This is a good change, I think. Losing the ability to buy individual DLCs is a bit of a shame, but the shard-price reduction more than makes up for it.

    I'm all for this!

Considering that the characters in question are half the price after this change, doesn't that still work out well for you?

That isn't being forced to pay more for extra content you don't want, that's effectively getting those chapters for free, you just need to grind for the shards- and considering you only need to grind half as long for each piece, that's still an upgrade compared to now.

Where does it explicitly say the shard price will be 50%

Because I'm not seeing it. Maybe the auric cell price will be but I'm skeptical if it's not mentioned explicitly.

Are we congratulating BHVR for not gouging it's customers?

I'm impressed when developers are pro consumer. I'm not impressed when developers are only pro consumer due to receiving negative feedback for their previous gouging attempts. Demonstrating respect for your customers should be the standard.

More so showing appreciation that a practice I complained about was changed

But like I said I'm not holding my breath, It's just as likely they'll do it again with the next original release

  • Daily reminder we called this, this thread is proof of that

People said oh it's ok its just christmas outfits, its just old halloween outfits

People just put up with it and they're milking it. This is why you should always speak up if you hate crap like this, even if you don't think it'll make any difference

  • I stopped playing last month after finishing the rift

Struggling to get motivation to start playing again, the newest amount of stagnation has hit harder. The increase of blatantly greedy practices with DLC pricing, the refusal to address stuff like MFT, Blight, Buckle up and so on has increased frustration.

Most DBD content is stale to watch as well, so the game isn't even entertaining for me to watch anymore. Especially when the content is 50% complaining.

  • They probably already had a reworked idea ready in case the buff did nothing

They saw the overwhelming negative response and probably went something like

"Yeah this change isn't gonna be well received, we should just push the rework instead"

    That's my guess

  • 1st priority is addons I like (Killer only)

Then 2nd priority is cakes, puddings and bps

    rest is auto buy filler

The argument that people are making, is that the geometry gliding is the reason Blight got that hit, and therefore geometry gliding is making Blight more powerful than he should be. This is false.

If people want the geometry gliding to be removed because it's probably unintended, then that's fine. But they shouldn't be spreading false information that the geometry gliding is the reason Blight got that hit. The fact that Blight has a collision problem, isn't an excuse to spread false information.

Good thing I never said it was the ONLY reason he got that hit. I will say I agree with the point that he could've got the hit without it but it doesn't change the facts; the player used it to get the hit. You can't deny that, it's factual.

Even then, all I said was you can't call this stuff "ok" and expect survivors to actually anticipate it and play against it. That's insane and makes 0 sense to me.

    Again

Blight didn't need to glide on top of map geometry to get that hit. There is another path, literally to the right of where Blight glided, that Blight could have traveled on, and still have gotten the same hit. Do you understand that the geometry gliding was just for show, and wasn't necessary at all?

    It doesn't matter lol

He shouldn't be able to do it in the first place, I get what you're trying to say but I don't get why you're defending Blight being able to break the rules of the game like this.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544528#Comment_3544528

Blight didn't need to glide on top of map geometry though. Instead of showing off, Blight could have dropped down, rushed to the right of the hook, bounced off the wall, and still have gotten the hit.

The survivor shouldn't have continued looping in the giant room, no excuses. A survivor choosing to stay in the big giant room, that's super easy for Blight to navigate with his M2, shows that the survivor really doesn't understand how Blight's M2 works at all.

    Again

I already said staying in an open room vs Blight is a bad idea

But it doesn't change the fact you seriously cannot ever expect survivor players to think in their heads "maybe this blight will somehow glide on top of map geomtry and hit me". I'm gonna repeat myself, that's completely ridiculous.

  • @HugTechLover said:

@Coffeecrashing said it perfectly. And this video clip doesn’t prove anything. That survivor made the worst choice of pathing possible. He could have 100% avoided that.

90% of players can’t play blight for nothin, and his stats reflect that. Outside of his 2 problematic addons, his basekit is completely fine.

Yeah I'm sure the survivor had the foresight to go

"Hm yes, I must go into this room because Blight can jump off of an elevated location and, using his overtuned speed addons, casually glide on top of map geomtry"

Like yeah I agree staying in the open area vs a Blight is a bad idea regardless but you seriously can't think this kind of thing is something players will ever account for. It's ridiculous.

So we have 4.4 killers - slinger (when best players pick them he's as strong or stronger as huntress, but in average he is slightly too weak), huntress (solid A), spirit (literally 3rd strongest killer), hag (still considered very strong in comp-hands, but sure enough - not the best killer - but can't be called weak one), trickster (weak one, but 2nd best camper in game - making him low-mmr stomper).

So how did you come to conclusion, that 4.4 = bad killer?

