  • I am too. Can run a purple to low red rank nurse and a spirit, shake in my boots at the sight of a yellow rank trapper. It hits you right in the pride ya know?

  • Ran everywhere, used every pallet immediately, didn't understand what the heartbeat was so I left people to die out of fear the killer was nearby even when there wasn't one. Didn't open exit gates even when people were in chase.

But I think the crowning one was thinking that post game chat wasn't a cesspool. That's an incredibly noob thing to think.

  • I have magnets in my feet and am basically a guaranteed kill for a trapper. I'm that guy that gets caught in an open, well lit field.

  • @Milo said:

Ok, am i the only one that thinks that Nightshroud does help him in a chase?

Agreed. Nightshroud is a godsend in chase. The only issue he really has (when compared to other stealth killers) is the latency on reveals causing missed reveals that should happen and reveals that happen too late

  • Mostly because of how it'd effect the new battle pass system and shards.

  • I don't necessarily hate any of these tactics but I do hate survivors who fall for them. IE, crouch around the hook. Constantly sprint at slugs. Etc.

Camping can really get on my nerves but that's mostly because I don't get to do anything for an entire game and the killer is very rarely doing it for a competetive advantage. 9 times out of 10 it's just because they didn't like me.

  • I could dig this. That perk needs a lot of help to be viable given it's only useful against a very specific subset of killers

You could, although without an account, we wouldn't be able to deliver your prize. You would be doing so purely for fun.

@Peanits Thank you! I'll let them know.

They're a big fan of the game's art design but they don't really play games. When I mentioned the contest to them they got super excited so I wanted to ask here and see how possible it'd be for them to give it a shot ^-^

    I'm glad it's an option

Huh... nice. I'll add these to the smaller change list on my thread with a credit for you if you want.

    Sure, I don't mind

  • Simple Solution IMO.

    1. Remove his cooldown or make it incredibly shorter. It's completely pointless now for him to have to wait to reuse feral frenzy so often when he can't down people with it. (change Frank's Mixtape because it's trash as is and is the only reason the long cooldown makes sense)
    2. Massively pump up his Feral Frenzy movement speed and reinstate the old vault speeds. Why should they be so slow if they can't down anyone. That's illogical when you have people like Spirit and Billy in the game who are both fast and lethal.

With both of these changes he gains a ton of map pressure and knowledge. They'd still be an m1 killer but they'd be able to harass people more often. They'd feel like they're everywhere. They'd feel like a legion.

    @UlvenDagoth@StarMoral Thoughts?

I don't see a reason why you couldn't participate just for the fun. Obviously you couldn't get a prize in case you win, but since that is not the issue, go ahead.

That's what I'm going to tell them. The worst that could happen is they can't be picked as a winner which isn't really a big deal for something like this

  • I'm competetive. Just not in the way the devs want me to be. They want me to care about their broken emblem system but all I care about is points.

True, thanks for @ing them. I always feel bad for doing so on a personal post (increasing their workload) and end up just hoping they'll see it (I know they try to look through these as thoroughly as they can)

  • @InfinyMage

If you were still in the in game lobby, you'd want to open the report option, choose cheating, and then link your video and screenshot evidence (yes, it's unnecessarily convoluted)

I was going to link you to their support site but it seems you can't submit reports once you've left the end game lobby screen, only add to previous reports if you have too much information for the in game report box (which has a character limit for... reasons)

  • That's definitely a hack. The bug that keeps people at sprint burst speed after being hit is much slower and she seemed to literally teleport from one area of the map to the other.

If you took screenshots of the pause screen (where it'd show her player and character name) I'd strongly recommend reporting her with this video as evidence

I know, but doing that with Pallets takes way longer and would result in ~500 Bloodpoints in total if you set them to the same as Map points.

True, true. I got distracted by salivating at the thought of the points

It's not rude to tell someone to think about something.

I believe they were referring to the "activate your brain for a second" part. That comes across as a "you're not using your brain if you disagree with me" statement. Not a "hey, you need to think about this." statement.

  • @Boss said:

It's a decent suggestion, but they wouldn't have two clowns be put into the game tbh buddy...

Not impossible, but it's very unlikely they'd make another Clown Killer.

I'll never understand this. We have 2 inbred, mutated, hillbillies. 5 masked edgelords, two spooky ghosts. Why can't we have another clown?

  • Prestige might not feel like a good idea from a grind perspective but damn does it feel good getting someone to p3 level 50. When my Pig hit that I was so happy. It's a wonderful feeling.

Besides, the grind is about to get easier with the Archives.

I do strongly recommend saving up a mil bp before the prestige though. So she's not working with like 2 perks for a while.

