  • Sloppy Butcher is the better option and you'll get more value out of it if you stick to your hit and run style

Alternatively, you can use Thana and use the 'Blind Warrior - White' addon which will make it so anyone you hit after briefly after uncloaking becomes mangled, which is sloppy butcher in addon form

Both solid options, but Sloppy is better overall if you ask me!

  • You're out of the loop

The yellow addon has always only given you one extra bear trap if the wiki is to be believed.

You may be mistaking it for another addon?

  • Nick's suit for Ace or Felix would've been awesome.

  • Serious question to Billy players/mains:

Would you rather have some addons that slightly reduce the chainsaw speed by a flat amount but cannot be stacked with one another or would you rather just have the base chainsaw charge speed reduced and have no charge addons of this kind?

  • I consistantly alternate between a state of

"He hasn't been here, so this whole place is safe"

    To

"Holy hell he spawned over here, there could be a trap in basically any of these loops"

    And then sometimes to

"I'm gonna follow him around and disarm all of his traps"

Also whenever i'm against trapper, I develop acute Agrostophobia (Look it up...)

  • Cashel you are a gem on this forum

I'm so thankful you take the time to make these every few weeks. Much appreciated

  • Much appreciated!

By the way fun fact for anyone who doesn't know, codes like this let you bypass the 1 mil BP cap. E.g If you have 1 mil then redeem, it's added on to the 1 mil.

  • All the change does is help solo's find totems and keep track of how many were done

SWF gain basically nothing from it that they couldn't already know with competent communication (Granted not every SWF has that lol)

  • Did I just get clickbaited by the DBD forums...?

(You're totally right tho, that skin is amazing - suits the huntress so well.)

  • Many thanks to the developers for including this change, it's such a better alternative!

My scroll wheel will live to scroll another day.

Thing is, they're not in rework territory though. When you don't camp with them they're fine, and none of the changes that have been made to them since they came out have actually hurt the camping. If anything, the changes have INCENTIVISED Twins players to camp by this last nerf eviscerating Victor's chase.

Yeah I'm confident you're right about that and I respect the POV

I'm just of the belief that the problems with Twins on both sides are fundemental ones, something that changing numbers just won't fix.

  • I don't think you making a video about it is enough for the devs to want to do anything about it.

Twins is one of the least popular killers for probably a lot of reasons and it seems to me like the issues are fundemental. 'Rework' territory for lack of a better term

Doesn't help that Twins is probably one of the hated killers to go against for a lot of people due to their typical playstyle. I don't mean to generalise though, It's not the same for everyone.

  • Still looking for that vending machine.

  • Someone said it looks like the 3 from the RE:3 boxart

Personally if you ask me, it looks like the top of the five is a hat and the curve is the body

    That would indicate Mr. X

    1. Being LGBTQ+ is a very personal and individual experience. It's something that all of us (LGBTQ+ people) interact with differently and express in different ways. For some people it's a big part of their life, for other's it's something they're fairly indifferent to. Whether or not someone's sexual orientation or gender identity has played a big "role" in their life doesn't make them a better or worse example of LGBTQ+ representation. Maybe their identity as a queer person will have a large impact on the character the developers choose to write, maybe it won't - would it really make a big difference either way?
    2. How would a character "completely revolve around being Gay or Bi"? Why would this be a bad thing if it were the case? I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I'm just genuinely curious as to why this would be an issue.
    3. We have lots of things in the lore that really don't play a large role in the characters we see currently. For example, was it necessary that Dwight used to deliver pizzas? Couldn't he have been a waiter, or a cleaner? Would it have really changed the character we see and play? I ask this because at the end of the day, lots of the lore is arbitrary. What's wrong with the lore just being the way it is, just because - must there be a full-on explanation for every minute detail?

