What about on the HUD? Does it flash over the health bar to let teammates know they’re no dying just yet?
There is/was a time where you'd see a blue camaraderie icon in the bottom right when it procced on a teammate. I remember I made a thread about this when it was added
idk if it's broken now or just nobody runs it so nobody sees it but, yeah
It should appear on the left HUD though as a unique icon or something.
-
I mean, if you're playing with a 4 man swf who give up against a Legion you might as well just alt f4 at that point then. I get Legion boring but jeez
Outside of that you'll just be ruining a game for randoms, which I think we need less of not more lol.
-
Everyone would just pick Nurse or Blight
Would kind of defeat the point of it really

If BHVR wants killers to hook people, then why didn’t they address any of the reasons why killers are sometimes forced to slug?
Why is it that when bully SWFs literally go into a game to make fun of the killer, and sometimes do this publicly on a stream, it’s not considered unhealthy for the game? Why is griefing only important when it happens to survivors?

If they want me to hook, maybe don't nerf Pain Res and Pop and Grim Embrace, while buffing Off the Record and Dead Hard and DS and Sabotaging and Flashbang, and allowing flashbang to be bugged, and adding Shoulder the Burden.
And before you accuse me of anything, literally the only time I ever used knock out was for Bubba Adept. I agree that it needed a rework. But the idea that the knockout rework encourages killers to hook is just wrong. Playing killer I find myself more and more pushed towards slugging people because if I try to hook I get punished.
My post wasn't really meant to be a big statement on balance, I was just stating what I consider to be a fact about the devs/BHVR and that's why they make these kind of changes. On top of addressing player complaints I mean.
Not saying it always makes sense, mind.
-
Knockout's being changed because it promotes unhealthy playstyles that heavily punish solo q survivors
BHVR want killers to hook people, not leave them to bleed out for several minutes. This is also why the slug surrender mechanic is being added, so instead of a 4 man having to wait to die they can just give up and move on fast.

Forcing killers to wait an entire 10 minutes without generators being completed, but allowing survivors to instantly surrender the split second after all of them are slugged, doesn’t seem very equal to me.
Also, we’ve had a lot of people claim that survivors being able to surrender will encourage killers to slug more.
…So why aren’t these same people complaining that killers being able to surrender will encourage survivors to excessively hide more? If the killer surrenders, the survivors will win, because either the game will instantly end, or the killer will be replaced by one of the horribly bad killer bots.
I mean I kind of agree, killers should be able to surrender probably whenever they want to as long as they've spent a certain amount of time in a match regardless of gen status
But idk why you're asking me that question, I don't know? All I said was the surrender mechanic is more important because from both my personal experience and the experiences of others, I see killers bleeding out/wasting survivor time more than I do the opposite scenario
Only exception being survs wasting time in exit gates during EGC but, at least as killer you can do something about that yk, push them out.
-
Legion can already spam their ability though, they get it back immediately after landing a hit. All the buffs are mainly QOLs that just make playing them less tedious such as the fatigue or having to run duration addons.
If you want to avoid thana when vsing Legion, keep 1 person healthy and the perk does basically nothing for them. People think Legion = no healing ever but that's completely wrong and you're playing into the Legions hands if you go by that philosophy.
-
I think staggering the updates is probably for the best, just in case something gets broken or abused massively.
Though the thing with survivors hiding seems more like an edge-case thing than something that's quite rampant. I think giving both sides the means to exit a match without being penalised seems more important in the bigger picture
-
I follow a golden rule while playing Killer
If you make me laugh, you get to live. Usually
People take this game way too seriously sometimes, so seeing people having a bit of a goof and joining in myself is always nice.

