Also I never said "don't complain about the matchmaking." I'm saying that using it to justify your lazy, entitled behavior is pathetic.

Yeah, how dare a silver complain in overwatch if they're matched against grandmasters. Instead of complaining about matchmaking they should just get gud.
/s
What a terrible comparison. Overwatch has an infinitely higher skill gap than DBD does, and based on Blizzard's stats, nearly 70% of the playerbase sits in-between those ranks. Grandmaster, for example, is less than 1% of that playerbase, whereas anyone can hit ranks of they just play enough. Not to mention the ranking system in DBD is a joke and half of the people in high ranks don't belong there.
-
So you're just trying to make excuses for your entitled behavior because it's easier than trying to get better at the game? Got it.
-
I don't know if it counts as meta or not, but I pretty much always run Bond. The information it provides is just so useful so often.
-
Agreed. There's no point in running a perk that's either seriously bugged, or is just non-functional with the disastrous state of the servers. At this point Balanced Landing is a better exhaustion perk lol.

I think OP is right, if someone gets unhooked next to a gate and you down them they will still crawl out...
Yeah yeah go for the unhooker. They get a sprint boost and they run out...
Back then when Legion’s deep wound condition was changed, the Dev said that a killer shouldn’t get an automatic kill. Well DS next to an exit gate is automatic win...
No, it's not an automatic win, because you had an entire match that you could have played better up until that point. As someone else said, if you did your job better beforehand, you wouldn't have to rely on hooking the same person twice in a minute at the end. Besides, almost every killer runs NOED these days, and there are a ton of killers with potential one-shots, so you have every opportunity to down the guy who did the unhooking, before and after they try it.

Report them lmao. That might be the most childish thing I’ve ever heard. First of all, the game shouldn’t be like this to begin with. Rather than taking the easy way out installing DC penalties and As much as you want to blame the person hook suiciding or quitting it can better be resolved by implementing other solutions via in game changes to make people feel like they have more of a chance. I’m not saying hey killers don’t camp those hooks, because by all means go ahead you have every right to do that if you want to. But this game doesn’t need to give them more of a reason to other than their own interest. My big thing is, Mori’s are just insanely feeding into That kind of behavior from killers. It’s kind of ridiculous when you think about something like that being a small component in someone’s load out pre game but having such a big impact in game. It’s not “ultra rare” but rather “common” as it shows up in literally every bloodweb level. I played 10 games straight as survivor just recently and my findings are that 8/10 of those games the killer had an ebony Mori. That’s just ridiculous. I don’t think it’s that serious. That’s all they have to put in that slot to help them gain an advantage but survivors don’t have that same treatment in their offering slot do they? They have add ons, killers have add ons. Except survivor add ons are one time use like the brand new part, killers add ons last the whole game. How is that balanced ?
First of all, imagine talking about the "easy way out" while defending DC's. And no, reporting DC's/suicides isn't childish, it's the right thing to do. There's literally a report category for people who afk, quit, etc. Second, having DC penalties doesn't encourage camping, that's a Herculean leap in logic. If garbage players want to camp, they're gonna camp, regardless of whether the person will quit or not. Third, I highly doubt you ever saw a Mori in 8/10 games. While it's true that P3 bloodwebs give Ebonies out like candy, you still don't face them very often. And yes, Survivors do have an equivalent to a Mori, the keys. You can't argue for the nerf/removal of one, without including the other. Man, you're so biased, you've actually got me defending Killers lmao.
-
You never "have" to tunnel or camp. You choose to, to supplement your own lack of skill and effort. A good killer doesn't have to play like that to get 2+ kills the vast majority of the time. "If I leave the hook I'm doomed to a 0-1k." That's exactly why you'll never improve at this game. More importantly, what could possibly be fun about camping someone? I don't play killer to mindlessly stand in one spot for 80+ seconds, doing nothing. That's just boring. Isn't it more fun to actually go and try for more kills, instead of giving up on the 4k right away because you saw something you didn't like? Yikes.

Can we please do something about ebony Mori’s ?
Mori's will be addressed the same day that keys do, although it seems like both sides would be okay with that at this point.

