Giving the killer no better option than to tunnel whoever was just unhooked?

Yeah this feels like a selfish perk. I can already tell you if you unhook someone and sprint away. Even with BT it's quicker for me to go after the injured person. Sure both survivors would take 2 hits but I'm closer to the one who was unhooked. It would be quicker for me to hit the BT and hit them again instead of chase down the person who made the rescue.

    We practically do this now.

When someone makes a thread complaining about something I tend to look out the amount of posts they have.

Do you see the discrepancy there?

Well I meant we already judge people by how many posts they have. If we added a way to link to your steam profile it would get even worse.

I'm with @Orion & @EvilJoshy on this. I'd be fine for linking your game accounts to the forum - great way to stop all the alternate accounts that get created! But having stats to show who was worthy to give an opinion (which is what it would boil down to), would be pretty bad and create something completely elitist.

New players are just as important as veteran players and their opinion is just as valid - having stats showing on the forums would get those newer players points of view completely written off.

The whole "stats on show" would just make the discussions a big "I've got 2 more hours than you so I know better" type of thing, which isn't what we are looking for here at all.

We practically do this now. When someone makes a thread complaining about something I tend to look out the amount of posts they have. If it's 1 then I assume it's a new player that doesn't know what they're talking about or it's an alt account. If we link they're profile to their forum account I can picture majority of people will set their profile to private and people will assume "Your new aren't you? That's why your profile is set to private"

  • @Orion said:

Nah. I'd rather not give people a new excuse for dismissing comments/users they don't like. This would just drive up the elitism.

Im kinda on the same page. Yes linking your profile to your stats would weed out the newbies claiming they know what they're talking about but it cuts both ways. I tried getting into Star Craft 2's forums and anytime I posted an idea or my opinion on something. The first thing people did was look at my profile and saw I didn't have 10000+ battles under my belt and my opinions were automatically dismissed.

  • Like everyone said. If you've never faced a particular killer before then a loading tip will appear in the loading screen. You stop getting those tips once you face that killer about 5 times. In my SWF we got a friend who rarely plays and he often gives us a heads up "were facing a trickster, twins, PH" ect. I wouldn't call it an exploit because it's built into the game and they don't find out until the match is loading in. By then you can't change your perks to counter said killer.

Now if say you were doctor and magically ALL 4 survivors were running calm spirit. Then id say that was a hack for they had no way of knowing prior to change their perks. NO ONE runs calm spirit out of the blue, let alone all 4 survivors.

  • I just love it when the bloodweb refuses to give me a certain perk I want on a particular killer until they are like lvl 90.

  • I don't know how popular or unpopular he is but I sometimes watch TheEntityLeftHand because he roleplays and he mains trapper. Sometimes he makes me laugh.

  • If people want LGBTQ characters in a horror game then they have to accept the fact some bad #@$% might happen to them.

  • I really don't understand the mindset of a survivor. They complain all they see are Spirit. Then when a low tier killer gets buffed to viable, so there's other killers at red ranks, they want it reverted. It's starting to feel like all they want are killer bots.

  • I'm not thrilled at all. A new DLC for Phoenix Point is coming out tomorrow. I'm more interested in that than this games next chapter. They disappointed me with the last 2. They will have to outdo themselves to get my hopes up.

  • The devs have a history of stealth buffing/nerfing stuff. At first it would be introduced as a bug. Then if the backlash isn't substantial they would then say it's "working as intended".

  • Just because its used often is not grounds to nerf it. At higher ranks some form of slowdown is damn near required to bring. A better solution is to buff other perks so theres more options.

  • The current MM favors faster que times over fairness.

  • I feel licensed chapters are just ways to attract fresh meat for the grinder to keep the game going. Instead of fixing the foundation they're putting a fresh coat of paint on it.

It was me that got hit and I was full health. Then I noticed the other survivors receiving one hit KOs

Did the demo have NOED or 3 stacks of devour hope, anything that causes expose? That would explain the one shot downs.

