  • Nah, if you ask me Clown is a perfectly balanced killer, doesn't need a buff but a nerf would hurt him badly.

Yeah, if anyone wants to discuss in depth LF changes I will be keeping an eye on this thread so hey, lets have a chat!

I'm willing to talk about some LF changes with you because holy only he definitely needs some buffs or a complete rework!

I like the idea of his chainsaw swing getting extended when LF destroys a pallet as well as his chainsaw swing not getting interrupted. However, I feel like he will need to keep a 32m terror radius because assuming if my idea was in the live build... If you're caught off guard, you're gonna get downed. Survivors need at least some warning since Leather Face is a true close range punisher with these changes.

Now, I wanna talk about Overcharge! I like the concept of it, Leather Face now has a extra boost to his chainsaw swing and can come clutch if you use it to catch a survivor at the last second. Yes it does need to be charged by downing two survivors with Bubba's Chainsaw but it offers huge potential during a chase!

See I really like your idea, the only issue is whether the devs want to just buff him or rework him, if it is just buffs then it would probably be things like moving quicker with the saw revving and stuff like that. If a rework though they should give your idea some thought.

  • Yeah, if anyone wants to discuss in depth LF changes I will be keeping an eye on this thread so hey, lets have a chat!

Killers aren't supposed to get 4Ks every game.

Yeah but you are lucky to get a 4k with LF at high rank AT ALL.

Yea - 4Ks are supposed to be uncommon. I'm trying to figure out the issue here?

I agree hes a little weaker than some - but it's not impossible to 4K.

The issue is that what is the point of LF when you have killers like Billy and Myers with FAR more competent insta down attacks. LF needs improvements to give him his place in the game.

If you don't like him don't play him? If you aren't good with him, don't play him?

People play every single killer, what's the point when you have nurse and billy... oh that's right - because some people are just good with other killers while others are not.

I have 700 hours on the game and about half of that is dedicated to Leatherface, I can play LF I am just not delusional to the fact that he is a terrible killer and is part of the trio alongside Wraith and Freddy

    Leatherface requires way simpler changes.

    • A smaller terror radius
    • A reduction to the speed penalty he gets by revving the chainsaw OR a shorter charge time
    • His chainsaw attack changed so it doesn't stop after breaking a pallet
    • His acceleration stat fixed (it's currently bugged, making LF slower than he should be when he uses the chainsaw).

I can agree with most of these but why out of all the killers does Leatherface need a smaller terror radius? His power isn't exactly silent.

edit - Also that is a genuine question I know it comes off as a little sarcastic with how I worded it.

A smaller TR would be beneficial to get closer to the survivors before they become aware of you, this helps him out as a close range only killer.

weak? leatherface has a permanent downer. he doesn't need totems or stalk to get survivors on exposed mode. if he needs something is to be nerfed

I am here to answer the call.

So then, where are LF issues? Lets start by comparing him to billy, another insta down character.
Billy has great mobility, a reliable insta down attack and decent mindgame potential. On top of that he shares the same base stats as LF ( Movement speed, Terror Radius etc. )

Leatherface on the other hand had NO mobility whatsoever, all he can do is run at survivors and hope he gets them. LF insta down attack is extremely unreliable because he needs to charge a meter up and then release it and you can release it too early which cancels the chainsaw, he moves slower while he is revving the saw up which means he loses distance on the survivors, he has a much higher risk of bumping into objects than Billy AND on top of that if he does, he is punished FAR more severely than Billy. Finally LF has no mindgame potential around loops because of the nature of his chainsaw slowing him down.

Billy should have the mobility advantage, no question, but LF should be a much more reliable punisher with his saw up close as a reward for having to chase the survivors down with no mobility options.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that LF add-ons are abysmal compared to Billy so that needs to be reworked too.

As @Peanits mentionned, nothing has been announced.
But I am curious, what would you like to see in a DbD Halloween event?

