I predict 80% of red ranks will use NOED

You think we are actually going to retain as many Killers that we once had? But I agree NOED will increase.

  • I've decided to just take a break from Killer. BHVR seems to want it that way.

But I am looking forward to watching the new Killer play method, I'm willing to bet its no fun for either Killers nor Survivors.

  • They keep making survivor game play easier and easier. All survivors have to do to reach Red Ranks is play.

    Yet another "reeeeemuhruinpost"

I read the first sentence and stopped immediately. I have good confidence that not one of the "observations" are nuanced or unique. Just hackneyed diatribe bolstering the bias you had before adding your post to the pile of rubbish.

Nothing like hearing from the misinformed. But I am going to take a page from your book, and immediately just assume every one of your posts/responses, has no useful information in it and just not read it.

  • It is a legit strat, and if the other 3 players do what they are supposed to do when someone is face camped (i.e. the generators), the devs will see that while a single person is on the hook, 3 generators can be completed.

Both giving the data about gen speed and punishing the camper.

Sounds like a win , win to me.

I play both sides at high ranks and rarely get frustrated on either side, I’m also playing without ruin or noed currently (preparing for the nerf) I still manage to get 3/4ks consistently and have fun, I really don’t get the fuss.

Your experiences are awesome, glad you do not find anything wrong, but your experiences are not the norm. Many find Red Rank Killer games more of a chore then an enjoyment.

So yeah if you don't find it fun then don't play it .... right. But unfortunately , there are few Killers who see the game the same way you do, and if they all quit if search of more fun things to do, is there going to be enough Killers left to make this game anything but a lobby simulator?

    Lol take pride in it...

So you can sit there slugged while someone gets sweaty, gets the ez kills with NOED then stands there nodding and hitting on hook and post game tells you how “ez” you were and how great they are?

Those are the ingame conditions, NOED is part of the game, alas COMMS are not. They are a third party program.

The game has received many changes to lessen the frustration for killers already. Removal of pallet vacuum, DS and Mettle of Man nerf, and the big decrease in pallet density are what immediately come to mind.

I do understand the frustration with the Ruin nerf, and I do think it came too early seeing as how there are still so many unbalanced maps, but I really feel like people are just exagerrating so much on these forums, it's insane. Like this one change suddenly nullifies all the buffs killers have received over the past.

What sucks as a Killer is you can max out on destruction points long before the pallets are all gone.

So eventually you aren't even getting points for breaking them.

Kinda takes the reasoning out of the "Just Break The Pallet" meme

I was pretty worried about it in all honesty. However I was watching Otzdarva's stream yesterday. The man did like 10 games in a row in red ranks with no ruin and won all of them. Mostly with Legion who he was practicing. I was like you know what if he can do it, I can do it as well. I load up DBD pick my boy Michael Myers. My Perks were Pop/Nurses/Monitor/BBQ. Add-ons J.Myers Memorial, and Dead Rabbit.

I play and proceed to win the next 5 games I play without ruin. I had a game were they did pop two gens pretty early but I came back from it towards the mid game pretty strong. I think I might have been relying too much on Ruin in the past, and now I don't really think I need it. Especially with Michael and his slow start.

I know the majority of killer mains are going crazy because of the change, but have you tried going without ruin, and just using a fairly strong build and see how you do? And if you did, did you have good results, or poor results?

Using a streamer who has 1000+ hours in a game in comparison to average joe Killer player is not much of a comparison at all.

Tru3 has shown that he could make it to rank one with every killer using zero perks, the point is it can be done, but the tactics involved are scummy by survivor standards, and in truth there is little fun in it for the killer players as well.

If it can be done, but you would rather pull out your finger nails, is it worth spending your valuable personal game time doing it?

  • @nick_larking said:

but no ruin means more su;rvivors stick possibly, bhvr doesnt care aslong as survivors keep coming and playing.

Bhvr has to screw up horrible for them to suddenly lose and go down, id say its almost impossible.

And who will all these new players, play with? Red Rank Survivor mains who will rofl stomp them, and crush the will to play out of new killers?

  • I feel for you, but this is the reality of the state of Killer right now.

I hope you find time slot, and rank that allows you to play and have fun.

  • Haven't noticed if mine go missing, but its not outside the realm of possibility with these forums and their caretakers.

  • @survivormain1105 said:

Any killer main or player that doesn't know how to put pressure. I think the ruin will increase the skill level of killer players. To many times do killer only "win" because ruin is active. Cause as soon as it breaks they aren't able to put pressure mainly because they have tunnel vision for one survivor.

If you can't hit the skill checks, find the totem... there are perks that help you find them.

I don't buy that RUIN single handedly caused 4 people to all lose.

