  • I feel her nerf is a double edged sword.

There's less people using her because she isn't OP anymore. However this also makes the ones that were good with her without 4X blinks are able to stand out from the crowd.

As for the rework itself I feel they could have just touched her add ons and left her base kit. It feels really punishing now if you miss a blink.

What world are you in? Killer queues have been instant for months.

Im in the newb ranks. I said in my post I havent played in like 8 months and it brought me back to rank 18. Maybe at purple and red my que times will be instant. I imagine not many want to play killer after the ruin nerf.

However being at this rank, with these long que times and I'm still being paired against people I was at red ranks. What was the point of coming back? No matter my rank it's a coin toss who I get paired against. One match it could be 16's, next it's reds. The game doesn't even take me into consideration. I'm just thrown at the first 4 people in line regardless if it's fair. For me or them. Do I have to play frequently every month, get back to r1 only to have the privilege of not having to wait 8 mins to play against the same people I was facing at rank 18?

Is that all rank is now for killer? The higher the rank the less you have to wait.

"As for who you face? That will be the same no matter where you are."

  • This is just my opinion. All speculation. I have zero evidence to back this up. It's just what I think is going on.

BHVR stumbled onto a gold mine when they made DBD. They did not expect it to be a successful as it is.

They improve it by adding more characters. This involves more perks.

So many people have put plenty of hours into the game that they know more than the devs. (Look at some of the patches that were reverted within a week. Makes me question who thought that was a good idea? "Flash lights are not OP" says Kote. /gets his ass handed to him by a bunch of Koreans with flashlights. /flashlights get nerfed the next day)

The more perks they add the more complex the game becomes to balance. (Really, when they make a new survivor I dont think they even consider the ramifications of mixing their new perks with current ones. By itself a perk my by fine. Old MoM for example. When combined with DS, Adren and BT it becomes broken)

The devs realized they don't know how balance their game so they start working on death garden.

Death garden is not a success so they put their attention back to dbd

They realize people are tired of waiting for the game to be fixed so they leave.

BHVR has given up on balancing the game and instead they are focusing on new killers/survivors/maps every few months. Particually licensed characters because they draw a crowd. They went from balancing a game to having a steady influx of new players to keep the flame burning.

BHVR is going to ride this out for as long as they can. Until they come up with a new gold mine or the game eventually dies.

  • One example of the need to see players skill is when I was playing overwatch. Their match making would constantly pair me against people who had triple the amount of play time I had. The games hidden SR stat is suppose to compare my performance to the world average and if I did better my SR goes up. If I did worse than average it goes down. Being paired against people who had over 1000 hours into the game when I had barely 200 just made me ask

"Am I being matched with these people because I'm good and I deserve to be here? Or is it because the MM sucks and I'm only cannon fodder for them?"

  • It's not ruin that I am mad about. It's the fact the devs favor new survivors above balancing their game. Ruin was never a problem to people who knew how to play.

The bigger issue is gens get done way too fast depending on the killer you are using. Ruin didn't even help with the problem, it just acted as a band aid.The devs took off said band aid without addressing the wound underneath. The outright truth is some killers need more time because they lack mobility or their power doesn't help them in a chase. If the survivors know how to play the killer is going to lose because he/she simply can't pressure everyone. The devs only play at new ranks where the killer is dominating only because the survivors are making mistakes left and right. So they assume killer is OP so they nerf killer or make it easier for survivor. Thus making the game nearly unplayable against survivors who aren't potatoes. This is why you see the top 3 killers at red ranks most of the time. If it feels more frustrating than fun to play as a non meta killer people will get sick of being looped to death. They will then play something else and survivors cant find a game. But the devs dont care because they only want to draw in new players.

This game is a revolving door. New players come in, old players walk out when they realize they are not wanted.

  • It's still a horrible map for trapper.

Why bother putting the time in to a skilled killer to then have the devs gut it. All that hard work for nothing.

It ain't exactly the first time the devs have done this......

Yes, hitting great skill checks is the true test of skill lol.

I like how people constantly say playing survivor is brain dead easy all you do is hold m1 and then act like being able to "perfect" pressing a button at a certain time is the hallmark for skill.

Ruin was a brain dead crutch for killers and now the new version actually requires some input. You've still got NOED and moris to buy you 1-2 more unearned kills, don't worry!