  • As a killer I think I am rank 8. Mid Purple range. I play as well as I can but at the same time I don't want to be up against a try hard squad every match. I like being chill. Which is why I don't hit r1 often. Once it gets very frustrating I play something else. Although I don't use meta killers most of the time I can mind game but I also screw up at it. I have a bad habit of anticipating where the survivor will run, only to be proven wrong and I end up losing them.

As a survivor it's very iffy. Id say green rank if I am being honest. I can run the killer on a good chase sometimes but other times I run to a dead zone. It gets so bad I find myself bringing windows of opportunity to help counter it. I also tend to loop not as efficiently as others can do it to me. I either don't hug the wall enough to get that extra loop before getting hit or I hug it too tight and get caught on something. Most of the time I am the rescuer. I am usually the guy who always brings BT. When someone is hooked I often make the save. Though I am smart enough to determine when it is safe and when I should not make the attempt. If I make the save and the killer comes back I try my best to grab their attention or take a protection hit. I almost always play in a swf because randoms suck which plays a huge factor in how well my matches go.

  • I was running from a killer in the shop on autohaven and when i went to the window. I accidentally pushed the button too soon and jumped in the locker instead -.-

  • @Nebula said:

Some kind of early game mechanic that incentivizes the survivors to do other things first

Possibly find parts to fix the generators

This or some sort of program that watchs the flow of the match and adjusts things accordingly. Like the Director from left 3 dead. If the killer is busy chasing 1 person while the other 3 are each on a gen. The Entity slows progression slighty. Vice Versa. If the killer has 4 hooks and only one gen has been completed, repairs gets a boost.

  • One game last night i hooked a david and left. He got saved for my 3rd stack. I couldnt find anyone else so i went back to the hook. I saw the feng who saved him. She butt danced to get my attention. I dont think she was expecting to go down in one swing

  • I'm not too concerned with who the new killer is. So long as they are viable. The last 2 killers were trash tier. If this is a trickster wearing Mr Xs skin then I'll keep my money.

I just came back to play this game, and i still notice that i'm matched against red rank survivors as yellow-green rank killer. Devs i have very bad news...... the matchmaking system is still not working. I'm sorry please don't be depressed, just give it another go. Thanks!

UPDATE: GOOD NEWS! The in-game shop is working as a charm!

Don't know how long you were gone but the good news is you only get hit by DS if you are actually tunneling now :)

  • @ChiSoxFan11 said:

I don't know where all of these lobbies are that have continual face-camping/ tunneling killers -- that's almost unbelievably bad luck (I guess).

I play 20-25 hours a week of survivor with anything ranging from a 2-person SWF to a 4-person SWF and pretty much never see a face-camper. Tunneling is occasionaly a hazard (I do run DS for a reason, as do most of my teammates), but while it happens here and there, it's definitely not every match (this is at Red Rank -- my assumption is that the ranks further down, it's much more of a problem.

I played almost 14 hours on Thursday, 8 and a half of which was as survivor. There was the occasional tunnel of either myself or my teammates, and the occasional area camper, but zero face campers. As said, I haven't seen a face-camper in one of my matches for literally months, and I play a TON.

My opinion the majority of killers who face camp are newbs. Most of the survivors they are facing are also newbs. At higher ranks you hardly every see a face camper because survivors know to do gens and get out. If face camping is such a massive problem for newer players than the solution is they need to stop falling for it. Face camping only works if you stop doing gens or hook rush the killer. If you stop making it a viable strategy than that killer will eventually learn "This isnt working. I better try something else"

  • It be nice but your asking to buff a killer perk that discourages camping(that has numerous counters already). Good luck getting survivors to approve of it.

  • When Evil Within 2 came out I thought Stefano would make a good killer for DBD. In the game he has various trip wires attached to cameras. If you trip one the camera flashes you and time stops for a few seconds. Setting you up to get hit by something. When he killed somebody he had a camera on like record. In a square space where the death occurred it was like a block where time was playing in a loop. The victim was dead but their death animation was being played over and over.

  • Takes too long to setup

Experienced survivors know most of the places he can trap. So only random spots will catch people.

