Yeah because destroying a hex totem is hard enough as it is already, especially when it doesn't spawn right in front of you at the beginning of the round. Same thing with disarming the bear traps without the killer having bloody coil.

One, double post. Two, You must be insanely lucky, because I've literally never had a hex totem spawn that close or obviously for me. Regular totems, sometimes. And I run small game on half my builds, to help me find them.

and three, with his change, he's now able to hear the trap from space anywhere on the map, so that part is already a huge bonus for him. And this was partly RNG, but it was a smaller map (the gas station, I forgot the name), so he could literally cross the map and still get there in time to down the person before they broke it.

My issue isn't that he could protect it in general. My issue is that he was able to so completely protect it with a single trap. Doubly on such a small map.

In multiple games, I've had a hex totem revealed as the camera spins around at the beginning of the match. In MANY more games, I've stumbled across a hex totem while walking to my first gen.

So many hex totem spawn points are just ridiculous. Inside a jungle gym right across from a gen. On a hill between a gen and a hook. Against the outside wall of the killer shack. Hell, there's one spawn point on the middle of an open field on the Asylum map, not even a tree beside it.

Gas Heaven isn't really a small map, either. It's right in the middle, with 164 square tiles. The average map size is 160 square tiles.

There are multiple ways to deal with that situation. The easiest is probably to have one person snap the trap, then Self Care while another breaks the totem. If the Trapper gets there before the totem is done, the first person can bodyblock. If you're solo, you'd have to wait for him to get into a chase, then snap and cleanse while he's hooking.

OR, you could just do a gen with Ruin up. On average a Ruin gen takes about 120 seconds instead of 80 seconds, even if you get no Great skill checks.
  • Side Note: Most people seem to think hooking to death always gives more Sacrifice points than a mori. That's not actually true. However, hooking is better for your Malicious Emblem.

If you're interested in the math, a survivor is worth...

    1-hooked and sacrificed: 1100 BP
    2-hooked and sacrificed: 1600 BP
    1-hooked and mori'ed: 1700 BP
    3-hooked and sacrificed: 2100 BP
    2-hooked and mori'ed: 2400 BP

Without a mori, the only way to max out your Sacrifice skill is by 3-hooking all four survivirs.

However, each time you mori you lose access to possible points in your Malicious Emblem. A mori after 1 hook costs you 4 possible Malicious points, after the second hook it costs you 2 possible points (2 for each skipped hook stage).

It takes 36 points to get Iridescent Malicious, so a mori can remove a decent chunk of possible progress there.

And now what? > @Chrona said:

There's one big assumption here: That I was playing SWF. Nope, solo.

I ended up being the distraction, while others broke it, but either way, my problem is less with the addon and his change, but with how he was completely able to block a large objective with a single trap. There's a reason he can't put traps right next to a generator, you know.

And frankly, working through ruin would be fine if it didn't do the whole "and now your progression is completely stopped for 3 seconds" bit. Really fun when you get 5 skillchecks in a row, and you end up back at 0% from 50%, with two people working on it

If you are too bad in hiting skillchecks you can use the accepable exploit and just tap the gen

That's a thing? ...Well, fair enough.

Side note I forgot to mention in the OP, He also brought an ebony mori. But for some reason he chose to hook me to death (on a non-event hook). He mori-ed the first two. I wonder why.

You get more Emblem points for killing on the hook than for doing a mori after the first hook. He may have taken the first two that way to speed up the game, then hooked you to death to make up a bit for the lost points.

As for the trap placement, I say that trapper is just very lucky with map placement.

The only juking avaible is Dance With Me. Maybe Quick & Quiet but i doubt that's called more of a juke. MAYBE Urban Evasion with Iron Will if killer is stupid ;d

People could juke before Kate came out, you know. Q&Q, Lithe, UE, IW, Balanced Landing, and Lightweight have all been in the game since Spark of Madness or earlier.

Lithe over a vault, hide behind a rock with UE. Saturate the scratch marks, then Q&Q into a locker or through a window. Hit with a pallet, then drop down a level with Balanced and Lightweight. Let the killer hit you, then vault a window and UE away with IW.

You don't even need any of those to saturate an area with scratch marks, hide in a corner until the killer passes you, then run the other way. IW if you're injured, but even then it depends more on the map and your clothes.

The tools are there, but IMO people don't really TRY to juke.