NOED is in the same boat as ruin. It's a hex perk. Depending on the killer I face I cleanse totems for fear of NOED. If it's someone with a one shot I dont bother. Point is NOED is only a free kill if survivors make the mistake of not cleansing totems. Once again, survivors have all the power in a game that's 4 vs 1.

Moris.........okay those are quite cheesy. Im sitting on dozens of those cause I don't use them so you can remove them for all I care. Now if it's a mori from DH cause I managed to get 5 stacks. I earned that :P

Idk from my experience playing killer and survivor and going on reddit/fourms no one really complained about ruin and i do know that bl and instaheals were broken and i agree the ruin nerf is not needed. i called you a killer main cause your name is babyonimain and i don't see people who play both that often. I guess i shouldnt assume cause my name is toxicnancymain yet i play both sides. Sorry if i sounded a bit entitled but i do agree with you.do people really complain about ruin on PC? lol (im xbox)

The only people who complained about ruin were survivors who couldnt hit great skill checks and killers who had a survivor spawn right on top of the totem.

I personally prefer intervention and pgtw.

  • Que times suck so much for killer right now that I don't know who has the luxury of lobby dodging. I just bring franklins. When they drop the thing they are like "Lost! My precious is lost!!!!!"

    @ppo8820 said:

Lol they do NOT like having to work at getting kills in the game. For so long it was easy 4ks every game, but then things started changing. So now instead of adapting or perfecting skills, they just lobby dodge and complain on this forum. (Winners huh?) lol

Sad thing is they’re just screwing themselves over in the long run because as game evolves, they won’t be able to keep up as they never “got gud”.

After the ruin nerf, survivor have no rights to complain about anything. It's fairly obvious who the devs like in this dis-functional family.

I came back to killer after a long break. I was back to rank 18. One match I was up against two purples and two red ranks. I've been to R1 before so it's not like I havent face these kinds of survivors before but can you at least try to not make it look like I only exist so survivors can have fun. This is only making me want to go back to playing what I was on my break. News flash. I can always get survivors to play with. You can't find more of me's as easily cause I'm the minority.

  • Bubba with insidious, iron grasp, agitation and monstrous shrine.

  • I came back to killer after a 8 month break. I was back to rank 18 -.-

5 matches in a row I was faced with new people. I genuinely felt bad I was beating the crap out of them. So next game I switched killers and tried a joke build. After 8 mins of looking for a match the game paired me with all purple and red ranks at rank 16 -.- No gen regression perks, crappy hex perks, nothing to help me in a chase. I got several hooks but only 1 kill and a safety pip.

So to answer the OPs question, what was the dumbest thing I have done as killer?

I felt sorry for the survivors.(Never again!)

  • I have 3 for killer.

Blood Warden. The look on their faces when they teabag at the gates and realize they can't get out. Priceless.

Not a bad perk but MYC on my Nurse. They can't call me a camper or tunneler because I'm leaving the hook asap then coming back for the "healthy" survivor because it makes no difference to me.

Devour Hope. If I get 3 stacks they ######### their pants when they get that notice. If I somehow get 5 after that it's bragging rights cause I had to work for it. "Just because ruin is gone doesn't mean you shouldn't look for totems. You let me get that mori" :P

  • TL:DR

She got nerfed pretty hard but it won't affect the people who were good with her before that patch. Now she's so unforgiving people don't want to learn her. The majority of this community wants it easy, both sides.

The problem with any gaming community is the mentality. When the meta gets nerfed it could be a minor change that hardly affects it. But if someone says "Oh this character isnt viable anymore" then the group tends to believe what was said without actually trying it out themselves.

It's gaming in general. What my buddies from FF11 used to call "Victims of Strategy Guides" Instead of playing a game and figuring out what works, they go to twitch or youtube and copy someone else.

  • I mostly take it off. I was using intervention on some of my killers before the rework so it's not that different for me. I pretty much always bring pgtw now. I want to try the ruin+surveillance build but I don't feel like double downing on a hex perk.

On a side note I like to mess around with DH. I was running that with intervention because if there is no notice I'm seeing survivors don't go out of their way to do totems. Unless they stumble upon it I can usually get 3 stacks and by then I can guard it. Now that ruin is ######### they suspect DH even less. It's kind of funny. Until the devs hear the survivors complain then they will get a notice about DH at 1 stack -.-

    Stop holding their hands devs!
