Going to jump in and say that I can't stand it either. It scrunches everything together way too much, and I hate that it constantly shows the characters I don't have, like the game is trying to get me to buy them constantly. Please, PLEASE revert this.
-
I though the Unknown was maybe abnormally strong until I got my butt handed to me by a good survivor team who made it difficult to keep them infected. Either way, he's one of my favorite to play.
-
Jane for me.
-
I mean, plenty of other killers were inspired by horror icons and serial killers (Trapper & Jason, Billy & Leatherface, Clown & John Wayne Gacy, etc.). I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same case (even if the name "Skull Merchant" still seems odd for her).
-
This complaining is starting to get out of hand. There are plenty of problems in DBD, but the new HUD isn't one of them. It's not the same as comms, and most perks designed around denying survivors information are unaffected.
-
I don't see an issue with the changes at all. It's just made playing survivor a bit better for me, and killer hasn't felt any sweatier than usual. I'm still getting the usual mix of swf groups and solos, and perk variety has been pretty good all around. I'm not sure where the issues are coming from, either.
-
I'd be fine with the perk at least telling survivors that it's active as soon as the gens are finished, like every other exposure effect in the game. That way, the killer still gets their massive boost in strength, but a survivor doesn't have to be completely screwed before they know about it.
-
1.) If the survivors can make me laugh, I'll usually let them live.
2.) If someone DC's too early, I'll sometimes go friendly. Mostly because I gave up on having a fun match.
3.) I'm running Rancor and lulling the obsession into a false sense of security ๐.
-
Trade you.
-
I will continue to side with this. Even if boons are changed to be at risk of being destroyed permanently, you can still boon the other totems, and you're more likely than not to get at least a few fast heals out of it before the killer notices. It would also help with people trying to place boons right next to the killer, which I've seen teammates throw games for. I would be willing to strengthen the boon's effects in exchange.
-
I can't blame them for being more concerned about making a profit over making changes that likely won't make them any money. They are a business, after all, and a fairly small one at that. Would some changes be nice? Sure. But even then, they've made a lot of quality-of-life and requested changes alongside the quarterly chapters. The way I see it, they're trying their best to work things out in a way that still allows them to focus on making content that will turn a profit.
-
This is a fantastic thread.
-
Played on Dead Dawg Saloon, and we had a Mikeala on our team. She booned in some bushes in the Gallows and it got snuffed. No big deal. It got snuffed a second time. No big deal.
Then I got hooked near the boon, and it got snuffed again. The killer stayed near the hook, so I ended up hitting stage 2. So, ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure it's quite obvious that Mikeala made the right decision and... booned the same boon a third time, right near the killer, while I died on the hook because she wasted her time. She literally decided that booning the same boon a third time was more important than my life.
-
I'll probably wait to see what kind of state the chapter is released in. If it's not too bad, I'll probably but the Knight with shards, since I was really gunning for a medieval killer or skin in the game for a while now.
-
I don't think a lack of sex appeal was what hurt Haddie. By that logic, no one would play Dwight, Bill, Mikaela, or Rebecca.
Quite frankly, I have a lot of issue with Pixel Bush's opinions on the "moral qualities" of DbD. This sounds like him trying to stir drama where it's completely unwarranted. With all of the games on the market THIS is the one with too much sex appeal? Most of the characters are covered in dirt or blood, and I recall BHVR modifying a community-made Claudette skin because it was more sexual than they were okay with. If this game has too much sex appeal, then we've gone back to the Puritan days of repression.
-
Nurse's Calling: Every time I use this perk, the survivors bring CoH and Shadow Step or heal outside of its range.
Crowd Control and Huntress's Lullaby: Both are found immediately and destroyed before I can get any value. Only good as Haunted Ground or Pentimento bait.
Bamboozle: 2-window tiles, and 4 or 5 sometimes back-to-back on Suffocation Pit.
Discordance/Tinkerer: 2 notifications simultaneously. One way or another, you're losing a gen.
Pain Res: Usually good, but trash if bad hook placement or, more often, the gen goes off before the hook animation is complete.
-
Toolboxes aren't necessarily everything. While you might take out the first few gens fast, I'd be willing to bet that healing was difficult during this match. Additionally, you might want to look at the guy who brought her to the Game of all maps. Aura reading on a small indoor map with no Shadow Step and no medkits? I think that a lot of killers would have done well here, especially with how much easier the gens are to defend on this map. Additionally, this may just be me, but map offerings tend to tell the killer, "I don't care at all about your enjoyment of this game, and I'm going to make this game as painful as possible for you."
Sorry for your frustration, but I don't think that this was entirely the Nurse's fault.
Edit
Apologies, I thought you were one of the survivors, not the Nurse. You probably already know everything I'm saying.
