  • Man, your post just make me realize, that I'm such a lazy person. xD

I didn't took any screenshots of this event, wow...

  • Free Dbd on Epic, what did you expect?=)

  • Personally I've never been in that situation, but according to some vids that I watched, this is indeed a "tactic" with no counterplay. Killer can't do anything but leave these 2 survivors.

Any tactics that have no counterplay should be removed.

    "Again with Nurse..."

    Nurse have a counterplay.

  • I'm having a penalty only when my internet turned off.

When it was crashes, I don't have any penalty tho.

  • You're free to slug whenever you want, nothing stopping you from doing so, coz you don't hold the game by doing so.

But still... In morality manners... Don't leave survivors on the ground, when everyone been downed.

Aside from moments, when you just can't phisically hook them due to some instances.

  • First time reading a term... "Medkit abuse".

It just similar to say "Killer M1 abuse".

  • "SHOULD CJ TECHS BE REMOVED?"

No, it's a tech with a fair counterplay.

  • New killers can just completely abandon this game after 1 match against "swf bully squad".

And it's nothing good about it.

    It's an MMR issue.

  • As long as a "tech" has a counter, it should not be removed.

    "Aside from locker saves spam"

  • Hag. I love playing strategically, preparing the "battlefield" before an actual "fight" and mindgame survivors at loops with her power. She feels different to play as.

While other players telling that she's boring to play as or against, I find her the most entertaining and fun, since you have to play smart and think a lot if you want to succeed, aside from knowing the basics mindgames in loops.

Tho, considering how Knight will look and his power, I might change my main, since I really adore Middle Ages.=)

  • Survivors do be hiding, watching, and laughing....

Yes, but only lightly. Lerys has snow and i think RPD also has light rain.

But it is a design and performance choice i guess.

Strong rain or thunder would disturb the gameplay and sound. I think i would like it anyways.

Some people have issues with noticing survivors even without rain, thunder or snow.

I'm not even gonna mention the scratch marks...

  • Personally playing on Epic, because no one can check my profile and write whatever they want. xD

I guess I'm more of a survivor main... Much of the content that got me interested in the game was from friends streaming me their survivor games, and I do play that role more often due to having a bunch of friends to duo with (a lot of them I actually met during games as killer :D). I'm not really good at, well, surviving, and I wouldn't play it solo, but I enjoy playing it with friends and I know I'll eventually improve. :)

I do greatly enjoy playing killer as well, and before playing the game, when I started exploring the wiki, I had the biggest crush on Hag. I though she was the coolest looking killer and I really wanted to learn to play her, she was the first DLC I bought. I was so excited, and immediately heartbroken to learn she required a lot of map knowledge and some other teachables to be played well, so I set my expectations a bit lower and learnt to play Legion. It took me a lot of time to start playing other killers because I'm just really attached to Legion and Hag now. <3

Yes, first and foremost when you learning the game, you paying attention to the characters appearance, and when you found one, you're trying your best to master it.=) Over time you might change your favorite role or character to try out new things, but in the end, you might stick to one that most fun for you, which is exactly called - main.=)

    @Thusly_Boned said:

I disagree with the OP's thought that everyone has a main, or their definition of main (I would define a main as a role or character that a player plays disproportionately to all others, and I feel like that is probably the common interpretation).

If you look at my overall hours, it's almost a dead even split. But I started out as a killer main, and have gradually played more and more surv to the point that I play more surv at like a 2:1 ratio. The new incentive system has only exacerbated this.

Which role do I have more affinity for? It's close, maybe a toss-up, but probably killer, tbh. However I play a lot more surv now in large part because it's just less stressful. It's easier to get off work and just decompress playing surv. I find killer more fun, but also more aggravating.

As far as characters/killers themselves go, it might be my ADHD, but I'm like a bird with shiny objects, and can't settle on one (or even a few). Sometimes I try to commit, but can't.

On the surv side I have like 12 who are at least P10, and I play regularly. Yui and Haddie are my two most played now, but that will probably change (especially if they don't show Haddie some love). Similar story on the killer side, though I do have prefer Onryo, Spirit, and Plague for their characterization/lore/power, but others for overall gameplay. But I am just as likely to be playing any one of like a dozen killers at any given time.

