  • Survivor main here!

Rather than agree or disagree I'd like to point out that a lot of the time people are better at one side of the game. When someone decides that they are a Survivor main or a Killer main, rank up and see progress, it's disheartening to lose a match or to be outplayed. It's easy then to want to blame the game balance, especially if you're on a hot winning streak.

Are there balancing issues that need addressed? Certainly! And there always will be. That is the nature of these kinds of games. And as someone who plays Survivor 95%+ of the time it's easy for me to see things that I think feel unbalanced and would like to see changed. But there are people on both sides. I know you said you play both sides equally, but I'm just pointing out why this community is so passionate in the endless argument of Killer sided vs Survivor sided. It's not something that people will ever agree on.

Personally, I could have every Killer meta perk and I'd still lose most of my matches. I'm just not good at Killer at all. We should all remember and appreciate that both teams take skill to play and applaud each other where it's deserved.

Almost all will get an update. The devs even confirmed it for licensed characters.

but we do not know which chars were already done with the new kind of models, but Felix, Elodie and Yun-Jin definitely don’t seem like they will get a graphical update. I read somewhere that the Oni/Yui chapter was the first that used the new character models. But as I said, nothing confirmed as far as I know.

That makes sense! They are new enough that they look really well designed and are implementing the newer graphic techniques and such! You can definitely see a notable difference if you look at Elodie vs Nea for example. Well that makes me happy to know that they are going to do all of their past characters!

    Thanks for answering!

The mind will always remember the bad things more then good. But basically any match I'm in. IF it ever gets to end game. It's all the same.

T bagging at the exits. GG EZ in end game chat. Waiting until the last second to leave. Even if everyone is at the gate and wasting 2 minutes of my time. Tbagging the hatch for 5 minutes as I look around the map for it. Because they just CANT leave without me seeing

And I won't even get in to the things that are said to me. Just because I main freddy.

It is definitely very strange how certain Killers/Survivors have a bad reputation.

Killers - Freddy, Doctor, and Ghostface players seem to be bad mannered.

Survivors - Claudette, Nea, David players seem to be bad mannered.

It's not the majority of the case by any means but it's easy to forget that and assume negative things about players based on those characters. Like you said it is easier to recall the bad more than the good.

Getting off topic here, but I just wanted to respond and wish you good luck and some fun games in the future. Hang in there! 😊

I think I've had so many toxic experiences that it's VERY rare for me to give last survivor hatch, no matter the circumstances.

I'm sorry to hear that. I understand, as a Survivor main who never tea bags, will never bring a key, and who only flashlights for Rift challenges and isn't spammy or obnoxious with it, it is really disheartening when people still choose to be rude or malicious. It's easier said than done to let it go and not take it to heart.

I hope you have some fun matches and nice experiences soon. Happy gaming! <3

Why should you give killer the kill if all your team DC he receives kill points for that and you're left on your own if 3 people DC I will give hatch too the survivor because I know how annoying it is to be left on your own with a killer that wants a 4k instead of thinking about my pips or fun.

Have they increased the points Killers and Survivors get for Abandoned? I've been inactive and just came back yesterday and so I've definitely got a lot to catch up. But I'm pretty sure I still only got 500 for a DC when my teammates leave.

For me, personally, I feel bad for Killers (as long as they are playing a good game) when people rage quit. If an entire team abandons because the Killer is doing well I will gladly be the sacrificial lamb and throw myself on to the hook for him. I'll even try to take him to basement for it. Get your kill, Killer, you earned it.

Now if they decide to be generous and take me to the hatch then I am appreciative but that rarely happens. Most of the time the Killer seems rightfully frustrated and I watch poor Kate get chopped on hook.

The way I see it I wasn't going to escape and I didn't have a fun match. The Killer probably didn't have a fun match either. So why not try to do something considerate? It's just a game and I think too often Killers and Survivors forget about each other's fun.

who doesn't ship blight x demo

That mental image is cursed. Cursed! 🤣

    @ShamelessPigMain said:

    God where do we begin...

First off, David isn't with Dwight and that's a fact. David is either with Felix, Steve, or Feng.

Deathslinger is with Bill and anybody who says otherwise belongs in the mental asylum. The only acceptable alternative is Bill with Oni, or Bill with Steve.

Yui and Zarina are already planning their wedding. If you have objections you can forever hold your peace to the grave.

Adam and Jeff are eloping to Italy. They'll probably follow Jane and Elodie or Kate. Nea and Felix are already in Paris.

Feng is literally a gamer girl so she's gonna have a lot of guys to pick from, but Dwight looks like the kind of guy who watches Belle Delphine's streams regularly so he's a candidate for that.

