Yeah I may have to mess with oni some to learn him better. Thanks for the advice yall.
Legit not a bad idea
Best way to learn how to play against a killer is to play as them yourself and learn their limitations/what it looks like from their POV.
-
Some people hate stealth because it's simply not an interactive element of the game, there's no interaction between killer or survivor. The chase is the fun part of the game and if both sides, killer especially isn't getting into chases then they probably aren't having fun.
Stealth is important though, I'm not saying it's bad - it has its place in the game 100%.
-
I've recently bumped into quite a few streamers playing survivor while I've been playing killer and they've all been very polite people, I always try to not treat them any differently but sometimes I'll bring some BPS for em because why not. It's also always fun to watch the match back from the other perspective, I really wish DBD had a replay system so I could do that with any match and not just one a streamer happened to be in
Unfortunately killer streamers tend to not like me so much when I'm playing survivor usually because I'm a nuisance half the time, but I don't hold it against em. I wouldn't like me either
I'd honestly not let what streamers say get under your skin though, because most of them are playing with friends and they just vent their frustrations like anyone does while playing games as long as it's kept outta the endgame chat ofc. I get annoyed when I play both sides too so I can relate
DBD's just one of those games

I only have one issue with her, if every survivor cleanses from every fountain the corrupt purge will be forced on you.
This needs to be fixed, I don't understand why survivors have this kind of control over the purge.
I believe that's a thing to stop survivors from cleansing themselves into a corner, so to speak
The devs probably always want survivors to have the option to cleanse, even if the plague doesn't use her power (Which yeah makes no sense really but hey, it probably happens)

Buy a lottery ticket
I basically never see anyone doing the insidious facecamp meme anymore

Huntress and Blight are the two killers I face the most on a consistant basis
I've had some sessions where it's been like three blights in a row of varying skill levels

BHVR's balance team have their work cut out for them it seems.

Look on the bright side, you def got your money's worth out of the game

You won't puss cake
You can hold me to it, I ain't scared!
-
What do you consider major?
Been following these threads, they're quite interesting reads
-
The only indoor map I can stomach for both sides is Midwich
Hawkins (As survivor), Game (As killer) and Lery's are just frustrating
-
I'm semi-confident in saying that BHVR will never, ever make another killer that cannot simply hit survivors without using their power
If the Resident Evil chapter proves me wrong, I will set my forum avatar to Trickster for a month
-
Let me tell you one of the most frustrating things I encounter while playing survivor
I'm getting chased, let's say I'm having a good day and the chase lasts for a decent amount of time - before I go down I notice that there's a healthy survivor with a flashlight hovering around me or 'babysitting' me instead of being productive
Then the killer picks me up and does the smart thing and looks at a wall. That survivor has just been wasting all that time basically doing nothing while I was being chased
If you like using flashlights, please don't be that guy (or gal). If you're close by and think you can get a save, that's one thing but please don't babysit your teammates and try to get saves constantly.
-
Some random tips from me:
- Drop pallets super early if you're worried about getting hit, especially if you're the first one being chased; it's important you delay his power as much as possible
- When he has his power - Play a bit more stealthier or immersed than usual
- Split up! Oni's biggest strength is slugging multiple people at a time quickly, when survivors split up this becomes very difficult and it will force them into either hooking or risking losing their slug
- Hug structures as much as you can when he's dashing - Oni can use his demon strike around some corners but the turning rate means he can't do extremely sharp turns. Hiding around corners, vaulting windows and so on
- Don't forget to heal when you can - the less orbs floating around the better.
-
My best guess is there's no decent way to nerf her that doesn't ruin the way her power was designed, the fact there's no tell when she's phasing was intended design, there's even in game hints that reference it
Personally, I think Stridor Spirit is one of the most unfun things to go against in this game - if you don't have iron will they are essentially playing even easier mode spirit. They should do something about Stridor, if a perk is only good on one/two killers there's usually a problem there
I'm curious when it'll be Deathslinger's turn to get changes, not because I think he's OP or anything - I'm just shocked he hasn't been touched since release whereas every other killer has
-
I wouldn't feel obligated to run BBQ on all of my killers (even the ones where BBQ is basically useless like hag) if I had double BP every game
That being said, if it were to be changed - I'd probably go with this.
-
I don't think he needs any buffs at the moment but if I absolutely had to make any changes to make him stronger I'd:
- Probably remove lightburn, let's face it - it's kinda hard to lightburn wraiths these days anyway and is a relic of a bygone era where killer powers had 'counters'
- Reduce the volume of his passive snarling when he's cloaked to improve his stealth
- Give him the 'supress red stain + terror radius' addon as basekit
These are the only things I could think of in the case that I absolutely had to buff wraith, but right now I don't believe he needs to be buffed. His base power is much better, his addons are still amazing and he has a lot of perk synergies.
-
I'll go with Yui for female survivors
Her biker aesthetic and colour scheme is amazing
and for male survivors my favourite has to be Dwight
Nothing beats a classic office worker look
-
Franklins was only toxic when people would equip it, make a survivor drop their item then DC.
It was kinda hilarious, not gonna lie.
Obviously DC penalties means people don't really do this anymore
-
New Object is actually anti-synergistic with some survivor perks like Iron Will, Lucky Break and so on because if you're the obsession the random 30 second reveal can literally show the killer "hey they're over here" which adds some serious risk/reward to the perk that I enjoy a lot
I think it's really balanced now, even when you're not the obsession it's a decent scouting perk to help understand what perks and addons the killer has. Imagine facing a black incense plague with new object
-
He's everyone's favourite screamy pallet eating boi