  • Camping already has a real great counter, DO THE GENS, punish the camper for their decision.

Remember the 2 die and 2 get free balance point BHVR is shooting for, well DO THE GENS while buddy stands there doing nothing.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Seriously, I know it's the cool thing to say but people literally copy paste that nonsense.

End game chat against a trapper he said "gen rushing is sooo fun," and yes he had been using Ruin. I asked politely, "instead of doing gens what should we have done?" and there was never a reply.

Keep in mind we basically unhooked each other instantly, healed each other and then worked on gens. All solo survivors too BTW.

So for anyone that says Gen Rushing is a real thing, I ask you the same question. What else should we have done? Also for the record, I think gen speed is too fast, but we can;t fix that so again what should we have done?

Do the totems and stop complaining about NOED, if you don't.

  • @Hex_Raider said:

Ruin was annoying as a solo new player because I had no idea what the other teammates were doing. This is why I rarely play solo. Communication is key.

Ruin was just annoying to play with. It was the equivalent of 2 or more survivors bringing flashlights in trial and meme'ing you all game with macros.

    Just absurdly annoying.

The information that comms provide about TOTEMS is criminal, and quite frankly cheating. If you were meant to know how many totems where left there would be a counter just like the generator one.

When you play solo you are playing the game as it was meant to be played. Take pride in it.

  • @GoddamnBananas said:

Are you...are you actually serious? Killers are so much stronger than they were two years ago, it's not even funny. The vast majority of balance changes since this game came out have been in favor of killers. While survivors might be stronger atm, it's not by much(the average survival rate is 40%, after all). And as someone who plays both sides, Hex:Ruin is objectively the most unfun perk in the game, both to use and go up against. Maybe stop with your victim mentality and learn how to play the game?

P.s. You should be happy the Doctor is finally getting looked at. He's been arguably the weakest killer since the Freddy buff. While his current state on the ptb is questionable (that 3 second cool down after shocking is unacceptable), he'll be adjusted before he goes live.

There is nothing in the OP's post to get this upset about. They state facts, and nothing more.

Its so apparent that you main survivor, even though you claim to play both, because you cannot even fathom that the other side has any value at all. If you played both, you'd understand the precedent this PTB patch set forward. It was clear that no where is BHVR looking at Killer enjoyment, be it new Killer or old.

Go on thinking that survivors are not the power role in this game. Sure there are certain Killers and perk combos that even the playing field. But out of a dozen or more Killers how many are actually viable in the Red Ranks consistently?

And out of so much variety, why should Killer be forced to play 2 or 3 different Killers if they want to compete.

Well I’m a killer main who always gets 3k/4K and I don’t go after people who were just unhooked. Just learn how to play good and not like a dick. Really easy.

You play your way superstar and let other people play how they like. No one has to give the survivors all the chances, if you want points you let them go and rehang them later, if you just want to kill, then tunnel until happy.

No need to call people a dick or question their play ability, because they apparently play well enough to down and hang someone.

  • @Snakeski said:

I'm thinking a good survivor buff would be shotguns that put the killer directly into a dying state just to turn the table once in a while

You now if you want to turn the table once and a while, PLAY KILLER you don't need to arm the survivors to kill people.

Or are you that much a survivor main that the thought of playing Killer for a round or two makes you sick.

You missed the point buddy. But that’s okay. I’m saying you aren’t that special. If you leave game new killers will come. They always do. Killers on rank 20 today will be rank 1 before you know it.

They will come, but after getting rolled, they will either switch to survivor or give up because the Killer side is a joke.

Survivor queues at rank 1 are about 1 minute for me at the moment. I've seen many killers play without Ruin yesterday and most of them still performed well and got some 4ks. I'm glad all the whiny people that got to red ranks by camping first hook at 5 gens with Ruin up will be gone soon. Red ranks is for elite players, not for advanced campers.

With how easy it is for Survivors to pip, red ranks will be for everyone soon enough.

  • @Peanits said:

Using voice chat is not something we ban for, nor something we would like to ban for.

Couldn't stop it if you wanted to.

  • Thanks for your opinion, that is not based in any real facts. But thanks anyways.

  • At some point there is a cost to having a special mode of play. Here SWF would have a cost. You can't act like you are not having a special situation, when the norm would be all playing solo.

So if there was a penalty for playing SWF, that is something you would just have to eal with. There is no such penalty but if one came , it would be warranted.

If you have a cell phone then you have the equipment needed for discord.

  • A universal handicap, would still be justified, because you are removing the DREADED playing with unknown players. A solid SWF group always knows their buddies are going to pull down the heavens to save them, you can be confident that they know how to play.

