  • I'd like to think BHVR has moved on from nerfing perks purely because they are popular. But maybe I'm being too optimistic.

It's genuinely fine, though. I used it to learn how to loop better because it reduced the amount of mistakes I could make.

Also Mettle of Mither exists still, I think.

I think that it doesn't matter too much if it gets changed, but I wouldn't call the perk fine. You could keep it as a one hit down whilst giving it some other buff to make it more worth using. Giving it reduced scratch marks or something else could improve the perk, whilst keeping it's risk intact.

  • I've never really seen No Mither as a meme perk. Cage's perks are meme worthy. No Mither is just bad. There's no reason it should be completely off the table when considering improvements for perks.

An hypothesis. But yes, Iri Head is the one thing I wouldn't mind changing. I've used it only a few times over the last few years and it made me feel ashamed every single time.

Huntress seems to be loved by the people who play her and survivors too. I don't play Huntress but I enjoy playing against her. In some ways she feels too perfect for an overhaul.

I think the lobby dodging will fizzle out.

It will happen a lot at first until players realize

    • "Bad" / meme perks are more common than they thought and will just have to work with/around them
    • Cherry picking their teammates gets boring; eventually they'll have to settle

Players aren't going to start equipping "bad" perks now that the new system shows loadout. They have already been and actively are using them. Now, you get better forewarning and preparation. It's a plus.

That said, I do think that lobby dodging should have an accrued penalty system with slow decay, but it should be seconds into minutes into tens of minutes. Not like abandoning a match that goes from minutes to hours to days.

I think the positives might outweigh the negatives. Solo queue needs all the help it can get, so it would likely be a net positive, even if dodging increased.

Survivor you can spend 1/2 the game or more AFK on gens, can't really be hard camped anymore so you get off the hooks basically for free, will have the OTR/DS combo back in a month or two for multiple extra lives if you get tunneled, have a team to bail you out if you make mistakes, and also if your team loses you get a chance at a totally free escape because the game just gives them out to the last survivor sometimes

That's more stressful than all gameplay being chase interactions, having to outplay 4 different people, with no team to help you? lol

I'm a killer main and I think survivor is chill asf, and with sole survivor you don't even have to care if your team is getting stomped you can get your free door escape for extra MMRs

You should play some solo queue. There is nothing chill about trying to coordinate with your team when the game does everything it can to stop you from being able to do that, whilst also expecting you to work together to escape. Playing well, only for your teammates to screw everything up and get you killed repeatedly. You talk about how hard killer is, whilst completely ignoring and downplaying all the things that make playing survivor frustrating.

At least when I'm playing killer I don't have to worry about anyone sabotaging me. You'd be surprised how relaxing that is after playing in solo queue for long enough.

  • @HugTechLover said:

It would increase lobby dodging by other survivors. All self care gamers would be endlessly dodged. Meme build people would be dodged. You get the point.

It would be a nice touch, but I think the possible negatives would outweigh the positives.

They could test it like they did with hiding prestige. But I agree there is the potential for it causing more dodging.

  • It's memeing to do it in chase, so I let them do it and then continue.

Like three or so years back they did exactly that, and put in a slider that when maxed doubled the controller sensitivity. Dunno if that was the max that could be done.

Here's hoping they can stretch it out a bit further.

  • I don't want DS to get nerfed. But I kind of want it to happen seeing as everyone is assuming the update is gonna be a buff. Imagine if they nerfed it further instead of buffing it lmao

  • Maybe I've just been lucky, but this is the most dodgy PvP game I've ever played. Almost every play session you encounter some sort of jank.

I mean, I get it. The game was built on shaky foundations and they don't have the luxury of rebuilding it from scratch. It kind of reminds of Bethesda's Creation Engine. Instead of getting replaced it gets patched up constantly to extend it's lifespan.

  • I'm afraid I don't know the answer. But I hope the banners aren't locked behind the outfits. Those things are really expensive.