Well, if I'm not wrong, then the killer has been already revealed in some way, shape, or form. A user created a post claiming how we don't know much about the Chapter 9 killer. So, not_Queen (the official community manager) stated that the answer is already out there. So lets gather some thoughts and try to decipher this. We heard about a teacher killer or something along those lines, but what else? Is that the killer? What do you guys think?

I dont know, but i want Chucky <3

I just got a mental picture of the Entity cranking the hook down so Chucky can reach it, then back up to get the survivor's feet off the ground.
  • Seems to work well on trapper if your running the addin that injures those who disarm traps and trap the items they drop XD

And on Hag, they lose you and run back for the item, SURPRISE.

I'm just gonna remind you another discussion of yours: "AM I A COWARD FOR RUNNING AWAY AFTER THE GENS ARE POWERED? IF THERE ARE PEOPLE ON HOOKS BUT FAR AWAY"

There is a middle ground there, you know.

    Say you're a solo survivor with a 3-man SWF.

What if that SWF group was sandbagging and hook farming you the whole match? I think either response (die and watch them fail, or escape and leave them behind) is appropriate.

I've had that happen. I've also had a game where I had Kindred 3 but sat on the hook for 2 minutes watching them unhook their friends and ignore me.

Both of those cases are prime examples of SWF being selfish and only playing for their friends.

Personally I just go straight to the next match, but sometimes schadenfreude can be cathartic.

Having not played on PC I wasn't aware that she wasn't base character and as I said I am glad to know ways to fight back I have urban evasion equipped. How does it work if she has the hex/trap right in front of someone on a hook I play with 3 to 4 friends so we usually are in party chat to communicate when the killer leaves. But the hexs always screw me up unhooking.
For unhooking, you need to hold the crouch button through the whole animation, and the person being unhooked needs to be holding the crouch button before the animation is complete.

Or I just suck at this game xD. I'm playing for a week and usually I'm rank 12-13. Managed to get to 11 one time.

Can I get better with time or I'm gonna be stuck at the same rank forever? I know lots of people here say rank is not important but what else is there to achieve? I can just have fun and all that but I think I will be bummed If I don't reach rank 5 at least. Probably.
Honestly ranking up in this game as survivor is a blessing and a curse. The better your rank the faster generators get done. At the same time though most players are less altruistic and more on the toxic side of the spectrum.

If that doesn't deter you though then I recommend the following tips:

    - Wait until the Killer patrols past you before starting repairs. (Decreases odds you will be found first.)

    - Watch Usslyis's pallet tutorial to master the art of looping. (If you want to get out alive jukes are recommended, though if you want to rush gens loop their brains out.)

    - Master skill checks for optimal gen repair speed.

    - If less than 3 generators remain try to find totems. (If the killer uses NOED it'll counter gen rush.)

    - Don't do anything you'd consider "toxic". ( If you don't teabag the killer then there's less chance they'll camp you.)
This is all very good advice, especially the bit about watching Usyllis. Not just the looping video, most of his guides are very good.

When I first started I was absolute crap on survivor. It took a while to get comfortable with being chased, and I still prefer losing the killer quickly if I can.
  • Bloodhound is absolutely vital on a killer like Michael because you can’t afford to find a survivor, chase them, hit then, chase them some more, lose them, and they get healed.

Match is over at that point.
Trying to keep multiple people hurt is actually now a viable tactic thanks to Sloppy Butcher. Especially on Myers with M&A and/or NC (So you can disengage and find them later while they arent sure if you are still around or left)

and Freddy (same reason but huge hit and run potential, dream slowdown stacked with mangled  keeps them hurt for ages)
To be honest I never understood the bleeding part of sloppy butcher
Its not that bad for tracking on Autohaven Wreckers, Lerys and the game.
    How does it work though
It simply increases the frequency of the visible blood pools on the ground that injured survivors leave. You can track survivors by simply following the blood so the increased amount allows you to track them much easier.
To me its not even about the frequency of bleeding, it's about the extra 6 seconds it takes to Self Care.
  • It's worth it for Myers with Bamboozle and extended EW3. I think you actually vault faster than survivors with those two perks in EW3. Any other killer? Meh.
  • Im going Hex: Ruin, Hex: Devour Hope, Hex: Lullaby and Bloodhound and the bloody coil and the game map offering one day.
Go all the way! Use Hex: The Third Seal instead of Bloodhound, and use Iridescent Stone. As long as it's up 3rd Seal is a better version of Knock Out (assuming you've hit everyone), so you can leave someone down to go protect another totem.

