  • It's pretty mediocre. Used it a couple of times myself but I just don't think its strong enough to jusify being a hex. Then again maybe too strong for just a passive perk.

    All she really needs is...

    1. Using fountains DOES NOT FULLY HEAL SURVIVOR, IT JUST REMOVES INFECTION.

    2. If all fountains safe corrupt, they REMAIN CORRUPT!

    3. Gens with vomit on them causes regression.

    4. Fully infected survivors can't repair gens.

2 and 3 sound good but 1 and 4 are a big no from me, personally.

  • I feel like just playing her for long enough should answer your question.

Plague isn't top tier but she isn't weak, just an unpopluar pick for killer.

  • Winning is everything for most players in those ranks. That's why you rarely see unique/fun builds.

  • @Tricksters_30thBlade said:

All survivors got to do is run in a straight line its bad for 115 but worse for 110. There's probably no fix for it but damn survivors get looping smh

You can thank the "All pallets/Vaults become hits" meta with recent killers. Survivors can't just loop anymore as its free hits for the killer. This is all they can do, because stealth isn't viable much anymore.

Say what you want about looping, at least there was some actual interaction.

  • In the hands of an optimal looper it can be infuriating but I don't think its OP.

Honestly, its hated because it isn't used for its purpsoe. Its clearly suppoed so be used to eat hits during chases and rescue attempts but 90% of players use it for a speed boost at loops. I wouldn't mind seeing a version with the speed boost removed honestly. Just a second or second and a half of invulnerability with a clear visual effect.

  • Most likely, but dbd isnt canon to RE

  • They said a while ago that they were rebuilding the perk to function better with dedicated servers and lead to less "exhausted on ground" situations. Could be testing out a new version or something.

Iv played against him alot, but they're slow and get stuck on everything if I do see them but I hardly actually notice them in a match. Kinda disappointing when it's meant to be a resident evil chapter

For every time they get stuck theres a time they run towards a gen from a mile away and just won't leave. It goes both ways. I've had multiple games where a zombie has blocked shack window or god bus window for me for multiple chases and basically handed me a win.

    They're glass cannons.

  • Nope, say what I'll said in the other threads.

They -are- helping you even if they aren't getting hits. They detect players on gens and force them off from quite a distance and can be incredibly obnoxious with Ruin and Surveillance.

Just because they aren't getting you hits it does in no way mean they arent helping you.

  • I'm convinced people that say this have not actually played against nemesis. They can be incredibly onboxious, especially with detection distance and speed add ons.

It's just that you, the nemesis, will not be aware of the additional map pressure they're giving you unless you hear a hit notification.

  • I'd rather they fix the actual problem and not just slap another band aid on it.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

I do not think any killer needs a full rework.

I do however think that some killers need some serious buffs:

Trapper, legion, pig, ghostface, myers, clown, trickster and my favorite, nemesis, come to mind

I feel like Trickster and Nemesis are killers who will teeter on making chases extremely short and nigh unwinnable for survivors if buffed in their current form. They need reworks imo. Though I think reducing vaccines to 2 or something would be better than removing the speed boost on infection he currently has.

The rest I agree with. Micheals is long overdue.

  • I don't have much of a problem with people playing Spirit, its the actual killer power that I think is unhealthy. That's on the devs. Can't blame the players for just enjoying it and using it.

That said I stopped playing her after she became more popular and I realised how awful she is to play against.

Twins players on the other hand deserve the hate.

I’ve never ran this perk before but I see it often in my matches paired with ruin. I’m currently leveling up blight for the perk.

For those of you that use undying what’s your opinion and do you sometimes pair it with another hex totem other than ruin??

If you can pressure correctly its good with Ruin. While it does work with other hex perks now its not incredible with them.

It's basically just a distraction perk, if a player is focused on taking down your totems it won't help, but a random player just accidentally happening across your ruin is what its good for.

