  • Thank you Toxik_Survivor, this provides good perspective.

    ... For me anyway.

Going against Dredge on RPD with immediate nightfall. Couldn't find a Gen anywhere. Everyone was 2 hooked at 5 gens. 1 dead at 4.

Killer let 2 of us farm and leave since flans were involved and quote "I felt bad."

Not calling for nerfs or anything. Just ranting. That sucked lol

RPD was designed a specific way, to funnel players towards zombies through tight passages but provide a few open areas which reward passing through such risky areas. This being said, it doesnt fit into DbD. RE and DbD are two completely different styles of games, and if RPD is designed for only one certain type of gameplay, when it's moved over the other game (DbD) with little to no changes, it's going to cause issues.

Most people hate RPD. The map looks amazing, dont get me wrong, but it just doesnt fit into the game.

"It was at that moment she knew, she ######-up."

I must say I've never seen anyone do that though.

A typical exit down (usually followed by a DC) happens with survivor being pancake-flipped after a blink-hit mid tea-bag. Being impaled by a Gunslinger spear is another.

In all fairness, it is very situational and only works on certain players, so you might not see it often because of that.

I knew this strategy would work since the entire game they had been BMing despite them all having rather short chases (except for the Jill, they were pretty good and lasted the longest in chase, they also left as soon as possible to avoid being caught). It's very dependent on the players you go against as to rather you use the strategy or not.

Ehh I'm really not a fan of this. Billy doesn't really need anything that drastic, most of the changes he needs are either aesthetic, addon related or the adjustments to the overheat mechanic. What I'd personally like to see:

    • Heat no longer gained during the dash, only during the revving
    • Increased base heat cooling
    • Reduction in the post animation swing so it's not quite so jarring for new players
    • If the roar is to stay then shift it to when downing someone, not at the start
    • (maybe) only keep the charge time increase on doom engravings, remove them from death
    • Rework of the pig gloves addon, something purple tier should not require the killer to actively disarm their power to get value (I'm aware Hag has something similar)
    • Re-design of Black Grease, Big Buckle, Off Brand Motor Oil and Leafy Mash addons. Sorry, but the changes to these in the recent "rework" were awful.

I think Leafy Mash should remain untouched, it has it's utility, Leafy Mash + Apex Muffler is a pretty good combo for chaining downs. I also think Leafy Mash can be used to buffer the exposed effect from Star Struck to get free insta-downs, just overall you need to have a build based around Leafy Mash for it to work well enough, on it's own it is very mediocre.

    • For console if I see a Temp-364765 name I leave the lobby. The person was dumb enough to make an offensive name that got banned so I dont trust them. Also experience has shown when I don’t leave the lobby they play like jerks more often than not.
    • Names like - Iliketohide or toxicdude or runcakeorileave or potato - i advise you take them at their word. More often than not the name is accurate.
    • I’ve played with hacker survivors and they’re not usually the ones with ‘hax’ or some derivation in their name. But I’ll still leave a lobby with some form of ‘hacker’ in the name.

Half of the console Temp-364765 names arent even just name bans, most arent even offensive. I got my name banned since "Iron_Cutlass" was deemed too aggressive since a cutlass is a weapon. I ended up getting the name ban appealed after an entire month, but it just goes to show awful the moderation for PlayStation/Xbox names are.

  • Reasons why this would be an issue:

    • 20 meters is a large radius.
    • 5 seconds is a short amount of time.
    • If I go to kick a generator or snuff a boon, the survivors pretty much get free generator repair speed from something that isnt even my fault.
    • Some maps are designed poorly enough to where you will not have enough time to leave the hooked area without causing the increased generator repair speed (Lery's, RPD, etc), you are rewarding the survivors/punishing killers for poor map design (which to be fair, isnt really that uncommon anyways).
  • Demogorgon is one of the most balanced killers imo.

Decent chase potential, nothing insanely strong, but isnt weak either, it can be effective when used right.

Decent map pressure, while still an M1 killer, his portals allow them go and pressure generators across the map when needed, portals have counterplay as well, which I like a lot when playing both sides.

Their power is easy to understand for both sides, presenting clear counterplay or utility for either side. Anyone can pick up Demogorgon and understand their power within the first few matches, and while it does have areas where in-game knowledge is insanely useful, his low skill floor and moderate skill ceiling really make them a good killer.

