  • My policy is to play the game as normal. No quarter asked, none given.

I don't give a crap about the cosmetics, and I don't give a crap if you get them. You want them? Earn them honestly - period.

Prey on a Margarita machine is still prey to be thrown on a hook, with or without a grill.

This and pretty much every other unmoderated game community.

It's almost like the cancer of politics has seeped into everything.

  • Calling an ad-on an exploit then comparing it to a legit bug is kinda petty and silly, don't you think?

Great - now I get to get more salt for playing the game properly and not letting people farm.

Let them cry their salty tears. If they don't like it they can go play something else and let the more mature people enjoy the event.

During the tail end of the Lunar event, I had a survivor team derp so hard, I had 3 of them destroyed before a single generator got done. The last survivor wanted to farm a lunar generator, but i refused.

So this last survivor thought it would be cute to "punish" me by stealthing the map for 15 minutes and not doing generators. (Grim Pantry, and I don't run Whispers on The Pig)

When I finally found him, I paid him back by downing them then doing slow Pig T-Bags on them while they bled out for 4 minutes.

I agree with you, OP. Stealth perks should be able to be stand-alone perks and not be bound to other perks to be viable. This would be a decent buff to the perk and would make it really usefull. A lot of other stealth perks could use a re-up.

In the right maze tile, it's actually good on it's own.

Problem is, they're up against meta-perks like SC, DS, ect. Perks that arguably need to be nerfed so that decent perks like this one can be considered.

    The perk is fine.

    LOL, killer main detected

Actually, I play survivor as much as I play killer these days, but nice try to dismiss my opinion with an ad hominim attack.

Do you have an actual counter-point other than this logical fallacy?

  • I don't see how it's a big deal myself, I'm rarely past Bloodlust 1 myself Shrug

  • As an aside when playing killer - if somebody rescues in my presence, but at least makes an effort to block me from tunneling their teammate, I'm usually inclined (unless I need the momentum from the tunnel) to go after the rescuer since they had the stones to risk their skin for their teammate. They deserve the points in my book.

You can play as a team, or you can play aa a lone survivor. But playing solo doesnt mean you have to play scummy and ruin the others gameplay.

These changes are great, seeing there are so many thinking like you.

How is leaving you on the hook to die, while I sit on the Hatch more fun then , me unhooking you and perhaps you get away and I end up on the hook?

One way ensures you die, and the other gives a chance for survival.

Because taking away the incentive to risk interaction with the hooked person, makes just camping the hatch and waiting for you to struggle out much more appealing.

Hook farming rewards the killer though, where as hatch camping robs the killer.

What is it you are after?

My point is, if I'm waiting on the Hatch. The possibility of getting more points to unhook in danger might bring me to at least try and rescue. Where as if they punish for unsuccessful attempts.. why even try. I'll just wait it out and take the sure thing.

We aren't talking Killers here, we are talking the hooked survivors chance of surviving. A hatch camp makes sure the other survivor dies, while an attempt at least has a chance of being successful.

So why should you try? Is it wrong you are discouraged from trying in this instance if you can't make a safe unhook?

I'm not seeing what the problem is.

The other survivors might like a chance at surviving instead of a for sure death on hook.

I'm beginning to think you don't want to think this out for yourself.

If a Killer is patrolling a hook. And I'm now punished for unsuccessful saves, there is no reason to come and try the save. End result Survivor dies and Killer gets his one Kill. And Hatch camper gets their reward. A mostly boring end.

If I have an incentive to try and unhook, the following happens. Hooked Survivor gets a chance at surviving, and the Killer gets another chance at scoring more points. Whether its downing the unhooked or the unhooker. End result more points for some of the people involved. This is ideal because it is anything but boring.

Actually, I've thought this through completely as piss poor saves are a pet peeve of mine when I play survivor. I'm referring to people who make saves then run off without helping me lose the killer. You still have the option of making the save, you just have to be willing to risk your own skin for it. Remember, you only have to keep your teammate on their feet for TEN SECONDS to not get punished for the unsafe save. Either take responsibility for your saves or don't even try.

If you are not willing to risk your own skin, you don't deserve the save. And as the person on the hook, I would greatly prefer it if you don't even try as you are just wasting my time. And frankly, I think most people feel the same way.

If you aren't good enough to hold the killer off your teammate for 10 seconds, you don't deserve the rank, the points, or the WGLF stacks - so don't even bother. Frankly, getting downed immediately by hook farming pisses me off more than getting left behind.

