Why would you have to buff and nerf different things? This is only about Boil Over

Because if all of the situational or training wheels perks are actually made super useful, you have balance issues. Not all perks can be great.

But assuming, for a second, that Boil Over is the only perk left in the game that people want buffing...
Noone wants to just wiggle longer, they want to escape. Boil Over is deceptively dangerous - it could easily become a Decisive Strike 2 that can be used multiple times per game.

And if you make it good enough, killers then need to counter with Iron Grasp/Agitation, you force all killers to use up a perk slot for a basic mechanic (picking someone up and carrying them to a hook), so you've introduced a balancing issue there.

I'm not opposed to buffing it, but it's not necessarily simple to do.

    You're not understanding.

The point would be that you have guaranteed wiggle time but there is always another hook. Depends on the situation. You don't have to BUFF killer to coincide

Buffing a perk to where it becomes something people want to use means it's competing with exhaustion perks, DS, SC, etc which a lot of those people already consider OP. Giving survivors yet another perk to add to the must haves is definitely grounds to buff a killer perk, although I wouldn't say Iron Grasp would be the one to get buffed.

  • @Mister_xD said:
only when you buff iron grasps stats to 50/75/100% decreased struggle effects too.
iron grasp is ment to be the direct counterplay to boil over, so i dont see why the survivors perk should be superious to its direct counter from the killer side.
if one of these two perks has to be stronger, it should be the killers perk, not the survivors.

Iron Grasp is mostly used as a baddie killer perk. I mean who really runs either frequently enough to have one counter the other. Running Iron Grasp as a killer all the time just means you're pretty terrible at getting people to hooks to begin with. I've had plenty of rank 3 boil over that I still make it to hooks just fine if not every one.

Pretty much everyone speaks english nowadays and those who still cant / refuse to will simply not be able to use it. Thats not a reason why others shouldnt be able to do so.
ofc we need to ability to remove it completely or mute specific players, but we need the option of vioce comm if we ever want a balanced game

To be fair that's a very ignorant stance, to expect others to speak English is quite rude, not all of them actually do its just a very large portion that are capable.

The game was not designed for players with an in game voice chat, it breaks immersion for a lot of people, whats the point in having it if you have to mute everyone? then there are people who simply don't want to talk, they bought a game without it, should they now be disadvantaged in a game they have played for two years simply due to those who decided to utilise SWF and chat breaking the game?

No voice chat should never be added to this game, SWF needs nerfed, we all know where the problem lies, you cant fix a problem by trying to fix everything around it all that does is leave the problem to get worse, you go direct to the root and sort it.

If they had dedicated language servers it might work out, but the EU point would still provide some problems in that realm as there are at least 20 major languages in the EU if not more. However if they made it like the forums where there are English forums here, then one would assume you speak English there.

But oh wait that brings them back to dedicated servers.

  • @twistedmonkey said:
SWF at its strongest, coordinating perks and saves and then adrenaline procs.

This is just one of the reasons solo can never be balanced with SWF and SWF needs a direct nerf instead.

And they gain about 7 or so survivor perks just for being on coms and negate a couple of killer perks if you carried them and certain add ons are also negated like Freddy's ultra rare.

The hatch rework won't help killers in the long run. It won't make the endgame shorter by that much if by any even if closing the hatch completed the remaining generators (unless you have bitter murmur). I'd rather let the last survivor leave or jump in myself than wait for another 5-15 minutes hoping I can get a grab or an escape.

Lol I'd love it if the killer could jump in and catch them from inside lurking.

  • @twistedmonkey said:
No the hatch gives a chance to one survivor, let that sink in ONE survivors, who's to say that survivor didn't do the two gens needed to spawn it? make saves, lose the killer and its the other survivors who went down quickly and farmed people?

Do you know the reason for a hatch rework? do you know why the closing idea was not implemented? let me enlighten you, its due to the problems with both of them prolonging the game due to how they play it out, while it should simply be a way to end it quicker.

The last part of your post just makes you lose all credibility and makes you sound like a killer main who is in fact salty, to insult people like this just shows you are one of the players who must be a joy to get in a match with and I would bet you blame the game mechanics for everything instead of your own ability to play the game.

More often than not as killer or survivor I see the one who contributed the least get the hatch.

I don't bother with Ruin anymore, it's too unreliable

I would take enduring over ruin any day since I know it will be useful against pallets and decisive strikes. Ruin can result in an instant win 1 in 20 games but the other 19 out of 20 are gonna be a coin flip if it even survives for 1 minute.

