  • Considering how infrequent interesting monsters and killers are in horror movies today, I am constantly amazed at how awesome DBD's original killers are, from their unique designs and traits to their stories. The killers were what got me into this game, and I'll always respect the creative teams at BHVR.

  • As someone who's never seen the show and does not know any of the characters, I like Kate's outfit because it's the closest thing to a medieval outfit in the game.

Sadako. It may sound weird but Ringu was one of my childhood movies and one of my mom's favorites, she had it on a VHS tape and I watched it when she went to work. To this day I don't know where she got the tape (it was translated to my native language, which made it weirder).

Yeah, ######### up thing to grow up with but something about how graceful and clean the movie looked while having a really tense atmosphere completely charmed me, I still remember vividly the first time I watched Sadako give Ryuji a heart attack. It was 2 PM on winter vacation, I had just returned from the kitchen after preparing some chocolate milk for myself thinking the movie was practically over after Reiko "saved" Sadako, just to return and see Sadako slowly walking out of the TV. I was probably just as paralyzed as Ryuji was in that moment, it kept me awake for a couple of nights but in a good way, like I couldn't fathom how awesome that ending was.

When she came to DBD I was excited but feared that they would butcher her power or appearance but to my surprise she felt on point, for the most part (I wish they did more with the tapes).

    Name checks out.

  • Myers...where do I start.

Tier 3, for as long as it takes to get there, gives you maybe one down at best. It's a miracle if you can get more than that before time runs out.

Tier 1 is absolute garbage. It might be useful if the lunge range wasn't so abysmal. I can't really call Myers a stealth killer when your best strategy involves getting rid of your stealth for the entire round ASAP.

Tier 2, where you'll spend most of the game, is just basic M1 without much else. If you want Tier 3, you have to deliberately slow yourself down and lose chase, potentially missing out on hits and downs.

Ghostface and Oni do everything Myers does but better.

  • They're more concerned at the moment with making sure the next chapter goes live without too many problems. If they do look into balance issues, it will likely be in a mid-chapter patch, like the last one.

    This is true.

Somehow, I don't think The World would translate well.

But it would still be cool to hear him say, "Za Warudo! Toki wo tomare!"

Part 1 Dio Brando could still work well. Phantom Blood already carried a lot of gothic horror themes in it, and his appearance would be more in-line with DBD.

    Just imagining, though.

  • This is similar to my thoughts on tunneling. Most killers tunnel because it is the most efficient strategy to win (and it's easier than chasing 4 different people). If that were to change, then tunneling would either happen less frequently or become weak enough of a strategy that it doesn't matter.

However, simply nerfing the effectiveness of something tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths, and at the moment, going for 8 hooks on everyone just isn't a viable enough strategy to leave unchanged. So, if you were to incentivize leaving the hook and going for 8 hooks on all 4 survivors while de-incentivizing camping and tunneling, then I think it would help shift the game in a healthier direction.

The problem is figuring out how to go about this.

  • I actually agree with this, and quite a few others have pointed it out. It would be nice if the lobby wasn't so damn hard to read now, too.

  • The only Killer I can really call a main is Myers. He is one of the most straightforward killers in the game, so I can play him when I just want to focus on fundamentals, and Halloween is one of my favorite slasher movies. I have the most time on Myers, and he was the first DLC I got. Overall, though, I play a lot of different killers and tend to rotate between them often. I can't play the same killer for too long.

  • Hook sabotages make this so much worse, especially with boil over.

    Definitely DIO from JoJo.

survivor definitely needs to be SpeeeedwaGONnnn

You know, we haven't had a vampire yet...

Come to think of it, Kira and Killer Queen would be interesting too. He is a serial killer, after all, and having a killer with explosion abilities sounds awesome.

It is easy as hell when the survivors are bad, absolutely. When survivors put up a fight though, it reminds me of when you are first getting into a fighting game and get zero to death'd in the corner after like 2 missed blocks. Only in that case, I can say, "should have blocked better."

