You are lucky then, Lery did not changed so much.
Its layout didn't change much, but its visuals being gutted is what bothers me the most.

I love how I am on the same boat as everyone else here, but at the same time I am on a completely different one.
Because I cannot excuse BVHR for a lot of things, but never had a single issue related to performance.
EDIT: Actually I had one of those issues in Trickster's PTB, but I left that thing in less than a day, so it doesn't really matter.
-
No, it isn't. It was a very eerie sound, like murmurs or whispers of agony.

Awww i don't remember! Now i'm really curious, if you remember it's name could you tag me?
Sure! If I do manage to remember or find it, that is.

Old Léry's is a map that I hold close to my heart, and it will always be my favorite.
I main Freddy, btw.
-
As someone who lost his favorite killer, I support this idea.
-
The only perk in the game that slows the game down...just a little bit.
-
This reminds me of that one time when someone answered a comment of mine, but the thread got deleted before I could read the response :(
-
Honestly I see its potential, but still haven't used it myself.
-
Wait, we need a Territorial Imperative buff?
-
Hey, right back at ya, my friend :)
Thank you for your words, it is nice to see that my nostalgic views create good talks and discussions.

omg i know exactly which sound effect you’re talking about. i used to love that one too, i remember it sounding like a distant ringing noise and it always gave me the chills.
Oh, I am glad to see that someone else remembers it. That sound effect was Top Tier, and it really contributed to the immersion.

By the Entity, what did I just watch?

If I can find the video again i'll link it, but there was this Spirit who used a bunch of hatchets.
A hatchet-throwing Spirit is a cursed thought in its own.

Oh god, that reminds me of that cheater that went viral a couple of months ago.
The Spirit with a million hatchets making a bunch of sound effects in the process.
Wait, a Spirit?
I've heard about the Flying GhostHuntress, but Spirit is a new one.

That was back when huntress was still the only ranged killer. Now they have others to compare and use similar methods for
Yes, but we are talking about BVHR here.
Next thing you know, Huntress will make spear gun noises every time she throws a Hatchet

There's also the fact that the projectile is spinning so a 100% to model hitbox would always make it extremely inconsistent is the main issue.
That's before you consider the fact that round hitboxes have better hit detection in DbD due to how the devs have developed the game.
Yeah, there is also that.

No it wont, unless they do it poorly, this can be fixed.
Freaking Nemesis and Deathslinger are the proof of that, their hitboxes are way smaller and they can hit stuff just fine.
They've tried before and the result was atrocious.
If they try the same thing again, the result will be the same.
-
If they try to fix her hitboxes, she won't hit anything.
It has happened before, in 2018 if I am not mistaken.

Okay, now your nostalgia has gotten too far with Swamp.
Truth be told, my friend, The Pale Rose was never that much of a burden to me. Grim Pantry was always problematic, but not anymore.
Despite their issues, they still are the maps I know from my first days of playing and that is good enough for me.

Problem was that it’s a lazy buff. It’s just a ‘buff the numbers’ affair, instead of actually reworking him like Doctor. He wasn’t designed with this massive speed increase in mind, so add ons that were strong before, are now extremely oppressive and unfun to play against. All seeing blood and the silent bell have to be replaced, he doesn’t need these OP add ons that he’s a competent killer.
They should’ve given him a reason to stay uncloaked as part of the rework, but no, it’s just a lazy buff.
A "lazy buff" is much better than a "rework" and what they did to Wraith was the right thing to do. He still is the same killer, just faster.
As for his add-ons, I suppose they could indeed see a change, but they are not game breaking like Infinite Mending Legion and Old Prayer Beads, they are just strong.
Most complaints are from people refusing to adapt and change their playstyle, as it always has been.
-
I don't, at least not anymore. Seeing my favorite maps getting turned into abominations right before my eyes made me understand Swamp's value, especially Pale Rose.
-
It has always been like that.
In 2017, a few days after Freddy's release, Monto made a video where he was going for a 4-man Devour Hope. And, in that video, he says that finding Totems "is like playing Where's Waldo, with Waldo standing in a white room by himself".
The situation still hasn't changed.

Wait...

Because the ones that asked for a Wraith buff, were killer players.
While the ones that ask for a nerf are survivor players.
Doesn´t matter what they do, one side will always be mad.
The never-ending dispute again, huh? Fair enough.
It is truly sad to think that it takes the absolute worst changes possible to unite the community.
-
People complained that Wraith was weak and add-on dependant, so the devs magically listened and buffed him. Now they complain that Wraith is OP, or too easy and needs a nerf?
Come on, people gotta stop somewhere. Why is it the one time the devs listen to us, which is rare by itself, they receive even more complaints?

It happened, it wasn't fun.
I was actually able to get up and make a sandwich while having a staring contest with the survivor
A hatch standoff, then? Those I've indeed experienced, but I never bothered that much with them.
-
Nope, they don't. Sometimes it does feel like you are bound to get specific maps when playing as or against killers, like Plague and Autohaven for me, but it is just a matter of luck.
-
To each their own, buddy.

I have seen games held hostage by survivors back before EGC. It wasn’t a big issue but it did happen.
Well, I didn't.

If Keys become basekit, then that will enable the scenario where Survivors that wish to leave at the end, have the agency to do so without starting the countdown, and those that wish to remain, can as well, so long as the Killer doesn't close the hatch.
I hadn't thought about this...
It sounds interesting.

