I really REALLY feel like the developers should at least talk to some of the streamers that play both survivor and killer regularly if they don't play their own game.Heh. The only ones that the developers listen to are the survivors review bombing their game in protest over small changes.They seek to keep the majority happy.
It's some nice wishful thinking though. Streamers who actively play both sides should be listened to. It'd be amazing if @not_Queen, in her community manager role, could reach out to most and ask them to make a list of the things they like the most with DbD and the things that they dislike the most.
Good players are in fact in touch with the devs about the balance. OhTofu is one them, but Tru3 is not cuz well, if you play this game enough you actually know he is not that good of a player, he is good streamer, but mediocore player.
Yeah he is mediocre because he refuses to play tactically, but at the same time playing tactically is considered toxic by survivors..... its kinda funny tbh
Using Thanatophobia or Ruin on m1 killers instead of Enduring and tries to Bloodlust on safe pallets & Jungle Jyms. He even respects pallets when he uses Enduring and gets looped for 5 gens cuz of that.
Also all Survivors that are half capeable (not r20's) are SWF for him.
Thats not refusing to play tactically, its pure stupidity and ignorance.
I watch him from time to time too and I suggest you do the same before insulting him like this

I too used to watch him and Hexy in 2016 and thought these guys are best killers ever! Why else these guys would have +1k viewers if they are not the best, right?
Then I actually started to play this game myself for more than just dailies and realized they are actually not that good.
While its true they are still better than 95% of the players, but not as good as people think.
Yes thats because views are gained by entertaining the viewers and you need to do more than just playing optimally.
I'd say that Truetalent is better than most streamers out there just because he's willing to not play optimally, if viewed from an overall standpoint, as he constantly needs to adapt to situations and such.

You could not be further from the truth. People use nurse so much because they want to avoid actually using any skill possible. Nurse is [BAD WORD] easy. Especially rank 1's, literally no skill involved with nurse at all.What.
So if someone use Nurse and become the type of Nurse that sweep the floor with survivors every single game, doesn't that mean that they're skilled as fudge?Have you even tried using the Nurse yourself? She scales with the player. A bad Nurse is less dangerous than a toddler armed with a lollipop while a great Nurse is the most scary thing you can face in the game.
-
Over 150, usually.
Another factor is how bad the ping fluctuate. If it keeps jumping from 80 to 200 every 5-10 seconds then the game is gonna be horrible. -
@Master said:
The real reason is that killers are only a 2nd class player. You better deal with that or switch to survivor /another game. The latest Q&A has shown that thsi will never changePrecisely this.
-
Restless Spirit is actually a pretty solid perk.
-
@Master said:
The examples you picked both play survivor and killer, unlike some other streamers.....There's little fun in watching one trick ponies.
@Master said:
Simply let them face a squad of experienced streamers and they will show them how broken the game is. Worked pretty well in the asian twitch event tooThat flashlight nerf a few days later confirmed that the developers didn't know how bullshit the flashlight was until they experienced it first hand. That's why they need to play their own game more and preferably the killer side, since the survivors themselves don't get to experience the #########.
-
Probably just another killer that puts in even more band-aid in an attempt fix a broken game. Prone to receive the Freddy treatment after launch because survivors cry floods and review bomb the game. It's always the same.

Nurse isn’t the only viable killer. All the killers are viable people just don’t want to take the time and learn how to play smart.She is the only true viable killer. That's why she's so prominent in the higher ranks compared to the other killers.
Until the maps are reworked to make long loops impossible and stealth more important than running in circles and thus allowing for other killers to do good, Nurse is what people will play to counter the bullshit that DbD suffers from. -

Dont forget looping the "bug" to put it mildly that got turned into a mechanic (of sorts).The thing that made looping so powerful as it is?

He got several thousand hours at the least and since he's willing to not rely on full meta to play his games, that proves he's better than most.
The thing about the developers and people being in contact with them is that it never feels like they listen to actual feedback from anyone but people who review-bomb their game. Killers complain and gets a "git gud" from the devs while they just sit and look at their data. They need to be more immersed with their game.
-
Dwight's a religion.
-
I'd like to disable it in the options. Mad survivors usually spam me before I get the chance to close it post-game.
..there is not many games out there were players are asking for the end-game chat to be a thing lol.