SWF even without comms, affords a leg up on just regular players.

So to me the handicap would still be valid. And to them I say if you are going to be punished anyways, then why not use comms? Discord is free and really good.

  • They tried it out, not sure what happened but it was removed shortly after implementation.

The major problem I saw was their game client crashing out, and you being punished for it. I don't know if that was an issue, but it did give me concern.

So now people are back to DCing, when ever they feel like it, with little consequence.

And what about the people who don't use coms and just want to party with their friends?

That is very rare, and you know it.

  • Oh yeah I forgot lowbie que times.

  • I have seen this topic before, when it was still a grey area, but then in the middle of it, a DEV responded to the thread informing us that BHVR does not consider voice comms cheating.

Because if they did accept is as cheating, they would be forced to try and do something about it, and they cannot prove you are using comms.

The most they could do is level penalties to SWF, just in case they ARE using comms, but that'll never happen.

Unfortunately SWF is here to stay, and they refuse to give Killers any advance knowledge about facing a SWF, so we are just forced to play an uneven match.

  • Atleast you get to play around with other builds while you slowly grind to the proper ranks.

I applaud you for taking into consideration the the impact going full bore on newbies can have.

And they often play so bad that you climb rather fast, cheers!

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Its not cheating. People who say it is cheating are stupid. (No other word can be used for that)

Though it isn't labeled cheating by BHVR, it sure a heck feels that way when you are playing Killer.

So yeah you can insult people but like it or not it is in fact using a third party software to gain a major advantage over the Killer.

  • @Nikotiini said:

I've gotten long queue times as survivor too, but way also way before the Ruin nerf was announced so i'm guessing it has nothing to do with that.

Nothing to do with it... YET, it'll come.

  • With every nerf the Killer count will become less and less, so yeah they can nerf them, and increase the problems even more. So there is that, keep nerfing until there are no killers left.

  • With the changes coming to RUIN, the Clowns speed is a definite hindrance, now in the right hands every Killer is viable, but in general the Clown has a very tough time of it.

I'm a fan of the Clown, I like him, but I'd wait on him, unless of course you are looking to just get his perks and use them on a stronger Killer, then by all means pick him up.

Yea but to just throw the towels in bc of a couple updates doesnt mean its over for killers, the devs are trying to balance the game in how they think it should be balanced and honestly they are doing a decent job.

you are not suppose to win every game you play and to say that is the case it just incorrect, i play both sides and i can tell you from my experience i win more killer games than i do with survivor (solo)

if the game was all players like yourself, (solo players) then the game would be in a way better spot.

The game needs protection from SWF, since they refused to limit SWF, or give Killers options, SWF continues to destroy any attempts at balance.

And it is those groups that cause Killers to get as sweaty as they do. Killers do not expect to win every game. They do however expect that if they play decently and make few mistakes, they will have a chance.

In Red Ranks, a Killer can play perfectly, making zero mistakes, and if the survivors also play well, the Killer has no chance at pipping, they can hopefully safety, but advancing is not in the cards.

I would prefer that the DEV's looked into why 80% of Red Rank games had RUIN in them, and not just make the RUIN less desirable so it doesn't get picked anymore.

  • @JOBreazy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/984269#Comment_984269

No i havent, if you think the spirit changes were nerfs then your delusional and nurses changes only really effected her add ons which btw she was way to strong to begin with, dont forget the massive buff to freddy which puts him in the top tier killer list so there not just nerfing killer like many people like to make it out to be

The Nurse though still viable, has had ALL OF THE FUN removed from her, her addons needed a looking at , her base kit was fine. The number of trials with Nurses has dropped off the charts.

The Spirit was a Killer that had a unique spin on the PALLET LOOP, and since survivors would rather complain then learn to play differently, they had her nerfed so that pallet loops now work on her.

Freddy got some love after 2+ years of being a whipping boy, and now he's heading for nerf town a second time.

Do not think for a moment that the Killers haven't been getting kicked in the head over the last couple months.

  • @w_sohl said:

Just watching killers play the PTB.  I don't understand how anyone on the killer side can complain about it.  If you are running Surveillance you'll know where Survivors are at all times. It's like Kindred, but on till totem is cleansed.  The moment they hop off the gen you get the regression indicator, the moment they hop on you get the indicator that the gen has stopped regressing.  Just watching Tru and some others play killer on the PTB, this is not a nerf to Ruin, it's a buff.

Shouldn't have to run 2 perks (half) in order to get the same effect as a single perk. Nice try though.

  • @epyon said:

    Ok so basically

    1. Bring the broken not fun Mori every game. Not to mention NOED which is super fun as it rewards killer for doing nothing whole game. Similar to hatch rly.