    @nursewannabe said:

Terrible perk, don't run it. If you run ruin + undying you have a 50% chance of them cleansing ruin first, and undying after.

Run haunted grounds instead: you have only a 33% chance of them cleansing ruin first

    😎

Hasn't worked like that since the rework, undying is cleansed first 100% of the time now.

  • While I have very little respect for good Nurse players who just pubstomp solo teams a good Nurse is all that can really counter a good, organised gen focused SWF.

She needs to exist at that level and she's already had one kinda unnecessary nerf in recent memory.

All they ever needed to do was remove multi blinks imo.

  • @Phasmamain said:

They are definitely OP but brain dead is definitely a stretch

I hesitate to call her OP even though a good nurse is an instant loss for 99/100 teams. But they're probably the only killer that takes more mechanical skill than just pointing in all of DBD.

I don't like the killer because of how she straight up overrides mechanics but I can respect a good nurse.

  • Recolor of 4 year outfits

    POGGERS

  • It wouldn't be very fair on the people who bought it on previous gen. And considering how bad this game ran on the xbox one X or PS4 Pro its not a hardware issue. It's a dev issue.

Do you think an indication of wether she's phasing not where she's phasing would butcher her kit?

Unfortunately yes, Spirit is strong because she gives no feedback, there's no real room for counterplay, you just guess and hope the killer isn't very smart. She's strong like how Nurse is strong because she ignores mechanics that other killers are forced to play around.

On the other hand those 2 being the strongest I think says a lot about dbd chase/map design.

I absolutely don't care about "unique" when new Freddy is also unique. Wonderful teleport, synergy with meta perks, better power than Clown.

"Killers fundamentals and map control" lmao Oh this is one of those people who think M1 Killer tricks that will always fail if countered correctly are "mindgames".

What endgame builds? lmao Remember Me stacks? That's easy to do.

He also has the better abilities in the game and iirc, is still good. Remember Me is also irrelevant to Freddy, other than being a teachable.

Barely. He's a marginally better Clown, with a teleport that is only useful because pop goes the weasel exists. And much like Clown, pretty much every chase plays the same.

Not sure what the second paragraph is about. Sounds like you aren't very good at picking and choosing your chases or locking down a section of the map.

Yeah, sometimes your love for the character is what keeps you playing. I still remember my first match with reworked Freddy. I was disheartened and everything felt wrong.

It was a victory, but it did not feel like one. And the first post-game chat message I got was an Ace claiming that Freddy's new power was "boring af". I couldn't agree more.

I am pretty sure I've said this countless times, but I really want my main back.

I was happy at the idea of him being stronger but he just felt very uninspired to me. It feels like the dream world was forgotten about until the last minute in the rework and just hamfisted in.

Including old Freddy as an add on or something would be cool. I highly doubt we'll see another full rework considering how long the first took. And going by recent killers it'd be even more dull. We're probably stuck with this version for good.

The suggested rework I posted addresses these problems

Just finished reading it. Pretty good.

Honestly all I want is for her to be more dynamic like other killers. Right now playing Spirit feels like playing a single player game, I've played her maybe once this year because I just find her so dull.

It's a shame you can't really discuss it on here without people going "REEEEEEEE BUT THE 1% SWF/YOU JUST WANNA NERF HER".

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2337199#Comment_2337199

To be honest, I know how that is. If it wasn't for my love for the character himself, I would've dropped as soon as his rework released.

True, I'm only playing PH/Nem/Freddy because I enjoy playing as the character. I find the powers very boring. If Freddy was an original character I'd probably have not touched him in years. Regardless of tiers.

  • Right. The problem is that she becomes either trash or god tier thanks to minor tweaks to her sounds. It's just a bad gameplay concept for a power.

The fact that IW or Stridor being in play have such a huge impact on her matches is ridicolous.

And the complete lack of actual interaction between her and survivors combined with the one-sided guessing game makes chases very dull and not very satisfying to play.