Demo is too hot to date any of these filthy casuals. He's saving himself for when he meets the perfect man. He tried a blind date with Pyramid Head, set up by their mutual friend Hag, but unfortunately sword-in-the-abdomen is not one of Demo's kinks.

Ghostface could get it on with anybody, cocky little teabagger is a pretty diverse match.

Plague devoted her life to Christ and is probably celibate, but once she hits middle age she's gonna rethink all of her life choices and try to look like Kate.

Rin has some very serious daddy issues and so might make a good fit with Slinger, although I'm not sure if she's a fan of harpoon-in-your-chest play.

Nurse is obviously into choking, and Dwight always looks like he's being choked. Match made in heaven.

Deathslinger x Bill ... LOL I can't with that grandpa pair. I don't know which is worse, Blight x Demo or Cowboy Grandpa x Army grandpa.

Dwight x Kate is my ultimate Survivor ship. But I kind of love Dwight x Nurse for Survivor/Killer. He's just endlessly scared and chewing his nails in the corner as she fade blinks around the Coldwind Farmhouse tidying up and shrieking at him for having forgotten to grab something from another map during his last trial. LOL

I don't really ship anyone, It's lowkey dumb

Survivors hardly know each other. Not to mention, they trying to survive, not to ######### each other, unlike horror movie teens from 90s.

Like, seriously. Imagine you barely escaped psycho with chainsaw and arrived to campfire. Your hands are shaking, blood pulses inside your head, but you still alive. The only thing you want - or, better say, capable of - just sit and watch campfire. The same campfire, which you hate the most, as it's a symbolic reminder that you can't escape for real. You know exactly, that this campfire is fake, just like all your hopes, since you tried to burn your hand with it.

But, still, you can't stop watching it. You aren't bold enough to look away. If you look away, you might catch eye-contact with someone, who wasn't as lucky as you and couldn't escape chainsaw psycho. You can't help but wonder, is it your fault. Maybe you were able to save them?

You trying your best to help others. Not because you like them, or they like you. Simply because you want to remember that there is something human left in you. Because it's right thing to do, even if you never see them in the fog again. Like it usually happens.

But last time... You couldn't help. And this thought haunts you. that partially because of you someone was chainsawed in half.

It's a silly thread meant to be amusing!

But actually there is a reason why sex is so prominent in the horror genre. When human beings go through difficult, traumatic, and terrifying experiences their bodies release a lot of the same chemicals that are released during sex. Horror movies have always been good date movies for a reason!

Another more serious example is soldiers during times of war. Romance and/or sex is a pleasurable distraction. Prostitution and wartime/soldiers have always gone hand-in-hand for that very reason. Some military bases have historically had brothels on their grounds while other times (like WW2 especially) sex workers would rush to cities where soldiers would be stationed because they knew they'd make money easily there.

So actually if history and biology have taught us anything it's that these Survivors would absolutely be involved in trysts with one another. Also, keep in mind that a lot of these Survivors have been doing this for quite awhile. Feng, for example, is from the 90's. She's been at this for over thirty years. Getting chainsawed isn't a big deal anymore. That's just Tuesday.

That's Entity-sama to you, mere mortal.

<3 🤣Great post though. That's so strange that Clown is his favorite.

  • @QwQw said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249697/killer-campfire

I'm pretty sure the devs confirmed that killers stay in their own realm when outside of a trial. Either that or they get tortured by The Entity if they failed to kill the survivors from the previous trial.

As far as I know, the only killers that are allowed to interact with each other outside of a trial are the four members of The Legion, and Victor and Charlotte.

Their own realm being their own map? Or is it something else? If it's their own map then what about those who don't have their own map, like Trickster and (to my knowledge) the Twins?

  • @CluelessWanderer said:

I've had one too many experiences of a Killer pretending to carry me to the hatch, only to drop me and slam it in my face. It happens all the time. Maybe the survivor didn't want to take a chance.

I've been out of the game for awhile but I used to constantly see this too, sadly.

  • I found him but didn't escape the match so it didn't count. Maybe next time!

  • I think that Kate would be someone I would genuinely be friends with. Her backstory and added lore about her depression and her issues as an artist are something that most creative types can relate to. But she's also a celebrity so who knows how easy it would be to actually befriend her.

Feng's backstory of gamer and party girl is interesting and is similar enough to my own that we'd probably have enough in common that we could become friends around the campfire.

Wraith is kind of the only killer who wasn't evil. If his mind is intact (I know the Entity can twist the minds of the Killers quite a bit once they are in his realm) then he's just a normal guy in a very sad situation. I feel like he's a sympathetic character.

Now if I was a Killer and I was crossing paths with another Killer then Trickster would be an... Interesting friend to have.

Isn't freddy a pedo? Why would you be friends with a pedo lmao

Actually in the original Nightmare on Elm Street movies he is not a pedophile. That was added only in the 2010 remake to make it edgier and him more villainous.