Only voting this for one reason: Stridor

Cmon man...you gotta use your killer big brain. We're better than survivors because of this....
Iron Grasp+Agitation+MAD GRIT!!!! <---Its a meme build but it can definitely be pretty funny.
Get Starstruck in there as well

So the only difference between iron grasp and agitation is the reduced struggle?
It takes roughly 16 seconds for a survivor to wiggle off your shoulder with no perks and 17.9s with Iron Grasp LVL 3 - It's really not worth running if you ask me (unless you don't have anything better of course)
The side to side wiggling reduction is nice for beginners, but as you become more experienced with killer, it'll stop being an issue. Even a survivor perk that increases the side to side wiggling by 75% isn't massive. (Boil Over if you're not sure which perk I mean)
Agitation is a straight upgrade
-
I think a moderator acknowleged this and said it was passed onto the team
It'll probably be fixed in a hotfix
-
I'd say Agitation is much better because not only does it let you carry for longer, but it also makes you faster than survivors which can get you some cheeky hits if they get cocky or mess up
It also has the nice benefit of minimalising downtime by speeding up the process of transporting people to hooks. Killer gameplay is all about being efficient with time so, it def helps.
-
Grim Pantry is the worst offender, map RNG plays a big part in deciding if it's survivor sided/killer sided
Sometimes you can have the entire middle of the map be a giant dead zone with nothing to work with, right next to generators or sometimes you'll have like three small junk loops in a row in the middle
The totem spawns are also really ridiculous, as killer you'll see your totems spawn in the middle of the map next to some rocks and when you're playing survivor, the killer's ruin will be tucked away in a corner in another country somewhere and when your team ends up dead and you're looking for the hatch, you'll realise it was also in another country
-
I don't play nurse, nor do I have any huge passion for their power but I respect those that do and it pains me seeing them suffering patch after patch as new bugs plague her as a killer

Otz and tru3's followers do seem a bit culty at times. No offence to those two, it's not like they encourage it as far as I can see
They're both really great content creators but it pains me to agree with this
It got to the point where Otz has to dodge streamers in his lobbies because his 'fans' (he probably wouldn't call them that) will harrass streamers he goes against or tell them what he's running and so on.
I don't know if Tru3 does anything similar since I don't watch him as often but at least Otz tries to be a bit responsible with his fanbase.

Sci-fi. Doesn't have to be exclusively space related but I think DBD could pull off a space map really well
If KPOP fits in this game, Sci-fi does too.

Doctor suffers equally like Clown from the fact that survivors will make you eat every single pallet they find, doesn't matter that you can shock them. They will simply pre-drop the pallet and you either have to break it or deal with a Scooby Doo chase. It's already bad enough that survivors can revert from madness 3 to 1 with a simple skillcheck which undoes all of his efforts at slowing down the game. He gets genrushed to hell like most other killers who lack actual map pressure.
Yeah but do you agree that his rework was nothing but a net positive for him compared to how he was before?
He's in a much better position than he's ever been
-
Doctor's rework was good in my opinion
His rework kept his power the same but simplified and made him both stronger and easier to understand for new players on both sides.
-
It's just a really convenient perk to have - it damages regressing gens which means it pairs well with ruin and it allows you to keep the pressure up on survivors
Shame it only works with M1s though

