The downside of that is making killers stronger in the 1 V 1 which leads to killers like Spirit or Deathslinger where a survivors skill takes a backseat. That isn't fun either, because it feels like the devs saying your skill shouldn't matter.

The real problem is that a 1v1 is seen as synonymous with "chase". There's more that goes into a 1v1.

Killers like Billy have always been considered the most fun for a reason. Shame BHVr gutted him

I've been here since launch and I can guarantee you there is no killer that hasn't been complained about. The Hillbilly in particular was complained about a lot before his nerf.

Oh I remember complaining about Billy when I very first started but once you get some experience you realise he's probably the most fun, fair killer they ever added.

There's certain killers where when you hear a complaint you can just tell the person is new and doesn't know how to play yet. Usually worth disregarding those opinions.

If you make killers stronger in the 1v1, there's a higher chance you won't have to sit on generators the whole trial, because they'll actually have the time to chase you. You'll also be able to perform hook rescues and heals and other stuff more often.

  • While I hate tunnelling/camping, its literally the only way to close out a kill if you play red ranks without slowdown and are using a mid to low tier killer. Unless you're nurse but y'know nurse.

I actually got 7 hooks on haddonfield and somehow that wasn't even a safety pip because lolnoslowdown.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

Ah yes a strong killer that takes three M2s to down someone.

Is this the part where we just ignore his power at tiles once infected? Yeah, the hit 3 times thing really hurts him, but once he has it you are effectively screwed. It isn't very interactive or exciting to be told "Oh you want to beat Nemesis? Just hold Shift W and hope to god your teammates are doing gens".

  • I gave him a fair shot. He's atrociously weak on anything but a map with large empty space. Even then he's worse than Huntress

  • @KateMain86 said:

Nemesis feels more balanced than many other killers which may be the reason why some killer mains don't like him as much. He's not your typical instant down end the match fast killer. You actually have to play him and gain power. Besides all that, he's Nemesis. Playing against him is super fun (as long as its not a toxic person controlling it).

That's a weird take because once your infected any tile is an instant win, at least when I've been playing. I'm finding him kind of dull for that reason.

  • @Ink_Eyes said:

It's basically another pyramid head with 2 zombie npc's ''helping you'' so if you already played pyramid head a lot playing with nemesis won't amuse you much..

True, and I got bored of PP in the first month. :(

Information of what the survivors are doing would be great! an icon of a gen letting people know they are on a gen, a running icon if in a chase, a chest icon if on a chest, a totem icon if working on a totem, then a walking icon if not interacting with anything/not in a chase at the moment. That would help so much so people can figure out what to do during most situations.

I've said this a few times before, but if they just lifted the pinging system from Home Sweet Home solo would be genuinly enjoyable to play again.

  • @unsafepallet said:

I like this chapter a lot but when it comes to the killer it really just feels like they held back too much while designing him. Like for example they added zombies but there's only two, his power can break pallets but he needs to get to mutation level 2 first, his power takes 3 hits to down and etc..

Visually he barely changes throughout mutation levels which is just :/ considering his mutations in re3 and the remake. Also some of his animations are kinda weird, and his Mori is kinda generic.

Finally, regarding his perks, hysteria and lethal pursuer are pretty good but eruption takes a lot of effort for very little reward.

Overall just feels like they could've done a lot better with him and I hope they try to redo him.

I've been using Eruption a bit and yeah, it leave a lot to be desired. I think the regression just isnt worth wasting time kicking gens. It's a shame his hand is the only part that mutates and not his whole arm/neck like in the game. Hysteria is like mindbreaker, you have no idea if you're actually getting value out of it so I hate it already.

In regards to needing levels, yeah it can be rough without add ons, but when he's at level 3 and people are infected he's incredibly powerful at tiles. Obviously Shift + W is a problem but that applies to every killer, even Nurse. That's just a deep rooted problem in dbd. I feel like thats the only thing balancing him out right now.

