  • I still vote ds. Adren can be powerful in a swf but you dont need a group to get value out of ds. Theres also the time it buys for fear the survivor may have it.

  • Put skill checks on a key then we'll consider it.

Thats what got me started at camping and tunneling. If you dont do well, you are insulted as "ez baby killer".

If you camp and tunnel, you are still insulted (but usually less, because the one that died first are already gone), but you have at least won the game.

I believe one phrase sums up the killer experience in this game.

"So long as you play by their rules, you'll never win"

  • I don't like people stacking 2nd chance perks but by itself I feel Adrenaline is fine. It's only OP when a SWF with headsets coordinate it to proc the moment a killer downs someone.

  • It didn't use to be a hex perk. I wasn't around for that time but before NOED would just activate when the gens were done and I think it lasted for a few mins before it wore off. There was no counter back then except hide till it wears off. Like when you here Mikeys theme music.

Proper looping is more than just brainlessly dropping pallets and hopping over windows.

It requires anticipation, accurate movements, bloodlust control, quick reaction times, pallet respect testing while in a chase, map knowledge, combining of structures, jukes to eventually lose the killer etc.

If I chase someone and I realize that person's just dropping everything without even trying to get the most out of pallets I immediately know I will win the match by following said person through all relevant tiles. A good looper will test me on just about every pallet, fake window vaults and try to keep strong pallets even to the point where they will rather take a hit than drop shack pallet at 5 gens to name a sample.

Good loopers will also try and max out every near-by window before dropping a pallet which requires serious distance control especially when bloodlust is a thing.

Long story short: There's a reason most survivors get downed in around 30 seconds (give or take) even on red ranks. Looping is not as easy as some people think.

Hiding on the other hand... Well, just run Urban Evasion, Fixated, Spine Chill and Iron Will and hide whenever the cat lights up.

To be fair I will also ask you: Am I missing something in terms of hiding?

I think I miss read the topic. When it said hiding or looping I assumed during a chase. I meant it's very difficult to lose the killer once you are found as compared to looping.

  • Another player who created an account just to make a post about noed. How original.

  • @metalklok said:

ive had it happen recently where im stuck in the pallet after they dropped it on me but i can still break the pallet when stuck.

Same. I posted it in the bugs section but it got merged with another thread. It's probably happening often.

Why'd you twist numbers to suit your argument? A bit hypocritical mate.

I'm just saying. Every time there's an argument people seem to pull numbers out of a hat. I've seen people claim "swf is the majority" and others I see people say "only 4% of your matches are SWF and does not need a nerf."

  • @Clevite said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1248334#Comment_1248334

Swf is not going anywhere. It is the majority of the player base, and once again, what keeps the game competitive.

4 randoms is a 4k 90% of the time. If swf goes, killers will 4k all day. However they will be waiting a long time for lobbies, as many survivors will move on.

They have already shrunk the maps and created a lot of dead zones. If a killer can't catch a survivor now, well maybe it is their skill that is lacking.

I love how people twist the numbers to whatever suits their argument.

"Swf is the majority. Swf is the minority" That's why I treat everyone/thing like wikipedia. It's probably bullshit :P

But truth is they won't put in an option to avoid swf because we all know every killer would turn it on. The devs arent going to piss off 4/5s of their customers.

  • I treat him like myers. Break los. Run while looking backwards. Or just run and hope someone else breaks him.

  • @Yamaoka said:

No offence but obviously you don't even know what looping means if you actually think hiding takes skill while looping does not.

None taken. From my understanding. Looping is when the killer finds you and you lead him on a wild goose chase. Using pallets and vaults. Taking as much time as possible so everyone else can do gens.

Hiding is not being found or somehow losing the killer during a chase. Am i missing something?

  • I prefer hiding. Anyone can loop the killer. Losing them completely takes skill. When I loop a killer I don't feel like I am playing well. I feel like I am using a broken mechanic.

  • If you need NOED on a killer with a chainsaw you suck as killer. This is coming from a killer main too.

  • It sounds like GF counters OoO pretty damn well. So long as I am stealthed I can see the survivor but they can't see me?

  • Now that i think about it. I think the core of the game needs to be changed for these killers to be effective. They take too much time to own people that gens fly against survivors who arent potatoes.

  • Trapper could use some love. He's already had an add on rework and he can finally rearm traps without picking them up but that's not enough. His biggest weakness is the time it takes him to get all his traps to setup. Corrupt Intervention was probably made for him. Sure it's a plague perk but how many times has a perk come out and it was great on a killer it didn't come with? What really hurts trapper is the biggest advantage survivors get. Headsets. Yes, not all survivors are swf but a lot are. #@$% the charts because I don't think they are accurate. One person see's you plant a trap then everyone knows where it is.