That's fair, 2 turrets will still guarantee a crawler loss. I wonder if after being burned out if that also takes 13x longer to regain crawler mode? I'd hope not - if so, maybe they want to force killers to use tunnels to get back crawler.
That's another part of Xenomorph that's really lame, like nobody likes having to stop what they are doing to enter a tunnel and walk back and forth for a few seconds just to get their power back.
It's also lame for the survivors because you spend time setting up turrets to burn xeno out of their power only for them to just undo it in a matter of seconds anyway.
It's worse for the Xeno player due to the sheer boredom of it, a lot of the time I don't even bother it's more fun to keep chasing and playing than it is to waste time doing that lol

Not buffed, it's generally a massively huge nerf. Now you cant realistically lose your heat. Heat dissipation dropped from 25 per second to 2 per second and wont kick in for a multitude of seconds with a very slight increase to max heat buildup to compensate. The compensation isn't worth it, as the new setup, you're pretty much guaranteed to get dropped out of crawler mode now since the heat pretty much won't ever go away. Every single turret now, even a one second burst, will be problematic. Xeno already was a very low pick, and now they have uber nerfed it further. I feel they are essentially wanting to remove the xeno from the game without actually doing it.
The changes to heat build up and the amount it takes to remove crawler mode might not even matter if the two turret strat still works
Def seems like these changes lean more toward a nerf than a buff, though there are some buffs in there like faster tunnel exit time, longer killer instinct radius etc.

Yes and I'm so excited this is killer deserved love after so long of be deemed "hardest killer"
I wouldn't go as far as to call them the 'hardest killer' personally. I think people underrate the idea of having the first hit of a chase basically be 100% guaranteed and unavoidable.
But yeah having to get that last hit as a pure M1 90% of the time did make them quite a challenge against really good survivors.
-
What's there to say?
For a slight nerf to deep-wound, Legion gets a pure numbers buff in basically every category. Unless the addons got butchered which is highly unlikely this is just a pure buff with no real downside other than the deep wound change but that affects the whole game since deep wound is a global mechanic not exclusive to Legion
The best part is the lower fatigue time and the extra chained hit speed though.
-
For me it's not about power strength or weakness etc it's just
The killer really doesn't feel like I'm playing a Xenomorph at all. The mobility aspect of the power is a bit frustrating to use since it's reliant on fixed spots that you can't decide on and it gives the survivors so many signals that it has no real stealth or jumpscare factor.
The tail doesn't really have much skill to it and that doesn't mean it's easy to use but there's not really a whole lot to it either? I'm fine with simple chase powers, but Xeno's just doesn't feel great to me.
The turret aspect to it while I don't think is a massive problem balance wise, it's def not very high on the 'enjoyment' scale either. Especially now that survivors know how to use them more efficiently (placing two turrets near each other to guarantee a power loss for xeno).

I completely disagree with his take on the killer role is asymms and why nobody wanted to play killer in VHS, but I've also never developed a game.
VHS failed because the Monster role was boring and lacked any skill expression whatsoever. It had absolutely nothing to do with not being able to camp or tunnel. Even then, it was often a case of git gud. I won more than not on Monster.
The problem was that it was mechanically flat and repetitive. You could lose a game at any corner, and tracking was a chore, which absolutely killed the pacing. Matches were way, way, way too long. Pig would have been the most mechanically complex Monster in VHS.
They didn't need to add camping and tunneling. They needed to improve the tracking aspect to increase engagement, implement anti-ambush mechanics sooner, and give monsters something beyond a generic pounce. Every monster was copy/paste with a slight tweak.
Not to mention being physically forced to stare at the ceiling any time you got a hit lol
Talk about trying to fix what wasn't broken with dbd's post hit 'weapon wipe' idea
-
They destroyed distortion as a means of countering the killers who make aura reading really oppressive, mainly nurse but there's one or two others who fit into this category as well
I think they went too far, personally but same time most of the cast can't always capitalise on aura perks and some outright need the info. In terms of trade off, it's not too bad. I just wish aura reading had more counters so Nurse with aura perks had some actual counterplay but that's just Nurse in general I suppose.
-
Frank will always be the face of the Legion as he's the group leader and the main backstory lore is about him. If Julie is the default selected legion for someone who's never picked legion before it's likely a very very rare bug nobody's ever noticed since i imagine most people who play legion mess with their cosmetics at least once
BHVR messes up Legion stuff all the time tho, the newest legion christmas cosmetic is said to be Joey but it uses Frank's lobby animations, as a random recent example.