Not sure why people find Kate so attractive. Guess I was always more attracted to brunettes. I'd highly recommend Jake for iron will and calm spirit if you don't have them already, seems like the best perks given the ones you have already.
Even if it comes around likes, she is the one with the best graphics and the one that looks the least like a stick figure.
That, and I'm using a cosmetic on her that gives her a light brown ponytail instead of the curly blonde mess.

As for which survivor to level, I'd say Jake for Iron Will, Tapp for Tenacity, Kate for Dance With Me.

You may think Kate's perks suck, but pair Dance With Me and Lithe to see just how quickly you can lose a killer. A couple of nights ago I was playing Kate with just DWM 1 and IW 3 (and a couple of other random non-chase perks). Multiple times per match I watched from a hiding spot while the killer tried to figure out where I disappeared to. I want to try DWM, Lithe, IW, and UE to see just how ninja I can be, but I don't have all those perks on her yet.

As for killer, I guess it depends on who you like to main. M&A is useful on a number of killers, especially Myers and Hag. MYC is amazing on Hag and Nurse, and it seems like you play both of those. M&A plus MYC is half of the current meta for Hag.

Perfect... So we can all ban Toxic players IP's so they realize that they shouldn't be toxic.... Therefore leading the game towards a better place. PERFECT. I think every1 should use this.

I don't think you understand. Blocking some1's IP using a program that comes with your modem/router is not illegal in any way. Sort of like blocking ports.

If all 24,000 players played with a wallhacker just once and blocked him it would take around 6,000 games for him to never get a lobby. In any case, we would be that much closer to making a cheater quit.

There's a very simple reason it's banned... Because the devs say it's banned. No other reason is needed.

Your excuse of blocking a wallhacker sounds great at first glance. Unfortunately, that's not what happened with MLGA. Instead, survivors would block a killer for playing Nurse, or using Ruin, or just being better than them. Killers would block a survivor for looping, or teabagging, or just being better than them.
  • minsc said:
Pretty sure they don't want you to body block that's why there's a ways to report body blocking because it's abusive to mechanics of the game play look in the report option you'll see it
The official position is that survivors bodyblocking a killer while they are carrying someone to the hook or chasing another survivor is fine, because the killer can hit you to make you move.

Whether you are playing killer or survivor, bodyblocking a survivor into a position they cannot escape and holding them there without recourse is reportable. Since they have no way of forcing you to move, you are holding them hostage.

A killer can bodyblock a survivor for a short time, say long enough for BT to run out or to charge a chainsaw. However, trapping a survivor in the basement and refusing to kill them is reportable.
  • I played Hag before the buff. Now... :chuffed:

Waterlogged shoe has always sucked. It wouldn't be too bad if it still allowed you to teleport (maybe with the old pause after a teleport), but as a chase-only add-on, ugh.

As for Insidious, not really. It gives a visual and audio cue when you teleport, and the phantasm has it's own heartbeat so that suddenly ending would be another clue.

She can have up to 10 traps set on the map at once.
I'm well aware of that. The OP was saying she should be nerfed to 3 traps only, which is what i was laughing at.
  • I've never cared to put up with it. Just whack them and move on to the next game.

Same here. Its just not worth it.
  • Sounds like MLGA. As far as I know, the devs withdrew approval for that program when the IP blocking feature was added, so it's not allowed.

  • From your wording, I'm not sure if you are referring to the medkit itself or an add-on that you placed on the medkit.

If you still have the medkit when you escape, it should keep any add-ons you put on it. If you use up the medkit in-game, you lose the whole thing along with any add-ons. If it's a brown medkit it only has enough charges to heal you one time, then it's gone forever.

You also lose the medkit if you drop it (regardless of whether it was dropped intentionally or forced by Franklin's Demise).

Because D-strike basically renders the hard work i spent chasing you down twice completely irrelevant. D-strike is also why you get camped on the hook assuming i'm not running Dying Light or Remember me. Dying Light makes camping you to death a priority.

No killer that wants to win or advance runs those perks.

I would like to see where you get your information because it seems you are assuming that those perks are useless. Dying Light with thanatophobia, distressing, and colourophobia do wonders. Remember me with NOED and Blood Warden and bitter murmur are used in endgame builds.

Every discussion I throw out, idea I offer and a lot of people on here (and I've seen on youtube) run nothing but Hex ruin, Enduring, BBQ, and some other ranking killer perk for the build.

I have a lot of reason to believe so.