I mean you pretty much need a killer who can protect it. At least hag, trapper(somewhat), nurse, and billy can protect it sometimes. The others are pretty much boned.

Even then, unless you run Thrill it's sill a goner

Sometimes as nurse or billy you can net a down from it though at least.

Yeah that too, sniping someone as Billy on it is always satifying. Myers can get a grb off totem, but that is more situational and 1/2 the time grabs will bug out

Oh I was saying more so after they get it if you were close enough for a zip over on either. Myers you just need to be lurking which can sometimes pay off.

  • There's been times when I entered a 3 man game where the other 2 almost immediately dc and I've done it then because really am I doing 4 gens alone? There seems to be some sort of pip protection in place if you dc after a certain number of people have dc'd. Not that it addresses your point that if one person does the other survivors are often boned. I honestly think that the survivors should also get the 625 bp quitter bonus.

Honestly I think the only con would go to killers who would actually feel lag if the survivors are lagging. Hence how killers can lag switch right now and survivors will freeze and they can freely walk around and hit them.

So you get credit for gens being done and then get distraction points the longer you keep them occupied.

If camping was against the rules they would ban it. Is it banned...nope, is 10% to an emblem even a serious attempt to stop it...nope, are the legit perks to make it easier...yup. Doesn't seem like they care too much about it and it's most certainly not against the rules.

Where did I say against the rules. AWwwwww you're losing an argument so you try to change the goalposts lol. BHVR is saying "you are a failure" like I said by implementing any penalty to camping that affects your emblems no matter how insignificant it is. It goes both ways. I once lost 5 party streamers in my SWF group because the killer decided to leave before the game loaded in.

He's stupid anyway. Comparing losing BBQ stack POTENTIAL vs losing the points you actually lost because of this exploit and your item and 2 pips is not even remotely the same.

Wait, you lose 2 pips, a item you can get for free during the match and an offering?

This sounds almost like daily killer life.

Except for the pips. Because you have to literally do nothing until the killer disconnects to lose 2 pips.

Another person not listening. This is an exploit to trick the system into thinking the survivors dc'd. As such no matter what you did in game, you will more than likely(there are times it doesn't take them) lose 2 pips and always get 0 bloodpoints. You could have had a nearly max BP game and they pull this exploit and you get 0.

Nothing a killer has happen is even remotely close to this unless the rare event of all 4 survivors dc which they'd still get 2400 bp and maybe only lose 1 pip.

Have you double checked your points and pips before and after the match? The display is bugged. Sometimes it shows a depip when its not. Or it shows a different amount of bloodpoints awarded from what it actually awarded.

It isn't a display error. I wouldn't keep posting to this thread if it was. The main difference between the screens is also that when the killer uses this exploit only 1 your survivor shows as if you dc'd unlike the times a killer normally disconnects and you see all 4 and get points.

It literally just happened again. A wraith couldn't land hits so was afk by a generator and after the day of campers and trash teams I had I thought it'd be ok to do that gen and double dip. Then the screen twitch like a lag switcher and poof game is over and confirmed with other 3 they all got forced out.

About Camping. I am all for helping killers experience more fun play styles, but this blood point and emblem drain is NOT the way to do it. When BBQ was added to the game, it was a reason not to camp. A bonus for hooking unique survivors. That was a good thing for everyone. That was the carrot.

When this new killer emblem change came, it punishes killers who are within a certain radius of a hooked survivor. This will certainly lead to survivors abusing this mechanic (as they often do (pallet looping, BT after exits are powered, unreachable areas)). That was the stick.

I don't feel like it is good for a game to use The Stick to prohibit gameplay that one group finds toxic. And do nothing to cater to the views of the other group.
(Killers get punished for prolonged exposure to hooked survivors, but survivors do not receive any penalty for purposefully kiting and pallet looping the killer, which is just as, if not, more toxic than camping!?)

Use The Stick to punish cheaters, exploiters, and harassers.

Use the  Carrot to encourage stimulating gameplay.

This game and its weird logic.... sometimes its just pathetic

Most people who camp don't really pay attention to rank. Also can we stop calling it rank? It's MMR. Even if they claim it's rank. It's MMR.

You do realize what MMR stands for?