Also overall, their perks are decent, Fearmonger is good at denying exhaustion perks (mainly Sprint Burst), Claustrophobia is a very situational but effective anti-loop perk, and Jolt is a really good slowdown perk now that it get buffed.

Their addons arent insanely strong but still provide a wide array of utility that can find use in a lot of varying builds, and Demo makes use of a lot of perks that other killers would otherwise not get as much value from because of this.

  • It was fun.

    Rubberbanding ruins the experience.

Nothing feels worse than having my curves ruined because the game rubberbands me backwards which makes it so I miss my chainsaw with Billy. It literally makes me get off the game from how frustrating it is to deal with. BHVR was suppose to fix it, but it's still a major issue.

  • @Marigoria said:

    You're making it worse.

As much as I hate to say it, I heavily agree with this.

If someone has an issue with the game, joining into that issue doesnt solve anything, it only amplifies the issues of the game for others. If you want to have an impact on the game, just leave. We got huge meta changes on both sides due to people leaving, who's to say that tunneling and camping wont be addressed if survivors start leaving in the masses, and Im not trying to add more fuel to the fire by saying such, the fuel was already added by BHVR, look at the queue times.

  • @NinthCrystal said:

In its current state, sole survivor is completely useless. TBF I feel like left behind and sole survivor could be combined into 1 perk. So get additional speed increase for doing gens for each player killed, and at the end see the hatch if you're the last one left.

It's not completely useless, there is an achievement which it can be used for.

    And that's it.

  • @Kasamsky said:

Dead Hard is not consistent enough for me. 50% of the time im getting hit validated by killers with McDonalds WiFi. A 500 milliseconds window in the current state of hit reg is a joke sorry.

The Dead Hard animation lasts slightly longer than the Endurance effect actually lasts since there are two different transition animations for starting and ending Dead Hard, so half the time it seems like you are getting hit through Dead Hard when you really arent, it's just the animation, then again, Ive never really had any issues related to laggy players (thankfully) so I cant really speak on that too much.

Right, though old DS, DH and CoH were so broken for low tier Killers. Not mention the possibility of 4 Ranger or BNP. On Killer, using Nurse Blight Spirit, with 4 slowdown and tunneling.

The game is try hard's sided.

I dont think one using try hard loadout winning a casual one, means casual one's skill is worse.

I cant tell if other survivors here are try hard, but I was always use meme build and get punished by try hard. Which isnt fun.

On killer side, if I lose, I drop MMR, my match are more casual. I never take 4K as a win. I never want to increase my MMR as killer anyway, I keep it low

I only use meme or gimmick builds in most of my matches, since I aim for fun over winning, but on either side, if you bring worse stuff than your opponent, you have a much more significant chance of losing in comparison to that of bringing the best stuff. The only time you get leverage over the opposing side is if they are way worse than you, or the opposing side makes huge mistakes.

Overall, I think people just need to get use to losing.

Sometimes you dont escape as survivor, sometimes you do. Sometimes you get a 0K, sometimes you get a 4K. Sometimes you throw the match by your own mistakes, sometimes you get absolute destroyed, but sometimes the other side makes enough mistakes to win, sometimes you destroy the other time. It happens. It's DbD and it happens. Im just tired of the community discourse over it, it's been this way for literal years and people still cant get over it.

But the most scary thing is when Killer (lets say skill of 5/10) reaches to their high possible MMR (match skill ranking of 6/10) and cant win any more after that. They still think the game is still survivor sided. Which alot of topic created recently after days they get constantly win.

I still stand by the idea that the game isnt sided at all to any specific, and that the side that wins will always be the side that brings the strongest stuff and plays the most efficiently. Survivors can win just as well as killers can, and survivors can lose just as much as killers can.

There are people who play a certain role exclusively and always complain that the other role is overpowered, both sides do it, people on both sides lack accountability, but dont pin it exclusively to one single side.

  • To be fair, they did "address" it by definition ("speak to, in a formal way", or "formally talk about a given subject"), they just never actually did anything about. And while I was hoping camping and tunneling to be more discourged, I dont think it made this patch horrible, this patch is just very mediocre, just a lot of good changes followed by a lot of bad changes that equal things out.