Keep in mind the Entity does have plant like/organic-like elements to it.
That's where the 'hallowed blight' came from, as it's said the entity would undergo a yearly 'purge' of some kind which causes it to become blighted and sprout the pustula flowers. From these flowers is where the serum is distilled and created by Talbot aka The Blight himself. This has since stopped since that series of events has concluded but it makes you wonder what would cause the Entity to need to 'purge' itself like that, almost like it was infected with a disease or something.
The serum also reanimates the dead into zombie-like creatures, as seen with the blighted rat/crow addons for example.

I looked for some extra context and I'm guessing he (and someone else too) got banned for encouraging griefing

is that normal for the forums to ban people who make semi decent points w/o breaking rules to get banned here or is there just a "report people i dont like until they get banned" issue? cause looking at old posts it looks like that happens a lot.
Nope, not at all
You have to actually try to get banned here, I've been here for about 4 years, said some pretty harsh things about BHVR and had some pretty heated discussions with other forum goers and I've only been (very nicely i will add) warned once.

Swap Small Game for Tapp's perk 'Detective's Hunch' and work on gens while you can
Detective's Hunch will give you exact totem locations and goes off every time a gen is done with a very wide radius so combined with counterforce you'll know where totems are and won't need small game. It'll also add them to a map if you have one, even a green map.

Or, if you were bold, "…maybe I have time to finish this gen". That is when the Block add-ons were useful.
Ah, I miss him so, so much. What I wouldn't do to get my killer back.
That reminds me, I think my favourite aspect of old freddy when I was a new player was how authentic it was when you were awake and you'd see survivors hover into the air and seemingly slap themselves onto hooks. Def one of the most iconic Freddy details that's no longer really a thing
Then again there was also times where you'd spawn in, hear the lullaby then immediately people start DCing on the spot.
Fun times.

Would be cool if the 'daily' system could be reworked to give iri shards for completing them as well. BP's nice and all but after a while you get enough offerings/BP from challenges etc that they just become a bit pointless
However a daily system that rewards an important currency for new players (getting new characters) and old players (getting new cosmetics) would be incredible.

The empathy argument is invalid, because it doesn't apply to both sides of the game. What things do survivors do, that lower their chances of survival, out of empathy for killers?
You could argue a lot of things tbh
A lot of survivors don't bring items, map offerings or full meta builds.
A lot of survivors play soloQ by choice instead of SWFing
Hell some survivors are willing to give hooks/kills to a killer who struggled a lot. Rarely and some killers would rather they don't but it's still a thing that can and has happened.
All of these are things that objectively lower a survivors chance of 'winning'.
Granted you can never know that a survivor's doing this to 'have empathy' for the other side but the fact that survivors do these things at all does show that not everyone is simply minmaxxing trying to always win no matter what they have to do.
Or if you're talking in an actual match, a lot of survivors don't go out of their way to annoy killers when there's plenty of ways to do so like BMing, loud noise spamming. Aka they just play the game normally.
-
I think these questions were asked so the devs know what the survey taker defines as a 'tweak, update, rework' as since later on it asks what killers need tweaks, updates, reworks etc.
Basically these questions are just there to make it clear what the person taking it is asking for. Maybe there's confusion on the difference between an 'update' and a 'rework' for example. idk.

