@fcc2014 my first dc was because a Myers asked us to farm and I wasn’t happy when he started killing people. He then messaged me “mad cause you got outplayed?” It was no reason to dc but back then I thought it was just.

@TreemanXD This is literally why I never trust farmers or achievement hunters, a killer is a killer. I do my job and get out, on both sides. Farming is only okay if all are in on it respectfully and this rarely happens anymore.

Killers also seem to like to pretend to farm or AFK and NOED lately too. I am literally addicted to breaking totems on AFK killers.

  • @Arroz I was like it was only a few months ago then I looked at 2.5.0 release date you mentioned. I took my dbd break soon after, glad they fixed it though bc trapper on lery's with invisible traps in narrow paths is not good for anyone. Yeah, I get what you mean now, a lot of trappers try for that sneaky one on the stairs.

  • @ShrekIsHot You see plague on ps4? I haven't seen her in a long time. She's about as rare as a random freddy, clown, nurse or huntress for me. I almost wish I saw all of these a little more, not just billy and the occasional LF

No, it's my fav map. Really fun with trapper, you can glitch traps in the stairs (they get invisible)

@Arroz I had this happen on Lery's stairs in the treatment theatre (didn't know it could happen on haddonfield too)... but it was the whole match my traps were invisible. I kept stepping in my traps by accident in some areas and a King literally got stuck facedown in the stairs bc he was trapped and every time I tried to pick him up the trap would snap and he'd get buried in the floor again. I had to try 5x to pull him out...

  • Bookmarked too, going to play both over the event though and post results. I literally have 5 BPS, 10 puddings, 15 shells on mikey alone. I have been waiting for this. Time to level up some final characters to get all newer teachables and actually run BBQ for once maybe ... Now you've made me almost expect moris as survivor though. I feel like it actually is common for killers to bring a mori during events thinking back on it. First thought I had on encountering this ages ago was "Who brings a mori to a bloody party streamer party???"

One of the first times I ran OoO was against the shape. It was...not fun

Inverse of that, first time I played against OoO was as a shape against a Laurie and I was pretty convinced she was a witch (as I was super fresh and probably horrible at tracking) but she would legitimately disappear every time I went over to her aura and searched the area, probably had UE and was losing it in laughter at me but I was just laughing about it too. Great to look back on games when super fresh in either role and laugh.

  • I really want this thread to live too, posting some new ones, recommended to me by spotify (I AM SO SORRY THE SECOND VIDEO IS CREEPY but the other videos are all bad lyric videos...)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk-U8ruIQyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaEyLZWWUUA

  • Honestly huntresses and nurses, not many around lately on ps4 as above.

  • Alert is actually really good for keeping tabs on a killer through the match and can inform your decisions a lot, you basically see the killer every 2 seconds at a break action such as gens or pallets. Very useful I love it personally for deciding if a gen is safe, if killer is in a chase, if they're potentially camping etc. Also lets you know who the killer is early match, no reaction = freddy (non dream world) or tier 1 myers, everyone else = aura shape lets you know.

  • @Saint_Ukraine But a brown med kit is enough for at least one heal though (sometimes)? Better than no med kits like me, or only getting them when I don't need them 😂

  • I love these all, especially the blue hairstyle (Kate definitely needs some cool hairstyles and clothes, she's one of my only survivors I don't feel I have a lot of great options for, there's no colour or style, even jane has some more creative options in the store and she's new), you are amazing at making these, great work! 💖

its another one of those "entity interchanges", you will have immense power and/or a favor from the entity at the cost of immense pain

    • trapper has those hooks hooked on his back
    • doctor has those eyelid speculums and can never close his mouth which must be hella painful
    • nurse has a pillow case constantly asfixiating her and makes horrendous cries of pain each time she blinks
    • hag was forced into becoming a cannibal to get revenge despite getting eaten by cannibals
    • spirit is unable to get revenge herself against her father and most roam the entitys realm as an Onryō
    • finally, Frank, Julie, Susie and Joe, seeking escape from the authorities, went to the entity realm, just to be made into brutal killers and have their youth slowly consumed and used for other purposes

Probably this lore wise, but then getting an initial successful hit in FF grants more bonuses (killer instinct) like increased duration/stamina and "aura" (more general location) reading accompanied with the pain on exiting this "adrenaline" state, similar to nurses stun I guess in that way. Overexertion is an interesting take though, it really does look similar to a blackout but then it gets slightly blurred/worse in killer instinct maybe due to increased power/exertion?

