Fr, Wraith is boring came up a lot too after his buff.
Strong=boring apparently
I think its more to do with the chase. Wraith is an ambusher, he hits you, leaves, and comes back. Most of the newer, stronger killers are also incredibly oppressive in a chase or can end them before they start.
This is boring to most players because the chase is usually the only actually fun part of playing survivor. Strong = boring is a cop out line people throw out when they don't understand this. Very few people complain about Nurse nowadays despite her strength. People never used to complain about Billy much either. Or Huntress outside of latency. All strong chasers.

If they force resolutions in a certain aspect ratio will break the game for people with different resolutions.
People with non 16:9 aspect ratios would essentially be forced to stretch their game.
And they can't just "force native res" for a few reasons. For one it could that create performance issues .for example I have a 1440p monitor but I prefer to play in 1080p in order to maintain 120 FPS. Additionally you can just change your monitors resolution with the use of the control panel and they have no control over that.
People using stretched for advantages isn't a new thing to dead by daylight, plenty of people do it in FPS games so that it's easier to shoot, it's not that big of an advantage.
This, its a hard thing to fix. That probably means its never going away.
-
I think they just kinda wasted a potential power. His power as it is... sure it fits him. He does infect and attack with the whip in both RE3 games. But from a dbd gameplay perspective its jus tkinda boring..
He's a barely reskinned Pyramid Head, more or less.
Funnily enough he's still more lethal in dbd then in the remake. Dodge roll turned him into a joke in that game.

Fairness is subjective.
Just like the win conditions of those 'Big Name Streamers'. Which, in all fairness (pun intended) are often ludicrously demanding.
This, entirely depends on what you want out the match.
I have a few "codes of honor" or whatever when I play killer, just to try and make the games more fun. But that's as far as I go really, I'm not going to forgive obvious screwups on the survivors end if I'm trying to win.

He’s nowhere near her level. Wraith just got the loving he deserves after so long and some Survivors are unsurprisingly refusing to adapt and just begging for nerfs instead.
I would argue that the full invisibllity combined with the speed is a little crazy. That said I don't agree with the people that think his lunge should have been nerfed.

No, just a pubstomper now.
Throw on sloppy butcher and play hit and run with the pallet breaking add on and its practically impossible to lose.

Also peopler were upset when he was added because they wanted Nancy

I don't believe that they'd just have another chapter waiting in the wings incase of a potential delay. They can barely get one made properly in time

I feel like they just need to make gatekeeper not basically a survivor emblem.

Yeah, just dont look at them. Ok. This works fine until you realize that myers and ghostface literally NEED TO LOOK AT YOU to use their powers.
I really, REALLY hope you aren't just walking up to gens out in the open as those two. That might be a bigger issue for you than Spine Chill.

I'm really tired of playing against this perk as a stealth killer, I really don't understand how it can counter the power of GF, Myers, Pig and Wraith maybe, this perk instead if I have Tinkerer or another ability that allows me to be Undetectable and Spine Chill doesn't detect me there.
You know you can just walk the the gen looking away from it right? It's very easy, especially on a stealth killer to find out of people have spine chill.
-
He is bad in the 1V4 but he's pretty strong in the chase. It's just there's several factors that make him weaker overall. I think lowering knives needed is an awful idea tbh. We'vec already seen in the PTB that he has practically no counterplay now outside "just don't get found lol".
I said this before but his design is fundamentally flawed.
You cannot make a killer who's gimmick is "throws lots of knives and maybe some of them will hit and it'll look cool" when players who are good at the game WILL make them all hit. He's a glass cannon, just buffing his numbers will make him stupidly strong in the 1v1, but keep him just as mediocre in the 1v4 (cough* Deathslinger, Pyramid, Nemesis). They're balancing killers around the idea that the killer players are bad at the killer.

And you have now in turn ruined the game for the killer and your teammates, players like you are why we want the dc penalty back.
Damn, maybe the developers of an online only game with no joins in progress should have designed some sort of failsafe system for that.... like the bots... that have been in the mobile version for a year.
All DC penalties do is punish the quitter, it does nothing for the players still in the game. So it doesn't really matter either way, people will DC regardless anyway.
-
It's still weird to me seeing so many people call Heather Cheryl. I know Heather was a fake name but in her main appearance that WAS her name.
-
Weirdly enough I'm getting more killers than survivors dcing right now. Even against solo teams. No idea whats going on there.