There’s no excuse to DC sure, but they can still hook suicide. It literally doesn’t matter when it comes to your teammates. You can still make an early departure as their teammate.
And if they immediately suicide on their first hook, report them, since that's almost as bad. More importantly, suicides are far less frequent than DC's used to be. It's a fact that people stick around for the majority of a match far more often than they used to, and that's a good thing.
-
Let me be clear: DC'ing in general, is a ######### move, and I report almost every person who does. But saying that a necessary mechanic like hatch should be removed, simply on the off-chance someone DC's at the end to give another person hatch, is just childish. Should we get rid of one of the hook states just because some people die on hook to give the last guy hatch? Calm down, and stop getting so worked up over the loss of a single kill. I swear, some of you people won't be happy until Survivors have nothing.

Then you dont understand the fact that the perks are what make the killer even more unavoidable and there powers this game is killer sided the survivor side is nothing
While I agree that this game feels like it's becoming way too Killer-sided, the idea that simply using a killer or a specific perk is "toxic" is ridiculous. I hate Freddy as much as the next guy, but simply playing him doesn't make someone toxic. Irrational statements like that only hurt Survivor's credibility.
-
Yeah, I'm gonna call b.s. There is almost no excuse to DC, period. If you chose to go into a game with 4 other people, to essentially ruin the experience of everyone else there because your feeling for hurt, is just plain pathetic, regardless of which side you play. Do you want to go back to the days when Survivors DC'd immediately when they saw Legion and Killers DC's as soon as Ruin got popped? I'd rather play a flawed, semi-toxic, but full match than wait forever to find a game, only to have it be over before it really began because someone was upset.
-
In other words, get a report?
-
Pretty sure this is just a PC thing. I'm a mostly solo queue player at red ranks on PS4 and I've almost never seen my teammates running it. If a solo queue player DOES run it, it's usually just to take the aggro to make the game more interesting for themselves, since many feel that the chase is the most entertaining part of the game.
-
My God, the entitlement in this thread. Imagine complaining about the extremely rare circumstance where someone willingly gives up all their points and their time invested to give someone else hatch. Someone makes that sacrifice, and they're "abusing the game?" It's not like they're receiving no punishment for it, it only takes a few DC's in a day to get locked out of matchmaking for an hour or longer. Let them give up their playtime, this almost never happens anyways. My favorite part is the people trying to advocate for the removal of hatch, and important mechanic in a game where the majority of people solo queue. The idea that they should remove what's sometimes the only means of escape for you, no matter how bad your teammates were, because your feelings got hurt is so petty it's actually incredible. So you lost a kill in one match in a videogame because someone else gave them an escape. This game has much more severe problems than this.
-
Yes, it is. I agree that the argument of "if you don't tunnel, you'll never eat it" is objectively wrong, but it IS primarily an anti-tunnel perk. Just because some people use it outside it's intended purpose doesn't mean that it's not. As long as so many killers camp and tunnel, Decisive and Borrowed are necessary. There are genuinely situations where someone is being blatantly camped/tunneled to death, and the only way to give them a chance to survive, or even live a few seconds longer, is to use those perks. And what, you want to take that away? Give more power to the campers and tunnelers?

I mean, you're still telling me how unimportant it all is. How everything should be chill. How you'd love a good debate.
All I'm doing over here is asking why the newbie experience consists mostly of being stomped by full lobbies of high rank people. Thinking of some way to mitigate it. Then you write a paragraph calling names, saying it's toxic, entitled, and so on.
I'm sorry if this doesn't really lend much credence to the whole, "Just a chill party game, relax!" narrative. I'd just prefer matchmaking to make more sense, like it does in most other games.
Okay, but that's not the point you were making before. You attacked me for playing with friends, referring to it as "abusing an advantage." Then you implied that saying that it's a casual party game, which it is, or at least was originally meant to be, is hypocrisy and compared it to wanting unfair loops.

They say "Just a fun part game, brah!" but at the same time they're playing just as seriously as anyone else.
"Party game, brah!" is just a handwave. It's no different than saying, "Don't change infinite loops, it's just a game, no big deal!"