  • @Captain_Spaulding Nah, I've near memorised the newer totem spawns now, small game is good for trappers/totems too. Feels more like map is a delayed deja vu, don't you only see the hatch with the string offering after you've walked past it or is rainbow map different, I haven't used it much as you can tell, I just like them for map scout points when I loot them 😅

Edit: I looked it up so ignore the above, didn't realise how different the rainbow map is I haven't used one on purpose in a long time, sounds cool but I'd still rather have a med kit or toolbox, maybe I should take your lead and run around with a map in my matches, those scout points bonuses are pretty good...

  • @Captain_Spaulding You just made me realise I forgot maps 😂 They're so unnoticed/not used for me that I forgot they existed wow. They're probably right up there in terms of how many I loot now that I've removed my map hating bias blindfold. But I can 100% see that happening, the loot rate on keys is crazy

  • @Hexyl Definitely but we need all of those things together, longer seasons, incentives and feeling like pipping is earned/justified not luck/farmed etc.

  • Nice summary, I don't mind that the ranking up is harder if like you said the monthly resets disappear, but the expectation you need to do 150% in every match needs to go, especially as a survivor, killers needing to protect all gens for a certain period of time at match start is also questionable given some killers need match start to set up e.g. trapper setting an area, hag traps, mikey stalking etc. I'd keep red with purple and up to rank 9 to increase the player pool (staggered respectively e.g. a rank 1 gets a higher tier 1-5 survivor, a rank 2 killer gets 2-6 etc), rank 9-12 feels like a bracket of it's own and 14-20 should be lowest.

I used to think I hated ranking up so fast to rank 1 as a survivor but now I actually miss those intense games that made me better as a survivor by going against some mixed bag rank 1 killers, rank reset + harder ranking means I hover around rank 8 as I don't play that often and have to slog through ranks 14 back to purple each time now which is littered with survivors who don't know what they're doing half the time or DC/suicide on hooks (let's not get started on that one again). Get rid of the reset monthly and make it 2 months and that might solve some things...doesn't solve entirely for people who take breaks though, a derank via time rank 20 killer who is returning after a break may be rusty but not fresh rank 20 survivor rusty and vice versa.

  • @Saint_Ukraine We should trade luck, every time I want a med kit I get a purple flashlight 😂 Literally every time, I can almost guarantee I get a green or purple flashlight, it's like key/flashlight, toolbox, med kit in order of looting for me at tier 3 plunderers.

  • @Captain_Spaulding Yes, definitely not cool when they run around the hook you're on and you can see others waiting for the save like GET OUT OF THE WAY 😂

  • @FSB75 I think their twitter usually posts when the event is live, what's the point before the event, maybe 1 day before but 1 week is just hype

    1. Getting stuck in loading screens multiple times in a row where I don't even feel like playing anymore.
    2. Getting hit even though it should clearly not have hit.
    3. When a teammate refuses to leave a pallet because they are healing and so I can't use it while getting chased.
    4. People disconnecting in a match when they get downed for the first time even though there is no ruin and 2 generators have been repaired already.
    5. Playing as killer and survivors are hiding at spots where you can clearly see them, but they think they are actually hidden.

Basically a mix of these plus having plunderers and going to get a chest at the start of match and someone opens it infront of you and then tbags you after. Same thing when you carefully wait out a hooking bc you're close and someone just rips them off as you're going for the safe unhook after they ran there...A fellow survivor playing the yamaoka estate offering and the killer is a trapper. Sneaking up for a final survivor hatch grab perfectly with mirror myers and it turns into a hit. Wow these could go on for a while...

