It actually used to but BHVR made it pallet stuns only so they didn't have to make new stun perks with endurings timings in mind and I think that's prob for the best.
People used to run enduring purely just to counter DS lol p funny times
-
- The buff to thrill changes nothing about the versitility of the game. Gen regression builds make survivors have to sit on gens longer, thrill makes survivors have to sit on totems for longer. No difference apart from the fact ignoring totems in some games gets you killed
- No it doesn't, it encourages one of two things; having to bring nothing but anti-totem perks 'just in case' or encourages survivors to just ignore hex totems altogether; nothing new or creative here.
- The 'old' hex perks have struggled for relevence due to their fragile nature and lackluster effects (except devour arguably) but that's not true of all hex perks; hex plaything and pentimento have been meta staples for a good while now and have not struggled at all.
-
While distortion was very controversial I think it's nerf was unjustified because it was one of the only perks that allowed you to actually counter aura reading Nurse/Blight (which just got a buff with Houndmaster's new perk).
I think most people would agree against a Nurse who can see you through walls there's very little you can do.
-
Tbh while it should've been in the PTB I think BHVR just didn't realise how much impact adding 4% to a perk that I imagine doesn't see much play would cause
I don't think anyone could've guessed thrill of the hunt would shoot up to meta status over night but here we are.
-
Imagine a walking dead legendary that has Houndmaster cosplaying 'King' from Walking Dead with/ a Tiger

I voted rimworld

Something I wanna mention as well, people defending this perk and wanting it to stay like this - be careful because if it does stay as is and uncleansable hex builds get out of control BHVR could very well give them the regression perk treatment
aka changing the base game in such a way to deal with the big complaints. For example, imagine if they made hex cleansing progress not reset when interrupted. It'd fix a key problem with hexes being uncleansable but it'd be punishing the entirety of the hex playstyle because of strats created by one or two perks being too strong
Just something to consider
-
Maybe being marked should do something a little bit more threatening than giving you a deep wound if you get hit/making you glow orange and (again from what I've seen) very brief killer instinct.
Like I don't think it should expose you or anything like that, but it's a bit silly how you're giving deep wound to a survivor you're probably committing to, in which case deep wound is only really good for ignoring DH (or proccing made for this lol).
Maybe it's fine as it though I just think it's a weird status effect that's not intuitive.

Just got back from a DbD break, what did they do to thrill?
Basically they removed all the extra bp bonuses from perks like no one left behind, thrill etc and gave them a small compensation number buff. In thrill of the hunts case, it went from 10% slower cleansing speed per totem to 14%. From 50% to 70%
This also causes a bit of an issue with one of thrill's built in counter-measures; cleansing dull totems to weaken it. Since Pentimento is a meta staple for many killers/builds right now, it's an extremely bad idea to go around cleansing dull totems. Especially if you're wasting a lot of time in the process.
-
Thrill was already in a good spot prior to this buff if you ask me, couple this with Pentimento being a meta staple now and one of the newest perks that blocks a totem the first time someone touches it for an extra 15 seconds yeah I can see hex builds getting really irritating
Pentimento builds are even stronger now if you use thrill

The only people who are owed an actual apology are people who spent real hard earned money on one of the worst chapters ever released imo.
Though hating a character and voicing your disdain for said character does not make you a "bully" and whoever you're referring to probably does it to more than just SM players. Some people are just scummy like that.
Saying BHVR is "siding" with those people is objectively wrong though.
People got (and still probably do) harrassed for using dead hard
People got harrassed for playing AFK pig
People got harrassed for infectious fright starstruck nurse
BHVR still changed them because it was overall the right decision to make.
Personally I will probably always hate Skull Merchant for many reasons, 70% of which are down to personal preferences.
-
My biggest worry is killers with unique status effects, (Which is half the roster) how are they going to make them work if there's multiple?
Like E.g imagine they add Doc and Plague - will the gamemode make it so you can only pick one 'status effect' killer or will they put in the extra effort to make both status effects work at the same time
-
I don't think he's OP, though he is quite a lot stronger than base wraith due to the innate skill buffs. Having shadowdance and faster uncloak addons built in takes some getting used to
End of the day he's a regular m1 killer and if he seperates from his teammate he has to play all the tiles normally p much.

Let me paint a picture
Doctor in 2v8.
8 Yun-Jins all in madness tier 3.
Eardrum status = gone.