  • If the long awaited Twins rework is amazing, I will wait patiently for Freddy's. If the Twins rework ends up like Skull Merchant then I'm going to start drinking again.

    barney-gumble.gif

  • I think certain Hex's not lighting up until some condition has been met isn't a bad idea. They shouldn't get cleansed immediately because a survivor spawned near it.

Regarding Nurse, I agree. Yesterday, 1 survivor almost escaped through hatch and they did 1 entire gen with only 3 BNPs! This traumatised me. I will never be quite the same.

Anyone who can make me laugh that hard has my vote!

  • A friend of mine started playing for the first time about a week ago. I was not anticipating it going well but it's been really good. Other survivors have been helping protect the bubz and the killers have been very kind towards him. With the exception of Wraiths players. Every single one them has been awful. I died saving him from the last Wraith, only for the Wraith to just bleed him out on the floor. I had to explain to him that he just had to lie there and wait.

Unfortunately he bought Chucky and now I think he prefers playing killer. Two years have passed and I still can't get a SWF going lmao

Having a perk to counter flashlights and having a perk that completely shuts them down are 2 very different things.

I’m not saying lightborn should be removed. I’m saying it shouldn’t make a flashlight completely useless with no counter play.

Imagine if survivors had a perk that was just “Disables the killer’s add-ons in the next trial” nothing the killer can do to deactivate that perk, just no add-ons for you today.

It would be great if it didn't completely invalidate flashlights. But when I consider the kind of BS survivors squads can do with them, it feels like an acceptable sacrifice. If BHVR came up with fixes to limit a bully squads ability to grief killers, I would likely entertain changes to Lightborn.

With how far Gabriel is in the future, the human race is probably pretty mixed. and hes a clone or whatever, so he could just have genes of so many people

    So, he's a Jackapoo?

    images.jpeg

    I had suspected as much...

  • I wonder if BHVR could increase the sensitivity for console to even it out? I have no idea if that's possible as I'm not a scientist.

  • @Quizzy said:

I mean. We only have what. 2 black male survivors. Well, whatever gabriel is. He may be mixed with so many others. But Adam is pretty cool and have some cool cosmetics that I would definitely wear as a black man. But I do agree tho! That we need more black characters in dbd.

Mixed with so many others? Gabriel's not a dog 🤣

  • You are not wrong. Trying to keep this community happy must be insufferable. But after that crap they pulled with the player cards, my sympathy well has dried up for now.

  • I kind of wish BHVR would be more clear on what techs are bugs and what techs are just part of the killer's skill expression.

People are still debating Blight's hug-tech now. I'm sure BHVR has had enough time to decide if it should stay or not. Some communication from them would help quell some of the constant debate over these things.

  • Lightborn isn't really a problem. Plus it's a great perk for when killers encounter bully squads. As long as the squads are still around, the perk should stay as it is.

  • @Nos37 said:

Perks that gain tokens from the killers terror radius should gain progress while in the dying state and hooked state.

Since these perks are based off the killer's terror radius, they would only gain this extra benefit if the killer is slugging or camping.

This means it's not affecting normal play. Just scummy play.

Is this just to punish killers? As it doesn't sound like it would be that useful for survivors. If you really want to make them hurt, may I suggest some sort of shart mechanic? Now that would really make them suffer. The Crapper Trapper probably wouldn't care though.

To be fair you can't blame players for using the strongest tools the game gives them. If bad game design means that playing in a 'low skill' 'unfun' way is the most efficient, that's what players are going to do, and it isn't fair to shame them. Heck many players shockingly DIDN'T play in these ways but some of the fixes can still punish them unfairly in certain situations.

Yes, I think it's good that BHVR is actually doing something about these things that isn't just adding a bandaid perk and calling it a day, but I think the worry is that they may be overstepping the mark and 'fixing' things that don't need to be fixed.