Another issue with traps is most are obvious. There's very few places you can set a trap that will catch someone if they run through it but it's either in plain sight that they can see it or it's a window and people know to check it. There's plenty of tall grass around loops. Against good trappers I am paranoid about grass. I can see if a trap is under a pallet. I can't see it in grass. Unless your running a bloody coil there is literally no danger for disarming a trap.

  • @Munqaxus said:

Wouldn't it be amazing if these killer mains played solo survivor queue half the time.

The same could be said if SWFs played killer.

Out of the whole thread the only thing I would change for certain is DS. Everyone runs it past a certain point. Even if you don't tunnel you still have to deal with it. I can hook someone, leave, hook someone else, the first person I hooked makes a save, I down them and they still have DS. I would at least make it so if the killer hooked someone else your DS deactivates. Or at least cut it down to 30 seconds.

Picture this scenario. It's not rare because it happens to me quite often.

    You hook survivor A.

    You Leave.

    Find, down, hook survivor B

During that chase someone saved survivor A.

As you hook survivor B, survivor A unhooks right in front of you.

Survivor B probably has BT+DS so you go after survivor A.

Survivor A is downed and they still have DS -.-

In that situation I'm screwed no matter who I go after. I didn't tunnel A because they came to me. I can't just leave both of them alone, that would be counter productive. If I slug, survivor A probably has unbreakable and wasted my time. All while this is going on, survivors C+D are doing gens.

  • I'm fine with DH. Old DH used to be broken before dedicated servers. Before you could literally time it as the killer swung so it was like a free escape. Since the servers it's damn near impossible to do that consistently. Once in awhile I might fall for it but as soon as I know X survivor is running DH I know to bait their exhaustion perk.

Time and time again i’ll be playing with friends, doing great. Gens done, great teamwork, healing, callouts, looping killers. And then it happens. You get the last gen done and see that glimmer of hope. The Exit Gates. But right as you reach it..*DUN DUN* NoEd proctors and all that progress, time, and teamwork is flushed down the drain by the easiest crutch perk in the game. NoEd isn’t a perk that needs to exist. It’s horrible. It proves that you can try as hard as possible and still have all that mean nothing because a killer can get his easy kills on you and your teammates. OtzDarva has proven this multiple times and has even gone out of his way to have streams dedicated to the fact that it’s unfair and unbalanced. Remove NoEd from the game. Make us all happy. Show us that you are infact. Doing a pretty good job so far.

Id rather just get rid of potato survivors who dont have the mental cognition to cleanse totems.

  • @GhostJonny said:

As someone who has played this game since launch, this recent patch is the absolute most hated patch yet.

Poor balancing options, more bugs, deadzones, AA and V-Sync being forced, not to mention they still have dedicated servers enabled despite them making every aspect of the game worse.

Personally for me, what is making me quit DBD is the forced anti-aliasing that makes the game look like blurry dogshit, which causes eye pain and headaches for me, making the game literally unplayable.

I really don't want this game to die, it may never be as fun and addicting as it was 2 years ago, but I hope the devs get their ######### together before their game dies.

Personally i think patch 1.9.2 was the worst. The one that made it super easy to pallet stun or flashlight blind a killer in pick up animation. Thank the entity the devs reverted it but its tragic they were the ones who thought it was a good idea.

I agree. I always preferred groups working on a gen because that way I knew I was only going to lose one at a time. Unfortunately, a lot of killers couldn't think that way and pushed for nerfs to groups of people working on gens.

As I said when this decreased efficiency was brought up at PTB and someone started a thread on here saying that "it isn't enough and it should have been 20%", no matter what figure they brought in people would want more. Some people are just ######### at playing killer and no amount of slowdown will change that. They are just bad at it. They can't balance gen times around those people. All these nerfs do is make it marginally easier for bad players and a lot easier for good players.

The only thing this update does is makes 3 gen stronger. Until they nerf that.

  • @MPUK said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1239773#Comment_1239773

Because killers moaned about how gens got done quickly at the start when all or 3 of the survivors hopped on one gen. Even though if you had discordance equipped it would actually help you at the start of a round to find where at least 2 survivors were. They altered it to slow that group progression and so survivors have now spread out as it makes more sense than having the speed reduction. You now lose the benefit of discordance and set yourself up to potentially lose 3 gens in the first chase.

This was the doing of killers who constantly moaned about survivors getting on gens together at the start of a match. Nobody else.

I never had an issue with multiple survivors on the same gen. My concern was 3 survivors each on a gen while I'm chasing the 4th.

