So with all recent updates, we have the following changes :
Killer pig head perk greatly buffed and can easily make waste of medkits if a ongoing healing is interrupted;
DS disables even if someone try self-healing, making this perk become very situational, merely useful against tunneling;
Self-heal greatly nerfed to promote boons, which wastes extra time to do totems;
DH changed and very impractical to use;
BT buffed, but only encouraging risky hook saves which actually leads to faster killer kills;
Killers now have Hook Goes The Weasel which additionally slows down already 90s slow gen repairing;
Overcharge now greatly regress ongoing gen repair especially paired with Pop Goes The Weasel;
In the past few days, I grinded from ash to irisdescent on my killer with Doctor and Nurse with nearly no difficulty, since survivors rarely have counter-play except for gen rushing, and the latter is easy to break once you kill fast enough and know how to control your gens; on the contrary, I have rarely escaped the door when playing survivors since it has been dramastically more difficulty than half a year before when I quitted the game. Any suggestions on how to play survivor now (except swf) or you also think the game is fu*ked and poorly balanced now?
p.s. : in the past you needed to queue up and wait to play survivor while playing killer was always instant match, and now the situation is reversed, killer needs to queue up while survivor instant match
"Is survivor still playable anymore now" Is it just me or is it really hard to comprehend that title.
And yes it's fine. Gen rushing is coming back slowly but surley

Pharmacy is disabled completely when you are healthy, you can't even unlock Chests faster.
The change completely removed the pro-active usage from the perk, horrible...
Yeah, you can find multiple Medkits, but first you have to find them, and this can be too time consuming, especially with new gen times and stronger killer chases.
Wdym. It was so op. It let you waste time opening a chest and getting 1 full heal. It's not like there is COH or any better healing perks in this game

So apparently, after you reach a certain prestige level, lower rarity add-ons and offerings stop appearing. One of my friends just got pig to prestige 20, and the only addons he ever bothered using were combat straps and john's medical file. But now he's upset, because those add-ons are literally never appearing in his bloodwebs.
At first when he told me this my response was "PepeLaugh you didn't know the lower rarities would stop appearing lol."
But this makes me wonder, if this ends up being a problem that enough people talk about, will the devs do anything and what will they do? Often times some of the best killer add-ons are brown and yellow, and the higher rarity addons are either busted, or far weaker than the brown and yellows. So what happens if you run out of the addons you like to use, but you literally can't get any more of them because you've prestiged so many times, and the game refuses to put them in your bloodwebs?
Bloodwebs got mad expensive because of this

Iri 1 is too easy and dosnt feel like an accomplishment. Depiping is fine, they made a good change where you can't de-rank and that's good how it is. Be grateful.
But I do get where you coming from especially cause u depip when you get facecamped

When is the Nurse rework coming?
No, not a "we gave her two more meme add-ons and doubled her cooldown", a real bottom-up rework that allows Nurse to co-exist with the rest of the Dead By Daylight killers and knock her off of the unhealthy platform of the only killer where your best counterplay is dying somewhere inconvenient.
I'm not going to get into add-ons or perks, because I exclusively play perkless and add-onless as Nurse and I still stomp every game as long as I least look at the screen while I'm playing.
Nurse is piss easy. No, I'm not joking or exaggerating, nor am I trying to stir the pot. "Nurse is the hardest killer in DbD" is a lie we've told ourselves for far too long. Play one or two matches with her (and maybe bring Plaid Flannel) and seriously try to tell me she's any kind of difficult when she ignores pretty much every rule in the game.
Dead By Daylight is game where you live or die (or kill) based on minute positioning details. It's all about making the other player hesitate for even just a moment so you can get a half meter of distance and safely drop a pallet or vault a window (or hit them when you trick them into being out of position). This is more or less the entirety of chase in DbD. Fighting tooth and nail just to get a few feet away.
Nurse ignores all of this. She goes straight through the windows, the pallets, the walls, even the floor and the ceiling, and she gets right on top of you and hits you while you can do literally nothing. Then she does it again in mere seconds, and you're on the hook. There is no more game. No more choices to make, no more split second decisions and reads. It might as well be "Bubble Popper Clicking Simulator" for the Nurse and "How long can you hold Shift+W?" for the survivor. (yes there is counterplay to Nurse, it's just all really dependent on the Nurse player being bad... which is not what counterplay means).
So, teleporting on command to the extent that Nurse does is bad, but costly and conditional teleports like Freddy, Sadako, and Dredge are fine. But this begs the question, what the hell can we do to fix Nurse? Should she be completely reworked from the ground up for the sake of the health of game? No more teleporting for Nurse? Should she be nerfed significantly? Maybe just not teleport through walls at least?
I don't know. If this was my mess to fix, I would opt to completely change her from the ground up. Even if it meant upsetting fans of the killer. They did it to classic Freddy back in the day and turned one of the most unique and interesting killers (but also one of the worst) into a fairly boring but effective killer. Boring is at least better than broken in my opinion, and having a character that is an undisputed S+ tier for over half a decade is probably not a good thing.
Eh nurse is whatever. Console players never play her and she's not really that common to play against. Maybe once in 20 matches, so for me it's about once a day. She's fun to play against imo, even if we get clobbered

