4 players out of 5 are Survivors. That's 80% of Dead by Daylight Players. That's why all changes in the meta are almost always in favor of making the game easier for them. It's 80% of people who buy DLCs, etc.
It is a competitive game. If with everything in our favor, we survivors are not able to know how to act if they tunnel you, it means that you are bad.
Compare it to Texas Chainsaw. 1 or 2 Hits and dead, but very exciting and fun! Here, each assassin must hit you with a chainsaw 2/3 times, pick you up, take you to a 40cm hook, hit you again 2/3 times, pick you up, take you to a hook again... hit you again 2/3 times, and kill you.
And all that, for each of the 4 survivors! If you cry because they are tunneling you, you are a very bad player.
Make your build capable of holding up, and challenge the assassin to make that your role.
Why are you comparing the two games? They are nothing alike. TCM is a game where you can play solo and escape without any help from your teammates. DbD is a team game for survivors. If someone dies early on, the match is basically over for the remaining survivors.
Getting rid of a survivor in TCM doesn't cripple everyone else, but it does in this game.
Have you played both games?

it's not when you see every match Chucky tunnels first person, has Pain with Pop and plays like it's some turnament esport for 5000€ or something. It's shame since he and Tifanny are so cool yet you see your teammates getting deleted in 5 min of the match and then just 3-gen until you give up. Fuuuuuun...
That just tells you that any Killer can be fun to play againts, even these with more easy / boring powers... just depends on the player.
That's always been the case, especially for solo queue players. The tone of the match is generally set by the killer. If they decide to tunnel or camp people out of the match early on, it's not going to be fun for the survivors. It just becomes stressful and nothing else.

Are we congratulating BHVR for not gouging it's customers?
I'm impressed when developers are pro consumer. I'm not impressed when developers are only pro consumer due to receiving negative feedback for their previous gouging attempts. Demonstrating respect for your customers should be the standard.

Yeah, I'm a solo main player and I agree. I feel like for a supposed "team game" I see very little efficient team work unless I'm playing with a 3man. It's a team when you're in a swf but alot of times in solo it comes down to every man for himself. Alot of the time the game feels like a 1v1v1v1v1. But I'm not sure what BHVR can do about it at this point, as going the TCM route would be too complicated at this point in the game. And VC isn't gonna work with this community. Heck apparently it's barely used in TCM.
I don't think they can fix a lot of what's wrong with the game. This game is like a massive bundle of tangled wires. Every fix takes ages and doesn't even work most of the time.

My guess is they make her 115 but make it so you have to land 3 hatchets to down now. Because of the new "orbital strike" strat that is going around with her making it so she can insta down people once you practice enough.
Can't anything skillful making more killers viable now.
But Huntress is fine. She's good at what she does and she has plenty of room for skill expression and counterplay. She might be somewhat basic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
-
What are the odds it's just a nerf to Iri Head for Huntress?

just checked what cards you get from chucky... Empty void doesn't look so bad now.
Maybe they will release something in the future for the rest of us peasants.
It is funny that Cote just gave an interview where he implied that BHVR is consumer friendly, cos their FOMO isn't that bad, due to things you miss being available a year later. Then they immediately do this. I genuinely don't know why this surprised me at all.

What's the point of this feature, when there are no default options to use?
Currently there is just a big empty border that is really annoying me...
If you buy Chucky you will have something to customize. They just forgot to mention that you have to spend money to do it.
-
BHVR keeps jumping into our conversations on here to clarify things. But apparently this isn't important, as they've not bothered to interject in any of the threads. Why are you guys silent? Just tell us that this is a massive misunderstanding. It's not that hard.

Well, everyone can agree that the tunnel is getting worse with every nerf to gen regression... so we already know what the consequence will be if you can't hold a 3-gen or if healing doesn't consume enough time.
I'll take being tunneled out over spending 30+ minutes in a match because the killer has a magnet in their boot which pulls them away from survivors and over to the nearest generator.
-
So they went on about how great this feature would be for players, but forgot to mention that the only content available is locked behind a paywall? I'm sure that was an accident.
-
I'm actively trying to find info on how to obtain customisation options for my banner, and yet I can find nothing to explain it. Where are you people getting info from?

