Killer toxicity examples. So I know you want me to acknowledge that killers can be toxic too. Like hook hitting. It's kinda like t bagging because it really doesn't affect gameplay and is a way many (including me) celebrate a 4k or owning a toxic survivor. Lobby dodging is also a problem and I did mention a way to fix this.
If you're a hook hitter, you should expect some teabagging. It might be a fun way for you to celebrate, but you're just opening up the door for survivors to be like "but teabagging at the gate is just how I celebrate my victory, haha!"-- bad manners are bad manners regardless of what side they're on.
Bullying on either side ruins the enjoyment of the game all around.

It's pretty sad that a seemingly unfixable "exploit" can become a two year old game's most usable strategy .
It´s not a bug, it´s a feature!
You're joking, but it actually is.
If there was no looping, chases would end pretty immediately most of the time. There's not very many features that encourage hiding. The red strikes are incredibly easy to follow, so if you're not running perks to make them vanish then evading a killer in chase is near impossible given the large speed differential.
I'm not saying looping is fun for everyone, but it's not like it's a bug or exploit anyone is using to break the game. It's just literally the only mechanic that was working in for the survivor side of chases.
But devs have stated chases were never meant to take long. You basically admitted not looping would mean the game was being played as envisioned. You're right that it isn't technically an exploit but it negates the speed advantage the killer was always intended to have which actually does break the game. Looping is the root cause of major game troubles. It caused pallet reduction and nerfs and dilated chase time means gens are too fast ( the gen rush effect). The unintended use of the smaller collision box that allows looping is creating a cascading negative effect on the game.
The devs say a lot of things. I've also heard them say that stealth isn't supposed to be a mechanic, which seems counter intuitive if they want chases to be short and anyone to play survivor for longer than a match or two.
I agree about the generator issue-- something about the mechanic of the game is fundamentally broken. It puts a lot of pressure on the very start of the match to go somewhat flawlessly for the killer, or for the survivors to make major mistakes later on. Neither of those are particularly fun scenarios.
That being said, I don't really feel like looping could be removed from the game as the game currently is. I don't know what a better solution is, unfortunately, but it would be nice to find some sort of middle ground where killers aren't rushed first thing in the game and survivors have at least some hope of escaping a few chases here and there.

Somehow survivors managed to escape the killer before looping was a thing too. I still remember the good old days where you actually juked the killer, by juking I dont mean 360 hitbox exploiting, no I am talking about using line of sight
Red scratch marks are not as easy to follow as you might think and there are several perks for that btw.
Personally, I prefered the old non-looping days a lot more compared to the mess we have now. No, its no fun runing in circles in my opinion, even as survivor not
I mean, I play killer, I know how easy or not they are to follow. Sometimes they're a little challenging, but mostly it's pretty straight forward in my experience.
But I don't think comparing now to back in the day is very useful-- there are all kinds of perks and changes that have been made since then, so it's not even kind of the same game it used to be. That's a shame, honestly, because I agree-- looping is boring, actual escapes sound much better.

Oh please.
Of course there are some survivors who exploit BUGS for wins, but the number of people I ran into exploiting the tinkerer BUG for kicks and giggles was incredibly discouraging.
If you're comparing that to "looping" or "gen rush" or "bringing in a flashlight" or even "SWF" (all mechanics that are put in the game by the developers even if you don't like them) then that's not a great way to view the game play.
looping was unintended belive it or not. It was a side (unpredicted by the devs) effect of the 2016 august patch that made planks completely safe. And the colision boxes of the survivors getting smaller too.
Well that is unfortunate then.
I'm honestly not even pro looping. It's boring on both sides. But I think there's a lack of many other chase dynamic options to use successfully instead. Maybe it would be good if they finally fixed that then and introduced something better.

You said it all for me with that paragraph. Killers now have 1 exploit to use and yall are complaining like the end of the world and you just labeled 2 exploits that you survs have had for the longest time and the devs just seem to procrastinate on and yet I hear they're thinking of adding in a passive kindred ability for the survivors.
I mean, those aren't exploits though. Those are mechanics put in by the devs intentionally. Are they well balanced all the time? No. Are they boring at best and really unfair at worst? A lot of times, yeah.
But it's not cheating.
Now OTHER survivor things people mentioned above me that I was unaware existed, those suck. Survivors who use those also suck. Cheating sucks. That's the main point I'm trying to make.