Sounds fine, would go well with a flashlight build.
When you blind the killer your scratch marks dissapear for 6,8,10 seconds. You make no grunts of pain and your footsteps silence.

I brought an all Hex Build. Crowd control, blood favor, pentimento, and devour. I was able to kill 2 of the survivors with 3 gens still to go, I decided in this game i no longer caree about the 4k so I gave the Ace 2 layup flashlight saves. Then him and the Meg walked around the map and directed me toward the totems so i could get 5 stacks of Pentimento lol.
Sometimes stuff like this is a nice break from the serious game play and sweat.
I can agree. Although if I'm not going sweat and I get farming matched it's very boring for me. If I'm going sweat for rank and there is farming I'm ok with it. It really just depends. I don't like constant farming though that's for sure

Roughly speaking, yes. My only concern, in this case, would be finding a good baseline that doesn't make the game feel insane. The fighting game philosophy might not translate well into an asymmetrical game, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Very interesting. Thanks for the feedback I hope to see you more around the forums.
-
@Slingshot47 said:
This is actually a topic that comes up often in fighting games. Is it better to nerf characters and mechanics or buff them?
After a while, the FGC has largely concluded that it is better to try and buff weak aspects of the game to be on par with the stronger aspects, rather than nerf strong aspects to be on par with weak ones. The reason why is largely down to which option feels more interesting or fun to play. When you buff more than you nerf, you tend to get bombastic games like Dragon Ball Fighterz and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Conversely, nerfing more than buffing can lead to more stale experiences, like with Street Fighter 5 and Mortal Kombat 11.
It's worth noting that this is not a hard rule, and buffing can absolutely be taken too far. The general idea is to have a relatively moderate or high base level and try to center aspects of the game's balance around that (Tekken 7 is a great example; almost every character is good, none are considered non-viable). If that baseline is too low, things don't feel impactful or satisfying. It may be balanced, but it's no longer fun.
So maybe instead of nerf all perks to the ground buff all perks to the meta, which technically wouldn't make them meta cause they all just as good

I wouldn’t want to play with perks that don’t feel like they’re doing anything for me.
I will agree that the power level of some of the best perks in the game is still a bit too high even with DH finally being gone. But perks can be decent without being overpowered. Perks like Poised are just terrible and need buffs. NOBODY uses that crap.
But what if every perk was as bad as poised? I mean if you think about it, IF there were never any meta perk to begin with and know one really knew what a good perk was and every perk in the game was bad, know one would think it would be bad because there was never anything to compare it to (if there where never any good perks in this game).
Obviously that's not possible because there has been and still are meta and good perks but I'm just throwing out "what if" theories