This all of this. It is a team game most don't play that way. But there are killers that don't play very well either. They will tunnel you out hardcore or just be terrible at it. Both sides are bad but entitled. They both feel as of they need to win. I don't mind losing if I get outplayed but if it's by cheesy tactics then I feel the players have no skill.
Is this a team game? Not being able to communicate with your teammates or even see what kind of loadouts your teammates are running seems to indicate otherwise. The way the game is built is designed to make cooperation as difficult as possible. BHVR should just go the TCM route if they want to keep discouraging teamwork between survivors, and make it so every survivor can escape, without having to reply on their teammates.
-
Launching player cards with nothing included? Really? BHVR could have added some basic content.
*Launches game
Devs: Player Cards are here. Go and customise.
*Clicks on profile to discover a vast expanse of nothingness.
Is there even an explanation for how to acquire stuff? I see nothing in game to explain it.
-
So the Twins are finally getting their update? I'm pretty curious to see what BHVR has done with them, seeing as it's taken so long. Hopefully it's substantial.
Freddy is nowhere to be seen. Disappointing but predictable.
Sadako getting another rework is interesting. Hopefully she ends up with some sort of skill expression instead of just spamming teleport constantly.
UW never really bothered me, but I'm eager to see what they do with DS.
I assumed BHVR would rework gen spawns to deal with 3 gens, but it doesn't sound like that's what they are doing. I'm not sure why they want to preserve 3 genning at all. It's no different than playing against SM. Long matches that bore everyone to death.

Practically no one willingly plays Nurse or current Trickster with a controller. Precious few will run Blight or Singularity for many matches either. Those that do and are effective have put in the hours to do so.
With time however most of the killers are doable, just takes longer to master and many advanced skills are unobtainable. Strafing is harder and flicks unheard of, things like that.
We can't know anything for sure along these lines. As a basic rule though the vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles, but most of the killers are on PC. This is likely due to the controller, framerates, and typically the more casual mindset of consolers in general.
👉️🐽
I do like playing Nurse on console though.
-
It's on BHVR to fix this. They created a game where the most effective strategy is for the killer to find the weakest player and harrass them till they are dead and can no longer contribute to the match. Will they fix it? No. They can't even release a patch without breaking half the game. How could they possibly fix something as complex as this?
-
Nah, I'm good. You splash around in the dirt, I'll be out here memeing and making friends.
-
What would us getting that data achieve?
Console players only play a few killers? Are you sure about that. I don't even know how you figured that out.
-
This is your first post?
Also, yeah, if you play survivor most of the time, then you're gonna find killer more stressful as you're gonna suck harder at it.
-
It is somewhat annoying that you need headphones to enact any counterplay to her power. But I don't want footsteps, as that makes it a bit too easy. I'd be down for something more subtle though. Like environmental disturbances.
-
So what if we determine that using the visual HB with no visual impairments is cheating. How do we determine who needs it? We can't. We have no idea how other people experience the world, and frankly, it's none of our business. So why even spend time thinking about it. Just be happy that it's there for the people who need it.
-
@Caiman said:
It's not cheating, but it is definitely an advantage. There is a reason every content creator uses it.
I think they often do that so hard of hearing viewers can experience the game streams in the same way everyone else does.

The devs said they are working on a fix. So all you can do is wait.

I'm fine with the drop vaults that can be circumvented by breaking the pallet, but the infinites obviously needed to go.

Window techs is where survivors can pass through killers during the killer vault animation. Typically they will run one direction where the killer can see, then turn around and pass through the killer in the OTHER direction. Kinda surprised a hitbox exploit has lasted this long tbh.
Window techs are funny. I'm glad it's still here. It's the best thing you can do with a key.