  • Not really. I find him viable but not powerful like the top 4. He doesn't have to hit someone with his power and wait 7 seconds to hit them. His teleport gives him some much needed map pressure. Definitely an improvement over the initial product.

  • Normally they dont give a release date. Encase they have to postpone it people dont get angry.

  • @Orionbash said:

Once Freddy is nerfed into oblivion I'll stop whining. Thanks.

After his horrible release, he's earned his rework. F tier was named after him lol

  • No. It wasnt. It was deliberate. They made announcements on the dev stream that this was to be a QoL update. They said "were going to change this" and people said thats a bad idea. Just proved they dont play their own game.

Lets not forget old MoM. Anyone with 500 hours into both sides could have told them how that was going to go down.

Plus when freddy first released they nerfed him despite being the weakest killer at the time.

Not to go off topic because people do complain too much but i wanted to point out not everything the devs have done has been good for the game.

Every patch has good intentions that are supposed to have game balancing properties, the reason they are undone is because something goes wrong

I forget its name but there was a patch that made it super easy to stun a killer in pick up animation with a pallet or flashlight. It was virtually impossible to pick up a survivor unless there was no one else around. It was probably the worst patch ever released but thankfully they reverted it shortly after. The scary part is it was the people who made this game that thought it was a good idea. Tyde said it best. "They've done some questionable things in the past but after this. Now i KNOW they dont know what they're doing".

  • ALL the updates are healthy for the game? I can think of some patches they reverted or released another patch to try to undo the previous. I get your point people complain too much but lets not pretend these devs know their own game.

  • @xEa said:

Thats a problem overall with the ranking system. If gens are done quick / if the killer is getting kills quick, nobody gets anything out of it.

On top of that, i think you might be exaggerating a bit. If it is true you have looped the killer for 5 gens, there is no way you are only silver. I do manage to loop the killer for 5 gens from time to time and i end up always iridescent on that emblem.

Simple math, killer is on you for 180 seconds (absolute minimum) and your value multiplicator is probably at 3.5-4 on average. This alone are 700-800 points including starting points, not considering escaping chases or pallet stuns.

Also because he claims he was being chased for 5 gens he had zero opportunities to heal/rescue someone. Hence why his altruism is zero. I main traper and if I got someone in the basement and it's potato survivors who step in my traps I get nothing. Even though I hooked everybody multiple times and few gens got repaired my chaser is non existent because they kept stepping in traps.

Iron maiden lasts like 5 seconds I think, if you have head on you already bought 3

Actually I think it's more like 15 but I could be wrong. Your not going to get the one shot unless they are jumping into lockers right in front of you. It's more for tracking. I think I only got the expose hit once on my nurse. I started using it encase people try to jump into a locker during my 2nd blink. People now just run in a straight line to put distance between them and nurse so I swapped it out.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

Idk...BBQ and Iron Maiden is a little mean. LUL but BBQ doesn't seem OP IMO. Just get in a locker or hide behind the nearest gen. If for some weird reason you have neither around you...either hide close to the hook or if you're far away, walk one way for a few seconds and then double back. Its really not hard to counter.

IMO iron maiden simply doesn't last long enough to use it offensively. Unless they are jumping into lockers right in front of you for head on. Unless I'm a high mobility killer I don't use BBQ. I prefer whispers. If not for the bp bonus I bet less people would use it.

  • @Grimm_Reckoning said:

Yea EvilJoshy that's why I suggested multiple ways not just gen completion but I read a lot of crying about gen rushing but isn't that the job of the Survivor to complete generators and open the gates ? Working well with a team and completing tasks quickly shouldn't be punished so it's easier for the killer there's perks that slow gen rushing and they nerf gen repair pretty much every patch (Look at the latest patch notes) I don't see killers offering to wait while survivors get set up to play they come out the gate raring to go and doing what they're supposed to kill survivors so unless they're discussions on killers hook or slug rushing not sure what you'd call it gen rushing isn't a thing as far as I'm concerned

It is the survivors job to complete gens, yes. Its also the killers job to kill them and right now a lot of people feel gens get completed too fast when the survivors know what they are doing. A lot of killers lack mobility or chase ending powers. I think Tr3 just released a video of all 5 gens getting completed in like 3 and 1/2 mins. Hopefully the adjustments to map sizes help with the slower killers.

This post is less about BBQ than it is about distortion being a bit subpar because of how limited it is.

You want a buff? Instead of completing a gen because that encourages even more gen rushing. Restore a stack everytime you make a safe rescue. I would consider that fair.

  • You don't even need a perk to counter BBQ.

    Hide behind a gen.