Yeah pretty sure you will be the only one feeling this way. EGC was great for the health of the game and is much easier then hiring a team of people to go through players reports. It adds pressure and an actual end game to the game.
As for the actual thread I don't think 99%ing the gates is a bad design oversight. The killer can open the gate at any time and trigger the EGC. Also as certain killers not fully opening the gate can work against you. Can't tell you how many times I got kills from trapping the 99ed gate lever and downing the survivors that ran to open it.
Well, I've stood alone on this topic since I first voiced my opinion about it, so it is not that big of an issue.
-
There are a few maps I would like to see:
And the list goes on.
I miss them :(
-
The thing is, EGC is a bad design by itself. And I know I will stand alone on this one, but I would love if the EGC was completely removed from the game and things returned to what they originally were.
It is ludicrous to think that it is even a necessary mechanic to begin with. I personally have never seen a game being held hostage by survivors, even on my most devastating defeats as killer before EGC was introduced. And even if the problem truly was as common as perceived to be, which I sincerely doubt, was it that difficult to come up with a different solution?
Perhaps making it a highly bannable offense and hire some people to deal with those specific reports, or something. Not adding a timer at the end of the game. It does nothing other than encouraging scummy tactics and rushed actions. 99%ing Gates is merely another consequence.
-
Community: Wraith is weak and needs a buff.
BVHR: buffs Wraith.
Community: Wraith is OP and needs a nerf.
-
I started using Custom Icons not that long ago, when dealing with the current state of the game became borderline impossible. So far I haven't had any problems or EAC errors and hopefully it stays that way.
Here is a random screenshot that I happen to have. It is obvious that I've chosen the Nostalgia pack, since no player in the community is as old fashioned as I am.
If you truly want to, I would say go for it!

Pallet stunning a Spirit while she is phasing is the most satisfying accidental big brain play in existence. The few times I managed to do it were legendary to me.

I bet he was. I started playing when demogorgon came out. Old Freddy was long gene at that point.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2363283#Comment_2363283
having old Freddy must’ve been very scary back then, because you HAD NO IDEA where he is until he pulled you into the dream world. Seeing your rework of Freddy will bring that horror element back. That’ll make Freddy fun to go against.
And scary it was, my friend. DBD is currently very lacking in spookiness, but when we take its golden days into consideration (2017), Freddy and Michael were easily the scariest killers.
As he approached, you didn't hear the overwhelming sound of the Terror Radius, you heard a macabre lullaby, which thanks to its non-directional effect instantly made you wonder where he was.And suddenly, you were being pulled into the Dream World. You could see him, and he could see you.
This scary approach is one of the countless reasons why I loved him.

Hang on a second! That's just old Freddy with teleportation abilities!
You sly dog you.
Though I'd rather see that over the snares and pallets of today. Old Freddy was heaps of fun.
Ah, my friend, a perfect power does not require many changes. All I did was giving him the Dream Projection and the Incapacitated status effect.
Truth be told, he could return the exact same way he was on release and it would've been good enough for me, but after some talks with fellow Old Freddy enjoyers we've reached the conclusion that those two would be nice QoL improvements.
And yes, he was heaps of fun. Easily my all-time favorite killer, and I would do anything to have him back.
-
I actually have a concept:
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-The Nightmare’s Movement Speed Penalty for putting a survivor into the Dream Transition lasts for 1 second.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Generator Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
-For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by stack-able 20%.

This one:
-
Hardly a surprise.
They made a lot of characters look worse, got rid of Quentin's unique P3, changed a poor excuse of a killer from annoying to even more annoying, and for some mystical reason beyond our comprehension buffed Iron Will which is a perk that never required a buff to begin with.
This PTB was doomed to failure the moment those ideas were implemented.
EDIT: Oh, and I just realized that Freddy's already useless sound add-ons are even more useless now.
Nice.
-
I think Old Legion was the most hated killer. Which is perfectly fine, considering how broken and annoying that thing was.
-
Only once:
This was easily my worst day of playing DBD, and I was there right when this stupid thing dropped.
I don't even like thinking about it, but I cannot deny that I do remember my very first match with his reworked power. It was on Old Léry's, which is my favorite map, but that did little to comfort me. As the trial went by, I saw that everything I truly liked about this killer was...gone, replaced by whatever the hell Freddy's current power. Technically the trial ended with a victory, after all I did kill all 4 survivors. But it didn't feel like one.
The first and only post-game chat message I got was from an Ace, and he said to me:
"This new power is boring af".
What makes it even worse is that his words are still true.
Frankly, I don't know what stopped me from quitting that day. But, if that wasn't strong enough to make me quit, then nothing is.

I am really desperate at this point.

I used to be scared to play survivor during that time. The game was at its peak. Now adays though playing survivor feels cheap, I can run all the meta perks and just drop pallets early and never die, so I mainly play killer for 2 reasons, A because I like the role, and B because I feel like if at least 1 killer is still TRYING to keep things spicey survivor players coming into the game won't be completely bored, given the limitations of what a killer can even do. But even now adays I'm starting to feel like not even bothering with that anymore because the devs won't even try to meet halfway so you as the killer can provide even a little tension, fear, and entertainment to survivors.
The game used to feel like dressing up as a big horror villain in one of the nations best haunted houses that would send people into actual panic and fear.
Now it just feels like killer is a haunted house usher in a haunted house made for 5 year olds where the patrons casually walk by and say hi and you in your "monster suit" reach down and say hello to peoples toddlers and give them hugs and candy.....ITS BULL #########!
I agree completely.
And I also miss being scared as a survivor. Not necessarily like in the very beginning, but just the feeling of being stuck on a scary place with a bloodthirsty monster.

Ah, my friend, if only that was the reason...
I would gladly stay in Purple Ranks forever if it was a price to pay, but DCs or toxic players definitely are not the reason why it is getting harder for me to have fun.
