Ideal outcome is 2 dead 2 escaped, as mentioned on stream a whole bunch of times. You don't want the game to be balanced just around feedback. Most people only play one side and so their feedback is super biased. I have seen some ridiculous suggestions that would be blatantly OP or unfun, and their creators stood by them stone faced a totally serious about them. Feedback is great for showing you where an issue is, but not necessarily how to fix it. If you listen solely to feedback, you're going to have a bad time.
DC bans have actually just been massively increased. You may have noticed a bunch of posts about it. They start at a week now.
Camping while no other survivors are near the hook will soon penalize your rank. This will (hopefully) mean that killers that camp with no reason stay in the low ranks while killers who only camp when it's necessary rank up to the high ranks. The emblem system as a whole is always being looked at and tweaked.
Hatch I would say is a matter of perspective. I don't mean to say that it couldn't be better, but if I already killed three, I couldn't care less if one person gets out. I already won. The suggestion I keep seeing about just letting the killer close the hatch is not a good idea since that would just force the survivor into a stalemate in which they hide around the map for half an hour because the second they touch a generator the killer will know exactly where they are.
"Killers are deliberately designed to be weak." is just straight up untrue. Not all killers may be crazy powerful when they launch, but they are absolutely not designed to be weak.
I'm okay with hexes. I think individual perks could be better, and some of the totem spots could be moved. But as a whole, I have no issue with the hex system.
The stun queue was an unintended consequence of a different change and was quickly reverted. I don't see a reason to bring that up now.
Wall of answers.
They said during a dev stream that "Not all killers are meant to be viable at high ranks". That can be interpreted as "designed to be weak"
You don't think that this is a huge issue by itself? No sane developer using a ranked mode would create something that was intentionally not meant to be used in the higher ranks.
The fact that they intentionally designed some killers to only be played in the lower ranks shows that on the gaming design side of things, they have not a single clue what's going on.
I've said it before but the devs need to play DbD as part of their job, primarily the killer side.
-
Having almost 700 hours, I have barely encounter any lagswitchers.
I have, however, encountered PLENTY of survivors who DC the second they get caught, the second they get hooked, the second their DS miss, the second they realize that they might lose their flashlight..
I've also met killers who DC if they bump into a wall with Leatherface's chainsaw, when they get slammed with a pallet, if a chase take longer than 30 seconds, they get DS'd..Punishment for DC'ing needs to happen.

You clearly never played Killer in 2016, or 2017.
So many new players think they’re better than they actually are. They play against better people and immediately think it’s the games fault. Gamers today in a nutshell.
I have 500+ hours in game, wdym “new player”? I’m currently sitting at rank seven as killer, and I got to rank one as Amanda last season, I’m not a new killer and I wasn’t saying it wasn’t harder back then, what I was saying is that the game can’t ever be balanced because the killer is supposed to be stronger than the survivors unless they work together.
The killer is stronger , the problem is people refuse to change play style or perk builds to accommodate what they need , they think they should be able to play how they want and not change a thing and still win every single time
Translation: killers only need to equip hangman's + iron grip + agitation to counter sabotage, lightborn and Franklin's for Flashlights, ruin + pop goes the weasel + overcharge against gen rush, enduring + brutal Strength + bamboozle to counter looping, and we haven't even started on the perks required to counter actual survivor perks...
Game has never been easier for both sides.
But survivors hold still the advantage, when the killer should be stronger. The main problem of the imbalance is SWF. The game was never intended for it. It brings too much power to the survivors.

Oh the good old event for killers. "run these 3-4 specific perks just to get people into event hooks" while still trying to maintain pressure on survivors with literally 0 perks that help on chase or finding the survivors.Oh yes amazing how most killers had no issues during the BBQ event while running their normal perks.
I heard some minor noise in the beginning of the event when SWF squads thought it'd be hilarious to sabotage everything but I guess they stopped when they realized that they didn't get much bloodpoints themselves wasting so much time sabotaging..

and regarding youtube. I can create a compilation of me throwing a coin and the only sides that show are head, even 20 times in a row. Does that mean that head is the "OP" side?
Yep. That's way the so-called Tournament actually exposed so much.
True and it will probably never happen again

Never say never. The developers want DbD to become an Esport.
-
Actually banning chronic DC'ers who improve the game a lot, in my opinion. Personally I feel a "ramping-up" style punishment would be better than banning them outright.
-
If the majority is SWF players, then the game needs to be balanced around SWFs. And this doesn't mean providing solo survivors with the same knowledge as SWFs (because that'd make SWFs even stronger) but rather power up the Power role's influence on the playing field.

@SenzuDuck said: Yes, this game is for casuals, it always has been. If you want something competitive go play league or overwatch.
I'm going to have to assume you don't play Overwatch. I did. From launch day until three weeks ago. It was basically all I played, except for dabbling a little bit on the side with Heroes of the Storm and Paladins.
Using "Overwatch" and "Competitive" in the same sentence is a joke. Competitive has been busted for almost six or seven seasons now, and Blizzard has done zip to address it. It is filled with leavers, trolls, and smurfs. Even at the high ranks, you barely get voice comm coordination, and people are playing whatever they want, to hell with team comp.
You want a casual game that people tried to claim was a competitive game? Overwatch tops the list, right behind DBD.
Yea i don't play it to be honest, there are still plethoras of actual competitive games they could play.
With moris, bnps, DS, noed this game was clearly never meant to be competitive.Oh, I agreed with what you meant. I just had to chime in on the Overwatch part, was all.