"Ok, but that advantage is fun and I don't actually abuse it, honest! So don't touch it."
I guess. Some restrictions on lobbies are fairly common in other games, DbD might be the only game I've seen where it can be so thoroughly abused to screw with your opponent.
These kinds of comments were what I was reacting to. If your problem was just the matchmaking, THAT'S what you should have said. And I agree, this game's matchmaking is a disgrace; there's other way to describe it. It consistently fails both sides. And somehow, it seems to have actually gotten worse over the years. You're absolutely right that it's unfair to newer players. But that's not the fault of SWF's. The devs already said they were making it so that the game matches based on the highest person's rank, and not the average rank of the group like it used to. Now we just have to wait and see if they can actually do it right for once.

Funny, when you look at your comments and most of them are just focus on complaining about one side. Seems you are a hypocrite yourself.
Funny, every time someone disagrees with you on this thread, instead of trying to have a rational debate with them about game balance, you instead spend all this time looking at our profiles and combing through our old comments, and take them out of context, in some desperate bid to discredit us instead of trying to actually come up with a counterpoint. How sad.

This kind of commentary is where we get the idea from. You literally equated me playing a casual party game with my friends, the 10% of the time I do, with "abusing an advantage." That's what I reacted strongly to. And you're far from the first. If you, or anyone else, wants to debate game balance in a calm, rational way, then great. I'm always down for a good debate. But half the time I check, this forum genuinely seems to be nothing but toxic killer mains blatantly attacking me for having a different opinion than them, or for daring to play with my friends on occasion, and I'm sick of it. I've genuinely never seen the level of toxicity and entitlement that I've witnessed in this community (on both sides), and that's saying something.

Where did you get, "egoistic" out of this topic?
Fact is, most team online games have some form of preventing abuse with lobbies. Either limiting how many you can bring, or ensuring that you can't abuse a disparity in ranks, or something similar.
DbD might be the only game I've ever seen where you can stack a full lobby of high ranked people and get matched with a newbie. It's weird.
What are you talking about? I've played plenty of actual team pvp games (Overwatch and R6, for example) and plenty more PvE games that happen to have a pvp mode (Destiny 2, Last of Us), and I've rarely seen lobby restrictions of any kind, especially not limiting how many people you can play with. The only kind I ever see is a limit on how much of a rank difference people can have, and even then, that's only in the Comp playlists. The majority of games I play are solo-queue anyways, which is how I know it's such a shitshow sometimes. More importantly, don't equate me actually enjoying a game with friends once in a while to "abusing" the game. My God man, check your entitlement before you try and argue game balance. This was designed to be a chill, casual party game, and it barely manages to be competent at that, and some of you want to treat it like a hardcore competitive game? It shouldn't even be anyone's main game, let alone something anyone takes that seriously, on either side. If you choose to spend all of your playtime in such a flawed game, instead of one of the many actually good, proper competitive games, that's on you, but get off your soapbox and stop telling people they're wrong for playing with their friends.

I got this game on release, survivors in the early days were unstopable. Windows that could be vaulted indefinitely, godloops every 2 feet, pallet vacuum. We have gotten a lot of what we wanted, however its because what survivors got was obscenely overpowered. You could heal between killer cleaning animations. From day 1 killers just wanted a balanced game but you victims wouldnt hear of it. So yeah, we had to fight an uphill battle to have balance. Meanwhile you keep getting freebies left and right.
It's hilarious that you call Survivor players "victims" when it's the killer mains that have been drowning in their own victim mentality for years. And I'm sorry, who's been getting freebies? You've been given practically everything. Meanwhile for Survivors it's been years of nothing but adjusting, learning, and having to improve at the game in order to compete. The average rank 1 killer today is objectively less skilled than the average rank 15 was a few years ago, and vice-versa for Survivors. The sheer hypocrisy you're displaying is unreal.