If looping didn´t exist, survivors would have learned how to juke the killer. There are more than enough ways to do this. But running in circles is simply easier and thus faster to learn.
Agree to disagree. As someone who plays killer and survivor pretty equally, juking isn't nearly as effective as some people make it out to be and can be pretty easily countered depending on the map and the killer. That can't be the only tactic survivors have.

Thank you! This was the point I was making and thanks to all the negative posts for proving that point!
I’m not looking for anyone’s approval, I just hate when people enter forums just to troll and say git gud! I know it happens both ways but since I posted this in the SURVIVOR section I saw no fault. But as always I knew some people couldn’t help themselves.
Uhm what?
I checked all the "negative" answers to your thread and there was nothing discriminating as you describe it. People just mentioned that there are toxic people commenting on the killer forum. No one trolled you. No one told you to git gud.
So what the hell are you talking about? You can post freely on this forum and express your opinion. But don't try to put words in other people's mouths and then play the victim.
This whole post is full of people telling this person off for having an opinion (and an opinion that's not entirely unfair-- go look through this forum and see how many threads are about scummy survivors versus how many killer threads are about scummy killers), which is what you say should be allowed here.
I don't think this person is playing the victim and I think it's pretty rude to say that they are. I think they're expressing a fair frustration that I know I've also felt as someone who would like to discuss things like best survivor builds, chase strategies, etc. but only sees popular threads about how to nerf flashlights and Claudette more. If they remove it, they better replace it with something else. Killers are much faster than survivors, and if we're just going to slowly remove window vaults, pallets, etc. without replacing it with other things then the game is just going to turn into short chases where the killer almost always wins. There aren't enough ways right now to break chase that aren't looping, and while I agree that looping is boring (on BOTH sides) it's ridiculous how often people bring it up as toxic behavior or something to just straight up eliminate instead of replacing it with something else. Do you want to actually have a challenge as a killer or do you just want 4ks every game? The waits for matches trying to play killer are already absurd, I think the devs should avoid making more changes that will just keep pushing them longer and this is one that would.
What about juking the killer?
You know, double back up and losing the killer. That's not very hard to counter, honestly. It's definitely more fun than looping, but it would be awesome to get some more map variety or something that just adds extra challenges on both sides.

Nos37 said:I hate SWF. It makes it tougher for the killers; tougher for the devs to balance; we'll never get a doppleganger killer because SWF can use voice to shut that down; and now this, too.
I mean the fix seems kind of obvious. Though just make swf a separate mode with more difficult gen time and cleansing speed. Create an incentive like killer gets a fifth perk or extra bp. Swf seriously has to be balanced in a separate mode its to different from killing randos.
Or they could just add voice chat to the game.
I think it's incredibly stupid that the devs keep acting like they don't like SWF either. They put it in, they haven't done anything about it since then, and you know they know full well that there are some super busted aspects of it. But instead of just giving in and making it a feature of the game (and THEN balancing the killers around it so that killers can effectively combat SWF type groups) they just keep screwing around with perks.
I think their approach of "ignore the problem until it goes away" clearly isn't working and it's time to just embrace that SWF isn't going anywhere, give solo survivors the opportunity to participate in SWF if they so choose in game, and THEN balance the killers so they can play against it.

But really, it's hard to define a toxic survivor because it boils down to "what aggravates someone when they're playing against them". Tea-bagging definitely is pretty crappy and just stupid, looping is boring but also pretty difficult to avoid given that there aren't a lot of survivor chase options if you want to escape alive, and if someone calls you toxic for juking them they're just butthurt they played badly.

The birds are for people who are AFK. At a certain number of birds it actually triggers an alert like a failed skill check for the killer. Otherwise it's just the noise. They go away after you've moved for a bit or work on generators. They were put in place because people would basically dick over their teammates by hopping into a locker and stay in there the entire match.
The term "This is why we can't have nice things" is an apt description.
I wonder why they didn't ever change it to something like "the locker kicks you out" or something instead. That seems like it would be more fair to everyone.
Honestly, I hate the crows mostly because when I'm against a killer who slugs all 4 people, I think I should at least be given the option to go hide somewhere (assuming they don't have deerstalker) and bleed out.

These threads are obnoxious, because then if anyone posts a valid complaint (the new ranking system is BROKEN to all get out, for instance) it gets the same treatment as these trolly posts when someone should probably actually hear it out instead.