So I know this sounds bad but hear me out I'm not sure where I stand yet but I saw a post about someone saying that tunelling makes them enjoy the game more. Tunelling for me anyways sucks all the fun and joy out of the game for survivor. As killer I find it extremely boring. Camping as well which isn't as bad anymore. Interested to hear others opinions.
It's a balance. You weigh your enjoyment against the feelings of another person and see which comes out on top. If I'm not going to get much enjoyment from something and it will really upset someone else, then I probably wouldn't do it.
There are limitations to this kind of thinking though. I won't give people free wins if that is the only thing they care about. But for example, killers hate flashlights, so I don't bring them with me into the trial. I'm not giving up much in exchange for the killer not getting triggered. So it feels like a reasonable trade to me. It's the same reason I don't tunnel as killer. Winning isn't important enough for me to disregard a survivors feelings about being tunneled, so I don't do it.
-
I don't know if it's the MMR change, but my solo queue matches have been pretty good since I started playing again. There are games that have completely borked matchmaking, but it's not the majority. That's something I haven't been able to say for months.

No they don't? Name another killer that can drag a long range ability or any ability for that matter? All m1 killers either hit or miss and all range killers hit or miss. The only 2 with the "drag" effect is xeno and nemesis.
Unless killer attacks are only active for one frame, they can be dragged. You can use an M1 and turn immediately to spread the hitbox. Frame data isn't easily accessible for this game, but I don't think killers would be able to land hits consistently if they only had one active frame.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But killer attacks definitely don't feel like they only have a single active frame.
-
But, that's just how killer attacks work in this game. If you think it's an issue, fair enough. But it's not a Xeno problem.
-
If a killer has ranged ability that has zero counterplay to it, there will be nerfs. Getting upset about that is pointless, as that's just how the game is balanced.
Xeno had a ranged attack that didn't cause them to lose distance when making a mistake. All other killers have to deal with losing distance when they use a ranged attack. It was obviously going to get changed.
Chucky's scramble made basically every pallet loop unsafe and gave survivors almost no counterplay. It was going to get nerfed.
Slice n Dice didn't have much slowdown on whiff. Why BHVR tried this again after all the crap that was caused when Alien went live like that, I have no idea. It was going to get changed.
Deathslinger is the same with his ADS speed. Although he was released before I started playing, so I know less about his situation.
Wesker is still fine because, whilst he is very strong, survivors have counterplay in most situations. It's hard to avoid his rushes but it can be done. Scramble just invalidated loops with no counterplay and Xeno and Slice n Dice allowed you to play poorly and still gets hits, unlike every other killer in the game.

I rarely ever encountered a face camping Booba. Almost every one that I've met has been an Honorable Booba (allergic to hooked survivors). Fortunately we still have Chest Camping Booba and Real Estate Booba left.

I had games like that against Legion but I suspect the players didn’t want to face Legion and were trolling to get out of the match. Sure it wasn’t that?
I can't say for certain, but they came across like a traditional baby Bill. Super altruistic, but terrified and somewhat useless lmao
-
99ing the gates is the only way for solo queue survivors to save a hooked survivor in end game. Remove that and a killer can pretty much guarantee a kill on a survivor that they've only hooked once so far. I don't buy into the idea that killers should have a way to guarantee a kill on a hooked survivor if there are multiple survivors left in the trial.
It feels like a consolation prize for losing the match.

People use this perk for 3 reasons
- learning maps
- finding out about pallet locations and used recourses in soloq
- automation of the chase (run to yellow + pre drop + run to yellow + vault window +...)
That's why you see even experienced survivors run this perk.

I'm not taking any position on this yet, but have two questions for the community:
Do you consider survivors who use the visual heartbeat feature to be 'cheating' if they're not deaf?
Shouldn't killers get a similar visual to indicate when they are approaching an in-progress generator?
Please discuss.
I'm not going to debate who should be using an accessibility feature. Like, is it okay to use it if you're not completely deaf? These conversations are not productive. I'm glad hard of hearing people have the heartbeat indicator. Other than that I do not care.
Yes, killers should also get an accessibility option for hard of hearing players. I don't care who uses it.