For point #2, I believe it's because people want characters that are more than simply 'They're straight' or 'They're gay'. They don't want Lazily made characters that are one note. That's why I would say having a character purely revolve around it would be a bad thing but it's not LGBT exclusive because if you had a character who's ONLY (and I do mean only) thing is 'he's a straight guy' then I think you'll take no issue with me saying that is the most boring concept for a horror character I can think of

The nurse's tome was terrible, the direction they wanted to go in was pretty bad, I agree, but the tome had the elements of telling a great story.

The concept for a backstory of a killer isn't bad necessarily

It's rather that it retroactively ruined the Nurse's original backstory and ruined what sympathy you could have for the character since for a long time she was considered to be one of the more tragic killers

Her Tome seemed to have turned her from 'Suffering woman who snaps' to 'Woman who believes her patients need to die to cull them' or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was so bad the writers addressed it on twitter or something but I can't back that up

You really don't know the writers of this game very well then, do you? They are actually very careful as to what they put into the game, so the mine could represent a large amount of things, and was made of importance in trapper's tome.

    I don't think so

Did you read Nurse's Tome? The whole Eugenics controversy?

It was really out of place and tone-deaf.

I mean he could be, you don't know. I'm also sorry that when I think of a gay person, I usually default to the very flamboyant types, since the gay people I've met are very flamboyant. So is it really my fault to have a slight thought that maybe Trickster is either Bi or Gay? Is that wrong of me to think that? I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I'm just saying.

Stereotyping and generalising isn't really a good thing to do honestly. It promotes ignorance and ignores the individuality of people

People do it in this communtiy all the time outside of discussions like this. You know, all swf players are x, all nurse mains are y and so on.

Yeah I don't like All-Kill either, you're not alone on that

Worst chapter they've ever made in my personal opinion but I can respect people's like of it

I do think you might be overthinking the whole thing though, I'm 100% sure BHVR would just make a normal chapter (in terms of aesthetic, tone, presentation etc) and in the backstory it would talk about them having a partner of the same orientation as them or something and that'll be it.

I highly highly doubt they'll make an entire chapter themed around it with one-note characters and so on.

It's not about pandering it's about appealing to demographics for money

Just what do you think pandering is? It's literally trying to appeal to a specific demographic.

Because I don't think it's fair to call it all just blanket pandering? You said it yourself the word Pandering has negative connotations for one reason or another.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2162752#Comment_2162752

That's where you're wrong, it'd definitely be pandering. Everything is pandering, as a matter of fact. Silent Hill chapter is pandering to SH fans. Evil Dead chapter is pandering to Evil Dead fans. However, "pandering" only becomes a dirty word when it's for LGBT characters. It's like saying "expat" instead of the more apt term "immigrant" depending on the country of origin.

Yeah but do you agree that (outside of fanservice ofc) they only do things like SIlent Hill, RE and so on because they know it's an easy way to sell a chapter and the game itself.

Big franchises with huge fanbases = easy $$$

It's not about pandering it's about appealing to demographics for money, you could make the argument that the logic applies to original chapters like All-Kill and so on.

  • Because it was universally complained about and slightly over-tweaked

    Here's what you don't understand.....

If you come out and officially say a character is Bi.....then guess what....he's not gay.

If you come out and officially say a character is Gay....then guess what....he's not Bi.

If you comeout and say a character is a Lesbian.... then guess what.....she's not Gay.

^ I know you tend to not see the scope of the full picture here. But if you don't say a character is any of those things above....

Then the character can be anything and everything for everyone....WHICH IS FAR MORE INCLUSIVE than saying

Jake...is only into girls...not only that he was born a guy....

Or Feng Min....yeah shes only into girls and would never be bi...also....She was born a girl.

This is what you're not getting, and its the same thing Riot didn't get when they released Lucian....people are not monoliths. When you tie down a character with traits that are monolithic you end up with monolithic problems. The artistic genius of leaving a blank canvas dissolves monoliths, thats where this wacky ass French team had it right. But hey if you wanna go back to the world we all live in currently instead of the artistic concept the game first came out with you're more than welcome to open that pandoras box. But like I said, you put too much trust in BHVR, don't @ me when this ######### goes sideways....

