The game's not going to die because people on the internet are being mean to some sensitive kids. Honestly the state of this community is more exaggerated than it is toxic. If someone uses actual offensive language you can report them because the admins see chat logs, and if they don't then you don't have any reason to be mad.
People have been complaining forever that survivor side queues take a long time to find a match. Why do you think that is?
It's not all toxic people being asshats but I imagine that plenty of killers (especially new killers) just flat out quit the game because they didn't have a fun game and now some clown is being a complete ######### about it.
So yeah, kill the game might be a bit of a hyperbole but I feel like my ultimate point still stands.
-
It does absolutely suck. People just being completely asshats to each other has caused me to want to quit the game far more often than DS/Unbreakable combos or Face Camping Killers
Luckily, I'm on Xbox so generally I only have to deal with people being asshats every so often (as it is just a pain in the butt to send messages to one another since you're typing a message on a Xbox Controller and you have to specifically find and send me a message, it's not a chat board that they can just throw comments into).
These clowns either don't realize or don't care that they're going to be the ones that kill the game when they drive people away because they're acting like fools.
-
Bah, I can save them!!!
LEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYY JEEEEEEEEEEEENKIIIIIIIII
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! -
If i get stuck again, that video at least has a specific thing you can try to do rather than hope for luck.
Although it does sound like you still need a bunch of luck to get his trick to work but walking towards the hill ramp and wiggling at least gives you specific something to do rather than just wiggling around and praying

Guys... this has inadvertently revealed the next killer... it is "THE HILL" !!!!!! watch out it'll stick to you like flypaper!!!!

As killer i got out when hitting the hill/stone burning only got stuck once.
as survivor I was stuck several times, one time got out while changing rapidly between crouching/walking/sprinting and changing directions. Didn’t work always though.
Yeah, I tried bouncing up and down like I was a kid who had sugar for breakfast and just downed a 12 pack of Mountain Dew but I never was able to wiggle myself out of the mess I was in. I was able to shift slightly sideways so I moved about two steps before getting stuck again so...progress? :D

@Fiv55 said:
Dunno about the hill currently (havent really played a lot recently and did not experience this bug yet), but previously I got out of these spots by dropping & picking up an item multiple times. Ofc it works only if you have an item, but thats how I got out being stuck in other survivors in the past (if there wasnt enough space and picked him/her up from the ground).
That's a neat trick I might have to try next time
I ended up getting out because the killer downed me and let me wiggle free. They also ultimately just let me go at the end as they didn't find me until about 3/4 through the match so if you're out there reading this Huntress Killer (my user name here is damn similar to my Xbox Tag), I appreciate that.
-
No but it's not like we could stop you anyway
I've had great games as killers on those maps. I've also had awful games. Maps might give a little advantage to one side or the other (or even advantages or disadvantages specifically depending on your killer) but I'd rather just roll with the punches and give it a try.
-
(Console) War. (Console) War never changes.
-
Like others have said, I see myself as a sporting killer rather than being nice.
I don't tunnel or camp. If I run into someone who I just hooked (either from a bad save or just unlucky), I'll generally slug them (so they get a penalty but not a death sentence).
If I don't need the 4k (like I'm going for an Adept), I'll have no issue letting someone go if they had a well played match with good sportsmanship. Or if it's clear they're a new player, I am much more likely to be merciful and let them go. They need the points a lot more than I do.
It's kind of baffling that someone would complain about this, let alone call it to be a bannable offense. If you don't want the charity or whatever, then stand there and let the EGC take you or point at the hook and I'll stick you onto it if you insist. This game can be toxic as hell so if I get the chance to "reward" someone not playing like a toxic asshat and I have the desire or the wiggle room to reward them for it, I'm damn sure going to take it. Hopefully they can pass it on and make the game just a little bit better
-
I have also really liked the crossplay so far. I get into games virtually instantly now! Speed was generally pretty good for Xbox but now it's basically CLICK READY, ENTER LOBBY

That "unique" code, isn't unique to YOU. That's what made it difficult, and because of that code, no one could find me for a while.
Huh...
What's the point then of even having a "Friend Code" in game then? I would think the entire point of having a specific friend code for you is...well...it's specific to you :D
-
There is also an "Add a Friend" that is in-game. It gives you a unique 4 digit ID that you can use to add one another

