  • Ah yes, I had forgotten Console Players had this icon for some time.

Do you know which perk icon I miss? Saboteur

    image.png

    I liked it.

  • I would say that this is probably not happening because of Lightborn, but:

exactly, like sure killers such as ghostface and hag still give you a jump from time to time. But that's not my point, if you watch any old dbd gameplay video you can tell that the devs actually put effort into making the environment of the game sinister. But now we have bright maps with little to no fog, as well as no creepy sound effects (which can make a game 50x scarier).

I agree completely. It is something that, if I am not mistaken, I've mentioned on other threads.

Current maps are very bad when it comes to this department, especially Coldwind Farm. Honestly, 2016/2017 maps were the best ones ever and it is sad to see their current state.

As for creepy sound effects, there used to be one which I really enjoyed. I don't know its name, but you used to hear it when inside of an Exit Gate and randomly during the trial.

  • You've been playing a lot of Nemesis lately?

I salute your bravery, my friend. He is so boring to me that I can't play more than 2 trials with him.

  • And the sad part is, it hasn't been for quite some time.

Like, it is obvious that after some time the game won't be scary as it was when you started playing, but there is a difference between having a creepy and eerie aesthetic and not having it at all.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/265573/is-wraith-really-the-new-freddy

So what happened was, a certain popular survivor streamer started whining that "Wraith is the new freddy" and "he's not wholesome anymore".

So the sheep followed and simply use it as an excuse.

I'm sorry, but if a group of survivors, even solos, is getting chiefed on by a WRAITH of all killers, even with his buffs, they may as well uninstall.

Ok, I hope this isn't the actual reason. Because, if it is, then those are the most dumb complaints I've ever seen.

  • Well, you can manage to get some value if your teammates are useful, but it is not guaranteed to happen.

I believe this perk was better to use when it affected repair speed.

  • Yeah, RPD's layout absolutely sucks. Its visuals are decent, but the layout is terrible.

  • Nah, it is not a problem. It is a weak perk that almost no one uses unless they are going for memes or basement camping, and I think it should stay that way.

  • As long as I don't get otherworldly bad teammates, playing solo feels better to me.

  • Not very fun, but honestly I wasn't expecting it to be.

However, I did manage to get my Piggy to P3, which is basically the only thing I wanted to do, so:

Side question, how well do stealth perks work on Freddy? Like on the one hand when they're awake they can't see you past a certain distance so smothering your TR is very effective. On the other hand, when Survivors are asleep, they hear the lullaby instead of the TR so TR perks don't do anything.

Not so well, I would say. You can use them to catch an awake survivor, but they are not so effective anymore.

However, in the past there were a few interesting stealth options for Freddy. They worked in a very unique way, but they did work.

They seem the same to me in a lot of ways. The only benefit that comes with events is more BP per match. Either from a global double or event offerings. I did dislike the events where you only get more bp if YOU offered an event offering. On top of needing to hook survivors on special hooks or repair special gens.

Well, I think they are more fun. But that is subjective.

I wouldn't say golden age. I know people look at the past more favorably but some of those events had their own issues with the community.

Undeniably better than the ones we have today, tho. At least they were fun.

Eh, you don't need to run those Killers though. M&A + StBfL on any M1 Killer can drastically reduce the amount of hold W that happens. Sloppy + Nurses + Stealth can let you hit somebody, let them go and get the 2nd hit later on.

There are more options than just those two.

Now we are talking! At least those perks I can run on Freddy.

  • @Patrick1088 said:

@GeneralV I heard about old Doc and the different modes he had. I also heard that Snap out of it was considered healing and Nurse's calling picked it up lol

How did Lerys change from current form?

Ah, my friend, this is a sad tale for me.

Old Lery's used to be my absolute favorite map in the game. I adored its aesthetics and how unique it looked when compared to the other maps.

And now, the good memories are all I have left:

    Have you tried Blight?

Alternatively, Legion with M&A also does a good job of shutting hold W down.

It is a good advice, but having to play those killers in order to counter this poor excuse of a strategy is...bad.

Top killers say it's unbaitable when used for distance in a loop.

Are you telling me your more knowledgeable than someone like Otz (7k hours) in the game.

Please tell me your joking, or are just a troll.

If not, please reconsider some life choices.

    However:

I'm not just gonna repeat words with no backing, ill give you a fairly simple scenario.

You, as the killer, are chasing an injured survivor to an LT wall. Your just about to catch them, however due to an earlier chase you know they have DH. Now your playing wraith ( a character with a simple bait mechanic (hitting the bell)). So you can either:

    1) bait dead hard, they use it, reach the window and extend the chase

    Or

    2) don't bait dead hard, swing and they reach the window because they used it either way.

    What counterplay is there?

I'd love for you to tell me.

    Well said.

  • It is not impossible to counter, it is just really boring and unfun.

I want the loops, the mindgames, situations in which both sides can outplay each other. I wanna have fun.

Screw the "hold W meta". That should not be a thing.

The nerf failed to address his main issue, which is the fact that his power is just so damn boring.

I don't know what else will it take for BVHR to understand that his rework was never a good idea.