With the lack of incentives for over a month from now, and the increased BP grind, the monthly rewards will take more importance, yet the 'determined purely by playtime' Grades still allow for depipping. I assume that people who play SoloQ will not be going up based just on playtime when they happen to get Nurse or Blight matches back to back. It's time to remove depipping, which should have been dropped literally when Grades were introduced anyway.
Pipping is so easy though... it takes like 45 hours to get to rank 1 in 1 month that includes double pipping and depiping. Without depiping it would literally take like 30 hours to get to iri 1. Plus dcing would be more common

Easily (this may be biased from personal experience and liking) but Easily the best maps in the game are the ones containing badham preschool and the asylum, if you want to prove me wrong go ahead I'm open to some healthy debate
If you're talking atmosphere and aesthetics probably coldwin (house and slaughter house one) it would be even better if those maps weren't mega bright. Garden Of Joy is up there aswell.
Best maps setup wise for survivor are the game, treatment theater, and the one with the 2 story building in the middle with drop offs at the top.
Best maps setup wise for killers gotta be autohaven wreckers and sheltered woods
Also racoon city is a visualy appealing map but just a horrible layout design

I don't care about rank, but I need the survivor rank 1 achievement. I'm at rank 3 but I keep getting bad games. Even when I do pretty good and escape I don't pip up. What perks or strategies are the best for pips? Also is it possible to pip up even if you die?
Bring prove thyself def. Do about 1 1/2 preferably with a teammates. 2 hook saves and some heals. Run the killer around a little bit and throw pallets like its 2017. You don't necessarily need evaders points if you escape but you prob won't pip if you don't escape and haven't ran around the killer for awhile. Just balance out all the emblems

At the very least it should be something that you give to another Survivor, rather than something you equip to help yourself. Being able to buy another 34 seconds on hook for a Survivor getting camped AT LEAST buys the Survivors more Gen repair time.
The best case scenario on this perk being good is if there are two hooked Survivors, you could run passed one to give them Kinship, while you run off to get the other one off hook, buying some time. It being tied to who has it equipped is just straight bad.
Could also give a small unhook speed buff also, to give it just a little more Oomph.
It's the best perk in the game when you're in a 4 man swf
-
@stufoot99 said:
I wanted to talk about a perk that could really counter face camping. However this post isn't about an idea for a new perk, but about one that already exists: Camaraderie/ Kinship. It is a Steve Harrington perk, and is one of the many perks in the game that many people probably forgot existed in the first place. The reason for this is because of how bad the perk is.
The description reads, "While you are on the hook in the struggle phase, Kinship activates. If another survivor is within 16 meters of you while Kinship is activated, the hook timer is paused for 34 seconds". So why is this perk so bad? It has to do with how unbelievably situational it is.
One, in SoloQ, this perk would be so hard to use without communication (I've never used this perk, so I'm not sure if it even tells the other survivor that you have it or not). The only use this perk has in its current form is to be used by very cooperative SWFs, but even then they could just use something better. Two, this perk only has value when you are getting face camped, which doesn't happen every game (unless you are very unlucky).
So what is my proposed change? My idea is simple and keeps the same idea of this perk. Basically, keep the original perk, but add an additional effect of you being able to give Kinship to someone else who is on the hook, essentially the same way Kindred works. The new description would read, "While you are on the hook in the struggle phase, Kinship activates. If another survivor is within 16 meters of you while Kinship is activated, the hook timer is paused for 34 seconds. If you are within 16 meters of a survivor in the struggle phase, their hook timer is paused for 34 seconds".
This change makes this perk way more usable, and would be a decent pick for an altruistic player. This perk would still be situational, as it would only be really useful if the killer was face camping, which does not happen every game. To combat this, maybe an additional, completely different effect could be added to give Kinship some added functionality, but I don't have any ideas for what the effect might be.
In the end, this is a super simple change that would make Kinship go from a completely forgettable perk, to kinda decent, which is better than nothing. Let me know what you think!
It's the best perk in the game in 4 man swf. Pretty sure it's banned in tournaments