If they got rid of the infection speed hit I think he'd be way too overbearing, especially for solo players who can't rely on their teammates to be on gens when they need to be. Because as of right now thats his only real counterplay. Wasting time with the infection hit and hoping you got lucky with teammates.

Maybe removing Vaccinnes but keeping the speed boost, or reducing it to only 3-4 spawn would feel more fair then removing the boost.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2296210#Comment_2296210

Deathslinger is very boring to go against and has a devastating 1v1, but he's very weak everywhere else. Which leads to counter play which is just waste his time.

I really hate that. It's going to be the same with Nemesis I think. Just hope the other 3 players gen rush because chases will be super short and near unwinnable.

I find it weird when people that play those killers defend them then complain about genrush and swf. It's so lacking in self awareness.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

Spirit. I can name counters to the killers you listed. But, Spirit is hope she guesses wrong.

Pretty much. Spirit is hope they don't know what they're doing and Slinger is hope they can't aim. I really dislike this trend of "killers that only lose if the player is actively bad" and survivor skill doesn't really feel involved at all.

This isn't a single player game BHVr stop pls

  • The fact that Nem doesn't have that wack ass movement while readying his power makes him more enjoyable to play alone.

    Also what this guy said

    @Zokenay said:

Reducing or downright removing the speed boost from his first tentacle hit would be good but... gotta take in mind, he is can be really oppressive on chases, making pallets and windows heavily unsafe.

I feel his power is more like: use it when you can guarantee the hit, rather than use it all the time, when it comes to the first hit, if you can just fist the survivor, just do it, dont give them a free boost from the Tentacle.

If someone isnt infected i would mainly use the tentacle on pallet drops or window vaults, specially high ones like the ones in Haddonfield, since they wont get the benefit of the speed boost like that.

Right now the counter of wasting as much time as possible with the infection hit is really his only counterplay. He -decimates- at loops, epsecially when he gets that deceptively large extra meter in level 3. If he was like that out the gate I genuinly think he'd become a problem. I don't think he's OP but I worry that any buffs, at least for now will lead to a Deathslinger 2.0 situation.

  • @NAERUUU said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2296071#Comment_2296071

The oppression have already this system, if everyone had this information, that's op

Yes but when you try to bring everyone to a similar level you'll have an easier time accounting for killer and perk balance. Buffing solo would help killers too in the long term.

  • @Soulpaw said:

buff solo que by giving them a minor form of communication. that way swf and solo can be on similar power level and then they can buff killers to compensate for it if needed.

I think a start would be giving every player a small icon next to them that lets you know when they're being chased. That alone would be a huge buff to solos and give them valuable info that SWF already gets. Then killers can be tuned to the fact that now most survivors can optimise their time properly.

    Also kindred basekit goddamn

  • @van9684 said:

That way everyone can participate and get a chance to enjoy the game? Right now I know most matches are killers getting 4K games, especially outside red ranks. How can devs balance the game more for casual players (those with jobs and families), while still making the hand fun for all? 2 kills and 2 escapes was what the devs stated was their goal but I’m not seeing that in games current state. Any fun ideas?

They've said that in a "perfectly balanced match" that should be the outcome. But with how RNG reliant pallet/tile spawns are, and how impactful and important perks are, its hard to have a perfectly balanced match.

  • The majority of your matches are you playing against the best known survivor team in the world?

  • I don't really know how you could to be honest. I see people say "increase amount of gens" and stuff, but how are they supposed to differentiate swfs just playing to have fun and not take it seriously and tryhard genrusher seal team 6 squads?

If you just buff killers then you ruin solo queue further (which as stats have shown time and time again make up the vast majority of survivors).

I mean, he is a threat. You just have to be a hyper competent clown main for him to be one.

Not... really. Even if you're the best Clown in the world, that's a relatively low bar. His skill ceiling is just very low. A competent team of players will just drop the safe pallets early and run down your bottles while the other 3 bang out gens.

  • @BingBongMan said:

More often than after, I saw some clowns before his rework. Essentially none after his rework.

I guess most of them migrated to the forums.

I always liked Clown but dropped him after that laughable "buff". I lost all faith in him ever becoming even the slightest threat.