For Killers yes, for survivors it's the double crouch or the offering up of your item. Since bloodpoints are the life and blood of DBD, I'm always up for a good farm!
...is that why survivors sometimes just stand there and put their item on the ground?
I'm never going to farm so that sucks to be you survivor if that's supposed to be the "Let's Farm" sign but that would actually finally explain why survivors do that sometimes.
-
I had been doing them while MMR was giving me baby survivors to deal with but now that they disabled MMR, I might have to stop trying again. Red Ranks are just too good as you need survivors to be pretty bad to get Merciless Killer. You need to hope none of them leave the game. You need to hope that they don't get gens done too quickly. You need to hope the last guy doesn't find the God damn hatch (the bane of my existence these last few weeks as I've been working on Adept).
I breezed through the survivor Adepts because they don't need to play perfectly to get the achievement. You basically need to play perfectly as the Killer AND have a huge handicap as some of the killers have downright useless perks...
-
Considering how many multi-player only games die within a year, I'd say BHVR has a hell of a lot to be proud of with this game. I'd be ecstatic if a game like DBD was my creation.
-
I've always used Self Care, though ironically enough I am right now experimenting with not using it. I basically carry a gray medkit but don't actually use it unless absolutely necessary and using Bond to find teammates instead. As a solo player, it was just as common as not that I'd find someone to help me and they'd just sit there and stare at me like I was the idiot expecting a heal.
If my old experience stays true (it's a 50/50 gamble that the team will actually heal me), I'll be putting it back on. I'd rather not use self care if I don't have to but if I can't count on people helping me when I need it, then I'm putting it back on.
-
Yeah and you basically have to have Kindred on if you want to be quasi-useful in solo so you get to see how potatoey your team is constantly :(
-
I generally will smack one and chase for a bit. If it's clear that I can't end the chase very quickly (or if I haven't even gotten one hit on them if they just stand far away and run whenever the terror radius gets anywhere near them), I'll break it off and go back to patrolling. I don't want to sit here and camp the 3 gens forever but I'm also not going to just let the survivors play me like a fiddle when you have that moron standing 40 yards away T-bagging wondering why he can't get me to chase him.

This isn't directly against the rules per their Forum Rules but it wouldn't shock me to see them step in and kind of quietly taper it down anyway because it's super annoying...
-
It's the case for both sides; if you go too quickly, you get very low BP. Quick games where you just focus on completing your objective as fast as possible generally sacrifice you doing all the "side" stuff needed to really max out points.
If I think the game has gone too fast, I'll generally take my foot off the gas (so do totems, get myself chased, give the survivors a free breather to heal and reset, etc) just because the game is a lot more enjoyable to me if I'm not just curb stomping the h out of my opponent(s).
-
I've been playing it on Xbox (so for at least a few weeks of it being "official" and it sounds like MMR has been tracking before they even implemented it so probably at least a month); it was a hot mess
I've talked about it before, I basically just started going after Adept Achievements with MMR being in play because I would constantly get put in with baby killers/survivors (I'm a Red Rank 1 in both) so I never wanted to risk using good items and offerings for the few games when it actually seemed to be working. I would guess that 80% of my games were against baby ranks and that might be me being generous if I'm being completely honest...
By going Adept Hunting, I was at least somewhat leveling the playing field for my opponents and giving myself an artificial challenge but this is only going to stay fun for so long.
-
I am so very lucky based on the horror stories I read on here.
My first attempt at it, I absolutely slaughter the team (some moron on their team thought having a starring contest and T-Bagging Myers was a good idea; at least it was a good idea until I hit T3 and sliced him open like a Cantaloupe). Took down three of the four with relative ease. Found the Hatch before the Fourth guy did and then found him.
Unfortunately for me, I had never actually used Tombstone until this match. I lunged to hit them, expecting to do the grab but nope! Dropped them then and there. I picked them up and down until they wiggled free but my meter was running danger low at this point. The survivor stood there. Didn't run, didn't hide, didn't do anything. They took pity on this poor Myers and let me finish them off for the achievement.
I messaged them afterwards (Xbox) profusely thanking them for what they did but they never responded back. If you're out there [Name Redacted], I salute you.
-
I have a feeling that people will be sorely disappointed in how often it's just four solos who ran circles around them
People act like you HAVE to have mics to coordinate but if you get a group of Red Ranked Survivors who know what they're doing together, I would imagine it would be damn near indistinguishable from a SWF Crew.
EDIT: Just to make it clear since I've had a few quotes, I have no issues with this change being made. I'm just saying that a lot of the "4 Man SWF are ruining the game cause they keep smoking me" would be very disappointed in many of the results :D