I don't necessarily agree that everyone has a main or role they clearly prefer. But if you really distill this down to a hypothetical scenario where I was forced to chose only one role and character I would be able to ever use based on how much I like them, I would probably choose killer/Onryo. Probably. Ask me the same question a month from now and you might get a different answer.

But thank goodness that isn't a thing, because variety is the spice of life.

As I was saying, if you don't have a preferred character, I'm sure you have a preferred role, the role you more comfortable with and have more fun.

Personally, in other online MOBA or MMO games that I played, I was always picking or creating a tank class, coz I really adore and enjoy the concept of having a tons of hp and armor, being unkillable or "Hard to kill unit" in such.

Unfortunatelly in Dbd we don't have something similar, but the concept of a killer at whole, is something I was looking for if you know what I mean.=)

I'm a hag main for now, but I might reconsider my main when Knight comes out.=)

    @JustAnotherNewbie said:

I thought playing both sides improved your gameplay from both sides. Like, as a survivor if you play killer you start to understand killer more in depth and vice versa. So I'm not sure I agree that someone cannot be exceptional on both.

Killers do have a lot more variety so someone who indeed specializes on one killer, may be better than someone who plays many killers on a very high level. I would compare it to a one-trick pony main in League. Even Faker played different roles than mid lane and it probably made him an all around better player.

I personally play 95% survivor at the moment and maybe even less than 5% killer. I didn't like who was free so I was trying to save up for one I like. I don't have that much time to play both as I work full time and my net isn't always stable. I started as survivor so I'm more biased towards survivor. Currently I'm trying to learn the Artist. I really love her design and her powers are cool. She does need some setting up to do and I can't say I'm really good at it. At the moment my experience as survivor somewhat helps me, although I just got a tie cause I kept getting into chases with two very chase oriented survivors and it didn't help that I was lagging like mad. Regardless I got away with 2 sacrifices because I knew the people slamming gens were probably not that good at chases they fell to NOED (this really is a second chance perk atm). What I'd like to get better at is injuring survivors with my birds, currently I'm not that good at it as I'm still learning the ropes but I'd like to believe my chasing skills as survivor will come in handy maybe.

As for survivor most of them are interchangeable unfortunately. I expected to like certain survivors and I do like them (Mikaela, Nea) and expected to be a Rebecca main, but somehow I ended up an Ada main. Currently I'm playing her with a bit of a stealthy build since I want to get my pips fast and since she is spy-like it sort of fits her.

I run Dead Hard, Distortion, Clairvoyance (I like being able to see the chests as well) and Resilience for the extra action speed. Although my favorite build on her is Dead Hard, Residual Manifest, Blash Mine and Flashbang. But it's a very risky build and currently I don't have the skills to make it work. Maybe someday I'll be able to play with it the way I imagine. If I get to Iri 1 before the reset I'll switch to this build as I don't have to try as hard anymore. It's simply the grind is too much for my schedule right now.

Playing both sides indeed giving you the same expirience, you might even learn the game faster.

    But here's a thing...

Sometimes in a rough matches, let's say you're a nurse main for example. xD And you decided to play something different... Nemesis, and you horribly losing in a match, you'd probably think: "Man, this killer feels much weaker and I'm tired of running after them... If only I picked Nurse, the match will be over already..." That means that... You were enjoying playing nurse more, and after switching a killer you understand it more.

But when people constantly plays different "classes", they probably haven't found which one they enjoy yet, or they simply have a different source of having fun. The bad thing about it imo: They're not going to get stronger at the game, if they constantly switching mains.

I mean, I have a friend who just couldn't decide which killer he likes more, so he's playing "everything" for like 2 years, and not long ago, he actually come to me and said: "I really like to play as Spirit, I like how her power works, I like her outfits", and I was like: "Yeees, finally".

  • Well, idk what to say tbh...

I wish him all goodies with best regards!

I have some killers/characters that I would like to play more offten than others but I really offten play most killers so I don't have any main at all.

If you playing a killer more often and enjoying that role more (not even matter which character), that means you're a killer main, and probably more expirienced with killer.=)

  • Crashes sometimes, yes.