Blight main here!
PERKS
Once you get more experienced w/ Blight, you won't need NOED anymore.
Although this isn't the best build for Blight, it is my favorite one.
BBQ, PGTW, Oppression, and Shadowborn.
Blight is an incredible killer for bloodpoint farming, as you get TONS of bloodpoints from those lethal rush hits. But we don't care about that.
BBQ is pretty efficient for info, and is a lot better than Thrilling for Blight. PGTW for quick regression w/ mobility. Oppression for more regression, and Shadowborn for the extra vision.
If you don't feel like getting used to Shadowborn on Blight, you can switch Shadowborn with something else. (Although Shadowborn has helped me so much, I think it's worth it.) Although Tinkerer is an option, we are already running a tracking perk, but it's not a bad option even w/ BBQ. You can also try Devour Hope.
STRATEGIES
- The Blight is a very unpredictable killer. Use this to your advantage!
- If you're patient with him, you can conserve your charges and get the most value out of them!
- Turning your mouse the direction you want to swing at then swinging at the survivor is called a flick. We aren't talkin' high DPI stuff, just a normal flick, no J-flick involved. This will be very useful for hitting survivors in various tiles. You'll master it eventually, it takes practice.
- You can dodge a Dead Hard using these steps: Lethal rush towards a survivor while your weapon is out, swing once you're close to them. If they go to a different direction, bump into a wall and then swing after they use DH.
- Don't be afraid to use your power in T-walls! Here's an MS Paint-crafted example of how you could use his power in these loops:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V5X7K7PNEV0U/blightex.png
Bump onto the wall at the top right, then go to the survivor! If they attempt to vault the window, you should have time to hit them.
- You can also use your power at shack!

Great post
I like the little cane you drew for him
-
A good chunk of the male survivors are also licensed (Tapp, Quentin, Ash, Steve, Bill.) as opposed to the licensed female characters (Nancy, Laurie and Cheryl)
-
Disappointing to me personally but congratulations to the winner either way
I hope the Killer one is more interesting

you know the difference between mechanic and "exploit" is endorsement right?
They don't endorse exploits, they'll make it into an actual part of blight's kit if they want it to be something they think is okay
They've said it's not and that it's being fixed, so it's an exploit.
-
Can we get an 'aim dressing off' experiment for a day or two?
I would be really curious to see the results
-
I for one welcome our new zombie overlords.
-
Side note - anyone else seeing more noed users than usual?
I've been seeing it in almost all of my games lately, whereas before this patch I didn't see it as often (Red ranks)
-
@bjorksnas said:
I still don't know why they haven't endorsed it yet, this has been the coolest unintended mechanic I have ever seen in dbd
They shouldn't endorse exploits
If they want it, they'll make it apart of his basekit and actually balance it
Otherwise, it should be removed.
@Mandy said:
As we have said, this is an unintended mechanic that will be fixed - at the present time I don't have a fix date for you though.
Many thanks for the confirmation!

Which is basically 3/4 teams in red ranks...
I'd say most people don't know how to play against a hag from my experience
Hell, I hardly know how to beat a hag - I just try to mess with their traps as much as I can and hope my teammates can pick up the slack
-
Fun is in the eye of the beholder I'd say
Many people like the methodical planning that playing a set up killer brings. Coralling survivors into your web of traps and so on. It's like asking why people enjoy playing Trapper - most of the game you're chasing people as machete man but your traps can come in clutch, it's the same for hag but on steroids because your traps are so powerful when used right
Also, really good hag players don't really get slowed down when they teleport - they teleport and immediately swing, leaving little recourse for survivors. It's so strong that it's gross. Most hags won't loop, they'll trap every loop for the most part

That is true, however no one was truly happy with New Freddy's power, and the recent nerf just made it worse.
Even if he doesn't line up with the current "blueprint" (which is amazing), it is not a good idea to let him stay like this, with a generic power that very few actually enjoy.
Perhaps you can give me some insight why people have been asking for Old Freddy back all of a sudden? I'm just curious because while I've sometimes seen the odd person asking for old freddy back I've seen it a lot more lately despite how much of a mockery it was made into way back pre-rework
-
They won't
This is one of their measures of curbing the 'toxicity' of the DBD community
Out of sight, out of mind - I guess?
-
@GeneralV said:

Back then? You mean, with pallet vacuum, double pallets and infinite loops?
I think he suits the current state of the game.
Well old freddy doesn't really line up with the way BHVR likes to design killers these days. They've drastically shifted and reworked most killers to fit their 'new blueprint' if you will. Look at how they reworked Doctor, for example.
I don't think they're ever gonna make a killer who can't even hit survivors without having to do something first or a killer who's power reduces your action speed like old freddy did.
This is all just my perspective though, none of it is fact.

I don't quite understand why people want Old Freddy back all of a sudden
Is it nostalgia? I can't wrap my head around it. I kinda liked the concept of old freddy but I just don't think it suits the current state of the game. Not anymore than it did back then at least

Techincally No mither is the best anti-slugging perk because the killer will never slug you while you have it...
For real though, you can't go wrong with WGLF. Tenacity's a guilty pleasure though
