  • With Survivor, the grind is a pain. Less BPs, harder to get Bonus BPs, more stuff in the Bloodweb (aka less BP-Offerings), more Perks to get.

I almost have every Survivor on P3-50 with all Perks, Zarina and Cheryl are missing (and Felix, once released).

Regarding Killers, I started a lot later to prestige them, except for Pyramid Head and Oni, I have every Killer on P3 at least.

So with Killer, the grind is way easier IMO, at least I am grinding a lot faster (still long, of course).

I 100% agree with you, but DBD will not run playably at its stated minimum requirements. I have a GTX 1060 6GB and on 1080p low my GPU is at like 55% usage while sitting on the main menu. In game it's higher. The minimum GPU for this game is a GTX 460 and the recommended GPU for this game is a GTX 760. There is not a prayer that a GTX 460 could maintain 60 FPS in this game. The GTX 760 probably couldn't either without reducing resolution.

I agree the devs can't be held responsible for making this game run on an entry-level GPU from 7 years ago, but they do have a responsibility to make the game run on a PC with their specified minimum specs and to run well on a PC with their specified recommended specs.

    Yes, 100% agree with you.

Don’t get me wrong I understand because of its style it’s just as bad as Thanataphobia I’m just more curious to why 4% before and now was too much for killer but now it seems 14% is fine if it’s on survivor ( not saying the whole game is focused to one side just some changes and new things)

As others have said, Thana also affects Gen Speeds. Considering that there are already some good Slowdown Perks around, maybe the Devs dont want to buff another Slowdown Perk (which is already used anyway). And during the time it was tested with 6% (I think it was 6%), Old Legion was a thing and having a Killer where you do not want to heal against AND 24% Slowdown is a little bit too much I guess. And why it did not get changed after Legion got changed... Well, I would guess my first reason, but I dont know for sure.

I plan to use this perk to make saves, because it does unhooking speed as well i believe?

If so then with resilience i can 100% take a hit make the unhook and then DH out of the way with plenty of time to spare.

Personally, I am not a big fan of plays like that. Sure, I also got Unhooks like this when the Killer is camping, but using it for plays like that... Not a fan. And when it comes to Unhooks in general, I would prefer We Will Make It anyway.

  • "So why is this survivor perk allowed?"

    Because its bad?

You can either have 56% if all 4 Survivors are injured/dying/hooked or a 33% Increase by Botany Knowledge, which you will have all the time. Nobody will run this Perk.

I agree, HOWEVER, without getting too far into balance I think the devs have tried to cater to “casual players,” as much as possible. Now casual doesn’t necessarily mean old or slow computer, but often that goes hand in hand. They may lose more players than they expect because of this

This might be possible. The way I see it - DBD has minimum requirements. If those are met, the game should run at a decent performance. If not, the Devs need to work on it (e.g. I have quite a good PC and get FPS Drops on Yamaoka when a Gen gets completed from time to time and sometimes on Breakable Walls on Badham). Same goes for Console, as I have written before.

But if a PC does not hit the minimum requirements, there is not really anything the Devs can do. They are called minimum requirements for a reason.

Have you guys played it on PTB? Because I haven’t but I watched Oftofu and Tru both play and when they broke breakable walls you could SEE a clear slowdown. Are you telling me professional streamers need to get a better PC? And that anyone who wants to play the game for fun should invest the same amount as someone who plays for a living?

This is optimization. But optimization does not mean that Hardware which is old and weak can or should run every game.

  • So, because its easy to reach Rank 1, you want a reward which a lot of people get? Why even make a reward when it is not special at all?

  • @SilentSpectre said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1552189#Comment_1552189

Considering the fact they have adamantly refused to add colorblind options to this game for over four years and have failed to optimize the game on consoles that have exactly the same specs in each box...

    Yes.

Console is a different thing. If a game is advertised to run on a Console, it should run on it with good performance. Thats the Devs responsibility.

But PCs can be upgraded. If someone does not want to upgrade or cannot afford it, there will be some point in time where they cannot run the game they used to play. So a PC User should not expect that Devs provide a game which can be run on 7 year old Hardware IMO.

  • The Badham Walls are a good example of Breakable Walls in my opinion.

Saloon Breakables were Nonsense at the start, since it was always better to break the Wall and for some Loops (the Saloon) it was mandatory. Even know you have to break the Saloon Walls basically at the start (except for the Trap-Room), which is kinda annoying.

Midwich was better when it came to breakable Walls, because you can break them "on the go", but you will most likely want to break every Wall, since they make strong Loops weaker.