  • I can't tell you how many times I've tried to gesture for a Killer to follow me to help me complete a challenge or I've stood by something I needed and waited for them to help me trigger it only for their greed at getting a hook to ruin it. The thing about it is that they have no idea of knowing what I am trying to do or what I need, and vice versa.

It's very frustrating especially for some of those really difficult/obscure challenges, but most of the time Survivor mains aren't going to know Killer challenges and Killers won't know what Survivors need.

Try to not get too frustrated. Hang in there and happy gaming! <3

The last time I gave a survivor hatch was a week ago, another survivor called me out saying I gave hatch to the useless teammate, so now I am too paranoid of giving survivors hatch. Anxiety issues :P

I suppose if I play against a good survivor that does well in chases, I'll probably let them go if I like the way they played.

I too have anxiety so I know that it is easier said than done but... Try to not let those kinds of things get to you! Whomever you choose to spare (even if it's no one) is your choice! Be as liberal or sparing with it as you'd like to be and don't let anyone guilt you into doing it/not doing it. Happy gaming! <3

Definitely try item drops! Snoot booping is a little less likely to work because it won't be clear if you're being friendly or BMing (which some survivors, when cornered as the last man, resort to.) Non-Pigs aren't... trained, for lack of a better word, to assume pointing is a friendly gesture. Item dropping is pretty widely recognized as a sign of respect or a plea. Some killers still won't care, of course, but I've been saved by giving up my lunchbox several times. You can also drop your item at the exit gates as a sign of thanks for a good match, if the killer's there, and that's an even nicer gesture because you're not asking for anything in return.

BMing? Bad mouthing? Forgive my ignorance, I don't know what BMing means. I hope people don't think I'm rude when I'm trying to boop the snoot!

I love that about dropping the item at the gate! Aww! I didn't know that that was a thing! I hardly ever take items into matches so if I have an item it's for an achievement or something I picked up from a chest so I'm not attached to them. I'll definitely start dropping them at exits if that's known to be a sign of thanks! I love doing little things like that! (especially in a game known for toxicity) Thanks for the tip! 😊

  • @VioletCrimes said:

I’ve never been snoot booped. I usually spare survivors if they’re the last survivor in the match, I have them downed, and I catch them inches away from either the gate or the hatch. At that point it becomes “ah, you got close enough. Go ahead”.

Oh really? I snoot boop any Killer if I'm the last person on the map! Because why not?

I've never had a Killer down me by the hatch and let me have it. 😭 In fact, it seems like if I get downed at hatch (especially if I was waiting for it to open) I always get taken to a hook. But c'est la vie!

  • @Lx_malice said:

    Drop me your item=automatic escape

2 or more people messing around=automatic farm match/escape

I'll drop you on hatch or let you get the door as the last person if:

    You're a cute baby Dweet

    You played really well

    I just feel like it

That's good to know about the item drops! Perhaps I'll start dropping items to appease the Killers if I feel hopeless about escape! 😄

I'm glad you spare the baby Dwights. I'm a Kate main but I love Dwight (he's my Kate ship haha) so that just makes me happy to hear. lol

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249688/killers-sparing-survivors

I don't usually. A large majority of people are toxic asf on DBD and don't appreciate it anyways. But the last person I actually let out .They seen me coming to the gate. Bowed down and dropped their item away from the gate. So I let them go. And they thanked me because it got them some sort of challenge completed. Maybe adept ? Not a clue. But as long as it made them happy.

Escapes / Mercy / Hatch Drops are totally up to the Killer's discretion and are not owed! So that is fine!

That being said, I personally like to think that the majority of people who play DbD aren't toxic and that it is just the bad eggs that stick out to us. I hope you get some kind players in the future. Happy gaming to you! <3 😊

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I kill all survivors who boop Ghostfaces snoot.

I often spare the fourth survivor if I max deviousness. How important would it be to you to escape if you had max survival points?

Haha! 😂I knew this would be a really varied question. That is funny that booping the snoot is a sure death against you.

  • @Heartbound said:

I have never once in my 4 (has it really been that long?) years have spared a survivor for pointing at me. I do however tend to be more sympathetic to survivors who crouch and look up at me, especially when we're down to 2 survivors or one left. I'll also have a moderately/considerably better chance of giving a survivor the hatch if they don't wiggle.

If I'm not doing an adept and you're the last survivor and you run out and kneel (crouch) before me, you get the hatch. You will also face thousands of other killers and get no results doing that, but for me that's my mercy.

As far as plays go, I tend to chase the stronger players on purpose and let the weak links get away just because it spices my game up and keeps me on my toes. The strong must die so the weak can crawl out of the exit gate to tell the tale.

