I've seen you mention old ruin before.... You have quite the fetish for this perk.
I fail to see how OLD ruin was balanced at low ranks. Enlighten me.
Most importantly, I fail to see how it wouldn't be BEYOND broken with Undying. I fail to see how every killer would not choose to run old ruin + Undying combo for a free win.
Perhaps you would get lucky and finish a gen with only or two skill checks. Or maybe you would get 5 in a row and more to come. Maybe you would go Totem Hunting right away. The unpredictable factor was also something that I enjoyed.
Because all this game needs is more RNG to decide your fate. We already have to deal with dead zones as survivor & pallets spawning near others as killers.
From a survivor perspective, I loved this perk for the unique challenge that it presented, as it directly affected your primary objective at all times, as long as the Totem was standing. And it also added "skill" to "skill checks", which was a nice bonus.
Yes, here's the problem, it affected the primary objective at all times, without the killer doing anything, no skill involved, nothing. Killers who ran old ruin pretty much 99% of the time and say that Unbreakable & DS take no skill are hypocrites.
New ruin, at least you need to do something about it, how oppressive it is, depends on how good the killer is & is not exactly a free carry. I've had enough killers in the past DC as soon as their ruin was broken... like it carried them & couldn't win without it....
Not to mention the number of variables involved in hitting a skill check from old ruin. For example, simply having a bad day will be a big factor in whatever you hit the skill check or not.
Old ruin was like a cow that kept giving milk. It was abused so much it eventually got killed/died. This whole discussion awoke PTSD in me from seeing doctors run this perk with Lullaby, reverse skill checks & Unnerving Presence...Yes.... It was... very balanced in this category...
I am not going to elighten you on anything. OP asked for our opinions, so I shared mine.
That is all.
-
This is exactly how it used to be.
-
The only possible answer is the only perk can slow the game down...just a little bit. The one and only, Hex: Ruin.
And no, I am not talking about the virgin New Ruin and its stupid regressing effect. I am talking about the chad Old Ruin and its cursed skill checks:
This, in my opinion, was easily the best and most well-designed perk in the entire game. Not to mention one of the most balanced ones.
From a survivor perspective, I loved this perk for the unique challenge that it presented, as it directly affected your primary objective at all times, as long as the Totem was standing. And it also added "skill" to "skill checks", which was a nice bonus.

In conclusion, this perk had everything that a meta perk should have. A powerful effect, a touch of RNG and counterplay.
No wonder it lasted for as long as it did. Only wish it was still here.

That sounds so cool and scary! Was it like a universal sound that played or was it only when he was stalking you?
It used to warn Survivors actively being stalked by The Shape that his next Tier-up was imminent (Power gauge at ~85 %).
It was disabled after a couple of Patches as the Developers considered it too much information for the Survivors.

That is evil...

Something related to Freddy.

There's three survivors that don't have a killer chasing them in a regular game... and in that game, they outnumber the killer four to one.
This would be a bloodbath. A hilarious bloodbath, but a bloodbath. That said, massive hook dead zones would occur before long and it'd become difficult to hook anyone. Cheryl and David would be hilarious - those two refuse to stay down and extend the match for days.
I wonder if other killers can step on Trapper's traps? Or activate Hag's traps? Or be attacked by Nemesis's zombies? Or become infected by Plague? Be kind of hilarious to see all the killers wheezing and puking.
Every killer can step on Trapper's traps, and it makes their models VERY weird.

And just why is that not a thing anymore?
I suppose no one knows. BVHR's flawed logic...again.

Annoying, but you never see Clown to begin with, so it doesn't matter.

Old Myers when he first came out could stalk multiple survivors at once making for some fast tier ups early game if he caught multiple people out
Basically this. A good mechanic, removed a long time ago for no reason at all.

Off topic, why isn't the fog like that any more? What we have now are like sad little farts emitted from the earth. Ghost Face and Myers would be more terrifying in that kind of a setting.
I have no idea, but I hate the fact that it isn't like that anymore.
-
Yeah, all of Wraith's Lightburn add-ons got removed when his resistance to it was increased.
Not the best of ideas, if you ask me.
-
I think Myers is stronger than perceived to be. The only thing I would like to see is his multi-stalk back.
Oh, and this:

I have every perk unlocked. I just wanna get something other than Tier 1 on my Deathslinger build 😪
Seriously though, I've been looking through over 50 Bloodwebs this event and these four perks still haven't levelled up past Tier 1. A bloodhunt might change that.

(Yes, I'm playing Snipe Slinger.)
To be honest, I don't even know what am I going to do with those Bloodpoints, but I will use them somehow.

I barely have perks to unlock, but a Blood Hunt is a Blood Hunt.

A Blood Hunt? Now we are talking.

What exactly do you all mean by hatch standoff? I started playing after they removed hatch grabs
Back in the day, killers were unable to close the hatch, but they could grab a survivor mid-air if they tried to escape. This often created a situation where both sides were stuck on a standoff:
-If the survivor jumps in the hatch, the killer will grab them.
-If the killer hits the survivor, they will get stuck in the weapon animation and the survivor would escape.
Therefore neither side made a move, and they just stared at each other until one of them decided to end the standoff. Unless you were a little bit creative:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9d1QqO-iM8Many people in the community disliked the standoffs because of the sheer amount of time it took for them to end. I personally liked it, and if they absolutely had to be removed I believe it should've been done in a different manner.

Just out of curiosity, when exactly was it tested? 2016?