I do, but we both know reports do nothing without video evidence and a signed notorized affidavit from yourself and the offending party in which they admit guilt. It helps to have them on camera making a formal apology as well.

I am the nicest killer you will ever meet. I always give the last survivor hatch or gate. I barely run regression perks, I wouldn't run them all all if games didn't end in four minutes without them.

The problem is that anything you do as killer is construed as toxic. If you body block with BT and I rehook you or leave you on the ground, that's toxic. If you're the only survivor I can find because you keep bagging at pallets and consequently get outplayed because you are in fact not as good as your favorite DBD YouTuber, that's toxic. If you get yourself into a three gen and I have the temerity to defend it, that's toxic.

Fact of the matter is that survivors have unrealistic and ridiculous expectations of killers. God help the people that DC on the first down vs. my clown. They must instantly explode when they play vs an actual good killer.

"The problem is that anything you do as killer is construed as toxic." - Yes, right.=) Thats why I stopped being nice and just playing the game casually, also... Some survivors don't even want you to be nice. They find it... Rude...? (Fragile ego)

You play the game how you want, and you're doing the right thing tho.=)

  • I don't know... Considering killer's regression perks...

  • I sometimes completely forgetting about this perk and being like:

"THERE IS NO WAY YOU READING MY MOVES THAT GOOD!!!"

Yes, it's really fun even playing against it.=)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3244057#Comment_3244057

Yeah I played years of dota with people screeching at me in Spanish and Russian and never got remotely close to the amount of toxicity and you see in this game. Every third killer match I get death threats or invited to commit self harm. Constant invites to Xbox lobbies so they can find my IP address and DDOS me. I play off meta killers with off meta builds and it simply. Does. Not. Matter. I'm the bad guy and deserve all the invective they want to throw at me. It's exhausting.

They only do that by the way you played a killer. Not coz you simply playing a killer.=)

I find that some survivors can blame you for stuff you didn't even do so...

Also, if you receiving such behaviour from them after a match, don't forget to properly report it, because it's not acceptable.

  • @HugTheHag said:

Oh I'm not denying them the right to debate, I'm sorry if it felt that way, that was unintentional. I just think it rarely has any positive outcome, but I could be wrong.

I'm lucky to rarely see any of these behaviours in game on either side (I can't remember the last time someone teabagged me and I've only ever been hit on hook a couple of times), so coming on the forums is always an adventure in seeing the other side of DbD, haha !

(I have to say this) Did someone told you that you're a really nice guy?=)

Don't apologise for anything, discuss freely on a forum, your opinions really matter.=)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3244032#Comment_3244032

Fair, but that's not the point of this thread. The point is that there are many cases where survivors flame the killers but do the same (or worse) actions on their own side.

In this case I agree, If you shaming someone for something, don't do that "something" yourself.

There is even a word for that... I forgot...

  • @almofan1001 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3244016#Comment_3244016

It IS toxic if you also shame the opposing player for it. It is no different than saying the other person sucks at the game and flaming them for it. Except that you try to use "logical" arguments for it, which they are not. Basically gaslighting.

I disagree. It's nothing toxic about shaming the person for doing bad stuff imo.

If the guy cheating in my match to take advantage over me or being really toxic (I mean real toxicity), I will shame it, report it, and I'd say others to report it as well.

But yes, I'm not going to "reveal their names" to the audience or something, only me and the guys in the lobby.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I think toxicity is not defined by one's actions within a game, but one's actions outside of a game.

However, in regards to the amount of toxicity, if you took the amount of people who play solely each side, youll find an even percentage of toxic players for either side. You are more likely to run across a toxic player who is a survivor just from the role demanding more people in comparison to killer.

But ultimately, I think double standards should be directed towards to players who use them, Im kind of tired of the "all survivors do ___" and "all killers do ___" posts. We cant have one day without some form of discourse.

Personally, I don't think that in any game there is a thing like "I play both sides all the time". It's false.

Each person prefer some role over other.

Even in the tournaments of a teamplay games, each person of a team maining 1 role. And he\she plays and practice this role most of the time.

Even if someone plays different roles, they do that mostly for fun, but they do have a main and a main role.