Me, currently trying to learn Blazblue: Central Fiction. I love the game, but man am I glad that it isn't my first.

  • This is one thing I like a bit better about the Evil Dead game. All 4 survivors have to get knocked down at the same time to lose, and they have a window to be picked up after being downed. Likewise, the demon is rewarded for doing practically anything, from collecting energy to placing traps to injuring survivors. Everything the demon does contributes to them getting stronger. While some games can still feel hopeless, it is very rare that a game is out of your control (RNG can make this happen, though).

I can't really say that the two games are comparable, but this is one of the reasons I'm having more fun with Evil Dead at the moment.

  • It's still bad, but I'm not quite certain I'd say it's worse than before.

  • I'll admit, I haven't been having hardly any fun with the game this past week. I can't quite put my finger on why, and I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly is bothering me. A lot of the time it feels like I lose 3 gens before my first down, with nothing I could do to prevent it. Other times it feels like I can never down or commit to anyone because they run to far corners of the map or force me to chase forever. It just feels like I'm losing control of everything, and it's stressful without being worthwhile. I hate to be like this, and I'm not blaming anyone or claiming that I know what's wrong with the game. I'm just not having fun anymore.

  • I remember they asked in a survey if people would be interested in Hooked on You cosmetics in DBD. I absolutely said yes.

  • People are going to hate me for this, but...

I love the Nurse the way she is. Her add-ons can definitely be toned down, and maybe the way she accesses her power or its cooldown can be tweaked, but I don't want her to be reworked from the ground up. Letting her go through obstacles lets her play the game in a completely different way, and it forces the survivors to find unconventional strategies for dealing with her. I don't think that aspect of her gameplay is overpowered.

  • I hate to say this, but I'm pretty sure that this was a joke to begin with. A $10 joke, sure, but at least it's not as expensive as Getting Over It.

  • I've been playing less, but more so out of burnout after playing quite frequently for the past two months. I'm playing more of the Evil Dead game and Fallout 4 at the moment.

  • I have two.

The first was on the Rotton Fields against a wraith. Me and another survivor went to rescue someone from the basement, and as we were coming out, our 4th teammate set off Haunted Ground. All three of us died right then and there. Coincidentally, I was working on that totem earlier and would have gotten it out of the way sooner had that same teammate not led the killer right to me.

The second was on the Game while I was playing Huntress. I had downed a David w/ No Mither right above a small hole. I didn't see him and ended up falling down trying to look for him, when he was just barely on the top floor the entire time. The kicker? When I realized that he'd picked himself up, I reloaded my hatchets and rounded the corner with a hatchet ready. He was still there, so I just downed him again. It was almost a good play...

So maybe instead of nerf all perks to the ground buff all perks to the meta, which technically wouldn't make them meta cause they all just as good

Roughly speaking, yes. My only concern, in this case, would be finding a good baseline that doesn't make the game feel insane. The fighting game philosophy might not translate well into an asymmetrical game, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

adapt and move on, bro. there are so many other perks. This is just killer entitlement that I'm hearing. If you start losing matches because of this it just means you were boosted and you had an inflated MMR.

See, again all the same arguments survivors got to hear for the last two weeks!

I don't use Thana. The point isn't that I have some infatuation with this perk, I would just like perks that don't have much use (Dying Light, Smash Hit, Mettle of Man, No Mither, etc.) to have some. I like their idea to encourage targeting multiple people, but 2% slowdown just isn't worth it, and the 12% is largely unobtainable. I hardly ever use Thana because I prefer other perks, but that doesn't mean I want it to be useless.

Hell, the buff they gave Coulrophobia, a perk that was largely useless until now, has been fun as hell w/ Doctor. I don't want every perk to be amazing, just useful in some way. Please, don't misconstrue what I'm saying.

  • @aarontendo said:

Just learn to adapt and stop crutching one perk. It's literally what killer mains said for DH all week.