However, Badham has a really good implementation of Breakable Walls. For the School or the House of Pain (which lost one Pallet btw), in my opinion, those Walls are great. You can break them to get to a Hook faster or to get into a Chase with a Survivor if you know they are on the other side of the Wall, however, you will open a strong Loop when doing so. So its not mindless "just break every Wall for a easier game", you have to consider pros and cons of breaking the Walls. Which is a really good thing in my opinion.

  • Dont want to be that guy, but your Laptop is 7 years old. At some point in time, Hardware which is that old will not be able to run every game it used to.

  • So, you want to keep an imbalanced Offering which makes the game very easy for you, because Survivors DCed which made the game very easy for you?

Let alone that Ebony Moris are the most common Moris.

  • Not possible with MMR. It will be re-implemented at some point and then you would have a locked Killer again anyway.

  • The people who did the graphics will not have anything to do with the Balance of the game.

Graphic Updates are cool. And even if they would not have brought a graphic Update, the content of the PTB would have been the same.

  • I did not expect anything and got disappointed. The Killer Perks are better, but Devs seem to be afraid to bring out new Survivor Perks.

So its the usual for me - bringing a new Survivor to P3-50, then doing a bunch of Bloodwebs to get 3 Perks I never use on all Survivors. Yay.

  • I think they are quite useless and will not be used.

The Offerings for Hatch and Basement would only really make sense to use when they are secret. I doubt they are Secret, because they are only Common. But if they are, they would be quite nice.

The Anti-Map Offering is...eh. You can still end up on a Map you dont want, just randomly. So why not burn a Map Offering (like Azarovs) on your own?

  • Well, IMO there are 5 useless Offerings coming with the Patch. Not so bad for Killer, but more rubbish for Survivor Bloodwebs.

The Hatch and Basement Offerings only really make sense when they are Secret IMO.

And the Anti-Map Offering, since it is rare, it will be hard to get in the Bloodweb. And there is always the chance of burning a Map on your own. e.g. when the Survivors burn Coldwind, I can still burn Azarov to get on a good Map. But if I cancel the Coldwind-Offering, I might still end up on Coldwind, if I understand it correctly.

  • Sorry that Survivors want BPs too. And sorry that Survivors want other Survivors to get out as well.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Just give more points (pip- and bloodpoint-wise) for a 3k and less killers will slug for the 4k.

There are some who just want the 4k, yes, but the majority cares more about the points and finds slugging boring, too.

A 3K with Hatch Escape should give the same points like a 4K. Simple and would solve 99% of "slugging for the 4K".

    @Topic:

"Why do so many slugged survivors in that situation stay in exactly the same spot? "

The game is usually over once only 2 Survivors are alive. Depending how the game goes, its over when 1 Survivor is dead (depending how early this is happening, this is why Moris are insanely OP) because of the Snowballing which can happen in DBD.

But with 2 Survivors, it is almost impossible to get all Gens done, as long as the last Gen is not almost finished. So it does not really matter if I get picked up again or not. And, while I indeed recover if the other Survivor wants to get me, I prefer to be found if the game is over. I dont really like to crawl away so that the Killer cannot find me and I will bleed out for a few minutes, I rather get hooked and go to the next game.

  • They might have DCed because you were playing Spirit. And I cannot really blame them, boring game to see Spirit standing half of the time without any way to know what she is doing. But yeah "Mindgames".

Anyway, I totally agree, if one player DCs from a Match, nobody should depip. Killers should not depip from that and Survivors should not depip because its a 3v1.

I think this would make dealing with DCs more bearable.

  • I mean, all of this was the case before he was buffed and he was considered one of the weakest Killers in the game.

  • @SandyRobes said:

I love all the killer mains getting so salty at the thought of these perks being used. The second chance perks exist, get over it. My problem is the game not allowing us to use it in a perfectly valid situation where escape is definitely possible. If I want to run Deliverance + DS + Unbreakable + Soul Guard and somehow happen to survive longer than everyone else without being hooked, why shouldn't I be able to have that one last shot? If I've managed to make it to that point then exactly 0 of my second chances have been used, and I deserve to use them. If the thought of that bothers you as a killer then it's because you know it could work.

You will get a lot of Hate for second chance Perks, even tho Killer playstyles make them worth running in the first place.

However regarding your scenario - its really niche. In most of the cases (I would guess 99%), the Survivor maybe gets a Kobe, which results in him getting downed by the Killer, waiting out the DS for 1 minute. Waste of time for everyone without a different output.