Been a long road, maybe after this you can finally retire in peace.
I'm hoping for the best myself as someone who also wants the best for freddy

It's sad until you think about how close 2025 really is tbh

You can say it's not fair to compare what was done to the franchise but that's the very reason we didn't get the creeper from jeepers creepers in this game and at that time was a chapter alot of people really wanted, while I personally don't care if fnaf is in the game or not, I do know that there's an equal amount of people that oppose it being in the game but it is what it is, hopefully it's a fun chapter for all
Scott's not a convincted criminal, I think that's the big difference with that
I get what you mean though.

it would go a long way if you showed any sensitivity on the subject. people are clearly upset and for very valid reasons, and this is an extremely tense subject. for me to stop reminding you that this is an extremely tragic thing to happen for a lot of people, you need to show that you don't need the reminder.
the very first response says "despite the naysayers" and you had nothing to say to that guy. but responses to me are instant. hmm.
Calling it tragic is a bit much though. Nobody has died from FNAF being put into DBD. That's what actual tragedy is imo.
And don't get me wrong, people are completely within their right to be upset about it, totally. I respect that POV.
The franchise's top dude donated some money to people with abhorrent beliefs and values but he's 1 dude. His company and BHVR employ a lot of people from all walks of life, is it not unfair to tar them all with the same brush? I'm not even looking to defend BHVR since I think in their current state they're pretty greedy and have made a lot of bad decisions.
But It's been known for a while known BHVR is currently working with Blumhouse for the DBD film, the same studio that made the FNAF film (and sequels I think). Where was the upset when that happened? BHVR is directly working with a company that supported this Scott dude, is that not the same thing?
Or their collabs with the other companies who, if you do some research, have their own controversies?
People give money to corporations and companies that do harm to the world every day, this could just be seen as another example.
Imo the best thing one can do is just stick to your values with stuff like this. If BHVR has really messed up in your eyes, don't give them your money or attention anymore. Focus on the positive things that do deserve those things.

That's nice?
This post isn't trying to do anything to change your opinion, I said so like five times. As long as you don't use any of the quoted arguments above to justify your hate, and as long as whatever arguments you do use aren't factually wrong, I don't really have an issue. We're going to disagree, but that's fine.
If you wanna fix SMs reputation, you should probably try convincing people that playing against her is fun and worth their time instead of trying to 'objectively' prove xyz.
Most people who complain about her don't really care what argument they use, they just know they hate her. That's what it seems like to me.

Appreciate the kind words!
There are definitely a few things that could be improved, but I'd argue nothing super transformative. A few small nerfs, some moderate QoL issues, maybe one or two things buffed to offset the nerfs, and she'd be totally fine. The only thing that can save her reputation, if anything, is just time for the fire to die down, but in the meantime a few small adjustments can help those who pay more attention.
imo you won't ever save her reputation.
i mean this in good faith, I'm sure you've done your homework and that what you've got to say about her gameplay makes sense but that will never change the fact that I despise this character and would be much happier if she was removed from the game entirely.
To me personally, Skull Merchant represents everything wrong with modern killer design. It's not that she's too strong, it's not that she's OP, overtuned - however you want to put it. The simple gist of it is, she is FRUSTRATING to play against and sucks the enjoyment out of the matches she's apart of for the majority of people. This is why she's the killer people just straight up give up while playing against (I don't endorse this, for the record it's lame behaviour).
She isn't the only killer this applies to but she is one of the most egregious, along with killers like Twins and Knight. Couple that with a lame base design that BHVR has to heavily compensate with new cosmetics, a backstory that feels more like a first draft than a finished product.
This last point is extremely petty but she also ruined shelter woods.
I'm glad some people can get enjoyment from this character, but for me - I'd be much happier without and no amount of "debunking" will really change that.
-
No mither only on survivor. No items no offerings.
Bring on the pain.
-
smh clickbait on dbd forums.
what's this place come to
-
Okay then here's my counter argument
Instead of asking for a bug to remain unfixed, petition behaviour to add it as a basekit feature.
The reason people aren't and won't do this is because it's unreasonable, you're asking for one of the strongest killers in the game to be buffed and it's obvious it won't happen but imo that's what you should be doing if you're that passionate about it

Then you are purposefully misunderstanding it, Blight is not unfun, but using techs such as hug tech give the killer more depth and stuff you can experiment around with, whereas Bump logic just works and will more often than not put the survivor in a spot where they will get hit regardless...
It is not that he is unfun, but some things on him are just more fun than others.
One of LilithOmen's own arguments in his video from a while ago defending hug tech literally boils down to "bump logic is stronger and survivors will hate it more" aka they will find it more boring to go against.
If people really feel strongly about this then ideally they should be campaigning for this to added purposefully into his basekit and then balanced appropriately but I doubt anyone will do that because you're asking for one of the strongest killers in the game to be buffed. It'd be like asking for Nurse to be buffed

Hug tech is just gambling your tokens away to create 50/50s that are 100/0s for blight if you actually know how to play him
I don't know how people can say he's weaker with the stuff being removed but then say oh it's a gamble/show off it's stronger to play him normally.