Hi, I play Hag. I run Monitor & Abuse, Make Your Choice, A Nurse's Calling, and Sloppy Butcher. I almost never run BBQ and I only run Ruin if I don't have another slowdown perk.

Now you have reason to believe differently.

    "EZEZEZEZEZEZ NOOOB REKT"

So you admit bad killers can still hit rank 1? Nice, game hasn't been that unbalanced for killers after all...

What if he got R1 on Nurse and did Insidious Leatherface for memes? You don't know.

And yes, it is possible to get R1 on any killer. Most of them depend on survivors acting dumb to pip up, some can take down even competent survivors, but only one can reliably take down a full organized SWF.

I'm not the one who assumed it was a bad killer, RSB did, that's why i said that.

    Apologies, I misread that.
  • I do that sometimes, usually as either "GG" or "sorry for slugging you as bait" or "sorry your teammates were idiots".

Most of the time I just hook the third person and go around breaking gens and pallets while the last guy finds the hatch. If I finish all that and he still isn't gone, I'll try to hunt him down. After that, it depends... If I think he was trying to hold the game hostage, hook. If I think he just couldn't find the hatch, hatch.
  • There is a simple chart in my head for these situations:

    Do i have WGLF?
If yes, i'll go for it no matter what.

If no, did he help me during the round?

If yes, i'll go for it.
    If not, let him die.
I have a similar mental chart,  with the added entry of "Do I have BT?"

Youre not obligated to rescue anyone from the hook. You'll likely get some salt from the hooked survivor, but it's entirely your choice.

Personally, I'll usually give a "Hail Mary" try for it. Sometimes it works, sometimes we trade places, sometimes both of us end up hooked.

Two in particular from last night:

Versus a "facecamping" Huntress (you can't really facecamp anymore, but she was trying) I waited for her to throw an axe at someone else, then unhooked with BT. Everyone escaped.

Versus a Leatherface who played pretty fair I opened the gate, started to run to the basement, and saw him coming at me. I ducked out and the guy who died on the hook was raging about campers and survivors who don't know how to deal with campers. 1. He wasn't camping (because he chased me out the gate) and 2. If a Leatherface DOES want to camp, there's nothing anyone can do about it.

If you feel like you won't be able to rescue them yourself, don't try it. You can maybe try to distract the killer so someone else can rescue, but that's almost as dangerous and might end up with you needing a rescue.

@Esheon Thanks again for the extra tips! I actually only got the game quite recently and like to play a bit of survivor and killer evenly so all of my characters between both are mostly between levels 20-25 at the moment so I haven't learned any teachables so I currently run with Distressing, Overcharge, Bitter Murmur and Unrelenting. It's not the best thing I could run but I don't have much else to work with unfortunately. :(

Considering you're only working with Doctor and Universal perks, that's not really a bad build. Distressing and Overcharge help slow down gens, Distressing and Bitter Murmur help find survivors, and Unrelenting helps a little in a chase. I actually think Unrelenting is an underrated perk, I sometimes use it if I'm getting a lot of twitchy survivors who are good at dodging.

I would keep an eye on the shrine for Unnerving Presence, Ruin, and A Nurse's Calling. If you can buy those on the shrine you won't have to level up those killers to get them.

You get more than a bloody piece of clothing or weapon. Prestiging increases the chance that the more rare items, offerings, and add-ons will appear in your bloodweb.

i have a bunch of stuff prestige while i didn't say the others, i know what else it does for you and it's not that noticeable if you ask me

From what I've heard, P1 gives you 10% increased chance to get uncommons in your bloodweb, P2 gives you a 10% increased chance to get rares and a 20% increased chance to get uncommons, and P3 gives you a 10% increased chance to get very rares, a 20% increased chance to get rares, and a 30% increased chance to get uncommons. It's not even that good unless you're prestiging Billy, LF, or Myers.

I can see the difference between my one P3 character and all my P0 characters. The P0 characters have far more brown items/add-ons/offerings than the P3 character. Right now my only P3 is Claudette, I'm working on Hag (P1 at the moment) for the next one.

I'd argue that for killers, the difference in add-ons can be significant enough to warrant it. Though some still suffer penalties from higher-rarity add-ons (like Doctor electrodes), most would benefit from having higher-rarity version of their base add-on sets.

Hag especially can benefit from getting higher-rarity insects/eggs/necklets than the base. My preferred addons with her are Dried Cicada and Cracked Turtle Egg, both of which are Rare. Having 20% more of those would be nice.

Now, that's not saying I wouldn't like some further bonus. At the very least, I think we should get partial BP credit for each item remaining in our inventory when we prestige.