I did have a Feng in that situation though on Deathslinger's map when I was playing my trickster. I got decisive striked at the end and I was alright with it.

That's fun! I've never thought to kneel before a Killer.

Perhaps next time I'm on a map and am the last survivor with little hope for survival I'll give the kneeling thing a try. If it doesn't get me saved hopefully it at least amuses whomever I play against. Thanks for the answer! 😊

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

it depends on the survivors behaviour beforehand. toxic brats get no mercy, but when I see someone trying, giving up etc, i usually spare them.

Oh definitely! By gestures I didn't mean tea bagging or 'rude' behavior. I meant if the Survivor gestures 'come here' and seems to want to lead you somewhere, tries to use the point gesture to touch your character, or other things that seem silly or unusual (but not disrespectful).

  • Today was my first time playing in about 7 months after a hiatus. I had two moments that came to mind when I saw this thread.

    1. I played a round where all three of my fellow Survivors disconnected on first hook. The first person did it pretty much right away. The other two were far later when we only had two gens left. I didn't look for the hatch but instead stopped and gestured at the Killer and let them hit me and hook me for a kill. They didn't really seem to get what I was doing and were just super quick/pressed to get me on hook but iirc Killers get less BP for DCs than true hooks so I at least wanted them to get one. 😂
    2. I played against a very new Killer. They missed most of their attacks, didn't understand Billy's charge, but they did some other things really well (like gen pressure). I sent them a message telling them that they did a good job and that it was difficult to get gens done because of it and they seemed really pleased by the message and said some kind things back - including that my compliment lifted their spirits and made them want to keep learning how to play the game.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Against Blight you use short loops against him, such as filler pallets, path pallets and junk tiles.

Trickter has no tricks. He just walks at you without any mindgames and you go down rather quickly no matter what you do. Fortunately, most people don't know this and so most Tricksters try to go for fancy nonsense and waste their own time.

Do you think Trickster is good then? The general consensus I'm seeing is that he's one of the bottom tier killers, down with Legion and Clown. (I always liked Legion, but I also am a Survivor main and barely ever played Killer)

  • @FrostySeal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2186042#Comment_2186042

Trickster is difficult to play because his power can easily be countered by good survivors and because of that you'll need to play damn near perfectly otherwise you'll lose gens real fast. His main event can be gimped by running around a little rock. When he holds his knives and throws them he moves slower than the survivors and once he starts throwing a bunch of knives he slows down a bit more. And the reason why he feels like legion is because he has all the same design flaws as legion, really underpowered power that downs you no matter how skillful you are and more.

If you want to play him, be warned, he is arguably the second weakest Killer in the game. If you care about winning, then avoid him at all costs but if you just wanna have some fun then he's pretty good at that.

That's a real shame that he doesn't play with the speed of Legion but the threat of Huntress. When I saw him that is honestly what I was expecting - a faster and more agile (better?) Huntress.

I'm a Survivor main and have never been good at Killer. Legion is who I used to play when I did feel like trying Killer and that was purely for fun so maybe Trickster will at least be entertaining. Thank you for taking the time to explain his weaknesses - hopefully the devs improve him and make him a viable Killer!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2186134#Comment_2186134

Blight's charges automatically recharge over time after his Rush ends. He can't use his power again until he regenerates all of his charges, hence why his recharge is longer when he uses more of them in one go. He can regain all of his charges instantly following a successful Rush Attack when using his purple Alchemist Ring add-on.

And yeah, Blight must Slam off of at least one object before he can use an attack during a following Rush. Attacking (whether it hits or a misses) ends the Rush.

And because I'm realizing it might be helpful to add context for those two Blight terms I was using:

-Rush = The quick sprint forward that Blight does after pressing the power button. Each use of Rush consumes a charge.

-Slam = When Blight crashes into an object and bounces backwards slightly. He can then press the power button again to do another Rush (unless he's run out of charges). This is part that makes him seem like a big angry pinball.

