If it makes you happier sure we can call it an exploit. But that doesn't justify why it should be removed, when it doesn't create anything unbalanced or broken.
It should either be removed or something similiar incorporated into basekit without needing the use of DPI/Macros and so on.
That's my final thoughts about it at least.

The shirtless myers meme was funny for a bit
It's not funny anymore, especially when the 'Twitter guy' does it.

The reason the ph on was removed however was because it was unbalnaced. That's what i think things should be judged upon, not just because some deve said it was not intended and then everyone starts using that as a reason to pick on it. Regardless of whether blight's flick is intended or not, it is protentially one of the hardest, if not the hardest, thing in the game to pull off. And one of the few things that you can continously get better at and improve in the game.
I argue this is as equally unbalanced because it removes one of the actual counters to blight's power. (A power which is extremely strong already because it combines mobility and lethality into one)

It will.
Knowing i play blight for nothing when he gets that nerf,
then no killer would come close to literally competing with Spirit,
And yes. due to the J-flicks. blight DOES compete with her,
I respectfully disagree
If a killer needs an exploit to be on par with the best killers in the game (Who by definition break the game) then that doesn't help your argument.
Killers should not be balanced around Spirit and certainly not Nurse.
-
Downing a marked survivor should reward you with a portion of your power back in my opinion.
It would def. help him keep his momentum up if you're playing without addons anyway

But none of these things have been acted upon. Theres no thousands of forum posts of ppl complaining that these are unfair. Spirits been in the game for what almost 3 years now?!
The only reason I haven't made a bug report on the PH thing is because I don't want to make it even more widely known, I'm sure the devs know about it already
Look man I hear what you're trying to say at the end of the day, but whether you wanna call it an expoit, a tech or whatever the bottom line is it's not healthy for the game.
Do you remember The original Pyramid Head 'tech'? The one Otz popularised (I think) and it meant you could use his power and if you timed it right, could immediately go into a lunge with his sword in the ground? That was unintended and it was fixed as this should be.

Well then why hasn't 360'ing been removed then? Or fatigue cancelling? Or ph's insta shoot exploit? No-one's calling for these thigns to be removed. It's just ppl jumping on the hate all skillful and balanced killers bandwagon, whilst simultaniously claiming that spirit is balanced.
PH's exploit should be removed 100%
So should stretched res.
And nobody calls spirit balanced

@Withered8 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2070393#Comment_2070393
The line is whether it is balanced or not. The same line which determines whether a killer shoudl be buffed or nerfed. There shouldn't be some imaginary new line drawn up just because something is not inteded by the devs.
It's not 'balanced' at all though.
Expecting survivor players to predict a player is gonna use an exploit and then expecting them to use 'counterplay' to an exploit is ridiculous.
-

Going by ur logic, then there are millions of exploits in every single game. Look at smash, there are so many unintended features which ppl use in that game which are fundimentals to high level play.
You dont need to mess up your dpi to flick. You can get up to 120s on even low dpis.
Okay then where do you draw the line, exactly?
Does an exploit need to be 'game breaking' for it to suddenly not be okay?
-
@Withered8 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2070367#Comment_2070367
I don't see how so many ppl can call J-flicking on blight as skillless yet the completely ignore half the other killer roster in this game which is actually braindead. Jflicking is not easy, it's not as simple as just changing ur dpi. Try it out. There's actual technique to it more than 90% of other killers in this game.
Good blights will never be playing m1 because then they arent using their power properly at all.
An exploit taking a bit of skill or know-how to use doesn't automatically make it okay.
-
@Withered8 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2070352#Comment_2070352
It's not an exploit. Are you saying if someone naturally plays a game on high dpi that they are exploiting?
Go ahead and get rid of one of the funnest things in the game to do, j-flicking, but enjoy all the spirits you get afterwards. I know forsure that if they kill j-flicking on blight ill swap to spirit. 2nd main in a row they've killed because they are "too op".
Blight is not supposed to be able to do it, they limited his turning on purpose
Using DPI to bypass a restriction that the programmers intentionally put in place, is an exploit whether you like it or not. Mclean has even said not to get used to it
If they want this to be apart of Blight's power, then they'll make it so anyone can do it without needing to mess with external things like DPI and so on. It's not healthy for the game at all to have certain 'skills' that can only be used if you're willing to mess with your DPI/make macros and so on.
There's no real need to be spiteful about it
-
Are you implying Blight isn't balanced and that an exploit is the only thing that makes him so
That's a really bad statement and it's an insult to all the great Blight players who manage just fine without using an unintended exploit
It being fixed won't hurt the game in the slighest.
-
Running them around in a different match
Some people hold the pettiest of petty vendettas
-
It was needed.
You can't do gens, totems, heal other people or unhook people if you're being tunnelled
If you think the game needs anti-momentum perks then that's a different conversation I think
-
It's a strong perk that gives survivors good enough of a warning to avoid it. I like it, more perk variety is nice
The only problem I have with it, is how it refreshes. If you pick up a survivor and then Starstruck's cooldown ends, it will instantly activate.
I'm not saying this is overbearing or OP, just annoying.
-
The heal tech is the fact that the killer cannot pick up a survivor that is currently being healed
The primary use case of this, is when the killer downs someone in the exit gate area but they aren't close enough to escape, so survivors will stand over them and begin 'healing' them which forces the killer to hit them to stop. While the killer is in the wipe animation, the downed survivor will have a short window to crawl and if enough people do this/the survivor is close enough they can escape when they otherwise wouldn't.