  • @dugman said:

The format looks ok but it doesn't include anything about the loadouts.

Loadouts of both sides is just information overload, I was planning on writing it down on a separate Google Doc but I ended spending more time writing down information that I did actually playing matches.

  • They probably saved a LOT of bloodpoints from rank resets to do so (since BP from codes and rank reset go beyond the BP cap). You can also save a lot of archive BP as well.

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090901#Comment_3090901

Wrong. If you go into games with such a bad attitude, you might as well play something else

Most of my matches have been lost because of people giving up. DbD is a team-based game, but when people dont want to play for the team and leave for themselves... everything kind of just falls apart. I get that things can be frustrating, but leavings your teammates in an awful position all because of yourself only leads the frustration for everyone. I just ask people to try, to put some effort, to not instant give up on everything.

Overall my mood to play survivor has been very inconsistent, just crushing defeats from my own team not wanting to play, or wins that just dont feel deserved because my MMR is tanked from my awful teammates throwing matches over and over, it just kind of drains me a bit.

OK then it works, I guess. You should probably use the same stuff too while collecting your data. Best would be no items, because they have huge impact

I havent been using items, I also havent been using strong perks either. My loadout has been Lucky Break, Small Game, Inner Healing, and Dead Hard so far, and I dont really plan on changing it for a long while (since Ive been having lots of fun with it).

Frenzy Hits take away Dead Hard/Off the Record. Also, the Killer instinct tracking is great for finding the Survivors that you really want to chase. No reason to hook everyone when you can find the 1-2 Survivors you want dead there are no mechanics in the game Survivors can use to hide from Killer Instinct.

"Frenzy Hits take away Dead Hard/Off The Record"

All hits do that, since it puts you into the Deep Wound regardless. Want to track a certain survivor? Might I suggest Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage, it does what Legion does, but better.

Legion isnt come god tier tunneling machine, they are literally the exact same as any other killer, if not easier to face against since if they hit you in Feral Frenzy while tunneling, they still have to fatigue before hitting you, and any additional hits in Frenzy is just free distance.

If you want to look at a killer with huge tunneling potential, look at high mobility killers like Nurse or Blight, who have an easier follow-through hit, where in a lot of cases, the distance you make from getting hit (even with certain exhaustion perks) just isnt enough (even before the update).

  • @LapisInfernalis said:

What do you mean by give up? Only DCs or insta killing on the hook / just standing in a corner as well?

Giving up means either the killer refusing to participate in normal gameplay (AFKing, hiding from survivors, etc) or the survivors letting themselves go on hook on purpose to leave the match.

  • @Xperian said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3094426#Comment_3094426

That doesn't help if you're the first survivor he pops T3 on. Thanks for your suggestion but "jumping in a locker" is not great advice in many cases. Are you going to be at a locker every time he might have T3? Are you going to do that against every Mikey until you know if he has it? Just change the stupid addon.

If you are going to go down anyways, there is no reason to not hop into a locker, makes them waste their time if they swing into the locker, and since you were going to go down anyways you arent really losing anything from it.

  • They probably got rid of it when changing how things are loaded. I always thought that the main menu just deloaded everything from the killer's/survivor's side of thing to make the game run smoother but I might be wrong, but I still dont see why we cant just have it so we can go back and forth a lot easier.

  • A majority of offerings that are disabled/cannot be used are done because BHVR wants to control certain aspects of the game, one of the hugest examples I can think about is the Moonlight offerings, since they affect the lighting of the map and BHVR wants to directly control that aspect of the game.

  • I did this challenge as Hillbilly and it was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had, it's disorienting and really makes me feel sick, I hope this challenge gets changed to make it more accessible to players.

    • NOED is entirely preventable and is only active during the end-game.
    • NOED's aura is revealed to survivors to make it easier to cleanse even if it does activate.
    • Off The Record and Decisive Strike can be used anytime during the match and isnt exclusive to the end-game, therefore removing it's end-game potency entirely helps balance it out, or at least limit how useful it is.

If you want something to complain about... I would focus on DS's stun timer since a huge portion of the stun duration is taken up by getting off the killer's back, I think BHVR really needs to either fix the animation to give the survivor more time or increase the stun duration. It's literally the only thing I would change from the perk mentioned in this post.