  • None of them are actually useless, we just have perks that are more useful in more situations.

Many of the so-called "useless" perks are actually good to use if you are going for a specific build. Not everybody is into that though.

A LOT of them could be made better though. Beast of Prey and Surveillance come to mind.

  • it's about what I expected.

This whole "trying to bring solo survivors up to SWF" thing has been going on for months, and it's par for the course.

I support it because it will give them more room to buff the killers further.

Right now, the game is in a wierd spot where organized teams destroy killers but it's decently close to balanced when everybody is solo and not communicating. They really don't have room to buff the killers more until they even out the two sides further.

This has been going on since the Wraith was thrown a bone last year.

It's an easy trap to fall into - to always blame the other guy.

When I'm broadcasting, I try to balance this out by indicating what I should of done differently or where I screwed up. "I made a mistake, and this was the mistake I made"

It's only human to want to deflect blame. All you can do is be aware of it in yourself and try to work against that impulse.

Thank you for your comment :) As stated above I do not say every streamer does it, there are a lot of great streamers I love to watch who reflect their gameplay. I'd like to watch your stream soon, is your twitch name the same?

Yes. But as you will see, my schedule is brutally short (Sun through Tues from 11:30 PM EST on) and I don't always play DBD.

I'm happy for it, as it means i can punish bad unhooks even harder now as killer.

So you are just out to teach lessons? Or are you just happy to find another way to rob survivors of points and their own way to play?

PLAY MY WAY OR GET SMACKED!!!!

This is the problem with society on a whole, we are to willing to have people restrict what we can and can't do.

I support survivors to play however they want, and I also support having Killers punish those behaviours if that's how they want to play. But I do not think that the devs should be REMOVING points for anything.

Emblems scores reductions are fine , but actions in the game that award BP's are just that awards. I risked an action to get the points. The Killer could have just as easily downed me. I risked the behaviour and I should get the award for it.

Maybe they should be giving the unhooked/rehooked survivor a BP award for being farmed?

I'm out to train people to make the right decisions. If the killer is camping , then I do generators or GTFO. If somebody is getting hook farmed, then I will down the guy getting farmed to rob their benevolence so they learn not to do that behavior anymore. If they lose their WGLF stacks and bloodpoints too, that will hit that lesson home even harder.

I understand as much as you do (and it's refreshing to see this) that survivor play in this game is a balance between looking after your own selfish interests as much as it is a team game. HOWEVER, this is a GAME and not a real simulation, so certain things needs to be done in the name of the game's overall fun.

Where the game allows you to play selfish/scummy vs playing altruistically is making the decision to unhook in the first place. THAT'S IT.

Getting hook farmed is unhealthy for the game and needs to go because of all the negative attitudes it creates. And Fenrir knows this game has too much negativity as it is.

Honestly I just had to leave people using that perk because they tend to be easier target.

It's a lot more beneficial for me to go after the bigger fish before look for a guppy.

Even guppy's can do generators. But to each their own.

  • I don't treat No-Mither any different from anybody else. If I see them, they're prey. The End.

  • I'm happy for it, as it means i can punish bad unhooks even harder now as killer.

  • Great - now I get to get more salt for playing the game properly and not letting people farm.

  • I swear to Fenrir, half this community has selective hearing.

These nerfs to Bloodlust have been talked about for a very long time because it's not being used as they intended.

Also, keep in mind they waited till AFTER they removed pallet vacuum (which isn't coming back) before moving forward with this.

They've been talking about those Bloodlust changes for a very long time actually - long before the review bomb. And the trap buffering was in the game before and was never really that big of a deal.

And getting a cooldown from exhaustion when hooked makes sense to me.

    I think you are overreacting.

That's not what this is about. It's about the fact that survivors got nerfed, review bombed the game and are now gonna get rewarded with buffs in the next patch while killer players have always been acting properly and they are getting nerfed. ######### bs

Except most of what you mentioned has been talked about in the past BEFORE the review bomb.

  • Just goes to show that survivors will slit their own wrists and say it's the killer's fault.

You made a gamble, it paid off. Good on you!

  • When I start up Twitch and want to watch DbD, I look for the following streamers in this order

    TheEntityLeftHand
    Admiral Bahroo
    Tru3Talent

If I don't see those 3, I'll usually check out some of the smaller streams like Diana, Moonie, ect...

That's assuming I'm not streaming it myself, usually on Sun-Tues

  • I've been camped - but I'm never mad that the killer camped.