-
Nurse can make considerable distance is a blink, but Dredge would be able to teleport from anywhere in the map if the lockers weren't blocked. Additionally, he has normal movement speed, whereas the Nurse's primary way of moving is via blinks.
It will likely be some time before any changes are made to the nurse. The devs already have their hands full with the current DLC, and I imagine that they prefer to work on new things for the game in order to keep making money. I get the frustration, but I've seen God knows how many "Nerf/Remove Nurse" posts.
-
I really, really don't care.
-
Ghostface is finally making new friends at school.
-
I would be perfectly fine with increasing Circle of Healing's speed if it meant that it could be snuffed permanently. I would rather that than a slower heal speed and self care that can be set up infinitely.
-
Considering they just got done with a very ambitious chapter, I don't think moris are at the top of their priority list.
-
I tend to play a different killer every match, mostly determined by daily rituals. Lately, Oni has been growing on me.
-
Quite frequently, actually. A lot of the time, though, it's less intentional and more so the result of a bad chase or camping.
-
On the list of priorities for DBD, I don't think skins and moris are at the top.
-
Thanks for the responses, everyone. I think I have a better understanding of the situation, now.
-
Neither. It favors whoever brings the strongest weapons. Addons, high-tier killers, map offerings, etc. Whoever brings the biggest guns largely wins.
-
I'm a big fighting game fan, and so the aspect of continually learning and improving against other players is something I like in both.
-
I only start laughing when the BM gets them killed or they DC at 5 gens.
-
Keeping it real.
-
It took me a very long time to learn how to loop at least somewhat competently, but nerves can often get the better of me. It's definitely not an easy thing to just pick up.
-
Played against Nemesis on Haddonfield; was injured, infected, and dead on hook. When I ran into one of the houses, a zombie hit me from around the corner.
We lost.
-
Very much a love/hate relationship. One game, I get huntress on the swamp and blay the best match of in my career, feeling like I improved greatly. The next, I get huntress on Badham, and I can't do a thing about the two groups on opposite ends of the map.
Love/hate, I'd say.
-
It reminds of when swear words were censored upon Mortal Kombat 11's release. Like, the game had so much gore and brutality that it was banned in multiple countries and traumatizing to the employees, but swearing is where WB drew the line?
-
I have multiple issues with gen speed at the moment. A few reasons why:
1.) Gen times are wildly inconsistent. I understand having things to make a gen go faster, especially if there is a cost or it requires multiple people, but the difference between sped-up times and normal times makes them impossible to predict. You go into one game and 3 gens fly in the first 2 or so minutes. Then you go into another game, and it takes them 4 minutes to complete 2 gens. On the killer side, it can make the speed of the game feel wildly out of your control, left largely up to what the survivors decide to bring. It would be nice if numbers across the board on gen speed increases and gen regressions were toned down to be more consistent.
2.) Prove Thyself & Stake Out / Hyperfocus. I have no issue with these perks being in the game, but I feel that the increases to speed are too large. Maybe others disagree, but these perks have made a significant difference on how fast gens fly, even without toolboxes. Worse, you the killer have no clue that they have these perks until it is too late. Again, maybe just tone these perks down a bit, especially with stake out almost nullifying the risk of hyperfocus.
3.) Regression perks aren't nearly as easy, reliable, or effective as gen speed increases. Toolboxes only require you to bring them. Prove Thyself only requires another teammate. Hyperfocus is made much easier to use with stake out. Meanwhile, every regression perk either requires you to hook someone, kick a generator (which most killers still don't have the time for), or they get disabled automatically. Overcharge and CoB's regression can still be nullified by touching the gen, which I've seen done even mid-chase. Pop is still decent, but it doesn't do as much as it used to for the same time cost of hooking and kicking. Ruin is so useless it gets beat out by Deadlock. Pain res is still decent, but you have to hook someone, hope you have a scourge hook nearby in a decent place, and even then, you don't know which gen was hit.
A lot of people will probably call me entitled, but these are the issues as I see them. Yes, I am grateful that DH was nerfed into the ground. Yes, I am happy for the basekit changes overall. No, I don't think they solved everything, especially with the changes to gen regression perks and the introduction of hyperfocus / stake out.
-
As much as I would like to speculate on the matter, I don't think we'll really know how this will play out until people have had a chance to break it. I don't think that they intend to just drop it into the game as-is, given the whole host of problems that would cause. However, if it prompts the developrs to change the ways that survivors can prevent the killer from picking up, then that might be a nice consequence. If the killer does not have to fear picking someone up, or killers are given a better ability to snowball, it could serve as an interesting alternate win condition for killers while ensuring that survivors are kept from being inactive for 5 minutes.