placebo changes that accomplished nothing. the difference between 24 second hold-w and 20 second hold-w is as long as before. if you get to nearly same loop as before change as after the change, the change effectively didn't help. STBFL is where buff happened and than it got nerfed. now it is like worse than before. What change addressed is that speed boost and hit recovery were SO LONG that survivor could run forward break line of sight and you would DROP chase because survivor was too far away. this more of quality of life change than something that radically impacts the game.
Also, those game delay perks aren't significantly worse than before, and they certainly weren't worse with the launch of 6.1.
aren't significantly worse? Like what?
Pop goes weasel was 25% on-kick regression perk. 20 second regression. Current pop is like 5%-10% regression perk. even if we account for base-kit kick, you average like 8%-12%.
Dead man switch was a perk that blocked every single generator for 45 second. today's version of dead man switch blocks 1 GEN for 50 seconds. super abusable perk for swf or even someone that understand how the perks by just going to any gen 1% gen, tap gen, let go. perk gone.
Pain res was 15%, unlimited usage perk with information. today's version is 20% with 1 time usage per survivor. Supposing an almost near best case scenario, where you hook and trigger the perk all 3 times in early game, you get 60% regression. the near best case scenario for old perk was that you hook 6 times on scourge hook and get 6x15% for 90% regression. even if you get 0 pain res after that, it was significantly better perk.
Ruin was 200% regression.
Sloppy was permanent mangled. now it is some useless timed perk that goes away by time you get unhooked and than some.
My simple opinion is that the patch was used as an excuse to nerf overall killer. Your post doesn't convinced me otherwise.
You're wrong about Sloppy Butcher. It's still good.
It's 90s of mangled, which is longer than a hook state + It still counters medkit self heals, forcing survivors to either waste loads of time healing through it, finding a teammate and making them heal or sitting on a gen injured making them an easy target for killers
And that's by itself. There's other options to run with it to further increase it's potency like Leverage for example.
-
The whole BM thing stops being annoying after a while and just becomes funny, especially when it doesn't distract you in your gameplay. Don't get me wrong though I'm not defending it and I never do it myself outside of the occasional headnod/headshake in return.
Survivors bming just makes it all the more funnier when they inevitably mess up, since very rarely do survivors play 100% perfect no mistakes. Sure it can get frustrating when you feel powerless but that happens anyway, it's just how matches go sometimes.
Killers bming, well usually they do this when the game's over and they're just trying to waste your time. In which case I just alt tab and watch a video while they're wasting their own time. Then I just say gg and click continue. Must be pretty frustrating for them to spend all that time anticipating salt and they get nothing but a gg and wasted time lmao

Sincerely, I love horror. I love this game. And I love this community. I’ve always found a home in the horror genre- I’m sure many of us can relate. For one reason or another we are all here enjoying this game together.
@TheSingularity (pre and post 😊)
@C3Tooth We all miss you
@CountOfTheFog 😊😄💐
@Shroompy 😊😄💐
+ Everyone else I didn’t list!!! 💐💐💐
I’m a huge fan of being the change you want to see. The above people have demonstrated a willingness to be that change while remaining their authentic selves. I see Dbd reflected in every single person listed and on this forum. These people will give you the best that they have to offer. Why not match that passion and be the change you want the dbd community to become? Why not? It can happen. They can help you get there.
I wanted to thank @For_The_People for being the first person from the forums that I’ve ever played Dbd with. He is a very sweet person who will give you his time of day in earnest if you need him to. He’s one of the prime examples of politeness in this community. Thank you for being a positive force in the community. 😊😊😊
Lastly I need to thank @solarjin1 . What can I say? When you meet a friend that gets you, you both just know it. Her courage to be funny and humorous are so infectious. She told me that the small pallet in rpd was the most op pallet. I was so naive of game knowledge that I believed her! LMAO! After that I realized that it was anything goes when it came to humor with her. I’m at my best when I can be silly. Solarjin1 is that friend who brings out the best in me. Thank you Solarjin1 for all the laughs and for the laughs to come 😂 I’m going to be collecting🤣🤣🤣
None of this would be possible if we didn’t have a phenomenal community team here to support us discussing this twisted hobby we all have. Thank you again to everyone at Bhvr for putting your hearts and souls (ha!) into everything that is Dbd.
They say you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar…
Let’s just use blood instead 🩸😈🩸
Happy Holidays everyone, I hope everyone stays safe and has a wonderful New Years 😊🎉
I was not expecting to be mentioned, thank you so much!
You more than deserve the praise you've been given! Thank you for helping make the forum (and by extension the DBD community as a whole) a better place!