  • @Saint_Ukraine I feel the same, most times if I don't have pharmacy on a character and I run plunderers tier 3 it's like I want a good med kit not a key. It's okay in niche situations but getting them constantly with only tier 3 plunderers and no luck addons is a little extreme.

  • Tapp and Laurie. Adam with his blending black coat is close though. I'm seeing a pattern in this post...

When killer gets outplayed and dc and then you wait another hundred years for a lobby dodge.

@Judith I see this a lot recently, had a match where a killer was chasing one survivor, didn't change targets or anything, one gen went off and they were gone. One gen.

  • I've had someone DC as I pulled them out of a closet covered in crows... they hadn't been hooked, the 2 other teammates were alive... I feel the plan was do nothing and then escape? I do love those DC before they hit the ground though they make me laugh, especially if they haven't been hooked. I also don't get if it's last hook (3rd) towards the end of a game?

I dont think rank should serve as a matchmaking tool because let's be honest, it doesnt matter how much the devs tweak rank system, It will always suck in this game because sometimes the requirements to rank up will be imposible to achive even if you are the greatest player in this game, like when you are getting camped or when the killer doesnt hook anyone or when you hook 3 survivors but you miss the last one, etc. There are so many factors that dont really depend on the player's skill... Imo rank should give us things like more BP or something like that.

If matchmaking worked on hours played It would be much better imo. People wouldnt be able to "de-rank" on purpose and we would always find matches; 2 options to accomplish this:

    Option 1:

Let's say we have 3 zones:

    Zone 1: 0-100h played

    Zone 2: 100-300h played

    Zone 3: 300+ h played

That way newbies would play with newbies, experienced would play with experienced and veterans would play with veterans.

    Option 2:

Use Devotion as a matchmaking tool. Right now Devotion doesnt serve any purpose so why not use It as different zones to find people playing? The only problem with this one is that once someone gets to high Devotion there might be less players there.

    @tt_ivi_99

I've always considered the devotion one as well and that may be a better than time played. But you could have people who play a lot having high devotion (but not necessarily skill) and vice versa and a similar problem with time (although for your suggested times above I would add a 1k+ h threshold) We kind of need something that covers both the current ranking system which is mildly skill based/mildly time based due to season resets still being 1 month despite harder ranking and something that covers experience over play time to combat deranking. However it couldn't be set in stone as some people take breaks for a few months and their skills are not as sharp as someone who plays daily for years etc. Devotion is definitely the better solution of the two but doesn't cover skill (and is relatively new). I don't blame the devs for struggling with this, I've not yet seen a solution suggested that addresses all of the issues involved.

  • A practice stage is well needed to be honest, I usually get a friend and go KYF to practice with a killer I'm particularly rusty or new with to get a basic grasp of the mechanics/powers rather than potentially being destroyed in a live game. I loved there was a practice mode in F13 even if I dropped that game fast, shame there's no equivalent in this ever growing roster of killers/powers/perks kind of game. It would be nice to test new builds given the legion changes coming up on console as we have no PTB so I could check how the addons feel without having to re-enter a match every time too.

The other 3 Perks i prefer to run alongside it are ones that work well with Devour Hope, but are also great Perks without it.

Needless to say, Barbecue & Chili is one of them.

Killing with it is awesome of course, and puts extreme pressure on the rest, but i'm still of the opinion that being able to 1-hit all the time is way stronger, especially on surprise Killers like Wraith & Shape.

@Boss I did get full stacks on it for last 3rd of the match but couldn't bring myself to mori them and just kept hooking them until final hook (more points anyway), felt a little bad for them especially how fast the game fell out from under them given a Myers with dead rabbit on Lery's and not needing exposed with a great totem spawn.

What are the other 2, if BBQ is one?

  • Honestly I love the idea of literally giving the killer a lighter and they have an animation and everything (I know you're probably meaning 2 second entity magic but I pictured this), but in all seriousness imagining this wouldn't they just keep breaking it because they know it's in play? so basically RIP Noed? It would be as repetitive as resetting traps and perks like haunted ground wouldn't work more than once anyway (hopefully).