Now that I think about it, this is a similar system to that of the Evil Dead game, to some extent. There, the survivors have multiple chances to be picked up or resurrected by others if they are downed or killed, and the demon has to incapacitate all 4 in order to win. It becomes a war of attrition as the demon throws everything it has until the team eventually collapses, piece by piece or all at once. It keeps the survivors playing for longer, as they are not out until the game is over.
That's just my 2 cents, though. As it stands, only a few killers have any snowballing potential (especially with a 45-second time window), and forcing pickups can become easily abusable. I am glad that the developers are experimenting with drastic new gameplay changes, but I understand the concern. All I can do is hope.
-
I'm hopeful that, since this is a very fresh idea, they will take the time to iron out the kinks before it ever goes live. If the game is largely overhauled to account for this change, then I'm actually excited for this change.
If not, well, then we're in trouble.

i really don't want to be making a semiserious post in this thread of all threads. but.
you said "[amputation and vore] might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people", but we have some killers doing some nasty stuff in this game both as gameplay mechanics and as moris. in terms of mechanics, plague takes the cake, eats it, then regurgitates it directly onto everyone else's faces. we now have wesker, who fills survivors with worms. pyramid head's cages have an argument here. and then moris? hooh boy. clown and the way he severs different fingers based on your survivor's gender which definitely implies sexual intent. dredge... you know. plague literally vomits into peoples' open mouths. artist forcefeeds you birds which explode out of your stomach. the list goes on.
if this game were shying away from things that were gruesome, i certainly haven't noticed. so i genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do not see why a vore killer would cross the line. a monsterous frog that coats people in digestive juices and when they get too covered they become mori-able like sadako and he just eats them? honestly i'm. i'm not seeing many reasons as to why not.
and. may i just be daring enough to suggest.
if they do add a vore killer it might be first time a killer gets added and people are eager to play survivor.
I would legit become a survivor main if that happened.
-
An FOV change is significant enough to change how easy or hard both sides are to play, similar to how stretched-res gave survivors an enormous advantage. Shadowborn is a perk because giving the FOV increase is an advantage.
-
In some aspects, yes. In others, no.
The DC, suicide on hook issue isn't being exaggerated at all. I've seen plenty of other players with the same problem.
-
I have to dedicate an entire build to making Coulrophobia work, and only on Doctor. This is the first time that I've ever actually had fun with Coul. I'd rather not nerf it if at all possible.
-
Part of the problem with pickrate is that people either a.) aren't willing or able to buy the DLC or b.) just don't want to play certain killers. I play a lot of killers, but I don't particularly like hag or twins.
-
Surprisingly, no. I typically play without add-ons, even on killers like trickster and trapper. It has less to do with improving and more to do with the fact that I have a weird aversion to using once-only items in games.
-
Finally, DbD embraces the true horror...
Hentai
-
Unfortunately, I can't get behind Jeepers Creepers after its creator, Victor Salva, was convicted for child molestation. It's cool if you like the movies, but I personally can't get behind it.
-
Empathy has basically become a mainstay for my survivor builds.

Wasn't mindless before
DH'ing over bear traps or into safe windows and pallets was pretty mindless.

Fun fact, dbd is the first game ever in alot of regards when it comes to it's licenses, such as being
- The first game ever to legally and officially release Hellraiser content for a video game
- The game that officially debuted Pinhead's first appearance in a released video game and also being the first game ever to legally let you play as him.
- The first game ever to have Doug Bradley officially voice Pinhead in a video game
- The first game ever to have official Crypt TV content in a video game
- The first (and currently only) game ever to have both Silent Hill & Resident evil content together in the same game
- The first game ever to let you play as Amanda Young from SAW
- The first multiplayer game ever to let you play as Detective David Tapp
- The first game ever that let's you play as Sadako Yamamura
- The first game ever to let you play as characters like Laurie Strode, Quentin Smith, the Ash version from Ash vs Evil Dead.
- The first game ever to create it's very own original ghostface character that isn't connected to scream or is just an extra costume only and who's lore revolve around the ghostface moniker
- The first multiplayer game ever to legally let you play as Michael Myers in an authentic way
- The first game ever to official license Ringu and also create lore for it that becomes part of it's own canon
I would also have added in the first game ever to legally have the big 4 slasher icons together in the same game, however we're unfortunately not there yet as we're still missing Jason.
Funnily enough, there's an obscure horror-themed fighting game called Terrordrome that released in 2013. It included characters like Jason, Freddy, Myers, Leatherface, Pinhead, Chucky, Ghostface, Candyman, Ash, and some more obscure horror icons like Herbert West from the Reanimator. If you're interested, it might be worth the worth the look.

The whole center of the map is just a line of double vaults. It is horrific. Came out of my worst nightmares. In the MacMillan realm.
Yeah, Bamboozle sucks when they literally have 4 windows to vault through. ๐