The main focus about the slugging questions should be on Killer's intentionally bleeding people out imo
Being slugged in a normal game sucks sometimes but it's perfectly reasonable most of the time and doesn't last too long unless it's a killer who's entire strat is slugging people to death.
-
I've semi-mained Doctor for a while and have a pretty good grasp on him overall. There's a few things I wanna say.
First his AOE static blast, it does have a counter. Lockers. If you jump inside of a locker or slowly get inside of one in time you can completely avoid it. His blast has a loud audio start up cue but in general if you're vsing a doc and he hasn't used it yet, chances are when you start to hear the TR he's about to.
Next up is the skillcheck thing. I will agree that if you're vsing a certain kind of doctor even good players will struggle with the skillchecks from time to time. In all of my time playing Merciless Storm Doc I don't think I've ever seen a group of survivors hit all of the skill checks in a row. It's that insane
That said, skillcheck perks are niche at best and regular skillchecks aren't so bad for most people I'd say. Four proper slowdown perks on most of the cast is quite hard for a lot of casual teams/solo Q matches so that's not really a 'Doc' problem imo.
Fake doctors and pallets aren't that bad, good to decent survivors pay more attention to the map and will generally know where you are, what pallets you've broken or where you've chased teammates.
The thing that'll mess most survivors up are the addons that make Doc's shock hit you faster since it reduces the survivor's margin of error in chase and makes it more likely for vaults/pallet throw attempts to fizzle out. At which point most people just pre-drop pallets before the shock comes out if they can.
-
Tombstone def wouldn't exist
Those addons are some of the oldest things from classic dbd that's still in modern DBD
-
Bleedouts. Self explanatory
Stealth hostage gamers. Self explanatory.
Psudeo-hatch standoffs (killer keeps slugging for 4k while the other standing surv just hides). This isn't fun for anyone and just drags the game out. Not faulting either side for this, I just hate when it happens.
-
Probably Flashbang or Plot Twist
I see these perks a lot and they aren't really meta staples, but they are really fun so It's understandable - I enjoy plot twist especially

No doubt, I really feel that DBD's code is holding it back from being more creative with Killer designs…and also looking better.
While you're mostly correct, I do think Chucky and Dracula show that BHVR is willing to deviate a bit from the standard formula. Chucky bringing in 3rd person and Dracula with his shapeshifting between multiple forms opens a lot of doors.
Houndmaster even incorporated 3rd person slightly with her redirect function.
I just hope future designs use it in more creative ways. If Twins was made today, 100% Victor would probably be third person
-
It essentially feels like a 'minimise complaints solve issue later' method of balancing and while I don't think it'll be done too often I do agree it's a worrying precedent because we don't know how long these deemed problematic things will stay the way they are

Niche, mid, very mid, incredibly mid. BF works well on some survivors but smart folks know how to play around it. It is a godsend on Game at least.
There's a reason BF is not and has never been meta.
The rest of these are kind of a fart.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857115#Comment_3857115
And yet you never see it in any sort of top level or tourney play, even where other perks are restricted.
Why do you think that is?
Because… Comp is completely different to regular dbd?
Do you think Rancor is a super strong meta perk, since last I checked a lot of comp killers use it.
The correct answer is because it's outclassed. Both sides have perks that are leagues above others that's the nature of DBD balance in a nutshell really.