Regarding your first point, that developer has stated that it is unintended, yet they have no intention of removing it. J-Flicks, I dunno, but I know the point-turn is a feature, not an exploit.
McLean said not to get used to it, which implies that it'll be changed

Well I do, and my sentiment is that if an "exploit" that is fair and has counterplay should be removed just because it was unintended then an exploit that is also unintended but has no counterplay should also be removed for sake of being fair to both sides
That's fair, I completely disagree but I understand your point of view.
-
@bjorksnas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065501#Comment_2065501
So then call it intended, you already think its fair so what harm would it cause
You can't call it intended if one of the main programmers behind Blight has publicly said it isn't intended
-
Seeing someone recently unhooked and still injured on a gen is a nice bit of peace of mind
I'm not saying go out of your way to tunnel, but if you need to in order to win a close match then you have that peace of mind to go "okay, I can get this guy out and hopefully win from there"
-
@bjorksnas said:

Both are exploits, but one of them is balanced by the fact that it actually has counterplay, stretched res making unsafe loops completely safe is a unfair mechanic that has no skill involved in its usage, they should add support for j-flicking or remove BOTH in their entirety as they are both in their current state exploits
I don't really agree with the sentiment that it's one or the other
I hope the Blight exploit gets fixed the same way I hope the Pyramid Head exploit gets fixed and any other exploits that are unintended or giving advantages where they aren't intended.
I'm not defending stretched res though, it's ugly as sin. I don't know how they would remove it though
-
I can't actually fathom a way to 'nerf' blight that would be fair and wouldn't completely gut him
I feel he's pretty balanced
-
@bjorksnas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065449#Comment_2065449
You know what else is exploit abuse that became a welcomed mechanic in the game stretched res, so lets just make another exception for an actually fair mechanic.
I hear what you're trying to say, but I feel like it's a bit disingenious to imply that simply because people are against this exploit that they aren't against things like Stretched res and so on
If the devs want Blight to be able to do 180 turns by default, then they'll make it so and if not, then they won't. Exploits like this should either be adapted or removed.
Can't exactly argue the same for stretched res (Unless they give survivors a brief FOV slider of some kind or something idk)
-
@DoritoHead said:
I'm not against the J-flick itself, I'm against the idea of people bending the rules to use something in an unintended way.
Yeah I mean if they actually edit Blight's kit and make 180 degree turns something you can do if you're good enough without exploiting DPI (I don't know how they would do this but yeah), then it wouldn't be an exploit and I would be okay with it.
I'm not okay with it in its current state.

Follow the fun, just because a feature is unintended doesn't mean it shouldn't become a feature, if it had no counterplay I would be against keeping it but as it does it increases the skill ceiling of the killer while not trivializing survivor actions.
Learning the counterplay isn't hard even if that counterplay is to common "exploits"
You don't need to mess around in settings it can be done pretty much on any dpi, some people just like having theirs higher so they can do it more consistently with small mouse movements
Yea but its an exploit that raises the skill ceiling and has counterplay for both sides possible, if it trivialized all gameplay then it wouldn't be a fair mechanic to add or even use but as it stand it has counterplay and raises the skill ceiling and is a fun mechanic to use so it should be added, because follow the fun
Simplest thing they could do to remove 3/4 of your entire argument, declare its not an exploit and its be acknowledge as a feature
If they want it to be a feature, they'll make it a feature.
Until they do, it's an exploit. Not a tech, not a higher skill ceiling - exploit.
-
- A programmer has said that it's unintended, the restriction on Blight's turning was intentional so bypassing it - is an exploit
- You talk about counterplay, I understand the perspective but why should survivor plays be expected to not only learn about an exploit, but learn counter-play to an exploit (an exploit that isn't even intended to be apart of the killer to begin with and not all blight players will use)
- Needing to mess with settings to unlock a higher skill ceiling is not healthy for the game. Applies to both sides, not just killer
- Just because an exploit takes a bit of know-how and skill to pull off doesn't mean it's okay.
-
Someone on this forum posted a clip of a Programmer (McLean) basically saying "it's unintended, people are getting around a restriction, don't get used to it"
So yeah, that's what changed I think
-
The issue is that there's so many sharp corners, windows and small junk loops that constantly impede your mobility

Yes, but they need to be better designed with some killers in mind
Blight and Huntress suffer the most from these maps. Try playing Lery's as Blight, it's painful

Of course it's on the killer side. If it was on the survivor side it would be a tech and not an exploit.
No, it applies to both sides
That one 'tech' that let survivors hide behind hooked survivors? Exploit, no matter what some popular survivor youtuber says about it.