It definitely happens on both sides. But if someone made a post complaining that locker save infinites got removed I'd also be like:

I merely feel sorry that the game seems so miserable for you right now. Games are supposed to be fun and when they aren't is a sad thing indeed.

Good on you for trying to be nice. I gave up after his 1000th thread about how BHVR only cares about survivors, and how killers are just playthings that are there to be abused for laughs. I've met people who have suffered horrifically in their lives, and even they don't come close to exhibiting the level of self-pity that dude expresses over a god damn computer game.

Really well said. Also, adrenaline requires a perk slot so it really isn't as free as people make it out to be. Really funny how Windows of Opportunity gets mentioned, yet again another scapegoat. What a shame they weren't running MfT as well! Oh wait...

Adrenaline is very strong. As it should be, seeing as it only activates once per match, and only if you survive to see the gates powered.

This entire situation only occured as a result of a 4% chance. 1/25 isn't bad considering in the other 24/25 times everyone would just die. Killers already have a bunch of things they don't have to look out for in end game, adding self-unhooks to that is just overkill.

  • @jmoyano92 said:

I played a game where I have 2 toxic SWF players on basement, 1 bot slugged near basement and the last player finishing last gen near the gate on hawkins (I was proxy-camping basement because last player was injured and I didn't want her to rescue the toxic premade)

Last gen is done I go to the gate and I find the injured player triying to hide, downed and hooked her then I go to basement to try to find the bot and meanwhile the premade does a 4%, both had adrenaline so they literally self-unhooked for free (1 of them at least) and both got instahealed from adrena... I hit one of them in the stairs, the other picks up the bot and the kate meanwhile does another 4% so I knew she would start opening the gate... this entire situation was so unfair that I thought they were cheating, for real.

I got lucky enough to get 2 kills but it's unfair and extremely annoying because that game was a 4k and I got insulted for no reason in post-game chat (the usual when u face dumb or toxic premades)

Everyone was on their first hook because 3 survis had windows of opportunity and I was playing a weak m1 killer, so my comeback literally started when I had only 1 gen left.

*I personally prefer base BT & base SB removed during endgames (they give survivors literally free escapes)

*The 4% mechanic should be removed from the game if you play against premades OR you did really bad as killer overall. Sometimes you don't get a single hook in the entire match until the end (when all gens are done) and when this happens the player can literally self-unhook himself and escape through the nearest gate with no help. That's super unfair.

This is one of the many reasons people think dbd is a survivor sided game, which it is imo.

You describe 4% being a free escape. But what happens if you remove that? Oh yeah, it becomes a free kill. If survivors aren't allowed the ability to escape in end game, I have to ask, why should you get a free kill on someone you've only hooked once? It's unfair that survivors get a free escape, but you want a free kill just because we have collectively decided (for some reason) that killers should get some freebies when survivors do what they are meant to do and power the gates. Why is AFC disabled in end game? No reason other than to be nice to the killer and let them get a kill uncontested.

I've seen so many killer players on this forum push back against the idea of rubberbanding mechanics in this game. I can't wait to see how many approve of removing self-unhooking when the killer plays badly.

  • 3% for a perk that only activates when all the gens are powered? Meh.

  • I appreciate that you guys had a go at making him less frustrating to play against, but the experience is still very much the same. If he finds you in an area without tall cover, you're going down. The lack of counterplay that made him obnoxious to play against is still there.

I don't think he should be able to stack haste with the use of an add-on. Even if it's an iri. He's now 115 with the added bonus of being able to down survivors from range and over loops (many of which have zero counterplay for the survivor). Building more haste on top of that is overkill.

Player Cards added in the future that are based on ownership of characters, outfits, or progression achieved will be retroactively awarded to anyone who has already met that criteria. <3

All releases in 2024 and onward will include many more Player Cards that players can earn for free from a variety of new in-game and out-of-game methods, such as rewards from The Archives, giveaways on socials, Twitch Drops, and in-game Archives rewards.