You should watch Tru3ta1ent and Marth88, they both play killer and survivor. I only listen to them about what's really wrong with the game because they experienced both sides equally so their feedback will be worth listening to.I watch a few streamers myself, Tru3ta1ent being one of them, but they're still heavily biased. Marth88 knows firsthand how insanely broken a SWF squad is and Tru3ta1ent often express how frustrating it is to play killer. I still don't think you should put streamers on balance duty.

Just let Twitchstreamers get involved by balancequestions.
Why is it so hard ? They play the game 12 hrs/ day.
They know all the issues !Most of them play survivor and a bunch of them are toxic as #########. Too much bias for one side or another.
@Master said:
Are you surprised by that? It just reflects all the balancing decisionHeck, no. It just enforces my belief that the developers themselves need to experience their own game to fully understand it.

@ZombieGenesis said:
Their excuse was because "it doesn't feel good to survivors". So there you have it, the battle cry of BHVR "it doesn't feel good to survivors" so nerf it. That's how this game has been for 2+ years and it is apparently not going to change.Emergency killer nerfing due to the survivor backlash from that minor exhaustion nerf. Survivors know that review bombing makes the developers go down on their knees, begging for those positive reviews back.

How can u built a game without playing it?
Its mindblowing...I take it you haven't seen the Quality Assurance team play, have you? They're worse than Mathieu and I've only seen them play survivor.
-
The worst thing about the teachable perks is that there's three levels of each perk you need to find and the first two levels of each perk is generally too garbage to even bother with. Just make all perks be maxed when you get them and a lot of the "too many perks" feeling would go away.
-
No. Survivors don't that particular piece of information because then everyone would dodge lobbies when it's the Nurse.

@Might_Oakk said:
If anyone cares it works with LF as well.So Billy, Huntress, LF character powers get SButcher applied to hit.
Nice! Almost like Franklin's Demise, pre-nerf.
Since the developers are so adamant that Sloppy Butcher now effectively counter SC to the point where they don't think that they need to nerf SC.. I guess we'll just have to wait until Sloppy Butcher gets nerfed to only work with M1 attacks. -
@Visionmaker said:
Not if they're in SWF.The only reason the style of toxicity is different is because the different roles have different goals and methods of carrying it out.
Survivor's best way to be toxic is to drag the game out. (Ignore objectives to taunt.)
Killer's best way to be toxic is to end the game faster. (Tunnel/facecamp/mori people they don't like.)
I reckon you haven't had entire groups DC on you in short periods of time? I know I have. Survivors DC for whatever reason.
Also, tunneling and mori'ing people isn't exactly being toxic. Tunneling is going for the weakest link or a high threat target and mori is just getting someone out fast. Now, doing something like facecamping certainly is a pretty toxic action and using moris to spam the mori sequence indefinitely also is pretty toxic.
But neither of those is pretty common.
-
It'd be way too strong if it did. Fast vaulting is already really fast and slow vaulting is a way to slow survivors down during loops.
-
Funny how flashlights got nerfed shortly after that. Its almost like he realized that flashlights were utter bullshit.. but this is exactly what I mean.
-
Or let the killers themselves just close the hatch.
First one there wins. -
@M2Fream said:
I think 2 would be better than 1Two is a nice even number. If there's something that the killers are lacking at the moment, it's power.. ironically.. This would also help cement the asymmetrical multiplayer experience further.
-
"When injured" perks shouldn't work when you are at full health.
-
@Peanits said:
The toxicity goes both ways.Definitely does. There's some differences though.
Any killer will always face four survivors (in perfect circumstances) and therefore the chances for running into a toxic player is four times higher when playing killer.And in the modern Dead by Daylight, most popular survivor players on youtube and twitch are EXTREMELY toxic and only seek to do a single thing, making life as miserable for the killer as they possibly can.
And that's not to mention the natural toxicity that's created when friends see friends suffer in SWFs.
There's also a pretty big thing that sets the two sides apart. Survivors who get caught and angry commonly just disconnect and go unto the next game right away while the killer often suffer through the entirety of the game in order to not lose everything.
-
@Peanits said:
They are, for both of these things. DS in particular is in the midst of getting a massive nerf. Loops are being looked at and altered to make them less safe, as well as adding in LOS blockers for mindgames to close some of the distance.If you've got some suggestions for map design, I'd love to hear them, but I sincerely doubt you've done as many calculations around loop length, pallet safety, and time efficiency as they have.
I'll be cautiously optimistic when the developers are gonna nerf survivor perks since the survivors tend to backlash and the developers usually cave in. Considering that they now, right after the backlash, pulled some damage control in wanting to nerf bloodlust (without looking on fixing long loops) and restoring pallets into a no-killer-safe-space.
And no, I haven't done any calculations or spreadsheets. I've experienced most of them myself. Most of them can thankfully be somewhat "countered" with Bamboozle but that's another example of a band-aid fix. Loops like the collapsed silo in Torment Creek or the storehouse in Groaning Storehouse are perfect examples of areas where you can loop the killer for ages unless they can somehow stop you. Those sort of massive time sinks shouldn't exist.
-
Proximity voice chat is what F13 had and if you have seen gameplay of it, then you'd know that a huge majority of the councilor players constantly threw profanity and other ######### at the guy playing Jason.
DbD is toxic enough without that ######### as well.