They'd need quick and quiet for such a tactic to be effective, you'd be able to see the noise notification/killer instinct abruptly stopping. It's easy to tell when someone enters a locker in your radius as any killer. You should not be traversing long distances to stab ALL survivors period, it's not what should be encouraged.

Bodyblocking is hard to do as when you get hit the killer can phase through your body and they are faster than you so 9 times out 10 you can't if were close together.

Yes because not mending isn't really a intuitive way for survivors to interact is it? That's why making lockers more useful to survivors is a start especially after the recent nerfs to survivor, I can't count how many times back when I first started the game I'd find people in lockers as legion and I just felt bad for them, they had the right idea to hide from the killer but were punished for it.

After all if you guess right with lockers or catch on it's a free down anyways as you can open lockers mid feral frenzy, why make them more useless?

Lockers are intended for a risk/reward system, their core design is to hide from the killer or waste the killer's time, however lockers by design arent an "end all be all" for hiding, the only hide Auras and slightly muffle grunts of pain. However Killer's Instinct BY DESIGN is suppose to counter it. Killer's Instinct provides rough information instead of a consistent amount, but is by design meant to counter things that would otherwise counter Aura Reading.

Legion isnt the only killer that gets Killer's Instinct from people in lockers (since Killer's Instinct at it's core is suppose to reveal people in lockers anyways, the only exception is that Twin's Killer Instinct is only hidden while crouched and is mechanically different to prevent camping); Victor (The Twins) gets it while being in an idle state, Artist gets for survivors within a locker that is within the flight path of Dire Crows, Nemesis Vaccine's still reveal people in lockers (even if incredibly niche), etc.

"Id find people in lockers as Legion and I felt bad for them", as unemphatic as this might seem, it's not your fault, they just need to learn how to play against Legion. If you are playing against people who hide in lockers against them, it's safe to say, they dont know how Legion mechanically works, and they need to take the time to learn (and trust me, with Thana Legion being meta, they are going to have plenty of time in a match to learn lol).

Also "They'd need Quick N Quiet for such a tactic to be effective" is a poor argument when most maps have enough space and time for you to hop in a locker and completely negate their power or deny the 4/5th hit by hiding, it's would be horrible design.

Also if you get grabbed from a locker you still deny everyone else getting injured and still give the Legion the "free down that was 100% totally unavoidable with no counterplay at all"... so why does it even matter anyways? Less pressure for the Legion, at least for Mural Sketch and Never Sleep Pill users.

"They are in a locker, therefore they arent doing the objective", if you are mending, you arent doing the objective either, and if you are, you are probably at risk of going down to Deep Wound. Dont make it seem like this is some positive revelation for the killer, it literally is just the exact same thing as playing normally, it just makes the gameplay more annoying for both sides.

When you play, you need to look at what risk is worth taking for the reward, and how much people can or will capitalize off of it, you do it without realizing it half the time, but sometimes you really need to look at the risk/reward of the situation to determine what to do. And that's the thing with Legion, Legion is full of risk/reward situations, and rather than creating a new mechanic to counter a mechanic for a killer's power that doesnt need to be tweaked, I would instead encourage the developers to better explain killers and maybe introduce a way of explaining and practicing killers to learn their powers. It removes a lot of the risk. It reduces the options of counterplay, and limits it to your entire team hiding in lockers for 10 seconds over and over. It is poor design.

Again, the issue isnt Legion at all, it's the lack of information on how to play against them.

  • Im sorry, but if Legion didnt get Killer's Instinct for people in lockers, then the Legion would be a made a horrible killer(s). Anytime anyone gets injured, people would just hide in lockers instantly.

Like you can physically see whenever Legion uses their power very clearly when people just start going into Deep Wound, typically it's best to space out and stuff. My only issue is Mural Sketch and Never Sleep Pills, but I typically follow teammates or the Legion and bodyblock while Im in Deep Wound to deny their power or make their job way harder.

Overall I think Legion are fine the way they are, the main issue is how uninformed people are with Legion, they dont really understand how to play against them so it makes the experience overall worse in SoloQ.