Thank you so much! I feel like I actually understand the Blight quite a bit now. It seems like cluttered maps and wide open ones will put him at a disadvantage while indoor maps and small maps play to his strength.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    1. Blight plays a lot like a pinball machine. he runs from one obstacke to the next in a pretty straight line (there is turning, but only very slight (excluding exploits) like billy) and has 5 charges to do so (a charge is consumed every time he slams into something and starts a new rush - the more charges were used, the longer his recharge time). Basically, try to make sharp turns and dont run out in the open (unless its like Rotten Fields open and there is nothing for him to bounce on). also, since you asked: the difference between him and billy is, that Bligh does not oneshot survivors and that he can not attack without having slammed into an object at least once with his power.
    2. in short, you dont. Trickster is just Deathslinger done wrong, there is absolutely no reason to play him unless you wanna do some aim practise and dont care about losing (which really sucks, as he is such a cool killer visually).
    3. there is nothing known about the frequency of playmodel visual updates. We've got Nurse and Clown when Clown received some changes, Doctor just received one with the Coldwind Farm graphical rework, Dwight, Meg, Claudette and Jake are confirmed to be a work in progress and we've seen a picture of Trapper with new graphics aswell (but no news on that so far). The maps however receive a rework every midchapter - so 1.5 months after the latest Chapter released (which is pretty exactly 3 months from now). it has been confirmed that we wont be getting any more DbD original maps until all the graphical reworks are done and they usually do two each update (only one this time, which leads to rumors about an upcomming Resident Evil map). All maps up to i believe Grave of Glenvale will receive this treatment (we are done with MacMillan Estate, Autohaven Wreckers, Coldwind Farm, Crotus Prenn Asylum, Lerys Memorial Institute, Springwood, Gideon Meat Plant, Yamaoka Estate and Ormond).
    4. yes.

I really appreciate your thorough answer, this helped quite a lot!

    1. Does Blight regain his charges somehow after the 5? So he has to hit something once and then after that he's able to attack while charging? I don't have Blight so I can't play a few rounds of him to learn how he works.
    2. Aww, that's so unfortunate. I love the Trickster's design and lore.
    3. Oh so Dwight, Meg, Claudette, and Jake's upgrades aren't live yet? That makes sense. I was staring so hard at the character models when I played and I wasn't sure I saw any difference. 🤣 That's great to know about the maps, thank you!
  • @glitchboi said:

    1. Blight can be countered by hiding behind rocks or walls so he can't reach you.
    2. His power is based around spamming blades. You can actually use them to hit survivors in short-wall loops.
    3. The main 4 survivors are getting visual updates!
    4. Yep!

Good luck in the fog my friend :D

    Thanks for your post!

So only the main 4 survivors are getting visual updates, not the entire cast? That's so disappointing if true! I was hoping it would be all maps and all Survivors/Killers. And selfishly I was hoping that Kate would be soon. Haha

The cross-platform bit makes sense as to why Huntress was suddenly so prominent and also so deadly. Not that I'm complaining! I just wondered why there was a sudden surge of pro-ranged players. I'm also (obviously) very rusty so I was just eating axes left and right. 😂

1 Blight is countered by gen rushing and being unpredictable... usually you have to hug the wall / flare out just to avoid his power.

    2 Nobody plays Depipster..

    3 It's every 3 months i do believe,

4 every console goes against pc =D

Thank you for your response! That's a shame about Trickster!

    1. So his power is mostly charging then, yes? Are you hugging the wall to stay out of the open space of the center? How comparable are his charges to Billy's?

When i face blight i loop him like any other killer the strengh of this killer is when you transition to another loop what i do is jump most of tge window i see and hope for the best until i reach a new loop.

I mostly played trikster on the ptb my experience with him was horrible he was really weak cause of that i did not buy him now i heard he is better but he is still in the top 5 worst killer if i follow the post i saw imagine having to hit 8 shot with deathslinger but you lose progress if you did not hit the guy with your blade in the last 10 or 12 sec cant remember the exact number.

The wait time depend on the time you play and if you are in a swf or not but yes cross play is up now this help a lot during the night. Dont mistake the crossplay feature with the cross progression let say you played on ps4 and want to swich on pc you will need to restart and buy everything from the scratch my friend did this mistake that why i tell you this.

Overall the game is better but just like the last time you played the meta did not change much its practically the same at least in my opinion exept now killer use ruin more and survivor use DS less.

I appreciate you responding! That's good to know that playing against him is about the same as every other Killer. Loop your loops, try to outlast.

What made Survivors stop using Decisive Strike? Is there a Killer counter now or is there just a new meta Survivor perk to counter camping/tunneling?

  • I've always been of the belief that keys are the Survivor's mori. They are awful.

Anything that ends the game prematurely or greatly caps the gameplay seems like a sure way to hinder the fun of everyone else playing.

As a Survivor main I say target those keys. 🤣 ... The only time I've brought a key is to complete a Rift challenge and I'm always stressed knowing that I'm inviting abuse upon myself doing it.

  • Survivor main here who has been gone from the game for 8 months!

What makes the Trickster difficult to play? I've not gone against him more than twice so far since my return (a shame!) so I've not gotten to interact with anyone playing him very much. Is he really Michael slow? He felt more Legion in a chase but that could be because of how rusty I am.

He's the one Killer I've been tempted to try and learn to play as just because of his backstory and how unique his appearance is. It's a matter of preference, definitely, but I actually kind of love the neon flamboyance of his design. It is a visually interesting contrast between the rest of the Killers for sure! 😊

  • I agree with everyone who has already commented that the idea behind the grind is to keep the game active and people on the hook. The counterpoint of course is that it gets discouraging.