I still see a decent number of Freddies.

As a Survivor Main i have a good tipp: Give me a reason to use the serum ?! It is much easier to ignore the T-virus effect and just go on with gens or other things. The negative effect is just not good enough and you have saved much more time as a survivor. You don't need to search for the vaccine boxes and waste your time. Sure Nemesis comes then possibly faster on T-3 but this ability is not so strong at the momend and i think that´s good for us. Any other Tipps vs Nemesis ? Let me know.

I'll give you a reason to use the serum.

A free Hold W to literally waste 20 seconds of Nemesis chase time that he cannot counter at all.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm not getting away with extra loops because I can press E. I'm intentionally greeding because I can. I don't understand why so many people think there's no intent behind pathing. Take away Dead Hard and I drop the pallet sooner. You still don't get a hit.

I think he's talking about how a survivor can make a blatant, huge error at a tile or near a hook and correct it by just pressing E. Reusable too. Not Dead Hard for distance, that's a whole other problem.

I regularly outplay a survivor with a red stain mindgame and they panic dead hard right into a pallet drop or something. Feels kind of unfair.

Why do you spend time playing this game? Have you actually thought about how much lifetime you have spent running, killing, hooking, repairing, healing, saving, escaping, winning, losing, feeling nothingness, feeling arrogance, feeling anger, feeling relief. Is it pleasant?

What's so pleasant about it? Do you feel satisfied when you fulfill the in-game goals while can't carry the weight of real life requirements? Do you need any sort of fulfillment? Emotional one? Is the life dull? Social one? Is the life lonely? Do you want to feel special at least somewhere? Do you want people to notice you, be happy around you, be angry because of you? Do you wish being meaningful in someone else's life? Do you wish to be meaningful?

Is it why you play this game for too much? Do you know why do you play? Do you even enjoy the time you spend on it? Ten hours, hundreds, thousand hours. Is it addiction? What lacks out there that you need it in this illusion of reality?

    ...

Do you even want to answer this?

The game used to be fun and exciting with every new release. Now they're average at best. I just play it out of habit.

    Title.

So much complains about camping and tunnelling. But noone talks about killer problems. Genrush for example. So many times killers are losing 2 or 3 gens in early game. And that makes game so sweaty for them. Survivors complaining about tunneller killers makes game so sweat but they are also makes games sweat for killers because of genrush.

Even Nurse can be defeat by genrush. So why this is not problem? How can killer try 12 hooks with this genrush problem?

Why is every single one of your threads [killer good survivor bad]? Both playstyles are boring, this has been said a hundred billion times on here.

  • There is no end to the self fellating killer posts on these forums. I've had good and bad experiences on both sides.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

For me... it is less offten.

Not as often anymore. I had to stop playing him after a few years ( I wasn't very good) because his headbob starting making me sick.

It's a shame as I still consider a genuinly good curve Billy one of the scariest, most adrenaline pumping killers to play against. Good Billies still exist but no one even wants to learn him anymore because of overheat.

Nemesis just feels like a worse Pyramid Head with a different much weaker and RNG reliant gimmick.

At least the perks (mainly Blast Mine,Flashbang and Lethal Persuer) are fun to use.

I'd put them both on the same level personally, with Pyramid having the upper hand on denying perks and being able to go for ranged hits sooner.

The perks this chapter are a lot of fun for both sides, I agree. Very rare to see.

But yeah it just feels like they saw the tentacle and knew they could just replicate a slightly tweaked PP. Which is a shame as SH2 and RE are two of my all times favorite games and the antags from both games got very uninspired power designs.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/259721/anyone-else-finding-nem-just-kinda-boring

Yeah I decided he’s not for me.

And from the survivor perspective I absolutely hate Lethal Pursuer so damn much. It’s an obnoxious perk.

I wonder if it will kickstart a lot of the more inexperienced survivors to just do the tried and true "hold W". People will probably catch on to it soon, at least the smarter players. At that point you basically remove the perk from play for the rest of the match. It's like Lightborn. Technically the killer picking that perk is just a win for survivors.