    I think you're overthinking it a bit

If they had wrote the backstory for Nurse or David and you replaced the word 'Husband' or 'Ex-Girlfriend' with 'Wife' or 'Ex-Boyfriend' then that's quite literally just a small part of their bigger story

there'd be nothing wrong with it, it's when characters are made PURELY to do nothing other than tick a box where there'll be issues. Probably

It's funny that LGBT people are expected to just "use their imagination" and be content with fan fiction, but heterosexuals aren't.

Can I ask you a serious question

What do you actually consider to be appropriate representation? Is it one character that belongs to the LGBT community? Is it multiple all with different characteristics? How many is too little, too much?

This isn't a snarky question, I am genuinely curious.

  • I understand the representation is important to many people and I completely respect people's wishes and desires for it but I find it really silly put the demand for such a thing on what is essentially a business/corporation.

Dead by Daylight is a product first and foremost no matter what anyone says about it - If the developers think something is profitable and tailored towards mass appeal, they'll do it regardless. All they need is to be willing to make content that tailors to specific demographics which they already have done with chapters like Trickster.

I think they're already planning something for Pride Month, I'm not going to discuss specifics because it's against the forum rules to talk about leaks but do your own research and you'll probably see what I'm referencing

In the end, as long as a character is to people's likings it's irrelevant how I feel about it. If content isn't made for me then I don't have to buy it. It's how the market works right?

  • Perfectly represents the chapter if you ask me

It arrived, and then almost immediately after BHVR was hyping people up for Resident Evil

A filler lobby for a filler chapter

  • Some of the attitudes in this thread are kinda shocking

You can think what you want of Freddy but at least he's what the devs intended and isn't an exploit

Don't justify people exploiting because "freddy op and boring" (he's getting nerfed anyway)

I didn't remember that part about Blight. Doesn't the lore say he was just in an opium den and got sucked in?

This is memory 1748 from Tome 1 'The alchemist' which was revealed to be the Blight:

He feels the hunger. Not for food or drink. Not for talk or fun. For a flower. A single flower. For serum. He knows The Entity is watching him. He knows it. Feels it inside his bones. He doesn't want to be snatched for another trial. To suffer or cause suffering. And to what end? The great horrible mystery of it all. He wants to understand this place. He does. But he senses that to know… to really know would drive him… mad. Madness. That's what this place is. The embodiment of madness. He doesn't want to be pulled into another trial. He wants to return home. He must return home. That's why he was studying the serum. It gave him insight. Insight to what? He doesn't remember.

question for the lore: Do the survivors' bodies "reset" each time they return to the campfire, keeping them the same age and health state for eternity, or do all the survivors have hep c from the hooks at this point?

Supposedly their body remains the same but their mind is affected since it's said eventually survivors will 'die' and become soulless husks in the void or become killers themselves

Something to that effect at least. Blight was a survivor who turned into a killer for example

  • Best one so far, 100%

They should rework her voice while they're at it

  • It's only there for perk tiers, which is really dumb and must annoy the hell out of perk designers because they need to either tack on a cooldown or give it some kind of number difference

Same reason Visionary has a cooldown lol

Something like off the record (conceptually, I'm not saying OTR is good) is somewhat like where I'm getting at. It prevents you from being tunneled. If you get tunneled straight out of a facecamp, giving DS a much, much longer stun or having it proc multiple times can make the punishment so aggressive that it'll literally destroy the killer (as in gauge an eye out or break a rib), especially now that they narrowed down the activation requirements.

It's hard to strike a balance for sure, because you could make just one small tweak and it would completely shift things

Imagine if unhooked survivors had something like a two second grace period after being unhooked, similar to the small invincibility shield survivors get after being revived in HSHS if you've ever seen it. That seems like such a small change but it would hurt killer so much

  • I struggle to see perks that actively stop a killer from doing a certain thing because it's usually the killer who decides the flow of a match (Not saying they have complete control, but rather survivors respond to what the killer does)

Think about it, in order for DS to be considered an 'anti-tunnel' perk, you need to actually be tunnelled right? When does that happen? Usually after you've been caught and hooked once already, which is where the perk comes in. It's a safety net in case you get tunnelled.