That's all I get from this response
If some people think a bug was the only thing that made Blight fun then idk what to say that's hilarious.

People tend to express their opinions freely, and suggesting that they're causing harm by holding certain beliefs might not encourage them to silence themselves; in fact, it could have the opposite effect. Personally, I believe it's not a great idea to make others feel bad about their beliefs. Instead, I prefer engaging with those I disagree with in open, constructive conversations conducted in good faith. This approach, in my view, is more effective.
In the end, fostering an environment built on mutual respect, empathy, and understanding tends to lead to more productive discussions and positive outcomes compared to shaming or belittling people for their beliefs. It's generally not recommended to intentionally make individuals feel bad about holding mistaken beliefs. While correcting misinformation and promoting accurate understanding are important, resorting to shame or ridicule often proves counterproductive.
My post has nothing to do with ridiculing or shaming. I don't really care what you believe
I'm just pointing out a fact. If you're trying to be helpful and empathetic to a community and their issues, you probably shouldn't go around calling a hideous creature wearing human clothes a caricature of that community. This strikes me as basic common sense.

The joke of those old comedy shows was "haha funny man in dress" which itself is a joke based in transphobia. I'm not saying you yourself are "A Transphobe" but you might want to stop and reanalyze what's funny about that joke.
On a personal level, I think the Eyeless Woman skin is great, the cheerleader one though definitely reads too much like a gross charicature, especially with the exaggerated underbite that also ends up reading as an ableist charicature. I earnestly think it needs an entire rework, it's on a similar (though less extreme) vibe to the Claudette mask for Bubba; even if the skin was made innocently, the ways the skin can be used needs BHVR's direct intervention asap.
Again calling it a 'caricature' is only doing harm and is perpetuating the notion that there's any truth to it, which there is not. People really need to stop calling it that, I don't understand how people who are trying to 'help' are going around saying that
It is nowhere near the claudette bubba mask thing, at least that one could be seen as offensive even in context. As much as I didn't like seeing content removed from the game it was understandable but this is nowhere close to being the same.
-
@jayoshi said:

I do. Caricature is creating a image of someone using exaggerated features that are seen as comical and grotesque.
Example:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YS8EPB7CQ903/screenshot-2024-03-14-134201.png
That image has grotesque features of a human male head with a human body wearing feminine clothing.
The person who did the female voice lines is a trans woman and she said if she knew it could be used the way that it has been used by some players, she would have never taken the job. Just because this doesn't affect you or your way of life, doesn't mean it doesn't affect others.
You must be trolling right, there's no way you genuinely believe what you wrote in this post
If you believe that image you posted is in any way is a caricature of a real person, I don't really know what to say.
Also for someone concerned about "how this is affecting others" you sure seem to not care that you're going around calling the image you posted a caricature of a real life group of people. You're doing more harm than good you know.

And the thing is people are not seeing it for what it is. They say "well what about charms. What about non-white characters. What about David. Should we remove them too because they could be used for racist and homophobic reasons???". Like that's not the point. The point is the Unknown is not even human. The unknown is not a trans person.
However, people can use the cosmetic mix match to create a caricature of a trans woman that is used by transphobic people (go to my previous post for examples). It is used to target people of a community to make them feel unwanted and to make them look like a freak. If BHVR had someone on their team that is in charge of looking out for things like this before they release cosmetics, characters, etc - then this whole thing could have been avoided by making it a linked cosmetic. I don't think it the outfit should be removed - but I don't think it should be used in a way that can target and create a hostile environment for anyone.
I know you have the best of intentions but even implying that a hideous monster with human clothes and hair stretched on it is somehow even a caricature of a real group of people, is both not helping and insulting to even say if you ask me
Just because the bad actors are 'claiming' it doesn't mean you have to legitimise it. What you should be saying is it's nonsensical.
I don't think some of you realise what you're saying lol

There's already a ton of representation. It doesn't need anymore.
Ideally it shouldn't matter if it has too much or too little
It should reach a point where BHVR does their thing and makes cool characters. If those characters just so happen to be from certain backgrounds or have certain identities then it's just one part of their whole thing instead of making it the central focus.
It feels like no matter how you slice it though, nobody will be satisfied. It's either too little, too much or like a lot of people, simple indifference.