    Note, I didn't say 4.4 = bad

I said 4.4 = harder to use for newer players and usually have lower killrates

  • Huntress is balanced by three things

4.4, learning curve projectile and lullaby. That's more than enough

Spirit, like Nurse -is the exception and not the rule as their powers were insanely strong (and still are) but as BHVR keeps the balance patches rolling, they are getting weaker and weaker. Some people claim Spirit is horrible now, despite the fact she plays basically the same

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543704#Comment_3543704

i highly doubt that. they're not phasing 4.4 killers. it is just that there hasn't been a reason to make any of killers 4.4. closest killer that they could made 4.4 or slower is pinhead. If he had engineer fang base-kit, he could easily be like 4.0 m/s killer.

It's not that there hasn't been a reason to make a killer 4.4

It's because they design new killers in such a way that they don't need to be 4.4, since 4.4 is meant to be a balance downside. Instead it seems they're opting for more in-built counterplay options. Stuff like Knight's Banner, The vaccines, hacking drones, EMPS, Flame turrets etc

    That's my guess at least.

  • I think BHVR has been slowly phasing out 4.4 killers as a base because they consistently are some of the weakest killers in the game killrate wise and new players struggle to learn them. 4.6 killers are useable by newer players even if they have a complicated or skill expressive power like Blight

Whereas all 4.4 killers and Nurse, all require you to be constantly using your power otherwise you're at a huge disadvantage in regular chases

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3541690#Comment_3541690

I would think that if something gets marked as "not a bug" 3 times, that BHVR clearly knew what they were doing when they marked it "not a bug". There's zero room for misinterpretation with the ticket descriptions. All 3 tickets were clearly worded.

The most up to date and recent source says it is a bug

It's also inconsistent with every other scream perk (and powers) which does not trigger if you are in a locker

Therefore, yes - it is a bug as confirmed by BHVR and also by common sense

  • My guess is, this means that hacked drones don't auto return to SM/can't be recalled when they are in this state. I imagine this is so drones placed over gens which are then removed essentially create a 'dead-zone' around the gen where SM can't place another drone

It doesn't take a year and a half to at the very least make blight not be able rush while looking below a certain angle. I doubt the character will stay fluid in feel by any means they use to fix it.

The only real tech blight has is the hug tech and anything else is pretty much a derivative of it. But lets be real, a moon rush is simply not going to hit someone that is paying attention. If the blight has enough space to moonrush and the survivor is paying attention, there really shouldn't be a hit, especially when most things you can or are even a little bit worth moonrushing are at filler pallet tiles. It's one of those things that it doesn't matter if blight can moonrush as it's typically a bad idea in the first place. I could moonrush the filler car tile outside the front of badham preschool and give the survivor several opportunities to completely counter it or I could bump 4 times and at the very least get a pallet out. Who cares if it's not intended? It's fun and not strong.

But it does bend the rules though, right?

That's the issue here, no matter how fun or balanced you might think it is. The reason why Nurse is so strong is because her power by design bends the rules of the game. I think Blight having limitations and being able to ignore them doesn't really seem like good design imo

I get that you find it fun/balanced and the like, and I'm not saying it isn't necessarily. I just don't agree with the concept of it

  • @Sava18 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3539963#Comment_3539963

I mean is that the case? McClean knew the hug tech was a thing before he left and didn't remove it because blights collision wasn't where he wanted it to be at all. From that standpoint you could say it was technically intended by him the creator. Unfortunately I doubt anything regarding blights collision detection will be changed now that he is gone and a LOT of collision on maps has been changed to blights detriment since Wesker.

Like yeah you can refer to bhvrs statement they made a year and a half ago now but no one probably understands blight too thoroughly or is very good at him on the dev team.

He should receive add-on nerfs for sure, but the hug tech shouldn't be removed even if his collision does get fixed. It has more counterplay than normal blight majority of the time and the times it's strong is at filler tiles or only relatively strong because the tiles themselves don't accommodate his power in some way.

If BHVR comes out and says he is working as intended, then i shall accept that but they haven't and new bug reports about hug tech are being closed as 'duplicates' which carries an implication that the old bug report, the one BHVR responded to - is still valid and being looked into

It's not a hill I'm gonna die on but I def don't think it's fair to say it's working as intended. Hug tech is one thing, but Blight's being able to moonwalk during their power? How is that remotely intended behaviour of the power? It's not, it's bending the rules imo

  • @Crowman said:

Because Flashlights were part of an exploit for survivors to become invincible against most of the killers and hold games hostage.

Blight and Skull Merchant are working as intended.

    Ehh

'Working as intended' isn't quite right in Blight's case. I'm not saying he should be killswitched, but the fact he's allowed to bend the rules of his power's built in limitations isn't exactly 'working as intended' imho

It's fine overall but it's def not 'intended' if that makes sense. Permitted or accepted, sure I can accept that

  • There's a classic saying that applies to these people

Two wrongs don't make a right.

  • To each their own, this playstyle and character are a massive blight (no pun intended) on this game but, far be it from me to tell you how to play.

I just don't get why you wouldn't go against bots if you wanted easy stress free risk free wins. Why put other players through something you know is extremely boring and frustration inducing?