My previous post was simply stating the fact that you do get more from prestiging than just the bloody clothes, in response to the OP's assertion that you are "starting over just for a bloody piece of clothing".

Uhm ya I'm not lying. Like I said I expect random to be selfish.
The way I see it is how you play is how you think. Some people are trash, some are selfish some are altruistic and others are strategic, are they lying nope. That's just how they think and play.
So you, in real life, would go to the Entity's realm in place of the current survivors? After all that's the question in the original post.

The OP is not asking if you would unhook someone in-game at risk of your character's life. They're were asking if YOU, the person typing that response, would willingly become a survivor in the Entity's realm.

Once again, ITT we have some people who read the thread title, and some who also read the OP.
  • The killer can swing their weapon through a window and hit someone standing on the other side even if they didn't vault. It is an open window, after all.

The issue is latency, and that can only be fixed by having dedicated servers.
  • In this thread, we have some people who read the first post beyond the thread title and some who did not...

If you let Sprint Burst almost recover and then start running around, you can essentially "trigger" Sprint Burst by pausing for a second to allow the last sliver of exhaustion to disappear.

Then that would mean that all you are doing is running around and not getting gens and potentially giving away your location, all for a 3 second run. Sounds kind of idiotic.

It's a tactic for when you want to engage the killer, IMO. If you're just doing it randomly with no plan, it's stupid. But imagine looping a killer who thinks you don't have SB, then SBing away when he thinks he has you. Or, prepping it like that when going in for an unhook, so you can SB away from the unhook even though you ran to the hook.

OMG. You mean you might have a 3 second head start from the killer? I mean, a perk that actually is beneficial. Damn. That's truly terrible. Sounds like the end of the world and the death of DbD.

  • What are you talking about? Sprint Burst is useless (in my opinion)

    Dead Hard is my ❤
If you let Sprint Burst *almost* recover and then start running around, you can essentially "trigger" Sprint Burst by pausing for a second to allow the last sliver of exhaustion to disappear.

EDIT: With Vigil, you can even do it mid-chase. When the killer is trying to mindgame at a downed pallet or around a corner, just pause and look as much as you can to let exhaustion recover. I've gotten 2 Sprint Bursts in a single chase since the exhaustion nerf, and I don't even have Vigil inlocked.
  • Dude, I just started playing this game a few days ago and let me say, who the hell cares? I actually only played as a killer once and thought it was fun but find it to be better as a survivor. Its more challenging and if you get caught guess what? O well, if you get saved then great but in no way do other survivors have to help you from being sacrificed. Its part of the game. I played a game the other day where one survivor did absolutely nothing. You're probably the same type of player who gets on call of duty and complains your team mates suck because they won't revive you when youre downed but youre probably getting downed every 5 seconds. Get over it. Lol
Did you just imply that survivor is more challenging than killer? Imo survivor is the chill part of the game, if you want to relax and have a fun game you play survivor. But killer is so much more stressful because you it’s 4v1 and most killers aren’t OP enough to make it fair!
The important thing there is the "I just started playing the game a few days ago" bit. When you first start playing, at rank 20 with no perks and no experience, survivor is absolutely challenging.

After about 50-100 hours it's not challenging at all.

Best spot of all: Glitched between a rock and a tree making it impossible to be interacted with.
Or stuck in a chair in Lery's, visible to all but untouchable.

The answer is out there, have a closer look!

Im not sure if there is an hint out there or you're just trolling.
I actually hope she's trolling, because that would be hilarious.
  • The best maps for totems are the indoor maps (Lery's and Game), but even those have a few really bad spots.

Exploiting in my eyes is taking advantage and is part if the game. Cheating is different. Toxic strategies are unfun generally but they can be excused by saying oh its a valid strategy. Like one time the killer bodyblocked me in a dead end room for 20 mins with no doors or Windows and refused to hit me ir move then claimed to use strategy when I told him he played unfairly.
Unfortunately, "exploiting" has a definition that is different from that. It is taking advantage of UNINTENDED game features to gain an UNFAIR advantage, and is not allowed.

However, the example you give where the killer blocked you in for 20 minutes without hitting you or moving IS a reportable offense.

    Moris should be removed, tbh.

    I lol'ed.

They've already been drastically nerfed by requiring a hook before you can mori. I like being mori'ed. It's a nice change, especially when a killer uses a green mori on me. It feels like they considered me enough of a threat to forego some points just to get me out of the match.