Even in grass people can see his traps without a tar bottle

Headsets completely negate his power. If one person see's him set a trap then they all know where it is.

Without bloody coil there is no danger to disarm his traps. Making him powerless.

As for what i would do to make him viable. There really needs to be some early game warm up like the devs have been talking about for years. He needs to be able to carry 2-3 traps by default. He should start with his traps or refill them at a locker. I dont want to give him a teleport like freddy but he needs more mobility to better apply pressure. I would add skill checks when disarming a trap. Similar to overcharge on a gen. Add ons and certain perks shrink the size of the bar.

  • I try to mix up my perks from time to time. The issue is when i try a non meta build i get destroyed half the time. This makes me put back on my real perks to stand a chance.

  • One thing id like to add. I never say gg ez. To me, saying ez is like saying "you suck"

  • If I am playing alone I am killer. If friends are on I am survivor. I am fair minded when it comes to balance but I often find myself siding with killers. On the flip side when someone suggests a buff to a killer I will point out if I feel that would be OP or broken.

I am a good sport but I am also vengeful if I am mistreated. I play to the best of my ability but I am here to have fun. Your fun is not my concern. If your being rude I will return the favor in kind. I will play in a way that helps me fulfill my objective. Often my decisions are considered toxic but this is someone's salty opinion because I am not playing the way they want me to.

    • If you got unhooked and touched a gen I will go after you because your injured and I know you don't have DS.
    • If your looping me near a hooked survivor I won't walk away because I am pressuring 2 people at once.
    • If someone rescued you, I can't find the savior but I see your blood trail then I am going after you because there is no one else to chase.

Yes. I know I don't have to P3 a character but I am worried it will come back to haunt me in the future. Say I cap someone at lvl 50 and unlock all perks for them. Then one day I decide I want that bloody cosmetic. All those points I poured into them dug me a deeper hole. It's exactly like when I played CoD. I prestige and immediately say "I want my guns back"

Not really. Unless someone is clearly cheating which I have only seen happen maybe twice. If someone is playing in a style I don't enjoy I ask myself "Would I do the same in their position?". I get frustrated a lot at the balance of the game but I usually play something else before I reach a boiling point.

Very rarely. I bought the ashy slashy puppet because I liked that series. I bought the Nurse's blight costume because I liked the look of it. I will tell myself "This isn't worth it" and not buy something. I can unlock the twins and trickster for free and I haven't because I feel they aren't worth my money. If I feel this is a predatory practice then I won't buy it. I've waited 1 year to play games because EPIC pulled their 1 year exclusive crap and I refuse to put that launcher on my PC. A lot of my friends said the same thing but almost all of them caved in because they don't want to wait.

4,5k hours and I can count the cheaters I encountered on two hands...

I only have 1k and I've only run into maybe 2 people who were certainly hacking. I've been accused of hacking numerous times but the truth is I don't know how to do that. Those people I faced just sucked.

  • The rank 16 who knew every loop. That's probably someone who took a long break and recently felt the urge to play again. I do that quite often. I'll leave for 6-8 months then when I come back I've deranked a lot. Rank really means nothing. Only time played consecutively.

As for sweaty swfs. Sadly there's nothing you can do except practice. It doesn't get easier. You just get better but at times it is still unfair. This game does not care about your side because you are the minority. Survivors are 4/5s their customers and from a business stand point, you shouldn't piss off the majority of your customers. Look what happened to Star Wars and Star Trek over the past decade :P

If your rank 13 and four R1s are waiting 10 minutes for a game, the MM is going to tell you to take one for the team. Then it happens again, and again and again until you get tired of it and the devs wonder why hardly anyone is playing killer. It took them 4 years to finally balance DS. Ruin+Undying took not even 4 months.

For hate messages I am at the point where I feed off their malice. The trick is to never engage in conversation with them because there is no reasoning with them. Send a report for harassment, block them then move onto the next game. No matter what people say this is a competitive game because 2 sides with opposing objectives are pitted against one another. Don't ever let your opponent tell you how you should play. Their fun is not your concern. They did not buy your copy of the game and have no right to determine where your money takes you. Do whatever is best for your objective at the time.

