I loved. But bugs and console issues made it bad.
But Nemesis needs some buffs, except this we had good chapter
An almost-decent killer, some okay perks, some more agro perks for bully squads to gang up on baby killers with but that don't do much in proper trials, and a map that's so huge it's the most survivor-sided map in DbD by default even without mentioning the extremely cramped conditions that nerf nearly every good killer and breed some serious W plays.
Edit: So, in other words, kinda meh but also ######### BHVR.
The perks the chapter came with are all fairly balanced but nothing game changing. Lethal pursuer will see some use but eruption is going to never be used
Blast mine is okay but I think RA is better at blocking gens off. Flash bang is decent but good killers will render it fairly useless. Bite the bullet is actually decent but IW is more versatile.
Nemesis is a worse PH imo and is pretty average
Ok perks.
Decent killer with some gimmicks that could annoying for both sides.
Visually nice map with absolutely terribad gameplay.
Another killer who is pretty much outright counters all pallets/vaults so they have to neuter him in other areas. Like the Vaccines essentially making at least 8 3 hit chases if the survivors use their vaccines. And because of the strength in a chase Nemesis has almost no map pressure, outside of RNG zombies that are either incredibly annoying for survivor or may as well not exist.
Chases as survivor are dull because if the Nemesis has a brain you're getting hit at every pallet/vault. Chases are boring for killer because all survivors can really do is cheese the 3 hit with the tentacle by holding W. He doesn't add any new counterplay outside of "just hold W and hope your teammates do gens".
The map is an absolute nightmare for both sides. Sure, survivors can also see lights on some rooms to see if a gens inside, but its such a nightmare to navigate. And there's so many unmindgameable pallets in the outside halls.
Perks on both sides were pretty fun. The Flashbang/Mines are fun. Jills healing perk can be helpful as a solo player, and Leons healing perk can be fun to play risky with.
At this point recent killers feel very shallow. They're mostly just instant chase winners that still lose because they have zero map pressure.
I think it’s mostly balanced. The thing that stands out the most for me is the map, I think it’s awful from a balance perspective (though beautifully done).
Also not a huge fan of Nemesis’ power design, another ranged killer that hits you if you drop the pallet and hits you if you don’t. Eh. I don’t think he’s particularly strong or weak, just uninspired and dull to play.
Survivor perks were fun.
Killer perks were okay.
The killer itself was a letdown.
The map is terrible.
Silent Hill was better.
Look at things from a balance POV is something that I almost never do, but I will take a wild guess here and say that it is mediocre, at best.
In terms of perks there generally okay, Hysteria could use a buff.
In terms of the map, it's bad. Map is big and confusing.
In terms of killer, Nemesis is a bit hard to determine for me mainly cause the bad performance but from what I can gather he's a bit on the weaker end so maybe a small buff would be nice.
Overall The RE chapter is pretty good if you ignore the Performance which you definitely will have a hard time ignoring especially on previous gen consoles.
Nemesis is a letdown for me from a balance perspective (and in other regards). I had hoped for him to be at the top of A tier, or even S tier, given what kind of character he is. But he isn't really problematic balance-wise either, he's comfortably B tier, so good players can consistently be successful with him in the public matchmaking environment, he isn't "weak".
Still, I think he should be notably more powerful than he is. Zombie AI definitely needs more work, most of his add-ons are painfully underwhelming and should be buffed and reworked, his active ability should at the very least get more range and ideally he would even get a secondary active ability, and he should also have more notable power-ups with the mutation tiers (for example an increase in movement speed). Being contaminated could also come with actual downsides of its own (such as a slight, constant Hindered effect).
None of the perks for the chapter had any real impact on the meta, so they are all negligible from a balance perspective, like most perks. Only Lethal Pursuer is somewhat notable, but it's not like it had a huge impact either. All of them should be buffed, but then again, tons of perks should be and that's been the case for years and years - BHVR likes their perks to be negligible, saves them balancing work I guess.
Nemesis is really cool, he just has some stupid restrictions and the zombie AI needs improving. His add-ons are ok for the most part. Iridescent Umbrella Badge is possibly the worst add-on in the game though.
Killer perks are nice. Lethal Pursuer and Eruption are pretty cool and I use them in builds.
Survivor perks are ok. Bite the Bullet and Counterforce are not game-changing but they’ll find a place in certain builds. Flashbang and Blast Mine unfortunately join Head On in the group of perks that exist only to bully the Killer. Rookie Spirit sounds nice but I’m not sure if it synergizes well with anything.
I like the map, but it needs a higher pick rate so people can learn it and a fix to hook spawns (there’s a spot where it’s impossible for the Killer to get a hook).