It really does feel like it's a case of "all or nothing" with regards to survivors.
As a killer, I either get a 4-man SWF of red rank people who I can't touch, or I get a group of 4 randoms who basically take turns walking into my weapon.
If it were somehow possible to smooth it out a little, that'd be nice. Maybe enable in-game communication, but put a limit on how many people you can queue with. (Two out of four, for example)
A queue limit is a bad idea. I have three friends who I enjoy playing with, on the rare occasion we're actually all online at the same time. Not to sweat it out, but because we just enjoy each other's company. If I couldn't play with them anymore, I'd objectively play less DBD, and so would many others. It is supposed to be a casual party game, after all.
-
People seem to forget that a voice chat system wouldn't mean you're required to participate in it. Like Overwatch, or almost any other pvp game with a team chat, you can choose to join or leave said chat. And yes, it would be helpful long term. Yes, the 5% of games that have 4-man SWF's are cancer for one side, but solo queue is practically unplayable for the other side sometimes. Anything to close that gap is a good thing.
-
I'm sorry, an "Uphill battle?" Really? Is that what you call three years of getting nearly everything you ask for? Three years of almost every balance change being in your favor? What an obscene sense of entitlement.
-
Funny, meta Killers who use crutch/"second chance" perks aren't fun to go up against, either. But you're just gonna focus on complaining about one side cause you're a hypocrite.
-
This is BHVR were talking about. Anything to reduce the number of rainbow games (a person of every rank color) I get on both sides would be great. Or games like a couple hours ago when I went up against two red ranks, and two rank 20's. As a rank 12 at the time. I hope to God well see an improvement, but I don't have high hopes. And while this game could use a reduction in toxicity, hiding ranks isn't gonna help. Let's hope I'm wrong though.
-
It's because he can do just about everything, and he can do it all with minimal skill or effort involved. Others in this thread have gone into the details already, but the way the game plays out as/against Freddy is just boring. I don't mind most strong killers. If I go down to a Nurse or a Billy, I feel like they actually earned that, and the interactions when you're trying to avoid their hits are often fun and engaging. There's none of that with Freddy. He's the definition of "low risk, high reward" and he has the most cancerous, oppressive build in the game. No one wants old Freddy back, but he's not exactly doing this game's replayability any favors atm.
-
I won't know about Xbox, but making new accounts is extremely easy on PS4. If it's as easy, then just make a new account to practice a new killer on, it's what I've been doing for Billy.
-
Imagine thinking the infinite mend exploit that blatantly took games hostage and the hook tech that's not even that useful are actually comparable. Lmao some of you people are seriously out of touch with reality.
-
They should remove the ranking/pip system that we can see, and just keep it as an invisible matchmaker. They don't even have to change how it works, just make it more precise, and stop us from seeing it. Plenty of other games have an invisible MMR, after all. That way people can stop being toxic about rank, and actually play the game *gasp* for fun, but some poor rank 20 trying out Nurse won't get thrown against top tier sweatlords.
-
I haven't seen a difference in wait times, at least not when I'm solo queueing or playing killer. The matchmaking did change for SWF's though. The only difference I've found is that sometimes I'll get hit from a mile away, or that my frames sometimes go to s*** when I'm playing Doctor.
-
I don't know what's funnier, someone pretending that one salty player represents all survivor mains, or the people in this thread who are so out of touch with reality that they think survivors are being catered to by the devs, despite the fact that the majority of balance changes since this game came out have been in favor of killers. You think I haven't gotten just as much hate mail from killers as I have from survivors? Face it: there are plenty of salty little crybabies who take this game too seriously on both sides. But you guys are too busy playing victim in your little echochamber to see that. Could you be any more biased; you guys are the reason the forums are so hard to take seriously these days. The sad part is there are plenty of reasonable, logical voices on both sides too, but they're drowned out by the precious little babies like some of you who flood this place with your hyper emotional drivel.
-
Have you...have you heard Jane?
-
Are you...are you actually serious? Killers are so much stronger than they were two years ago, it's not even funny. The vast majority of balance changes since this game came out have been in favor of killers. While survivors might be stronger atm, it's not by much(the average survival rate is 40%, after all). And as someone who plays both sides, Hex:Ruin is objectively the most unfun perk in the game, both to use and go up against. Maybe stop with your victim mentality and learn how to play the game?
P.s. You should be happy the Doctor is finally getting looked at. He's been arguably the weakest killer since the Freddy buff. While his current state on the ptb is questionable (that 3 second cool down after shocking is unacceptable), he'll hopefully be adjusted before he goes live.