Honestly posts like yours are truly unbearable. I've never seen a community so split by hate mobs on both sides since WoW. One thing I've noticed about these forums is that killers are WAY more active/vocal. For me though it's still an EZ bully life as a survivor. I'll be taking your lunch money sooner or later. That's because even the Survivor labeled forum is just used for people to complain about survivor things they hate (which seems like something a moderator should crack down on, but whatever) which means there's literally nowhere you can post as a survivor without someone jumping down your throat. The same is honestly true for the DBD reddit now too. If you want to participate in the community, you can't be a survivor.
-
Yeah, I've heard it's bugged right now. You'd think it would have been fixed with the patch today but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
The hit boxes are kind of weird now in my experience. I get the logic that if you're still mid-animation and someone swings for you, they should hit you, but I've had moments where I've cleared the animation and been on my way and someone has hit me from the other side of a window/pallet.
-
The match maker has issues, like other people have said. Also the ranking system is extra wonky lately, so it seems like it's pretty easy for survivors to climb out of the low level ranks which means as a new killer you probably have more competition to get matches? That would be my guess, anyway.
-
Literally all you have to do to rank up is unhook people. I've had games where I've touched maybe one generator (not even finished), but saved two people and I ranked up, almost double pipping. It's ridiculous-- altruism should be important, but right now it's HUGELY unbalanced. If I don't want to save my teammates after they make some super dumb move, I shouldn't be that penalized for it.

Absolutely nothing you can say will ever make COMMS ok with me. The game was designed to not have voice communications. And the only time these comms become an issue is with SWF groups.
Actually MANY of the problems with this game stem from SWF. But we have to keep it in because survivors whine and complain whenever it is threatened. I'm for calling their bluff. Sure we will lose people , but we will also gain all the people that have left the game because dealing with SWF shenanigans was just to much of a pain.
I've always been of the mind to give the Killers the option to pass on SWF games. But as always the survivors say that if you give the Killers a choice they just wont play SWF. And why exactly is that? Because playing against SWF , more often then not , is just a toxic crap show.
Give me some data. I hear this all the time, but no one ever has any actual numbers to show that "most SWF is a toxic crap show" and I just don't buy it.
Are some of them? Yeah. But I've played against a fair amount of SWF that were just fine and arguably played a ton worse than solo survivors because of all the altruism.
It's fine if the coms are not okay with you, and honestly I support the idea of adding in the option to not play with SWF because then it means I can avoid salty killers who complain about the feature even after they just 4k-ed the team. That would be great by me, too.
The fact that people are complaining about Killer lobby dodging should be all the proof you need that Killers are done with SWF. You can find tons of posts where Killers stated they never dodge, and one time too many and they see SWF is just not worth the frustration. I have to admit as you say that there are SWF that are fine, and some of them don't even use the comms for game related intel, they just hang with friends and have a better time. Unfortunately those are few. And the Killer population is hitting a breaking point where they would rather just dodge the lobby then take a chance of getting a toxic SWF group. So as a result all SWF groups get dodged.
Actual numbers are not required you just have to read the forums to see the state of the game.
I mean you can believe what you want, that's your narrative and you're welcome to it. I'm not going to judge the state of an entire game based on what the small population of people who use the forums say. You're entitled to your opinion of "the state of the game" but I'm also entitled to being tired of people claiming things are universally true when you just have zero proof.

Then survivors complain that they only encounter those killers on high ranks.Have you tried killer yourself? Because "that definitely sounds frustrating" sounds like you haven't experienced this yourself.
I'm trying to reach rank 1 with Freddy. Which is hard mode.
I split my time 50-50 killer survivor, so yes I have tried it. However, I don't play a ton and I don't go above rank 10 (intentionally). I agree that it's stupid that some killers are much more buffed than others. I don't think the solution is 1 vs. 3. I think you're interpreting the fact that my rank doesn't bother me as me not playing, but that's not true. It just doesn't bother me.
And you're right-- that is hard mode. You also chose that, you don't have to use Freddy to rank up. Anyway, aside from that, they're buffing him soon? So it seems like that problem in particular is being worked on.

There should be no such thing as a "throwaway" game, on the side of something that is meant to be the one in control.
I also CHALLENGE you to suggest a better strategy than not respecting the pallet and taking enduring/brutal strength, to help me catch high rank survivors.
You can take enduring and brutal strength? That's fine? I have no problem with killers using the perks they have, same with survivors.
Also, I think we view the purpose of the game very differently, if I'm being honest. I don't think either side should have "control"-- it's just a versus online game? So you win some, you lose some. That's how it works.

I was thinking this the other day. But the problem with a 1v3 is that it makes camping/tunneling that much more effective and easy, when it's already quite effective and easy to begin with. You'd have to really adjust gen and hook timers to rebalance it.Or add character classes. Like certain perks only individual characters could have, thus adding some variety and making it so that not everyone just plays the same 4 perks (without having to just nerf things every other update).