And in my opinion, if someone was not hooked before, they can play more aggressive if their teammates are on Death Hook. This would also remove the "I have Deliverance active but am the last person alive"-issue.

Coming from a fighting game community. This game is nowhere near competitively viable. There need to be a ton of features added to get it close. For example a map editor would be nice to make maps reliable for comp. play would be the bare minimum required for this game to have any competitive base.

Yeah, and DBD is not a competitive game. Comparing it to Fighting games is simply wrong.

Because DbD was not BUILT for voice comms. It didn't even have a grouping system. That was added after, when players complained.

DbD was created on the formula of limited communication. You gather info, and try and apply that to your match, while working with what your team provides. Why do you think SWF is so unbalanced? Because the game isn't meant for free communication.

IF they give comms, an overhaul would be required. Terror radius would be redundant. Many perks would need replacing. Killer powers, such as Trapper, would need serious augments. Even loops would need to be rethought.

I'm not saying I'm against comms being introduced. It sure would make my survivor matches easier. I'm saying that the amount of work needed to rebalance the game would be astronomical. Not impossible, but a lot more than the devs are willing to put in. Maybe if they make a DbD 2. . .

Again, look at how long it took for them to fix god loops, at least the big ones. And certain maps. Years. If they added comms, can you expect any form of expediency in balancing it? When, at minimum, it takes them two months to implement small changes?

I am for OPs suggestion at an emote wheel, however. That would be nice.

"Because DbD was not BUILT for voice comms. It didn't even have a grouping system. That was added after, when players complained."

Can we for once stop with this? Devs have said that SWF was planned from the beginning but they only had time to either implement SWF or KYF from the start, and they went for KYF.

Even thinking about Developers creating a Multiplayer Game where you cannot play with friends is...eh. SWF was always planned. The non-existence of SWF in the first version does not mean the opposite.

    @Topic:

Multiple things against built-in voice communication:

Languages-->Not everyone speaks the same Language. It MIGHT work for the US, because there should be only one language, but not for Europe, we have quite a bunch of Countries and not everyone speaks English well. It is quite common to see Russian Language in the EU Chat for example.

Existing Voice Comms-->If someone is SWF, they will already use Discord. And they wont switch to DBD Voice Comms. If they are a 3 man SWF, they might not want to talk to the Solo. But the Solo is now without communication in a game balanced around communication. (of course the same applys to Language - why should the 3 Italian players talk English with the Russian player?)

Solo Experience-->Not everyone wants to play with friends or talk while playing. There are players who want an immersive experience. Forcing Voice Comms on them either means they are not able to do it, or, once again, are without communication in a game balanced around communication.

And well, Devs also stated that they are not planning to add Voice Comms.

You would rather get the same or a similar effect with stuff like Indicators in the UI (Indicators for doing Gens, being chased and so on) or a Totem Counter. But since Devs are against making Kindred Baseline as an example, I doubt that they want that.

  • The purple Add On which is in the Bloodweb 4 times is called "Akitos Crutch". :P

(But I think, OP is happy that he got all Perks on his Oni)

  • Aha, another Killer proud about his Crutches.

  • Devs posted Pictures of Yamaoka on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. So I wouid assume the Update comes out in Waves. At least those Maps will get a graphical Update.

  • PC here, not much difference. Console Players try to 360 a lot, but I guess this will go down, because it does not really work against PC-players. But other than those free Hits, I did not notice much of a difference.

Even faced a Console-Nurse two days ago, was fun.

I mean, if I only play Pig, I could probably switch into most other Killers that I never play and end up in a position to slaughter newbies for a while.

If I understood it correctly, if you never played a Killer before, you should start at a somewhat similar Rating which would get adjusted. Meaning, if you played Pig and never played Nurse, you will start at around the same Level, get your ass beaten a few times and will get better Matchmaking for Nurse-games.

  • I like the game, its fun. And if someone is a bad individual, I ignore them. I knew toxic communities for years, so I am not even sure if the DBD Community is the worst.

(e.g. I played World of Tanks for years, and being an international game played with WW2-Tanks, there is quite some racist stuff going on in the Chat, even tho, it got better)

And regarding unbalanced things...eh. I think, aside from Moris and Keys, the game is quite balanced. Its not as bad as some people claim it to be.

Yeah that would be fine if killers could be in 3 places at once. You get one of a gen another 2 pop behind you. Ruin prevented the Genrush as it slowed the repair time for gens. If your playing trapper or hag or something how the hell you gonna set your traps and stuff as well as make sure 3 gens don't pop in 2 minutes.