Is it just me, or does nearly all of them run Franklin's for so reason? I swear 9 out of 10 Doctors run it.

I do if I see 4 items just to troll. He doesn't really need many perks in regards to chases thanks to his shock. Bamboozle/End/Fury are all kinda pointless. So outside of 1 or 2 slowdown perks I just run meme perks on him.

  • @OopsAllHexes said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/263814/god-current-freddy-is-depressing

Seems that GeneralV has alts now. Same ideas ("assets from old Freddy", toggling between old and new Freddy, same words used ("skill", "unique")

Don't really care if you liked getting bullied every game tbh, old Freddy ALSO got destroyed by anyone with a brain. Have you forgotten how people would pick Survivors up right in front of Freddy? How there was absolutely no fear of him? How he didn't have a single chase power and was a loop-able M1 Killer?

What am I saying? Of course you don't remember. No one who says this remembers old Freddy. Or at least, they've forgotten the videos of it.

Do I have to pull out that Noob3 video of old Freddy again, to remind everyone of rank 20s bullying a awful Killer?

Can't wait for someone (GeneralV) to go "but Freddy took SKILLL" yeah, matches against old Freddy lasted a few minutes because old Freddy sucked or 20 minutes because nobody can do gens.

Nobody likes 10 minute chases with nothing being completed. Even the people who loop for 5 gens get frustrated when no gens are popping.

"Would be the end of the world" Actually, yes, it would, because old Freddy was unfun to play against for everyone, unfun to play AS by the majority, and a minority group on the forums who despises change and wants to waste dev resources should not have their way.

I mained old Freddy for two years. He sucked ass but he was unique, and he was a good test on a killers fundamentals and map control. He was the only killer that could have crazy endgame builds thanks to the 50% dream slowdown. It made him unique.

Now he's just a bland, slightly above average mix of multiple M1 killers. Even worse, they nerfed remember me and made it useless. :(

  • Learn red stain mindgames, learn how to play tiles. Know when to drop a chase. Those are the big 3 to me.

  • @Altarf said:

He just feels so... bland, now. So generic and artificial. Despite the reworked Freddy being a downgrade in almost every area except viability, I could at least play reworked Freddy and get some enjoyment from how stupidly easy it was to use his ten thousand powers. Now, though, he's kinda got the same feeling as nu-Billy. Clunky power, useless add-ons, a general feeling of weakness against any team with a brain; except, with Billy, at least there's the fun factor of sprints and chainsaw downs.

There's no skill expression to the reworked Freddy, and certainly no skill expression to current Freddy. His new power, with the sole exception of Dream Projection, is genuinely one of the biggest gripes I have with this game. Old Freddy, like him or not, was undoubtedly one of the most unique killers this game has ever had, and the fact new Freddy is still the only option is so depressing. What's fun about current Freddy, for either side? When was the last time you even SAW current Freddy?

BHVR clearly still have assets from Old Freddy, as seen by the re-using of the ripple effect when hitting a survivor with immunity from an Alarm Clock; would it really be the end of the world to include a toggle to switch back to old Freddy, or an offering, or add-on, or something? It's not like old Freddy had any problems besides being weak, like old Doctor. I'd literally pay the cost of a killer again to play as him. It's like if they reworked Hag or Nurse into a generic 4.6m/s killer with a really diluted power. What do you guys think?

He's just as strong as he was before in my eyes, with the downside of not being able to branlessly spam snares at every loop you pass to shut them down before a chase even begins.

Still incredibly boring, don't get me wrong old Freddy was very basic and bland but at least the dream gimmick felt like it made sense.

I used to main old Freddy, I get zero fun or joy out of reworked freddy. He feels brainless and lacking in challenge.

Want to stomp some solo queues or mediocre swfs? Play Freddy

  • Its good but most players don't want to use a perk like that despite its strength. There's also the potential to just not get use out of it if hit out in the open or on a open map.

  • Most games that I lose as solo (and theres a LOT) are lost because one player makes a blatantly stupid play that screws us all over.