Exactly for this game: Killer mains and Survivor mains see the game completely differently.

Survivors: "There is more toxic killers than survivors."

Killers: "There is more toxic survivors than killers."

    @HugTheHag said:

I don't think making a yet another thread pitting survivors against killers on a matter of honor or faith is very healthy, even if this is presented with remarkable clarity.

I'm sorry for what's heading your way.

Unfortunately, this thing is something you can't really deny in a asymmetrical game, there is always will be a "Fights and argues between survivors and killers", since everyone has a main role, as I mentioned above.=)

  • Agreed. Toxic players can be both sides, but mostly it's survivors.

  • When I play nurse, I play by the "survivor rule book", and they still DC. -_-

So just rub it up, and play how you want.=)

Get it? It's called "Skill issue".

  • Here's some reasons for making mistakes and missing M1:

    1. Killer new to the game.
    2. Killer is sleepy or tired after a "rough day".
    3. Killer is angry, tilted, salty.
    4. Killer is very impatient.
    5. Auto-aim (sometimes).

Usually these are the reasons why even a good and expirienced killers miss M1.

Trying to get 12 kills for archives is so obnoxious when you have angry survivor mains in your games. When I have a challenge on "Kill N survivors by any means", when they DC it actually considering as a kill...

And I do get points when they DC...

Solo queue is too fog damned frustrating for it to have the same disconnect penalties as killers and stomp with friends

    • Killers tunneling at 5 gens. The person being tunneled dc's. The rest of us die.
    • Killers standing next to the hook trade-camping... "Just do five 90-second gens and escape..."
    • Survivors kiting the killer into gens being worked on, whether intentional or not
    • Lethal Pursuer Huntress and I'm the one getting a near-miss hatchet at my feet 3 seconds into the match. She tunnels Feng off the hook, twice, and I try to use For the People, but Feng has ZERO clue I have the perk, and refuses to hold still while the Jill bodyblocks the Huntress. She finally stops just around a corner in front of a pallet, leaving my ass sticking out for a hatchet, but I use For the People anyway THEN, she just stands there, blocking me in place, so I have to go way around to get into the main building. She runs in too, and then cuts me off to take the window first, making me go down. I had enough.
    • 30 minutes to kill, so I'm here typing this. If Cyberpunk didn't freeze so much, I'd be playing that instead of this event that only masks the true horror that is solo queue

    Whats with these survivor mains...?

Guys, you're not playing an arcade game for 1 player, when you can DC and turn off the game whenever you please.

You're playing Online Multiplayer pvp game.

More so... You're playing in a team of other players. By Dcing from matches, you're ruining your teammates expirience.

You guys ever played Dota 2 or LoL? Do you DC from these games as well?

Like... ######### are you talking about? Don't have a mentality of "I brought this game, so I can DC whenever I feel like I don't have fun."

Or when you playing against a killer you don't like.

My guy, I brought Overwatch long ago, I spend more money than I spend on DBD... And I never in my life DC from it, even when I didn't have fun, or the enemy team picked Hamster or whatever character...

If you DCing from games coz of such reasons, don't play this game. Stop ruining others expirience.

Get rid of that mentality of "If I don't have fun, no one will have".

No way Legion's worse than pig. No way. That is the fattest cap I've seen on these forums.

I didn't played Pig at all, I'm not gonna lie, but I did played a lot of legion and I also watched a lot of CMWinter vids on Youtube, I can tell, that Pig makes more pressure and stronger in loops, than legion.=)

    1. Trapper.
    2. Legion.
    3. Freddy.

I mean, Piggy at least have a secondary goal for survivors, which is traps on a head, it puts aditional presure and preventing gen-rush.

And she at least have "some sort of" anti-loop, and she can sneak up.

Aside from these 3 that I mentioned... They are typical M1 killers without an any anti-loop ability.

  • Well, it depends on which killer you play.

Eyrie of Crows is the worst map for any killer, change my mind.

No one aside from OP knows, what happened in this match.

Maybe she was toxic towards killer? Maybe she had "boil over" set of perks?

Why killer would want to wait 4 min with a survivor, instead of just ending the match?