I have roughly 700 hours now, and solo queue matchmaking just gave me two baby Bills who didn't know what mending was, against a Legion. It was the most absurd match I've ever played. Every minute or so, they'd drop like a sack of crap.

we gotta be precautious here, everyone told mft was going to be an issue yet it went live untouched and was kept that way for 5 MONTHS.
Being precautious? Yup. Makes sense.
Creating a thread to get annoyed at broken survivors perks that don't exist yet? Nope.
-
The amount of times a killer hard tunnels some new player out of the match at five gens is ridiculous. The killer won't even hook me after I get downed body blocking for them. This was like 1:30 into the match. This was some dude running a full meta build, with all the DLC trimmings against some poor baby Meg with two green perks.
BHVR, if you want this game to be a disgusting sweatfest, then add comms and enforce strict matchmaking so new players aren't fed to killer players who will tunnel them out in less than two minutes. If you don't want that, then maybe reconsider encouraging killers to harrass one survivor till they are dead, instead of spreading their attention around.
Before anyone fills their diaper, no I'm not telling BHVR to gut killer, I'm telling them to rebalance the game. Make targetting one survivor less effective at securing a victory and make spreading hooks substantially more effective.

Serious question: Does Whiskers need the hindered effect? His power seems to be really strong, even without hindered to slow survivors down.
I'm not saying he doesn't need it, I'm just curious to hear what people who actually play him think. I've never touched the dude.
-
It doesn't increase healing speed, gen repair speed, sabo speed, it doesn't grant haste, doesn't provide an additional health state, doesn't blind or stun the killer. It's the least controversial perk in the game that's actually worth running.
-
I just bought the Wild Violet top for Claudette, and I had to spend more iri sharts to get the one with the black jacket. Why am I paying more for black? The red and blue versions are cheaper for some reason. BHVR is lucky I care about colour coordination.

Considering his smaller size makes him harder to see and the footsteps are not enough to counteract that he is still way better off than your basic 115% m/s killer. Just look at the showcase Otzdarva and Hens did with Cucky against a comp team, he did fairly well, despite only being 110% m/s.
Also seeing the footsteps is not equal to seeing him... It can still throw you off.
Good old Cucky 🤣
-
I'm so desperate for the snowmen to return. They're my favourite event mechanic.
-
Doesn't his small hitbox mean that he can loop more efficiently than other killers? It that's the case, it might offset him not being 4.6, at least when it comes to looping.

As my go-to rule if I see a Survivor has an event item I automatically always let them escape. I would hate for them to lose the item.
Other times when a Survivor makes a blatant mistake I will sometimes give them a small head-start or even just let them escape too.
When do you (if ever) allow Survivors to escape?
Memers get the VIP treatment. If I turn around and find someone's giving my Nurse a spanking, I'll walk them to the gates myself.

Killers already stomp solo queue and low MMR. Find ways to nerf high MMR survivors without kicking everyone else in the teeth at the same time.

For me personally, I don't like using WoO because it's a crutch imo. I don't use WoO to "not learn maps", I don't use it so I learn to think on my feet on how I can connect loops and pallets.
In some matches I literally find a gen, run around for 15 seconds looking at the tiles, and when I'm on the gen I think of escape plans.
Whilst it's great for you to take a sense of pride and accomplishment in your gaming skills, most players are not putting in the time needed to learn because they don't want to spend hundred's of hours playing one game. Most games have decent learning tools or are simple to get into. Dead by Daylight is neither of those things. Seeing as neither of those problems are likely to ever get addressed, having a perk like WoO would be be great for many new players.
-
I think tunneling is one of the reasons why balancing killer is challenging. If a killer has enough strength to balance out four survivors, what happens when a killer decides to concentrate all of that strength on one survivor? If killers were stronger overall it might reduce tunneling, but it would never go away, as it's the most effective way to win. Killers that tunneled for the sake of ease would just take those buffs and keep tunneling anyway.
Too much stuff needs to be changed to deal with tunneling fairly for both survivors and killers. The only thing you can hope for is more anti-tunnel perks. DS has been trash for a long time and nothing indicates that BHVR is planning on improving it any time soon.