tru3 is known for reporting real life in-game situations that happen frequently on an average basis. part of reason why i am making this post is because i had a similar game where i lost my totems within 2-3 minutes of the match. a bit later than he did.
high risk high reward. high reward implying that the perk has large cieling in which it gain effective gameplay value. For example if a killer bring a perk. say eruption and they kick a gen 4 times a match and gen explodes for 40% total regression. that is mild to low reward for the perk. Hex:ruin in this game did not get ANY % of regression. we can forget about "High reward", the perk isn't even passing the MINIMUM reward test, let alone high reward.
If the defense Hex Totem perks are too good at their job,
The perk are not effective at the job at all. normally the conceptual idea of a totem defence perk is that when you equip the perk, the perk has higher totem life time expectancy than if the player does not bring the perk. there is no point in bringing hex perks if the average life expectancy is same with the perk as it is without the perk. When the killer equip thrill, he is expected to be able to interrupt totems. tru3 walked to his totem and was not able to defend the totem, so even when the killer knows to defend totem, he still cannot gain value from his own perk.
He's running hex perks in a meta where survivors have had to put up with full hex builds for nearly a month. A lot of survivors check for thrill at the start of the match now and make sure hexes get cleansed
It'd be like complaining about everyone having unbreakable in a meta that heavily rewards killers for slugging

Name two totems that are high reward without mentioning Devour.
NOED and Blood Favour
Both perks can give you free downs I'd say that's high reward

But he's running pentimento…? A perk that wants survivors to cleanse hex totems and is much stronger than ruin…?
And he won the match with Pentimento staying up most of the time…?
-
My head-canon is they were all eaten by dredge and that's the lore for the frosty cosmetic
It's what happened to Maurice too!
-
I think there's argument for it to stay a scourge hook since that allows you to choose when in the match to use it. I know most people probably just want to use all 4 stacks asap but there's def situations and cases where doing that would be a waste
That's how I see it at least
-
Dissolution is a terror radius perk and survivors in the dream world are oblivious aka freddy has no terror radius while they are in the dream world
-
we'll make it or hope probably
most will go with resillience i imagine
-
There are several glaring issues with these perks and it bothers me how they are outclassed by old stuff.
First of all - syringes; they don't take up a perk slot and they heal you in 16s base, more with perks/addons. That alone makes these two perks completely wasted slots. If healing passively is what you want, they are outclassed in every way.
Second of all - second wind and resurgence. Both of these perks outclass these perks in almost every category. Their activation conditions are lax, they go off at important times and you are more likely to see success from them than you are with glory/break.
Why bring perks that require specific activation conditions and force you to stay injured for a whole minute when you can just bring a medkit or have a teammate heal you.
Keep in mind, 1 teammate healing you only takes 16 seconds whereas Clean Break requires 16 seconds + 60 seconds due to its activation condition. How is this a net positive for the survivor?
-
See, the fact it's completely in the survivors control whether the perk can be used or not is what leads to it punishing killers who aren't even doing the thing it's probably meant to be countering (Which I imagine is either tunnelling or focusing hook states on 1/2 survivors and ignoring others).
Surely a more healthy solution would be making it something that's more in the killer's hands. Take reassurance or camaraderie - If the killer isn't trying to force someone who's 2nd stage to die, which is usually where these perks see most value then it's almost a wasted perk slot. These perks are really strong IF the killer decides to use those tactics but are wasted slots if they don't.
Shoulder the Burden on the other hand is almost never a waste of a perk slot unless you happen to be the survivor who's getting targetted first, in which case someone else with the perk can bail you out. Even if the Killer's not tunnelling you, the killer is still being punished in a way for hooking you.
The IDEA for the perk, letting more confident survivors sacrifice a huge resource in order to help a struggling survivor out is amazing but in execution it's a bit all over the place.

This sort of hack is old, it's been around for awhile but never had a DC penalty attached. Wonder if the devs recently implemented a penalty for those who die too early/let go on hook, and now everyone's feeling it thanks to hackers.
It's been a thing for quite a while, at least 2023
It's just regular players will never see it because it only goes off if you quite literally do nothing. I'm not 100% sure what the conditions are but it's def possible survs are being killed so fast by the cheater that the game thinks they did nothing in the game therefore they were afk the whole time
It might actually be the cheater's reason for doing what they are doing, just to grief.

I think it's because the game is treating you as if you were AFK
There's some kind of built in anti-AFK system that gives penalties if you do literally nothing in a match or something like that. It was made to punish people who' do stuff like AFK wraith