I don't want it to be a crutch, I just want it to actually do something useful in a feasible manner. Keeping all 4 survivors injured for more than a few seconds, even with Legion, is a pipe dream, and 2% slowdown doesn't seem worth the perk slot.

  • I don't see anyone using Thana after this. 2% slowdown just doesn't seem worth the perk slot, even on Legion.

Even worse, this is pretty much the nail in the coffin for Pain Resonance getting its information aspects back.

    DMS is even worse now.

But nah, the devs are clearly biased towards killers 🙄

  • Still somehow better than Dying Light 😑

  • This is actually a topic that comes up often in fighting games. Is it better to nerf characters and mechanics or buff them?

After a while, the FGC has largely concluded that it is better to try and buff weak aspects of the game to be on par with the stronger aspects, rather than nerf strong aspects to be on par with weak ones. The reason why is largely down to which option feels more interesting or fun to play. When you buff more than you nerf, you tend to get bombastic games like Dragon Ball Fighterz and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Conversely, nerfing more than buffing can lead to more stale experiences, like with Street Fighter 5 and Mortal Kombat 11.

It's worth noting that this is not a hard rule, and buffing can absolutely be taken too far. The general idea is to have a relatively moderate or high base level and try to center aspects of the game's balance around that (Tekken 7 is a great example; almost every character is good, none are considered non-viable). If that baseline is too low, things don't feel impactful or satisfying. It may be balanced, but it's no longer fun.

  • This would end up with people being held hostage.

  • Playing Dredge on RPD isn't too fun either. The lockers are never where you want them to be, or they're facing in ways that make you take roundabout paths.

  • F. Definitely F. Who wouldn't want to be friends with Ash, Jeff, Bill, and Lisa?

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

Spirit Fury + Enduring with both iri's. Nobody expects the Huntress to just eat pallets. If you need pressure, just hatchet 'em once or twice and you're good to go.

I gotta try this out. I already use these perks on Myers, and it's hilarious when survivors just watch you shrug off their stun.

  • I'm glad to see that people are actually using Coulrophobia now.

  • DH had the pick rate it did for a reason. There were innumerable situations where survivors could use DH to get to a pallet or window without the killer having any way to stop it, extending chases by a considerable amount. DH also countered a lot of killer powers in ways that didn't make any sense, particularly with the Trapper's bear traps. On top of that, it was on demand, whereas other exhaustion perks had significant tradeoffs. Why use Smash Hit, which might get you killed or becomes useless when pallets are all dropped, when you could use DH on demand and stay in the loop? I'm glad it's been reworked.

  • Funnily enough, I actually hate Midwich as Nurse. I always end up teleporting to the wrong floor or running into some ledge that I can't teleport to. This is just my own experience, though; I know I'm in the minority.

  • I've been running an anti-healing build on Doctor, including Nurse's Calling, Distressing or Septic Touch, Coulrophobia, and Unnerving Presence. This was largely inspired by the Otzdarva video where he demonstrated what Coul + UP on Doctor could do. If not devilishly cruel, I've found that it can actually work surprisingly well. Since Doctor does not have much lethality and can struggle to secure a down, keeping everyone injured for significantly longer has actually helped counteract this to some degree. Either way, I just think it's too cruel and hilarious to pass up.

  • I'll be largely commenting on the update itself and not the player attitude that resulted from it.

I have enjoyed a lot of things about the update itself. On the killer side, not having to worry about DH and DS at the endgame is a Godsend. I would not agree that killer is too easy in general, more so that survivors that aren't terribly experienced or want to play the game casually (so largely solo queue) are having difficulty. SWF groups or really coordinated survivors are still kicking my ass from time to time, but I'll take that any day over 4 DHs.

On the survivor side, I'll agree that survivor has gotten more difficult, but I don't see this as a problem. Personally, I went from largely sitting on gens the whole game to having to balance this with good chases and clutch heals/saves. My skills as a survivor have improved as a result, and I enjoy that aspect of improving in order to succeed. And trust me, I ended up playing way more survivor than usual when the killer queue times spiked.

