Does Lightborn counter it? I havent even played new content yet cause I had massive update on PS5 last night, but I will dive in today
Yes, lightborn removes the flash. At least in the PTB. That said I don't think OP wants to have to run it every game.
Hopefully the devs see this and add an option to make the screen go black or something.

In the right hands do you think he could get to nurse tier or wouikd that be pushing it
Oh good lord no. Nurse is as strong as she is because she outright invalidates pretty much every chase mechanic survivors have, and isn't constrained by map design. Nurse is pretty much only limited by the players skill.
Nemesis clears pallets relatively quickly once level 2 and can get hits over them but he's still limited in the same way most killers are. I think he'll end up ranked relatively high though. Maybe around Demogorgon's level.
-
He does kinda feel like another pallet = free hit killer, but I think its balanced out with the need to hit 3 times overall to actually get the down out of it. I don't think he's OP by any means but he feels like another "counterplay is just hope the killer is bad" killer. Again I don't think he's OP despite that. He seems relatively balanced.
I enjoyed him a ton in the PTB but haven't played him in Live yet. So far I'm just repping Leon's RE4 jacket.

While I do agree there is a difference between a really good team and an actual bully squad, there are still teams who specifically go out of their way to make the game Hell for the killer (my example I gave is absolutely a bully squad; a group of survivors who goes out of their way to make the killer experience as miserable as humanly possible).
They might not be as effective as they used to be but that doesn't mean they no longer exist.
Oh, I agree. But I think the actually good players who do that are few and far between. A lot of the survivors I know who are really high level know the game is a joke at that level and don't taunt or mock killers.
Most bully squads or wannabe bully squads I see tend to be really, really bad at the game.

I think thats why I cant take most complaints on here seriously.

I just noticed that the character info pages for all three new characters are like, a single paragraph.
On top of that, its not even creative. Jill goes into a drafty room and then gets narnia'd, Leon literally has the same backstory as Nancy and Steve (Checked out a lab, got fogged), and Nemesis just blinked after fighting Jill.
Even Executioner and Cheryl had multiple paragraphs and SOME amount of effort.
My Sophmore year English teacher would be so disappointed in you, Devs. You make me sad.
Probably Capcom's decision.

Trust me, I 1000% get it and it saddens me to see people defending bully squad actions.
Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do about it except take it on the chin and try to adapt. Yesterday I had a bully squad like that (three people with head-on forcing chases to each other and flashbangs so the times I did catch them, they would make me drop them). Bully squads are just a unfortunate reality (then these same clowns come to the forum wondering why their queue times are so bad) in this game.
The only reason I even won was I've experienced these people before (so I've gotten good at baiting the head-on even though this stupid game is wonky about it at times) and they were more interested in making my life hell rather than doing gens.
Keep your head up and try not to let it get to you (and as the broken keyboards of mine can attest, that's far easier said than done). Take breaks and try your best not to let it eat at you.
Good luck OP. Hopefully you can break past this. The game absolutely can be a blast but it can be really tough to dig through the garbage to get to the diamonds.
Personally I don't like the term because I think its used by inexperienced killers to deflect blame of a loss. "I played perfect, I made no mistakes, its unfair" etc.
It is completely possible for a good killer to get a team that is so good on a map that is so strong for survivor to not have a possible win, but I don't believe that's the case here.
Don't get me wrong strong, unfairly so, SWF teams exist, but "Bully sqauds" stopped being a thing imo after instablinds were removed.
THOSE were bully squads. 0.3 second blinds that made hooking impossible, blinds at every pallet constantly or even mid chase, etc.

So.. whats the problem? If you don't care about winning or hooks just use the power and have fun. I'd consider Nem one of the easiest to use killers in the game so I don't get your complaint.
Not trying to be a dick as others are implying I just don't understand your complaint.

I understand their frustration. They want to play DBD, not another game.
I get that, but the challenge of facing other players is part of the game. And as someone closing in on 5 years, I very rarely get "bully squads" anymore if at all, though that will most likely change with that awful MMR system. Chances are OP just needs to improve a bit as killer.
I can guarantee you aren't being bullied every game, you're just making mistakes and paying for it. Look up some guides for killer.

Blast mine honestly just seems pretty great. Leons flashbangs can get saves once you get the timing down but it'll be VERY hard to get a save on a smart killer thanks to the tiny window to drop it in range and in time.

Mr. X is just a punch guy. Nemesis is basically Mr. X but with further mutations. It was more clear with original Nemesis skin though.
On top of that, Mr. X in the original RE2 was just.... meh, you quickly forget him. He has a lot more screen time in the remake.
Not to mention his mutation isn't a tentacle. He's more akin to the RE1 Tyrant with the claw.