  • @Phasmamain said:

I find the whole chapter boring tbh. The new map sucks, The perks are okay and the killer is very similar to PH

That's the thing, I knew the map would be a nightmare and probably insta DC on live when I'm blight or something. But I was LOVING chasing Jill on that map in the PTB, again, probably the "OMG im in the RPD" aspect. I dunno. I know a lot of people are having fun. It could just be burnout.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

First of all, "the stats" are highly unreliable, and more of a novelty.

Second, hardly anyone who regulars these forums believes the game is biased towards a particular side. There are some exceptions, but those are balanced out by coming for and from both sides of the spectrum.

I've never seen such a neutral, non biased post on this forum get so many upvotes. Are people finally waking up?

Agree wholeheartedly btw. I think people that watch their favorite streamers who play the game for a living then get upset they aren't as good are also in a similar spot.

  • @van9684 said:

A 4K for the killer across ranks? The stats show the majority of games are in favor of the killer, and that over 70% are 4k rounds. How can people say the game is at all survivor biased when the data shows otherwise?

Because the game isn't balanced for solos anymore. Yet somehow they also arent commiting to balancing for SWF. So we're in this weird limbo of solo being incredibly weak but swf still being stupid strong.

  • He's very strong at loops but the infection hit is the main problem.

But if you remove the infection hit you have a killer that would most likely be incredibly strong, not Nurse tier but as far as most killers go.

I'm not sure how you'd fix it. Right now a decent Nemesis' only counterplay is waste -as much time as possible- with that first infection hit. I already said in another thread, maybe removing Vaccines so he only needs to infect once in the first chase with each player, but I feel like zombies would need to go if that were a thing. Right now they can be really obnoxious with chasing people off gens and blocking tight corridors.

  • Pretty much any killer but Trickster can do well against solo players.

  • @Zacharry100 said:

He feels like a weaker pyramid head and his whip (on ps4 lags when trying to hit survivor so it is unusable) he need some small buffs.

Still better than trickster at the very least.

I'm already seeing some hate and I think I see why. He reminds me a lot of old Legion in a "you WILL go down, it just might take a while" way.

Like, if the Nemesis isn't a complete moron they aren't missing those tentacle swips and are hitting at every pallet or window. And that's really boring for survivor and not too enjoyable as killer either.

I see people want the infection boost gone but if you do that you just have a "genrush the killer because you're going down in 20 seconds" killer again.

Maybe just remove Vaccinnes and keep that very first infection hit.

  • @CoalTower said:

God damn it this is so annoying

I can't play a match with the stupid charm without everyone trying to farm with me. Like, farming is the most boring thing you could possibly do in this game. I just want to have a normal match for Christs sake!

I've had to stop wearing it, and dodge lobbies when people have it just to have fun games.

For the people who are doing this, I get that you're trying to be supportive, but no one is wearing this to farm. No one is wearing this as a free escape card. Just play normally!

Sorry about the angry post but this is frustrating.

The only survivors that get to live are the cute, bumbling level 15 Fengs that have somehow stumbled into my lobby.

  • @Shroompy said:

Majority of the playerbase is solo q survivors and with killers running around running strong meta builds, the odds are heavily stacked against them

This. Game is in a weird state right now where the game is no longer balanced for solos but SWF still turns it into a joke.

  • I'll play him more simply because Pyramid heads power is incredibly boring and doesn't suit him at all. People only played PP to override DS. And DS is dead now. I've seen 2 Pyramids since the DS nerf.

  • At least the Leon one got a longer fringe....

But yeah, no reason these are linked outside of a last minute realisation by the devs.

  • I gave him a genuine chance after the buffs on PC and I just can't see a reality where this killer is even decent. To win against anyone with a brain you just have to get lucky with a map with loads of low walls or dead zones.

  • At this point I think every map should be fixed. the randomness is a leftover relic from the early days of 3/4 maps total.

And its not fair that some matches will have max pallets all over the map and others will have massive deadzones.

