I think the mangled pin is now better than the broken pin since it lasts until they are healed again
They'll either decide to heal and waste even more time or they'll say screw it and not heal at all (Which is what the broken effect does anyway)
-
Gotta be Myers or Wraith
Love 'em

Feels like it only takes one bad match for the tilt to start
Then every match after it feels like hell.

Toss up between Cursed Legacy and Silent Hill
Demise of the Faithful would be my #3

It's not complaining it's civil discourse about everyone's favourite stabby stabby run around bits of wood simulator.
Right?
-
There's a few things that inspire dread and anxiety in me when I'm playing survivor:
- Being the obsession and seeing the killer's aura when gens are completed. Dread it, run from it - Rancor arrives all the same.
- Knowing that I'm up against a mirror myers on an indoor map
- When I know the killer has undying but no ruin.
- Hearing the Plague's corrupt purge sound que when everyone's fully infected
That's about it

you mean like people who j-flick?
Yeah, exactly. Exploiters.

Blight is yet another "hard to learn or master but is incredible when finally mastered" kind of killer, although I'm expecting people starting to cry about him sooner or later
If you ask me the only valid complaints about Blight on the survivor side are the exploiters and the slightly misleading hitbox on his swing at times.
def. one of the strongest and balanced killers in the game.
-
I mean you also have to consider the fact that there's a bit of circular logic in play
Survivors run the best perks they can so killers run the best perks they can which in term means people who want to do well in either role at red ranks (not saying rank is a factor, rather that most people get into red ranks if they play actively) gravitate towards the more consistent perks, of which all of the survivor meta perks are.
You could also make the argument that lesser skilled players are carried by strong perks which is a fair point, just look at the DS nerf and the undying nerf (both which were very necessary and healthy for the game IMO)

The two sides have meta perks for different reasons though.
The survivor perks are meta because they're just insanely too good and blow all other options out from being considered.
The killer meta perks are chosen not because they blow all the other perks out but because most the perks are trash and it's just the best that's available.
I don't see how that's different
A lot of survivor perks are situational and worthless in 90% of games
A lot of killer perks are situational and worthless in 90% of games
so everyone just picks the more consistent and strong perks.
It's the same problem
-
Because survivors run the same 4-5 perks and the meta is stale
You can say they are "too powerful" but killer also has strong perks, so survivors should also be allowed strong perks too.
Both sides should have strong perks and both sides should be able to have variety.
-
Here is my tip for helping:
Run the perk Kindred with Premonition, you can use kindred's killer aura reading to see the killer's aura and point in their direction. You have to let the ENTIRE animation finish for it to count. So stand still and point until you can point again.
-
I also agree that this is a really silly and divisive question because it implies non-casual players are somehow... Better for the game? When they certainly aren't. Like why would you ask this question?
If anything sometimes comp dbd brings out the worst in people.
I strongly dislike the whole comp scene in dbd but it has a right to exist of course.

I don't think Pig players are chill at all.

I for one welcome our fellow survival horror friends.
There are salt packets to your left and a blood point buffet to your right.
Have a pleasant stay

Never forget the trash chapters we received, don't let BHVR make you forget.
Not gonna lie I think it's hilarious actually
Trickster was just released and now they're already going
"Guy's look Resident Evil is next"

I'm not mad about 'All-Kill' anymore.
For now...

Is this "M2 Tech" just the thing where you M1 immediately from Rites of Judgement or is this something else I haven't heard about before?
Since it's patched now, basically it was done by spamming M2 once or twice and then being able to do the Punish attack instantly with basically no telegraph. On the survivors side, what PH would do is go to put his sword down then immediately the attack would come out leaving basically no reaction time.
-
A change the devs silently added with the animation update is you can actually tell if someone's recovering based on their aura now anyway
If you see their character on the floor and 'moving' (not crawling) they are recovering
If they are completely still then they aren't recovering
As if Buckle Up wasn't useless enough already
-
I understand your perspective, but I'd like to pose a counter question
What do you propose be changed about this? Because survivors not getting grabbed isn't really the fault of the survivor, it's on the server/hit validation end.

Blight is fine and balanced without jflick...
but also his boring, there is nothing special or new with his concept as a killer compared to most others. You move around the map with a mobility power l and hit people who are out positioned... like wow never seen that before
So the exploit is the only fun you think there is to blight?
why are you playing blight then
-