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3538610#Comment_3538610

then the question arises for me. why does bhvr do q&a's at all?

    Exactly

If you can't actually answer questions, what's the point of hosting an AMA in the first place

They know their community and they know what we are likely to ask about

  • Basically how it works is:

Hook survivor on gift of pain hook -> They become mangled/hemmoraged -> If they are healed after this point, they are given the 16% debuff until injured again -> Once injured again, the debuff goes away until rehooked

So to answer your question, it's the first time any survivor who was hooked on the scourge hook is healed. The debuff resets and can be re-applied once they are injured or downed by any means. Obviously this means you can only apply it twice per survivor since they die on the third hook.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3537717#Comment_3537717

as I said, I don't think killer are sold on double exhaustion perks in chases. I remember this because of a post regarding vigil to recover exhaustion while running. it was something like that. I was just explaining to @Brokenbones why that perk has many conditions and why dev are scared of bringing a perk like that.

The thing is, they could remove the death hook requirement and keep everything else and it would def see play but it wouldn't become super meta overnight. It'd be like Plot Twist, a situationally really strong perk with limited uses. It'd be easy to just waste it if you're not good as survivor

  • 1) New players learn from others that things such as "Camping, Tunnelling, Genrushing, Slugging" etc etc are behaviours that are considered bad signs of character so they feel justified in lashing out at those people and shaming them.

    2) Those new players perpetuate this behaviour and usually end up involved in some kind of echo chamber that reinforces their POV. Basically, people who really hate killer players surround themselves with people who think the same and vice versa for killer players. This also extends to the content they watch and the behaviours they encourage as well.

A lot of us grow out of this mindset once we understand how the game works for both sides/never took it that seriously to begin with.

    3) A criminal lack of empathy combined with the presence of anonymity. It's one thing to just go "it's a game lol" if someone insults how you played but it's an entirely different story when they go overboard with it. Trash talk's a common multiplayer thing and BHVR themselves don't really care about it either.

  • The game itself? 7/8 - It's gotten kinda stagnant for me even with new content but It's not the state of the game that's bugging me. I think DBD's only gotten better with time, it's still got a lot of elements that are left unaddressed, the lack of user options is only just now starting to be addressed but overall - I like current DBD.

However the state of BHVR itself is shocking.

They always do this, they make a lot of good progress and deliver some amazing content then someone likely on the corporate side piddles all over it with bad decision after bad decision and it makes the company look like every other big gaming company - ones that are out purely only to milk the consumer of as much money as possible while utilizing every scummy tactic in the book

FOMO practices, price hiking, limiting consumer choices

The other thing is that people just lie down and take it because it's 'normal' or the people who defend it for some reason.

"every company does this bro" - literally because people let them do it in the first place.

  • Blood Rush is a fun perk idea marred by heavy limitations

Needing to be on death hook is already a very steep cost; think about the implications of it for a moment and it makes sense why. As a survivor you want to avoid being hooked as much as possible, so having a perk that requires you to be on death hook is already knee-capped

But it also has the requirement of needing to be healthy, which means against a bunch of killers or fresh off the hook; the perk is also useless.

It's also only once per trial, which imo is the fairest of the 3 conditions

I get that the effect of resetting your exhaustion on the spot is super strong and does need some kind of condition or activation requirement but does it really need 3 highly specific ones stacked on top of each other?

  • Quick and Quiet has its cooldown removed (making it permanent) and it also permanently mutes survivor breathing/exertion grunts when performing actions such as vaulting

Some killers would grow to hate this perk if it was like this lmao

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3536666#Comment_3536666

I'm genuinely complaining that people are giving killers massively unrealistic expectations. BHVR want to nerf camping and nerf 3-gen, but give them zero help at finding survivors to chase? Distortion and Calm Spirit need to be deleted from the game, and all the screaming perks/powers/etc should work on survivors in lockers, so that killers can realistically find survivors with tracking perks.

If BHVR wants killers to leave a hooked survivor, or leave a 3 gen, then killers should get more reliable ways to find someone to chase, so that it's not as important to camp or hold a 3-gen.

but nobody runs calm spirit dude

  • Are you genuinely complaining that Calm Spirit actually does something

it doesn't tho. Using a template to display with their cosmetics is hardly an AI generating them LOL. It's a few sentences at best. I interpret is as them making the sections of a description more "standard" e.g. a title, a theme, a description. It's probably keeping all of the cosmetic text to a certain character limit in a centralised location for ease of development.

I never said it's an AI, OP did

It's not the biggest concern in the game but how hard can it be to write a paragraph for a mini story on a piece of clothing? They've done it plenty of times before so I don't know why they want to fix what isn't broken.

    Think about it

They said they are stepping up their cosmetic department to make more cosmetics (compounded by people complaining about some survs being neglected cosmetic wise) and so they decide to make the process easier - they make adding descriptions take less effort and manpower