His lacerations are reduced to 6 knives before injuring a survivor.
He now throws knives faster, and you can keep Main Event for 30 seconds.
Main Event also now shoots knives at an insane rate.
I don't think that'll make it in. If it does it might open peoples eyes to just how stupidly strong he can be in the 1v1 vs the 4.

Why are you playing if you don't enjoy the game?
For the most part I do still enjoy the game. I just think most of the new content like killers/maps added in the last year just aren't really fun to play on or against. It feels like they're out of ideas and just phoning it in.
I don't DC as killer ever but if I get Hawkins or something against some insecure spirit with stacked slowdown I'm just going to boot up another game for the day.
-
Ugh, no. The dc penalty was the worst thing they ever added to this game.
Why make fun and interactive killers or fair maps when you can half ass it and strongarm players into staying into matches they aren't enjoying.
-
Its nowhere near as good as people claim. First off it pretty much forces you into cleansing all totems in a row whereas small game lets you do it at your own pace across the course of a match.
Also, its awful at the one thing it could be good at, finding totems on RPD/Hawkins/Game because it doesnt actually locate your first totem. Then theres the time loss from it always showing the furthest totem.
-
I had one Claudette do that to me 3 times in one match. After the 1st time I couldn't even get mad.
-
Another killer who is pretty much outright counters all pallets/vaults so they have to neuter him in other areas. Like the Vaccines essentially making at least 8 3 hit chases if the survivors use their vaccines. And because of the strength in a chase Nemesis has almost no map pressure, outside of RNG zombies that are either incredibly annoying for survivor or may as well not exist.
Chases as survivor are dull because if the Nemesis has a brain you're getting hit at every pallet/vault. Chases are boring for killer because all survivors can really do is cheese the 3 hit with the tentacle by holding W. He doesn't add any new counterplay outside of "just hold W and hope your teammates do gens".
The map is an absolute nightmare for both sides. Sure, survivors can also see lights on some rooms to see if a gens inside, but its such a nightmare to navigate. And there's so many unmindgameable pallets in the outside halls.
Perks on both sides were pretty fun. The Flashbang/Mines are fun. Jills healing perk can be helpful as a solo player, and Leons healing perk can be fun to play risky with.
At this point recent killers feel very shallow. They're mostly just instant chase winners that still lose because they have zero map pressure.
-
I have been getting pretty short survivor and relatively long killer queues recently. Not to the same degree as survivor during peak hours but decently long.
This last chapter has been pretty lame so I can see that being a problem, but also the fact that a lot of console players aren't playing right now thanks to performance issues, and they also make up the combined majority of the playerbase.
-
I can't stand it. As survivor teammates just crouch walk around the map doing nothing, as killer they run in straight lines not knowing what a pallet is or just try to juke you in the corner of the map.
Playing against good teams a lot as killer can be exhausting, but for the most part I get pretty balanced games in red ranks. MMR was a nightmare because it was just sweat squad after sweat squad and it wore me out.
You aren't missing the different level of player skill, you're nostalgic for when you were new to the game. And there were still systems and items/perks you didn't understand and maps you didnt know inside and out.

I would not mind if they bring back old Billy, but please no insta saw addons. Without those addons he was strong enough.
What do you think these people are complaining about? Overheat is annoying but it CAN be mostly removed from a common add on. He still controls identical in terms of movement and his base charge is the same.
People just want to be carried by Instasaw. All those players that were -actually- good at Billy are still playing him. Its just that very few people put the time in.
Don't get me wrong, before people jump down my throat, Overheat should NOT exist. It was complete unnecessary. But insta needed to be removed.

Nurse is multiple times level of magnitude harder. Spirit is relatively easy if you have headphones. Once you learn short phasing is a thing not even iron will can beat you.

Agreed, but the problem then becomes if you make tiles that much weaker, survivors who don't understand how to loop well(knowledge of what tiles even are, knowledge of turning tighter than the killer is able to, knowledge of when to look back, knowledge of running exhaustion perks, etc.) will be absolutely demolished by making the maps weaker. It's a very difficult problem to solve
Another problem is that a lot of newer killers outright counter pallets. So you'd be making them even stronger.
At this point in the games life I think theres just too much that'd have to be rebuilt/rethought that it'll never be fixed.