Late 2019/most of 2020 made it very hard to like this game. I thought all chapters outside of Blight were trash from a gameplay/fun standpoint.
Slinger, Twins and PP all coming out in close proximity and being probably the least fun you could ever have as survivor, and also being pretty dull to play was starting to slowly drive me away.
New chapter is the most excited I've been for new content in a few years so I'm hopeful again.

So when you play FD perk, they can still lose it from their hand and "lose chargers overtime" but they can still use it to open it, right? Well, that was the only counterplay Killer had to delete key from a game? I don't know why they suddenly changed this perk. I thought it was in a good spot allready.
Franklins never made it to its full duration anyway unless you specifically camped. It was basically just a troll perk in my experience. Destroying a survivors item by camping them out of spite.
If it's changed so it instantly starts draining upon drop at a reasonable degree I might actually start using it against 4 item teams.

Black Heart and Barbs Glasses were probably the only Add Ons you saw since they buffed Demo. They also only nerfed those two and buffed other Add Ons, the goal is most likely to get more variety.
Given how easy it was to have those to Add Ons every game, it is fair to nerf them.
True, only ones I've been using. Barb's glasses basically make him Leatherface that can break a pallet from 10 meters away.
Though I think that speaks more to the quality of his other add ons. I thought Whistle was one of the worst yet they also nerfed that.

I've never seen anyone run Distortion in all my time I've played DBD. I don't see Lethal Pursuer being meta unless they give it an additional effect.
True, I think the reason you don't see it now is that most killers only use BBQ as an aura perk which means you'll lose all your tokens relatively early.
But if you had the chance to potentially waste a killers entire perk slot 5 seconds in, I can see it being pretty unfair. Granted, that can also happen with Hex perks right now thanks to finicky spawns, but that risk is part of their design. If picking a perk with such a limited use like Pursuer, you should get its value regardless imo.
-
@ShinobuSK said:
7 seconds of use is not worth of a perk slot, doesn't matter if it helps you get into chase sooner. Any slowdown perk is stronger
I got a decent level of use out of it as Nemesis in the PTB and can see it being extremely good on killers that need to gain power early like Oni and Shape. I get the feeling that it will probably become pretty common on kiilers like Nurse and Spirit that don't even really need slowdown.

The problem is that by taking this attitude not only do you lose out on the "win" but also lose out on bloodpoints. you loose in every conceivable way possible and gain nothing for your efforts.
I'm not saying you don't have to try, just accept that its not the end of the world if you get outplayed and lose.
I used to take it so seriously and get genuinly pissed off when I lost, even if it was because of my own mistakes.
I think a lot of killers, myself included until recently, have a habit of getting too "into it" when playing. Like making an obvious mistake that the survivor capitalises on then getting angry about it because they feel like they deserve the win every match for some reason.
-
You can also just stop taking it so seriously. Worked for me. I'm actually enjoying killer again. Outside of some problems I have with the game as a whole when I stopped focusing on getting at least a 3K every game and just went with the flow killer became chill for me again.
Not saying you can't play to win, but considering there's no real win/loss state just set your own goals for a match.

- Survivors staying at 0% recovery while dying
Which do you prefer?
On a serious note, that's why I play killer because solo queue is literally painstaking sometimes.
Pretty much why I run Windows of Opportunity and Kindred exclusively nowadays. Sometimes Kindred helps.
Sucks having to waste half my build on perks that are free info for swf, meanwhile they can have more info than any perk could ever give me aswell as room for 4 meta perks or whatever they want. Still waiting on those solo buffs bhvr.

@Maperson said:
If anything they need a buff, they feel way to punishing for everything they do.
They need an overhaul. Their encouraged playstyle just isn't healthy. It's pretty much the only killer in the game that I think actively promotes "one sided fun" with that boring ass slugging and proxy camping playstyle.
They clearly know there's a problem because they (for some godforsaken reason) decided that instead of fixing it they'd just punish Victor for actually landing hits. If a killer has a design problem you don't fix it by punishing people who play well.
-
@nursewannabe said:
I like it, and I also believe WGLF needs more ways of getting stacks. Picking up a slugged survivors should grant one. Right now it's simply not good enough and it promotes hook rushing
I've never quite understood why people get so triggered about the comparison of BBQ and WGLF. Survivors already get considerably less BP on average. And with WGLF they actually have to compete with eachother for stacks.
Meanwhile BBQ rewards you for.... the way you're supposed to play by default. At least that WGLF has another use now. Though I find it weird they gave it a revive bonus but don't give a token for a full revive or something.
-
Just like Nurse, all Billy really needed was an add on nerf. I don't know why the devs obssessively change things people are perfectly OK with.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
It would never work because if you pit top killers versus top survivors, the survivors will win nine times out of ten.
It's always been an issue with this game and it's something I doubt will ever be fixed. There are a LOT of little tricks and strategies that survivors can use that make them incredibly difficult to take down. You can't really tone those tricks and strategies down though because newer survivors need them to survive but seasoned survivors who know all the exploits can make even the best of killers look like a fool.
It would likely work really well at the low levels and even mid levels but once you get to the top levels, killers would bleed from the game (even more than they currently do) as it would be nothing but frustration and sadness for them.
This. If anything this MMR system will show how blatantly imbalanced the base design of the game is. Yes, Nurse and to a lesser degree Spirit counteract this, but only because they completely override the mechanics every other killer must respect.
When you give pro survivor players the exact same amount of tools you give beginners, and those players are experienced enough to exploit those resources to the maximum, this game falls apart and 95% of the killer roster becomes completely unusuable, regardless of the skill of the actual killer player.
To answer OPs question I think MMR is a trainwreck. Don't get me wrong I like a good tough match every so often to really test my skills and get the adrenaline pumping, but if it were every game I'd probably stop playing killer period.
I've said in other threads in the past that I wanted this, I thought I did. I'll admit that I was wrong. I still prefer a tough match over an easy one but almost tournament level 4 mans on comms every game against me, a players who find lower tier killers more fun, is not enjoyable in the slightest.
I don't need to win to have fun but a completely hopeless match where every survivor knows your every move with a crappy map offering every other game is not enjoyable at all.