Regarding the perk changes, I agree with most of them, but with a few exceptions. Several perks were hit too hard, including Self-care, DS, Botany, Ruin, Pain Resonance. Some I think weren't hit hard enough, particularly NOED, or went a little far (Thana). The others I'm largely happy about. I've always liked Deja Vu, and now the increase repair speed encourages taking out the 3 gen early. Dark devotion will be fun to play around with now that it works with all killers.

I'm not terribly thrilled about the prestige system. On one hand, I now have more perks on my characters, and the system of unlocking new perks for other characters is much more consistent. On the other hand, it will take significantly longer to actually level them up.

Those are my thoughts in a nutshell. Overall, I'm quite happy, but none of this really matters when my teammates keep disconnecting.

  • I'm a Myers main, and even I'd prefer if his tombstone addons didn't insta-kill survivors.

They are apparently coming out with a new one. That being said, I am not sure I want Lady Gaga in DBD. LeBron in Multiversus is enough for me.

So I'm not alone in this sentiment.

  • Could you imagine Blighted Dredge? *Shiver*

  • I've had games were people DC'd against an addon-less Myers and Ghostface, with multiple gens done and few people hooked. How is that justified?

  • The only way that I'll ever buy Freddy for this game is if they make Robert Englund the default (even better if voice acting is included).

  • This map is simply a pain in the butt for most killers, so it's usually brought to put them at a disadvantage. Also, the balconies can be used to cheese wiggle escapes w/ Boil Over (maybe combined with Flip-Flop for insurance).

  • I'm Gen Z, and the killers like Myers, Freddy, and Leatherface are right up my alley. I love the classics!

  • I can't speak for other streamers, but the problems Otzdarva had with playing solo queue largely revolved around the fact that his teammates were constantly giving up, killing themselves on the hook, or DC-ing. As for the devs, I imagine that they want to collect data on the update and get a large amount of feedback before they commit to any public statements that might rub the community the wrong way.

DS and NOED don't make the end-game more interesting, and trust me, chases can still last quite a while. If you're upset the the killer is eventually catching you, stealth options like Quick and Quiet or Distortion might help.

I'm very quickly losing my patience with the "DBD is dead!" bandwagon. Yes, some changes were unnecessary, and some were bad, but they weren't nearly enough to make the game impossible for solo queue. Give it time, and things will likely be sorted out.

  • I might have been more sympathetic if people weren't ridiculing killers for saying the same things because of DH and CoH. Now that the script's reversed, it's suddenly completely valid for survivors to quit and DC when they aren't happy. If that's the way you want to be, then fine, but don't be surprised when the other side says the same thing when things aren't in their favor. I'm quickly running out of patience.

  • Not having to deal with DH and DS at the endgame are enough for me.

  • I played two solo q games yesterday where people DC'd on their first down, with 1 or more gens already done and few people hooked. The kicker? The killers were an addon-less Myers and Ghostface, running fairly basic perks (Thrilling Tremors, I'm All Ears, BBQ, etc.). No Nurse, no Thana Legion, just the weakest killer in the game with no addons. We lost the match shortly afterwards.

  • Most Wraiths I come across don't camp, and with Kindred becoming more common, it doesn't really help them.

  • @Keyfabe said:

Hi Guys , after the last update got to be honest the game really aren't fun anymore for survivors every game feels like "World Champ" and the sweat that you need to pull ( only with a swif otherwise you don't have a chance to escape) either one of the surv are gets tunneled because of DS nerf or disconnections.

will like to hear you thoughts.

If Omega blink Nurse and Circle of Healing did not kill this game, I don't think this update will. I'm fairly confident that the devs have more plans for the future, so things will change. This was the first time in a while it that it felt like they were actually listening, and I'm hopeful that they will continue to do so.