I've personally never had too much of an issue with it solely because of my personal playstyle. I've nearly every survivor at level 40 (with the exception of 3-5) to get their unlockables and then I've got my Kate at prestige 3 and most perks at T3. That took a good several months to do playing almost exclusively on Survivor.

The thought of trying to prestige all Survivors and have great builds on all of them is exhausting. For semi-completionists or newbies I'd totally recommend to just pick one or two Survivors and focus all of your attention on them! It might feel more rewarding and less daunting/punishing.

We don't know the exact reason why, but it is intentional. It was likely because the license holder didn't want their characters altered. Although I don't think we'll find out the sole reason why unfortunately.

That's pretty unfortunate, though I suppose makes some sense. Since she has a top variant with different recolors I thought perhaps we'd be able to customize her like other characters.

Both sides. People think the combo of DS+Unbreakable is "uncounterable" and is boring to go up against. People think Deathslinger is boring to go up against. Deathslinger. Like come on, he is really weak and only as good as the player playing him. Same with Freddy, but admittedly Freddy is far stronger than Deathslinger. But in terms of chase he is still really only as good as the player playing him.

Just because you find some killers or perks boring doesn't justify them to be nerfed or deleted from the game (which I have seen pop up more and more often lately). There are literally 19 killers in the game right now with a 20th one coming right now. Not all of them will be fun according to your playstyle. Not all of them will be countered the exact same way. There are also literally hundreds of perks with different combos that can seem uncounterable to you, but also perks that are really powerful that you would always take it over anything else, making it appear over and over again. (Which is a problem)

My point is, the community will never be satisfied. Killers will never be satisfied. Survivors will never be satisfied.

Both sides, the vocal players just want easy games. And we know what they say about the loudest voice in a crowd. They tend to not be the brightest.

I want to say... Thank you.

Thank you for a thoughtful and respectful post. While the message of no one ever being satisfied is incredibly depressing to think about or admit to, I really respect and appreciate the way you delivered your point. I always try so hard to encourage respect and kindness in topics I start and I worry about my wording a lot (English is not my first language) and often am responded to with the typical forum hostility.

This was just so pleasant to read that I needed to say all of this.

You made an excellent point about play styles being a large part of this too and people simply complaining if things don't suit their way of playing. I guess I was just being overly hopeful in thinking that people could be satisfied.

I have some problems with that idea.

    1. I hook survivor A in the basement shack. I spot Survivor B and instead of luring me away, he decides to play the shack loop. I shouldn't get punished for commiting to that chase. Stuff like that was already tested with a paused hook timer.. survivors abused the hell out of it.
    2. Once all gens are done, you can't expect the killer to leave the hook, especially if it's near an exit gate.
    3. As long as you can pip while dying as survivor or depip as killer even with a 3k, killrates aren't a good indicator for balance.

Hm... I had not thought about the problems with multiple levels. This could also be an issue with a map like Hawkins.

My only answer would be that in order for something like my idea to work there would need to be some specific tweaks and such to it to counter situational things. The radius only counting horizontally (no idea if that's possible, I'm not a game dev) for example. And the solution to 2. would just be that it didn't trigger if the 5 gens were completed.

  • @DelsKibara said:

You won't really hear logic or reason to people who complain unless they get easy games. That goes for both sides.

But, right now though, I am hearing more complaints of perks and certain Killers being "Boring" rather than Overpowered.

It's like as if they cannot justify that what they are facing is OP anymore so they instead started calling them Boring to go up against.

Personally I've been having fun at Rank 1 as Killer. Even though I am handicapping myself by only playing Low Tier Killers like Plague, Clown and Pig. A lot of my games ended before all generators are done, of course, but a lot of those games also had a ton of Potato survivors in it. Not necessarily the kind of people you expect to see in Rank 1.

"It's like as if they cannot justify that what they are facing is OP anymore so they instead started calling them Boring to go up against." - what do you mean? Who is the 'they'? Survivors or Killers?

That's true about seeing complaints about perks being on the rise as of late, but that is kind of my point. It seems the community cannot be satisfied and so I was asking what it would take to please those red ranking Killers who are still feeling unhappy. I am curious to hear the suggestions and more importantly the why behind them try and get a more clear understanding.

    @EntityDrudge said:

Well complaints overall haven't slowed because of posts like this. You're literally complaining that survivor isn't a cakewalk anymore (it still is)

On the contrary the only complaint I made was that I'm bored as Killer. It seems you either misread, misunderstood, or just immediately posted a response as if I was talking about this from a Survivor perspective. Killer is what is boring to me.