@Vortexas said:
All SWF bully problems solved.Aren't you an optimist?
-
Rather than introducing even more band-aid to the game, I'd rather see the developers pulling off actual map design to shorten chases and also doing something about all the second-chance perks that extend chases faaar longer than they should be.
-
I doubt it. They're not the ones who actually face the toxicity themselves, they just watch from a distance and view the data. No point in getting your hands dirty.
Speaking of which, this is one of the main reason I want the devs to have a mandatory killer play session as part of their job, so they can experience the game themselves rather than sit and watch.
Made a thread about it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/11734/lets-play-killer-day-for-the-developers -
The devs gave in and started pulling damage control after all survivors went mad and started review bombing. It's an undying classic that still works, even when the devs themselves said that they'd not fall for it again.
-
This wouldn't make them fair.
-
@Master said:
I wanna see devs struggle playing killer at rank 1, pulling off their hair and geting a mental breakdown.
Before they have experienced this, they cant balance this gameThat'd be glorious and might just wake them up.
-
@Hillbilly420 said:
Good idea but what will happen is that they'll just play against rank 20's and think everything is honky dory.
They need to play against rank 1 Survivors and see what hell really is like.With the new ranking system, they'll not lose as much on resets and if they're so trash that they cannot escape 20-16.. well.. hmm.. it says a lot, doesn't it?
If every game is 15 minutes, they'd still pull off a lot of games in a 2-4 hour session.

@Acromio said:
- Reduced speed penalty when charging up the chainsaw
- a chainsaw attack that doesn't stop after breaking a pallet
Both of these would be massive changes. He'd feel unstoppable and that'd be so awesome.

@Mister_xD said:
i saw mathieu cote play killer... afterwards they insta nerfed the flashlights xDDHis preferred play-style is hard camping it with Hag or Trapper. Heck, the first time I saw him play he was Insidious camping as a Trapper next to a survivor who had a trap in front of them, back when that was still possible.
That flashlight nerf is a perfect example on why they must spend more time playing killers. So that they can EXPERIENCE the bullshit first hand.
-
@ThirdSealOPplzNerf said:
Of course they should otherwise killers would actually be powerful if they did reach rank 1 and see how stupidly powerless 99% of the killers are because of now easy it is to play survivor.That's exactly it. Right now, all they see is data and here-say from the forums. They haven't EXPERIENCED it themselves, so it's easy to shrug aside what's being said and seen.

Nerfing bloodlust before removing safe pallets/God Windows is the dumbest idea bhvr has had in a long while.It's damage control. Emergency killer nerfs are being shipped out to satisfy the review bombing survivors who's making a lot of noise at the moment. The devs are giving in to survivors, once again. History repeats.
-
Because Meg is a runner.
-
The fact that the devs are giving in to satisfy the survivors who're currently throwing a fit and review bombing their game over a minor nerf to exhaustion, than actually fix the game's garbage map design and band-aid infested mess.. It just shows were their priorities lie.
As long as the majority is happy and they get their money and positive reviews, nothing else matter.
-
There's only one survivor for me. And that's Dwight.
-
Emergency killer nerfs to satisfy the survivor backlash and review bombing. The devs are always giving in.
-
No. Legacy ain't coming back.
-
Most of these changes feel like emergency killer nerfing to help calm down the survivor masses who's bombarding the game with negative reviews after their minuscule exhaustion "nerf".
