2 vs 6 sounds a little bit better, but I would love it regardless.
-
Since Ghostface and Trickster aren't here, I would say Nemesis simply because of how boring I find him to be.

I hate Badham. It needs a re-rework.
As scared as am I of changes, I agree with this one.
In my opinion, its visuals should be closer to the OG version, its extra variations should go, and obviously its balance issues should be addressed.
Oh, and Freddy's claw marks should return. That is an important detail.

100% right, Chapel and coal tower were just perfect for both sides.
I don't remember someone saying "oh crap we are in father's chapel" that map was just perfect for both sides and whoever says otherwise we can argue but just accept the fact that you will lose.
Father chapel was one if not the best map for both sides for all killers.
I agree completely. It easily was the most balanced and fair map in the game, and it disheartening to think about what happened to it.

At least he still has the Dream Projection.
Nemesis doesn't have much going for him.

I miss old Chapel, thanks for brining back memories.
So do I, my friend. That map was so good to play on, not only for its unmatched balance, but also for its aesthetics.
Whenever you have one of those moments where you desperately want Old DBD back, talk to me. I will do my best to help:

Not again...

Amazes me how they've reworked it like two (three?) times and it's still awful
Kinda like Freddy himself
Yeah, but there is a difference.
BVHR got Freddy right on the first time.
Badham? Not to much. Not in terms of visuals or aesthetics, but in terms of balance.

Badham and HadnoFun are two maps I used to hate, but with the release of RPD, they are like heaven compared to it.
To be honest, I would say Old Badham was my third favorite map.
The visuals were good, there was only 1 version of it, and it had a very interesting detail: Freddy'c claw marks.
Now, the situation is not that good...
-
It definitely isn't considered fair.

Oh, he IS special, though. He comes with unique map filters via the dream world.
Well, yes. But he always had this.
The nerf didn't touch it, and the rework only made it worse.
-
Truth be told, I don't. I don't like the character nor the power, and if I am not mistaken I haven't played him since I got his adept back in 2019.
If I recall correctly, his chase power is way better and more important than his portals.

I almost never play against Freddy, if he is so strong why noone plays him?
Freddy dont even have powers and his addons are trash, maybe good for gen control, but he really has nothing. I dont fear Freddy at all
Because he had way too much for very little effort. The nerf didn't really change his gameplay, people simply don't use him as much anymore because his kit was watered down, and because his power is just..boring. The isn't really anything special about Freddy, other than the fact that he is freaking Freddy Krueger himself.
I still think a straight up nerf was unnecessary, and what he truly needed was a rework.
Edit: He is still stronger than Wraith tho.
-
Yeah, this kind of thing happens way too often.
Survivors are just...weird, sometimes. Even killers too.

I dont care who disagrees and who agrees. I think killer shack is not fun or interactive
But having 2 windows won't make it any better, if that is your issue with shack.
Look, I'm all in for things of the past returning, but that is simply too unbalanced to be brought back.
-
It is probably because many people play Meg as their very first survivor, so they don't really know what they are doing and unintentionally become somewhat of a hindrance to the team.
Of course, after some time this stereotype loses its value, as there are good Meg mains out there.

Freddy and Pig will always be my favorite ship.

To be honest with you, I am pretty okay with the community right now.
My mental exhaustion with DBD comes from recent changes, most of which I completely disapprove. But then again, this is extremely personal.
-
To be honest, I wouldn't mind if he got a change.
I don't think he is broken or overpowered, I just genuinely dislike killers who are strong in the 1v1 but lack any kind of map pressure.
Those types of killers are the most unfun and boring to go against, in my honest opinion.

An unsolvable problem.

So do I. But I still prefer the modern-day Dream World over the regular visuals of reworked maps, which sadly are the majority.

Yeah, sometimes I forget about it...
But that is probably because I usually do not wake up when facing Freddy. I like the Dream World.

What would you think of Freddy becoming more powerful as the trial progresses? Kind of like a tier up mechanic?
That sounds interesting to be honest.
Like, a shorter Transition after some time?