I just simply don't understand people who complain about the nerf they did to Hillbilly a long time ago.
He is a Killer with mobility of 4.6 m/s (or in other terms, 115% speed), he had a chainsaw that he could use it infinitely to move at high speed around the map (which makes him one of the best killers with mobility on the map), he could use it infinitely to oneshot survivors (which greatly shortens chases), he could use tricks like fast spin on some loops, etc.
He was a killer with many things and without any "but" that prevented her from using his power. That together with the instasaw addons made him one of the best killers in the game.
And we are not talking about a giant change or giant nerfs as happened to the old Freddy, to the Hillbilly base kit they have only added an overheat that makes him unable to use his chainsaw infinitely. Otz putting Hillbilly on Tier C makes me think he's doing it for being "mad" at the nerf rather than Hillbilly's current state. He even said that Hillbilly before the nerf entered the top 3 of best killers.
My only complaint about the current Hillbilly would be its addons, which the vast majority (if not all) are crap.
TL;DR: Basically I would like someone to explain to me why, SUPPOSEDLY, Hillbilly has gone from being one of the best killers in the game to being a Tier C killer because of an overheat mechanic. I just don't get it.
He has a lot of utility, yes. But he also has very basic counterplay. Windows? Power gone, M1 killer. Pallets? About as good as getting rid of them as Demo or Leather, doesn't outright invalidate them like a few killers.
No add ons Billy was always kinda bad against good players. Insta saw needed to be removed as it was a complete joke but the Overheat mechanic and the hilariously bad add on rework was unnecessary.
It just screams of the devs saying "See guys? We do still make changes!"
He wasn't "incredible" unless you were against absolute potatoes.

Knock Out. Do you really want Victor to have Knock Out?
Also, Exposed perks should only count for basic attacks, obviously. Aside from that I am fine with this change. BHVR are eventually going to nerf STBFL by removing the special attacks not losing stacks part, so that part of this change is manageable.
Victor doesn't function with perks at all. I'd assume he'd stay that way.

To copy my point from GoodBoyKaru, I think it would be way better to have synergy with many perks than just 1. I'm honestly a bit sick of STBFL because there doesn't seem to be any reason not to run it on certain killers. And I find it makes the perk boring after a certain number of games.
STBFL is a perk I use quite a lot and began to feel kinda naked without. But it is kind of boring to actually use. There's a lot of perks that I want to use but the limitations of extremely long cooldowns or M1 only requirements make them non viable. I kinda of wish they'd do away with them in a PTB just to see if it would be a big deal or not.
Surge would probably be decent enough if they got rid of the cooldown and limitations. I wouldn't mind using it. But most killers I use have M2 attacks so its pointless.

She only becomes uncounterable if the person playing her has had thousands of hours of practise and plays perfectly. At that point I'd say they deserve to win since you'll only ever encounter players like that in the single digits.
With this in mind, do you think that making a killer like Blight also have his power count as Basic Attacks is fair?
Its a weird one for sure. There's a lot of killer perks that I feel become instantly non-viable on half the roster thanks to this limitation. Surge is a perfect example. Imagine if you snipe someone with Huntress and break multiple gens from 32M from the down, for example.
I think it'd open more potentially viable perk builds for certain killers.
It's funny that you bring up that Nurse can use all these perks when she has by far the strongest power in the game, yet the reason they don't let certain killers use them is "cUs bAlAncE". Would it really be the end of the world if Demo could proc Sloppy on his Shred? No, probably not.
But then theres the trade off of they'd probably make a perk like STBFL count every attack including powers and thus the perk would become worse on certain killers.