PTB Trickster was very bad, but at the very least he could still use his power to some extent.
Ghostface could not.
-
Events are capable of summoning the absolute worst people to play, and for some reason this one has been particularly rough.
The best you can do is ignore it.
-
People are angrier than usual at Spirit today.
Did something happen? Did the devs anounce changes or something similar?

Don't get me wrong I still think egc was a change in right direction.
I just had some good laughs back in the day and I miss that for some reason.
Ah well, fair enough. I absolutely despise the EGC and sincerely wish it got removed from the game.
But hey, at least we kinda agree in here.
-
Because people are salty and can't take a loss.
Spirit takes skill to play, and so does every single killer in the game. Even if there isn't much to their powers, there is still general killer knowledge which is a skill on itself.
Spirit has her problems, but being "easy" to play as is not one of them.
-
We don't have many trackers, so it would be nice to see another one.

Some don't believe so.
Fair enough. Some people have very...unique views regarding balance.

So it has always been.
-
Nope, you are not the only one :)
Perhaps my opinions regarding Endgame are not as unpopular as I first thought.

Not sure if I have shared this before, but if GeneralV was a meme that would be it:

Damn you might the only one tbh. I liked Quentin and new Freddy but that was it.
I just want to see the more popular and more critically acclaimed NOES content in the game personally
Yeah, I know. But then again, it is just a matter of opinions.
I've watched every ANOES movie and the remake was, by far, the best. The only problem is that the Chapter's content is, currently, not very impressive: Freddy's power is extremely boring, Badham has 5 versions and all of them are bad, and Quentin completely lost what made him...well, Quentin.

Would be cool to have Englund Freddy too. Maybe give him new Freddy’s power and return 2010 Freddy to his old power?
That is a good idea, actually. I personally prefer the remake over the original movies, but lots of people don't and I am sure they would love to have the classic Freddy in the game.
As long as 2010 Freddy gets his old power back, I would be okay with this.

Pig and Ghostface also faithful licenses. Both them gives me feels to they are from movies ( I know GF is not movie version but him power same ).
Old Freddy was also faithful license but not anymore sadly. He is just stronger Clown now. Meh.
Oh right, forgot about Pig. She is also pretty faithful.
And as for Ghostface as much as I hate him, I admit he is indeed pretty faithful to the original story that he got in DBD.
-
No, but she was never supposed to be.
-
To be honest with you, I am satisfied with what we currently have. Actually, I could easily live without Spirit and everyone released after her.
All I want to see right now are changes to some of their powers, especially Freddy's.
-
Yeah, Nemesis became basically a slightly worse PH with an extremely boring power.
But then again, he isn't the only one to get unlucky in that regard, as PH itself is not that faithful, nor is Demogorgon . Currently, I would say the most faithful licensed killers are Michael and Bubba.
Freddy used to be faithful to the remake, but you know how this sad story ended.
-
Hillbilly.
With the proper builds, and talent, Billy still is the monster we all loved to face.
-
Myers, simply because he and Freddy definitely were once the scariest killers in the game and he still plays the exact same way that he did back then.
-
Yeah, I've done this once or twice on the legendary occasions where Huntress was the killer in the main menu.
Since I play Freddy almost exclusively, he is the one who is usually there. Which is perfect for me, because I absolutely love to hear the sweet sound of his laugh every time I go back to the menu.

I think old MoM was a close 2nd. That was definitely a "######### were you thinking? "moment. Though with Ash they probably did that deliberately for more $$$. I've seen tons of games release a new character that is OP then after the sales die down. They get hit with the nerf hammer.
Oh no...now I am going to have nightmares with that thing again...
-
Truth be told, the fact that it hasn't been removed yet is genuinely concerning.
-
Look at things from a balance POV is something that I almost never do, but I will take a wild guess here and say that it is mediocre, at best.
-
It won't end well...

If they revert a change it's admitting they were wrong. They very rarely do that. /coughPatch1.9.2cough
I'm probably in the minority here but the one thing I like about his rework is he can't loop me with his chainsaw revved the entire time. I had a problem when Billy's never M1. People kept saying "Just 360" but I found that only works on noob Billys. Even if I like the fact he can't do that anymore I still would have the change reverted. There are only so few killers that are viable against swfs.
It is sad to say this, but I think what happened with Patch 1.9.2 was a one time thing.
That was easily BVHR's worst decision ever, and the backlash was so intense that they admitted they were wrong and reverted almost everything (Nurse's pallet stun thingy is still in the game).
I don't understand how hard it is to do the same thing with Billy and Freddy. Admitting that you made a mistake is not a bad thing, it is actually a very good one.
-
Depends on your definition of "fair".

I will probably do a day of Freddy today and get depressed because I will remember the days of old Freddy.
I realized how fun he was only a few months before his rework. Played him sometimes since he came out as well. Those were good days in 2017. The game was the most interesting during that time.
The good days of 2017 indeed! Freddy on release was definitely his best state ever: a fun, unique killer with a strong power that does leave room for counterplay. It doesn't get better than this.
Not to mention the game itself, aesthetics, events, everything. That is why I need a time machine to return to 1.8.0 and never come back.

Deathslinger and Trickster don't have that problem.
Deathslinger's hitboxes are not the best, if you ask me. And still, doesn't change the fact that we are talking about BVHR.
Use this as a base for a fix and next thing you know Huntress is making spear gun sounds when she throws hatchets.