I'm curious, what form would an actual 'anti-tunnel' perk be by your definition? A perk that punishes killers for consistantly chasing the same survivor all game? I can't really see it but maybe you have ideas I'm not aware of

  • Depending how much creative liberty they'd be allowed with the property, I think it'd be cool to have Sam and Dean as the survivors and the killer could be a Corrupted Castiel or something along those lines

Three of the series most popular characters in one package, who could say no to that

Oni can pick up a survivor he downs with his power just fine. He keeps the rest of his power bar so he can pick up some more blood and have his power back quickly. He's certainly not forced to slug like he was on the ptb when he would lose half his power bar picking up a survivor in his power.

Good point, I forgot to factor that in - that's my bad.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2150345#Comment_2150345

"Slugging being the only thing a killer is good at promotes really unhealthy gameplay."

No, slugging is not unhealthy game play. The hate for slugging is completely irrational. You can do more things on the ground, you have a second chance at life, and there are multiple perk/item counters to slugging as well. There is no rational reason to hate slugging much less is it unhealthy.

Let me explain myself a bit better - I didn't mean to say I hate slugging or that all slugging is bad. If that's the impression you got, that's my bad for not explaining myself properly

My point was - if slugging is the only viable Strategy for a killer's power then I believe that's unhealthy for the game. That applies to Twins because it is quite literally counter-productive to down someone with victor, swap and then hook every time. It's the same with Oni, but Oni has mobility and map control. Twins doesn't

Slugging is completely fine when it's not the only thing killers are setting out to do. I apologise if you thought I was trying to call all slugging bad, that wasn't my intention

  • @Blueberry said:

I think you mostly got their issues right but I'm not really a fan of your changes.

-Remove the extra stun time they added

-Increase the distance you have to be from the hook to swap between them unless a survivor is within range (to prevent camping).

-Charlotte gains Undetectable while Victor is on a survivor (make it more punishing to take her power hostage)

Their slugging isn't an issue, it has lots of counter play. Her issues are her camping and Victor being taken hostage.

I disagree, I believe slugging is a fundemental issue with the Twins design

Slugging being the only thing a killer is good at promotes really unhealthy gameplay. Other killers who are good at slugging, also have other things going for them so they don't have to rely purely on it - Mobility mainly: Nurse, Oni and hell even Blight. Twins seems to have none of that, only slugging and camping/proxy camping.

And I'm not saying it's the fault of the people who do it, as It seems like that's the only competent way to use her power and win

I think Twins needs a full on rework, personally.

  • @Mooks said:

Do the players respect the devs would be another interesting question.

the devs are listening and it’s obvious that the game is better than people want to give it credit for. There are reasons why all the wanna-be asymmetrical horror games failed but this one succeeded.

they may be slow on many things, but they don’t really get that much appreciation when they do something great. Just as an example: colorblind mode. This was something the community was requesting heavily. They already stated last year they want to look into it but it’s not the highest priority right at that moment. Now that it was announced/brought to the game people find ways to talk it down massively. As if they implemented it within 4 weeks because of that ‚incident‘ (another example how SOME players disrespect the devs heavily).

Yeah it's fair to criticise what the devs say and do. The 'stop asking about colourblind' fiasco is a big example as to why I think the devs are being way more tight lipped than they have been in the past. It's easier to not mention an upcoming feature rather than mention it and have people seeking out answers, in their mind I suppose.

I think people who personally seek out the devs on their platforms and harrass them are just bad or simply entitled people. I don't really agree with how some of the developers have conducted themselves (Hell, I strongly disagree with their current stance on exploits at the moment) but there's nothing personal about it

Another thing that bothers me is the consistancy of the answers we do get. When Trickster was released, everyone said he was weak and one of the responses we go was "well we won't really know for a while, it'll take a month and a half for me to look at the data" only for Trickster to get changed anyway.