It's a simple math problem. It's why everyone universally agrees survivors are favored at the higher tiers of skill. Tell me how long you think it should take a good killer to find and down a survivor at the start of the game. Gens take 80 seconds solo to complete, if all 4 survivors are great then at the start of the game there should always be 3 gens popping by the time the first chase is completed. A map with all resources available should be able to easily be chained especially with dead hard to last at -LEAST- 50 seconds, possibly even more if there's a very strong tile in the chain. So the killer finally manages to down and hook someone and 3 gens pop, the killer is 1/12 of the way to his objective while survivors are 3/5 done. Should the killer proxy camp his hook or go wander off? If the killer does go wander off to pressure other gens the survivor on hook should be able to be saved easily and if the person saving is running some healing related perk then odds are the heal will be done very very quickly. Now let's say the killer is in their second chase, how many seconds have gone by?
No MMR coupled with secondary objectives that contribute nothing to the primary hides how broken DBD is very, very well. How many survivors load into the game with specific purposes? 'Im a chest rummage build, I'm not touching a gen until I see if theres a skeleton key in a chest'. 'I'm going to cleanse all dull totems just in case of noed'. 'I'm going to sabo/flashlight the killer'. Then there are survivor players who have no idea how to take advantage of the tools they are given, people who get hit once and then get hit again in < 5 seconds. Literally holding 'w' and doing nothing else will get you more time than that. These players slow the game down more than any gen regression perk a killer has available.
I don't think solo gen speeds are a problem, I think speed boosts aswell as survivors spawning split up near different gens are the problem. Even the best survivor in the world can't keep a chase going without pallets or vaults. Maps are the problem in chases, too many strong linked tiles.

I didn't get a single kill because I was going for 12 hooks. I hook someone I immediately leave the hook without checking and go for someone I see on BBQ. If I found a Previously hooked survivors without hooking another one, I try to ignore. Basically I meant No Sweat = Playing by the Surv rule book, Which is stupid if I look back at it now...
That's fair. I do the same. Don't like to hook the same player twice in a row, etc. But playing no sweat isn't really going for 12 hooks. 12 hooks is supposed to be an extreme exception in balanced matches. 5-8 hooks should be the average for a decently fair match without stacked slowdowns on killer or stypics and stuff on survivor
-
Eh... no.
-
I have 2 problems with it
First, if a survivor is scared off of the gen it will not regress.
Second, kicks during cooldown don't affect the perk

Red in past exhaustion recharged even when running, but whats the use now?
It's been useless ever since the exhaustion nerf. And that was a looooong time ago.
-
If you aren't able to get a single kill without slowdown at all that's a bad sign.
I don't mean to be mean, perhaps those survivors were really good and got a survivor sided map. But I really see no excuse why a killer can't secure a single kill without slowdown. Especially on Billy who is still relatively decent, with an anti loop build and bbq to optimise time.
I've been running zero regression, just Corrupt and Pursuer for early game on Nemesis and been doing decently even against pretty good teams. Some matches swing my way others don't.
I think the game is more fun without slowdown honestly, even if sweat squads can just decimate you.
-
No thanks. Don't need to make it easier for Leatherface to just chase the same person all game.

There no way you played it back then because if you did you would know SURVIVOURS COULDNT BE HIT MID VAULT ANIMATION. yes caps is annoying but it needs to be stressed how badly they messed up those hitboxes. Huntresses also is affected by her jatchet hitboxes as terrain will frequently block her own hatchets.
That and 90% of modern maps have been stealth nerfing huntress with time sinks like breakable walls and increased number of indoor and large maps. If they come back to huntress nad her hitboxes I hope they do sething about how awful she is to play in maps like hawkins lery rpd etc.
I was aware of how broken it was, it was mainly because the devs just wouldn't fix survivors. Like how a survivor can be crouched in a animation like healing or repairing gens. But their hitbox would still be standing.
It was both a buff and a nerf, allowing her to get more shots over loops and stuff. If the hitboxes weren't so ######### it would have been a great change. People moaned about the wrong part of the change. If they'd made a stink about survivor hitboxes we'd probably have a lot more fun and interesting killer right now.