Alright, so there needs to be something done about the Myers Achievement that requires you to kill all people while being Tier 3. What I mean is simple, basically every round I'm trying to get this achievement the last 2 sure are hiding in a locker the whole game for hours just so I can't get it is this really how the devs think an achievement should be designed? Just being a total jerk and hiding inside a locker for hours so that someone does not get an achievement, please either make the achievement easier to get or let people out of the locker if there are 3 crows above their heads for hours…
Not to brag bit I did it first try. Don't avoid the people in the locker but take them out and set them down in corner of map or hook then, you will eventully get it and the last person will be hard. Just act like you are farming and give them the gate or hatch then murder there cheeks

@PapaQuintus said:
-Survivors disconnecting / suiciding on hook because they don't want to adapt (Hopefully BHVR are harsher on disconnecting, even if it's unintentional. Other games have a 30 minute penalty, while DBD only has 5 minutes). Even though i do not agree with every change in this update either, but there are no reasons to DC and make the game miserable for everyone else.
-Camping / Tunelling is a problem, that needs to be adressed (My idea for camping is to make the hook timer pause, while the killer is within a certain proximity of the hooked survivor and they are NOT in a chase within that proximity. This means that the killer has NO REASON to be within a radius of that survivor, if the killer is not engaged in a chase. Regarding tunelling, make it so that the unhooked survivor is invincible for a period of time, so that they can neither be hit, or take bodyblock hits.)
-Decisive Strike nerf is too harsh. 3 Seconds is NOTHING, especially against a blight, nurse or spirit. Disabling it during endgame was a huge nerf in itself, and there is no need for a decrease in the stun time.
-BHVR wanted to shake up the meta, but now the survivor meta is anti-tunelling builds.. what happened to shaking up the meta?
-Solo queue is in the worst position it has ever been in. Not only because of survivors disconnecting 50% of the time every game within 20-30 seconds, but also because of the camping and tunneling.
I would like to hear the community's thoughts on this, and if they have any other opinions / ideas regarding the patch.
I would respecfully say none of that is accurate. No offense. Mmr is the only problem

It also happened that last month during June it got its biggest gain ever of 17 000+.
I feel like this was one of the most hyped update yet that also was a big let down for a lot of players....
And no, I am not saying the game is dying, the avg player is still around 30-40K with peaks of 60K+ its just a bit worrying cause we only had this big hit of lost gain when SBMM was in its final phase before relase (Late August 2021-early September)
DBD is on a rough path right now, soloq has gotten more miserable. killer queues are still over 5 minutes no matter what time of the day u playing.
The perk grind is reduced but the actual grind is still the same, on top of it we still dont BP incentives active
cheaters running rampant
bugged killers
and much, much more. DBD need a pure health patch ASAP, it will benefit BHVR in the long term
Thats just pc players. There are a bigger console player base.

It is the second time in this year they have kill-switched a killer. The first time it was Nurse and now it is Clown. That is okay, if something is bugged it shouldn't be in the game. But why can't we have access to their loadouts and bloodwebs?
Now that the prestige affects all other characters giving you their perks and charms, you should be at least able to put BPs on them while they are in maintenance. If their problem is their gameplay, you could just lock the "READY" button and allow access to their menu.
Its more code than you think. Being able to access a killer in lobby but not in a match would conflict with alot of code and construction of the game. Your explanation can deffinatly be done but it would be much more time consuming and difficult than just completley killswitching which they did