  • @Tsulan said:

The issue is, how do you buff solo queue to SWF levels, without also buffing SWF? Every attempt to do so in the past. Has also buffed SWF.

Only way to bring both on the same level, is something the community is against: ingame voice chat.

More information, maybe have some UI showing what people are doing, maybe possible dialogue options to tell others what to do and coordinate better. Voice/Proximity Chat wouldnt be a terrible option, but in areas with people speaking multiple languages it might not be as helpful of a solution (EU) (also the community is not at all against V/PC, the developers have made it very clear that they dont want to add V/PC due to it not being super accessible with multiple languages involved).

Also if you bring SoloQ up to the level of SWF, maybe you can balance the game better? Maybe you dont have the survivor community completely split over the way they queue into a match? There is clearly an issue with SoloQ just overall being a worse experience so it shouldnt be ignored because the killer got bullied once or twice, everyone has rough matches from time to time, it's not that huge of a deal.

  • @Ayamir said:

Just run Corrupt Intervention + Thana and puke on gens smh why bother she's literally one of the most braindead killers to play rn.

nah jk I am a bit salty and tired of all the Thana Plagues this killer is such a bad design everytime I see this ######### I want to instantly DC beceause I already know we're gonna spend 2 minutes on gens even if my team plays well at some point we will run out of resources.

I dont run slowdown perks on any of my killers, they are boring as hell to use.

  • 3-Gens get hard countered if you split progress between generators, also perks like Prove Thyself allow you finish a generator that might be close to completion. Grouping on a single generator is overall a bad idea in general unless it's close to being done, so it should be general practice anyways to split progress across a 3-Gen.

But here is another hard counter to 3-Gens... watching what generators you do. While it can be harder in SoloQ due to the limited amount of information for you and your teammates, directing people away from generators to avoid a 3-Gen is something you can very well do, and even I sometimes do, of course you will have that one player that just doesnt pay attention, in which case, split generator progress as previously mentioned.

  • To be honest, those statistics dont really seem that bad, but Id imagine the numbers might seem bigger/smaller than they really are since it's only 15 matches which is rather small for a data group. But it's nice to see people record data from their matches, so props to yall.

No. Not because you aren't right, but simply for the fact that every survivor and every killer needs to come with 3 unique perks.

This entire question is a hypothetical situation, not everything has to be a realistic case by case analysis.

I always cringe so hard when I spawn together with another survivor and their very first action is to fast vault towards the gen 5m away. I know they just messed up, but just a dead giveaway for the killer ^^

I only ever do that if Im using Quick N Quiet (with it being ready to use) because Im too lazy to slow vault otherwise.

  • I just think BT should straight up be reworked, and heavily increasing the base duration of Endurance after an unhook. Maybe BT can fit more into the name and become more "borrowed time", like each gen that pops increases the duration you can remain on hook for?

  • I still use BBQ even after the change, it just feels nice to use. Though Im thinking about getting my hands on Sadako just for Floods of Rage. Overall I mostly use aura reading perks since it helps with hitting curves as Billy (or over-loop Corrupt Purge shots as Plague).

  • @Sluzzy said:

Trying to invalidate the horrendous balancing and state of the game by saying survivors are causing killrates to increase is ridiculous.

Who would spend their free time to simply join a match to lose on purpose? Think about it.

But giving up is actually tremendously more important stat because it shows the game is broken. In a proper game, all 5 players should feel they have a chance at winning.

When did I ever say the changes made to the game were balanced? When did I ever say that people being upset was invalid? The only thing I said was that people were going out of their way to throw matches intentionally to raise killrates, again, I implore you to look through the forums, you will find posts of people saying they are doing it.

If you bothered to look through my posts and comments on other posts, you would know that I think some changes on both sides need to be made, I think SoloQ is horrible, it's been horrible for years, and BHVR needs to give SoloQ major QoL. I think some of the perks changes they made arent healthy for the game at all. But ignore all of that, because one posts makes me against everything Ive said up until this point apparently.

"Who would spend their free time to simply join a match to lose on purpose? Think about it." Youre saying that when this is the same community where I had a guy cyberstalk me for months and constantly DDOSed and harassed me on Twitter, and only stopped when their account for suspended for harassment. They spent all of their time DDOSing me and harassing me over something they didnt like, so do you think people wont throw matches intentionally over something they dont like?