Title. I like hearing opinions on this subject since it helps broaden my view of the game. Generally, what are your ideas to shorten the balance gap? Things like giving solo q more info, depriving SWF of certain elements, etc etc.
Add a pinging system and an icon that indicates what a survivor is doing by their name. genschased/totem, etc.
Home sweet home was super fun as a solo player compared to dbd simply because of that system
-
I'm probably closer to a "killer main". Tunneling is a boring playstyle that is pretty exclusively used by saltlords or players that have just resigned to losing every game

I don't know why I even try any other killer in red ranks besides spirit and nurse. It's not fun just being endlessly looped all game. I am starting to see why killers hate the loop to loop game. I see why people play nurse and spirit. Though I find both of these killers hard to learn so I will take the time to do so. Spirit and nurse is the anti loop killer.
Enjoy your basically single player game.

In the almost four years I was on Xbox one X they consistently said "optimisations are coming". The frame rate had gotten significantly worse before I moved to Pc.
I remember Doc and Demo being unplayable for me as for some reason their frame rate was in the teens.

Give it to us please.
Trash bag nemesis looks so, so bad. Not even creepy just dumb.

I'd recommend Oni or Plague. Both fun killers and decently strong/easy to understand.

Well, if the version of no way out from the PTB makes it to live then it would become impossible to buff remember me. Just imagine new no way out with old remember me on a Killer like Trapper or Pig. It would be genuinely overpowered. Keep in mind as well that you could still pair this with 2 strong perks. Yeah, remember me is likely gonna stay the same for a while.
Makes sense. But I don't think perks should be designed almost entirely to be used in tandem with other perks. It feels like it just kills potential build variety.
I completely understand that the overlap could cause problems, thats why Thano doesn't affect healing anymore, but it really makes me wonder why the perk even still exists.
I'd honestly be fine some perks coming with compromises about what perks they can be used with.

Yeah... that's not a perk thats basic gameplay. A better comparison would have been generator skill checks.

Latency is more or a problem then the hatchet hit boxes. I can tell you. Demo shreds have VERY questionable hit boxs too. But I don't hear people saying about his shred. 🤷
I imagine its because demo is rather large and even if the hit is off he is at least still close to you enough for it to be believeable.
You can have hatchets bursting into chunks around 90 degree turns in 40 ms games with Huntress.
The large hitbox on the hatchets, combined with latency can make for some absurdly unfair looking hits. Getting a hit on the very edge of a survivors hitbox will look like it was 5+ meter away on the survivors screen. That's probably why you hear more about it. It can even happen with Slinger. How many times have you seemingly been shot around a wall by him?

They are gonna end up like Blizzard if they keep doing things this way.
I mean just look at how WoW their most popular game lost a massive amount of players right after a new patch, they share similar traits, not addressing issues, being blind of player feedback, etc.
That's what happens when you're ontop. Remember how Xbox was super against crossplay on the 360 with PS3 because they were leading? Then next gen Sony was ontop and was heavily against cross play while Xbox were constantly pushing it.
If you're the king of your genre you can be arrogant and ignore feedback/get lazy.
We need a FF14 equivalent for dbd lol.

Try actually using her. And tell me just how broken her hit boxes are. I'll give you a hint. They're pretty hard to hit and very fair
"Very fair"
I drew this a while back from memory (crude, I know) when I couldn't track down the devstream where they showed off the hitbox.
But considering this is the hitbox of a hatchet before latency even comes into question is anything but fair.
Add on the fact that I regularly see insanely good Huntress players like Umbra acknowledge how unearned and questionable her hits can be sometimes and its rather clear.
I mean, 90% of huntress players don't aim at the player, they aim at slightly behind them to their back as its almost always guaranteed.

Tis the Bhvr way.
-
When you get a match without latency and her hatchets are actually fair it can be one of the most fun killers to play against. But yeah, latency makes her incredibly unfair sometimes.
They did shrink her hitbox once before but quickly reverted it. Though as someone who actually played her back then I thought it was a fair trade consdiering there was still a latency problem.