There are those type of guys that dont care about rank and then there are those that want to derank which is possible by camping now.
I doubt that anyone tries to rank up after he has done his first time rank 1 achievment

Match Matching Rating. Ranking typically implies there's some sort of prize. In this game there is no benefit to being rank 1 so it is pretty much just for match making. so wink right back at you because your wink was nothing.

you cannot derank by camping. You would literally have to camp all 3 and even then you should black pip due to the other points you gained from hits, hooks, kills, etc.

    100% inaccurate.

Number 1: The emblem punishment is 100% doing nothing. You lose like 4% on Chaser for facecamping which does nothing

Number 2: There already is a carrot for not camping. You get LOADS more bloodpoints if you don't camp without there being a penalty.

The problem is most people are just ignorant. Flashing a -5 bp on the screen every 3 seconds would stop camping and isn't harsh.

But when you find yourself alone after all of your "team" dies or DC with 3,2 gens left to do, and a mercyless killer that absolutely wants his last kill, you have no chance to finish the gens and open the gates you know it... so the hatch is your last hope lol but 8 games on 10 in this situation the F#$&@*₩ killer is camping theres. No fun in this

You just need to finish 1 and they'll pull off the hatch.

  • @Carpemortum said:
If he legitmately sat on the hatch for 10 mins, go work on GENERATORS. He wont leave until you pop one and even then it probably wont happen. Just do your job and try to power gates. Why does everyone expect a hatch escape just because theyre last? Thats not the endgame objective.

Ummm yes it is. The objective is to escape. It is a means of escape.

So you're playing a four man SWF and you're unable to punish camping? The second you, or your friend, on the hook says that they're being camped.. you should all just have rushed those generators to punish the killer.
Its your own fault for being super altruistic.

Actually a 4 man SWF should be able to easily free the person and escape. More than likely at least 1 is going to have a flashlight. 2 distract or take hits while the third unhooks and body blocks the escape. Also more than likely at least 1 has an insta heal.

Point still stands. From OP's whining, it sounds like he and his friends got wiped trying to save their pal more than a few times and is now taking to the forums to express his emotions.

Yes, getting camped and facecamped sucks but you don't REDUCE the amount of campers by feeding them points through over-altruistic saves.

Pretty much. Getting more kills from doing it makes them do it more. If they're that bad as SWF that they can't rescue then they can coordinate to just gen rush AND they don't have to worry about the hooked person killing themselves on the hook or dc'ing like non SWF groups have to deal with.

You should hear me ranting when someone kills themselves or dc's due to a camper "Oh yeah right punish the team because he's camping rather than stay on the hook and punish him for his stupidity"

I don't like it with Piggy (although it should be ok with her), it's a pain with Huntress, and the only other killer I play regularly is Spirit. And it's a pain with her too.

Have played it with Hag a few times, and had very easy games - lots of dark, unobvious places to trap that survivors like to run through.

The Game is actually considered one of the more killer friendly maps because of the lack of real obscuring scenery. It's just walls and floors mostly when compared to the corn and reeds in other maps. Nurse is godly there as well due to being able to manipulate the floors.

Also a lot of bad survivors panic when they hear the terror radius even though it's on a different level.

If you are dying to a facecamper, first blame yourself for getting caught. Then blame your teammates for letting you get facecamped.

Bullshit. The only time a facecamper is really punished is if you get extremely lucky with randoms or you're SWF. Or the killer is just plain bad which explains the facecamping typically. The whole "blame yourself for getting caught" ######### really needs to stop. There's a huge difference between unsafe unhooking, kiting the killer near a hook and having someone else stupidly unhook vs the killer not going out and actually hunting the other survivors like the game was meant to be played.

First: I just said how bad I am. And yet survivors seem to be able to overcome my camping. Pretty often actually! Kiting me, blinding me, blocking me...you name it.

Second: I am pretty sure killers hunting and hooking survivors is how the game is "meant to be played".

If getting camped is so troublesome for you, try playing killer. It's clearly way easier. And maybe you could be the shining example for us bad killers of a great, non-camping, nice killer.

You can't change how killers play. I can't change how you play....But you can. If you are struggling, maybe check out some vids on YouTube and change your play style so you don't get caught and camped as much.

I do play killer and my killer rank is better than my survivor. I'm rank 1 atm without using Billy or Nurse and I do not camp except in extremely rare or situational times. You can 100% change how killers play by implementing the change I suggested. -5 BP per 3 seconds of being near a hooked survivor flashed on the screen would easily deter people from camping and it really isn't much. For most baddies, just seeing that flash on the screen would be enough for them to stop considering they don't even think about how bad the BP for EVERYONE is when they camp.