  • I don't even know how to react to this, wow what even is that???😂 I had no idea it was that bad. My ears were not ready. I play as Laurie quite often and now I feel blessed compared to this.

  • Currently...but probably changing to have more spirit and billy soon as I'm finally learning them

    1. Myers
    2. Legion
    3. Wraith
    4. Hag
    5. Freddy
    6. Trapper
    7. Pig
    8. Doctor
    9. LF
    10. Clown
    11. Huntress
    12. Billy
    13. Spirit
    14. Nurse
    15. Plague

Nurse and Plague are almost never, probably once each the whole time I've played this game, nurse bc ps4 so saving her learning for last, plague bc not a fan in general.

  • @George_Soros I played clown for a long while when he first released and used the "full lob distance to a gen" style to help with patrol but sometimes while trying a high lob without hitting anything the bottles would break (some not thrown more than 1m or so above me or just being "near" an object such as a tree etc but not actually hitting it. Have you experienced this and/or is this different now? I was considering returning to clown to level him up for the perks finally.

  • I think this was initially to make the TR larger so those in your TR are shown by killer instinct and allow you to spread deep wounds and give legion a better chance of finding others and not going after 1 person... in theory (not considering speed changes etc). I'm not too thrilled about it given I ran M&A prior and it worked amazingly as survivors would run at you for a heal etc only to realise you are the killer. Interested to see how M&A goes when it finally gets to console though.

  • @Boss To be fair, during the 1st round of updated match making (plague chapter start) I had every match against red ping players (killer and survivor)(Japan for me) and the matches actually played really smooth so I didn't bother dodging for a long time, I think red ping is back to being horrible for me now. I faced a 1000 ping LF to see what would happen, that was an experience and someone actually escaped.

I'll be honest I saw rob zombie halloween in this post and cried a little, just a little...

  • I know the opera and visiting art museums etc threw me a little, it's like oh no I'm culturally inept *lifts pinky as I drink tea and pretend to be cultured*😂

  • I don't use either a majority of the time, ruin may still be on my hag bc I'm too lazy to change up her build. I like not using them because if I win a tight match I know the survivors have nothing to blame at that point and it shows me my own skill/shortcomings and I can learn or use other perks (as above PGTW). I can see why people feel it's necessary to use ruin at higher ranks but it gets broken so fast it's basically like wasting a perk anyway and I prefer other hex perks that survivors don't instantly know are in play (like DH)

  • @Tensor Thanks for the info, and that's even worse... the last page really...

  • I really have to wonder how all these necro posts are exactly may 2018. It's like they just hit a page went yep and commented on every post...

  • Says the person who literally just said what they consider to be toxic, which are intended and could be considered the toxic person "doing their objective" in all of those cases. Seriously, it's like talking to a wall. Basically "this is my point and deal with it because I can't accept that some people disagree and that toxicity itself is subjective and will reply with a condescending tone" I have been playing this game just fine for 2 years and never once got angry at a teammate for "hurting me objectively". I just wanted to make a point and you had to take it to "If it affects you emotionally and you had a bad day, playing a multiplayer game is maybe a bad idea? You know what are you getting yourself into when you start this game unless you never played online" How is that not condescending and slightly hostile for an otherwise normal comment on your post even if you said it was in general. "You are too sensitive to play these kind of games" not hostile at all...

  • I never said you were a survivor main, I'm just sick of this thread getting so hostile. I however AM a survivor main (play 70/30) and I don't notice toxic survivors bc they are winning the killers attention and means everyone else can compensate with gens or totems etc. How do you know they are blowing up gens on purpose? Sandbagging and by extension working with the killer is the only way to be toxic really. Hook "farming" is sometimes accidental because not everyone in this game is a god and when it's on purpose again the killer usually facilitates it. Playing survivor isn't hold hands and play nice it's work together...or don't and is an "intended" thing. Every match is literally like this, as survivors we adapt to our "team" and yet you're telling killers to get over it when you can't get over toxicity yourself.