This is not good. Hyping up the release, only to let us know after, that there's no content to be had until next year, unless we buy Chucky. BHVR had this info for months at least. Why did you guys refuse to tell us until after the feature had launched?

  • You know, if killers didn't camp the hook, there'd be no AFC or basekit endurance after getting unhooked.

If they didn't tunnel there'd be no anti-tunneling perks.

If they didn't rely on stalling the match out by kicking gens and refusing to chase anyone, regression perks would not have gotten nerfed.

At some point people need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming everyone else. If you keep taking a dump on the floor, don't get upset when BHVR comes in to clean up.

Nerfing something that requires high skill? That would be an insult to the efforts provided by the few players who painfully learned it. (DBD_Things was the first one I believe)

It's just a theory. We don't have any idea what they are doing with her, so maybe orbital strike will stay intact. Other than Iri Head, I don't know what they might want to change.

Obsession should be on the least hooked survivor. If a Dwight just got down and hooked, Meg become obsession and then hooked, then Dwight become obsession again is not right.

Some killers down Dwight, then Meg, then Dwight, then Meg, then last hook Dwight while not chasing Clau & Jake. Is quite effective (not as effective as hard tunneling), if the perk just luckily put obsession on Dwight every time a teammate got hook. Its not fair for him.

It would be nice if it didn't switch the obsession to a survivor who has just been exposed, downed and rescued from the hook.

  • @appleas said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3597160#Comment_3597160

Yup. The concept of Friends is to encourage the Killer to keep chasing and hooking the Obsession. The exposed and aura reveal when a non Obsession is hooked is to incentivize this. If you got exposed 6 times in one match, it means:

    1) The Killer was given multiple chances to catch you but chose not to or failed.

    2) If your teammates were constantly going down and getting hooked while you were the Obsession, chances are that they would go down much faster if they were the Obsession and got affected by Exposed and Aura reveal.

Be it failing to catch you or you keeping the Obsession status, you are buying time for your team. It’s no different from the better looper distracting the Killer while the rest crank the gens. I think you did quite well regardless of the match outcome lol

I appreciate the sentiment considering how badly my matches went tonight lmao

  • @appleas said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3597143#Comment_3597143

The Obsession was switching between Survivors, it’s just that you proved difficult to catch so you remained as the Obsession.

The general use of this perk is to have a snowball effect especially when paired with Furtive Chase/Nemesis. The counter to this perk is for the Obsession to not get hooked constantly which you managed to achieve by escaping him twice.

I would say you managed to counter his build to some extent by not going down immediately and stalling out the Obsession change. You not being hooked constantly was the reason why the Obsession wasn’t constantly switching as well lol.

So I got screwed over because of my pro gamer extreme skills? That makes me feel slightly better lmao

I had NO gen perks, save for pentimento with one stack that I activated after they gave up. They could have, and would have gen rushed me into oblivion. If they didn't have an agenda. They threw. And this is like the third time tonight.

Players AFK when they get frustrated. Survivors haven't learned the matchup yet. This happens every time a new killer gets released. I'm not sure that it's some sinister plan to get Chucky nerfed.

  • @appleas said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3597104#Comment_3597104

The Obsession changes when the Killer hooks the Obsession. If the Killer hooks a non Obsession, the Expose and aura reveal on the Obsession happens.

If you wanted to not be the Obsession, you could take chase and get hooked to lose the Obsession status. So either the Killer deliberately chose not to go for the Obsession, or the Killer found someone else before they found you and chased them instead. Either way you didn’t get chased much let alone go down due to the Exposed status effect.

I outran and hid from him the first two times I got exposed. The third time I went down, got hooked and the obsession changed. I got rescued and healed only for Chucky to get another hook and I became the obsession again and he exposed me. I just wish the obsession would swap between survivors instead of just afflicting the same survivor constantly.

Fair point, but again, not sure how they could make it any worse/different. It's downside is already a pretty big one, imo. Maybe rework it to be something else, but I doubt a nerf.