Welp when that happened all jflick blight mains I know will probably go back to slugging infect fright Nurse or Stridor Spirit cause those were their old mains. Blight without jflick is such a limited, lame and boring killer. The flicks added some spice into his gameplay
No he is not
Blight without J-Flick is perfectly fine and balanced. That's such an irritating and unfounded statement
All the flicks do is add less counterplay and expects survivors to predict a killer is gonna use an exploit. Nobody likes expecting people are gonna exploit. It's not fun, it's not healthy for the game whatsoever
-
I really hope so.
-
Stop calling exploits techs.
It was an exploit and the people who were abusing it probably should've got a ban.
As someone who faced people exploiting this on multiple occasions: Good riddance.
-
Water is wet
-
Twin's power is one of the most unique in the game, it's just a shame the only viable way to use it - is via slugging and sometimes camping. I'm sure the devs consider mass slugging an unhealthy tactic because of all of the nerfs around slugging (Billy's nerf, This nerf and so on).
The thing that bothers me the most about Twins is how there's little penalty for Victor being crushed. They should give Charlotte some kind of secondary power so they aren't completely helpless when Victor's on cooldown, since that's the only reason his cooldown is so short imo.
They should also probably implement a slight rework on how hooks work, if you hook someone as Twins - maybe have Victor be recalled if he's within certain proximity of the hook

I used to run windows, but then I realized that knowing where loops are won't help if I can't loop in the first place.
Running tiles is just something that you learn the more you play, you can watch videos and what not but it's not the same as actually just refining it yourself. If you want my random piece of advice, try to stick to the corner of structures and don't be afraid to drop pallets early if you're injured
Windows is honestly great because it shows you where the dead-zones are but it also subtly helps you learn where pallets and windows can/can't spawn which is insane.
-
Since it's a basic perk, it should have a basic effect
The hooking to gain undetectable for x amount of time is great, because it would also be a soft counter to Kindred and could help the killers that get countered by Kindred the most (Namely someone like Hag or Trapper)

Because my therapist recommended I stop running info perks so I don't have to see my teammates doing absolutely nothing.
That's part of the fun though...
I'd say give Kindred another shot if you feel like it. Other than that, maybe try out We'll Make it or Windows of Oppertunity
-
Serious question
Why do you not run kindred? Assuming you're playing solo of course.

@ShamelessPigMain said:
Well, he does definitely seem like a killer. There's more to presentation than just physical appearance. Audio cues definitely play a huge role in setting atmosphere. What would Darth Vader be if he talked like James Charles?
Plus, he has blood on him. There's no reason you should have that much blood on you unless you're a felon. And his lore is twice the story of Hag or Billy.
I don't think his lore being longer than Hag's or Billy's makes it better by default

You can say whatever you want my man, but I don't see you providing any arguments on your end.
As you keep saying it's all subjective.
I just think you shouldn't compare Trickster to Hannibal.
Hannibal's a well written and actualised character that fits in the media he's in.
I'm not even saying he'd fit in DBD because he probably wouldn't.
-
@DeadHardMan said:

You STILL don't get it, do you?
It doesn't matter if you call Trickster psychological "horror" and that he doesn't fit "slasher", he's still horror.
What I'm trying to say is that the VISUAL APPEARANCE alone shouldn't determine if a Killer is "horror" or not. You say Hannibal Lecter can't fit because he's "an old man with no context". That is absolutely not true. Hannibal has proven time and time again he is a merciless and psychotic killer JUST like Trickster. Hannibal Lecter can perfectly fit in with the rest of the cast BECAUSE he's a KILLER. Every Killer in the game has a messed up background and committed terrible acts. That's what qualifies as Killer not how a Killer's appearance matches YOUR idea of what a Killer should look like.
Comparing Trickster to Hannibal Lector is an insult to Hannibal
-
What I find interesting is that they intentionally made it so missing two skillchecks in a row automatically sacrifices you
This isn't the same as PH's cages, which will force you to go through the whole 2nd phase, albeit with penalties for every skill check.

So without Urban how fast is crouching speed. In percentages. like 50%?
I believe crouching speed is 50% yeah
An increase of 100% is double, which makes it normal walking speed
-
Barb's glasses is great, speeds up recovery after breaking a pallet with shred
Rotten Pumpkin also has more utility by letting you place a portal then destroy it by going through it
-
That is correct yeah
Urban evasion makes crouch movement speed the same as normal walking

