I'd rather see hex perks get a buff than see the only "Killer have fun" option be nerfed into the ground.
The only "killer have fun" option? That's the only way that a killer can have fun? Really? By cutting their objective down by a third?
And you're right, it shouldn't be nerfed into the ground and some hexes should be buffed. But Devour Hope is one of the most well balanced Hexes in the game. It's a Hex that's incredibly powerful if used correctly, takes some work to accomplish (IE, doesn't hand you a win on a platter), and has counterplay.
Most other Hex: Perks do nothing for you and can be destroyed, wasting a slot but Devour is definitely not in the category of bad perks. If you're bad with Devour, it's definitely not the perk's fault.
Mori's should remain strong but they should be as strong as other iridescent items. As strong as BNPs, the new (and improved) styptics, the rainbow map, the skeleton key.
All of those are strong without being a free win for someone with a brain cell (except for the key, the key takes no thought and deserves some slight changes just like moris do)
Presently an Ebony cuts all survivor lives down by a third, if you're only looking at health states. That means that survivor play time is cut down by one third overall. Killers can't have fun if gens pop at the speed of light. Survivors can't have fun if the amount of time the game is balanced around for them to play gets a giant chunk of it removed with no counterplay at all.
For a better example, lets imagine survivors had an offering that cut the gens down to 4 and one gen started slightly above 50% completed and couldn't be kicked down below that amount. That is the equivalent of a mori. 1.66~ gens is a third of your time stripped from you with no say in the matter.
So yes, they shouldn't be nerfed into the ground but they definitely shouldn't be as strong as they are. Especially given we haven't even talked about the extra time lost by the fact that mori animations are faster than sacrifice animations and don't require the killer to risk a decive, flashlight save, etc or waste time carrying the survivor anywhere else, giving the killer significantly more down time than they'd normally have.
Killers who think that moris are perfectly fine as is, are no different than survivors who thought that the old BNP was okay.

Personally I just really want a totem counter.
I wouldn't mind your idea though. It's the first community noed change that didn't boil down to "delete this"

Right here. When you take this position your implication is that you have an entitlement not presented to attain the content. I'm not interested in having a hair splitting session cupcake.
If you want to pretend to be disassociated and only acting as a devil's advocate to avoid accountability for your position be my guest.
I responded with a negative attitude because the first thing you wrote to me was "You're entitled." That was uncalled for, and I apologize.
I'll be real with you. I don't like the battlepass at all but that's because I would never pay to work for someone. I would never provide money to do a job.
And you're right, I do feel a bit entitled to get what I, personally, paid for with my hard earned money. As such I would, in most cases, just buy the cosmetic I want. Not purchase a pointless battlepass as all of it will end up on the store anyway.
But I do agree with the people who are willing to spend money on a battlepass that it should be easily accomplished. Why would you spend money for something that only a select few can achieve.
As a matter of fact, I would compare the Battlepass system to a Carnival game. It's rigged so that the majority will fail. The difference is that most people who participate in a Carnival game are aware that it'll be a waste of their money. They're just doing it for fun.
I propose that BHVR lets you keep your intense grind, since that's what you'd want, while also applying an obvious warning for new players that informs them that unless they have X amount of spare time, the battle pass will be impossible for them to complete. This way less people will buy the pass expecting something different.
There'd be no problem with that if they genuinely wanted people to feel challenged by the pass and struggle to complete it. If they're selling to the "hardcore" gamers who have the time.
And after this, I'm done with the conversation. I'd rather not get a ban for arguing with someone over something as silly as a difference in opinion, a mod has already commented on the thread for obvious reasons.

This is absolutely broken logic. No one here is telling you to abide by any time schedule. You are free to ignore it.
It's you demanding that in ignoring that time schedule you be given everything.
You have no entitlement to everything you want. You do have the opportunity to achieve everything you want in the same fashion everyone else has in being offered that opportunity.
I do see a problem here. The west has created a culture where people who do not own intellectual property believe they have an entitlement to dictate how someone else's intellectual property is handled.
Okay sweetheart, go through the entire thread and find one thing that I've demanded. If you can do that, I'll read the rest of your post to make you feel better.

some people want something to work towards, want a time crunch to motivate them, who are you to say they’re wrong?
On the same note, who are you to say that everyone else has to abide by that time crunch just because you want it. Do you see the problem here?
Your entire argument hinges on you telling someone that they can't have what they want because you want what you want.