Go one direction, count to 4 then change direction

Be within 32 meters of the hook

Last but not least. Get off the gen and get in a locker. I know your brains are hardwired to rush gens but you can do it. If only for a lil bit. Baby steps :P You have all the tools needed to counter BBQ. Please stop asking for more buffs. It's only useful on killers with high mobility. Most people use it for the BP bonus. Whispers is my go to tracking perk. GL hiding from that lol

  • Whispers. It saves me time when I know an area is clear of survivors. It doubles for trapper because if an area is clear then no one will se me plant a trap. It also helps me find them and unlike BBQ, it's on all the time.

Pharmacy. I farm green medkits so I don't have to run inner strength or find a survivor to heal me.

  • This is what happens when you give out participation trophies.

  • Sounds cool. I'm sure if it's something they can sell us they will put it in the shop -.-

Legion was a let down for me. I was hoping for a killer with multiple personalities and powers to match.

  • I don't even know what that means so im gonna say no. Id rather we just have a font for sarcasm.

Nurse is pretty much trash now. Most of the time I face a nurse it is some noob who can't play her and yes I bully the hell out of them.

Before her rework I never used more than 2 blinks and i was good with nurse. After her rework I just don't have fun with her anymore. Traveling the map takes too much time. People can run in a straight line and out run you now. Every missed blinks feels like I'm getting hit by a pallet.

    /S

Will you continue to buy cosmetics if you can't find a game? Cause keep pushing in this direction and there won't be any killers left. How long do you think your que times will be then?

Actually I think the killers make the money in this game. The survivors are the majority but we all know the licensed killers are what draws people to this game. You think people saw Nancy+Steve and said "Omg I wanna play as Nancy" No they saw freddy, bubba, demi and said i wanna play as him! Then they cried when they realized how broken the game is and they switched to the survivor side.

yay. That adds another 20 seconds to the match. Killers rejoice :P

  • I use it all the time on my trapper because i need the time to setup. Even if they hide for the duration, that's more time for me to set traps.

  • I wonder how many survivor mains are going to say "just apply pressure" of "ruin didnt change anything about match duration"

It doesnt help that every survivor runs to the same place when in a chase. I hate bedham because everyone runs to the damn school.

The only reason you wouldn't have time to do it is because you refused to do it. If you have trouble finding totems, run Detective's Hunch.

Or people can just play the game long enough to memorize the locations. Thats why adding more spawn locations doesnt help hex perks. Best hex imo is devour hope. Cause they dont get a notification until it's too late.

I was going to argue with you but the "survivor sided game" LMAO XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD KEKW.

"Theres like 19 killers and only 3 are strong at end game."

Nah fam, there are a lot of strong killer, the thing is you want braindead killers like freddy that ignore perks without any skill (Freddy ignoring bt without any skill needed) and get survivors at loop without any skill (Blood lust snares freddy) + Easy pressure.

Demogorgon is strong on the right hands, can be weak in some scenarios but he counters shack pretty well + LT loops + Jungle gym

Oni is pretty good as well

    Hillbilly (We all knew it)

Nurse (Oh god a killer that takes skill!!! how is that possible!? yes i know)

Spirit (Kinda braindead but not having any problem with her rn)

    Freddy (Aka braindead killer)

Huntress (She probably doesn't have good map pressure, but she has a ranged power and has kill pressure, she can throw hatchets from the other side of the map)

Hag (Pretty good killer, high tier)

    Doctor

Ghostface (Using the tru3ta1ent build and playstyle)

Where are the "3 viable killer" honey? 10 viable killers!!! and they're going to rework the weak one... that you dont know how to properly play them doesn't mean they suck :)

Stop trying to ruin the game and git gud and l2p killers, not all of them should be braindead like freddy

    Screw freddy.

    <----trapper main /kefka laugh.

  • Survivors can go perkless and still win. We shouldnt have to use specific killers to stand a chance.

Do you use noed and are scared that you perk can get nerfed one day?

Is like me complaining about X perk that is strong but I dont use it, I dont need to care about it.... why do you care so much about NOED?

I care about this game. I want it to improve but there are a large collection of bias mains that only want their side buffed. This game is survivor sided as sin.

Theres like 19 killers and only 3 are strong at end game.

    Matches end in 4 mins

Survivors have 16 perks to the killers 4

Look at how long survivor que times are?

The list goes on but despite all of that. This forum is filled with people who actually believe killer is the power role. Instead of gitting gud people beg for nerfs. As if the idea they made a mistake never crossed their mind. When i play survivor i suck at dodging chainsaws but i dont scream "billy is op, plz nerf"

Stop trying to ruin the game and cleanse the bones.