  • I often ask myself the same question. When I'm playing killer most of the survivors are running meta perks. Yet when I am playing survivor I get red rank potatoes that touch a gen and fail a skill check. When I play killer and face a meta squad it forces me to ask "Where were these people when I was trying to play survivor?"

  • When someone teabags at the exit gate and then realize I'm using Blood Warden

  • @NomiNomad said:

    I mean...

    That entirely depends on EA.

I doubt BHVR would want to pay EA's insane prices to use one of their franchises. I forget which youtuber it was but he had an excellent analogy for EA.

"If Activison, 2K and Ubisoft are huey dewey and louie. EA is Scrooge McDuck."

The fact Dead Space 3 ending on a cliff hanger and they shutdown the studio. You know EA will still set some outrageous cost to use someone from that series.

  • This feels more like the data was taken after the patch not before. When DS was abusable I swear I was running into 2-4 DS's every single game. Now I see it like 24% of the time but before I couldn't get into a match without someone running it.

  • We are products of our environment. We were not born ######### killers, we were made into ones by toxic survivor mains.

Until the objective power of SWF is addressed either via a nerf (somehow) or by buffing Solo Q, we shouldn't adjust anymore Killers.

Every rework either solidifies SWF'S state in the game or makes the Solo experience more miserable.

No new Killer reworks should be done until we make Solo = SWF.

Once they are on an even playing field, we can talk about more reworks.

I just want to say I agree but I also don't want solo to be brought "up" to SWFs power lvl. I would like SWF to be brought "down" to solo's power or somewhere in-between. If solo was made as strong as SWF is right now then nobody would play killer.

  • Use more budget to hire more balance testers. No point in making more legendary skins if the game doesn't work.

  • Id like to think it goes back and forth. However seeing as how there are 4 survivors for every 1 killer. Id say it's more survivor sided. From a business stand point, why would you upset 4/5s of your customers?

I wouldn't be surprised, all because of a certain dev that I won't name, but we all know who I'm talking about.

"Yee who shall not be named" :P

  • If the new killer is as bad as the last 2 chapters. I will be disappointed but not surprised.

  • I agree other exhaustion perks could use some buffs but not to DH level. That would be like making all killer's Nurse lvl.

  • You know what would be really terrifying? If there's a dev that actually believes this is a good build.

  • @Yaassin_q8 said:

Say everything you want about improving the game (nerfs-buffs-ideas) even map ideas

What I think would really improve this game is devs that actually play both sides at rank 1.

  • 1 second difference? It's enduring all over again. I guess you'll have to not get caught.

  • Just because you hear the heartbeat doesnt mean they are coming to your gen. The killer could have a massive tr like doc with monitor and abuse. The killer could be chasing someone else that runs by you. If it's an indoor map like the game, I constantly hear the heartbeat but I am uncertain which floor they are on. SB allows you to work on a gen and if the killer does walk around the corner you can try to get to a safe tile before they land the first blow. If they get a hit before the chase begins then they cut the chase time in half. Besides as a killer, id rather have survivors use SB over DH.

  • I vote agitation because of the speed bonus. Once in awhile as I am carrying someone I can catch up to somebody and get a hit in and stil make the hook. With IG I only make the hook. Catching someone doesn't happen much with IG.

  • It's why I enjoy blood warden. It's very hard to get it to go off but when you do. It's hilarious.

  • The game is very dark on switch? Is that why coldwind now has sunlight? Instead of making the game work on the switch their solution is to make everything brighter :P

  • @Phasmamain said:

Sprint burst is still better IMO since it can end the chase before it even starts

I've been running SB instead of DH lately. I like the fact if a killer gets the drop on me while working on a gen. I can take off before they get a hit in. Getting hit before the chase begins literally cuts the chase time in half.

The only time I hate DH is when I'm facing a killer like Billy or Bubba. They don't even need to M1 you. They can just get right up on your backside and chainsaw.