Do you play Survivor? Because the game data (you know, factual evidence) has showed that Survivors have been losing more than half of their games for awhile now. Probably a lot more now with recent changes.

  • Rank 3 Survivor. Rank 5 Killer. I've been playing off-and-on for two years, several times a week for the last eight months.

My suggested mechanism: Hook timers do not deplete if the Killer is within a limited proximity to the hook. If it is second hook then the struggle animation does not activate until the Killer leaves the radius. If the Killer returns then the need to mash/mouse scroll/etc vanishes and the Survivor is suspended until the Killer leaves again.

I agree with most of what the previous comment said. Punishing the Killers would only lead to problems as already the Killer community feels victimized regardless of what changes are made in their favor (or how the statistics show that Survivors escape less than half of every game played). The solution would have to be nuanced and even then it would be reacted to in a total outrage... Which is why it will never, ever happen.

That said, I think that some sort of change to the hook that forced Killers to back up just a little bit in order to have the timer end would be fair method. I am not talking out of eye distance or like 20 yards away or anything. More just a little bit of a buffer.

  • This is such a fun/adorable topic! <3

I am unable to go into the game right now and look at the cosmetic names, but...

Head - either 3 or 8! (pink ribbon in short hair or the light brown hair).

Top - 5! The blue top for the new bunny hoodie.

Legs - 7! The dark denim shorts and the leggings.

If you're looking for something that is cute and also not exceptionally bright and easy to see those would be my suggestions! It would look more like a real, girl-next-door kind of Feng! ^_^ Hope this helps!

  • Survivors - I tend to dislike Megs and Neas if for no other reason than they seem to be extremely toxic.

Killers - Ghostface for toxicity reasons, Spirits for my utter lack of understanding on how to counter her, Freddy and Hag are just miserable to play solo against.

Ive seen keys be actually used to open the hatch maybe a dozen odd times in normal gameplay and have killed so many people so easily with moris I don't know why people always compare the two.

The comparison is made because it ends the game prematurely. At least that's how I've always understood it. Killers do not like losing to keys because it is outside of the realm of normal gameplay. Survivors do not like being permanently killed before they have even gotten onto their second hook. And neither side likes waiting 15 minutes in a lobby for 3 minutes of gameplay cut short by an item.

At least that is why I dislike both of those items! ^_^

  • @bjorksnas said:

If you want to open the hatch faster bring a key. You don't want to bring a key but open it fast bring plunders. You don't want to bring plunders to get a key get then get lucky without it. If you don't want to do any of these then don't complain about it.

I don't bring keys because they are the Survivor equivalent of moris. I also don't use keys for the same reason. Thank you for the suggestions though! They are genuinely good ideas with the current game mechanics but I personally don't like doing it. For as much as Killers complain about keys here I don't think it's a bad thing about Survivors not doing it. 🤣

  • @Meroko said:

So you're asking for killers to have an even harder time than they already do? You do realize there's a real person playing the killer right, and that if survivors constantly get buffs and killers get shat on, this game will die. No one will queue killer. So yeah, no to your stupid ass idea, if anything hatches need to be nerfed not buffed. Personally they should have a cast time just like opening a gate. Not as long as a gate, but still needs one.

Being petty and aggressive is super unnecessary. Typically I would not respond because of the strange anger you seem to feel towards a stranger on the internet, but I'd encourage you to go read the patch notes from the most recent patches so that you can possible be a little less angry about this game. Lately the changes have all been Killer sided. And I play Killer a lot, so don't bother with calling me a Survivor main who knows nothing.

Toolboxes. Gen times. Map size. Map layout. Loops. Investigate those topics. And happy gaming! <3

Oh and if you want to be really logical and work off of statistics you should check the killed to escaped ratio for Survivors. Even before the changes. Most red tier Survivors don't even escape half of their games while Killers win well over half of their games. This is why talking people can often not sympathize with messages about how Killers have it so hard. Killers have been winning more games and more consistently for a long time. :)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/149102/exit-hatches-need-to-open-quicker

Quick advice - it's off topic, but i feel it has to be said. I don't feel like in the scenario you described you deserved to get hatch, because you let your team die without even taking a single hook stage.

The fact that you hadn't been hooked and your teammates were dead or on death hook is not something to be proud of. As survivor you're supposed to share the pressure, e.g. if one of your teammates is on death hook and you haven't been hooked, it's your job to take a hook stage for them. Sometimes if the killer ignores you in order to get a teammate out of the match it's better for you to let them down you and give them an incentive to hook you. That gives your team a whole 2 extra minutes to finish the objective in a 4v1 instead of 2v1 or 3v1.