A friend of mine was watching some dbd streamer, can't remember who, I started watching dbd when Pig was released but never wanted to play it until a friend gifted me the game on ps4, that is when I started, raged quit for a while then came back until today.

Around the time Pig released? Wow, you've been playing for longer than I have, my friend :)

I have a favorite license and favorite original

My favorite license is Resident Evil, it was SAW for the longest time and it's still one of the best in my heart, however I love playing Nemesis and a good portion of the perks released are some of my favorite releases in a while: Eruption, Lethal Pursuer, Blast Mine, Flashbang, and Rookie Spirit.

My favorite original has to go to Cursed Legacy with Oni and Yui. It was the first chapter to release after I started playing and it was one killer of a chapter. Oni is fun and Yui has some interesting perks.

I must say, it is unexpected to see someone mention Resident Evil, especially after everything that has happened, but I do understand where you are coming from here.

I only started playing last August, so ill give 2 answers; one on my experience and then general chapters since I own most killers.

Personal: A Binding of Kin: Twins' story was so sad between Charlotte and Victor. Probably 2nd to only Spirit. Elodie seemed like an Indiana Jones and I enjoy her overall style. Perk wise I enjoy Oppression and Deception.

General: Spark of Madness. Doctor is my main and one of my favorite maps Lerys. There's no upstairs gens like in Midwich, its small enough for Jump Scare Myers to do great, and general aesthetic is creepy. Even Feng gave us Lithe which is a great exhaustion perk imo

Spark of Madness is definitely my favorite original Chapter, so I have to agree with you on that one.

Though I must say I used to like it much more than I currently do. Doctor's old power and Old Lery's are things that I miss.

I think The Halloween Chapter is a perfect adaptation of the original movie from 1978. Michael Myers has also been one of my favourite killers to watch and play, and play against. And Laurie is a great survivor to be in the game.

Fair enough. It is always nice when a licensed Chapter stays true to its franchise.

Currently, ANOES fails to do that. But on release, on release it was simply perfect.

    @BenZ0 said:

It was Darkness Among us but I also really enjoyed Oni's chapter, sanctum of wrath is a beautiful map, yui is a pretty cool survivors, especially her p3 and Oni is my main so well ofc I simp for him.

Perhaps that Chapter is not as hated as I thought it was.

Halloween is probably my favourite because I'm a Laurie Main and I love the franchise :)

Interesting Choices! If I had to make a list, I guess it would look like this:

-A Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter

    -The Saw Chapter

    -Halloween Chapter

    -Spark of Madness Chapter

  • Freddy, Myers, Pig and Hillbilly and definitely my favorite killers to go against.

How it was? My first event was Halloween 2020... 😔

The Scorching Summer BBQ was basically a summer themed version of the Howling Grounds (which was also a good event, mind you). It lasted from 7 August 2018 to 23 August 2018. The Event featured personal Challenges that required the Player to collect special Tokens in order to unlock the Cosmetic Rewards.

Those personal challenges were: Repairing "Frozen Cocktail Machine" Generators:

    image.png

And hooking Survivors on "Grill Hooks":

    image.png

The rewards were Kate's Free Song Bird Slip Dress and Billy's Pro-Pain Hammer, both of which are currently available for every player.

The event also had a unique theme:

The Winter Solstice happened on two occasions: 14 December 2017 - 4 January 2018 and 17 December 2018 - 3 January 2019. It featured a Blood Hunt, Winter Themed aesthetics and one of the best themes of all times:

Remember summer bbq? Winter solstice and the best menu music in dbd? Or the 1 time Blood Feast 3xbp event? Now we get maybe one 1.5x event per year and the grind is far bigger now than then.

Sadly I wasn't here for Scorching Summer BBQ, but by Entity I wish I had been. From what I've heard and seen it was one of the best events in Dead by Daylight's history.

But Winter Solstice? Ah, my friend, Winter Solstice is unforgettable. It was when I first started playing DBD, and that theme alone was enough to send shivers down my spine.

Old Freddy as much as I sucked using him I miss his old power so much.

So you also found it because of a friend, niiiiice, same thing here.

So do I, my friend. So do I.

I really miss my old main and would do anything to get him back, preferably his on-release version. But even if he was to return the exact same way he was prior to his rework it would be good enough for me.

He deserves another chance. Old Freddy mains deserve another chance.

And hey, nice to know that you also found it thanks to a friend! I was actually playing Friday the 13th of said friend of mine. It was actually a very boring match, so we just kept talking about some random stuff and when I asked him about game recommendations he mentioned DBD.

The good ole' days, back in November of 2018. I actually got DBD on Christmas:

Well, I didn't hate it back then because I hadn't bought it yet, but I get the feeling you are talking about :)

When I first learned about DBD's existence, thanks to a friend, I did some research and that is when I found out that Freddy was in the game. Bought it one month later.

    Mmmm hard question honestly.

But I think silent hill chapter is also amazing but just because I am a silent hill nerd so it is extremely hard to actually give my favorite answer.