The problem with Demo stuff is his two perks (Mind Breaker and Cruel Limits) are both so situational that they essentially border on useless. Cruel Limits requires a generator being done and gives you 30 seconds of a much easier chase but that means it can only be used up to five times (assuming you're even in the position to make use of it) so at the very best case scenario, you get an easy hit on one person one time when your very objective is being failed (stopping the gen from being fixed).
Mindbreaker feels like a perk for a stealth killer but they slapped it on Demo instead. Like...how often as a Demo are you going to be able to get close enough to hit someone coming right off the perk that the exhaustion will still be in play by the time you get there (the max is what, five seconds? The survivor usually has longer than that to hear you coming with your TR. Even using the Upside Down World gives the survivor warnings of your incoming arrival).
Surge is the same thing, it feels like a M1 killer perk that was slapped onto The Demo instead. While yeah, I suppose he is kind of a M1 killer (Shred still only does one damage state), Shred is the only thing Demo has going for him and Shred makes Surge useless...
Basically it feels like his perks were designed with different killers in mind but they slapped them on Demo just to get them in the game and left him high and dry for his own perks.
EDIT: Also, apologies if you touch on all of this in your post. I read it pre-paragraphs so I ended up skimming a lot of it and now I have to go to work...
-
Demo might not be evil in the dictionary definition of the word but I'm not sure how much comfort that's going to be to you when you get sacrificed to The Entity :D

So that means SWF ARE an ISSUE that NEEDS to be addressed.
It's not fair to put people against groups that can do what normal survivors cannot without these people even knowing that.
Yes, it is an issue...only when you go against the 15% of SWAT TEAM SWF groups
The primary issue here is there are two kinds of SWF groups
- The group of friends who want to play together
- The SWAT Team
Group 1 is great to play with. They're fun; they get to have a good time with their friends while I as the killer get to go through my normal Killer Duties and stab people
Group 2 is the problem. While this may be anecdotal evidence, I have found that the SWAT Team is usually not only damn impossible to beat since they are in constant communication with each other but they're always the biggest toxic ######### to play again. If there is a cheap tactic, they'll use it and if they get any chance at all to mock the killer, they will 1000% take it.
The problem is that I don't know how you could solve Group 2 without directly hurting Group 1. What you are currently asking for would downright kill SWF because of a much smaller group of God Mode SWF teams as no killer would risk going up against Group 1 if they had the choice. My guess is BHVR currently isn't doing anything against SWF because there's no decent way to balance out nerfing SWAT SWF that wouldn't also directly hammer (and possibly kill) the casual SWF teams so BHVR just kind of lets it go and to be blunt, I would kind of have to agree.
While it sucks to get stuck with SWAT SWF, the sheer design of the game for survivors can mean that people who are just stupid amounts of efficient will always be able to steam roll over Killers. There's nothing you can really do to design that out of the game because if you adjust the objectives, "normal" players are going to have no chance. If you adjust the SWF part, "normal" SWFs who just want to play with their buddies for a few hours are going to have no chance.
-
Because killers are going to dodge them
I'm of the mind that while SWAT TEAM SWF exists, they are not nearly as prevalent as people believe they are (to put a number down, let's call it 15%).
So while 15% of SWFs are God mode jerks, 85% of SWFs are friends who just want to play together. BUT if you're a killer and you see 4 SWF group, why would you even gamble on getting stuck with the jerk SWAT SWF team? Now any SWF team, regardless of actual skill, is getting lobby dodged constantly and they quit, killing a large chunk of your playerbase and possibly killing your entire game as enough people quit.
-
I mean...if they had a three minute chase all by themselves, there shouldn't be much of an endgame left to worry about.
-
I do wish they'd add even just a second of having to repair for the regression to stop.
Generally, it's not all that big of a deal but when a survivor (usually two of them as I suspect they're SWF, though it's not impossible it's two solos just in sync with tactics) is good at the gen tap loop, it makes it downright impossible to stop a gen from being done.