  • I don't know why but my brain is saying Jasper

Majority of the playerbase are nice people, maybe a bit too competitive but if you get into the higher ranks its only natural your somewhat competitive. What i see is the vocal minority that out shines the silent majority so it just seems like a lot of people are toxic.

That being said if you as a rank 10 or 1 want to play a high level game and see a rank 20 failing each skill check i can see how it might get irritating. But thats on the part of match making, not the rank 20.

    @FireHazard said:

It's because some players like to get a rise in others... they like the reaction and they like to ruin others experience to benefit their own. It could be because they're bored, they actively seek to ruin other peoples experience, or they're just in-general "toxic."

These players are in the minority now of the community (which is good...) and they still sometimes come out to give negative feedback like on the forums, or even in game against nooby/pro players. Some players also actively go to the lower ranks to do this...

It's a cruel outlook on how to treat your fellow Survivor/Player, and it's kind of sad tbh.

Yeah... I'll be honest this was mostly a frustrated rant. At the time of writing I'd had multiple games in a row where my teammates did nothing but insult the low rank killer we got for not being good at the game, for being loopable, for not finding people thanks to their ability to bully them just after rank reset. That got to me because a lot of these new players were genuinely distressed by this behavior and I'd really not like to lose potential members of the community just because some people can only have fun by stomping on others.

Like It's ridiculous how many players we can lose because of this behavior.

Keep them off gens with as many slow down perks as you can get and then go for the occasional hook. Suddenly you're at rank one even if you can never really manage to get kills.

  • clown. No one plays clown because they know better

  • I'm voting pig because most of her addons aren't that good so you're losing less if you prestige her early. (I also just like her more. She's my only P3 killer)

Testing servers on live is not something new.

They're not but generally there's more forewarning and a discussion with the community beforehand. Most games that run major tests like this give at least a week of warning and at the very least tell the players on the launcher if not within the client itself.

The issues the OP are pointing out is mostly the lack of communication on the subject. Not everyone who plays DBD is going to follow the devs social media. Not everyone comes to the forums every day.

These nerfs were needed. Now all me need are keys and moris to be changed.

I'm actually feeling really hopeful for those changes now. Like I can see them happening.

  • Oh gosh that's hard. I like Surge more because it saves you a ton of time, but pop is crazy good for keeping down a specific gen.

I guess it really depends on your playstyel. I'd likely go with Surge so I don't have to waste time kicking gens instead of chasing.

  • I genuinely despise that they all hold their weapons in the wrong hand on the menu.

I wouldn't mind a lefty though. Especially if that lefty held their weapon in the right hand on the menu.

  • I will admit, that excluding Nurse there hasn't been a major killer change in a while that was negative. Most have been buffs to killers that have been considered weaker.

Personally I'm hoping for them to look into the more unfun addons on both sides, but especially killer. Most addons are useless and then you have a handful that are far too strong (looking at you Prayer Beads)

I don't find killer fun. I survive only. Every patch it's getting harder and harder to be a survivor. Is this why they released SWF?

That first sentence is actually why a lot of these things are changing. Instas didn't feel fun for killers because it could add up to two health states to a survivor mid chase for free, kinda like old Metal of Man but in addon form. Now they require thought to use.

I do think that with their nerf they should either

    • Not eat a medkit when used or...
    • Not remove 25-50% charge

They're not worth the cost to the medkit in this new, more balanced state.

Nurse got changed because a lot of survivors found her unfun to face. She could down anyone in a matter of seconds like it was nothing while having a ton of map pressure with certain addons. So they changed all of her addons, removing the things survivors hated and making the other addons useful.

They also tried to nerf her chase potential basekit, which would be fine IMO if it didn't also destroy her mobility (she's now a very defensive killer rather than an offensive one)

Either way, I don't think either of these things will chase off a large percentage of the killer or survivor base. The only people likely to leave are people who use Instaheals every single game or the Killers who refuse to play anything other than Nurse despite the huge roster.

As for the previous nerfs to survivor a lot of them had good reasoning to them. The hatch closing was because, previously, a killer lost the hatch standoff despite the fact that they won the game. That was silly.

The end game collapse happened because, once the game was over, a lot of survivors would just run around the map messing with the killer because they knew they could escape at any time. (The problem with this is that now survs just do all but the last gen and then go hide and stall the game if they want to do that. And now killers can just trap a survivor at a loop in the end and guarantee a kill without ever downing them. This fix didn't help anyone really and nerfed pig.)

The pallets were changed because... Teleports. I'll be real, I don't think anyone was actually mad about that change.