Yeah, it is an amazing feeling when a franchise you already love is in the game. That is how I felt when I discovered that Freddy Krueger was a killer in DBD.

I have 2 fav chapters actually. This is reason:

Nightmare chapter! It was hard to believe but when i see i really felt excited. Freddy, one of the best slashers will join game and i love him movies. He is one of best killers. And him concept in game, gave me feels, "Yes i am playing with real devil, this is clearly Freddy!"

Curtain Call Chapter. I was not playing survivor so much and i was Meg main. But when i saw Kate with this chapter, i wanted buy for her. She was cute and her style and lore was interesting. I thought i found my main survivor and i really did. I am playing with Kate 3 years.

But i wanna talk for Halloween Chapter too. It has best trailer. Myers, Haddonfield, Laurie... Everything about this trailer gives me good feels (nostalgia). This trailer was best DbD trailer ever for me.

And I agree completely with you in here. ANOES is, by far, my favorite chapter and Curatin Call is very good too.

As for Halloween, well, I don't think there is a single soul in the community who dislikes it.

Yeah, I can imagine that was a bit of a bummer when they reworked Freddy. Would be nice if they made a brown add-on or something that would allow you to play the older version of the killer. Would not exactly cause any balance issues in this case

Don't even remind. Sadly I still remember my first match with reworked Freddy: I was disheartened and everything felt wrong. It was a victory, but it didn't feel like one.

I would do anything to get my main back.

    @Mazoobi said:

Both Binding of Kin and All-Kill.

Aside the bugs/issues Binding of Kin brought, both chapters brought interesting characters that I adore especially the twins <3

Wow...now here is some unexpected choices!

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

Halloween for me. Big fan of the movies.

I love Mikey and he's been my main as killer for over three years. No killer has as many fun builds and play styles to me as him. Vault master Myers, jump scare Myers, scream for Myers, low terror radius Myers etc. I've never got bored of him. In terms of lore in the game, Michael is such the purest form of evil that even the Entity cannot fully control. Hence why Mikey can give the middle finger to the Entity and tombstone survivors.

He brought two good perks to the game in STBFL and PWYF.

In regards to Laurie, her visual design in terms of her face has never been great, but they have recently fixed that. But even before she was always the ultimate final girl to me. Nobody deserves a place in the fog as a survivor (aside from Dweet) more than Laurie. She's the definition of a survivor in how she held her own against the boogeyman. Her perks are mostly garbage, apart from DS, which in its current form is one of the healthiest perks in the game now.

And a good choice that is! I believe the Halloween Chapter is one of the few which the entire community loves.

  • @musstang62 said:

Man, the silent hill chapter was hyped to hell and back, and it seemed to live up to all the expectations. PH was as great to play as he looked on the PTB. Brought me back to the game after I'd sworn it off for months. Cheryl was great. Midwich... I still hate it from a gameplay perspective, but outside of gameplay, it's absolutely fantastic. I'm more of an RE fan than a silent hill fan, so I'm a bit disappointed with what we got recently

Honorary mention for Cursed Legacy. All around great original chapter

Yeah, your profile picture told me everything before I even read your comment :)

I am sorry for you that the RE Chapter ended being a disappointment. And, truth be told, I kinda know how it is. A Nightmare on Elm Street on release is definitely the best for me, but nowadays its content is not that great.

While I don't use her very often, I like Yui's design. I find both Yui's and Oni's lore fascinating.

A close second would be Descend Beyond for a lot of the same reasons.

Well, it is good that you remember it fondly. Your favorite chapter should be the one who is special to you.

That was actually a good one too. The map isnt a fan favorite, but I don't mind it at all. I think Legion is actually good, just every killer has different play styles, and people don't tend to like ones that arent clear cut. Jeff is cool too, but I rarely use his perks.

Most people in the community would disagree. As I've said it isn't my favorite, but it does have a special meaning.

  • @QwQw said:

I'm sure this will be a very unpopular pick, but Darkness Among Us.

Legion was the killer that got me into the game, and Jeff is a pretty cool survivor. Ormond can go piss off, though.

Despite how unpopular it is, I can definitely understand that. This chapter has a special meaning to me, due to the fact that I first started playing DBD two weeks after its release.

  • @LittleSagey said:

Truth be told, Demise of the Faithful was indeed a good chapter. It was the first one that I actually saw on release, and I still remember how interesting my first trials against the Plague were.

  • @NomiNomad said:

    Cursed Legacy.

Oni is still my favorite killer visually and Yui is cool.

A very interesting choice, if I do say so myself. No wonder Yui is the only survivor of the newer cast that I took to P3.

  • @TaylorAmidala said:

I think the Spirit/Adam chapter was my favorite. That could also be because that was the peak of me playing and having fun in this game. Like when I was improving a lot and I decided that I was going to 50/50 Killer and Survivor. ( I was a tOxIC Nea main lol)

Shattered Bloodline, then? Well, I most certainly understand your choice here.

Sometimes, what makes a chapter good is not exactly its content, but how we were when it released. For example: Darkness Among Us is often regarded as a very bad chapter, but it a special meaning to me as I first started playing DBD two weeks after its release.
