily at the moment.

As to the topic answer, I do not have a release date that I can share yet, as soon as I do...I will share it.

I'm guessing they're going to be doing more changes than usual from this ptb, so I would expect it either the last week of July or first week of June

So the blocked option to switch killer doesn't make much sense anymore, does it?

Promised or rather hoped for was a system that would make a noticable difference between a freshly bought killer and ones main.

But that's not the case thanks to MMR catch-up mechanics between ones killer characters and the softened matchmaking parameters.

It does make sense. As you have some players who are fantastic with a particular killer and will have higher MMR with them, MMR that's in the next bracket. On their weaker killers they do not get matched with the players that their main killer then gets matched with.

  • @KajdanKi said:

Well what I mean is that if you pick a killer that you have never ever played before you will be matches with baby survs.

Now - lets say you have 3k hours in total. It will be completely no challenge at all as you will outplay them with experience in the game.

No it doesn't work that way

If you've got any experience of playing killer, your MMR on other killers would never be in the super low range - as whilst you might be new to a specific killers power, you still have game and map knowledge. Hence you do have different MMR scores for various killers that you use - however, it might not be much difference.

If you look at the graphs we've shown previously the majority of the player base is in the mid MMR ranges, so it stands to reason that their different killers are also within that range, maybe some slight differences overall.

Poor advertising. Didn't see it mentioned anywhere on your twitter. I'm angy >:(

It mentioned it on the Quiz itself and the Tweet said "a chance to win"

That was on the quiz itself.

So can we ever expect some improvements on the "new" animations? Shortly after their release, it was stated that they were still being adjusted based on feedback, particularly ones like the standing idle and injured run animations that still look very stiff.

As far as i can tell, no adjustments were ever made since the patch that removed the direction change transition animations. Those were actually my favorite part about the new animations, as they looked far more natural and took away some of the cheesy aim dressing jukes that frustrate killers.

Also, are we forever stuck with the "back rub without touching each other" healing animation?

improvements and updates sure. I specifically answered to the old animations returning.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Does anyone even remember the old animations? I forgot about them as soon as the "new" ones were released

I'm kind of the same there. Once I got used to the new animations I was fine...took a couple of days though I must admit.

I find the new ones are a lot smoother, the older ones seemed to have a lot jerkier movements and not so fluid.

  • The old animations are not returning, the new ones are here to stay.

  • The Quiz rewards were sent to the winners a short time ago (around 15 minutes or so).

  • Whilst we'd love to do more contests and have more contest winners, we have to consider the practicalities of implementing outfits into the game. Adding two full cosmetics within our timeframe is highly unlikely to be able to be achieved.

Its weird that devs doesnt say anything related with this PTB disaster.

We're currently at the stage of going through all the feedback with regards to the PTB and are in discussions with Designers on if there will be any changes.

  • I do not think there is an issue with a particular survivor - seeing as survivors are effectively all the same.

Also, Mat Cote does not have anything to do with game balance, he is not a designer.

Word to the wise: Give more consideration to how the game feels.

whilst I appreciate the feedback, that's not what the killswitch is used for. Removing something from the game even temporarily is a big thing, losing content for any reason is not something that's taken lightly. Hence the killswitch is used (and will continue to be used) only for major issues that are considered game breaking. A perk working as intended is not the same thing.

  • Please avoid spoilers, not everyone might have seen the end of Season 4 yet.

  • @gelukrait said:

I want to see all submission. Could someone pass the link of this contest?

The submissions were made privately, some people did Tweet them out on their own Twitter however, I would suggest having a look through if you want to see peoples entries.

  • The killswitch is there for things that are bugged - not for things that are not liked in game. As you've seen on the recent PTB Dead Hard (along with a lot of other perks) is getting a change, this does not mean the current version isn't working as intended, therefore not bugged and not in need of a killswitch.

thing is, ive had BHVR staff comment on my posts before (hi Mandy) and yet it wasn't increased, so it has to be something they manually check. and i think Mandy confirmed this above but i could also be reading it wrong

Has the Forum Team considered remove the feature, seeing that its not used often and sorta implies BHVR never reads anything which is false.

also please Read this comment. it will shoot dopamine through my brain, I could use that today.

I've not considered switching it off no, as it's something that's useful for me in tracking feedback that I need to refer back to.

I think most forum users are aware that I read everything that's put on this forum at this point.

  • You can report exactly the same way as with any other platform. As other platforms do not allow change of names as easily as Steam does, you can use the in-game name when reporting players from console or Epic/Stadia etc.

  • It's something I use when I read a post and do not have time to fully reply to it. It's often used in feedback when I see something that's particularly useful, it helps me to keep track of things as well.

(at least when I remember to use it, I make a lot of notes so don't often use it)

  • I initially started playing only survivor then I branched out into killer, my hours are probably 60-40 now as a result.

I think everyone should play both sides personally, it gives you a better concept of the game as well as making players realise the issues that both sides face.

  • We haven't stated the date of the release yet.

  • There is no way you can block other players from matching with you...even using the Steam block feature.

  • @toxik_survivor said:

I know it's not on the agenda, but it would take away the need to buff solo q with in game info tags and stuff. Like just make it where of you are within 8 meters of someone they hear you talk. And then killers wouls hear you if you are within 10 meters of them. Like Friday 13th basically.

Obviously it's more than that, adding an in game party system is probably to time consuming for bhvrs agenda, bit it would be super sick. Obviously private parties would counter this, but it's still a cool option.

Balancing solo survivor with voice chat to make them equal to SWF is not possible - you have to take into consideration that not everyone speaks English as a first language, or wants to communicate. European servers covers a lot of different languages as do servers in other regions of the world...so immediately you're putting players at a disadvantage.

  • That's some great artwork! I love your style a lot.

  • I don't think there's any plans on other platforms right now.

  • Thanks for bringing this to our attention...we will rectify this situation as quickly as possible.

I play on console, if I get the game on steam on my pc, will there be a code to get the supposed cosmetics on my console, I don’t like play on pc because I have all my progress on console, and I like collecting stuff so I hope is console players don’t miss out.

We're looking at ways that players can buy the game on Steam and still get access to the cosmetic on their other platform where they play DbD, I don't have the full information on how that will work yet though.

Can you give me an example of something that would be abuse?

Seems to me that a blanket statement of "nothing is ever abuse if it involves any perks whatsoever" is fairly disingenuous.

Abuse is something that is unintended in the design of the game, usually an exploit.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3041224#Comment_3041224

Nobody is abusing a perk just by virtue of using it, no.

But that does not mean perks cannot be abused.

Sticking CoH at a distant safe loop, and then running to that safe space after every hit while another team mate takes aggro and repeats that process, puts the game in a stalemate that the killer cannot resolve. Only by committing to an unwinnable chase, in order to snuff out that totem, and thereby guarantee they lose the final gen. After which the illusive booner can just rebless and repeat.

With sufficiently coordinated survivors, this is as unplayable for the killer as a Boil Over in the corner with no hooks within 50m, and is tantamount to taking the game hostage.

Is that 'abuse'? I suppose it depends on the intentions of the survivors, which isn't possible to confirm, but fairly easy to infer.

No that's definitely not abuse, that's co-ordinated gameplay. Killer can commit to the chase, snuff out the totem, use a perk to remove the totem from the game.

  • Nobody running a perk (on either side) is abusing a perk. Lets stop that rhetoric right now - it doesn't help with discussion and is completely inaccurate.

  • Dissolution works on Terror Radius, you were undetectable (it was during Nightfall), hence you had no Terror Radius. This is not a bug.