I assume the last statement about the killer was sarcasm, just trying to make sure I'm accurately interpreting your reaponse
Disregard just saw your update, I don't think just giving killers information about survivors is the right answer, but killera need love, a lot of it. The game has come a long way from where it was but it's still painfully obvious how much easier it is to play survivors especially with SWF.
Imagine actually believing Survivor is that much easier to play. Especially when they've released the stats, and the average survival rate is only about 40%. And that was months ago, it might be even lower now.
-
I do hate Ruin in particular, but the other perks I'm fine with. Cause it feels like you need some skill to get good use out of the others. Whereas Ruin is just "here you go, free value for doing nothing." It's bad game design. I wish Ruin was weaker and perks like Thanatophobia were stronger, tbh.

EXACTLY i dont understand why swf gotta do killers dirty amd on top of that ..unfairly. they can totally take their toxic bullshit to KYF . Cuz frankly im sick of the rank concept. Actually no. It wouldnt be a problem if players werent toxic try hards. That then make killers try harder lol
At this rate id rather be rank 20 as killer. Cuz i get swf left and right its exasperating
I'll call b.s. Only 5% of all games are 4 man SWF's, and another 10% are 3 man's. Which means that 85% of the time, your matches have only solos and duos. Stop pretending that every time you do poorly, it's the "evil SWF players." I mean, wanting to play with your friends? How toxic lol.

Also, if you didn't drop pallets so much you'd do better
Only 40% average survival rate. At least, it was a few months ago. I imagine it's a little lower now.

"Half the games are swf using voice chat." I'll call b.s. Only 5% of all games are 4 man swf's, and another 10% are 3 man's. That means that 85% of the time, you're going up against a mix of duos and solo's. It's really not as bad as a lot of killer mains like you want to believe it is. Sometimes you just get outplayed, sometimes people like myself run an ally aura reading perk just to know where everyone is, depending on my playstyle that day.
Also more pink offerings/add-ons? That's a terrible idea. Both sides would just be more miserable.
-
Why is it so hard to understand that when survivors have been nerfed so many times, that the strongest killer in the game will look stronger and stronger accordingly? Also, it should be common sense that a character with a high skill ceiling like Nurse's will feel stronger and stronger as everyone continues to get better/more familiar with her, eventually reaching a point where it feels oppressive. Compare her to someone like Trapper, who has a pretty simplistic kit, resulting in a low skill ceiling which most hit ages ago, meaning he feels no more powerful than he did years ago.

LOL devs have posted stats showing it is over 50% and they have posted stats showing it at 70% of all matches is SWF.
Sure, 50-70 % is "not as common as you think"
too funny when even the devs stats prove you wrong. Here's my advice, do a test, comb each lobby and see who is in SWF, youll see at least 50% of your matches contain them, usually more than 50%
You realize the vast majority of those are 2 man's, right? 4 man swf's are about 5%, and 3 man swf's are either 10% or 15%. On top of that, they've shown that the average survival rate of 40% only goes up to 50% for those playing in swf, so not really the impact you want to believe. People enjoying some games with a friend =/= sweaty tryhard 4 man's every game. You can stop your false equivalency now please.

so Elusive on your opinion can we report the premade groups with all top rank 1-2 and one rank 20 matched against a rank 15 -20 killer?for exploiting abuse?or the game is supposed to work in this way and nothing can be done?so i got a good reason for quit
Only if it's something extreme, like 3 rank 1-3's and a 20. Then it's obvious they're exploiting. But sometimes friends are different ranks. In my main group of friends, for example, I'm currently 7, but they're something like 11, 13, and 16(they don't play DBD much these days). So last week, I probably ended up facing a lot of yellow rank killers without realizing what was happening. I will keep this in mind in the future tho. Just saying, be careful when reporting.
-
Agreed. If the devs spent more time fixing the weaker perks instead of just nerfing whatever the crybabies are posting about this week, the game would be a lot more fun. The biggest reason why we have such "meta" perks, is because there are so many perks that just don't compete in most scenarios.