I mean. I'd get annoyed if it happened multiple times in a row. I really like it when I get the rare, relaxed meme game though
Also, I tend to do this when I dominate too much as Pig. IE, everyone is on deathhook and they haven't done a gen. I'll let them get two to three before I go through and finish them off

Gave my concerns and criticisms.
My main gripe with challenges is that too many people will throw a match in order to complete certain objectives, which for the people who just want to play, is going to be frustrating, especially as solo survivor.
I also gave my criticisms about the grind. Even in the best case scenario and completing all of the challenges, it will still take over 100 hours to complete the track. This is not factoring queue times, games that end prematurely, disconnections, etc. That's just... geez, that's a lot of time.
Oh but hey, there's a solution! Just pay more money and you can skip all the grind!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/501/0ZNBJFE8JX2Q.png
A company that by their own hand, has a problem in something they're selling, and then sells a solution to said problem? Yeah, that makes me very, very concerned.
Why concerned? Snake Oils are amazing! Why I hear they can fix everything!

I doub't that, see for cosmetics they don't actually require any further work. So they pay once and can sell as many times as they want. Another thing i really dislike this "rarity" of the skins.
Like how is anything rare ???
I'm guessing you're responding to the "break even" part? I was more talking when interacting with individual customers but yeah, you're right overall.
As for the cosmetic rarities, that does have a purpose. It's how much effort was required to make it. IE: The more they have to pay the artist, the rarer it is. That I'm fine with. I'm not fine with the fact that I have to damn near buy the game again for one outfit.

The problem with the pig`s RBT is that they are usually removed when inactive and survivors just don't finish gens.
I`ve suggested my concept of her full rework, but it was deleted by mods (i wonder why).
Basically all survivors would start trial with active RBT on them, which they can remove after doing all gens by searching a single JigSaw box.
I also changed a lot of her addons.
If you are interested, PM me and I`ll link you the reddit post where I duplicated the concept.
The problem with yours (I read it, didn't know it was deleted. It shouldn't have been IMO, was completely within the rules) is that Pig's traps are supposed to slow the game down. To discourage objective rushing as survivor. Your idea does the opposite, it encourages them to rush as hard as they possibly can (the last thing a killer wants).
A good pig uses her traps like a built in Ruin. It slows the game down dramatically and helps her secure kills as an m1 killer.
The problem with OP's suggestion is that it goes too far in the opposite direction: It completely removes all suspense to the jigsaw traps because you know exactly which one will remove the trap while also being easily cheesed by Pig.
If you really wanna fix Pig, the parts of her that really need help are her stealth abilities. The lunge is garbage and her crouch speed is incredibly (and unnecessarily) slow. If those two things were fixed she'd be in a great place because her traps are fine as is.

Or they could... you know... make it not a scam. By simply removing the Auric Cell rebate. There is MORE than enough content in the premium pass to be worth ten bucks.
I'd rather spend the ten and actually be able to complete the pass and get what I paid for than to have the potential of getting Auric Cells back and the pass be uncompletable.
I mean. That's basically what I said. If they fix the grind and make it into something that isn't an obvious scam, then they'd need to remove a lot of the auric cell rebate. Maybe not all but most of it.
-
The biggest problem with battlepass systems IMO is that you pay money that you worked for to work for something else.
That'd be like me paying a pizza joint to let me work there. Do you see the problem?
-
I voiced my concerns about how these things make it feel like a cash grab
- Excessive grind that very few people have the time to complete
- Time locked challenges
- Challenges that detract so much from normal gameplay, many players will throw just to complete a quest
- The ability to pay your way through the tiers because they know you can't grind your way through them without living an extremely unhealthy lifestyle and giving up your IRL commitments.
I also noted that, from a business standpoint, it's probably a bad idea to reimburse every auric cell spent if they fix the grind.
It's fine now because no one will ever make their money back but they'll go broke if they ever make a version of the rift that isn't an obvious scam. (Well, they won't go broke because they have many, many, many other sources of income but they will probably just break even on Rift content)