When I camp, it's not for the bps. Why should I get punished when I see a second survivor trying to pull me off the hook so a 3rd could free you.

Your system would only work if it only activated if there wasn't a survivor within x meters of the hook. Othereise, you are just punishing me for playing the game as it was "meant to be played" when really it is your teammates who are killing you by rushing the hook when they should be opening chests, destroying totems and popping gens.

That's not camping. You're also currently not penalized if they were there. However, more than likely if you have them "trying to pull you off the hook" they weren't there and you were camping like a bad player to begin with. You should get punished because you decided to stay there and ruin the game for both yourself and other players by not leaving initially. Nobody is saying that you should leave the hook when you literally see a survivor there.

  • @Tsulan said:
    Well, yes.
But the devs are somehow convinced that a killer can kick 3 gens in 16 seconds.
I'm still waiting to see a dev do this btw.

Actually Surveillance assumes you can kick 3 in less than 16 because if you kicked 3 in exactly 16 the first would already wear off. So basically kick, get to next gen in like 5 seconds, kick, get to next gen in about 5 seconds, kick.

@HellDescent Sadly it doesn't apply to console yet. Hopefully will get an ETA on this soon!

Why is there a 2 depip on DC when rank is really just an MMR? If a percentage of games are being looked at people can still derank by playing essentially afk games inbetween DC games.

Just remove the depip as well as banning excessive dc.

But seriously, you can't punish killers for camping. They will camp out of spite.
And if you can't think of legitimate reasons to camp, you aren't one I'd take seriously on balancing.

Reward them for leaving the hook to get someone new. Make it more valuable than keeping you on the hook.

There's no legitimate reason to camp other than MAYBE Dying Light or basically you're bad or spiteful.

  • @TigerKirby215 said:
I always wonder what alternate universe the people who complain about camping live in. Every game I play I get normal killers who play the game normally. I've only see one face camper every 25 games or so, and over several hundred matches I've only gone up against one hard face camper who's won. And the only reason the guy won is because no one had Self Care and everyone kept slowly crouch walking towards the hook (on top of a hill) instead of hook rushing the killer so at least someone could escape.

I honestly think that implementing a rank penalty for camping was the wrong way to go, since Behavior has always toted camping as a "perfectly viable strategy." And I think that if Survivor try to be altruistic instead of doing gens when the killer camps the killer should be awarded with a pip, because either they did something right or the survivors seriously did something wrong.
I'd much rather that Behavior implement more perks that rely on you being far away from the hook. Perks like Devour Hope and Make Your Choice are a good place to start, but I hope they implement more perks with effects that rely on you being a certain distance away from an unhook.

It varies what rank you're at. It's huge from 20-13 then goes away for a while until about 6-4 there's a weird resurgence.

On topic, however, the penalty does absolutely nothing even in terms of a penalty. I had a few games running dying light recently where I ran into the obsession within 15 seconds of the game starting and downed them pretty quickly so facecamped. I literally lost the same percentage in doing that as I have as Hag dropping 1 trap nearby. I also still got iridescent on chaser while face camping.

The punishment needs to be both rank and blood points and actually flash on the screen to show the deduction in BP. Seeing even -5 BP every 3 seconds would deter a lot of the 20-13 players.

4 man SWF should be able to rescue from a camper anyway. 2 might have an issue, but 4 definitely should not. Even vs LF you can bait out what you need and have 1-2 distract while the third rescues.

Except that isn't how it happens. I play killer more and you do not lose nearly as much than as a survivor and in this case even more so. I guess I can claim WGLF stacks since you're claiming BBQ and like survivors don't use offerings.....

Killers dc more then survivors? Really? And I didn't know that wglf functions the same way as bbq... I better look out for that killer's aura next time I get a stack.

    WGTLF doesn't work the same.

You can get stacks off ANY survivor, even farming all four from the same one.

Where as BBQ each Target has to be unique to get the stack.

You missed the point. Even if a survivor dc's you still get the other component from hooking.

EVEN still this nonsense needs to stop detracting from the point of the thread.

Killers are using an exploit to DC the entire group to where it tricks the system into thinking the survivors dc'd as well as the killer which means 0 BP, loss of items(not add ons assuming you have another copy of the item), and a hit or miss on getting the 2 pip loss. The survivors could have been at a nearly max BP game and the killer does this and they get 0 along with the aforementioned penalties because of an exploit the killers are using.