Well I know it would be difficult because of him being a license AND a DLC but I think it would be cool, because of the new movie coming out, to have an event that maybe revolves around Michael Myers in some way.

  • @Global said:
I think LF was rushed when he first came out and still do. He is like billys little brother, sucks at everything his big brother does.

Oh he was definitely rushed, he released withy no survivor, and his map was just a crappy swamp variant.

  • @ToastfaceKilla said:
I think all LF needs really is a 100% movespeed while charging, and a little more speed during the swing.

I would personally go further with the numbers, but yes those are some of the buffs I would like, along with a complete rework of his add-ons.

  • For me in order:
    ( For buffs )

    1.Freddy
    2.Wraith
    3.Leatherface

  • @fuzzyhobo said:
His power can be countered, BBQ can be countered easily.
The fact that billy quickly leaves the hook and goes for someone new across the map is the way every killer should work instead of just sticking around and worrying about that someone is gonna go for a save.

Bubba is the exact opposite, he's designed to camp, almost every Bubba I meet has Insidious, so if any killer is in need of a rework it's him.

Which is a shame about LF because I think he is visually one of the most intimidating killers, shame his power doesn't back that up.

Nice idea, but survivors would simply not play on the PTB. Since there's nothing for them to gain. We've seen this several times in the past. No huge survivor buff? No interest.

It is a real shame because the PTB is the ideal place for all of this. But I guess survivors always take priority for the devs so yeah.

I think the problem with the PTB is, that there is no real benefit for playing on it. People don't get BPs, rank, shards or anything. So they don't bother, unless it's something exciting as a new killer. But even then, all survivors try to test the killer instead of playing survivor.

We need an incentive for players to actually play both roles on the PTB. Maybe shards or even a small amount of auric cells for X amount of games/time played.

It's really annoying because most of the killers in the game don't need incremental changes, they need more substantial, immediate buffs. Especially the likes of Freddy, Wraith and Leatherface.

  • Didn't they talk about his power getting stronger as the match progresses? Would be cool but I think it would need to be fairly substantial so that it compensates for his weakness early on.

    Lightweight Chainsaw -

A lighter and easier to use model of chainsaw. When charging the saw, killer does not suffer from reduced movement speed.

I think this would help LF hugely more than billy but would still be useful for both, not sure if it would be too powerful though?

This should be part of LF’s base kit.

    I appreciate the plug!

the hindered effect is a bit to op though especially if they proxy camp

The reason for the hindered effect is really because LF has no map pressure, I do see what you mean about the proxy camping but at the same time it would be an ultra rare so it would be too present in the majority of matches I think.

  • @BigBadPiggy said:
Those would be really nice. I feel like all killers should have super rare add ons, it would add more variety. The only killers who don't are Leatherface, Hillbilly, and Nurse.

Thank you! Yes Ultra rares are meant to be unique add-ons for each killer so I tried to think about things that would be cool for Leatherface that Billy might not get AS much benefit from.

  • I think part of the problem with may killers is that the devs are kind of afraid to have a killer commit to their desired playstyle.

What I mean by that is like for example, the whole point of the Wraith is to sneak up on survivors, uncloak and get the surprise attack. But he doesn't do that very well because he take forever to uncloak and it is still pretty easy to see him even when he is invisible.

Leatherface is another example, DESIGNED to be a close range punisher but fails in almost every way because he is clunky and slow, so most people just resort to camping with him.

Definitely buff old killers a lot and then create new, powerful killers.

    Good post @Nickenzie

P.S Forgot to say lol, my point about Wraith, Leatherface etc is that they are very stubborn about buffing them to any high lengths which is why I say they are afraid to commit.

I actually like this idea a lot.

I have always said this. This game needs more mechanics for both sides.

The game should be in phases. Find gas for the generators for the early game, repair generators for the mid game, and this BW effect for the late game could be interesting.