  • @TruffleTurtle said:

While I'm not an "indoor map lover", I enjoy being on most of them except for lerys. Once people learn the tiles it will be better. In my opinion, as long as there are many ways to go up and down (like on midwich) it'll be fine. Saying it's poorly designed just because you don't like it isn't exactly fair

I would actually say from playing it a bit in the PTB that there need to try and be accurate and not change too much has actively made it a bad map for gameplay. Extremely safe unmindgameable pallets, strong loops that lead into a gauranteed safe vault, etc.

  • @KayK99 said:

    https://youtu.be/XPcalv5EcFs

The map is way too much of a maze in my opinion.

I had a blast on it as Nemesis/Leon in the PTB but I think that was just me fanboying out over it actually being a good map. It's probably gonna be an instaquit for me with most killers like Hawkins.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2284872#Comment_2284872

Yeah its not like Blight received SEVERAL QoL changes or anything...

PTB blight was a mess but only because of collision. I didn't hate the POV thing but I'm not against it being changed. Once he was working as intended he was great and anyone with a brain saw the potential.

This forum is just full of reactionaries. Remember how power struggle was going to "destroy killer forever"? When was the last time you saw Power Struggle?

  • @TicTac said:

I see all this threads about tinkerer, dead hard, noed, even bbq. But imo they are all fine. What we need right now is buffing weak perks, not nerfing stronger ones.

Noed is a little exception bc it feels annoying if a facecamping killer gets one kill more, but its not op and when the killer played the match to win and not to facecamp from the start its a deserved powerboost imo.

But back to the point. DS, Object, Undying etc were perks which really deserved a nerf and the time spend for it was worth it. No perk right now is similar to them. So bhvr ressources could be really used for more important things like monstrous shrine and co for example.

There's ones that are just objectively better but I don't think theres anything OP now that unbreakable/DS combo is nerfed.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

    Nah. He's pretty solid.

This. Just like when Blight came out, I forgot how many seemingly straight up bad killers there are on here. He's not mind blowing or going to be the new meta killer, but he'll carry a half decent killer through 95% of their public games.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

So how would you buff The Legion? Comment down below!

I'd rework them entirely. There's no numbers bump you can give them that will improve their incredibly bland and boring playstyle.

Players will still just split up and win.

News flash: Equipping Spine Chill does not make you invulnerable against stealth killers, I have been exposed by many Ghostfaces and Michaels despite the fact that I always run Spine Chill. Just because I know the killer is coming towards me, does not mean that I know where they are.

This. It's pretty easy to tell if someone has Spine Chill if theres no other way except for swf that they could see you coming. At that point just leave and walk towards the gen looking to the side or something.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I mean, nothing new. It is known that those tournament squads can only be beaten by a really good Spirit or Nurse. So its not something groundbreaking.

DBD will never be balanced around those teams and it should never be balanced around those teams. You cannot balance for Top 1%-Players and ignore 99% of the playerbase. If we start to balance around Top Level-Survivors and Top-Killer players, most of the people in this game will have a miserable experience.

And it is a casual game, after all. Umbra once talked about it in her Stream and she is surely one of the best Killers in this game. And she also was not really into the idea to balance around the Top Level (apparently the same was done with Deathgarden, which lead to the game dying, but I cannot confirm it myself since I did not play it).

However, quite "interesting" that tru3 did such an experiment, but he did not do the 1v1s, because the game is a 1v4. While playing against Oracle is a 1v4, it is as far away from Public Matches as 1v1s against Spirit is. And tru3 did not want to test something here, he did not want to test if Wraith can compete against those teams - tru3 is not stupid at all, he knew from the start it will not be possible.

But I think he wants to give his opinion with that, but dont want to show that Spirit is indeed problematic, which is the reason he refuses to do 1v1s.

Overall, the experiment is mildly interesting. It does not show anything new and it certainly should not be a factor to take into consideration when balancing this game.

I don't know a single content creator sans tru3 that actually wants this game balanced around the top level. Most of them seem well aware it would be an awful idea. Same with the mmr