Most of the time DS would have made no difference in those situations.

Haha yeah that sounds amazing, if you would what other powers do the predators have, I haven't seen any of the movies

He's more of a stealth/hunter type of character. Active camo/Wrist blades/Shoulder turret. Now that I think about it maybe Wraith was somewhat inspired by him in the whole "ambush" style of play he has.

  • Predator would be cool.

I had an idea where he could lock on and charge his shoulder gun mid chase, shooting it would slow you but charging wouldn't, so you could mindgame at a loop, pretend you're going for the shot and when the survivor ducks lunge them. I think it could be pretty fun.

Of course they'd have to give him a wraith like cloak, maybe one that can track survivors by heat siganiture.

  • @Phasmamain said:

The map makes midwich look like good design. I’ll eat the 5 minute penalty every time tbh

This. Once the novelty of "omg I'm chasing/being chased through the RPG as Leon/Nemesis" wore off its just another painful map to get a 5 minute CD on.

Same with Midwich, incredible recreation coming from a fan but a complete chore to play on.

  • I see a lot of people calling them useless but the amount of times they've chased someone off a gen or been at the loop I'm at and I can either bait the survivor into them or get the hit easier is crazy. I've had some of them just stay near almost complete gens and scare the players away or block shack/god bus window. It's probably a (I forget the term) where you simply aren't remembering how often they actually work out for you. Like how you're 3 times more likely to remember when they were useless then when they were useful.

They are very rng heavy but thats kind of the point isn't it? He's still a 115 Killer with a (relatively) decent power. He doesn't really even need them, they're just a fun bonus.

  • It's kinda funny because they've taken massive liberties of moving rooms/adding doors and breaking walls and it still just doesn't work for DBD style gameplay. It's awesome as an RE2 fan but I probably will just DC if I ever get it as killer after the PTB.

  • I've only ever liked corrupt on set up killers.

  • @Meg_Survivor said:

The most boring killers to play against for me as a main survivor is....Hillbilly, Doctor, Trapper, Huntress, Cannibal, Pig, Legion, Wraith.

Fun Killers: Nurse, Michael Myers, Hag, Freddy, Clown, Spirit, Plague, Ghost Face, Demogorgon, Oni, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Blight, Twins, Trickster, Nemesis.

Fun? Mobilty based killers for the most part. Any stealth killer that isnt Glitchedface.

Boring? Any killer that is just "pallet = free hit" but doesn't actually add any new forms of gameplay for survivors to play around.

  • @ryseterion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2330950#Comment_2330950

The problem is that when you hit a survivor they speed up when you infect them.

That is a time consuming aspect, but I think that if he were able to damage right out of the gate it'd be a bit too wild. I think removing or lowering vaccinnes is the way to go for a buff.

He's already pretty boring to play against as he's just another "hold W cause pallets are a free hit lol" killer so I'm apprehensive about nerfing the hold W aspect.

  • How would you buff him? Removing the 1st hit would make him overwhelmingly strong imo. The actual cooldown on hits is also fine. Honestly I'd just reduce base Vaccinnes to 2.

  • @papabear2009 said:

Since I'm a trickster main that can land 6 knives easily, I'm quite happy.

This. I implore anyone who thinks this buff didn't go far enough to spend a week playing Trickster. In the grand scheme, especially on dense/large maps, he's incredibly weak. But have you ever played against a team on a map like Blood Lodge where they get almost no tiles in the middle?

Every chase becomes an instant win becuase its not hard at all to hit with the knives, the recoil may as well not exist and the travel time combined with the knife count is crazy in that situation. I think just numbers buffing him would lead to him becoming even more hated then Spirit.

He's a weak killer that isn't fun to play against, because he either gets a bad map for him and one survivor runs him all game, or he's downing in 6 second making the one fun part of dbd incredibly boring.