Killers get changes too, but they're all individual changes. This is because you have amazingly strong killers and horrendously weak ones. If they buff all killers, the amazingly strong ones get stronger. If they nerf all killers, the horrendously weak ones get weaker. Killers require special attention to be changed.

Survivors on the other hand are all exactly the same so any changes to them affect all survs.

  • They're changing insta heals, it's only really a nerf for the needle. They're also changing nurse and I'd say that's a lot harsher of a nerf than what they're doing to the instas.

I'll never understand the people who only look at the game from one side like this.

  • Didn't forget. There's a lot of posts that happen every day. Even the most popular posts get pushed down.

Heck, your own post was on the front page yesterday and still managed to get pushed really far back in 24 hours.

  • Noed is, by itself, fine. There really should be a UI counter for both sides though. Being able to know how many totems have been broken would be incredibly useful for decision making on both sides.

  • They're all really good (Well, I don't know about Stranger Things)

But the Evil Dead movies are some of my favorites of all time so i guess I'll go with that.

  • I forgot to vote before typing.

His set up time is atrocious because of terrible trap spawns and the fact that he can only carry one at a time baseline. Hag doesn't have to do that. "But hag still has to hit you twice!" Yes, and it takes about half a second (sweet, sweet rngesus) to get out of the trapper's trap and he can't teleport now can he?

His traps can be deadharded over, completely negating them. He can step in his own trap. That makes him, like Leatherface, one of the only two killers who can be hurt drastically by his own power. If he forgets a trap location he can be heavily punished. Something that never happens to any other killer and they all take far less set up time.

Of course, Trapper is still my most feared killer. A good trapper is a sight to behold but they are still hurt by these things, map design, and rng.

A thought I had a while ago is that he should get a sort of stackable "bloodlust" when people are trapped. If he's in a chase and someone elsewhere gets trapped he gets a speed boost to take down the chased target or to return to the trap. The more people that are trapped, the faster he goes.

I'm not sure if the above idea is too strong, but I do know it would help a lot.

I think the mapsets should have one chance to be selected. Like not one chance for every Coldwind map, one chance to get a random Coldwind map. Maybe i wouldn't play 90% of my games on Coldwind or Macmillan then.

    @Redcum said:

They should make it so that every realm has the same chance of being selected instead of every level.

^^^ This. It should roll for the realm and then roll for the map instead of just rolling for the map. This way you'd have a higher chance of getting the unique maps

  • Yes, yes it should. If you really wanna avoid the tombstone that bad just repeatedly vault something and he'll likely just end up stabbing you it results in the same thing. The difference being a small window of opportunity for the tombstone so you can't just cuck the achievement but the odds of not being tombstoned are still 90% in your favor.

  • This is the closest to what I want. With the new archives that reset every mid chapter, the rank should reset the same way. I'd rather have them rework the entire ranking system though. It's been garbage for a long time and the Emblem system is terribly designed.

    @SleepyWillo said:

Rank should go back to 20 for everyone and be reset every 2 months instead of every 1

That would be terrible. Its the reason they removed the ability to derank below rank 15 - killers and survivors were taking advantage of it to bully and harass newer players.

People still do that. It didn't fix anything because the matchmaking for people below rank 15 has to go up beyond 15 so that, if there aren't any other new players, they can still play the game. IE. You can still derank to 15 to bully new players. The only difference is that you can also be matched with rank 9s. The matchmaking has a 6 rank window up and down.

  • Points make me feel like I won, good chases (on both sides) make me feel like the game was fun.

  • Trapper would be interesting. Been a while since we've had a horror movie in which the killer thinks ahead of their victims rather than just blindly chasing them or "OOOoooOOOoooHHH, spooooooky GHSOOHST" because that's the most common movie type now

  • @Theoretical_Heart said:

We do we even have ranks? It's meaningless. I've played this game for around 2 years (I did take a break for 6 months this year though) and honestly despite what some would have you believe I cannot tell the difference between ranks 15(ish) through 1. The only difference I've seen is from brand new fresh off the boat players. Anyone whose played more than 25 to 50 matches is generally on the same level with everyone else.

Some us red rankers like to toot oue horns but ranking has less to do with "skill" and more to do with how many hours a day you play.

I agree with you. Though I think a big part of that is that most of the really good players don't want to play at the high ranks so they purposefully derank and play more casually. With no reward and less fun games, why would you ever want to rank up. This leads to each rank being more mixed. Combine that with the fact that the rank system is inherently bad at determining how skilled a player is and there's really no point to it anymore.

  • High mobility, good chase potential, and a ton of pressure while still having counterplay out the ass