Oh yea i understood that I just didn't wanna say "yeh i don't play it lul"
I have to agree with you, too. Look, I might be brand new to Dead by Daylight, but I've played Competitive modes before. Despite what I said about current Overwatch, up until about Season 5 (they are on Season 12 right now), the Competitive mode did work. It had issues, but it wasn't horrible. I also did ranked in Heroes of the Storm.
That said, I'm in my mid-40s. I can't mentally do Competitive anymore. I was always a laid-back gamer, never cared about the best gear in MMOs, or the leaderboard in raids, et cetera. I just wanted to unwind from the day with a video game.
Overwatch changed that, and I will never go back to a competitive game mode again. When or if I ever fire-up Overwatch again, it will be purely for Arcade modes and Quick Play.
I researched Dead by Daylight for a good 8 months before buying it and the DLCs. Streamers, YouTube guides, these forums, reddit, and the Dev streams (yeah, I saw the infamous "play Civ" one, too). Dead by Daylight always struck me as a casual game. I see nothing about its design that actually points to a competitive or eSport game, despite them having only a "Ranked" mode. As far as any "competitive" concept goes, sorry to a lot of people, but the ranked system here is a joke by comparison.
And that was why I decided to buy it. It's a casually designed game.
And the developers want to make it an E-sport..

I think killers SHOULD have more slots simply because they're totem perks in more than 50% of the cases will be removed right away. How about a 5th slot? A 5th slot that can ONLY be used with a totem perk. Other slots can still have totems as well but you can only place a totem in the 5th slot.
Anything would be more interesting than the current state, as I'm running out of ideas and ways to challenge the survivors..... running oddball stuff.....I just can't get excited or thrilled with the challenges I can present them with....

Eh, Fridays aren't a good day for it. They'd game, go home and forget. It's better to have it on a Thursday, for example, so they can discuss their experiences together the day after or so.

Would make the game less asymmetrical and finally give some power back to the Power role. -
Even is nice.

@Wolf74 said:
The problem is, killer perks should be more powerful than survivor perks, just because killer should be the powerrole to play against the numerous role played by the survivor.
But in fact, killer perks are weaker than survivor perks.
That's why 4 perks for everyone doesn't work.
Killer actually should have more perks and 6 is not radical at all.Tell that to the developers. They seem reluctant to give power to killers without major compromise.

I would love an actual killer, but seems game is being developed in favor of competition. Which means having to deal with balances on both sides until no one is particularly happy and leaves for a new game.I would love for this to have a consistent horror feel like when i first played it, unfortunately its feeling more and more like any other competitive game.
The balance of the game should be tilted to the killer's side of the playing field. It's an asymmetrical game.
Letting killers have 6 slots would further create that feeling of an unevenness that should be native to this type of game.I agree with these sentiments almost 100%. I'm not sure it's definitely the one fix the game needs to make killers clearly favored at all levels, but it doesn't even seem radical to me on its face because at every level of play you still encounter extremely coordinated SWF teams who rush gens like ninjas and basically have no fear of the killer whatsoever.
The "radical" part of this comes from the fact that 4 perks has been base-line since the game launched. Switching it to 6 perks for killers would be a massive change.
And yeah, this change would probably not affect SWFs that much.

As it stands, the killer is always supposed to be the ominous evil force. The opposite force. The enemy.
So having a gamemode where survivors team up with a killer to fight another killer, that'd totally ruin everything that the game has going for it.
Having a 2v8 mode would be more fitting. If you think so, please support my other, 2vs6, mode proposition. I can't link it, because I'm on the phone. I'm sure it is somewhere on the 1-3 page of the Balance forum. It has over 1k views, and it is probably the most viewed proposition on forums, I'm sure you won't miss it.
As to the thread - well, everybody may have their opinions. Gameplaywise ut is quite fun mode, and lorewise... Well, lore in this game is practically non-existing.
It might not have the most lore but throwing all the lore that do exist into the drain ain't the way to go.
And for your 2v6 idea, you're not the first nor the last to suggest it. It's an ancient idea. -

They showed the Claudette and Dwight skins. Those look really good. I´m not sure if those will be purchasable via event currency or auric cells.
Well on the DBD Wiki it says that the event currency, the Putrid Serum, is only used to purchase the 5 killer cosmetics. It doesn't say anything about the survivor ones.
I doubt they do a event that only let´s killers unlock stuff. This would completely mess up the event, since survivors would sabotage it out of rage.
But Killers who aren't fond of playing for too long might be able to get them by playing survivor, so that's cool.

So, you nerf the only 2 viable killers and expect the other killers to suddenly be competitive on high ranks?Go ahead. See how that turns out.
My prediction: a "matchmaking error" for survivors above rank 10. Estimated time to find a match = 45+ minutesThat's not how you do balance.
If you want more killers to be viable at the higher ranks, you need to look at why they aren't.As it stands, the two main reasons are either that their chase game aren't as good as the Nurse's or that their map pressure aren't on par with the Hillbilly's.
The first one of the two reasons is actually the easiest to fix. Simply, make the maps less looping friendly. If maps become more accessible for killers who's chase game ain't top tier, we'd see far less Hillbillys and Nurses dominating the high ranks. -

When the developers start punishing survivors DC'ing whenever they get caught or when they don't want to lose their precious flashlights and when killers can see who's in a SWF and who's not, it won't be fair to punish killers for avoiding bad games.