None of those things you mention are abuse. They arent cheating. They are just there. You can claim its annoying yes. And if someone body blocks with BT and you choose to tunnel that person down, so be it.
I throw games when OoO is involved. If i tunnel out the OoO user am i abusing the info given ti me? Not at all. Im removing the biggest threat to my game.
Fair enough then
It's just amazing to me how many survivors will body block with BT and then get pissy when I then decide to go after them. If you're of the mind that everything is fair, I can at least respect the consistency.
-
Is facecamping camping abuse? Is tunneling abuse? Slugging for 4K abuse?
There are a lot of things in the game that, while you could argue isn't abuse in the technical terms, most at least agree are unsporting. You are certainly allowed to body block when you have BT activated but then don't come whining when I now "abuse" tunneling because you "abused" BT...
-
Don't Kink Shame me
-
I have found that Tombstone is OP because the survivors let it be OP.
I swear some survivors are seeking out death with Myers. It's amazing how many will just stand there doing a damn staring contest against Myers.
Hell, I just got the Evil Incarnate achievement (kill all four survivors by your hand) because some stupid braindead survivor sat there and TBAGGED me while I stared at him. I literally sat there watching him Tbag me for a good minute straight...
The crappy part for me as a survivor is I can do everything right but it just takes one dumb survivor to ruin it for everyone.
-
Is it a big deal? It's incredibly rare that I ever see someone running Save the Best for Last. I don't have it on any of my killer builds either...
-
It's all kinds of broken right now
I've been doing nothing but going for Adept Achievements all weekend. I've gotten a whole bunch of them so far as I figure now is going to be the best time I'll ever have to get some of these achievements.
I do hope it gets fixed soon though because I can only entertain myself this way for so long...

- The first and best tip i can give you is not to use your first blink to blink directly on top of them but rather 2-3 meters next to them. Use your second blink to get the hit.
- If you loose LOS (which is the only defence survivior kinda have against Nurse) blink to the position where you lost LOS. Use your second blink then for the hit.
- Practice Practice Practice
The issue I have with that is that I just am not quick enough on the second blink to find the survivor since she goes into stutter mode in about half a second :D
But like you said, maybe that's just a practice thing. I'll give it a try at the very least!

A deal with The Devil eh...
That does seem like the best route!

That actually happened with me getting the damn Clown adept :D It took me three tries to kill all four people but not kill them so fast that I didn't get the points needed...

I'm just going for Adept Achievements at the moment. Everyone I face is either baby faced survivors who have never played the game before or Red God's who are the best of the best of the best of the best.
It's all kinds of broken right now. I really hope BHVR figures this out (and quick) because this sucks :(

Yeah, I've found all my matches are with cupcakes or with Level 1 Gods. So I figure now is the time to do this. If I get cupcakes, I can get my achievement hopefully. If I get a God, I won't have used up anything really nice item/offering wise since I don't want to lose out on good stuff playing a handicapped build :D

@slunder said:
@tippy2k2 I understand that 3-4 man swf can be hellish and unbalanced, but the opposite exists: if you are a solo queue survivor and the game is balanced around top players, you will be matched with noobs and so, you will lose. Solo queue is filled with crap teammates, which gives a chance to the killer. Even if you are a 2 man swf, you still have 2 random teammates that can suck.
I am aware of that (my 25% is strictly solo as I don't know anyone who plays this game besides myself).
But this is a thread about Killers, not Survivors so I didn't really post about how bad being a survivor can be at times...
-
I mean...yes? Was there a reason you couldn't leave before? Did BHVR have some kind of Reverse Beartrap on your head that was going to go off if you quit playing before MMR? Are you in distress? Do you need help? Blink if BHVR is listening in and you need help...
-
Speaking as a killer main (probably about 75/25 at this point; I think I've embraced that I'm a Killer Main now, though I do not play it exclusively), the game can get incredibly frustrating at the higher levels. I've always been of the mind that if you somehow got four survivors and one killer all of completely even and equal skill, survivors would come out on top way more often.
There's just not a lot of wiggle room for high ranking mistakes in the game and survivors who know what they're doing can be INSANELY efficient. All you can do as a killer is realize this and just try to relax. I know that's harder than it sounds (especially if you get the group of ######### survivors doing every trick to make the game damn miserable) but that's the life we chose when we picked up The Blade...
-
Like many have stated, it is a defensive perk that is being used as an aggressive attack. This is annoying but not insurmountable during normal play (though I do L the F O L when I get the "Why'd you tunnel bro?!?!!?" messages when I decide to go after the BT Body Blocker instead of the unhooker) but in EGC, it's an invincibility perk that literally has zero defense against it.
Is it the worst perk in the world when it comes to abuses? No. But that doesn't make the times when it is abused incredibly annoying for you as the killer.
-
I do seem to get stuck with a lot more potatoes lately since the MMR system was introduced. I'm really kind of hoping it'll even itself out again at a certain point but right now, it's downright brutal at times to play solo (especially when I get messages from said potatoes complaining about how bad we were for daring to not come save them when they got caught in the basement during EGC with a one shot killer who was camping said basement. Brah, you're a lost cause at that point, I'm not feeding the killer free kills because you were dumb enough to get yourself caught down there during EGC...).