I am realistic. I think you cannot play Trapper and have the Mindset that you will end the game with 5 Gens still up. I use my Corrupt Intervention to make my Setup, if after 2 minutes 2 or 3 Gens are gone, this is fine for me, I expected that. On the other Hand, if I played Spirit and 2 or 3 Gens popped in 2 minutes without me downing someone, I clearly messed up.

    A perk doesn't define skill

And I think it should matter that the survivors are good against different

Like if I am good against a Wraith then I'd go up against good Wraiths... And if I am bad against Billy then I should go up against lesser skilled Billy's (in my opinion)

Of course a Perk does not define Skill, but if I use Spine Chill, I will be more likely to know if the cloaked Wraith is coming for me compared to someone who does not run Spine Chill.

But how you describe, this is not how MMR should have worked. If you are a good Survivor, you will go against someone who is experienced with their Killer. If you are a new Survivor, you will have a Killer who is not experienced. This should help learning Killers, so if I want to learn Nurse, I will be matched with worse Survivors than with Billy, where I have a few Hundred hours.

It got better and then it's slowly got worse and now it's pointless. Gens go too fast, hexes get annihilated on 10 seconds. Survivors use broken pallet loops, one of the stronger killer perks (ruin) got destroyed that's when things got absolutely crap because killers cant protect gens anymore. The survivors still manage to ultimately Genrush.

YOU as the Killer should force Survivors off Generators, not a Perk. And there are no broken Pallet Loops anymore. There are strong Pallet Loops, but those are gone when the Pallet is broken. But there are no God Loops anymore.

I've been playing for 4 years and watched as the games died

If you played for 4 years you should know that the game was much harder for Killer back then.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

Alright so if killers are rated separately then shouldn't the survivors be rated on how they played against that killer

Like if survivors load into a Lobby that had a high MMR Wraith but switched to Billy... maybe the survivors were high MMR vs. that Wraith but not against Billy

    What then?

Survivors would not be rated against Killers. Like, you will not have a Rating that shows that you are awesome when facing a Wraith but terrible when facing a Billy. There is only one overall Rating for Survivors.

And this makes sense - if for example Survivors have a good Rating against Wraith, this would most likely mean that they are running Spine Chill, which helps against Stealth Killers. So if someone is good at Wraith, they will go against Spine Chill Users the whole time at some point.

  • Survivors are just Skins, but Killers will have their own Rating with the MMR-System. This is currently disabled, but it will most likely return.

What brought you to the conclusion that Killers NEED camera advantages?

  • I guess I have read 5 Threads for each side playing dirty the last few Days. Console Killers are sweaty, PC Killers are sweaty, Console Survivors are bad, PC Survivors are bad, Console Killers are toxic, PC Survivors are toxic and so on.

Its the person who is playing the Character, not the platform.

  • They can also disable them and test them on a PTB. And once they got reworked, they can enable them again.

  • Devs already said in another Thread that this idea is noted. Of course there is no guarantee that it is happening, but they know about it.

Even tho, I would let the Add On do something different in that case, I think 101% Movement Speed while charging the Shred is enough.

    a) You would know before that the Killer is Spirit

    b) Stridor would not be a thing

Other than that "Just use Iron Will" is not really a counter.

  • No grunts of pain would be an option. No sound at all would be wrong.

Or dont let Stridor trump Iron Will (what some people claim to be a "counter" to Spirit, when it is actually not a counter since you dont know before that you are playing against Spirit and she can use Stridor to counter (and really counter) Iron Will), but this would make Stridor basically useless for any other Killer as well.

(even tho, I almost only see Spirits using it)

  • Oni. Both have to build up their power, but once Oni got his power, he will get it back quite easy and he is way more devastating. The only thing that can be annoying about Myers is that you cannot be seen by him the whole game and then instantly get his Tier 3, because someone else was feeding him.

And I am pretty sure OP will also not play against 4 man SWFs constantly.

  • There is no counter if he cancels his ability and goes for an M1. Lose/Lose Situation, basically, vault the Window and you get the M2, dont vault it and get the M1.

  • BBQ. It should be an incentive to go for a different Survivor, yet a Killer can get Stacks even when he camped or tunneled the first person to Death meaning that it does not matter at all.

  • She mostly needs an Add On Rework, less focus on the Traps, more focus on her Crouch and Dash. Its kinda sad that most people think that the Traps are her only power, they dont need to be more threatening, IMO its the most boring way to get a RNG-Kill via Headpop (which is fine when it happens, but if someone uses Tampered Timer or stuff like that for a Headpop...eh).