I'm usually angry at the teammates not taking the time to do the gens.

As much as I enjoy lefty streams from time to time, I really hate it when he pulls off such a standoff....

Most of us regulars get into it. going on the second hour now and most of us are joking and laughing.

  • Aye, but there's been an increase in the number of them because of the movie. I'm finding it tiresome myself ><

  • It's getting nerfed, it's just a matter of time.

Same with SC. In fact, they have a nerf for both in the pipes right now, they're just fine-tuning their ideas.

  • Meanwhile - Lefty is in another standoff, this one going on 30-45 minutes and counting

Far gate is open, she has sprint burst, she knows where it is as she's in chat... but still greeding for the hatch.....

  • I still want a trap Hex - if the survivor cleanses the Hex, all survivors lose a perk

  • Tinkerer is not necessary, just run Monitor and Abuse

You'll still able to slap them from outside your terror radius.

But the new Tinkerer is an interesting take on the classic and has merit.

  • What if.... what if Save the Best didn't affect run speed, but instead the speed of the killer's next pallet break? What if the token gave you a massive boost to pallet breaks?

  • Brutal Strength's nerf was actually pretty small. Yes, I know it went from 40% to 20%, but the pallet break speed is faster now, so it only translates to a 0.28 second longer break time than it used to be. BUT.... we now have faster window vaults as well and more tools than we used to back then.

I'm not even sure why BS is coming into the conversation. Especially when anybody with half a brain knows how broken the machine gun build was.

  • Are you sure the music belongs to the composer and it wasn't a "work for hire" situation? In a work for hire situation, music done for a project such as a movie or a game would belong to whoever owns the right to the movie or game.

  • You can't use playtime/devotion.

I learned a long time ago while putting 15k games into World of Tanks that most people will fail their way through many hours and battles. While play time may be a good indicator of general game knowledge, it's not a good indicator of skill. Ranking system, for all it's flaws, is still the superior system we have.

  • I'm going to have to chime in and say that Hag is likely the second or third best killer in game (Nurse is still Queen). Some people would put her at second best over Hillbilly, but personally I think Hillbilly's map pressure is still superior. At any rate, I think she's better than the clown as her mobility and map pressure are far superior to his.

Yes, I know she's slower than the clown, but her traps teleport range and ability to put them down so fast is making up for it big time.

  • From one smalltime streamer to another, do yourself a favor and take the TTV out of your name if your using it.

My life got 5X easier in this game when I took it off while playing survivor.

There are a lot of people who dislike streamers in this community for various petty and stupid reasons. If you play this to advertise your stream, you're in the wrong game - go find something else.

Not being rude - just telling the truth of the situation.

  • Hah, killer played smart. Good!

Cant' say the same for the survivors though.

  • You didn't happen to be Myers, were you?

  • Coulrophobia only seems good if you are running a specific addin build that includes healing debufs. Even then, it's dependence on your Terror radius seems problematic.

  • @Global said:

Dang i thought Doc would be in a lower tier because of calm spirit which is main reason why i wouldnt try playing him.

Doc has far more tools in his belt other than the screams. Even if they don't scream, you are still raising their madness and giving them the screwed up skill checks.

My own doc build is the same as the guy above except I don't use Pop Goes the Weasel and use Nurses Calling instead. (Nurses lets me keep the pressure on those I've wounded as I can shock them through walls to interrupt the process. Additionally, it will show me survivors who are trying to snap out of tier 3 madness)

  • As a Doc, I don't mind this perk one bit. Any doc that has problems with Calm Spirit needs to just git gud

    Doc is far from weak.

  • GG when it's one-sided is kinda rude TBH

If I feel the other side got obliterated, I won't GG unless they GG first. If they were big enough sports to say it despite their loss, I'll respect that and return it.

  • You can remove hook vacuum the day we can hook from any direction... just like unhooks

    Fair?

  • I don't use DS. It's on Laurie, but that's about it.

I generally favor information-gathering over chase perks. Stuff link Bond, Empathy, Open Handed, Premonition, ect.

I prefer to avoid an confrontation than do the Scooby Do chase bullshit.

  • An opponent exists to be crushed.

    The End

  • That's okay, it took me P1 level 40 before i saw SC on my Nea. So that Streetwise came in handy for all the medkits I had to bring in.

  • Before you guys get carried away, keep in mind they said it was just an idea they were spitballing. They haven't given us any indication they will actually do this. It may end up on the cutting room floor in the end.