I didn't post an image here, so not sure what you are referencing, but I addressed this already. But to restate whats bit said since the first teasers, psychological horror is wonderful. It is some of the strongest and most intrinsically fear inducing genres we have left, as we get desensitized to random brutal murderers and monsters. Hell its not even a new concept, silence of the lambs, psycho, and even modern movies like the invisible man remake aren't necessarily focused on the abilities of someone, but what they do with what is at their disposal, and what they have the potential to do. The concept of the trickster works fine as a horror icon, someone using their influence for predatory purposes is actually really topical as well. So what is the problem with the trickster in dbd? Why do we have this huge issue with him being this neon kpop star? I already said it in the post chain but sure Ill note it again
Psychological horror is built entirely on two things, suspense and the unknown. Minor spoilers for the invisible man as a heads up, but its just a great recent example. At first we are not even sure if he's real or just her psychoses. For the first third of the run time we do not know the nature of the threat to begin with. As we become more sure that she isn't just crazy, we have to ask what he is willing to do, how far will he go? He stalks her, he tries to make people believe she is insane, make others think shes insane. It draws out slowly, methodically picking her apart over weeks and months, until he finally murders, right in the middle of a crowded area. Everyone I was with jumped out of their seats, it was so unexpected, the stakes elevated instantly and the shock was actually a scary and unexpected interaction. From then on we only have more unknowns, but all predicated on this man who has no limits and will do whatever he wants to achieve his goal, which now on the back end of the run time, we are still not aware of. This is psychological horror. Every interaction is drawn out, we are taken on this journey through the lens of the protagonist. That is the suspense. But then even when the stakes are rising at each major plot point, we still do not know what they are doing, we don't feel like we have control because the protagonist has no control. That is the unknown, what is going on, what can possibly be done to protect ourselves?
Neither of the two primary aspects of psychological horror CAN transfer to this setting, its just not possible in dbd.
- Suspense. Well while killers like ghost face, hag, trapper, myers and even plague will often begin setting up traps through positioning and actual traps, giving some form of progression and sense of suspense as the match unfolds, it will never be constant, it will always turn into an active chase, not a passive building up of fear. In this way, in which the game is constantly in an active state of interaction, there can never really be suspense
- Unknown. This is by far the biggest issue. There is no "how far will they go?" there is no "what are they capable of?", you know exactly how far they can and will go. They will try to find you, they will try to down you, they will hook you 3 times. That is what they can and will do, always. You know what they can do, billy and bubba have a chainsaw that down you. Wraith will go invisible. Huntress can throw things. Knowing the capabilities of the killer inherently take away the unknown. They can provide menace, a factor relevant in slasher movies. Menace being the fear of the known, seeing what someone has done, and therefore knowing what they can do. You saw Michael Myers pick up someone with one hand, and carve his chest out, so you run from him because of his menace, you run because you know he can pick you up, and carve your chest out. Its a different type of fear, a fear that dbd has always used. An earned fear of a dangerous threat.
This is why people don't want this neon hot guy as a killer. At least not alone. There are so many easy ways to give him menace, to dehumanize a character. A mask is the first and easiest way, which is why 90% of the characters have some kind of mask or facial deformity. But you want his pretty boy face, okay fine, no mask. You can look at the things that made him less than human. He let his band die in a horrible fire. Burn his clothes, a LOT. Char up his coat, maybe burn some of his flesh or part of his face. This gives a great excuse to provide dark tones to his otherwise colorful uniform. Still dont like that? Give him more blood, more stains on his jacket, maybe some open wounds or deformities from traversing the entity's realm, spikes and chains are not so out of place in kpop that making them a part of his flesh or body would be unreasonable. But the biggest thing is just, make the neon outfit an alternate outfit and no one complains. If his stage attire is just not the base outfit, thats fine, its a cosmetic, no one would really care that much so long as the base character fits the aesthetic of dbd.
DBD themselves are kinda forgetting the reason the game was popular, it was dark and gritty like a classic slasher, that is their audience. These brighter maps and textures really just don't hold up...
Very well said, this is exactly what I meant when I say I feel like they didn't even try with his design
-
tbh It isn't the overheat that caused this
I believe it was the removal of the addons that increased the charge speed. (Primer Bulb, Carp Tuner Guide, Thompsons Mix & Spark plug)
-
I like the redesigns
Not sure I like the daytime setting though, maybe I'm just too used to maps being dark. Even Dusty Saloon is still kinda dark despite being in the early morning

He's a goddamn psycho, of course "he behaves like an anime character".
Sure. I don't have a problem with characters being over the top
People shouldn't call it "Realistic" though.
As much as I hate his design and character, at least they committed to the whole anime thing they were clearly going for.

Love this. But people in this fanbase don't want to wrap their heads around the fact that a "realistic," "handsome villain" has a place alongside horror icons, "grotesque monsters" and unnerving characters in this game of ultimate horror mashup.
He's not realistic in the slightest though
He behaves like an anime character
-
Nope.
You played around the basement and used your power effectively. it seems like they couldn't handle it
Did the guy 'call you out' for camping or
-
It's killer sided once all six thousand pallets are gone. 80% of which are all safe as hell
After that, all they have is a good window or two and some L wall T walls and that's it
-
I do not like his design. Contrary to probably most people, I think he looks boring as a horror character. It feels like they didn't even try.
He falls more into the category of 'funny horror' like something from a scary movie film or something, in my opinion.
But this is coming from someone who doesn't like the whole of 'All-Kill' for the most part because it doesn't feel like the chapter was made for DBD's playerbase, it was made for people who they want to play the game. Which I'm not against, necessarily.
-
Removing more skill from the survivor side isn't the way to go
Not only does it make survivor gameplay even more boring but it also makes killer even more miserable. It's a lose/lose.
-
It's one of the few perks that actually instills a sense tension and dread
I'm not gonna say I love facing it but it's certainly not overbearing considering the rancor target is warned after every gen.
-
It's a buff
It now works on wraith, ghost face, pig
and also the more notorious camping killers like freddy, hag and huntress
The reduced timer is to compensate for the fact it will now always activate if the killer is in that certain area, which I am estimating will be 32M