Wasn't old Freddy kind of boring too? I didn't get to play against him very much and when I did, I enjoyed it purely because nine times out of ten, facing Freddy meant an easy win. Keep in mind that I was new at the time so the 'excitement' of escaping instantly made said match 'fun' for me, even if the match in question wasn't particularly engaging. As such, I can't actually comment on whether old Freddy was engaging to face or what. Nonetheless, after evaluating his old kit, I don't quite understand why many people are adamant to see old Freddy return. Please do correct me if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly, Old Freddy's whole thing was that he had wall hacks on asleep Survivors and ridiculously high slowdown (-50% according to the wiki) on asleep Survivors, with the caveat that he had to manually put them to sleep.
Once he was actually in chase, he was just a basic Killer though right? I honestly don't understand how old Freddy was any better from a 'fun' standpoint. Both old and new Freddy are basic killers once in chase (Newer Freddy does have snares but their usefulness was lessened thanks to the recent nerf).
To be honest, having to go out of my way to find someone else to wake up or alternatively, fail a skill check, sounds very annoying to me. Especially since it would've been imperative to escape the dream to avoid the immense penalty to action speed while asleep. If old Freddy was brought back today, with people now understanding the game more as well as old Freddy's potential, I could genuinely see him being considered as 'unfun' or 'boring' to face. He mightn't necessarily win, but he could potentially slow games to a crawl if the Killer is good. I don't like new Freddy, but I don't really see how old Freddy would be any better from a 'fun' perspective. Whenever I see people ask for Old Freddy back, it often seems to stem predominantly from nostalgia. Nonetheless, I'd be happy to be proven wrong if you have the time. I know from my times on the forums that you're a Freddy connoisseur so perhaps you could help me understand?
A Freddy connoisseur? You flatter me, my friend :)
This topic is mostly based on personal opinions, so it is a little bit difficult for me to prove you wrong because of how subjective it actually is, but I can try to explain to you my point of view.
There are several reasons that, in my opinion, made Old Freddy the most fun killer to go against. The most important being his unmatched uniqueness. As @TheClownIsKing pointed out, he offered something completely different from the survivors to deal with. As he approached, you didn't hear the overwhelming sound of the Terror Radius, you heard a macabre lullaby, which thanks to its non-directional effect instantly made you wonder where he was.
And suddenly, you were being pulled into the Dream World. You could see him, and he could see you. Alternatively (post initial-nerf), you only saw him temporarily, as he faded in and out of existence. And so more questions where raised, as you began to wonder where exactly he would be once the Transitions ends, or if he is going to commit to you or not.
And finally, you are in the Dream World, which is completely different from any other trials. Here is where you are truly vulnerable, and not only to his attacks. His abilities, such as the aura reading and the slowdown were never burdens to me, they were a testament to his power. This is Freddy's world, not yours, and you have to escape. Having to find a teammate or miss a skill check are not annoyances, they are your way out.
While chases played normally against him, not every single killer needs a chase power, that would just be boring and generic. As Otz himself stated: "Freddy started as a pretty unique character that had very different strengths than the other cast". His strengths lied elsewhere, and that was so damn good!
Last not but least, Old Freddy (post-nerf) lasted from November of 2017 to July of 2019. Many people knew how to play him efficiently and had a good understanding of the game, so I don't think this would change.
Personally, I would prefer if he returned with a few changes, such as the slowdown reduced to 40% or Dream Projection being incorporated into his kit. But, even if he returned the exact same way, it still is a much better option than Mr. Generic Power that we currently have.

Old Freddy was just way more compelling and offered something WAY different for the survivors to deal with, and a legitimate, critical reason to wake up as often as possible.

I would have the same amount of dedication when Candyman or Jason comes out. I'm more towards Candyman though. That movie changed my views haha
Well, to each their own :)
The 2010 Remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street is quite possibly my all-time favorite movie, so I know where you are coming from.
Besides, I've already payed for Old Freddy anyway, back when I bought the DLC together with the base game in 2018. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Would you buy Nightmare Chapter 2 with him old powers.
You are seriously asking me if I would pay to get Old Freddy back?
-
This thread and many others prove what is already known: New Freddy is boring, uninteresting and unhealthy for the game.
He must get his old power back, preferably the on-release version.
It is the right thing to do. For the sake of Old Freddy mains, for the sake of the game, and for the entire community in general.
Take notes, devs! It is not too late.

Freddy's P3 is, by far, the best one in the game.
As for the worst, I would say any killer released after Legion.

Im working on writing a Freddy rework myself, similar to ones Ive already done, and I know you have a bit of experience with Freddy. Is there anything you recommend?
Well, I can share with you my idea for a Freddy rework, if you like:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-The Nightmare’s Movement Speed Penalty for putting a survivor into the Dream Transition lasts for 1 second.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Generator Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
-For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by stack-able 20%.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger
I also have add-ons, but that would make this post very long. Basically, it is a certain type of "mix" between his on-release power (which is different, and much better, than the Old Freddy that most of us know) and his new power.
Unfortunately I cannot test it myself, but I believe he would've been in a good spot if this change went through.

Agreed but damn Idk why I had high expectations from the community after we all get crapped on from devs >_>
Yeah, truth be told I was expecting something better too. But we must be careful with expectations, especially when it comes to DBD.
-
Precisely.
-
A recycled event, which at the very beginning barely even worked, paired with toxic players.
What could go wrong?
-
Events are capable of summoning the worst and most toxic players in the Fog, but for some reason this one has been particularly rough.
The best option is to level up your characters and ignore everything else.
-
Honestly, I have no idea what to do with this add-on, and at the same time I do.
Currently, I don't know. And truth be told, I simply don't know what to do with Freddy's current power in general.
However, in my idea for a Freddy Rework I actually thought about something for Black Box:
Black Box:
-Broken pallets are replaced by Dream Pallets
-Non-sleeping survivors cannot see or interact with Dream Pallets
“I can sleep… I just don’t want to” -Dean Russell
It is definitely not the best add-on ever, but I think something to use in a chase is nice for an Ultra Rare.