I did have a brief conversation with Reinami(?) who thinks it might be related to the orbital strike tech. If that's the case I'd hope BHVR would simply make changes to limit it's use, rather than change Huntress. I did enjoy watching OhTofu going for orbital strikes though.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you nerf it. Iri Head and Pinkie Finger have both been nerfed previously, and it didn't stop hook camping. So they will probably rework it into something else if they make changes to it. I'm still hoping Clown gets an add-on that spawns fake chests that release Clown gas. That would be amazing.

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

I've seen so much stuff on here about how toxic survivors act and how hard it is to play killer etc.

Now the killer side gets a really strong killer with chucky and out of 10 matches against him so far I had:

    • 9 4ks
    • 5 chuckys spamming EZ without anyone else even saying something after the match in endgame chat
    • 4 chuckys just letting the entire team bleed out
    • 9 matches 5 gen tunneling one guy out
    • 4 matches proxy camping the first surv on hook
    • 3 guys telling my team how bad we are and to unalive ourselves (not swf but solo queue)
    • 5 chuckys just running around the last survivor on the ground refusing to hook him

Why can apparently nothing good or strong happen in this game without people immidiately abusing it for toxic puposes be it killer or survivors.

Yup, some killer players can be extremely nasty when they feel like it. I think a lot of them are children. That's why they tend to just project their feelings onto everyone else. They accuse survivors of being toxic, when they are out there being as anti-social as they can be. When you critique their behaviour they just call you a survivor main, or blame it on survivors in general, and refuse to engage with any criticism.

Fortunately most killer players are not like that at all. Don't let the worst ones make you think that they are a majority, they are not. They are just very loud and very obnoxious.

It should work against the scream. But I am not sure if it is good that people have to run both Perks (Distortion and Calm Spirit), because only one of them might just be the wrong one in many games...

I just wish it would inflict itself on someone else. Getting exposed every time someone gets hooked is frustrating. The obsession should at least change so it doesn't hit the same survivor constantly until they are dead or the match is over. It's like Rancor but it lasts through the match.

Even if you were a god Huntress, wouldn't it be way better to have all your hatchets?

When I saw Clown and Huntress I assumed they were going after the insta-down add-ons. Seeing as they are used to hook camp.

  • @appleas said:

It only exposes the Obsession for 20s if the Killer hooks a non Obsession. That means the Killer was chasing and hooking someone else multiple times if you got exposed 6 times, how is that tunneling?

Why does it only expose one survivor? There's three other players, yet it's designed to only expose one player?

  • Is the perk meant to expose only one survivor for the entire match? Everytime Chucky hooked someone I was exposed. It happened four times and it exposed nobody else. Please tell me it's a bug and BHVR didn't build a perk specifically to help killers tunnel.

  • @UnknownKiller said:

No gonna lie i feel people who dont like to play agaisnt that killer wont like to play vs him never despite the changes would be the fairest ones

That's probably true. A killer that relies on spamming projectiles is unlikely to ever be popular.

  • The Trickster rework was meant to make him stronger and less frustrating to play against. They achieved the first part and then completely screwed up the second part.

Imagine if he went to live servers with all the buffs intact. His playrate would skyrocket and we'd be stuck with one of the most obnoxious killers being played constantly.

Wesker might be everywhere, but at least he requires some skill to use and is actually enjoyable to play against.

  • I don't use the perk, so I'm not that well versed in the fine details, but I've heard people complain about how good it can be for tunneling/camping. Maybe that's the issue.

  • I don't know why nearby slugged survivors disable AFC. You can just slug someone who attempts a rescue and then just stand there as the person on hook dies and the slugged survivor bleeds out.

I was being face camped by a Wraith (shocking), a teammate tried to save me, got slugged. The killler continues to camp me, but because someone is slugged the AFC completely stops working. If you want to give the killer a grace period to pick the guy up and go hook him, then fine. But straight up disabling AFC in that scenario sucks.

‹ 1 2 3 … 18