  • @Judith said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/450296#Comment_450296

You don't have to imagine it since being toxic is popular. You are living it already. The only thing you can change is how it affects you.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/450303#Comment_450303

Stuns and flashlight saves are game mechanic, how is that toxic? Because it hurts your delicate soul?

Seriously now you're using "intended mechanic" as a defence. Basement blocking survivors with RBT or blocking the stairs is an "intended mechanic" but is still decidedly toxic. Do something enough times and add a thousand teabags onto it and yes it is annoying and therefore toxic to me. Sorry I didn't know an "intended mechanic" decided if something was toxic or not, despite toxic having a different definition for everyone. If you're going out of your way to annoy the killer that's generally how I consider it. You didn't comment on how I question how exactly a toxic teammate hurts your fragile survivor soul though. Ripping you off the hook in killer's radius to farm you? Intended mechanic I suppose. Sandbagging is literally the only thing they could do to hurt you directly. If you can't make up for a toxic (not doing gens) survivor on your team how have you been playing this long.

  • @Judith said:

You clearly missed the whole point. Point is it can't hurt your game if you don't let it since you don't play in a team.

It can hurt survivors more because they are playing in a team. I really can't be anymore clear since I said this countless times already.

This is not killersvssurvivors thread. It is common sense if you think about it.

Not really "common sense". Toxic survivors can stop the killer completing objectives if they are skilled. Such as wasting their time, flashlight stuns/saves etc. They aren't enjoyable for either side. Playing in a team with one toxic idiot is literally 90% of survivor matches and you can still manage an escape bc they aren't stopping you from doing gens/objectives (unless working with the killer/sandbagging) even if they aren't doing them and they are potentially drawing the killers attention which is sadly intended. I just don't get how it "doesn't hurt killers bc they aren't on their team"??? Unless you mean via bp/pipping in which case again it hurts both sides...?

  • @Judith said:

    I didn't meant "you", I meant everyone.

And I already responded why it affects only survivor. If it affects you emotionally that is not objective at all, it is subjective and it is in your power. People should be respectful yes but they won't just because you wish for it. The sooner you accept it the better.

@Judith Sorry, you replied under me and it was along the lines of what I said, honestly no one really uses the "@" properly to address the people they're speaking to...I think this thread is a mess... we both don't like toxic survivors (but they annoy both sides), I however also do not like toxic killers, everyone in this game has the capacity to be toxic or decent, full erasing of toxicity will not happen though because some people like to watch the world burn and only care about their enjoyment. does that about summarize this? Plus if you say it won't happen just because we wish for it but then state you want a view changed what was the point of this thread again? A glorified "get over it killers we suffer from them more"?

  • @Judith said:

I am saying it can't affect you like when you are playing a team game with toxic people. If it affects you emotionally and you had a bad day, playing a multiplayer game is maybe a bad idea? I mean multiplayer games are full of toxic people you know what are you getting yourself into when you start this game unless you never played online.

You see I meant as in a day to day scenario... one of those things called an "example". Being talked down to like I've never played a multiplayer game though, nice touch. Just lost all interest in any point this thread was trying to make. Doesn't justify that it's not fun to get toxic people in back to back matches or just in general on either side, some people play the game to be decent people and have fun. As above stated too why directed only at killers. Both sides are capable of it.

  • @Mr_Myers Honestly true, this is getting to be every 2nd thread now, I'm actively checking the post date at the top on every thread now...

  • Like any match in this game your response to an insult is likely to be determined by your mood before you booted up the game. If a killer is having a terrible day in general of course they're likely to get tilted by toxicity. And if I understand the topic of this thread right...don't most killers either A) Ignore the toxic butt bc they're not doing gens and that's fine by most killers or B) destroy them and move on? Honestly all toxic people are doing is hurting their own team when they're trying to get the killers attention instead of doing objectives as you said. Doesn't help if the full team is "toxic" either, how do you "stop paying attention" to that?