Lets see what next cringe theory Killer will pull out tomoroow

I was playing survivor. I play both sides equally and I dont consider myself a main of either side, and most of my time recently has been spent as survivor because the queues are quicker. But I guess Im a "baby killer main" for pointing out people doing an awful thing, gotta create that "us VS them" situation to make an argument that doesnt exist. I implore you to look through the forums, there are posts of people admitting to purposely throwing games to inflate killrates.

    Sounds like a wacky conspiracy

Im not saying that everyone is going out of their way to do it. Im saying that some people are, while the matches I had, the people doing it were a lot more prevalent, I do reckon I just got rather unlucky. But, again, I would recommended looking through forum posts, since again, there are a lot of people who openly admitted to doing it in their matches.

(Also I never mentioned people letting themselves go on hook, I mentioned people sandbagging others on purpose, it seems like everyone is just pretending that I said "everyone who lets themselves go on hook is purposely throwing the match for killrates" when I never specifically said that.)

That is the topic of the debate and purely my objection. You can say sandbagging and throwing is happening more or whatever. But nobody is doing it to inflate kill rates.

You are objectively wrong, there are people doing it intentionally, you can look through the forums, you WILL find posts of people doing it if you look enough (of course most people of which get their accounts suspended, but their posts should still be there regardless).

Oh, this only happened once for me (and I was the killer). That despicable behavior should be a straight ban.

It should be a week long temp-ban if enough warnings are issued against a player. Just something to heavily discourge players from doing it, but of course BHVR's reporting system isnt that good, and action isnt taken unless you are on PC (Console reports are worthless) and you have video proof.

Yes, because killers want to justify being overpowered.

And you want to justify people openly admitting to ruining the games for others intentionally? Or maybe instead of justifying an awful playstyle that ruins the matches for others, maybe you should point towards constructive criticism and actually provide helpful insight towards making the game better, or would that be too hard?

  • @skylerbound said:

The gaslighting is getting out of hand. The vast conspiracy that survivors are doing X instead of - maybe things are overtuned - is crazy

If all of the matches Ive played includes survivors spam vaulting windows to reveal the location of others and bodyblocking windows and pallets to get people killed, they are obviously sandbagging. I can tell the difference between someone just playing poorly and someone going out of their way to ruin the match for others.

  • @Gladonos said:

This is not happening. Nice try.

My matches beg to differ. Plus you can find a few forums posts/comments to posts of people saying that they are going out of their way to inflate kill rates by doing this. So yea, you are objectively wrong.

  • I think the cooldown needs to changed so it only has a cooldown after a survivor is exposed by it, instead of it being on cooldown after activation. Dragon's Grip can work for some killers though, it's pretty decent on Spirit and Wraith since they can sneak towards the survivor easily (or camp the gen easily in Wraith's case).

  • @Phasmamain said:

Me too. Been having a lot of fun with clown since I’m not forced to run slowdown perks anymore. That doesn’t stop every killer I fight from running 3-4 of them though :(

People can bring what they want, but I think once BHVR starts to see a lot of killers relying on certain perks a lot, they might tone things down a bit, or at least I would hope so.

  • I dont think the game is sided at all, but in all do respect, I dont bring meta builds, I dont bring slowdown, I dont tunnel or camp, and most of the killers I play are widely regarded as "weak" by the community. Im basically shooting myself in the foot while playing. But I dont play for kills, I play for fun.

I played some killer matches, and i felt sorry for the survivors, more than usual. poor guys didnt have a chance. ofc i'm not playing against sweaty swf groups so far. but damn these solo survivors really have it bad and i can see it with my own eyes as ik play killer. i just cant kill them i feel for them and i let 1 or 2 just finish the gens cause its honestly very sad

Personally, I never used insane meta builds, most of my builds are just for fun, and all my matches have felt the exact same as before the update.

Of course, if you use meta on either side, you are going to have a higher chance, but I still think SoloQ has it pretty bad regardless.

Most of the time, yeah. Sometimes I just don't want to put on my headphones though.

Understandable, the only time I purposely put on headphones while playing is with Legion, mainly since I normally just slap on a few mixtapes and jam out while in chase.