Exactly! And then killers get to SWF and that would be really fun. xD

If you're chasing someone for 2 minutes, you probably need to stop chasing them and go and find someone else/patrol generators.1 minute 20 seconds*, thats the time it takes to complete a gen.
Not to forget that is a HUGE timewaster. What if the next survivor you find is also able to evade?
Then you're out of luck and that's kind of a throwaway round.
I get that it's frustrating, but that's how it is on the survivor side sometimes to? Everyone slugged before two generators are done is also really aggravating, but I don't think the solution is "take away every survivor advantage", especially not if we're already nerfing all the exhaustion perks.

Then i switch targed for the third time, ignoring the other 2 loopers and ohh no, he also loops...
Maybe i´m more lucky with the last survi... ohh gates are powered and they escaped.
"gg ez"I mean that definitely sounds frustrating but at the same time, maybe you just have to get better? I'm not trying to 'git gud' you, because that's stupid and obnoxious, but if your strategy isn't working maybe it's time to try another strategy instead of waiting for the game to change. Lots of people reach rank 1 as a killer the way it is right now.

I think if you're nerfing DS (which I'm not against) then you can't also buff moris that much-- it seems pretty unbalanced.I think its just a Cypress Mori, so you can kill the last survivor in the game if you catch them, seeing as obviously you will win anyway, unless you plan on giving the hatch
Ohhhhhhhhhhh. Thank you for that clarification! I've never used a mori as a killer so I'm still not good with the lingo, haha.

I think the goal with Meg is to give her as many bizarre and unappealing hairstyles as possible. That's all I can guess from the new ones.

They have mentioned a non-ranked mode before. I think it would be cool to have the casual mode be perkless and the ranked as is (with perks).Aww, I think the casual mode with perks could be great because it's a reason to play around with weird perk loadouts.
That's fair. I mess around with different perk loadouts anyways, especially in the lower ranks. Okay, guys, THREE MODES: Casual, Ranked, and Hardcore (perkless).

I actually like the idea of a hardcore mode, haha. That'd be fun.
On that note, why not a mode where you can only use the perks associated with your character? That ups the challenge a lot imo.

This would be a great addition; If only there weren’t trolls though.
I like to roleplay as killer (dramatic actions and movement) but it’s hard when survivor teams don’t appreciate the horror aspect of Dead By Daylight. I still get jumpscared by my own illusions playing The Doctor...Yeah, see, I think that having casual matches open up a lot of opportunities for people to experiment some and mix the matches up a little, thus adding the 'horror' aspect back in-- or at least making for a few good scares.

Yes so much. I'm always blown away when I get into a post-game chat with someone who loses their stinking mind because "I threw the whole match!!!" by not playing the way they thought -I- should have played. Like well, you died and I lived, and you chose to rush the killer and the hooks when people were thrown on them, and I chose to do generators, so really it just sounds like your choices got you killed, not me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

HERE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW POWERFUL SURVIVOR PERKS ARE.
Don't worry despite the perk reworks they will still get eatten up by survivor mains and still complain. It will be casual players this will hurt and drive from the game.
Exactly!! Ah, that's what bothers me the most about these kinds of changes, honestly. They're clearly made from listening to the most competitive player base which negates, I'm assuming, the larger percentage of people playing. There are, contrary to how the community makes it seem sometimes, a LOT of casual players that don't have time to devote hundreds of hours to learning how to "pallet loop" (and honestly, since the game pushes for chases and then doesn't have very much variety in terms of what you can be chased through, that seems to be the much bigger weakness here) or how to 'git gud'.
They're going to have a really hard time competing with other PvP games in the future if they continue this trend. There's a lot of options coming out (including their own game, Deathgarden) and if this game starts turning into a Friday the 13th killer scenario then I wouldn't be surprised if they lose a lot of their larger, less vocal player base.

No wonder this game will never be balanced... Killers cry and they get all they want, hatch, pallet, perks etc and then Survivors cry and they get all they want. Back and forth between both parties will not balance anything, I agree SB/SC/DS need nerfs, but not to be nerfed so bad that it's probably better to use something else.Agreed. Everybody thinks they deserve to win 100% of the time (4K or 4 escapes) so the game developers continue to tinker around with perks instead of adjusting any of the real issues: the ranking system, the matching system, how easy it is to cheat in-game, etc, or updating the game for console. It's pretty irritating.

Meg is my favorite.
I like the perks she gets and she was the character I learned with.