I think perhaps you missed some parts of my post. If I had not interacted with the other Survivors then I would totally agree with you but I stated that I'd unhooked Survivors and taken the Killer for runs. Multiple times the Killer chased me and we had some really challenging and fun runs. But ultimately he gave up after awhile because the run was going for too long and he knew gens were being completed during the time. Me talking about not having been hooked wasn't because I didn't do things for my teammates. I had a majority of the unhooks and distracted the Killer several times. Just to clarify since essentially your post sounded as if I was boasting about having left my teammates to die.

I shouldn't let myself be hooked, no. I should do rescues, I should body block and take protective hits, and I should run the Killer for as long as he'll follow me. But I shouldn't get hooked and take someone off of a gen in order to come save me because I laid down.

I'm just curious about that opinion. He made a very good factual point. Even the tutorial tells you " The survivors objective is to do 5 gens and open the exit gates" you did not complete this objective yet still have a chance to get free.

Again I wanna know. Why should it favor you?

That's like someone arguing the world is flat. And saying " well its all opinion here" even when the fact is it's not.

I'd encourage you to read my multiple posts about Killer speed, map size, exit gates, (all 'very good factual points') etc if you genuinely want to know my opinion and why I have that opinion. It more seemed that you wanted to throw a flat earther comment at me and be rude despite the positivity in my post and towards those that agree and disagree alike. Which was comical as this is an opinion post about a matter and not anything remotely grounded in science or fact - it's purely my opinion being discussed and agreed with/disagreed with by others. I'd encourage you to view it as that and not behave as if yours is superior or somehow right when others are wrong.

No one here is right or wrong. Thanks! <3

The hatch, even if it opened a few moments sooner, would still be Killer sided. It went from being evenly matched, to being very Killer sided. Swinging it slightly back toward the middle would still leave it in the Killer's favor while giving survivors a slightly better shot. There's nothing wrong with this. A 3k / 1 escape is still above balance. The idea that because the occasional SWF could bait the Killer is the Killer's issue. Don't get baited then. Or take the bait, enjoy your 3k and move on. You still freaking won. LOL

The 'ideal' game as stated by the game developers is 2 escape and 2K. This is apparently the result of an evenly matched and well played game. The scenario of a SWF using a quickly opened hatch is one that I personally do not think would even come up - if the third person has the time to go and find the hatch why wouldn't they just leave with their friends? That whole scenario sounds so strange. Also, it sounds like it would have been a 1k match anyways if Survivors are playing weird games of organized sacrifice and 2 out the door and 1 out the hatch...

Like you said if the hatch were to open at a more fair and balanced speed the Killer would still be able to kick it closed. In fact, it would happen more often than not that the Killer would kick the hatch! All that a quicker hatch opening would do for the Survivor is give them a chance, which is how it should be. You said it perfectly, 3K is still winning. <3

I don't want to come of as rude, but I think there are more important things they need to change prior to the hatch. But it's always nice to hear people's opinions

There is a very long list of things that need addressed in the game. This thread was just about one of them. I did not think you were rude, do not worry.😊

  • As someone who plays both Survivor and Killer I do not agree with this at all. Looking at a generator should not cause it to be debuffed further. That would be so incredibly unfair. There are already Killer perks that make passing skill checks more difficult and apply pressure with just your vicinity to the generator.

Tool boxes were nerfed to being nearly useless. Gen repair speed was slowed a noticeable amount. Maps were made smaller. Dead zones were added in abundance. Loops were edited. God loops were closed.

I am not a very good Killer and I am now my highest rank ever and get 4k almost every single game. Since the patch I have not gotten less than a 3k. I was formerly someone who was lucky to get a 2k. Applying pressure to the maps is actually very easy now. In my opinion any further tilt in the favor of the Killers and it would have some pretty negative impacts on the player base. Already Survivors (who were averaging an escape ration of low-mid 40% even at red tiers) are escaping even less... But that's just my two cents!

  • @OldHunterLight said:

Egc is the one that needs to finish faster if anything, it's really damn annoying having to wait until everyone decides to leave the map, you as the killer have to kick them out, that doesn't make sense to me

While that's off topic I do thank you for sharing your opinion. And I actually agree. I think that there should be a 'surrender/bleed out' button for both Killer and Survivor that can only be triggered during EGC. It ends the game but does not wipe BP like a DC would.

    • Killers could choose to just end the game during EGC as if all living Survivors had escaped. This could not be triggered while anyone was hooked, of course.
    • Survivors could choose to end the game during EGC if they were the last Survivor on the map and were downed. This would stop people from having to be tea bagged by Ghost face or just slugged by a rude Killer for 2 minutes.

In this new update the hatch opens in the same time that are only 1 remaining survivor. Before this it used to take a little bit more, I think it was a second more

Can you quote the change note, please? :) I'd like to know the specifics and I can't find it.