@MommyHunktress said:
So as most anyone knows this is a very heated topic.
so let me go over issues survivors have.
-Solo is abysmal moreso than before
-killers still stack slowdown with these buffs
-mmr gives us potatoes
So as ive seen many killer state... dh was nerfed thats why people suck and games are bad, or well at high mmr the gens go by like they used to. oh give it a week. I NEVER ran dh for months and would last longer than damn near anyone in my games! why is that?! because i shouldnt be stuck with a bunch of people that DONT priortize gens, but because its based off escapes and im stuck with potatoes i get stuck at this mid ground where the killer loses the game while chasing me. the chase is NOT hard and the survivors who relied on deadhard still went down fast, its the good survivors that were the problem.
swf isnt complaining this patch because they arent affected they are just having a challenge, and also killer STILL isnt bad enough to have all slowdown. i play huntress with thana and pain res and corrupt, i lose corrupt value early and people heal against huntress and i cant just injure the whole team unless they are bad. but getting high mmr killer isnt hard so i have gens done but i still have good games and things havent changed.
do you see the pattern? the issue isnt the killer buff and its not gen speeds. its the slowdown on that and the fact it affects the majority of the playerbase not the rest, and to top that off with camping and tunneling being more common it makes everyone not wanna play which ruins the quality of games for everyone. and its been enough time to realize there IS an issue and you cant balance around high mmr because no matter what swf is coming out on top without major changes if they actually want to and good survivor randoms will do gens.
maybe at this point there is no fixing it, but instead of just insulting people telling them to get good and that your experience is fine, talk about it and realize different servers and different mmrs have different players and experiences
My experience has literally been bad killers who destroy my solo q team while not being able to catch me, so they give up on me or lose and majority they just snowball the bad players. not to mention slowdown stacks and camping and tunneling right off the bat. thats MY experience along with SOOOO many others. quit invalidating others experiences just because you are lucky.
Also not everyone wants to buy different characters to counter these playstyles. spending money or in game money which you want to save up shouldnt be the solution. running perks to counter an issue shouldnt be a solution. everytime i would run ds before i wouldnt be tunneled and i wouldnt be slugged with unbreakable, but as soon as i took them off id have it. I dont know why. or back with old spirit, just run iron will... like why waste a perk slot out of MY build because people refuse to see the problems that exist
It's not the patch that's causing the problems, but the horrible mmr system. If people got matched up with same caliber skill, this game would be more balanced than Robin falling on hive mines

After 3-4 years maining survivor I must admit last patch was a sign that I must be looking for a new game. In the first days, since likely I had high mmr, soloQ team managed max maybe 3-4 gens until 4K. After several of these matches I likely downgraded my mmr and luck changed, but the feel of the killers was just bad- complete babies, which didn't make that experience any fun.
What I noticed in most of my after patch matches?! Killers still run slowdown, regression perks. Killers still proxy camp, tunnel. That 5 sec BT does #########. And since gen repair nerf to 90 sec, camping is so much stronger. Actually, the same could be noticed after toolboxes, great skill checks and gen co-op was nerfed year or so ago, but not to this extent.
DBD just made every aspect of this game worse for survivor experience. I doubt they will revisit any changes in coming months, so... saying goodbye to great DBD community... Killer mains as well :):)

Finally got that book challenge because was matched with 3 SWF bully squad and killer was fresh.
What i wanted to say
SoloQ is literally unplayable, unless you're some pro tournament streamer. Devs should get up the nerve and make a statement: survivor gameplay is supposed for friend play. SoloQ is not meant to be and it's at your own risk. No problem with that, many quesions will be ceased immediately.
System requirements: internet connection, PC/Xbox/PS, 3 friends
Let me give an example: Hunt Showdown. You play 3 vs 3, or 2 vs 2. You can go solo agains duos and gain "underdog" bonus, or agains trios and get super "underdog" bonus. So solo is officially left for streamers, tryhards and challengers. Everyone fine with that. Why just simply acknowledge the same thing in DbD?
That awkward "you kinda can play Solo, but kinda can't" is really disorienting.
Another thing that stumbles me
Why many perks switches off at the EGC? It's like "You lose, but you can play well and go to the end, and then lose anyway". Why? Why killer is obliged to have win? There's some quota?
It's not the patch. It's mmr

- Body blocking is bannable, and AFAIK you now lose collision after a bit.
- Hide and seek is also bannable, as 'taking the game hostage'.
- Getting face camped is not 'doing nothing', you should be calling stuff out on voicechat and preparing to go when your team moves in for the trade. It sucks, but it's not what you are describing.
- Bleeding out, again, will be fixed with the mori rework.
Your move.
You cannot get banned from this even if you are reported