Billy still has high mobility along with an instadown. He also has a little anti loop potential if you can learn how to curve his chainsaw well. For leatherface his mobility still isn't all that great but his instadown is definitely more lenient at loops. Overall I feel that Billy wins out over the fact that his map pressure is just far greater than Bubba's even with the overheat. If you use Billy's saw efficiently then the overheat shouldn't be much of an issue.
You make a good point, I'd like to offer a counterpoint as to why I think Cannibal is better:
Billy can't do anything about most loops, he can't even get the pallet down quickly - whereas a good cannibal player can force survivors into a lose-lose situation at loops. They either drop the pallet instantly and waste it or they keep running and go down.
Billy does have the mobility but getting from place to place doesn't mean much if you can't down people in a timely manner.

So sick of people attacking jflick (something that actually takes skill to use despite not being an intended feature) and defending stretched res at the same time.
Wish the worst for such people.
Personally I'm sick of people defending exploits and classifying them as 'techs'.
(You are right though, Stretched res is just as bad).
-
@BangBang said:
Then why don't you try it? LMAO
Not to mention he is a tough killer to control, J flick is not something you can just do by simply increasing the dpi.
If you don't like it, just stick with consoles and turn off cross-play.
Just because an exploit might be a bit challenging to pull off, doesn't make it acceptable

Hey, great list
What makes you think that Billy is better than Cannibal in their current state?
-
@BeHasU said:
What's J Flicking? That thing where you increase your dpi to 16k to get questionable hits?
Pretty sure it's a way that allows blight to do a full 180 degree turn while dashing (Something which he is not supposed to because his turn rate is limited/capped) however some people found putting their DPI to absurd amounts lets them bypass it
Apparently some people have been defending it saying "it has counterplay" and my answer to that is players shouldn't be expected to learn about an exploit and expect all blight players to use it

They still will do it anyway for the hype basically, but once people see how bad the new killer is after it just turns quite a bit of people away.
Oh I meant as players
If it's clear that the PTB doesn't really matter, why should we spend our time on it

McLean coming in clutch once again.
-
It's not a tech, it's an exploit.
-
One of the members of the balance team apparently said there 'wasn't enough data/no good data' indicating he was weak.
So...
Yeah
-
Remember when there was a PTB for the HUD/UI changes and it was basically unanimously agreed that it wasn't great and it needed changing but it was forced on us anyway and it took weeks for it to be 'addressed'.
They can say they 'have no data' but for a game that has such an active social media presence across multiple different platforms (Twitch, Twitter, These forums, Reddit, Steam) you'd think that would be sufficient enough feedback
-
How about we just don't bother with the PTB in future then
It's clear that it's a pointless endeavour purely for hype generation and for the benefit of content creators at this point
Very disheartening

Well it is a business, so their whole point is to make money.
The reason he was released the way he is is probably just because they ran out of time, with the three-month release schedule. They'll change him eventually, whenever they have more spare time on their hands.
I get that you're trying to play devil's advocate and I can respect that, but the problem is that they expect consumers to just put up with half-baked content like this
BHVR's not an indie company anymore, they should be held to a slightly higher standard

I don't think they're trying to get more demographics, it's more milking what you have for everything it's got. One Korean killer from an overwhelmingly not-Korean game isn't going to increase the player base in Korea, which is actually already pretty sizable.
Either way, I'm just sick of how they are marketing this chapter and tbh I'm kinda sick of their twitter anctics in general but I'm sure it's just me
It's just dishonest and oblivious to the actual state of the product they are marketing.
I'm sure some people think the Chapter's fine in its current state and I respect their opinion even if I fundementally disagree
-
Because they are insistent on their release schedule and are confident that their 'social media marketing' is enough to get the chapter to sell
With this chapter even more-so considering the constant spam of social media about the chapter on top of the fact that they're trying to pull in more demographics into the game (they made a seperate Korean twitter just for dbd).
I'm extremely disappointed. I was disappointed by the PTB but I was hoping they might've made some tweaks in the weeks thereafter, some more polish and so on.
I've said it before, but it's gonna take months for this killer to be even remotely close to a final product.