You can't make Trickster "viable" with numbers buffs. He'd need a complete power overhaul or you'd just get insta DCs because he simply isn't challenging or enjoyable to play against.

  • I liked zooming aboot and mashing m1 on old Legion. Dont play them after the move speed change

  • Didn't fix him being incredibly boring and lacking in counterplay if you get a map with lots of low walls. Still not going to see him all game if theres tons of high walls, either. Yawn

  • @Aquamarine said:

Do you realise how few bp and emblem points survivors get if you ignore them and try to kill everyone on their first hooks at egc? You had a plan, sure, and that was trying to make a miserable game for your opponents. Cant really complain about flashbang at that point

  • @Schardon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2318662#Comment_2318662

Well except for Billy, what killers are you enjoying to play against?

Thing is most killers that stand a real chance against good players are hated by survivors. I haven't really seen may killers which survivors don't complain about whether it's them being too strong or "not fun playing against".

Most killers survivors don't complain about are the bottom of the bottom tier like Myers. Wraith used to be one of those but the buff he got pretty much escalated him from not being spoken about to "omg nerf right now it's super duper mega deluxe unfun".

I still find huntress, Billy, Leatherface all fun to play against. And those are all killers with chase focused powers. Demo too if it isnt one of those boring portal gen defense types of Demos. I still find Oni by far the scariest to play against despite his weak early game. Just feels like every killer since Deathslinger has been a real chore to enjoy games against

I think my hatred of newer chase based killers is the ability to hit over pallets or just make them downright unsafe. It doesn't make for a fun match when thats your main defense. If they added new mechanics for them I wouldn't mind. But I find them too easy to play in chases and boring to play against in them.

  • I think its more that prestiging used to kinda mean something, now with the prevalence of way better cosmetics, some even free, its lost its reason to exist.

  • @Schardon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2318377#Comment_2318377

I think that's partially due to peoples preferences though.

Sure, it's hard to come up with new ideas for killer powers but afaik most people really dislike "setup killers" like trapper and hag. Survivors also hate hit'n'run killers, see Wraith.

Survivors want to get chased because that's the fun of DbD for most survivors. You rarely get chased by a hag or a wraith though because their chase potential is rather weak and their strong side is to catch survivors off guard.

So the devs are pretty much stuck with the "Strong chase power killer". Anything else wouldn't be liked by survivors and maybe also killers.

Look at how people react over the slightest changes in gameplay, recently seen with Nemesis. "AI who helps the killer? Ermagerd, remove it!"

Even though I think that BHVR really lacks in multiple departments, I also think that the "boring killer design as of late" is not due to the lack of creativity but more due to the lack of acceptance of changes from their player base.

The problem isn't a lack of wanting to change. It's just that the change is bad/boring. Chases against killers like Billy, for example, will always be fun. The new killers chaser powers just make chases boring with inevitable hits regardless of killer/survivor skill really.

At least thats why I find them boring.

Almost every killer since Oni feels like they've been designed around "one sided" fun. I enjoy playing as most of them but my god, they make me want to never play survivor again.

  • @Northener1907 said:

Survivors are genrushing because that is safe way to win.

And killers are tunnelling because that is safe way to win.

Because modern DbD is supporting fast games. This is reason everyone trying to finish their objective as possibly as fast.

But this is boring. Because when you are genrushing, killer has not time to play and get points. And when killer is tunnelling, survivor has not time to play and get points. And both are not fun and so boring.

This game design is bad and faulty.

This. We know the game was never intended to be played at a high/sweaty level. The devs themselves have said it.

Because it wasn't designed around it a lot of these issues would be nigh impossible to actually fix without reworking basic game mechanics and how chases function at a ground level. And I can't see that ever happening anytime soon. If they were nipped in the bud before they released 4 years worth of updates it could have been fixed.

  • Personally I find any killer that removes counterplay without adding anything new or new mechanics to be extremely boring and uninspired. Luckily those are in the minority for now.

1 2 3 4 5 … 70