Been through every meta, from sabbing every hook on the map so killer only has basement and was forced to run iron grasp (hooks used to not regen), to the last stale meta of dead hard and DS.
I am a high level player so I've always been able to hold my own, even with the current changes which are terrible by the way. But the casual player has absolutely been destroyed by this latest update.
I play with several casuals including my girlfriend and they very rarely escape now. Maybe once every 8-10 matches when SoloQ, and a little more often when playing with me. Killer has been made way too easy to play. 9 year olds on xboxes with no headphones and all yellow perks can easily 4k lobbies now with minimal effort. Surely this was not the intended effect of the patch? It shouldn't be this easy for killers, and it definitely shouldn't be this difficult for the casual survivor. This is a big blunder by this dev team, and I can guarantee will result in shrinking player numbers over time as more and more casual grow tired of getting wrecked in almost every match they play.
Again, played since day 1, seen every meta, and this is unspeakably bad. This is going to kill the game if not addressed. The casuals will not continue.
I've been a player since around huntress release and I agree to this at some extent. The main problem with this is the unreliability with MMR. If mmr actually functioned properly the casual player wouldn't have such a hard time. After patch didn't exactly change anything though. Before patch the casual player had many safe nets like gen rushing and dh which required minimal skill. It was always up to that 1 cracked dwight that runs killer around. For me I believe it was always about the looping skill of the survivors that you are paired with. You almost never get paired with a full team of cracked vets vs a very good killer, it's always 3 trash survivors and 1 good survivor vs an okay killer. Just combinations like that.
So basically it's not necessarily about casual players getting recked because of patch but because of mmr screwing them over time and time again. If there where 4 casual survivors vs a casual killer this game would be as balanced as can be Eben with the new gen times

ya true plus hes gone from being a 4k hours survivor main to a 3.5k survivor main in the span of a day between his threads defending this update.
Do you know how to add

Oh look, another poster with a history of killer sided posts saying solo queue is fine. Color me surprised! But he has survivor in his name! Surely that means he's not biased. Nope!
Why you just make this up lmao. I am a die hard survivor main. There is no point in this post. I do not make survivor sided nor killer sided comments. Am am one in the middle

I agree, played survivor all night tonight to see what was up and if it was really as bad as people made it out to be and it's really not.
Things I learned tonight:
- Sprint Burst, Lithe, Overcome are all great and people should stop trying to run Dead Hard.
- Off the Record is overrated a lot of people I saw running it died pretty fast and if you get hit while running form the hook it doesn't do anything it wasn't already doing prepatch.
- Lightweight seems good? Like really good. A lot of killers didn't seem too interested in chasing me while I was running it and my chases were noticeable longer with it compared to without it.
- Prove Thyself is even more valuable than it was before. Makes increased gen time not noticeable.
- You NEED a healing perk. It doesn't matter which one you just need one, with no dead hard you don't get a free 3rd health state making getting hit that much more costly and chases the much shorter so heal tf up. Medkits are also invaluable and by far the best item you can bring.
- Hold W throw pallet is still effective also don't greed pallets.
- Do the gd gens, you will get punished so much more for walking around doing nothing. You do not have time to walk around saving your SB or whatever if you're healthy and have nothing else to do get on a gd gen or you will lose.
- DS is pathetic now yes but still almost still worth running to extend chases, that's how important buying time is now.
Honestly it's not bad you just have to be smart and all the people that were getting carried by DH are feeling it I have to think. I escaped probably 50% tonight which is what it was before the patch I just have to work harder and pray I had good teammates cuz if you do you can escape no problem if your team is bad good luck getting more than a single gen done. Survivor isn't bad just unforgiving which if any survivors mains think that's the worst thing ever well now you know how killers felt for the longest time. I still think BHVR could do some things to make make the soloQ experience feel better but overall we're on our way to DBD being in a good place.
We need more people like you in these forums. Very factual, proffesional, and respectful. I enjoyed reading your posts and it's very insightful. Thank you.

I’m pretty sure deathgarden died because the hunter in that game had almost nothing good to use and nothing was done about that, but dbd isn’t gonna be that and I know that for a fact cause this happens every other patch
Tracking as hunter was impossible

I would say hex perks are not a normal type pf debuff. Hex perks can have this because it's a specific model on the game (hex totems) but randomly making percentage debuffs on a perk makes no sense