    2. & 3. Use only god tier killer and perks like a tryhard.

    Great. Where's my fun?

Let me fix your perspective view of NOED.

You say the Killer does nothing and gets rewarded.

The Killer plays 3 perked the entire game, until the end, where he may or may not be rewarded with a strong perk depending on how focused the survivors were.

The Killer is gambling a perk each time they use it, on other people , its completely out of his hands.

NOED is a risk, not a crutch for bad pay.

Maybe if they equipped another perk, the end game might not even happen. Maybe running NOED allows survivors to actually get to the end game?

People need to stop hating on NOED, its taken its beating like a champ, now leave it alone.

  • I would love to see a map where you were playing in a charred out / burning forest, could make for some really cool surroundings.

  • Its called smart play. You did the right thing.

They put themselves in the situation. What are you supposed to do, offer free escapes because they made a mistake.

They should treat it as a learning experience. Not unsportsmanlike at all.

Actions have consequences, survivors need to learn it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/983839#Comment_983839

It does, I just think we've all become a bit too accustomed to Ruin, it's become everyone's comfort zone. I stopped using it a couple of months ago and there's really nothing to be scared of. You'll find it actually forces you to play better and think smarter.

And yeah there are times where gens just fly like the wind but honestly if you think you played well and made very few mistakes, then you can't ask for much more from yourself. 4k'ing every game no matter what just isn't a thing that will happen.

Play whoever you like and have fun! <3

It seems that only survivor players are allowed to play casually, there is no such thing as a casual Killer. That is if they want to rank up.

The only casual Killers you find are the ones looking to escape the Red Ranks. Or ones that have had their spirit broken by the game, or just didn't care in the first place.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/983820#Comment_983820

Rank 1 isn't that scary either.

I play him there without Ruin and like I said, the world doesn't end. You can do well.

We are all glad you have zero issues playing this way, but is it even remotely possible, that an average player will have a very hard time, ENJOYING the game at that level versus average survivors?

RUIN allowed Killers to play the game with more Killers instead of those with speed. It allowed players to experiment with other perk combo's. The gutting of RUIN is just forcing a more diversive killer pool, down into a choice few that'll actually allow success.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

Why are people so terrified of playing without Ruin lol. It does make things harder in some cases sure, but really it's not that big of a deal.

Play any killer without Ruin and you'll realise the world doesn't end.

The clown has Zero map pressure, without RUIN he is not a viable High Rank Killer. If you like low ranks sure the Clown can be fun. But since the idea is to advance, I'd suggest not getting the CLOWN.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

Been playing killer primarily for almost 2 years, and I could not disagree more with the OP.

DS is not broken. Force it's use early and maximize your time. Down, eat it, pressure the nearest running gen. If they jump in a locker, fine, I'll play that 5 second game just so you don't have it at end game.

New ruin feeds my playstyle well. I like to pressure the gens as much as possible. I pick my openings in order to get chases shortened as much as possible. I'll drop a chase near a multi-loop area with one gen in order to pressure 2 gens that are near each other. New Ruin rewards that type of play.

I watched nerfs to both killers and survivors over the past 18 months. EGC is heavily in the killer's favor unless a key is involved. I'm ok with that as most matches don't have keys. Hen times are fast, but changing them would make it too easy for me. A good SWF can rock the match, but those are not the norm. Most are overly altruistic and forget gens when you start to put their friends at risk.

This community is much like any other. Lots of screaming with little substance.

You only feel this way because the NEW RUIN actually fits into the way you like to play. But screw everyone else who like s to play differently from you. This game should have many ways to play it, but slowly patch by patch the DEVS keep removing ways to play.

Pidgeon holing us to basically all play the same. They have already done that with looping, if a Killer was good at circumventing the dreaded loop around the junk, they were nerfed until loops actually work on them.

Eventually they will get to destroying a way YOU do like to play and then you will sing a different tune.

  • I feel ya!

Killer isn't actually that much fun, and the higher you get the more stressful it is. No one like playing in the higher ranks, that goes for both Survivors and Killers, BHVR needs to address that.

When most players of your game don't want to be in the top ranks, there is something WRONG with it.

  • You guys can make fun if you want, but the truth is with every poor choice the DEVS make they add more survivors and less killers.

Eventually that'll come to a breaking point, so make jokes if you want, but the real truth is we lose players from the Killer side due to frustration more then we lose survivor players due to frustration.

And for every Killer gone 4 or 5 people end up waiting for the remaining Killer lobbies.

So laugh it up, its real funny.

Don't complain when you are waiting forever because the Killers all left. And the Killers that are left are all super sweaty, that go for the 4k each game.