If they are gonna give killers mechanics like this, I actually am okay with giving survivors inbuilt kindred effect etc.

That is actually EXACTLY what I was thinking, if BW gets built in, then Kindred being built in also seems less crappy for the killer because at least both sides have something to be concerned about.

  • @Might_Oakk said:
I have been running BW instead of Ruin at R1 lately.

Its main benefit is the element of surprise. If it was always a thing everyone would just leave before you can get the survivor to the hook or hide.

I admit this could potentially become a problem, but at the same time it may also become a form of pressure on the survivors that, if they don't get out of the gate quick enough, they aren't going anywhere.

  • @CallMeRusty420 said:
Wait is this something that the devs are actually considering or is this just a discussion between people that like the idea?

There is a part of the Q and A where I believe Horvath talks about BW becoming built in to help the endgame for killers. They all seem quite keen on the idea as well!

  • @Vietfox said:
"On top of that, having BW activated as long as someone is on the hook, as opposed to a one time use for the first hook for 60 seconds is also real nice."
That totally sounds as a free kill for me...

There would still be some counter play to it though, if the killer does hook someone and camps them with BW active, then all the other 3 survivors need to do is wait at the gate and then leave when it is done. It may indeed mean the inevitable demise of 1 survivor, but in that respect nothing will have changed because a killer will usually camp a survivor anyway if the gates are powered.

What this adds though is the option of a snowball effect. If a killer chooses to, they can leave the hook, find another survivor without fear of them escaping, and then hook them while the first gets rescued. The BW would still be active but it makes it less of a necessity to camp the survivor, just to get any reward for your labour.

  • @snozer said:

    @Zanfer said:

    @Twix said:
Wonderful idea as long as your positioning isn't given away to the killer. Sure, don't let Survivors escape when someone is hooked, but don't give me up if I'm hiding near the exit.

The position wouldn't be given away, as long as the survivor is on the hook the bloodwarden effect would stay up

so a quick save or use of a perk to jump off and everyone escapes scot free. still a tiny bit better then nothing.

It would still make it better than BW is right now though, plus it wouldn't require you to use a perk slot for it

  • @245_Trioxin said:
Agreed. I think it's a wonderful idea for endgame, for both killers and survivors. It'll force survivors to prioritize leaving the match, which will mitigate matches being held hostage, and will also entice the killer to step away from the final hook, as they'll be able to hook someone else and prolong the BW effect.

It could make for some really clutch plays on both sides.

I am curious though, If BW does get built in for all killers, that would surely mean that Freddy will need a new perk.

I think that would be interesting to see.

  • Oh I can see it now:

Bill is hooked: "This went to hell in a handbasket real fast!"

Francis comes over to unhook but the killer is still right near the hook.

Francis unhooks Bill, killer IMMEDIATELY downs Bill again.

Bill: "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING FRANCIS!"

  • Make Leatherface great again!

  • I think ideally every killer should be at about Hillbilly's level ( though some may argue even at Nurse level ) but in their own way.

For example Billy is great because of his high mobility, and Leatherface should be great as a close range dominator. I do think we are a long way away though from this being a reality.

  • Well it seems the real issue is actually the framerate problems they are having right now so hopefully they will get sorted in due time and I will be able to aim with Huntress again.

    Thanks for reading this though!

This game on console is so frame-f***ed. I play on PS4 as well. Skipping frames throughout the entire match, even if the killer has good connection. I’m hard-wired, so my connection is stable as well. I just feel like if the frames were fixed or touched up you won’t need the crosshair. I never had an issue landing hatchets before the latest patch (that is unless of course survivors are good at dodging/turning corners)

Yeah you know it is actually the same with me, I honestly have never been a Huntress main or anything but I used to get pretty good shots before 2.0 and now I find it REALLY hard to hit people.

Maybe then this is the real issue I ( and clearly many others ) are having. If the framerate gets fixed then I may actually change my mind about this post.