It could be argued that the "complaints" themselves were an act of forcing censorship. I.E. "cancelling" someone or something.
Not necessarily, voicing your complaints is an integral part of improving something. If nobody ever complained nothing would ever improve imo
That being said I do understand what you mean and there are people out there who do try to misuse that to try to get things they simply don't like changed or removed etc. Was that the case here? I doubt it, I don't really remember any huge calls to have this changed - I imagine it was just something that got considered internally or something.

This has nothing to do about caring about other people. If it did, horror entertainment wouldn't exist. Its riddled with things that could cause all kinds of sensitivity triggers.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667268#Comment_3667268
It was needless. Thats the point I made.
Sure you can argue it's a needless or pointless change
But that doesn't make it censorship.
-
@KateMain86 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667255#Comment_3667255
The reason behind it is what matters. They can do what they want with their game, however we can criticize it. Changing something in a game to address potential sensitivities is censorship. They didn't do it because they thought the previous image didn't fit the map well.
Again that's not what censorship is
Creators can change their minds on their work, as long as the reasoning comes from them and not some external force like say, a ratings board or a publisher it's by definition not censorship. People changing their work with the benefit of hindsight is fine as long as it's not needless or unfounded.
-
@KateMain86 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667235#Comment_3667235
The previous map offering was in the game for a long while before it was changed. An external force doesn't have to come in and change it for it to be considered censorship. The reasoning behind it does. It was changed to address sensitivity triggers which is why I said a simple "this game has depictions of" warning would be all they really needed to do. The same argument could be used for other things in the game too, such as the dead animals you see on some maps in the game. A lot of things in the horror genre could easily trigger people with sensitivities by nature of what it revolves around. I think its pointless to try and reshape the art of horror to cater to sensitivities by removing them from it.
If you create something and you (as the creator) are unsatisfied with it then go back and change it, that's not censorship at all.
It's not the same thing.
-
@KateMain86 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667175#Comment_3667175
I've never understood the idea of catering to sensitives through censorship. I feel like a simple "This game has depictions of" warning when you launch the game would suffice. Even still, the horror genre is rooted in death so going into it things like this shouldn't be considered out of the ordinary.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3666368#Comment_3666368
If that is the case and its the visual of it that could cause the trigger then wouldn't the hanging men on both the Decimated Borgo and Grave of Glenvale potentially cause the same trigger?
To call it censorship is misguided, censorship implies somebody made it and then an external force came in and censored it. In actuality, BHVR likely looked at some complaints regarding the icon and decided it's better to change it than to leave it be
The problem I have is with the lack of consistency, I.E Hangman's trick being left as is. I feel like if there was a genuine care about this issue, they wouldn't have forgotten about it but they did.

I thought this originally too but i think i understand why they made that change now and why hangman's trick icon wasn't changed.
The dusty noose offering for one didn't fit the map because the quote implies using it for suicide. But, the hung people on the map didn't kill themselves, they were executed.
So the offering wasn't relevant to the map, therefore it's an "unnecessary reminder".
At first i thought it was an indication BHVR was going to start removing all references to self-harm/suicide but i think they changed it more for the former reason. Since the other things in the game that referenced these things never got changed.
But Peanits response says the icon might be an unnecessary reminder of those kind of thoughts, which is why it got changed
So my question is: How is an icon of somebody blatantly tying a noose any different?
I get that the in-game context is different but it's the exact same thing and if you ask me, it makes it look like they changed only the map offering icon because people specifically complained about it and didn't mention hangman's trick because it's a perk nobody uses or cares about
Plus, killers can put the hangman's trick perk icon on their hooks - Surely that would count as an unnecessary reminder to BHVR.
-
Daily reminder BHVR changed this offering icon but to this day have not changed the perk 'Hangman's Trick' despite that perk being even worse with it's icon due to it literally being somebody tying a noose
The perk was even updated semi-recently so, it just goes to show if you ask me
-
Ah, they used IS okay
That's neat then. I'm still skeptical on the idea of bundles but this is objectively a good change for newer players as it's a considerable reduction in grind