I enjoy exclusives when they're more like "trophies"
Like something you have to work hard to obtain. So like if the lantern event had them I'd love it.
I don't really care for them when it's for an event where you just play normally though. Because then it's like a "I was here" picture. Pointless given I can just save an offering for the same effect.
It'd also feel like a slap in the face if all this battle pass stuff had exclusives

That movie ######### with me the first time I saw it (was way too young for that). Was really good
Oh! Speaking of ######### that got me as a kid,
"Mirrors"
Thar be demons in those mirrors
^ I was a child when I saw it, so it's actually probably not as scary as I remember. I just know this movie, along with the bloody mary movie that released 2 years prior left me intensely afraid of mirrors as a kid.
I still get wary around them and I'm 21 now. (Note: Both movies have one of those nasty neck snapping scenes where the bone pokes up but the skin stays in place. I remember those vividly. I think those were the scenes that broke me at 8 and 10)
-
"The Collector"
Guy breaks into a house to steal a valuable from people he'd done handyman work for before (to pay off his wife's debts to a loan shark. He finds that someone else already broke into the house and booby trapped the entire thing with the family trapped inside.
"Leprechaun"
Less secretly good and more bad in all the best cheesy ways ways
Leprechaun comes for its gold
"Tremors"
Excluding the name they eventually give the creatures that cause the tremors this is a great horror movie about things that lurk under ground and hunt based on sound (The movies get weirder with every sequel. Though that's normal in horror)

I know it's a short amount of time, but that little bit of time at the start of the match really defines how the rest of the match will play out.
This a thousand times. As killer all time is important. Gaining even 30 seconds can turn a loss into a win as fast as losing 30.
-
It's very dependent on the match, the survivors I have, the killer I have (if playing surv), whether or not I'm doing a daily, whether or not the stars have aligned, etc etc

Pig main here, other Pig mains are disturbing. That whole oink cult that was a thing on reddit for a while was cringey as hell, thank god the mods killed it.
As for the OP, "she's not like everyone else" so everyone who thinks they're an 'outsider,' ie. everyone, thinks they can relate to her. I don't get the hype for her.
We had a cult and no one told me?! Why wasn't I invited ;-;
For real though, what the hell would a Pig main cult even be? Like I love her, she's fun to play and has a nice aesthetic (even if the devs hate her) but... Like what did they do?

BNP lost its penalty because it got nerfed extremely hard. Its not a good addon at all now. The instaheals are still REALLY good even with this nerf.
I'm taking that as a personl attack because I really like using BNPs in their current state ):<
Just kidding. I do like them, but yeah that makes sense. It was a much heavier nerf.
I'll wait until they're live and bump this post after a few weeks if I still feel that they don't need the penalty
(Also, I think the new Styptic is better than the new Syringe tbh)
-
@ClogWench said:
Syptics are arguably better to a degree now since they can also save you against Exposed. in the end it still grants a free hit, so better or worse its still extremely powerful. Worth losing a kit over.
Syringe is weaker now but still really good, you just cant stop mid chase with nothing between you and the killer and expect to get a free heal. You have to play it smart, but still get a good effect.
Fair. They are both quite strong. I just find having the same penalties as before odd given BNP got a benefit for it's loss. They still definitely need a penalty of course, I just don't think the charge loss on the medkits is necessary. Or at the very least it should be lowered