One of the more frustrating examples was when Object of Obsession was labelled as not a problem because of 'statistics' which completely missed the point of why people hated it to begin with (Even Mr. Cote pointed this out).

Maybe addressing SWF is a touchy subject for the balance team, it's not my place to say but thankfully it was rectified anyway despite this response

  • @Raccoon said:

Given their recent focus on accessibility, I'd have to say that they do care, imho.

I agree, but I must add a bit of a stipulation about this

They only started communicating with us about progress on that feature after a developer spoke out of turn about it and controversy was started.

The features are greatly appreciated though, I'm not colourblind but I'm glad people that are have those options.

I mean either way I feel like they don't give a ######### to some degree considering every bug I report seems to get passed as "one off" when it's happened again and again. I mean how long have they been saying they would fix matchmaking? How long did it take to "fix" hitboxes? (even though they are still broken). Like I said I think BHVR would rather have us pay more money for cosmetics and characters than fix their game. I mean I could list issues with DBD endlessly because of how ignorant BHVR are. They clearly don't care about the player base they would put more effort in if they did.

I actually think the hitboxes are fine as they are, it's either latency, 'aim dressing' (auto-aim) or sometimes hit validation that messes it up. The Matchmaking thing they have recently talked about, since MMR is likely coming very soon...To the fear of many, like myself.

I don't think BHVR is necessarily intentionally ignorant, but I'd levy the blame on the fact they refuse to budge on their sticking to a chapter release schedule and refusing to dedicate a chapter to actually improving the health of the game. They do midchapters here and there even though they introduce more problems - like the pallet bug and even the de-sync issue.

AND even with their content schedules, we haven't had a new map since Pyramid Head. The last year's anniversary killer. Kinda shocking. We've had map reworks sure, but it's not 'new' content it's old content remade.

All of the current remodelling/rework stuff they are doing is likely because of next-gen consoles.

  • @RealKamakaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2149928#Comment_2149928

Still though they only responded to the Trickster issue because it was all people were talking about, every other issue gets swept under the rug as a "one off". Buffing a killer and listening to the community every once in a blue moon does not deserve respect and I don't think they should not be given credit for it because most other games manage to listen to their community why can't BHVR? Also I don't think something "internal" has happened that stops them it doesn't take much effort to read through the forums, read some tweets or watch some YouTube videos.

(IMO) They only responded to Trickster as quickly as they did because of two reasons:

    • One of the developers said on a livestream it would 'take a while' before changes were made to him despite PTB and even Live feedback. This was like pouring gasoline on a flame, bad idea.
    • Trickster's reception was lukewarm and they needed to draw more people into it

PTB's seem pointless at this point though, because they're previews of content rather than tests. Sometimes things are changed on PTB, sure but it's not the norm that this happens. Trickster was weak on PTB and somehow even worse on live according to some.

And when I say 'something internal' what I mean is I imagine they've had some kind of shake-up to prevent miscommunication or to stop them making promises they can't keep.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2149928#Comment_2149928

Well, considering that they get ######### on most of the time, I can understand why they stop communicating (and as far as I know, they communicate in their freetime). Communication is a privilige, not a right.

Oh I'm not saying we're entitled to it.

I just think that's one of the big issues at the moment and why people feel like things like there's no care about issues like the pallet/breakdown bugs. (Especially when, for some reason people are given a silent thumbs up about them)

  • The biggest problem right now is the lack of communication, I'm of the belief something internal has led them to stop communication with the community as much. It still happens but not as much as it used to. Their priorities are seemingly around new content rather than fixing what's already there at times but credit where credit is due - they responded to the complaints about Trickster moderately quickly in BHVR time.

It didn't take as long as it did for Blight's POV to finally be what it should've been on release.

Also their recent tendancy of giving a tacit 'okay' to people using exploits still baffles me a bit.