I feel like shroud offerings have become completely useless. I very rarely spawn away fromthe other survivors, so why would i use a shroud to spawn near them when that already happens?!?!?!
Ahem... Anyway you also make a good point, it would be nice to be able to cover more ground at the start.
The shroud addons were always bad tbh.
- Survivors want to be split so that they can get more gens at once
- Survivor shroud brings them together
- Killers want survivors together so that it's easy to pressure multiple survs at once
- Killer shroud separates them
Devs made the shrouds when they thought it would be a spooky horror game where being alone made you nervous
If there's one thing it's not, that's a game where being alone is what makes me nervous
- Survivors want to be split so that they can get more gens at once
-
@Mister_xD said:
both would render the offering useless.
IF you wanna change something, i suggest the following changes:
cypress memento mori: you become obsessed with one survivor. allows you to kill your obsession after they have been hooked once.
ivory memento mori: allows you to kill one survivor after they have been hooked
ebony memento mori: you become obsessed with one survivor. you can kill your obsession after they have been hooked once. killing your obsession will make you obsessed with another, random, alive survivor.
That'd actually be really cool. My initial idea was to tie it to a gen with 1completed gen = 1 potential mori after hook (and maybe lower gen count to 4 instead of 5)
Yours is waaaay simpler and much more effective at the same goal of keeping them powerful but making them fair.

I like the idea, since charms are added, I think there could be ways to customize that. However, you risk making the game too complicated, because with powers like Plague, which need a color difference to be obvious to survivors what type of vomit she has, being able to change her vomit to orange or black would not help survivors understand the situation and cause more confusion in the long run.
With things like huntress hatchets, they could make the design of the hatchet based off of Addons, since Iridescent head is described to look a certain way, etc.
I'll be honest, I didn't even really think about the plague vomit... Hm... They could follow a rule of the "infectious" vom being bright colors only and make it so that the vile vom is always the deep red no matter what. But yeah, they'd have to be extremely careful there

It's probably gonna be pretty hard to do with Shape.
Not just cause he has nothing visually, but it took this long to finally get some more cosmetics for the guy, which is still movie-related.
And yeah, his power and his license are tough to work with
On an upside, I've thought of a potential "cosmetic" for the other stalky boy. The cloud of darkness that sucks inside of him when he Shrouds and explodes when he leaves shroud could have it's effect customized... Maybe. That might not be appealing enough for people to get it though
-
I like it ^-^
-
I'll go first.
I'd love this (part of why I made the poll) I'd just want them to find a way to do it for the stalky bois, Legion, Spirit, and Hag
Also, I feel these could either be their own cosmetics or they could be attached to the weapon cosmetic, making it so that if you get, say, a new clown knife you also get a bottle and a gas color for it.
IE: Hallowed Blight Knife could = Ooze bottle with yellow gas
Of course I wouldn't mind a completely separate cosmetic for powers though. That'd just be harder
-
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/94576/power-cosmetics
here, I made a poll to see what people would think of ideas like this for everyone
-
But only after I've completed it enough to feel like I'd be missing out not to. IE, if I play enough and get to a tier where I have a bunch of things I'd want I'll buy it so I can get those things retroactively.
I won't, however, be buying them every single time. I can't garuntee I'll play enough for it to be worth it each month
-
Honestly I just think the base game should be free since they have 3 different ways to guarantee cash flow within the game now. They have Licensed Chapters, The Cosmetic Store, and The Rift.
And the main reason i want the base game to go free is because it is incredibly hard to convince a friend to buy a game where they don't get all the content immediately when that game has this many micro transactions. DBD could easily stay alive without the measily 20 dollars for the basic ######### 4 killers and 5 survs now and more people would come in if they didn't have to buy their way into a game where they have to buy most of the content or grind for years to get a few og chapters.
Hell, I'd actually be willing to buy cosmetics if I hadn't spent so much on just being able to play the full game. And yes, I think not owning one of the dlcs means I don't own the full game because I don't have access to those perks unless I'm lucky and I can't play as that killer unless I shell out the cash which means I'm missing out on an entire aspect of the game.

But, in the end you should really go with whatever you feel the most affinity to.
Good tip for deciding: Narrow it down to two options then flip a coin to make the final decision. The side of the coin your gut wants it to land on while it's in the air is the answer. If you don't notice that feeling then you'll likely either feel relief or disappointment when you first look at the landed coin and I'm sure you can guess what either of those feelings mean in relation to this test.
Note: If you use the coin trick too often your brain will figure out that you're tricking it into responding and you'll stop getting the feeling. Just use it for important/permanent decisions.
It's kinda like how if you pretend to throw something for a dog it doesn't fall for it after a few rounds (Also, don't do that. it's mean to the dog.)
